“The more we trust each other to live our own lives, the more there is to share with each other”.

Talent can often be found in the strangest of people or places. If the current trend of TV reality shows such as Britain’s Got Talent and X-Factor are anything to go by, offering everyone and anyone the chance to showcase their talent, there are talented individuals waiting to hit the limelight. Oh and of course let’s not forget the multiple Andrew Llyod Webber exploits into finding the next Joseph, Maria and Nancy talent contests, so it’s about time that we saw a little of this talent searching in other aspects of theatre.

Enter stage left Script This… brought to you by the Broadway Theatre Barking team.

Even in the depths of Barking at the Broadway Theatre, a place I had never experienced but completely fell for its charm on Thursday night, is showing that talent is everywhere and needs to have a platform. Their ongoing programme of Script This… invites new and unpublished budding playwrights from any background to submit their scripts to the Broadway Theatre where they are all read, returned with feedback but the most important part, given the chance to appear in their monthly Script This… event.

Four scripts are selected by the Script This team to appear in a short 10 pages, script-in-hand performance, directed by The Broadway Theatres artistic director, Karena Johnson, and professional actors. They are all rehearsed, and presented in the same day, which makes the process even more exciting.

Then in front of a small audience the plays are presented. Yet what makes this event different is after every short extract the audience discuss their thoughts and feelings on the piece. Did they enjoy it? What worked, what was lost? The feedback is valuable as hidden amongst the audience are the playwrights themselves, but are only revealed at the end. After the discussions the audience then vote by manner of a card system, green for you liked it and want more, yellow for it was good, and red for you never want to see it again. The cards are totted up and the extract that gets the highest mark moves onto the next round where they can produce another extract at the next event.

The reason that I’m very taken with Script This… comes from the experience which I had at the event. There is something edgy and fresh about the night, where I find myself sitting next to two complete strangers but bonding over our opinions on the scripts being presented.

It was clear that not everyone within the audience were from theatre backgrounds or in the industry themselves, but this made the whole experience even more exciting. By discussing the scripts openly amongst a collection of mixed individuals and groups was rewarding to say the least.

I’ve often found that criticism from those within the industry to at times be too bogged down with the ‘know-it-all’ approach to theatre, so why not have someone who is completely fresh and new to plays and writing discussing their honest, open views? Encouraging discussion about the plays means that the playwrights gain an insight into what a whole collection of people thought about their work. At times the views are conflicting but this makes for interesting debates around the work.

Whilst I will openly admit that I am far from a critic or expert of plays and playwriting – my views were justly heard and discussed by the audience. Script This… really works in two ways; by engaging the audience with new writing work never seen before, and equally of the writers gaining feedback and an opportunity to showcase their work.

The Broadway Theatre in Barking really has taken up a challenge to broaden their work, and one which I fully support. If talent is to be found anywhere, then why not in Barking? Script This… will be returning to The Broadway Theatre in January and is highly recommended for a creative and inspiring night out at the theatre (with a difference).

See The Broadway Theatre website for details on Script This… and future events.

This article on mens trail running will give you just a brief overview about what trail running is really all about. And it is not only just for men. In fact, this style of running is enjoyed by both young people as well as retired folks, by men as well as women. Cross country running is a terrific way to both get some great exercise as well as enjoy the great outdoors.

This type of running is also better on the joints and ligaments than your standard running on streets, bike paths or tarmac. I hope that after reading this article you will get out there and go for a run with nature. Nothing can be more exhilarating than the smell of pine and damp leaves underfoot as you travel along the paths in between trees and brush. It is such a rush, that only experiencing it can you really understand the joy.

Thankfully, mens trail running, and when I say men I am really including all folks who trail run, is becoming a much bigger sport as years go by. But what is it exactly. What makes this kind of running different from running in the park or on the street? Let me explain.

So many people complain that running becomes boring or too difficult as they age. Running on hard surfaces jars the joints over time, even with today’s super cushioned shoes. But even those who have given up on regular running are able to find a renewed love affair with the outdoors and exercise when taking up trail running. Cross country running is basically any running that takes place in “real” nature. This does not include a nice job around the bike path at your local park.

In fact most of us are used to trails that we hike in on the weekends. Well friends, if you choose to run or jog these trails, give yourself a pat on the back, as you’ve just done some awesome running. One of the great joys of mens trail running is the inexpensiveness of the sport. All you need is a good pair of running shoes made for trails which can be had for less than $100. Join us at my blog where we explore more ways for you to enjoy this style of running for everyone.

Shoes, more than any other article of clothing, have really come a long way in the past century. 100

Shoes, more than any other article of clothing, have really come a long way in the past century. 100 years ago, most people, men and women alike, had just one or maybe two pair of shoes- day shoes for work and night shoes for anything else.

In 2006, even the most modest of men probably have at least 5 pair. There’s tennis shoes, dress shoes, dress casual shoes, sandals, work boots, hiking boots and more, all just for men. And you would be hard pressed to find an American woman who owned less than 10-15 pair of shoes in this day and age- pumps, high heels, short heels, sandals in hundreds of varieties, and more.

But according to a recent internet poll by http://www.krstarica.com, 41% of Americans surveyed buy new shoes several times per year. That’s great news if you own a shoe store. But how do you ensure that those customers keep coming back to you? Running a successful shoe store in 2006 starts with minding the supply and design of the store. It is important to use these elements to create an environment that your customers will feel comfortable in.

Start with the details, because those are the things that customers notice first. Small things like having plenty of shoe mirrors and properly displaying your products can make a big difference. It’s easy to get caught up in having the latest and greatest products. That’s fine. But remember that shopping is an experience for customers, and that takes into account the whole store and staff, not just products.

Here are a few pointers to keep in mind when designing your shoe store to help you attract and retain customers:

Pay Attention to Aisle Spacing: In an effort to offer the most, we sometimes forget that the most important thing to a shoe store customer is comfort. Make the store design reflect that ideal of comfort, and supply plenty of space in each aisle for several customers to try on and test out shoes at any given time.

Mirror, Mirror on the Floor: Give customers a convenient way to check out their new kicks by providing plenty of floor mirrors that will give them an “all-angles” look at their shoes. Second only to (and sometimes even more important than) comfort is style.

Put Your Products on Display: Again, instead of getting caught up in supplying more products, do a better job of providing better products and better displays for those products. Customers are much more prone to try on shoes they’ve seen on display than dig through boxes to find the right color and design for their tastes.

It’s difficult to write an article you don’t truly believe in. It’s even more diff

It’s difficult to write an article you don’t truly believe in. It’s even more difficult to reveal your abomination to the world. The article that I refer to is of course the ridiculously entitled “Trams of Tommorow”. From general opinion and self-analysis, it’s fair to say, I’m a bit of a realist (though others may just call me cynical) and so I find it difficult to focus on the positive side of thing’s even when there are very little negative. In hindsight it would have been easier, and probably more practical, to write and article about something with less blatantly evident flaws in it.

Like my Holyrood article, it wasn’t so much writing the words down I found hard, but the feeling of regret, and remorse for what really should have been said but didn’t because I had to be positive in order fit the criteria. I kind off hit a wall when it came to ideas. I did have one about the growing influence of the comedy scene in Edinburgh. As of last year, it’s is now home to a separate comedy festival and of course, the famous ‘Stand’ comedy club, but another member of the class had a very similar idea and I didn’t feel it would be appropriate to do an article on it to.

Going into writing the article I tried to be positive with the mentality that ‘There must be some genuinely good reason for why it’s being built. Especially at such inconvenience to stores, and at the cost of the taxpayer in the middle of a recession.’ However, upon researching it, all I could find extremely negative press, and deluded officials who just wanted to leave their mark on the city, maybe discovered it was a bad idea, but then decided they were to far gone to back down even when they had slim to no support from the general public. I’m not saying that the Trams are a bad idea. The points in my article are all valid ones. It would be great for public transport to run efficiently, cheap, and in an eco friendly manner; but we don’t live in an ideal world and in the current climate Trams just aren’t a sutable solution. Also, I can’t help but feel the whole appeal of the Trams was perhaps exaggerated by the officials as well as by me in my article.

As I’ve already stated, The times we live in are financially unstable. Banks are closing and apparently, bankers are stealing my parents money. In such unsure times, to begin work on a project that requires so much financial dedication seems like a silly move. There is no need for a tram system at this time. The buses are running fine- yes perhaps they aren’t as kind to the enviroment as Trams, but we have plenty of time before the world ends in 2012. It’s just a bit to impractical at the moment.

I also felt the idea that the Trams would bring more economy and revenue to the city with tourists was fatally flawed. If I, or any other were to ask, say, an average American, “Why would you visit Edinburgh?”, or, “What do you think of when you think of Edinburgh?” They would probably say, “Is that in Iraq or sumin’?” in an atrocious, almost incomprehensible dialect. However, if you asked say, an American with a brain, the same question they would undoubtedly answer “Castles, hills and haggis…..and maybe ginger haired people”. Tourists do not visit a city simply for its superb, eco-friendly transport system (except maybe a select few). It does perhaps makes the place seem like a more legitimate city to buisnessmen but now we’re get into realms of insecurity like girls and their make up. The Trams upon reflection offer very little and I just don’t feel the results fully justifies the inconvenience, money and time it’s taken and will take to finish them. Try walking or if you must, ride a bike.

Hey everyone, This is Charlie again to talk about a topic that has been on my mind for a long time.

Hey everyone,

This is Charlie again to talk about a topic that has been on my mind for a long time.

So for a science project, we had to make clay models of an animal cell. For the presentation, we had to, using f–king Windows Movie Maker, make a video explaining all of the different parts of a cell. We were making these directed towards a fourth grade audience and so we planned to show then to the fourth grade. Pretty simple. Or so it seemed. The fourth grade only had so much time to watch videos about cells. So our science teacher had to show all of our class’s videos to the rest of the class. We had a sheet to vote on the best five videos. We watched each video, then gave it a score out of ten. Me, being the only experienced user of video, got first place, with an average score of 10. Not very suprising, because, almost everyone else’s totally sucked. I’d say mine sucked pretty hard too in comparison to some videos on YouTube. But if you compared then to the other videos that the rest of the class made, mine as pretty awesome. Apparently the teacherthought so too, because he showed it to the other class, and gave me an award for it.

My video was 11 minutes long, so I couldn’t post it on YouTube. I will upload it to WordPress and see how that goes. I am also in the process of trying to get the grading sheet back from my science teacher.

The ratings gave the videos were so bad at first, that I had to curve them like 3 points. If a professional critic gave these ratings, they would have given these videos ratings in the negatives.

In the end, I learned that most amateurs can’t make a decent video.

4. adj. In the middle.

bp450 R. Borgia At Point Device II. v. 158 Several things occur without notice, even now. A solder tree with a flame upon it looking about with eyes concerning nothing. Beneath a stupid beast capering for its hooves to be divined. But suddenly now there are two of them, divided instead, one on its hindquarters, the tail shadowing beyond. Creeps of flame dripping over them in calculation, Hoping to fulfill a task known by many names, they say. We are in the open from all around, everything disposed. These shriven forms, the hard horses and the firepitted arbour establishing light and drummed sound, and a bit of an awkward smell. Aspetti, aspetti: tasks of quotidian flave, the rank of each rank of Living War, so ordinary by now (the potes of stirring young blood). Order is not instated, however, and to nobody’s dissolve, especially not to those neighing centaurs under the moldering comb, each leaf now a star pinned by careful instrument. I am not sure, however, where I am speaking from, though I glimpse eternally sure: the black flame and white men there in the center. The other I know is now disappeared. I am positive of the expanse of infinite, containing within but a creature of doubt, the being between I and the pen’s edge. The Incendiary and Mane approaching now to remind the return, always closer; only in appearance they indubitably stand still. Every other object baring no mention. I must help them, but I cannot help it from their place. I have been forever away, the moment defined about by a forlorn and aching yellow. I am for ever and ay way; to be enterprise, one ran. I deliberate. My life being this clear now: the sun in the horizon, traversing, and figures of tolerate scope, galloping out, running.

Heavy Topic, but none the less it has been set as a task for me to fight through for the long hour and forty five minutes that is ‘prep’. School, blah. You spend the first eighteen years of your life facing ignorance, intimidation and unfairness. But do we complain? Well… yes. Thats what I’m doing right now… But why do we need school? The obvious reason is to receive a ‘decent education’ which means that you spend valuable years of your youth learning about history’s mistakes and how to deal with modern society. But we never actually put half of the education gained into practical use. Whether you end up as a class A fuck up or an adequate businessman who’s net worth is less than your second mortgage on your first house, you still are somehow ’stuck’ in the continuos dull life span that is capitalism. All contributing to what? The greater good? or for future generations? Its your opinion I suppose.

Now after these useless years of oppression we are presented with grades, as if we are labelled into society about whether we earn or burn and all I can say about this is that you should take these grades and feedback and consider them, right before you throw them into a box and shove it into a cupboard and never glance at the blasted things again. What people forget is that we are born into a ‘free’ world and by that right we should have a choice about how to live your life and not be corrected by laws and their enforcers. For those who have read the book ‘1984′ then I have one thing to say to you, THE PARTY HAS TAKEN OVER. (If you haven’t read it then please do). Everyone has seemed to have forgotten about individuality and its factors and now everyone has conformed to ‘attributing’ to society. Well I say, go out. quit your job. look at the world. see if you agree with it. and if not. say so.

Before I go, one more thing that everyone must realize. Death is a consequence of being alive, and time must progress, so stop worrying. In the end its all about the memories and those shall echo in eternity.

Now, back to prep.

Groźna łatka Windowsa XP Cyberprzestępcy pod pretekstem aktualizacji systemu Windows XP wprowadzili

Groźna łatka Windowsa XP

Cyberprzestępcy pod pretekstem aktualizacji systemu Windows XP wprowadzili do wielu komputerów niebezpiecznego robaka znanego wcześniej jako Trojan.Generic.171369.

Tomasz Zamarlik G Data Software „Cyberprzestępcy obiecując w temacie wiadomości aktualizacje dla Windows XP SP3 „Critical Update for Windows XP SP3” zachęcają ofiarę do otwarcia załączonego folderu.

Generic.171369. Ponad to szkodnik ten ingeruje w funkcje autostartu.

Eksperci użytkownikom zalecają usunąć załącznik z powyższych e-maili i aktualizację przeprowadzać bezpośrednio z systemu Windows poprzez narzędzia dostępne w panelu „Centrum zabezpieczeń”.

“It’s surprising how many persons go through life without ever recognizing that their feelings toward other people are largely determined by their feelings toward themselves, and if you’re not comfortable within yourself, you can’t be comfortable with others.” Sydney J. Harris

I have been thinking about empathy alot lately. Mainly how I lack it. The quote above struck a cord with me because it is true and is forcing me to take a good hard look at myself and see that the empathy I lack, the chip on my shoulder I carry and the anger that I allow myself to drown in is all a reflection of how I really feel about myself. This is an incredibly sad thing to realize.

I tend to be very loud, rash, blunt and to the point. I don’t spare people’s feelings as often as I should and I tend to let people get under my skin and live there for all eternity. Nightrider on the other hand is diplomatic about honesty, cares about people’s feelings, always does everything she can to be understanding of situations and to always be a safe place and a good friend for anyone in need. This is where our relationship gets tricky.Nightrider and I don’t find much to disagree over or argue about but our difference in how we handle situations and the amount of empathy we have for other people is a large problem for us. I think alot of this stems from how we were brought up, and our life experiences. Nightrider had a very difficult childhood, she was brought up with a drifter for a mother, and was frequently subjected to harmful situations involving drugs, men, homelessness and the worst things one could possibly imagine. Nightrider knows what it’s like to not know where you are going to sleep, to have no one to turn to and to not feel welcome in the place you are forced to inhabit. This makes Nightrider who she is and that person is someone who would never let anyone she cares about in even the smallest form fall into similar situations. Nightrider is also a hippie at heart and the combination of her extreme sense of peace and love and empathy is the reason why in the last 2 years we have been together we have never lived alone together (by alone I mean just us and our kids). We have had roomates forever. Sometimes they are the kind that hold down jobs, and pay rent, other times they are people who are in hard times and need to do absolutely nothing but play couch commando for months at a time on our dime. (See I’m sure with that last statement you can feel the tension, and lack of empathy in my words).

So you see the problem, no? I don’t understand why people can’t just figure their shit out. I compare other people to myself alot and can justify my lack of empathy with the thought that if I have to be a grown up and deal with the things life throws at us why don’t they? If I were to lose my job today I would be looking for a job tomorrow, if I couldnt find one within a week of unemployment I would park my happy ass in a Mc*Donalds kitchen and find a way to make ends meet on minimum wage. If I get my heartbroken and know I need to move out of my girlfriends place I don’t expect anyone else to figure that out for me. I deal with the uncomfortable situation until I can get into a new place, because its not anyone else’s problem but my own. It’s just the way I think. Now even though I think this way I do love Nightrider so I open up our home and let people stay, I stretch the dollar for another person and I suck it up, but unfortunately I don’t let my irritation go unnoticed and this is the problem. I become very cold when I feel someone is taking advantage of us and I can’t empathize for them. Everything that person does begins to bother me, I have no love for them anymore, and can see nothing good in them while this is going on and this is so fucked up.

I was brought up moderately privledged. I always had everything I needed and most of the things I wanted. My parents sacrificed for me and never let it show. Apparently we were close to Bankruptcy once when I was little and I didn’t even know about it until a couple years ago. My mother lacks empathy the same way I do. When its something someone really can’t help, like illness or injury we understand but when its problems someone has inflicted on themselves we don’t have a lot of room for pity. I’m guessing my mom has the same stem of this problem that I do, being to way she feels towards herself. I know this is my problem, i put alot of pressure on myself, can be a perfectionist and demand that I keep everything together all the time. This is why I am so hard on other people. This goes along with how critical I am of myself in every way shape and form. The perfect example is how I am about the way I look. I can see myself in the mirror and pick apart every imperfection I have, in turn this allows me to pick apart everyone else flaws as well. It makes me judgemental and critical and that is all just on the surface. I have anger managment problems and they come out primarily when I am so clouded with criticism that I can’t feel any compassion for the people in my life. This is not ok and is not the kind of person I want to be or the life I want to live.

I think part of fixing this problem is admiting it which is the point of this post. I am not as kind and loving of a person that I would like to be. I wan’t to be able to see the best in people, to be iving and understanding. I know I want to be a better person, and now that I have found the root of the problem I am going to do everything in my power to be the kind of person that not only will be loved by other people but that can be loved by herself. Its time for me to put a little love in my heart to not be so hard on myself or other people, to love people for who they are and to learn to let go of everything that I carry that weighs on my heart.
