I am a new Mac user.  I’ve spent years using PC’s and recently made the switch to a Mac.  There is a definite learning curve, but I’m doing well with the adjustment and the support folks at Apple have been great.  I have also found a lot of answers to questions in people’s blogs and other online content.  One of the things I really like about the Mac (and there are a few) is Finder – the application that allows you to see your files and folders.  It has a few options for how you can look at them and one gorgeous option is cover flow.  It’s just like on an iPod and I was so excited seeing my jewelry photos in cover flow.  This is a screen shot of the folder that contains bracelet photos for 2009.  They look awesome and I’m getting this Mac thing down.

Microsoft Courier

Say what you want about Microsoft, but the folks at Redmond are having quite a good 2009. First came the revamped Zune HD, then came Windows 7, and now…Microsoft Courier.

What is it you ask? Well with the craze in e-book readers lately and the advancement in “touch” technology, the Courier is a “tablet” engineered by Microsoft themselves. However, Microsoft refers to their new project as a “booklet” instead of a tablet because…well it is designed like book. The current design of the Courier has the “booklet” rocking two 7 inch screens that support multi-touch gestures and can be used with a tablet pen. The middle/spine of the “booklet” has a iPhone-esque “home” button and a “Library” button. In my opinion, the leaked pictures of the Courier show a beautifully designed product that makes you wonder “what-if” Microsoft designed their own products.

The functionality of the Courier aims to combine media, e-books, and productivity (such as taking notes, creating a presentation, designing, PDF, etc.) in one “journal” format. The multi-touch gestures let you search, move, copy, clip, zoom, and probably more. The clip, tuck, & paste feature is one of the most innovative UI features as it allows you to “clip” something (a picture for example) and “tuck” it to the spine of the “booklet” where you can copy or move the item to either side of the screen. Another great feature so far is the”smart” tablet pen that is designed to have two buttons, an eraser, and a twisting mechanism. Pressing the front button on the pen lets you quickly choose different pens and colors. The twisting mechanism probably brings up a more robust set of drawing tools. The eraser is straightforward, while the top button is a dedicated “undo” button. From watching the demo, the pen is so natural that users will not have to guess about the pen. It may not be new to tablet users but with the added multi-touch gestures, the pen is bound to be a workhorse. The UI uses a lot of Cover Flow to access content, moving page to page is as easy as “flipping,” and the “Library” is the main file system to access all your files. Lastly there is hints that this product will rely on cloud computing. So lets say you create a presentation in San Francisco and your clients in Chicago need it, just publish your presentation and they can access it. It probably is not a surprise to say that powering the OS is Windows 7. My first impression from the demo alone show that the Courier is trying to take the guesswork out of how to use it. It just seems to work and feel natural so that users can get to work quickly and efficiently.

Since Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer claimed he did not know of Courier, consumers probably will not be seeing this product on the market right away. Gizmodo and CNET say that Courier is projected for a mid-2010 release but still has to undergo further in-depth testing. As of now, Courier probably does not apply to everyone but expect journalists, project managers, designers, e-book readers, and students to make up the bulk of users.

Gestures: The basic finger gestures are exactly what you would expect. A one-finger tap-and-hold clips content, one-finger flicks scroll vertically and turn pages. Two-finger gestures open and close apps: Up or down opens an app, while a swipe offscreen closes it. Flicking toward the other screen with two fingers slides it across. Pinches come into play, for zooming out from the Journal to the Library. These gestures can and probably will change to some degree, possibly incorporating more fingers. - From Gizmodo.com

Smart Agenda: The sum total of content in the Courier is called the Infinite Journal, but of course there are different ways to view that. "If Pagestream was a novel, Smart Agenda would be your Cliff Notes." That's how the Smart Agenda is described—it summarizes the flowing Pagestream view into an easier-to-manage block of appointments, emails, to-dos, weather and messages from friends. It appears to be the closest thing to a "home screen" found in Courier. - From Gizmodo.com

The Cloud: The "cloud" is mentioned throughout documents about Courier. Here, we see some of what the cloud means for Courier: Collaborators can leave comments on shared portions of your journal that will show up instantly, with a notification appearing in the Smart Agenda. Algo muito prazeroso de se utilizar no dia-a-dia é o Alternador Shift do Ubuntu, um “Alt-Tab” mais bonito, estilo Itunes para suas janelas abertas.

A grande vantagem de utilizá-lo, é que não é necessário parar de usar o calejado Alt-Tab, pois você pode ativá-lo paralelamente usando o acesso de teclado Win+Tab.

Se no seu Ubuntu ele ainda não estiver funcionado, vamos ao passos:
1) Vá ao Menu Aplicativos > Central de programas do Ubuntu, pesquise “Compiz”, selecione o “Gerenciador de configurações do compiz” e clique na setinha à direita para instalar,

2) Terminada a instalação, vá em Sistema > Preferências > Gerenciador de configurações do compiz,

3) Vá na sessão Gerenciamento de Janelas e habilite o Alternador Shift,

4) Caso queira personalizá-lo, clique sobre ele, e altere velocidades de entrada e saida, além de modelos de capa ou inverter.

Importante:
O Compiz deve estar ativado para tudo isso funcionar:
Sistema > Preferências > Aparência > Efeitos Visuais > marque: Normal.

I love design, but sometimes I feel a designer may go a little too Far. Li Jianye in this concept shows, the iShelf, a shelf where by assorting CDs in the Cover Flow layout, plays the songs on that album.

Personally, I think a iPod would be a better investment. Yet, if you like music playing shelves – this is the gadget for you. However, the designing of the product is beautiful.

Hace tiempo que no escribía un review de una aplicación… bueno, buscar algo interesante requiere tiempo, y no me ha sobrado precisamente este último tiempo. Hoy me di unos minutos, y me encontré con la que les mostraré en el artículo que ahora comienza. Bueno, mis típicos trasteos por internet (los que a fin de cuentas le han dado vida al blog) me llevan a muchas cosas, desde un categorizador de canciones para iTunes hasta un capturador de imágenes, pero más menos una vez al mes me doy el tiempo de buscar un bonito fondo de escritorio para mi Mac. No me es fácil decidirme; tengo gustos bastante particulares, y puedo perder dos horas hasta encontrar alguno que me agrade.

Una de las páginas que suelo visitar es InterfaceLift, un sitio que se dedica a recolectar bonitas imágenes en muchas resoluciones para nuestros equipos; me gusta especialmente porque tiene fondos en 1280×800 píxeles, la resolución de pantalla de los MacBook blancos, y no todos los sitios poseen imágenes en ese tamaño. Bueno, y en medio de mi trasteo me encontré con una pequeña aplicación que muestra muy al estilo Mac los fondos de escritorio de esa página, para poder elegir y descargar el que más nos guste para nuestro escritorio. Les hablo de Wallpaper Junkie 2.12; para empezar, pueden descargarlo desde acá. Es gratuita, y compatible con Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.

Una vez descargado e instalado en ‘aplicaciones’, ábranlo mediante Spotlight o QuickSilver y verán aparecer el programa; bueno, específicamente lo que saldrá es lo siguiente:

El programa cargará primero su base de datos de imágenes del sitio de InterfaceLift, y demorará en eso unos minutos; claro, depende de la velocidad de conexión a internet que tengan. Una vez terminado el proceso de carga, los próximo que verán es lo que sigue:

Punto a favor para Wallpaper Junkie: trabaja con Growl, el notificador por excelencia, para mostrarlos lo que vamos haciendo. Soy un convencido de que Growl nos facilita la vida en su simpleza, y me di cuenta cabal de ello cuando formateé y no lo tenía… cosas que uno extraña cuando faltan. Bueno, después de este ataque filosófico, sigamos. Una vez que la aplicación completa sus tareas iniciales, muestra su ventana principal:

Esta es la mayor gracia -y la más maquera- de esta aplicación: trabaja con Cover Flow para mostrar los fondos de escritorio, por lo que el atractivo de las imágenes resalta aún más, y la navegación por ellas se vuelve muy entretenida y ágil para poder encontrar lo que estamos buscando. En las preferencias de la aplicación podremos controlar el número de imágenes que queremos que nos muestre, la resolución por defecto para descargar los fondos y otras cosillas.

Lo próximo es bajar la imagen. Abajo y a la izquierda de la aplicación tienen dos opciones: con ‘Quick Download’ el fondo se descargará en la carpeta ‘imágenes’ (pueden cambiar el sitio en las preferencias) con la resolución por defecto que tengan configurada. Si hacen clic en ‘Download’, aparecerá ante ustedes lo siguiente:

Una vez elegidos los dos parámetros de ambas ventanas, hacen clic en ’save’ para que la imagen se descargue. Mediante Growl se les avisará que todo ha terminado, y pueden ir a donde guardaron la imagen para ponerla como fondo de pantalla.

Eso es todo cuanto puedo decirles del programa. Me imagino que hay otras aplicaciones similares dando vueltas con estas características, pero lo que hace único a Wallpaper Junkie es su sincronización con InterfaceLift, un sitio con fondos de escritorio realmente lindos, que se actualizan regularmente y que tienen gran calidad. Recomendado para los amantes de un fondo de escritorio vistoso.

Why the French?

Because French swear words and gestures are poetry in motion, and my wife will be heading to Paris for a gig between the 4th and 7th of October 2009.

What is to keep me occupied in those days of solitude when my wife is on French soil making music for the benefit of the French people?

One possible thing – the iPhone 3G S! If it arrives by then, that is. The week on the 4th of October will be the 4th week since booking. Not quite 30 days, but over 3 weeks in waiting. I would say chances of it arriving is 50-50 or higher.

I am now at the end of the 2nd week of waiting, tomorrow is the start of the 3rd week. As expected, some of the enthusiasm is beginning to fade. I don’t even check around for a spare in stock anymore, as the usual same answers can be very demoralising and discouraging after awhile. Best not to prod. Like an ancient chinese saying, “if you poke and dig faeces, you’re gonna get faeces aroma and smell”. Not quite the situation to be used here, but it seems applicable.

Meanwhile, I thought I would do something more productive, instead of just waiting, checking and hoping. In the last one week, I’ve been tidying my music files in iTunes – removing albums with only one or two songs, reorganizing tracks and albums, and…using better higher resolution cover flow artwork in anticipation of the coming 3G S. You see, my previous iPod was the fourth generation one called iPod 4G Photo. The album artwork used in this device was of low resolution, given the small colour screen. The same artwork used on the iPhone 3G S would look blurry, so a higher resolution replacement was in order. I have been doing this daily for the last three days, and I have only managed to replaced about 20% of all artwork in my iTunes. Having to reinstall, crop, resize and readjust the contrast of the new downloaded artwork is a painstaking task!

I bet that by the time I’m done with this, the iPhone 3G S would just about arrive. It would be nice to know that with one sync, all these would be in proper order, without having to spend some 2 weeks getting them straightened out!

A further 2-week wait sounds predestined.

I have try this browser for a while. It seems lighter than it’s previous version when loading a web page. But, compared to Firefox, it’s not too significant in loading times. Safari can handle javascript very well with their nitro engine and more stable than firefox. Safari also more stable than firefox, because firefox 3 still have issue about this.

In den ersten drei Tagen wurde der neue apple-Browser Safari 11 Millionen Mal heruntergeladen. Mehr als sechs Millionen Anwender sollen aus dem Windows-Lager stammen.

Der Einsatz der schnellen Nitro JavaScript Engine hat sich gelohnt bzw. zumindest Interesse hervorgerufen. Dadurch soll der neue Browser seinen Kollegen deutlich voraus sein. Vermutlich hat der Download-Erfolg von 11 Millionen innerhalb der ersten Tage auch mit den neuen Funktionen des Surfbretts zu tun. In questa nuova versione, di cui è stata rilasciata la beta, molte sono le migliorie sponsorizzate dalla casa produttrice del browser.

Sono state introdotte numerose novità, prima tra tutte Opera Turbo, che dovrebbe permettere con connessioni lente un miglioramente nella velocità di caricamento delle pagine: grazie ad una compressione delle immagini (ci ricorda opera mini?)  e dei dati, infatti, l’utente si vede arrivare pagine alleggerite e, nel caso di una connessione lenta, noterà un netto miglioramento nelle prestazioni, è stato dichiarato un “improvement” di circa l’80%.

Altra importante novità rappresenta l’utilizzo del nuovo motore di rendering Presto 2.2: ottimizzato infatti per siti che fanno un pesante uso di Javascript et similaria (vedi Gmail e Facebook), Opera 10 dovrebbe garantire un incremento delle performance del 40% rispetto al vecchio Presto 2.1.

Speed Dial, copiato in Safari 4 (OPS! non si può dire copiato in tv?? per fortuna qui non siamo in tv!!) , reinterpretato in Google Chrome ed esteso da Firefox (mediante gli infiniti componenti aggiuntivi). Speed Dial, su richiesta dei fans, diventa personalizzabile al punto giusto: fino a 25 siti favoriti con uno sfondo a piacere.

Nuovo look e tab ridimensionabili con la possibilità di tenere sempre visibile l’anteprima delle pagine aperte:

Features minori riguardano:

• Inline spell-checker: il tuo broswer ti  correge qaundo sbali a diggitare il testo. (In quasi qualsiasi lingua!)
• Auto-update: finalmente…

Il browser risulta dunque gradevole da utilizzare e da vedere, il motore di rendering risponde prontamente agli stimoli ma, personalmente, giudico migliorabile lo scrolling, ancora piuttosto scattoso. Quest’Opera in sostanza è quasi tutta rock, attendendo fiduciosi la release stable.

Edit: lo scrolling è scattoso finchè non si abilita lo smooth scrolling. Intelligente l’opzione “Show scroll marker”, che abilita un marcatore che tiene traccia del punto della pagina dov’eravamo prima di iniziare lo scroll, per non perdere mail il filo del discorso!

Depois de toda a saga percorrida por mim em busca de um player descente de musica, finalmente encontrei um bom. O iPod Touch. Porém ele não é para todos, poucos tem dinheiro suficiente para comprá-lo. Uma alternativa dentre outros bons players, que também não é para todos mas é mais acessível, é o iPod Nano 4G (iPod Nano-Chromatic). Apesar de não ser nenhuma novidade, a experiência de um usuário é sempre boa quando se está em busca de detalhes sobre o produto. Já que esse não é um dos mais baratos é importante ter certeza do que está comprando.

Uma geral

Começando por onde é pertinente. Seu custo, RS669,00 até que foi bom considerando que foi comprado na Saraiva (isso a livraria). Esse é o modelo mais caro se tratando de Nanos. O motivo para o preço é tão somente a capacidade de armazenamento de 16GB. Além do Nano somente o iPod Touch oferece tantas possibilidades.

Vejam é original:) Atenção para o 16GB em baixo.

Começando pelo acelerômetro. Só ele já torna o nano superior aos outros, claro nenhum outro iPod bate o Touch, não vou ficar repetindo isso. O acelerômetro torna possível coisas como o Cover Flow, jogos legais e o Shake Control. Na verdade o Shake Control é da Sony mas define bem como a coisa funciona. O Cover-Flow é um modo de visualização de álbuns de musica que pode ser acessado deixando o Nano na horizontal. Ainda sobre álbuns de musica, uma coisa bem interessante e característica dele é que as imagens dos álbuns, isso acontece com as fotos também, fica aparecendo em baixo do menu. Isso quando o menu musicas ou fotos está selecionado.

Cover Flow, leitor. Leitor, Cover Flow.

Com 16GB de espaço, apesar de não poder-se esbanjar, dá pra colocar bastante coisa. As musicas e fotos, para o Nano são os itens mais inseridos. Isso porque não é necessário uma tela muito grande para ver uma foto de um momento engraçado. Uma coisa que talvez  esse iPod seja melhor que o Touch são os modos de transição de imagens que são bastante interessantes. Mas essas não são as únicas coisas que ficam boas no na nano tela do iPod. Por incrível que pareça filmes ficam muito bons. Dá para assistir tranqüilo à Star Trek, dublado ou legendado, as legendas são bastante legíveis.

Qualidade de áudio com iPods sempre foi, e até agora é, motivo de orgulho para o papai Jobs, bem como seu design. A Apple parece nunca errar! Caso a “maior tela pequena do mundo”  não te agrade na hora dos filmes, o iPod pode exibi-los na televisão, utilizando o cabo apropriado. Isso acontece também com fotos e musicas.

Uma parte ruim dele, (sim ele tem parte ruim) é que a bateria dura apenas 24h, segundo fabricante. Com 16GB a bateria não permite ouvir todo o repertório armazenado. Menos ainda se for assistido algum vídeo.

Para um produto que não é mais novidade até falei de mais. A não ser que você não more no Brasil os iPods são a melhor escolha no mundo dos players portáteis.Além de tudo ele é ecologicamente correto.

Chave Travada

Atenção para essa chave. Apesar de a tela parecer estar desligada na verdade não está. Ele, a priori só desliga aluz de iluminação. Só depois de alguns segundos que a tela de fato desliga. Mas aparente o iPod está permanentemente ligado.

If you’re totally happy with Windows XP and won’t be upgrading anytime soon, you’re not alone. Just because you don’t want to change your OS doesn’t mean you’re stuck with a boring, 8-year-old desktop.

Nimi Visuals includes 23 different effects, many of which are “inspired” by those seen in OsX and Compiz. Use it to add visual goddness like kinetic effects and transparency or useful arrangement features like edge snapping and maximizing. There’s even a CoverFlow-esque task switcher (invoked via win+tab).

No install is required – just launch the executable and agree to the license. You choose to launch Nimi at startup by placing a check in the white box in the bottom left corner. .Net 2.0 is required.

Some of the effects rendered with a bit of choppiness on my laptop, but it’s running Intel GMA and graphical sluggishness is something I’m accustomed to.

Se você anda procurando por uma boa guerra entre produtos, está com sorte: a guerra dos navegadores voltou a ser travada. Na semana passada, a Microsoft lançou a muito esperada nova versão do Internet Explorer. Enquanto isso, a Apple, Mozilla e Google lançaram recentemente versões de pré-lançamento de seus futuros navegadores.

Eu abri todos os quatro browsers e os submeti à minha rigorosa rotina diária na web. A boa notícia é que todos eles são maravilhosos. Internet Explorer 8 – Depois de anos atrás dos outros inovadores, a Microsoft finalmente lançou um navegador que dá gosto de usar. Versões anteriores do IE eram lentas, propensas a quedas e travamentos, repletas de furos de segurança e não tinham muitos dos recursos úteis encontrados nos outros principais navegadores. E enquanto você as aturava, não podia deixar de pensar que a Microsoft estava contando com sua ignorância para sobreviver, rezando para que você não descobrisse que a vida poderia ser melhor se você se desfizesse do navegador integrado ao Windows.
 
Mas a nova versão dá a qualquer um que abandonou o IE ao longo dos anos um motivo para voltar e dar uma olhada. Ela é rápida, parece resistente a quedas e travamentos e não só iguala os recursos de seus rivais, como alguns casos os supera. Sua lista de abas — o “menu” no topo da tela que cataloga as páginas abertas — demonstra excelência na organização. Digamos que você abra uma aba com o Google e outra com a Amazon, e então abra várias novas abas a partir de links em cada um destes sites. O IE é esperto o suficiente para saber quais abas foram abertas a partir do Google e quais vieram da Amazon, e mostra os diferentes grupos em cores diferentes na lista de abas. Isto me permite simplesmente passar os olhos sobre ela e encontrar a aba que eu preciso mais rapidamente do que eu conseguiria em outros navegadores.

Mas o IE não é perfeito: ele fica bem lento depois que você abre uma dúzia ou mais abas, e também não é tão rápido que os rivais na hora de carregar as páginas complexas da “Web 2.0″, como o GMail e Google Maps. Por fim, o IE só está disponível em versão Windows.
 
Safari 4 Beta – Como era de se esperar, o navegador mais recente a Apple chama a atenção pelo estilo. Entre seus vários requintes visuais, gostei da forma como ele mostra seu histórico de navegação – como uma série de imagens de cada site , as quais você pode “folhear” usando o Cover Flow, mesmo recurso usado para ver as capas de discos em seu iPod. O melhor recurso do Safari é a velocidade: ele briga com o Chrome pelo título de “navegador mais rápido no Windows”, e certamente é o mais rápido no Mac. Mas várias falhas na interface com o usuário ainda me incomodam.

Como o Chrome, o Safari não tem uma “barra de abas”. Em vez disso, ele coloca as abas abertas na barra de menu, o painel mais externo na janela do navegador (a maioria dos outros navegadores usa este espaço para mostrar o título da página atual). Isto deixa mais espaço na tela livre para seus documentos, mas torna as abas do Safari mais difíceis de mover e organizar.

A barra de endereços do Safari – o lugar onde você digita a URL – também fica atrás da de seus rivais. Outros navegadores permitem que você use este espaço como um “site de busca” rápido: digite uma frase, tecle enter e você é levado para a página de resultados. Irritantemente, tudo o que o Safari faz é mostrar uma mensagem de erro quando você tenta fazer isto.

Chrome 2.0 Beta – Quando o Chrome foi lançado em setembro passado, fiquei embasbacado. Desde então, ele só fez melhorar. O que eu mais gosto é a filosofia por trás do seu projeto. O programa parece ter sido feito para um tipo específico de usuário — os “power users”, pessoas que passam o dia todo na web e mantém um número enorme de abas abertas rodando vários sites complexos.

Ao contrário de outros navegadores, o Chrome não vira uma carroça quando está sobrecarregado. Se você tiver dúzias de abas abertas e tentar carregar um video do YouTube, ele será reproduzido perfeitamente. No Firefox 3.0, a mesma situação faria o filme “engasgar”, o que não é nada bom. O Chrome também é muito seguro: em uma conferência recente no Canadá, hackers foram convidados a derrubar todos os principais navegadores. Eles foram capazes de comprometer o Firefox, Safari e IE, mas não conseguiram sequer arranhar o Chrome.

Meu recurso favorito no Chrome é sua barra de endereços, combinada com a barra de busca encontrada no topo da janela da maioria dos navegadores. Nos rivais do Chrome, digitar uma frase na barra de endereços resulta em uma busca em seu histórico de navegação. Digite “new york times” e o navegador vai mostrar uma lista das páginas do jornal que você já visitou.

Outros navegadores podem também sugerir buscas. Digite “new york times” no campo de busca e ele pode sugerir uma pesquisa por “palavras cruzadas do new york times”. O Chrome também faz tudo isso, mas vai além: ele lista resultados de busca no Google. Digite “thomas jefferson” e o Chrome mostra o endereço para o primeiro resultado de busca no Google para esta frase. Você pode até ir direto para a página sobre Thomas Jefferson na Wikipedia sem sequer passar pelo Google.

Mas há algumas desvantagens no Chrome. Em primeiro lugar, por enquanto ele só tem versão para Windows. Em segundo, ele não tem um sistema de complementos, para permitir que terceiros agreguem funções ao navegador. Felizmente, o Google acabou de indicar aos programadores uma forma de criar tais “plug-ins”. Se os programadores começarem a produzí-los em larga escala, o Chrome pode se tornar imbatível.

Firefox 3.1 Beta – Vários anos atrás comecei a usar o Firefox como meu navegador principal. Ele era mais rápido, mais estável e oferecia mais inovação que seus rivais. Com o tempo, entretanto, muitas de suas vantagens se perderam. Esta versão beta corrige alguns dos problemas que haviam se tornado quase intoleráveis no Firefox, entre eles a propensão a consumir memória demais e se tornar insuportavelmente lento se ficasse aberto o dia todo. Descobri que o beta é muito mais rápido e estável que as versões anteriores.

Mas o principal motivo para eu continuar com o Firefox é a enorme quantidade de complementos. Eles me permitem personalizar o navegador exatamente  do jeito que eu quero, um feito que nenhum outro programa consegue igualar. Meu plug-in favorito é o Tab Mix Plus, que me dá ferramentas poderosas para salvar e organizar as muitas abas que acumulo durante um duro dia de trabalho na web.

Se eu abro uma dúzia de páginas relacionadas ao meu mais novo plano para a dominação mundial, por exemplo, posso agrupar todas elas e salvá-las sob um único nome no Tab Mix Plus. Quando eu quiser retomar meus planos maléficos, posso abrir toda a minha velha sessão de navegação de uma vez só. Eu uso o Tab Mix Plus em conjunto com o Foxmarks, que me permite compartilhar favoritos do Firefox entre múltiplos computadores.

Posso criar um favorito para algo em meu laptop e abri-lo no meu desktop. Também não saberia viver sem os “Mouse Gestures” (gestos com o mouse), um plugin que me permite navegar na web com movimentos do pulso. Uma mexidinha rápida do mouse para a esquerda, por exemplo, e o navegador volta à página anterior. É uma forma maravilhosamente preguiçosa de ler as coisas online.

Tanto o Safari quanto o Chrome permitem complementos, então é certamente possível que o Firefox perca esta vantagem. Mas esta é a graça na guerra dos navegadores. Enquanto os rivais se estapeiam em busca de uma maior participação no mercado, vão adicionando recursos melhores a cada nova versão. Seja lá quem for o vencedor, quem fica com todos os benefícios somos nós.

Why do you think there’s such a fixation on your sexuality?

Kanye West: I really think it’s because society tries to dictate the way a guy is supposed to dress and the way a guy is supposed to act, and I refuse to conform. A lot of these dudes would never be accused of being gay just because they all look exactly alike. If people could just realize the amount of mundaneness and followers that lack creativity… I think people’s mentality is like, Only gay people are that creative. And it’s true there are a lot of gay people who are incredible creative minds, but there are straight people who are incredible creative minds—and there’s gay people who can’t dress or create at all, too. Closed-minded gay people probably say they dress “straight.”

For someone who’s known as an egomaniac, you seem to like to collaborate a lot—

Kanye West: Yeah. The fact that I love to collaborate with people, I think, is a very non-arrogant thing. I absorb information, and I want people to know where the information is coming from so those people can be in a position for people to listen to them and capitalize off of the genius that they bring to the table—because I only surround myself with geniuses.

You’ve said 808s is your most personal record. Listening to it, there are recurring themes of trust, cheating and paranoia. Why is that?

Kanye West: Because of mistakes that I’ve made from the beginning by not establishing a proper foundation of trust, just being a young dude who’s not trustworthy. Whoever you’re with is a reflection of you. It’s hard to be fully forgiven. People forgive but they don’t forget.
