Aos poucos o line up do festival Planeta Terra, que acontece dia 7 de novembro, no Playcenter, começa a se formar. Na última semana foram anunciadas algumas das atrações.

Entre os gringos Primal Scream (Escócia) e Ting Tings (Inglaterra), do hit que tocou até em novela “That´s Not My Name“. Entre a galera local estão os brasilienses do Móveis Coloniais de Acaju, os matogrossense do Macaco Bong, os curitibocas do Copacabana Club e N.A.S.A (North America, South America), projeto do brasileiro Zé Gonzales (ex-Planet Hemp) com o americano Squeak E. Clean (irmão do Spike Jonze). Agora só faltam mais 8 bandas gringas e seis nacionais. Minhas sugestões são Crystal Castles, Glasvegas, Boss in Drama, Passion Pit, Natalie´s Portman Shaved Head, Holger e a nova banda Them Crooked Vultures.

Music is always good. But a music festival requires a little bit extra to fully enjoy it.

An outdoor concert for 8 hours is physically challenging. Especially if you like to

dance, jump, skank, and mosh. So here are my tips to fully enjoy a music

festival at the worst conditions.

1. Know your limit

Most festivals go on at least for 3 days in a row. Going to all three of them requires a

great amount of stamina and determination. Before you buy the tickets, you should

ask yourself this question, can I go to all 3 days? If the answer is yes, you are a beast.

But for the most of us, a concert a week is all we can handle. Think about your concert

going past, and determine if you have what it takes to fully rock out.

2. Be prepared

The weather is always a bitch. I hope your festival experiences were sunny. But most

festivals are in the summer. In the summer, it rains a lot. Wear an outfit not to impress,

but to rock out. I was really surprised at All Points West. A lot of high heels were

walking around. Put on some tennis shoes, get a poncho, be comfortable with what

you are wearing.

3. Research

You probably heard about 5 to 8 bands within the lineup. But when there is 40 bands

playing, is 5 to 8 bands enough to fully enjoy the festival? Its hard to become a

die-hard fan within a week. But listening to the music of bands performing in the

festival will increase your festival experience. You need to learn what type of music

other bands play, listen to their most successful songs, and then engage at the festival.

A festival is a great opportunity to expand your musical knowledge and

taste.

4. Schedule ahead

There were 3 stages at All Points West, and there was a fix schedule for every show.

You need to schedule which shows you are going before you arrive at the festival. In a

perfect world, your bands will be playing one after another. However, this is not true

in reality. Your bands might have an overlapping schedule. You also might wanna be

at the front for a superstar. If this is so, you need to understand that you aren’t the

only one trying to be at the front. You might need to forget about a band you like, just

to get in front of the crowd. The best time to get ahead of the crowd is when they are

setting up. Make a solid schedule and stick to it.

5. Game plan

Every band has a unique color. And there are ways to maximize your experience. For

example, Gogol Bordello is a gypsy-punk band. The way you fully enjoy this is by

moshing and skanking. MSTRKRFT is a electronic and dancing might be the way to go.

On the other side of rock out, there is Neko Case. Very sentimental soft rock is not a

typical song to go Ape-Shit. You might wanna have a beach towel to sit on and simply

enjoy the music peacefully. Imagine yourself how you are going to have fun

when a band is playing.

6. Be determined

You can do all the 5 things I told you, but you still could get lazy and not stick to the

plan. There is no short cut for this. Grow some balls and just do it!

A banda Crystal Castles é formada por dois elementos Ethan e Alice. Originária de Toronto no Canadá, os Crystal Castles fizeram vários remixes, entre eles “Atlantis to Interzone” dos Klaxons, “Hunting for Witches” dos Bloc Party e “Crimewave” do HEALTH. Têm também várias músicas originais como “Alice Practice”, “Love and Caring” e “Air War”.
Ótima banda pra quem sente falta do nosso velho amigo ATARI. Eu confesso que particularmente cansei.
Espero que façam um próximo disco com um outro estilo, de preferência mais trabalhado, porém duvido.

Banda de um disco só, mas vale a pena ouvir pra conhecer.

Gêneros: Chiptune, Bitpop e Eletrônica, o que gera um som um tanto ruidoso e único, que mistura sons de games antigos e do vocal característico de Alice.

Otimo pra quem sente falta do nosso velho amigo ATARI.Eu cansei,mas vale a pena ouvir pra conhecer.Espero que façam um proximo disco com outro estilo mais trabalhado.Porem,eu duvido.Banda de um disco só.

Flickr has helped me recollect what I’ve been up to during the year and last.fm has helped me recollect what I’ve been listening to, so here (in no particular order) is what I enjoyed the most.

Late Of The Pier “Fantasy Black” : A puzzling but wildly entertaining album from group of frighteningly young and frighteningly talented gents from Nottingham. It came to me a little later than most, however I got there in the end. As well as being one of my records of the year it also features my track of the year, the pleasantly entitled Focker, (the instrumental, which I think appeared on a b side somewhere, should be played every morning as an alarm call to the nation).

Neon Neon “Stainless Style” : A combination of the Super Furry’s Gruff Rhys and Los Angeles producer Boom Bip collaborating on an album paying tribute to the life of John DeLorean was always going to be a great record – and it is.

Utah Saints “Something Good ‘08” : Who’d of thought it eh ? Utah Saints.

Max Tundra “Parallax Error Beheads You” : Max was entirely new to me until I went to see Hot Chip earlier in the year in Cambridge. His support set divided the audience almost immediately it began – however I loved him / it and I love this album, (which features one of my favourite tracks of the year Orphaned). It contains masses of ideas (more in most tracks than most manage in an entire album, some careers) which sometimes work, sometimes don’t and nearly always baffle – although as Jimmy McGovern is quoted as stating earlier this year “I would rather be confused for ten minutes than bored for five seconds.” – Max often confuses, he never bores.

Hot Chip “Made In The Dark” : Got less than ecstatic reviews when it came out (which I tend to think is a good sign) however I loved it almost immediately. Less immediate than The Warning, other than the two early singles Shake A Fist and Ready For The Floor, it’s a wonderfully crafted record with clear indications that those involved will continue to make great records for a good while to come.

Alexis Taylor “Rubbed Out” : And they can make great records on their own too.

The Streets “Everything Is Borrowed” : Again another album with less than ecstatic reviews however another that got played and played in the world of Daniel Weir once I got hold of it.

Crystal Castles “Crystal Castles” : At times I’ve almost been put off them due to their deification by a certain music paper (how old am I eh ? music paper if you will), after all anyone who makes it to the top of the NME’s Cool List must be by the very assertion super un-cool – whatever it’s a great album regardless.

Fonda 500 “Je M’appelle Stereo” : Fonda 500 are one of those bands who you listen to and wonder why they’re not huge. I think that if most sane right minded individuals listened to, if nothing else, the the opening track, Music Should Always Be Played By The Hands Of The Animals, they would be sold on the idea wholly and immeadiately.

Flight Of The Conchords “Flight Of The Conchords” : Music and comedy rarely go together at all well – the main exception being the mighty Half Man Half Biscuit, however you can now add Flight Of The Conchords to that exception. The second HBO series starts next month so now seems the perfect time to join Murrays’s Street Team and spread the word.

Just a quick one today. The porridge of bleeps, blips and distorted vocals (caused by all manner of button bashing and knob twiddling) found on the self titled album from the Crystal Castles may not be to everyone’s taste, but it’s an interesting listen and worth a purchase. The infective song Crimewave is probably their stand out track. If you like it, then you’ll most likely enjoy the album.
