SCARY!!  This is the first time I really feel like I live in a CITY.

Today in the middle of our staff meeting, my boss looked out the window and yelled, “FIRE! everybody grab your stuff and get out of the building!” I thought she was joking. Then everyone started running and we could hear yelling from outside, and there was black smoke billowing out of the store down the hall. We all ran downstairs, and hung out outside for a while while four firetrucks came flying up and ran in with their hoses and their gear.  Then we all just got sent home because they had to air out the building or something. I don’t know.

That wasn’t the scary part.

The scary part is happening now.

So I’m getting ready for bed, and I haven’t been outside all afternoon because the air is so steamy here its like walking in a sponge.  The air is literally just water hanging suspended in the air. Its nasty.  So I had been inside all afternoon, and I got into my bed, which is right next to the sliding glass door, and I hear sirens. I was like, Hmmm I wonder if there was another fire?

But I don’t think they bring in Crime Scene Investigation vans for fires…

Where’s Horatio Cane?

At first there were only a few police cars…at my last count, I counted 39!!! They blocked off the whole street. So I started to get worried there was like a murderer on the loose, or a bomb threat or something.  This is not helping my anxiety.

So I called security in my building and she said she didn’t know what was going on.

Then I called the front desk at the Doubletree, which is the building across the street where all the cops are located, and asked what was up.  She told me, “Oh nothing is going on inside the hotel, its something outside on the street. We are just asking people to stay in their rooms. We are trying to find out what’s going on right now.”  Riiiiight.  They blocked off the street at both ends of the hotel but its nothing going on in the hotel itself? I’m sensing they just don’t want to instigate mass hysteria.

This is so scary! Thank god I’ve got Lara on the phone! I wish I knew what was going on.  My co-worker just texted me, “I’m totally not kidding but there is an alleged serial killer in there. they have it quarentined, its on the news for real….no joke.”  I hope she’s joking…

Well I’m going to try and go to bed…if I can sleep that is! =/

With so many criminal investigation shows on TV these days, what’s your favorite?  One all too popular with many people is CSI.  Two years later, and you’ve got the spin-off series, CSI: Miami.  Two more years later, another spin-off, CSI: NY.

I’ve come across the CSI franchise a few times on TV, and I’ve watched a few episodes here and there.  My overall reaction to the show — Eh.  More specifically, I’ll be speaking of CSI: Miami here.

I just can’t get past the attractive CSI unit all working under one roof with seamlessly pressed attire, occasional cleavage for the women, and the take-me-serious looks, both in visual appearance and forensic intellect.  This effect is so noticeably funny that if that whole aspect of the show was a joke, I’d think it was the funniest show ever.

Horatio Caine’s acting performance in CSI: Miami is from a whole other decade, and I don’t mean that in a good way.  I suppose it works for the show though, since everything else is just so unbelievable and overly fictionalized.  For example, what agency actually has all this future-forward technology that makes finding a criminal look as simple as turning on a light switch.  Also, the interrogation room secretly says, “Hey, why not take in the beautiful panoramic view while you’re in the hot seat via our ground-to-ceiling windows.”

Whatever happened to the separate positions worked by many individuals in a real CSI team: latent print examiner, forensic photographer, serologist, varying chemists, homicide detectives, etc.  I understand it’s a TV show and that TV can’t always project a realistic fiction series, but there are plenty of shows in the same genre that stick to the realistic structure of how a crime investigation works through the hands of many people.  I’ll admit that the whole appeal that repels me from watching the show is the very thing that gains a lot of the viewers.

The deal breaker though — the anti-climatic feeling of their solved cases, which is almost as bad as the ending conclusions in Law & Order: Criminal Intent (but that’s another story).   I much prefer Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, and Criminal Minds.  This blog post was just meant to give my opinion of the show, and I’m not trying to bash anyone for liking it.  Actually, my mom loves the Miami spin-off, and she refuses to watch the other CSIs.  Go figure.

Bottom line: CSI: Miami is just too Hollywood for me.

Successo in prime time per l’ultima puntata di CHI HA INCASTRATO PETER PAN? su Canale 5. Lo show condotto da Paolo Bonolis e Luca Laurenti ha registrato 7 milioni 313mila telespettatori (28.89% di share), con un picco di 9 milioni 711mila.  E a Bonolis e alla sua trasmissione arrivano i complimenti del direttore di Canale 5 Massimo Donelli:

Credo sia sotto gli occhi di tutti: “Chi ha incastrato Peter Pan?” è senza alcun dubbio, la produzione di maggior successo dell’autunno televisivo. Lo è non solo per gli straordinari risultati (media d’ascolto delle otto puntate: 7.055.234 telespettatori totali con una share del 27.8%) ottenuti perfino a scapito delle partite della Nazionale di calcio. Ma lo è anche – se non soprattutto – per la capacità che Paolo Bonolis ha avuto di dare vita a una trasmissione allegra, familiare, calda, coinvolgente cui, non a caso, hanno preso parte, con vero entusiasmo, tanti personaggi dello star system. Non basta. Il successo di “Chi ha incastrato Peter Pan?” conferma la grande sintonia tra Bonolis e la platea televisiva: da Ciao Darwin al Festival di Sanremo a Peter Pan, cambiano palcoscenici, contenuti e protagonisti dei suoi show, ma ciò che non cambia mai è il risultato, sempre a livelli da fuoriclasse. E’ motivo, quindi, di fiducia e di orgoglio annunciare che Paolo, dopo una meritata vacanza, tornerà presto sulla scena televisiva per proporre al pubblico di Canale 5 la nuova serie di “Ciao Darwin”. Così come è bello poter dire arrivederci ai tanti bambini che hanno seguito “Chi ha incastrato Peter Pan?”: stiamo gia pensando alla prossima edizione.

Su Raiuno l’incontro di CHAMPIONS LEAGUE tra il Milan e l’Olympique Marsiglia ha ottenuto 5 milioni 75mila telespettatori (17.78%). Su Italia 1 il telefilm CSI:MIAMI ha totalizzato 2 milioni 936mila telespettatori e, subito dopo, il telefilm THE MENTALIST è stato visto da 2 milioni 286mila telespettatori. Su Raidue la semifinale di X FACTOR è stata seguita da 2 milioni 576mila telespettatori (12.75%). Su Raitre il primo episodio della fiction LA NUOVA SQUADRA ha raggiunto 1 milione 679mila telespettatori (5.71%) e il secondo 1 milione 645mila (6.32%).

Su Retequattro la prima puntata della nuova serie di VITE STRAORDINARIE condotto da Elena Guarnieri ha ottenuto 2 milioni 373mila telespettatori (8.73%). Su La7 EXIT, con Ilaria D’Amico, ha registrato 771mila telespettatori (3.34%).

In access prime time STRISCIA LA NOTIZIA ha totalizzato 7 milioni 485mila telespettatori.

Su Raiuno la partita Milan-Olympique Marsiglia valida per la Champions League  è stata seguita da 5.075.000 elespettatori (17,78%). Su Canale 5 l’ultima puntata di Chi ha incastrato Peter Pan? ha interessato  7.313.000 telespettatori (28,89%).

Su Raidue la semifinale di X Factor (che ha visto presentare gli inediti dei 4 concorrenti rimasti ancora in gara) è stata seguita da 2.576.000 affezionati (12,75%). Su Italia 1 CSI Miami ha totalizzato 2.936.000 (9,98%), mentre The Mentalist è stato scelto da 2.286.000 telespettatori (8,96%).

IERI SERA… Chiude con oltre 7,3 milioni di spettatori il varietà di successo di Canale 5 “Chi ha incastrato Peter Pan?” con Paolo Bonolis e Luca Laurenti, uno dei principali successi dell’autunno televisivo. In poco più di 5 milioni invece hanno seguito su RaiUno l’incontro di calcio Milan – Olympique Marsiglia, terminato con un pareggio per 1-1 (con gol di Borriello e Lucho Gonzalez) che rende fondamentale la gara dell’8 dicembre contro lo Zurigo; tanti spettatori anche per i canali sportivi pay, che oltre all’incontro del Milan proponevano anche Bordeaux – Juventus, che è terminato con una sconfitta dei bianconeri per 2-0 e che renderà importante anche la gara Juventus – Bayern Monaco dell’8 dicembre. Als er iemand dol is op televisie series ben ik het wel. Ik heb elke avond wel een aantal series die ik gewoon moet zien. Is het een verslaving? Misschien wel een beetje, maar het is gelukkig nog niet zo erg dat ik helemaal ga flippen als ik een aflevering mis want we hebben thuis de meest geniale uitvinding ever: het upc recorder kastje. Ik kan alle progamma’s instellen die ik wil zien en die dan later bekijken. En mocht ik dit vergeten, dan is er altijd nog sidereel.com. Heel handig!

Wat zijn nu mijn favoriete tv series en waarom?

Ghost Whisperer

Ghost Whisperer is mijn alltime favoriet. De mensen die me volgen via Twitter kunnen regelmatig lezen dat ik weer eens Ghost Whisperer aan het kijken ben. Ik volg deze serie al vanaf seizoen 1 en ik kan er maar geen genoeg van krijgen. Het is ook al meedere keren voorgekomen dat het me niet lukt om even een traantje weg te pinken.

Criminal Minds

Ik hou van crime series en Criminal Minds staat bovenaan als mijn favoriet. Elke woensdag zit ik trouw om 20:30 voor de buis voor een vol uur criminal profiling. Ook vind ik Dr Spencer Reid best wel een schatje. Sst niet verder vertellen hoor!

Gossip Girl

Ik heb alle boeken al in mijn bezit en toen ik op internet las dat er een tv serie zou verschijnen werd ik even he-le-maal gek van enthousiasme. Mijn favoriete characters zijn Blair en Chuck. Ik kijk deze serie trouwens niet via de tv, ik kijk alle nieuwe afleveringen via Sidereel of ik pak op een layzie sunday mijn dvd boxen erbij!

Castle

Deze serie is nog niet zo lang te zien op de televisie maar ik moet toegeven dat ik geen aflevering kan en wil missen. Ik vind vooral de hoofdrolspeler Nathan Fillion ontzettend goed acteren en echt geweldig om naar te kijken. Castle is echt een must om te zien. Dit is btw ook weer een crime serie.

The Mentalist

Momenteel word The Mentalist hier in Nederland even niet uitgezonden op tv -ik volg ook deze serie weer via internet- maar is ook een must om te zien. The Mentalist is van dezelfde hand als Castle en is ook een steengoede serie. En het is ook helemaal niet erg om naar Simon Baker te kijken – al vond ik hem in The Devil Wears Prada helemaal niet zo leuk- want die ziet er niet alleen heerlijk uit maar acteert ook super! =)

Dit zijn momenteel even mijn favoriete series. Ik kijk trouwens ook nog weleens naar Numbers – alleen als het onderwerp me aanstaat-, naar Bones -ook al kan ik Emily Dechanel absoluut niet uitstaan- en naar Csi en Csi Miami.

• The Dome arriva in televisione
  La Dreamworks di Steven Spielberg realizzerà un film televisivo/miniserie basato sull’ultimo romanzo del celebre scrittore Stephen King, The Dome (Under the Dome in originale). La storia è ambientata, come al solito, in una piccola cittadina del Maine dove all’improvviso cala una barriera invisibile che blocca tutto e tutti quelli che sono all’interno, anche l’aria. Inizia una quindi, per i protagonisti, una lotta contro il tempo per salvarsi.
• FlashForward si ferma
  La ABC ha fermato per una settimana la produzione di FlashForward, la nuova serie sci-fi iniziata da quasi due mesi. La cosa avviene un mese dopo l’abbandono di Marc Guggenheim, showrunner della serie, e dopo l’ennesimo calo di ascolti che la sta affliggendo. Il motivo quindi sarebbe quello di consentire agli scrittori di rimettere mano alle sceneggiature. Intanto il 3 dicembre assisteremo in USA all’ultimo episodio per questo 2009.
• Psych avrà una quinta stagione
  La notizia non giunge inaspettata, comunque ora è ufficiale. USA Network ha annunciato che la serie comico-poliziesca Psych avrà una quinta stagione di sedici episodi. La serie racconta le divertenti avventure di Shawn (James Roday), un finto sensitivo con un grande senso dell’osservazione e Gus (Dule Hill), il suo migliore amico che collaborano con la polizia di Santa Barbara. La serie è partita nel 2006 segnando il record di ascolti all’epoca per il canale e ha continuato ad avere sempre ottimi risultati. Psych intanto tornerà il 29 gennaio con la seconda parte della quarta stagione mentre la quinta debutterà la prossima estate.
• Ultimo episodio di V per questo 2009
  Stasera va in onda il quarto ed ultimo episodio per il 2009 di V. La serie di fantascienza tornerà poi a marzo con i restanti nove episodi e andrà in onda dopo Lost. Intanto sono stati calcolati i dati delle registrazioni della prima puntata che accresce il già buon risultato di ulteriori 2,4 milioni, portando il dato finale a 16,7 milioni (6,2); ottimo debutto quindi per la serie, specie nei ratings, anche se negli episodi successivi gli ascolti sono scesi. Monday.  It’s a short week this week and thank goodness it really is a short week this week.  I got up this morning and got myself ready for my day today.  Heather had herself ready to go for the day along with the kids which I really appreciated because it made my  Monday morning that much easier.  I got up and got myself together for my day and ate breakfast with everyone.  Then Heather took off for work and I took a shower and joined the kids and we watched “The Early Show” on CBS.  We found out that they are recalling all the drop-side cribs in the country and I have to say that I think that recall is RIDICULOUS!  I’m not trying to downplay the deaths of people that are involved or say that any child’s death is not important, because they are.  But, to recall all drop side cribs is a little over the top.  How about telling all these parents to take two wood screws and screw the sides of their cribs in.  There – problem solved!  Kid can’t fall between the slats when it doesn’t move!  Anyway, we had a discussion about it and before I knew it, it was time for me to be off to work while the kids were off to school.

I got to work and prepared myself for a half day.  That really wasn’t such a bad thing.  I had some time this morning to finally get caught up on some paper work and really start to work ahead for the quarter.  I even had some time today to actually practice string bass for the winter concert.  This afternoon I was able to work on some things in my classroom and then get things ready for the winter concert including moving around some lights on the balcony in the auditorium to make sure that the chorus (that is now in the pit orchestra area) is properly lit up for the concert.  I got a lot accomplished in a very short amount of time.  I was shocked at what I was able to get done and how quickly I was able to do it.

I got done with my day and headed out and came home.  Heather was out driving and I helped the kids with their homework for a little bit.  Ruth cleaned up the kitchen and I worked on some things upstairs and then worked on my blog and helmets in the basement.  Heather and I got into a little bit of a tiff when she wasn’t home by quarter after five and there was no rhyme or reason as to why there was no plan for dinner.  We went back and forth on the cell phone and finally had to have dinner at “Wendy’s” on Front Street.  I took the kids with me and we met there and then came home.  Heather dropped Austin off to Scouts and then I went downstairs and watched my usual Monday night shows including “How I Met Your Mother”, “Accidentally On Purpose”, “Two and a Half Men”, “Big Bang Theory”, and “CSI Miami”.

Okay, so let’s talk about Part 4 of Chapter 18 of “Star Wars – Medstar I:  Battle Surgeons, A Clone Wars Novel” by Michael Reaves and Steve Perry……Chapter 18 (Part 4):  While in the middle of the Gordian Reach Den was waiting to be loaded into a troop transport with a soldier that he was talking to.  The soldier was ound and had lied in order to get into the military.  He survived a unit that had over seventy-percent casualties.  He was being interviewed with his thoughts on Den’s thumb camera until an insurrectionist who was undercover, blows away a bunch of soldiers with a pulse carbine.  Including the trooper he was interviewing.  The insurrectionist walks right towards me and everyone was yelling at me to run, yet I cannot becuase I am too scared.  But then a kid jumps in front of me and takes a shot to the gut that was meant for my head, saving my life.  The shooters gun jams and the security takes him down.  I then squat down wit hthe kid and ask him why he did it and his reply was that I’m so little.  Den said he assumed that the shield had equated small stature with youth.  Den said he thanked the child before he died and the child told him to tell his mother he loved her.  Yant said that was sad, but then said there was more because the shooter was human and he was a fourteen year old child as well.  he asked one of the security guards to tell his mother he loves her.  Den then said that these are the stories that people know about from the front lines.  That shows that killing isn’t grand with children dying and mother’s hearts being broken all over.  Zan said he was sorry and Den said they all are.

As a new week begins…so does a GREAT line up  of television shows to fill your nights! It may be hard to get up on Monday morning  but Monday night is certainly easy to stay awake for… get ready for a  fantastic TV Night!

DWTS: Finale- The Final 3 couples dance for Mirror-ball supremacy, and an even more enticing,  extra couple of months in the fame spotlight!
Will it be…

Donny Osmond- his smile is legendary, his name is iconic…but will his dancing be enough to propel him past the ladies? Donny has been solid throughout the competiton, and a couple of weeks ago I had him pegged as the potential winner…last week he fell slightly flat for me (and the judges), so it will be interesting to see if he can revive his once stellar ability to hide his inadequacies behind his smile and showman-flair!

Mya- She’s starting to be memorable now…for instance, this week I remembered her name without having to look it up. She still needs some of Donny’s personality, and some of Kelly’s edge…but technically she’s probably the most precise (could it be her previous dance training?…no I will not let that go!) She will look hot, she will have hip-action and pointed toes…but will she stand out? If I can still remember her name tomorrow, she could have a shot!

Kelly Osbourne- Came out of the gate as the surprise of the season…surprise in that she has shed her bratty image and has a mega-watt smile that seems to make people forget how much they hated her 6 or 7 years ago! She is definitly a crowd/fan favourite, and although she has not been as strong throughout the competition, she has some serious voter support, she is quirky enough to stand out, and she is getting stronger at the right time— don’t count her out (she WAS on Ellen today for a final push!)

CSI Miami- I get some really mixed reviews on this show, and it all comes down to the love or hate for (insert dramatic pause) …Horatio Cain. It still breaks the top ten every week, and I’ve heard it continues to be the most watched TV show internationally. Love him or Hate him…Horatio will solve another crime, put another bad-guy in cuffs and ride off into the Miami sunset again tonight, CBS/CTV 10pm

Leafs vs Islanders - This is really billed as Leafs vs John Tavares. The Leafs are coming off a great game on saturday night, whereby the “rally helmets” came out and inspired a shoot-out win. Looking to continue and win ANOTHER (gasp!) game tonight vs the returning-local-phenom. Hey, they managed to beat Ovechkin… Tonight 7pm RSO

John and Kate plus 8…its over, this is the LAST time you’ll have to sit through John being interviewed on his dull couch, in his faded jeans and Ed Hardy Tee…The LAST time you’ll have to watch Kate sitting in the same dull couch (John-less), oppposing whatever John just said and playing Mom of the Year. So if you think this is worth watching because it has historic significance… Tonight at 9pm on TLC (unfortunately I cannot promise you will never see these two again, Kate has a talk show in the works…and John continues to breath.)

Trött och mör efter dagens härjande, kvällen slutade i TV-soffan, lagom ansträngande. CSI Miami blev det, fanns inte så mycket att välja på.  Men jag är så trött så det mesta passerade mig nog förbi utan större uppmärksamhet.

Pysslade lite här tidigare i kväll, har plockat över några inlägg till från gamla bloggen. Så för er som brukar läsa hos mig så blir det lite gammal skåpmat. Dom dyker nog upp lite nu och då, har lagt in dom för framtida publicering.  Den här bloggen fyller förresten en hel vecka i dag, och faktiskt så känns det som om jag trivs jättebra. Tänkte försöka hålla den lite “strikt” så här, ja inte det jag skriver men designen, annars vet ni ju hur jag är, kan pilla ihjäl mig på någon liten färg eller så. Nä, det får nog vara så här “enkelt”.

Här får ni en bild från i dag i repris, tycker den speglar bra hur vackert vädret var. Men som sagt, vädret skulle ju bara vara så här fint idag, sen får vi väl leva på minnet ett tag!

• Es ist mir ja schon fast peinlich, wieder über den Nebel zu schreiben, aber: Seit Donnerstag versinkt auch die Uni darin, was ziemlich bemerkenswert ist, da sie auf einem Berg steht. Es heißt immer wieder, er würde so bedrücken, der Nebel. Ist mir bislang nur vereinzelt aufgefallen. Ich mag ihn vor allem abends, wenn es draußen kalt ist und man sich ohnehin freut, bald wieder ins Warme zu kommen. Wenn man aber mittags von der Mensa aus nicht mehr den See sehen kann, dann nervt er schon ein bisschen.
• Nächste Woche beginnt in Konstanz der Weihnachtsmarkt und die Vorfreude ist schon jetzt groß. Die Dunkelheit, die Lichter, der dampfende Glühwein, die eingefrorenen Nasen – super Sache!
• Ich war heute in der Stadt, neben einem neuen Geldbeutel (bei meinem alten war nach einem halben Jahr die Verklebung des Münzfachs gerissen – hrmpf) gab’s einen Terminplaner für das nächste Jahr und einige Überlegungen, was denn die Verwandtschaft zu Weihnachten bekommt. Sieht ganz gut aus im Moment.
• Vergangene Woche hab ich mich vor einer Vorlesung mit einem Kommilitonen unterhalten, der Mitglied einer Studentenverbindung ist. Fast alle Klischees wurden bestätigt: Er war (zu) laut, (eindeutig) rechts und seine Lieblings-Gesprächsthemen waren Biersorten, wer auf welches Bier am schnellsten kotzt und andere Studentenverbindungen, vor allem schlagende. Ich hätte nie gedacht, dass Klischees so zutreffend sein können – auch wenn ich stark vermute, dass der arme junge Mann dort vor allem Mitglied ist, um Anschluss zu finden.
• Ich habe inzwischen erfahren, dass es im Medien-Bereich unserer Uni-Bibliothek nicht nur wissenschaftliche Filme, sondern auch sehr viele Filme und TV-Serien auf DVD gibt. Vorhin hab ich ein paar Stichproben gemacht, “Sex & the City” ist dort ebenso zu finden wie “CSI: Miami” und “Grey’s Anatomy”. Unerwartet, aber ganz interessant…
• Nach etwas mehr als einem Monat Studium kann ich sagen: Ja, Bachelor bedeutet Arbeit! Inzwischen verschwimmt die Arbeitstag-Wochenened-Grenze, morgen werde ich zum ersten Mal an einem Sonntag in die Bibliothek gehen (auch noch abends!) und auch ansonsten gibt es keine “freien Tage” im eigentlichen Sinn – irgendwas muss immer getan werden…

A Fox e a CBS empataram em primeiro lugar na demo qualificada, com a ABC levando a melhor em total de telespectadores. Algumas séries da ABC atingiram sua melhor audiência na temporada, enquanto, adivinha?, ‘Heroes’ atingiu seu novo recorde negativo.

A Fox levou ao ar ‘House’ e ‘Lie to Me’. A primeira fez 12.9 milhões de telespectadores e 5.1 pontos na demo qualificada 18-49, enquanto a segunda fez apenas 2.9 pontos e atraiu 7.8 milhões de telespectadores. As duas séries tiveram ligeiras quedas.

A CBS exibiu ‘How I Met Your Mother’ (8.4 milhões e 3.5 pontos), ‘Accidentally on Purpose’ (7.8 milhões e 3.0 pontos), ‘Two And a Half Men’ (14.1 milhões e 4.8 pontos) e ‘The Big Bang Theory’ (13.5 milhões e ótimos 5.1 pontos na demo – crescimento de 9%). A emissora fechou a noite com ‘CSI: Miami’ (13.5 milhões e 3.8 pontos).

Com sua finale se aproximando, ‘Dancing With the Stars’ da ABC foi muito bem, atingindo sua maior audiência na temporada: 10.9 milhões e 2.6 pontos.

Já ‘Heroes’, na NBC, atingiu sua pior audiência na história: 5.1 milhões de telespectadores e 2.2 pontos na demo. ‘Trauma’, já cancelada, também foi muito mal: 5.2 milhões e 1.8 ponto. A emissora fechou a noite com ‘The Jay Leno Show’ em alta de 17%: 4.5 milhões e 1.4 ponto. o talk show contou com a participação de Taylor Lautner, co-estrela de ‘New Moon’.

A CW fecha a lista com ‘Gossip Girl’ e ‘One Tree Hill’. A primeira fez 2.6 milhões e 1.2 ponto, enquanto a segunda fez 2.2 milhões e o mesmo 1.2 ponto.
