Sorry I missed yesterday’s newspaper. We had to leave early for Thanksgiving. But there’s a lot to do today. The newspaper is bursting of stuff to come! Who knew that for once it would be this way?

The recent “chill” on the island has gotten the island excited. To celebrate winter’s coming, the Ski Village is hosting a Snow Maze for members!

Coins for Change will be coming back on Dec. 10th! Get your bells out and get ready to help!

There are a lot of things going on today, but what about everything else?

OKAY! Putting yesterday aside, now for today’s news!  The snow maze has started, but before you go, take a lift up to the Ski Hill. There’s a free blue touge there, and a new sledding catalog!

Pretty sweet, but not as sweet as the snow maze! Head back down to the Ski Village and jump into the maze! If you want to cheat or are really lost, there’s a stand besides the maze entrance that shows you the right way to go! Just click on it and the red button and this map appears.

Take a few twists and turns.. uhm.. wait was it this way? No this way. Ah! Here we are! The end of the maze!

Go inside the strange cave with strange *hint* footprints outside and pick up a Yeti outfit!

…….I feel like this was planned… *murmur murmur* Oh! Sorry. Ignore me. =^_^=”‘

After you leave the maze, go to the sport shop. There’s a new catalog for you to look at. I really think the green team is becoming popular..

Uh yeah…

Anyways, there’s only three secrets in this one. The green hockey outfit, hidden in the cheering green penguin, the green goaly outfit, hidden in another cheering green penguin, and the white pom-poms, hidden in the word, “ice”.

Is there anything I’m forgetting… Oh! Yes! On the walls of the Fire Dojo are now instructions and the legend, like in the regular dojo.

And another thing Club Penguin forgot to announce! We have new music in our igloos!

Terça-feira, 1º. de dezembro, ginásio do Colégio Dom Bosco (Renascença) receberá cerca de 3 mil caravaneiros vindos de todas as regiões do Maranhão.

Após cinco caravanas regionais, realizadas nos municípios de Santa Quitéria, Imperatriz, Bacabal, Santa Inês e Presidente Dutra, visitando mais de 50 municípios, colhendo depoimentos (gravados em áudio e vídeo) e provas (documentos, cópias de processos, fotografias etc.) da violação de direitos pela ausência, omissão ou conivência do poder judiciário, a Cáritas Brasileira Regional Maranhão e a Conferência Nacional dos Bispos do Brasil Regional Nordeste V, junto a um conjunto de organizações e entidades da sociedade civil realizam terça-feira, 1º. de dezembro, a partir das 7h30min (horário em que terá início o credenciamento das caravanas vindas de municípios do interior do estado), a etapa estadual do Tribunal Popular do Judiciário.

A plenária popular acontecerá no ginásio do Colégio Dom Bosco, no Renascença (ao lado do Bobs, em frente ao Tropical Shopping Center). O comitê organizador estima um público de aproximadamente 3 mil pessoas. “Esse processo teve início em junho, quando lançamos o Tribunal Popular do Judiciário no auditório da OAB. Ali ainda nem tínhamos a dimensão do que se tornaria esse grande e pleno exercício de mobilização social e de denúncia, e já conseguimos reunir 500 pessoas de todo o Maranhão. Após percorrer todos esses municípios e ter realizado todo esse trabalho, de ouvir o sofrimento das pessoas mais humildes, é natural percebermos o crescimento do interesse pela temática”, afirma Ricarte Almeida Santos, secretário executivo da Cáritas Brasileira Regional Maranhão.

Diversas entidades nacionais confirmaram presença na plenária estadual do Tribunal Popular do Judiciário: Instituto de Estudos Sócio-econômicos (INESC), a organização Justiça Global, Secretaria Especial de Direitos Humanos da Presidência da República (SEDH-PR), Secretariado Nacional da Cáritas Brasileira e o Fórum Nacional de Ouvidores de Segurança Pública. Também participarão as entidades membro do comitê organizador da ação: além de Cáritas e CNBB, estarão presentes representantes da Sociedade Maranhense de Direitos Humanos (SMDH), Conselho Indigenista Missionário (CIMI), Associação de Saúde da Periferia do Maranhão (ASP/MA), Redes e Fóruns de Cidadania, Movimento dos Trabalhadores e Trabalhadoras Rurais Sem Terra do Maranhão (MST/MA), Comissão Pastoral da Terra (CPT), e Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil (OAB/MA), além de outras entidades da sociedade civil maranhense.

Uma comissão de sistematização, formada por profissionais das entidades do comitê organizador do Tribunal Popular do Judiciário conseguiu registrar, de acordo com os depoimentos colhidos ao longo das caravanas regionais, 17 tipificações de falhas do poder judiciário em sua atuação no estado do Maranhão. De cada, serão apresentados cerca de três depoimentos previamente selecionados, na etapa final, terça-feira que vem. Advogados populares e a mesa de trabalhos irão se posicionar sobre os temas e depoimentos. A etapa estadual do Tribunal Popular do Judiciário será encerrada com a Marcha Por Justiça de Verdade, slogan do TPJ, que fará o percurso entre o Ginásio do Colégio Dom Bosco, local da atividade, até a Praça Pedro II, onde está localizada a sede do Tribunal de Justiça do Estado do Maranhão, em frente ao qual será realizado o ato de encerramento da atividade.

O comitê organizador da ação encaminhará a diversos órgãos nacionais e internacionais de controle do poder judiciário, toda a documentação levantada, além do trabalho de sistematização já iniciado.

Lots of you are already Card-Jitsu Fire experts! But I wanted to give you some game info in case you haven’t had a chance to play the new game in the Fire Dojo yet:

General Stuff:

• There are practice mats for 2, 3, and 4 players. You can play with friends there.
• If you talk to Sensei, and you pick the “Earn your Fire Suit” option, he’ll set up a match. You get more experience points if you do this.
• You can enter new offline trading card codes and you’ll get cards added to your online deck. You won’t see the animations in the Card-Jitsu Fire game but you can see them if you’re playing the original Card-Jitsu game.

How to Play:

• On your turn, select the stone which determines the spaces you move, choose your tile (you have 2 options), and then you’ll pick your card to determine the outcome of the round.
• If you land on one of these, - choose a card. The highest number wins. If you don’t have the element, you cannot win that round.
• If you end up with this symbol, or if you land on the same space as an opponent, you’re going to have a Card-Jitsu battle – the elements determine the winner (water beats fire, etc. as in the original Card-Jitsu).
• If you end up on this symbol,  you get to choose which of the 3 elements you’d like to play!
• If you’re playing and someone quits, you get the experience points. If you quit, you don’t get any points.

It’s here! If you’re a member ninja and have the mask and the Amulet, head to the Fire Dojo now for the chance to play Card-Jitsu Fire first!!

4 ninjas can play all at once – If you want to practice with friends, you can go to the mats – or if you want to earn your Fire Suit, talk to Sensei! There are a couple of different types of battles you can have on the game board.

Hey – those of you with new Card-Jitsu Fire trading card codes have been getting a message that we weren’t quite ready for them. We’re really sorry for the delay – and we wanted to say thank you for being so patient! They’re ready now and you can redeem them for your online cards. We also wanted to remind you that if you see anything that could be a bug, let us know so we can squash it…

I’m online right now and updating as I play! Go to the Fire Dojo and talk to Sensei. He’ll guide you through it. First off though, you’ll receive a new deck of fire cards. Awesome huh?

Click on Sensei’s outfit and he’ll explain how you can earn your own. I think it looks pretty snazzy! After you earn your fire suit, challenge Sensei to receive a gem for your amulet!

Onto challenging, check out the battlefield! It’s epic! We’re actually in the volcano!

Depending on how many players you have, you take turns moving. When it’s your turn, Click on one of the tiles in the center. A number will show up. You will then pick which spot to go to. Depending on which one you go to, you will have to use a certain type of card.

For instance, if you got a choice between snow or fire from getting the number 5, you would choose one and use that type of card that you have in your deck. Whoever chooses the higher number card wins. Your choice of card is on the left side, while the others cards are shown on the right.

At the beginning of the game, you start out with 6 energy points. If you win against someone else, you will keep your points. But if you lose against someone, you will lose an energy point. You can keep track of how many you have. It will be next to your name and penguin.

If you land on a spot where another penguin is standing, you and them are engaged in a card-jitsu battle, just like old card-jitsu. Fire beats ice, ice beats water, and water beats fire. In a battle like this, if you win, you earn an energy point. If you lose, the other person earns an energy point instead. If you all tie, none of you will lose your energy.

The five different tiles lined around the battlefield are ice, fire, water, VS player and you choose.

The VS player space is where you can challenge a certain player, unless you’re in a one-on-one battle. You are then engaged in a card-jitsu battle. If you win here you will also win an energy point, just like landing on a spot with another player.

If you land on the you choose the element space, you will be able to pick which element you want to battle with. I’d suggest using the element that is the highest number in your deck.

If you want to see how you’re progressing, click on the card set on the bottom right hand corner of the screen in the Fire Dojo. You earn EXP from winning matches; 1st, 2nd, and I think 3rd sometimes. The progress bar shows you how far away you are until your next item to build your Fire Suit with. I belive there are… 4 items you need to earn. But trust me, it won’t be easy!

Ah! One more very important thing. In some cases, another player may land on a tile and you don’t have a card element of that type. In a situation like that, you automaticly lose that turn, although you still have to pick a card. I would pick the lowest card in your deck just to get rid of it.

I trying to get my brain back onto the train of thought. I lost it in the last battle.. Anyways, I don’t think there’s anything else that I can share with you in order to play the game. But hey, why listen to me ramble on? Go play the game for yourself and find out what else I forgot! (Please post a comment if I left something out or some information is wrong, thank you!)

With the new ninja game coming out soon, the CPT is coming out with more and more power cards to use against your opponents! In fact they have a sneak peek of a WOP (Work in Progress) card! I really want it just because it looks cool and it involves my favorite penguin on the island.

The game officially launches November 24th and the island’s heating up!! I wanted to give you guys a sneak peek into what the new ninja fire journey might have in store for you… This is from one of the new power cards:

What do you think? Also, You’ve asked – and along with a lot of ninja toys (including soft Limited Edition Penguins and Mix ‘N Match figures), we’ve got more Card-Jitsu Trading Cards available in stores!

Inside the new tins (including the Card-Jitsu Fire Sensei Collector tin) there’s a sheet so you can check off the Trading Cards that you’ve got!! The cards are available now at a lot of places including Target, Walmart, Toys ‘R’ Us, and Disney Stores. You can also get them online at Disney.com – and the CP Online Shop starting November 24th.

Goodness! That’s an awful lot of power cards! It’s enough to make a collection! Shoot, now I want some. :3

I’m excited for the upcoming game, and I wonder what it’ll be like. Probably like Card-Jitsu, only slightly different. Oh yeah! How do you like my new header? I’m really proud of it because it took a while to finish.

Hello fellow ninjas, I met Sensei again, but his visit today was short. We played two games after he spoke of our training, then he had to go. I guess Sensei is busy today. None the less, it was an enjoyable time.There was a large crowd though, so that took some pleaser away from it.

Then we played a game. Sensei asked us to throw snowballs at the sea animal gong that he called. He said seahorse and we all laughed because there wasn’t one.

Then he asked us what our favorite game was and most of us said Card-Jitsu. When someone asked him if he wanted to play it, he said, “No, I need a break from Card-Jitsu.” I can understand that. He battles a lot of penguins each day. Take as long of a break you want Sensei. You deserve it. (Shoot I forgot to save the picture)

Of course, all good things have to end sometime, and Sensei poofed away in a cloud of smoke. Who knows, maybe I’ll see him again soon!

Okay, putting Ninja business aside, let’s get onto the furniture! There is a new furniture catalog ready to prep you for the chilly winter! With some pretty preppy furniture too!

I daresay, there are a lot of hidden secrets today. Twelve to be exact. First secret is the first and second page with three secrets hidden on them. One, the coat rack, hidden in the chair cushion, two, the wood stove, hidden in the table leg, and three, the shoe rack hidden int he sunken ship at the bottom of the fish tank.

Next two secrets are the fireplace, hidden in the snow fort tower, and the icicles, hidden in the snow wall.

Two more are the puffle jack-o-lantern, hidden in a single block on brick and the cauldron, hidden in the broken upstairs window.

Coming soon to an end, the LCD tv is hidden in the sad jack-o-lantern’s smile, while the goofy jack-o-lantern is hidden in the tombstone.

Only three more to go! The piano, hidden in the ticket booth speaker, the bowling alley hidden in the corner of the window, and the fridge, hidden in the stove burner turner oner thingy.. I don’t remember what it was called..

I get the sence that the Club Penguin Team is trying to make the catalogs a tad bit harder, don’t you?

There are no new secrets in the Igloos Updates catalog, but there is a new wintery igloo! Personally, I think it would be easier if you just shovel snow into your igloo… but that’s just my opinion. There’s no wintery floor, but then again, I wouldn’t really want snow in my kitchen..

Lastly for the day, is the pin. It’s a yummy hot chocolate cup with chocolate sprinkles, cinnamon sticks and whipped cream! YUM! Pick up this tasty treat for a pin in the Coffee Shop next to the couches!

Happy cold Friday! Norman’s Swarm is huge! You get zapped on the way in to be turned SUPER TINY! OI! So much to update on!

Once inside, to get to the secret underground room, you have to stand on an X and have four other penguins on one also. At least one of them has to be wearing a costume from the catalog.

Once downstairs, do the same to open the big chest! Then an awesome pin is there!

There are some new postcards too.

Hehehe… For the ninjas, HEAD TO THE HIDEOUT! There’s a bunch of awesome things there! For one the amulet, which is so shiny..

After buying the amulet, click on the fire sign and head to the new Dojo on the volcano!

One word. EPIC. Actually, DOUBLE EPIC! The music’s epic, the place is epic, everything about it is EPIC!

The title of this post comes from a very nice and inspiring presentation by Gareth Davies, on IWBs and the potential benefits of its use in the classroom. As a “tech” fan myself, I’d answer the question with a FRIEND in capital letters. I truly understand the IWBs are certainly not the solution to all our teaching needs, and you souldn’t overuse it, but I can’t agree at all that there’s nothing useful to say about them.

As with any other tool in our classrooms, there are good and bad things about them. All we have to do is find the best way (and softwares) to use it for the benefit of our students. I’d just like to point out some very good things you can do with one in an EFL classroom.

1) Exploiting pictures from the book encouraging a heads up learning mode.

2) Doing feedback by using the “shade” revealing the answers bit by bit.

3) Saving your work and being able to use it again next class.

4) Playing guessing games with pictures and the “flashlight” mode.

5) Presenting grammar and vocabulary items.

6) Playing interactive or kinaesthetic games.

7) Having all the components (CDs, CDROMs, DVDs, SBs, WBs, Websites, etc) in one single place.

Finally I’d say that, mostly for kids, IWBs and digital teaching materials are a great motivation tool since, as digital natives, they’re are quite interested in anything that relates to computers. In fact, I’m experiencing this right now with my eight-year-old son. He was not very interested in learning English with the traditional books, then since I had the Happy Series I-Tools installed in my computer, I decided to give it a try.

Guess what? Now whenever I’m home, instead of asking me to play video games or soccer with him, he wants me to teach him English!!! No wonder why all OUP books are now coming up now with one type of CPT (Classroom Presentation Tool).

This is the 21st century, my friends and, even if we are a bit affraid of technology, we will have to catch up if we want to be steady in the ELT market for the next 10, 20, or 30 years.

Assunto: Falta de Reforma Agrária em Salto da Divisa, no Vale do Jequitinhonha, MG, causa ameaças de morte à Irmã Geraldinha (Geralda Magela da Fonseca)

Geralda Magela da Fonseca, conhecida carinhosamente como “Irmã Geraldinha, freira dominicana da Congregação Romana de São Domingos – CRSD – por causa da atuação pastoral libertadora de Irmã Geraldinha ela tem sofrido uma série de ameaças de morte, assim como membros do Acampamento Dom Luciano e militantes do MST na região. E, pior: as ameaças estão se intensificando.
Em 07 de novembro de 2008, conforme Boletim de Ocorrência – B.O.P.C. 033/2008 – os Sem Terra do Acampamento Dom Luciano tinham recebido ameaças de morte e por isso fizeram B.O. Neste dia, Irmã Geraldinha estava em Salto da Divisa, devido aos recados de ameaças de morte que já vinha recebendo. Frei Emílio Sant Piro, pároco da Paróquia São Sebastião, de Salto da Divisa, por precaução, não deixou Irmã Geraldinha ir de ônibus para o Acampamento Dom Luciano Mendes; emprestou a ela um automóvel e o Sr. José Carlos levou-a ao acampamento por volta das 17:00h. Por volta das 18:00h, já estando no Acampamento Dom Luciano, Irmã Geraldinha foi avisada por telefone que, caso ainda estivesse na cidade, não deveria voltar ao Acampamento, porque pessoas suspeitas teriam descido do carro da Comerciante Margareth dizendo que ficariam lá na estrada de acesso ao Acampamento esperando Irmã Geraldinha para bater nela e quebrar-lhe o pescoço. Acampados viram dois “jagunços” escondidos próximo ao 2º mata-burro, estrada única de chegada ao Acampamento.
Em 2008 um sujeito que tinha sido expulso do Acampamento pela coordenação por mau comportamento causou vários conflitos no acampamento dom Luciano. Muitas vezes, estava alcoolizado. Ameaçou Irmã Geraldinha dizendo que já havia matado 15 e que poderia chegar a 16 “daqui pra li”. Dona Cleonice, tia de Irmã Marilande, testemunhou esta ameaça.
Durante o 1º semestre de 2009, Irmã Geraldinha continuou recebendo várias ameaças através de recados mandados e por telefone.
Havia uma promessa dos ameaçadores que caso o latifundiário  Ronaldo da Cunha Peixoto – integrante da diretoria da Fundação Tinô da Cunha, que é a proprietária da Fazenda Monte Cristo (a que o MST exige que seja desapropriada, porque não está cumprindo sua função social, é improdutiva.) – ganhasse a eleição Municipal extraordinária dia 26 de julho de 2009, eles iriam lá acabar com o Acampamento Dom Luciano. Ronaldo “ganhou”. Os acampados foram avisados que ficassem preparados.
No dia 27 de julho de 2009, um dia após a eleição para prefeito, houve várias ameaças por telefone dizendo que eles iriam lá queimar o acampamento. Dois agressores soltaram dois foguetes em direção ao Acampamento. O povo do acampamento se juntou. Pegou várias caixas de foguetes que estavam em poder dos agressores junto com um “giranda” (fogueteira).
No dia 28 de julho de 2009, uma terça-feira, por volta das 12:00h, depois de vários telefonemas de ameaças aos acampados do acampamento Dom Luciano Mendes e à Irmã Geraldinha, apareceu na estrada ao lado do acampamento Dom Luciano um carro com quatro pessoas – uma delas já denunciada pelo acampamento em novembro de 2008 – passando pelo acampamento no exato momento em que apareceu um fogo no mato à beira da estrada, próxima às lavouras dos acampados, ao lado do acampamento. O povo já assustado com as ameaças se reuniu e foi para a portaria do Acampamento. O carro foi lá em cima, retornou. O povo reconheceu os suspeitos, parou o carro e chamou a polícia, mas sem conseguir falar com a polícia, depois de várias tentativas, Irmã Geraldinha, ligou para o GADDH, em Salto da Divisa, que tentou entrar em contato pessoalmente com o polícia também sem sucesso, pois não tinha ninguém no “quartel”. Outra pessoa, solidária com o Acampamento, ligou para delegacia da cidade de Jacinto. Mais ou menos 2:15h após chegou a polícia de Salto. O povo pediu aos policiais que dessem busca no carro e nos quatro homens integrantes do carro. Isto não foi feito. Logo após a chegada da viatura outros dois “jagunços” – de repente apareceram no local.
Alguém da coordenação do Acampamento Dom Luciano falou à Polícia da cidade de Jacinto de todas as ameaças e difamações ao Acampamento e à pessoa de Irmã Geraldinha, veiculadas pela Rádio Aracuã (de Salto da Divisa), no programa Jornal do meio dia.
Após este acontecimento, outras ameaças foram feitas. Um acampado, ao chegar na cidade de Salto, deparou com um ameaçador que disse que estava juntando um grupo de pessoas do Baianão (distrito da Bahia) para ir ao acampamento e acabar com tudo. “A primeira cabeça que quero ver rolar é a da tal de Geraldinha. Ela só irá ficar quieta quando acontecer com ela o que aconteceu com Irmã Dorothy Stang”, teria tido o ameaçador.

Ao ser questionada por um policial, Irmã Geraldinha disse:
“Fico uma parte de meu tempo lá no Acampamento Dom Luciano junto com o povo ajudando eles a se organizarem em projetos e atividades produtivas, educativas, religiosas. Convivo com eles, pois são meus irmãos em Cristo. Não poço deixá-los desamparados. Tem que ter alguém por eles/com eles. Ajudo no que posso para que eles tenham mais conhecimentos para defenderem seus direitos. São pessoas simples que sempre sobreviveram nas fazendas, foram empurradas para a cidade e hoje, no Acampamento Dom Luciano, estão tendo oportunidade e esperança para continuar sua profissão de agricultor. Não tiveram oportunidade de estudar, muitas vezes não sabem dos direitos que têm. Juntos aprendemos a viver melhor, eles com a sabedoria do campo e eu fazendo o que poço.”

No dia 28 de julho de 2009, foram feitos dois Boletins de Ocorrência. A polícia de Salto da Divisa fez o B.O. n. 0775/2009 criminalizando Irmã Geraldinha e Regis (que não tem nada a ver com o acampamento). Esse B.O. gerou muita indignação no Acampamento Dom Luciano e fomentou a insegurança reinante. Por outra perspectiva, a polícia de Jacinto, através do “comandante” Homero, fez outro B.O., no qual reconhece como vítimas os acampados e aponta Paulo Roberto, Ilton Guimarães, Ademilson e Renato Soares como agressores.
O sr. Adriano, José dos Santos, Edilânia, sr. Manoel e dona Gildênia, do Acampamento Dom Luciano, também têm recebido várias ameaças de morte.
Dia 29 de outubro de 2009, pela manhã, uma mulher telefonou para a Irmã Geraldinha, no celular dela, e disse: “Irmã Geraldinha, você vai nos pagar por tudo que você está nos fazendo.” À tarde, um homem telefonou para Irmã Geraldinha dizendo: “Quando você passar na frente da minha casa, você vai levar um tiro na cara.” Na mesma tarde, outro homem telefonou para Irmã Geraldinha e disse: “Qualquer dia você vai levar um tiro na cara e não vai saber quem deu.” Como Irmã Geraldinha estava no meio de pessoas que ela não queria alarmar com o que estava acontecendo, preferiu desligar o celular, não ouvir mais e nem tentar discutir com as pessoas ameaçadoras. Irmã Geraldinha não reconheceu a voz dos que telefonaram ameaçando. Eram pessoas estranhas.
No Sábado, dia 31 de outubro de 2009, um jovem viu um corsa preto (com vidros escuros, com 4 pessoas) na cancela, junto do mata-burro, próximo ao Acampamento Dom Luciano. O motorista (homem moreno, 1,72 metros mais ou menos) perguntou ao jovem se ele conhecia Irmã Geraldinha. Ele disse que não conhecia Irmã Geraldinha, que ela já tinha ido embora.
No dia seguinte, dia 01 de novembro de 2009, um domingo, quando dona Gildênia, chegava em sua casa, em Salto da Divisa, um homem bateu na porta da sua casa perguntando: “Onde está Irmã Geraldinha?” Ela disse que não estava ali. Perguntou se estava no Acampamento Dom Luciano. Gildênia respondeu que Irmã Geraldinha estava viajando. Dona Gildênia viu que o homem que lhe perguntara sobre Irmã Geraldinha era um dos quatro que estavam em um corsa preto, com vidros escuros (estavam meio-abaixado na hora). O homem que perguntava tinha uma tatuagem no braço direito, era branco, baixo, cabelo anelado, de óculos preto, com sapato preto.

Por que tantas e graves ameaças de morte à Irmã Geraldinha?

Desde 1993, Irmã Geraldinha, em Salto da Divisa, se dedicou ao acompanhamento dos Grupos de Reflexão Bíblica, organização de Cebs – Comunidades Eclesiais de Base – e de Associações Comunitárias que resultaram na criação das Associações de pescadores, das lavadeiras, dos pedreiros, de moradores… Coordenou a Pastoral da Juventude – PJ – e sucessivamente  a Pastoral da Criança; ambas, em nível Paroquial e Diocesano; ela coordenou, também, em Salto da Divisa, as atividades da Associação Asas da Esperança, cuja finalidade era dar suplementação educacional para as crianças carentes; além de dar assistência à Rádio Comunitária (criada sob liderança das Irmãs Dominicanas) e em especial ao Grupo de Apoio e Defesa dos Direito Humanos – GADDH – de Salto da Divisa, do qual, hoje, Irmã Geraldinha é vice-presidente.
Todo esse trabalho pastoral libertador desaguou na luta pela Reforma Agrária em Salto da Divisa. O MST – Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra – chegou também a Salto da Divisa e com o apoio e participação ativa de Irmã Geraldinha, na madrugada do dia 26 de agosto de 2006, com cerca de 185 famílias Sem Terra ocuparam a Fazenda Manga do Gustavo para pressionar a desapropriação da Fazenda Monte Cristo, que é improdutiva e não está cumprindo função social. Ai se instalou o Acampamento Dom Luciano Mendes que vem sendo acompanhado por Irmã Geraldinha desde o início. A ocupação foi feita porque o processo de desapropriação no INCRA-MG (Processo n.º 54170003519/2005-30) não avançava. É sabido na região que a atuação pastoral de Irmã Geraldinha sido crucial para angariar apoio popular à causa do Acampamento Dom Luciano Mendes.
Em janeiro de 2009, Irmã Geraldinha se dedicou também à organização de 11 famílias de posseiros da fazenda Monte Cristo. E, é claro, iniciou a defendê-los lutando ao lado deles pelos seus sagrados e justos direitos. Irmã Geraldinha como vice-presidente do Grupo de Apoio e Defesa dos Direitos Humanos – GADDH -, foi convidada pelos posseiros da Fazenda Monte Cristo/Fundação Tinô da Cunha para ajudá-los a superar uma situação de injustiça com seus direitos sendo violados.
Além do dito acima, hoje, Irmã Geraldinha é integrante da Comissão Pastoral da Terra – CPT –, no Vale do Jequitinhonha, integra o Conselho provincial e a Comissão de Justiça e Paz da Irmãs Romanas de São Domingos.
O trabalho pastoral de Irmã Geraldinha conta com o total apoio da Diocese de Almenara, do bispo Dom Hugo Steekelenburg, das Irmãs Dominicanas, da CPT, dos frades franciscanos Capuchinhos e das organizações de Direitos Humanos e sociais, em nível nacional e internacional.
Enfim, a causa maior das graves ameaças de morte à Irmã Geraldinha e a outras lideranças do MST no Vale do Jequitinhonha é porque a Reforma agrária está parada, não sai do papel. Exigimos que o INCRA, Governo Federal e Poder Judiciário consumam o processo de desapropriação da Fazenda Monte Cristo, em Salto da Divisa, MG, e assente as 85 famílias Sem Terra que estão debaixo da lona preta há três anos e sendo submetidas a ataques freqüentes de jagunços e inimigos da Reforma Agrária.
Por reforma agrária no Vale do Jequitinhonha e em todo o Brasil. Pelo fim do latifúndio.

Em tempo, o Programa Nacional de Proteção aos defensores dos Direitos Humanos, da Secretaria Especial dos Direitos Humanos da Presidência da República, já fez inspeção em Salto da Divisa, dia 17/09/2009, produziu um PARECER que recomenda a diversos órgãos públicos proteção à Irmã Geraldinha e a outros integrantes do MST ameaçados de Morte.
Irmã Geraldinha e a CPT-MG já fizeram REPRESENTAÇÃO junto à Procuradoria de Justiça – CAO de conflitos Agrários – Dr. Afonso Henrique de Miranda Teixeira -, que por sua vez encaminhou a Denúncia-REPRESENTAÇÃO:
a)Ao Chefe da Polícia Civil de Minas Gerais, Dr. Marco Antônio;
b)Ao Coronel Renato, comandante Geral da Polícia Militar de Minas Gerais;
c)Ao Promotor de Justiça da Comarca de Jacinto, Dr. Bruno César Medeiros Jardim;
d)Ao Deputado Durval Ângelo, presidente da Comissão de Direitos Humanos da Assembleia Legislativa de Minas Gerais.
