CHAPTER 7—Open Book Quiz on Tuesday, November 17

INNOVATIVE AND CREATIVE THINKING:

GENERATING NEW IDEAS

Working in groups can produce very dull, safe results—but it also can allow people to spark one another’s creativity and produce innovative solutions to problems. To be creative, a group must be able to take risks and to be playful. This chapter encourages students to develop that quality in their groups. It examines how people think creatively and ways to facilitate those processes by getting rid of blocks and opening up the perceptual processes. Finally, it introduces old and new techniques for helping a group generate new ideas.
