I have to admit that this has got “tons” of grammatical errors. 

I was in a haste preparing it coz I have to catch the first church mass early tomorrow. I have to finish it in less than 1 hour. For all those “walking dictionary” viewers out there..just calm down. So Dayana won. As I have said in my prediction blog: Once Miss Venezuela, always Miss Venezuela. It was a well-deserved win. Dayana nailed the final question when she was asked whether which have it easier, men or women:  “Actually, God made men and women different. But the big difference between women and men–it doesn’t matter what kind of life they live–is that men think that the faster way to go to a point is to go straight. Women, no. The faster way to go to a point is to go through curves and fixing every curve,”Miss Venezuela answered international judge Louis Lacari. 

The best one so far. I have to give her an “A” for that.

Taliana, my old time bet since the pageant started, had a great answer as well. The bell was a curse when it reached its  ”ding dong”. The judges got disturbed and pulled her scores down during the final interview. “Startstruck by Jennifer Hawkins? maybe not!”

In comparison to Dayana’s answer….ahhhhh!!!!! hmmmmmm..that’s a no brainer.

Dayana’s answer was straight to the point. She was not so fluent in English, but she made a very remarkable response.

Tali’s was a mediocre. Dayana edged her and finished a well deserved end held in Crown Convention Center in Nha Trang, Vietnam last Monday.

The second, third and fourth runners-up were Miss Dominican Republic, Miss Russia and Miss Mexico, respectively.

Let’s do it one by one and I’ll share you my inside thoughts about this year’s pageant.

The stage was gigantic and class. It was massive. Colorful. They had an energetic set of dance performers also.

The opening number was hideous. The Opening number song was very common..”EVERYBODY’S GONNA LOVE TODAY”..Give me a break . That was lousy and I cannot even call it a production number. Nothing great about it so far. The individual national costumes were eye catching. It was very long and I started to get bored staring at it.

Melanie B. was oozing hot. Well, I always liked her ever since she started in Spice Girls while Jerry Springer was too old to host a pageant. Come on..this is not Ms. Grandma Universe! He is corny and tried to be funny but it didn’t work out so far. He made a grand entrance riding something like a “scooter”…that was…………ooow…never mind. I prefer to keep my mood in its normal status, but it really sucks!

So, the top fifteen were announced in random order. Let’s see.

Did I hear it right? Hungary? I hope the judges weren’t “hungry” when they selected her to be in the spot. I hope they had a better explanation. The rest deserves to be in their individual spots. Even if I heard so much that many were surprised about Italy and Russia’s inclusion in the list…I favored the preliminary judges in selecting them, they have the guts and they can both pull the trigger.

So where is Simran and Ingrid. This is not a mock up dress rehearsal show right? Then I was convinced that they weren’t really in the final 15. What went wrong? Whatever it is, I guess it would be reasonable. Blame it to the prelim judges. Esha must be so pissed about Miss India’s exclusion on the finalist. Hihihihi….. A great strategy can accompany a great jinx.

Ingrid???? Somebody must have pepper sprayed her gown once again. This time, it was successful. It worked out and she failed to secure a spot in the final 15. Just an opinion.

So I was going through my list. I was shocked. How could I forget Miss Dominican Republic in my list? How can I afford to overlook such beauty? My God…she is a bomb. Almost……perfect. She even looks better than Amelia Vega in some angles.

The swimsuit competition started. So who was that singer? She was scary. I thought it was CHER. It was a “0” performance for me. My niece can even dance better than her. And what’s with the blonde hair? Sorry if I am so mean, but does she want to replace Miss Albania?

The one who has got  the best Swimsuits for me were Tali of course, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico and Dominican Republic. Miss Spain looked like a villain in a “telenovela”. I didn’t like her because of that. She tried to look sultry…ended up looking cocky.

Miss Thailand won the Best in National Costume Award. So what happened to Miss Philippines?

Miss El Salvador bagged the Miss Congeniality award. It’s better than having nothing at all. Ooopsss..Sorry.

The evening gown competition started. Ok. So, everybody was calm and feeling elegant that moment. I was not informed that Crystle’s ambition was to drop her feet down and fall on her ass. Drop off the rumors about her intentionally doing it…come one..that is absurd! who would waste her time preparing for a once in a lifetime event and just screws it with a bouncing plot like this. Hell no. In fairness to her, she almost dropped her jaw when she just realized (What the f*ck was that?) She tried to hide it, but that 15 minute fame is a “make or break” situation…in that case..she failed to recover from that fall.

That fall has totally changed her future. She could have easily crowned herself and would have the rarest chance of answering any of the final questions. Poor girl. I love her from the start. She reminds me of Wendy Fitzwilliam. It was not her fault though. Blame it to the beads down her gown. The panel of judges gave her a dropping 8.050 mark in the evening gown competition which lead to his exclusion to the Final Five. Russia could have been ousted and she’ll definitely get the spot.

Final questions were rolled out.

Miss Colombia was star struck by Jennifer Hawkins. She stammered. She delivered it well but she got caught by the bell when it rang while she was still conversing.

Venezuela’s answer was perfect. She nailed it. That is why she deserves to receieve the 18K white and yellow gold crown, which was valued at $120,000.

Dominican Republic’s answer was so “Miss Universe”. It was not from the heart. Somewhat like her.  She answered it from the nose.

Miss Mexico tried to answer in English but failed to impress the judges..including me.

Miss Russia: I was surprised. She gave a very good answer. It made me convinced that she should be in the top five.

MORAL LESSON: Don’t say Cin Xiao if you are planning to give a very long answer. CIN XIAO girls. If only there is a “part 2″.

SCOOP: Roberto Cavalli? What’s with the flirty question? But I loved it. The way he uttered the word “satisfyyyyyyy”. OMG. So gay! (*winks*) but it was cool.

Dayana won of course. No doubt. Nobody even questioned it.

Prior to that Riyo Mori had her final walk on her own version of  the “tux”. I was reading some blog, questioning what she wore. Come on…she looks fabulous. Admit it! Sometimes, we need to see and accept the reality that there are people who look good in what they wear. She looked so class…not a trying hard mannequin as every other reigning queen looks like. So all sourgrapers out there…..chill out!

Miss USA contestant Crystle Stewart fell during the famed evening gown walk of this year’s MIss Universe Pageant, making it the second consecutive year miss USA has fallen. Although she was able to quickly get up, laugh, and clap at herself, her smile didn’t seem genuine. Boy did those nostrils come flaring out–and you could tell she was about to go walk off the stage and cry. I would probably do the same thing, so I’m not one to point fingers, but i do feel bad for her. She was definitely one of the prettiest ones there and seemed like a nice enough lady. Now if I was Sharon Stone, I would say “America is doing mean things to rest of the world, so I find myself thinking…Could this be karma? ” (What a stupid, stupid thing to say Sharon.)

The sad irony of it all is the song was playing, in which Alan Thicke sings “you got that magic girl” (or something like that) moments after she fell. My advice for next year, Miss USA:

Don’t wear dresses with ridiculously long trains or dresses with “beads” on them!

The NBC show took place in Vietnam with the obvious Donald Trump plugs and Miss Venezuela, Dayana Mendoza, won the official title, sparkling in a pretty yellow gown. Now whether or not her boobs are real, you be the judge. Miss Mexico definitely had fake tig ol’ bitties.

It’s amazing that all these girls are only 19 and 20 years old, and are made to look 30. You take young, beautiful girls, spray fake tan on them, put pounds of make up on their faces (and bodies–no one’s stomach can look like that without some airbrushing or “six-pack shading”), half a bottle of hairspray, maybe some colored contacts, silicone breasts if they naturally don’t exceed a C-cup, and voila! You’ve got a fool-proof formula. Oh yeah, and you must be at least like 5′7 to be in this competition, which I think sucks. Sorry, but we (Asians) just don’t normally come that big. Some more irony: It would be very hard to find a 5′7 woman in the very country they were hosting the competition (Vietnam). I’m done ranting. One a side note: But Seriously, what was up with Miss Dominican Republic’s dress? It was a nude colored gown covered with diamond shaped mirrors. Yes, mirrors. I didn’t really care for it. It looked like the infamous Britney Spears nude/sparkly number on crack. You know, the one from the VMA a few years back.

I really liked that former Miss Universe Riyo Mori (of Japan) decided to wear a conductor-like tuxedo for her last walk as reigning miss universe. I thought it was a pretty progressive statement (despite the fact that her knockers were half out). She still looked amazing, as usual.

Miss Venezuela, who won the contest, will now become Stewart’s

roommate in New York, where Miss Universe, Miss USA and Miss Teen USA share an apartment provided by the company that owns all three pageants.

Stewart and the other contestants attended a coronation party for the new Miss Universe, Dayana Mendoza, on Monday night in Nha Trang, where the pageant was held.

Stewart is a motivational speaker and has developed a character education program which she teaches in a New York City school. She plans to turn her mishap into a lesson.

“I’ll be talking to my students about it when I get back,” she said. “Sometimes you fall in life, not just in the pageant but financially or emotionally. It’s not about the fall but how you pick yourself up.”

After she fell down, Stewart stood up, gave herself a round of applause, and kept on walking.

During the 2007 Miss Universe contest in Mexico City, Miss USA Rachel Smith also tumbled during the evening gown competition and became an unintended star on YouTube, where the video was shown over and over again.

Who is Dayana Mendoza?

Nama lengkapnya adalah Dayana Sabrina Mendoza Moncada, ia lahir di Ciracas Caracas – Venezuela, pada tanggal 1 Juni 1986. ia adalah seorang model, Miss Venezuela 2007, dan Miss Universe 2008. Sejarah mencatat bahwa kontestan dari Venezuela bisa dikatakan sebagai langganan juara di ajang Miss Universe, yakni sebanyak 4 (tiga) kali yaitu pada tahun 1979 (Maritza Sayalero Fernandez), tahun 1981 (Iren Saez Conde), tahun 1986 (Barbara Palacios Teyde), dan dan untuk keempat kalinya pada tahun ini (Dayana Mendoza).

Mendoza yang kini berusia 22 tahun mengaku memiliki obsesi menjadi desainer interior, di samping minatnya yang besar pada dunia fotografi dan periklanan. Mendoza berhasil menyingkirkan 80 wanita cantik yang menjadi saingannya. Selain semok cantik, ternyata Mendoza berotak encer, ia menguasai tiga bahasa asing, antara lain : Inggris, Spanyol, dan Italia. Dan setelah googling kesana kemari, disini saia pun akhirnya mengetahui bahwa Dayana Mendoza memang seorang MODEL sodara2!! Yup, pada tahun 2001, Mendoza menandatangani kontrak dengan Elite Model Management dan menjadi model di banyak pergelaran yang diadakan di Itali, Perancis, Inggris, Amerika Serikat, Jerman, Spanyol, Meksiko, dan Peru untuk Versace, Roberto Cavalli dan perancang busana lainnya. Miss Universe 2008 – the Event!

Dewan juri Miss Universe 2008 antara lain adalah : Donald Trump Jr, Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization; perancang busana Roberto Cavalli; Nadine Velazquez, bintang NBC My Name Is Earl dan model internasional, kemudian Jennifer Hawkins, presenter televisi dan Miss Universe 2004. Selain itu, ada pula Louis Licari, ahli tata rias, dan President of the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences Joe Cinque. Kemudian, bintang film Bollywood Eesha Koppikhar, Pimpinan Redaksi Harian Thanh Nien Nguyen Cong Khe, dan perancang sepatu Taryn Rose.

Dayana Mendoza berhasil mengalahkan Miss Colombia Taliana Vargas, Miss Dominican Republic Marianne Cruz, Miss Mexico Elisa Najera, dan Miss Russia Vera Krasova dalam babak 5 besar. Sebelum diumumkannya lima besar Miss Universe ini, penghargaan juga diberikan kepada Miss El Savador Rebeca Moreno sebagai Miss Congeniality, serta Best National Costume untuk Miss Thailand Gavintra Photijak.

Ia diberi mahkota Miss Universe 2008 dalam kontes yang diadakan di Nha Trang, Vietnam (13 July 2008). Miss Universe 2007 Riyo Mori memakaikan mahkota pada Dayana Mendoza dengan mahkota tiara yang bernilai $120.000,-. Hadiah yang ia dapatkan termasuk uang tunai, 1 tahun kontrak mempromosikan Miss universe, perjalanan keliling dunia, sewa gratis sebuah flat bergengsi di New york, apartemen mewah, dan bingkisan yang berisi sepatu karya designer ternama, pakaian & produk kecantkan. Selain itu ia pun akan mendapatkan kursus perfilman gratis di New York Film Academy selama 2 tahun yang setara dengan uang sebesar $100.000,- . Selama menyandang gelar sebagai Miss Universe 2008, Mendoza akan menghabiskan waktunya berkeliling dunia untuk membawa isu social dan edukasi mengenai HIV/AIDS.

Dalam ajang ini, terdapat insiden memalukan dari Miss Amerika Serikat, Crystle Stewart. Ia tersandung saat memeragakan gaun malam. Diduga, insiden ini menjadi salah satu penyebab Stewart tak masuk ke babak selanjutnya. Mungkin gara2 hak STILETTO yang ia kenakan menginjak gaun malam’nya hingga ia jatuh tersungkur dan akhirnya ia gagal di ajang Miss Universe 2008. Tapi salut deh, abis jatuh gitu dia cepet2 bangun terus dadah-dadah ngajak penonton turut bertepuk tangan, kemudian lanjut deh lenggak-lenggok lagi, untung aja STILETTO-nya gag nginjek gaun panjangnya lagi, hihi.. Kejadian serupa terjadi di ajang Miss Universe 2007, saat itu pun yang terjatuh adalah Miss USA juga, Rachel Smith. Mungkin untuk tahun depan, nona-nona amerika itu sebaiknya mengenakan gaun yang lebih pendek agar tidak terjatuh lagi, hihi

Miss Indonesia – apa kabar?

Tentang Miss Indonesia, saya kupipas saja dari DETIK , sbb : Putri Raesmawati mewakili Indonesia dalam kontes kecantikan tingkat dunia Miss Universe 2008 di Vietnam. Dalam ajang itu beberapa busana dipamerkan Putri. Mulai dari buana tradisional Papua hingga baju renang one piece dan two pieces. Sayangnya Putri tidak lolos dalam 15 besar di ajang Miss Universe 2008 ini, mungkin tahun depan kita harus mengirmkan Putri indonesia yang lebih semok cantik lagi kali ya.. hihi

Putri Raemawasti yang memiliki kecantikan khas Indonesia itu terlihat tampil dengan beberapa busana. Mulai dari busana casual, dress terusan pendek berwarna merah, juga halter neck print dress hijau motif bunga yang dikenakannya saat bersantai dengan puteri-puteri dari negara lain. Saat peragaan gaun malam Putri memakai gaun batik dari Allure berwarna magenta keunguan. Gaun itu bemodel tube dress dengan aksesoris bros di bagian dada dan belahan tinggi hingga paha.

Saat beraksi dengan pakaian renang, perempuan 22 tahun itu memakai busana one piece berwarna hijau daun. Di awal Putri memang pernah berkata bahwa ia tak akan memakai busana renang two pieces. Namun belakangan foto perempuan asal surabaya dengan mengenakan bikini berwarna kuning jingga di ajang Miss Universe 2008 tertangkap kamera.

“Ah tak mengapa lah, belum seberapa dibandingkan busana renang mbak Dayana Mendoza dari Venezuela itu..” hihi, begitulah segelintir pendapat teman2 saia di kantor ketika melihat busana renang two pieces yang dikenakan Dayana Mendoza diatas. Iya betul kata teman saya, mungkin memang baju renang Putri tak seberapa, tapi saia yakin sekembalinya Putri dari Vietnam, media akan ramai memberitakan mengenai terjadinya kontroversi disana-sini tentang busana one-piece dan two-pieces yang dikenakan oleh Putri di ajang Miss Universe 2008, so what!! Namun bagaimanapun usaha Putri toh tetap harus kita hargai, ia telah berupaya semaksimal mungkin untuk mengharumkan nama Indonesia di kancah Internasional. Kalopun mislanya kemarin ia berhasil memenangkan kontes Miss Universe 2008 ataupun seenggaknya meraih salah satu penghargaan di ajang ini , ia pasti akan tetap menimbulkan kontroversi di negeri ini, karena ada yang BANGGA, ada pula yang MENCERCA, sama banyak jumlahnya, semajemuk rakyat’nya.. Well, adat ketimuran dan norma agama masih harus kita junjung tinggi temans, dan itu semua kembali lagi kepada hati nurani kita semua sebagai manusia yang beragama dan berbudaya. Setuju gag???

Melanie “Mel B.” Brown will return as a “Dancing With the Stars” guest correspondent for “Access Hollywood” when the ABC reality show premieres tonight.       *The New York Post is reporting that Miss USA, Crystle Stewart – the woman who famously tripped and fell during the Miss Universe competition in Thailand over the summer – nearly hit the deck again at the recent party for NBC’s “Lipstick Jungle” in New York. The beauty showed up to Studio 450 in “incredibly high heels,” a witness told Page Six. Stewart made her way to the outside balcony and proceeded to “lose her balance on the rubber floor and started to fall.” A public relations man came to her rescue and escorted her to solid ground. Later, Stewart declined a shot of 1942 Don Julio tequila, saying, “I’m not allowed to drink, or I will get yelled at.”
