Ok. As promised here is pt1:

At first when we(me and two other friends) first entered the room, we thought that why the heck are we here? WE (sec2s) in the middle of so many sec 3s and 4s. We waited and … skipping the intro part.

We listened to a talk about the courses available in the school(Ngee Ann Poly) and blahblahblah. Then we went into the dialogue in the dark thing which is awesome. We were put into the blind man’s position and the room was pitch darkness. What I mean by pitch darkness? All you see is black. No shadows no nothing. One single black. #000000. Furthermore we were split into groups and I was the first group to go in!!! Of course we need a guide, which is really blind. He led us through out the maze thing, taking us through miniature Singapore. I felt totally crippled, no matter how long you stay inside, your eyes will never adjust and make you see. It was freaking scary at first. But we were all fine so no worries.

After the tour thing, my group have to film something for some sort of ad or something. We had to go outside and purposefully stride into the building etc. It felt so stupid. Why was my group selected out of 5 groups anyway? Oh and lunch, we had some bento sort of meal and off we go to the Esplanade. The two durian-s by the bay which is supposed to look like lanterns. However before we even set off, one of my friends fell terribly sick so she can’t go She felt better in the morning after falling ill the previous day but who knows? She fell ill again, had a fever or something.

Now THE ESPLANADE – THEATRES ON THE BAY!!! We had this tour around the esplanade understanding the infrastructure of the building. Went into their concert hall, theatre, jelenda (visual arts space), the concourse, and the bay room. We were introduced the various facilities of the building and of course the programmes available. We were given another talk of career guidance again. and thats about it here. The pity is that no photography was allowed most of the time.

Next on the list is the Singapore Dance Theatre at Fort Canning Park. From here, we learnt about the price of ballet shoes and how long they really last. Each pair cost about $100 and can last the dancers for only about a week!!! We also took a look at some of the costumes used in the productions. Each outfit costs about $2000. Why are all this so expensive? psst. they are all handmade. The costumes could all be reused as well. SAVE THE EARTH!

We went to take a look at a practice session that was for the upcoming performance – SWAN LAKE, as well and of course, we were all dazzled by the all the hard work they put in for just one performance. We left and made our way back from there.

Oh and I shouldn’t write this but I am writing it. My friend (shan’t mention names) bought a gulp using a slurpee cup (and she will say it is my fault since i told her to buy it) and was charged more if i am not wrong. HAHA. Then I got a ride to the mrt station (not)near my house by my friend’s dad.

Rest of the day was pretty uneventful. (I am cheating myself) No way I am going to write it here. So that wraps day 1 up.

For: The Essentials Green Online Worship Values Course with Dan Wilt Why should we expect God to mov

For: The Essentials Green Online Worship Values Course with Dan Wilt

Why should we expect God to move within a service? Why should we lead worship with an expectation of the Kingdom coming? I think the short answer to these questions is that if we don’t expect it, we won’t recognize it when it comes or we will be unprepared to receive it.

Now I want to say a quick word about what Kingdom expectation is. The kingdom is the time when Christ rules the earth and following that when the war with the dragon is over. That is an event in the future at the end of the world. But God doesn’t make us just wait till then. He gives us small tastes of what it will be like when that time comes. This can be experienced when we help the poor; when we serve each other; and when we are passionately worshiping the King.

The second part of Kingdom expectation is the word “expectation.” I love how Dan Wilt defines it: Hope in action (1). This means that we hope something will happen and so we prepare for it to happen.

So what does this look like in a service? For starters it means that we are flexible to what God’s doing in the service. This might mean changing a few songs in the middle of the service or completely throwing out the set list. It means that we pray for God to move and then watch closely to see if there is any evidence that he is. These are just a few way that we can bring kingdom expectation into our services. By doing these things I hope that we will be able to recognize it and be completely prepared for it.

The Hidden Passion Number (HPN) reveals one or more special skills and strengths that are available

The Hidden Passion Number (HPN) reveals one or more special skills and strengths that are available for your use. This number represents a concentrated talent or a specific area of expertise that you rely upon to shape your life. The existence of such a talent gives you a strong desire to develop and express that ability and an urge to experience this part of you in such a way that it shapes your personality and guides your life.

Finding Your Hidden Passion Number: Using the full name listed on your birth certificate, lay out your name and assign the appropriate number to each letter using the chart given in Chapter Two of this text. The number that is most often repeated in your full name represents your HPN.

Example:

The easiest way is to use this chart.

What Your Hidden Passion Number Reveals About You:

ONE (1): You possess a powerful desire to attract attention. You have great aspirations and a drive to accomplish. You are quite competitive and want to be at the top in all you do. Highly enthusiastic, industrious, and innovative, you are capable of influencing and even dominating others. Just as others may do to you, causing you to succumb to manipulation unless your ideals are high. Ironically, you sometimes lack resoluteness, especially at a younger age, but you have the strength to overcome this with time. Many great athletes and politicians have this number.

TWO (2): You are extremely compassionate, understanding, and insightful. You aspire to find harmonious and cheery environments, laboring hard to secure harmony among your peers and co-workers. You may seem demure and unassertive to others, and although you like people, there is an inner fear. You dislike noise and roughness. You work well in groups, often acting as the peacemaker. You are devoted to your job and perform your work with the utmost level of aptitude, endurance, and toleration. People naturally rely upon you. You tend to preoccupy yourself unneccessarily with trivial details, causing you to waste time on inconsequent matters. You may be too emotionable and easily offended or hurt; your feelings can get in the way of your sound judgement. You have a good ear for music and rhythm and an appreciation for the arts.

THREE (3): Ever the social butterful, you have a talent for self- expression and are a true party-goer and entertainer. You possess a great deal charm and charisma, making you quite popular. Your cravings for commotion cause you to fantasize and sometimes exaggerate when things are dull. Your expertise in one or more of the arts – writing, acting, music, or painting – can be very encouraging and motivating to others. While you are highly optimistic, believing that anything is possible, you tend to scatter your efforts too far and accomplish very little. You require self-mastery and focus to make the most of your talents.

FOUR (4): Your determination, organization, and self-discipline allow you to accomplish essentially all of your goals. You are perceived as solid as a rock and just as reliable. Your family and friends believe you to be reliable and dependable, placing their trust in you and your ability to care for them. Enjoying the security and certainty of schedules, you do not like the unexpected. You have a genuine concern for the welfare of your community, appreciating and enjoying nature’s beauty and the efficiency that characterizes natural law. Your practicality and realism arm you with sound judgment and understanding in matters of estimating the worth or attainableness of a plan.

FIVE (5): Incredibly flexible and versatile, you enjoy frequent changes in scenery via travel and new challenges. Writing, promotion, and public relations work suit you perfectly because you have a gift with languages, a good sense of humor, and a quick tongue. You are a pleasure-seeker and a bit impulsive, the combination of which can get you into trouble. Overindulgence is common among people with too many 5s – six or more. Your desire for freedom and escape is extremely strong and it will take effort and discipline to stick with whatever it is you started. You may be interested in too many things, which can make it hard for you to apply yourself to one area successfully, and cause you to give up prematurely. Learn to commit to your work and relationships and you will find happiness.

SIX (6): You have a dream to be of service to those you love and your community. You have the ability to be a healer, counselor, or teacher. You are a highly responsible person, willing to sacrifice much. You must be careful of not becoming a doormat for those who do not appreciate you, or seek to take advantage of you. You are idealistic and have strong opinions. You also have a tendency to become self righteous. You are generous and a humanitarian. You are an excellent parent and marriage partner. You are helpful and forever willing to listen to someone else’s troubles, but must be careful not to interfere.

SEVEN (7): You have a highly developed mind and a fine intuition. You are intellectual and deal well with abstract ideas. You like to be alone to contemplate, meditate and study. You are drawn to the philosophical and metaphysical. Nevertheless, you can be highly skeptical and even cynical of things you cannot prove. You are a deep thinker with unusual understanding and insight. You do not like to waste time on trivial and petty matters. You are a specialist and a perfectionist. You come up with unique solutions to problems and can be very convincing when the subject interests you. You can be self-centered, melancholic and depressed. Loneliness is quite common among people with many sevens, they have to learn to be alone without being lonely. Faith in the order and balance of nature is a must. You may seem different, alien and hard to get to know to others, but once they “know” you, they love and respect you. Even though you tend to keep to yourself you are generous with your love, genuinely concerned with the happiness of those around you but not demonstrative.

EIGHT (8): Success and material reward are important motivations for your actions. You believe in effort and are very goal-oriented. You can dominate and impress others with your vision and common business sense. You are a born manager and organizer, your subordinates usually like you. Leadership and authority are obvious, but it is wise not to be to forceful, demanding and dominant. You are a good judge of character with an uncanny ability to sense other peoples strength and weaknesses. There may be a tendency to abuse this talent, all eights have to be wary of greed and ruthlessness. Your ability to sense where someone else is “coming from” is much better served with your natural counselors instinct. Many eights, although being an advantage in the business world and a help in the quest for success, may make life pretty hard too. Many tests and frustrations have to be overcome and, most important, the proper balance and perspective regarding spirit and matter has to be attained. You need a family to be proud of, and status to feel rewarded. You may have a tendency to showing of your wealth and success.

NINE (9): Warm, generous and compassionate, you would do well and be quite happy in any undertaking that not only supplies you with a decent living but also is for the good of all. You are artistic, the nine is responsible for many of our creative geniuses, however these talents are often suppressed, sometimes coming to the surface at middle or old age. You have a strong desire for insight and universal knowledge. You are emotional, your feelings are not always sensible and they too are often suppressed. You can get caught up in dreams and ideals without being practical but with enough fire and enthusiasm to attract support. Your oratorical abilities save many a situation. You are driven to do your own thing and are quite independent.

Is the world made up of rectangles? Of course it isn’t, but our digital cameras make us look

Is the world made up of rectangles? Of course it isn’t, but our digital cameras make us look at the world as if it was, because most digital camera sensors are rectangular.

The sensor may be in the classic 35mm film format proportions of 1×1.5, or in the somewhat squarer 4×3 proportions of most compact digital cameras. Whichever shape they are, it’s important to remember that you don’t have to leave your images in the shape that they come out of the camera. You can often improve them by changing their proportions. It’s called “cropping” and simply means that you take off some of the top/bottom or the side/sides.

In this landscape photograph of the Corbiere lighthouse on the Channel Island of Jersey, I’ve left it as it came out of the camera. I think it’s a good image, with the waves splashing, the light reflecting from the sea, and the feel of a black and white photograph.

"Jersey seascape 1" by Gale Photography

With the next version of the image I’ve cropped off some of the top and bottom to make it longer and thinner. It certainly helps, by taking away some of the grey sky at the top, and the grey sea at the bottom.

"Jersey seascape 2" by Gale Photography

In this final version I’ve cropped off even more of the top and bottom. This helps you concentrate on the really interesting central parts of the image, and fits with the horizontal elements of the rocks and the waves.

"Jersey seascape 3" by Gale Photography

To me this is the most successful crop, but you may prefer it uncropped, or partly cropped. That’s one of the great things about photography; it’s down to your individual preferences.

Try cropping your images! You can use simple programs like Google Picasa, or more complex ones like Adobe Photoshop. Whatever program you use, it’s best to save your cropped image with a different name to the original file so you can revisit the original later if you need to, or if you want to write a blog post about cropping images!

Image enhancement by cropping is part of creative photography, and is covered in our “The Creative Eye” course. Check it out at www.lifestylephotos.co.uk

Karma – the belief that one reaps what one sows; the universal law of cause and effect in which thoughts or actions of the past show up in the present and require retribution.

Karmic Lessons

Karmic Lessons are numbers and vibrations missing from your birth name which serve as an indication of an energy that you must learn in the present and future because you haven’t experienced or addressed them in the past. The experience of the missing number will appear in your life continually until you ultimately master that number’s energy.

Finding Your Karmic Lessons: Using the full name listed on your birth certificate, lay out your name and assign the appropriate number to each letter using the chart given in Lesson 2. Determine which single digit numbers are missing – these are your Karmic Lessons.

Example:

VALISSA JORDAN BELEVSKI

4139111 169415 25354129

My Karmic Lessons are 7 and 8.

Karmic Debts

Karmic Debts are a type of debt people accumulate, related to abuse and selfishness in love, power, work, or freedom in the past, and signal a total disregard for others, for consequences, or moral concern. The idea is that your present and future provide you the opportunity to atone and correct your wrongs.

Finding Your Karmic Debts: Karmic Debt Numbers show up as your Birthday Number, your Maturity number, or one of your four Core Numbers. Check to see if any Karmic Debt Numbers (13, 14, 16, or 19) were present in these numbers before you reduced them to a 4, 5, 7, or 1.

Example:

Maturity number is 13/4 K

Birth Day number is 9

Personality number is 13/4 K

Heart’s Desire number is 10/1 K

Expression number is 23/5

Life Path number is 17/8

Karmic Debt Numbers

The Karmic Debt Numbers are defined as such:

The number 1 in each number signifies selfish abuse of the number that follows.

The number following the 1 signifies the arena in which the debt was created:

The Number 3 in 13: creative energy and joyfulness turn into frivolity, superficiality, and using words to hurt others.

The Number 4 in 14: discipline, hard work, stability, and accountability turn into rebelliousness, irresponsibility, and indulgence in an effort to escape what’s required.

The Number 6 in 16: love, commitment, and responsibility have been abandoned.

The Number 9 in 19: wisdom, spiritual knowledge, and power have been used for personal gain.

TEN (10): The Wheel of Fortune

This number has a different kind of karma than the rest – good karma! The number 10 means karmic completion and is the number of rebirth. This number suggests that a karmic debt has been paid and now the person is free to begin again. Also, the 10 indicates that you’ve been called to use courage, independence, and leadership to bring about the destined rebirth.

THIRTEEN (13/4): All Work and No Play

The purpose and goal of this vibration is to become conscious of how you express yourself without being critical and to develop discipline. Learn how to be honest without being abusive or hurtful. Learn how to be disciplined in practical matters, such as your health and finances. The 13 indicates that you are developing a conscience and beginning to see that all things are linked. With a 13/4 in your Core Numbers or as your Birthday Number, you’ll have obstacles that have to be overcome again and again until the lesson is finally learned and the debt completed.

FOURTEEN (14/5): The Temptations

You have previously abused freedom; now you need to relearn the value of freedom and the discipline required to earn this freedom. Previously, you have found freedom for yourself at the expense of others and that is where the debt comes from – irresponsibility and lack of accountability in the past. The 14/5 is the number of the rebellious free spirit who refuses to acknowledge limits to his/her desire for adventure, risk, and escape. With a 14/5 in your Core Numbers, you’ll tend to exhibit the negative traits of the number 5 – jumping from relationship to relationship or job to job – with no sense of accomplishment or goal in mind and pleasing yourself through material sensations like food, sugar, clothes, or anything else that strikes your desire.

SIXTEEN (16/7): The Abuse of Love

This number indicates a failure in the past to act responsibly in matters of love or commitment. As with all Karmic Debt Numbers, the 1 in this number indicates self-centeredness. The 6 suggests lack of responsibility and distortion of loving feelings. Past abuse may have originated from a lack of integrity with regard to the feelings of others. Until you learn to act otherwise, you will express all the negativity of the 7, which includes indifference, analytical aloofness, withdrawal, difficult to approach, and intellectualizing emotions. The goal of the 16/7 is to link the personal spirit with the universal spirit, thereby destroying one’s old ways and rebirthing with new. Life will present you with challenges that will humble you and it is exactly this humility that is the key to your future success. If the 16/7 is in your Core Numbers, your life will be a series of events that bring you to the bottom, only to rise up again, to fall again, and so forth. The pattern will not end until you fully understand that you must honor the spiritual, higher nature of all things and that you must rebuild your life on those principles.

NINETEEN (19/1): The Abuse of Power

This number indicates past abuses of acting in a completely self-absorbed manner, blind to everything except self-fulfillment of one’s own desires. The 1 of this number indicates the 19/1 person will often exhibit the negative traits of this number until the lessons have been learned, including selfishness, dependence, intimidation, failing to stand up for oneself, egotism, laziness, and aggression. You must learn to stand on your own and learn the proper use of power. Don’t be surprised to find that throughout your life you’re forced to stand up for yourself or, worse, are left to stand alone.

The Rational Thought Number reveals your pattern of thinking. Are you a practical, methodical thinke

The Rational Thought Number reveals your pattern of thinking. Are you a practical, methodical thinker, or a dreamer? Do you frequently allow your imagination to color your perception? Are you unconventional and original in the face of a practical problem, or do you stick to proven methods?

Finding Your Rational Thought Number:

Your Rational Thought number is found by adding the sum of the value of all the letters in your first name at birth to your day of birth.

Example:

First name: VALISSA – 4139111 – 4+1+3+9+1+1+1=20=2

Day of birth: 27=2+7=9

Rational Thought Number: 2+9=11/2

What Your Rational Thought Number Reveals About You:

ONE (1): You are an independent thinker, original, and not easily influenced by others. You tend to pursue a line of thought stubbornly, and you can be dominating in intellectual discussions. You tend to solve problems and plan projects with a straight-forward approach. You rarely allow yourself to be distracted. Quite often, you realize at some later stage, that you did not pay enough attention to the available alternatives, and a project may find itself stuck with no chance of further advancement. When you find yourself facing such a situation your frustration tends to be considerable but of short duration. You simply start all over. You do not give up easily.

TWO (2): You take the subtle approach. You allow your intuition to be a large part of your intellectual explorations. You are open to the ideas of others, and you may be a little too easily influenced. When you consider a project or face a problem, you have a tendency to allow too many alternatives to cloud the issue. However, when it comes to recognizing the many possible variations, and how they may affect the outcome, you are hard to beat. You have an uncanny ability to plan projects and solve problems which require a large number of people to actively participate, while at the same time maintaining a sense of harmony and unity among those involved.

THREE (3): You are creative, but your thoughts tend to be scattered. You jump around inside your head without much focus. You come up with solutions that reveal an illogical approach, yet they often work. As it applies to you, rational thinking is a contradiction in terminus. You project, interpret, and analyze your projects and problems in a manner that often leaves others flabbergasted. However, you are unbeatable when it comes to shining new and original light on issues; often coming up with unique answers.

FOUR (4): You are the practical, methodical thinker. You think things through step by step, and you are almost always well-prepared when others question your reasoning. You may be a little rigid in your approach and you tend to be uncomfortable with new, unproven ideas. You avoid risks, in favor of established procedures. You have no desire to reinvent the wheel. Others tend to trust your judgments and value your participation, in particular because you often function as the proverbial rock in rough waters. You are a stabilizing voice when involved in team projects, especially when chaos tends to take over.

FIVE (5): You have a flexible and adaptable mind. You are quick with solutions, and you can think on your feet. You have the cunning of a fox. You can talk yourself out of the tightest situations, but your priority is often winning the contest, not being right. You love to reinvent the wheel. You have no fear of trying an approach that seems far-fetched to others. Your adaptability is unique and you often manage to turn a difficult situation around to make it work in your favor.

SIX (6): You are a listener, and you tend to relate everything to the effect it has on others. You notice things that escape others, but when you try to find solutions, you often focus on details, forgetting the larger picture. Justice is a major factor in your thinking, many people in the legal field have this number. When it comes to approaching a project or a problem that requires insight into the hearts and minds of children, very old people, or anyone who is disadvantaged in body or spirit, you have few equals. You are a natural defender of those who can not defend themselves. Depending on the core-numbers of your chart, you may want to consider a career in the legal field, or in the areas of teaching and healing.

SEVEN (7): You are never satisfied with a simple answer. You tend to delve into all the aspects of a question until you feel you understand the problem completely. Then you proceed to solve it with clarity and without hesitation. Few people are able to compete with you when it comes to finding answers. You recognize the underlying factors in a problem situation before anyone else, and you are often able to analyze them in a unique and insightful way. You are a perfectionist and quickly frustrated when you work with people who like to take short-cuts. You appreciate quality more than quantity in any situation.

EIGHT (8): You are the visionary, and you focus on the larger picture. You ignore the details in favor of spectacular solutions. You love to blow someone’s mind. You understand the balance between the rational and the irrational, and you have no problem combining the two. You have a vivid imagination and you are often surprised that other don’t immediately grasp a concept that seems clear and logical to you. You have little patience when others allow fear and caution to slow down a project.

NINE (9): You are always aware of the expectations of others, and you hold off on expressing your opinion until everyone has had their say; then you point to the mistakes and the things that were overlooked. Your success in solving problems and in finding answers is the result of a process of elimination, more than it is a matter of stringing together logical answers.

ELEVEN (11/2): The 11 is the illuminator. You have answers and insights based on the proverbial light bulb. Your Rational Thought number is the most magical and difficult to understand (for others). You have the makings of an inventor, or a spiritual guide. You would do well relying heavily on your intuition. You sense things more accurately than you analyze.

TWENTY-TWO (22/4): A combination of vision and system gives your Rational Thought number the most potential for success. You can switch quickly from the larger picture to any minute detail that requires your attention at that time. You dream big, and you have the capacity to lay a foundation for your dream that gives clear directions for each step, each little detail, that needs to be take care of. A 22 Rational Thought number can only result from the 11 of the name and the 11 or 29 Birth Day. This reveals a strong intuitive side in you. Premonitions and an intuitive assessment of future effects are strong aspects that can be used and strengthened.

One of the best ways of getting a better insight about SAP solutions is to follow an official SAP tr

One of the best ways of getting a better insight about SAP solutions is to follow an official SAP training. If you search in the web there are many SAP Training providers available today. You may note that some of them provide SAP Training Online courses for your convenience.

As you already know, SAP is providing many different solutions for medium and large enterprises. Before you engage in SAP Training, it is recommended to spend some time to get familiar with different solutions provided by SAP. Some solutions are greater in demand while some others are not. So finding the area you want to get trained is not that straightforward. Start small and eventually you will get there. Best is to choose one of the component in SAP Business suite such as Customer Relationship Management, Human Capital Management, etc. Then gradually move into the other components as you desire.

Once you have the base, you can move into the advance topics such as SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence. SAP AG describes SAP BI as “unites a powerful business intelligence platform, a comprehensive set of tools, planning and simulation capabilities, and data-warehousing functionality – delivered through sophisticated and user-centric enterprise portal technology to provide a coherent, comprehensive solution”.

SAP Business Intelligence is one of the high demand areas these days. SAP BI Training courses are now offered by many different certified partners. Knowledge of basic data warehousing, business administration and cross-functional processes are important prerequisites of the SAP BI Training. If you come to this level by gradually following the functional processes of SAP ERP you will grasp SAP BI quickly.

Getting trained in SAP is fun as long as you have the desire and motivation. If you are grasping the SAP ecosystem gradually you will find how easy it is to master in SAP. If you are from a software technical background, you may find easy in grasping certain advance concepts like SAP BI. Even you are not, you still can be comfortable with a properly structured course. Make sure to cover the prerequisites before attending to any of the SAP training course to harness their best value.

Since you need to make an investment in pursuing SAP Training, one of the key points to consider is the training provider. If you search over the web you can find many providers offering SAP training, but make sure to verify whether the provider is actually a SAP certified partner in providing official SAP courses. You might have to pay some extra bucks, but the training and the recognition is guaranteed. Also it will put a solid base for you to pursue the SAP certification. You may also want to finalize in which area you want to get the SAP Training. You may consider one of the SAP EPR functional areas as mentioned above or some other specific advance areas like SAP BI Training (Business Intelligence).

Once you successfully complete SAP training, next step would be to focus on SAP certification. Don’t wait too long to complete the certification after the SAP training is over. Have a plan and go for it as soon as you feel that you are ready. SAP Certification will help you to prove your SAP knowledge and also help others to recognize you as a true SAP genius. Your CV will be well recognized by potential employers when they see the SAP certification in your CV.

The infamous academic adviser… I am still getting over the awful advice that my academic advisor gave me freshman year when I started at the the University of Pennsylvania. When I entered college, I really had no idea what I wanted to do in terms of career choice, I really had no idea what I wanted to do in general, and so I turned to my handy dandy college adviser.

Maybe I had a bad experience, but the feeling that the adviser experience was sup-bar is one that is not solely mine. The biggest problem that I had with my college adviser, in hind-sight is that there was no real advising. She did not help to focus me, something that I think is extremely important, especially freshman year of college. And she did not lay out the reality of the college experience. She told me to explore my options, have fun freshman year, see where the winds take me.

But now it is my junior year and there are so many requirements and courses that I have not taken. And while I will not say that it is entirely her fault for letting me loose and allowing me to take all of the useless classes that I did freshman year, if I would have known the importance of not only having a general plan, but also the importance of tackling general requirements and major requirements with single courses, I would be much better off right now and have more realistic hopes of graduating on time.

So my advice to all those people out there they are entering college that have no idea of what to do: make a general plan, even if you don’t exactly know what you want to do for the rest of your life, have some ideas. Look at different paths of study that you can take and plan it out. Trust me, you will be better off in the end. But most importantly, seeing as how it is your freshman year, have fun, and be safe!

====================================================

Yes! Yes!! Some basic planning before hand can save hours of headache and confusion later! Have you given thought to why you want to go to college in the first place? What’s the point of going to school? More importantly, what’s the payoff for YOU? It is your investment; it’s your life; it’s your time…

I feel like it’s been so long – and that’s because I haven’t felt well for t

I feel like it’s been so long – and that’s because I haven’t felt well for two weeks! I still haven’t been able to work out, despite my last bright idea. Every time I move at all, I start coughing and coughing, and it takes a good ten minutes to settle down. I feel much better than I did before, and I’ve been going to work and school, I just cannot seem to get rid of this cough!

I’ve had plenty of time to sit around and plan and think about my next big event, though, so that’s a plus. Here are my options so far:

1. Disney Princess Half Marathon

This race is kind of soon – March 7th. My coach ran this half marathon last year when she was getting ready to run the Boston Marathon, and she said it was really fun. It’s women only, and the course runs right through Disney World – the map looks kind of magical, I must say. Plus, Disney World in March; I bet the weather will be perfect, and definitely not too hot! The only cons are expense related: the flight to Florida, hotel, registration, it all adds up, and this looks like it might be expensive.

2. Vermont Marathon

There are a couple of options here. Run Vermont hosts a half marathon on April 10th, and a full marathon and relay on May 30th. While I don’t think I’m really ready to do a full marathon, the idea of a relay sounds like it could be really fun! The down side to the half marathon is that it is limited to 500 runners; I’ve really enjoyed running with as many runners as possible, thousands! It means there are a lot of spectators and fans supporting all the runners.

3. Providence Marathon

I’m from Providence, and I think it could be really fun to run the May 2nd half marathon. I bet all my friends and family would be able to come out for this one, and I’m pretty sure I’d feel like a rock star. Plus, it would be kind of cool to run in familiar territory – I could even go to Providence on the weekends to train on the real course! As far as I can tell, there aren’t really any serious downsides to running this race.

Ok, so those are the options up for consideration now. I guess the other thing is that I could probably do more than one of these! The race dates are all close enough that it would be hard to stay in half shape for a week or two, and then just run another one.

Maybe I should just focus on one event at a time!

Well, someone else, whom shall remain nameless for right now, did it for me. LOL. I registered today! (Thank you God!) Even though I feel a little overwhelmed right now about school, the thought of missing out on getting the classes I needed for the next quarter had me in a state. This is it for me guys. My last shot. I have challenged myself. I have to get my child off to college soon. And the annual tuition will be about $27,000.00 I got the classes I wanted at the times I wanted. I am just taking one art class this time. See, lesson learned. And I really want to get out there and prove myself. The content is fine. Feel confident about that. The courseload…..that’s another one. But having more technical and general ed should give me a breather, solidify my gpa, and strengthen my foundation before moving on.

“For: The Institue of Contemporary and Emerging Worship Studies, St. Stephens University, Essentials Green Online Worship Theology Course with Dan Wilt.”

I must first of all say I am thoroughly enjoying doing the Essentials Course in worship studies. I have found their materials so thought provoking and yet so balanced and mature. Definitely check the course out if you have a heart for worship!

Anyway back to what I wanted to say…In the church I grew up in there were often differing opinions on worship, and some pretty strong ones at that (I see those heads nodding ). One of them was on “cultural relevance” and “accessibility”, i.e. we were dealing with issues of how we make the “church” cool to other people and maybe even to ourselves because even though most “religious” people won’t admit it, they are bored out of their minds.

It sad to know that these “wars” still continue today, when really the problem isn’t with the other guy who wants to rock out or sing hymns. The problem was us all along. (swallowing bitter pill…). The way I see it the problem has never been should we sing hymns or not or should we sing the latest songs off the Worship Top 40, the problem is about who we are serving.

We all know that worship is about us (wait quick double take, what did he say?) At least that’s what we believe if we are honest with ourselves. Even us worship leaders make worship about us rather than first God and THEN others.

I think worship should be directed towards God but we should also be serving each other by choosing actions, meditations, prayers and songs that help others to connect with God. Far too often worship leaders under the banner of “cultural relevance” choose the songs they want to sing instead of the songs the community, in front of them needs to connect with God. As leaders we need to keep at the front of our minds the question “what is going to help these people connect with Jesus today?”

The other issue goes a little deeper. I have always found that in these churches where there are struggles in worship it is because choosing the right song has become the focus. It’s sort of like if you choose the right song (or my favourite song at the moment) then worship will be awesome, but if you don’t then worship will be rubbish.

That’s also not the point, I mean isn’t this about God and His presence? What God wants isn’t a song or sacrifice (depending on which Testament you choose to live in… jokes) he wants people who will come to Him in faith (Heb 11), He wants people who will worship in spirit and in truth (John 4) and He wants people who are humble (Psalm 51).

I once heard Graham Cooke say that as long as God’s presence is manifesting, that people are getting saved, that miracles are happening on a weekly basis and the poor are being looked after, you will always be relevant. Pretty powerful stuff hey. I think so often we hide behind “being culturally relevant” and choosing cool songs so we don’t have to own up to the fact that God left the building a long time ago.

As always I welcome any comments

So if I were to tell you that you could whip out all of your worst dance moves, spandex, and guilty pleasure music- in public- all while getting a pretty darn good workout, would you be in? Bienvenue à la gym suédoise – where all your Olivia Newton John, jazzercise, eighties fantasies come true. Okay, maybe I’ve exaggerated the spandex/eighties ambiance- but still, if ever there were a place to don the leg warmers…

How did I find myself at gym suédoise? Well, I was invitée of course. Somewhere in between sipping on Serbian eau de vie and my performance of an impromptu jazz concert (for a bar plein des étrangers, who only moments before had been enjoying traditional Serbian folk music), my friends Jérémie and Julie m’ont persuadée to join them the following afternoon for a cours gratuit, and well, since I try to say oui to everything…(which is how I ended up in a the Serbian bar in the first place…)

So there we were, gym suédoise, about which I had only been told two things: (1) “ça, c’est un truc des filles” (that stuff is for girls) and (2) “l’instructeur a des fesses incroyables!” (the instructor has a great butt). Needless to say, I was intrigued. Ready to get my “bounce” on- because I don’t really think groove applies in this situation – I found myself running, kicking, lunging, and assuming a whole load of comprimising positions on the floor- one of which hysterically resembled a “grinding” yoga-like move I think I once saw in an N*SYNC music video… In short, j’ai presque mort de rire- and haven’t had that much fun in a really long time. My french friends are incredibly marrant, and good dancers- shimmying, shaking, and swaying all over the place- which, à propos, is their natural state- even when not at gym suédoise. And of course, there was the obligatory old lady who was incredibly musclée – and makes you think that there might be something to this swedish jazzercise after all…

Oh, the fesses. Well yes, by Parisian standards, I guess they were quite buff. The instructor was carrément Swedish looking, very Ken-like (as in Barbie & Ken), although I assume that’s not a requirement for the job. As one friend pointed out, il n’y a pas un poil sur son corps! (there isn’t a single hair on his body!) – which suggests that in addition to being incredibly blond and costaud, he probably has done his fair share of épilation.

Anyway- despite all the joking around- I have to say it was an incredibly good workout. My friends said there are classes which are plus faciles, and that might be a waste of time- but if you go to the advanced class – you leave complètement trempé – and I’m fairly certain my épaules will feel it tomorrow, as even my most frequent jogging has really done nothing to makes my bras stronger.

But in terms of un truc des filles? -Leave your inhibitions at the door, mecs. It clearly isn’t la musculation, but there were plenty of guys there. And since when is it a problem to be surrounded by filles in spandex?
