Fave episodes:

Sex, Lies and Larvae: Loved Sara in this feisty and kick ass

Crash and Burn: Hate Hank for what he did to Sara, but it makes a great storyline

Bloodlines: The sub-plot that started after Crash and Burn reaches a climax. It’s been simmering away for over a year, and finally boils over. A great example of what makes this show so great

Nesting Dolls: Breath-taking acting by Jorja, as we finally find out why Sara takes Domestic Abuse cases so personally, anothe great example of the excellent “slow burn” storylines that make this show so great.

(are you starting to notice a pattern here?   ;)

Commited: Builds upon the revelation made in Nesting dolls, brilliantly acted out by Jorja and Billy.

4×4: Sara in a decon shower.. ’nuff said.  :ph43r:  :dev:

Organ Grinder: Really cute and funny scenes between Sara and Greg.

Strip Strangler: Sara acting as bait for a serial killer against Grissom’s wishes  makes for a tense episode.

Too Tough To Die: Sara getting passionate, feisty and determined with the Pamela Adler case. This episode shows so much about why I just love this character, the depth of the writing and Jorja’s acting is superb.

Living Doll: That insanely sadistic cliff hanger with Sara trapped under the car and all of the dark, eerie, trademark CSI  scenes leading up to it

Dead Doll : The Season 8 opener. Grissom teetering on the edge of losing control of his emotions, the entire team being frantic to find Sara, and of course the guts,determination and will to live of Sara herself make this an absolutely brilliant episode.

Goodbye and Good Luck: Sara’s exit is nothing short of astounding.  By now the Character is really beginning to spiral into emotional turmoil and PTSD after the events of Living Doll and Dead Doll. Jorja shows this through her body lanuage, tone of voice, expressions etc.  It all boils over and Sara loses it when interrogating Hannah West. When Marlon West, Hannah’s brother, is framed by his Sister for murder, the CSI team fail to prove his innonce, and he commits suicide. Sara finds this to be the last straw and she splits, hating to leave Grissom but at the same time terrified of self destructing in front of him, which she knows will happen  if she doesn’t get away. All in All a brilliant episode, a fitting and satisfactory departure for my favourite character on the show. (as a regular at least)

For Warrick: The finest dam premiere of the entire series. Everyone has a chance to shine as the team struggles to come to terms with Warrick’s death. Sara makes a wonderfully in character and dramatic come back in this episode. She has changed so much since getting away from Vegas and is so much happier and at ease. This again is really shown well by both the writing and Jorja’s acting.

The scene between Grissom and Sara  has all the things that made this relationship great. You can see that despite the fact that getting away from Vegas and the job is exactly what she needed and how much she has benefited from it, Sara has missed Grissom terribly.

You can see that in  the way she clings to him and tries everything she can to comfort him in their renuion scene in his office.

Nick is particularly great here too, he’s pissed and depises McKeen for killing Warrick.

Their confronation scene is just intense, with McKeen taunting Nick, who comes thisclose to actually killing him, but doesn’t in the end, knowing that ‘Rick wouldn’t have wanted that.  George Eads and Conor O’Farell are brilliant here, they really make the scene a powerful one.

The Happy Place:

Following on from “For Warrick” the CSI team is clearly still reeling from the death of their friend and colleague, Grissom is finding it particularly tough and the scene at the beginning where he’s just pleading with Sara to stay, is really emotional.

She tries to convince him to leave with her, each of them longing to be with the other, but unable to bring themselves to do so on the other’s terms (at least not at that point….) .  So very much true to the nature of the couple that was developed all through the years.

This epiosode serves as a sequel of sorts to “Too Tough To Die” and after eight years, we re-visit the case of Pamela Adler. Sara Shines in this episode, all of the traits that make her such an engaging character are shown, she hasn’t lost a bit of it. She’s just as impassioned, feisty and determined to get justice. She’s snappy and abrupt with Brass and generally in her trademark won’t take any shit attitude.

It’s also great to hear Thomas Adler, Pamela’s husband, mention that they missed Sara when she left.  This certainly implys that she kept her promise at the end of Too Tough To Die to visit them, thus making the character all the more endearing, and richer, in such a sublte and low key way.

The case involves the fact that Thomas, pulled the plug on his wife’s life support machine, he clains that this is because Tony Thorpe, the man who was suspected to have raped and beaten Pamela Adler eight years prior, but was never proven quilty, has said he’s raped her again, and would continue to do so. Thomas Adler states that he cut off the life supoort machine to spare his wife any more assualts.

When the suspect in the case is discovered to have been paralyzed for over a year, it becomes clear he couldn’t possibly be guilty.
It turns out that Thomas Adler made up the whole thing. He had just gotten to breaking point and could no longer handle seeing his wife like that. So he pulled the plug himself, just wanting it to be over.

At first Sara is upset that he lied to her, but when she hears how desperate he has become, his situation ressonates with her. It serves as an extra resolution, not that she needed any, that she has to be away from this world now.

So yeah, all of my absolute favourite episodes are Sara and/or Grissom/Sara centric. Others that are favourites for more generic reasons are listed as follows…

Hounourable Mentions:

Viva Las Vegas: Not sure why I like this one, could possibly be something to do with one of the guest stars.  :hmm: 

Grave Danger: Very emotional episode, George Eads is fantastic in this. Everyone else is great too, brilliant ensemble.

Jackpot: Grissom constantly being one step ahead of some seriously dodgy locals.

Stalker: Great Nick centred episode and pretty creepy.

Gum Drops: Again a great Nick centred episode, and another brilliant ensemble.

The unusual Suspect: Another great ensemble and nice twist ending.

Who Shot Sherlock: Greg passes his profeciency .

So those are my favourite episodes. Please note, that “least favourite” is meant as just that! I don’t  really hate  any episoes of the show, just there are some I like significantly less than others…

Least Favourite episodes:

Cross-Jurisdictions: Calleigh and Horatio from CSI: Miami, who put me off of that spin off are in it, so really don’t have as much love for this one.

Fur and Loathing: Kind of boring compared to other episodes

Weeping Willows: Pretty meh episode.

Okay, I’ve been absent long enough. And I’m going to be posting a bunch.

Hopefully enough that you’ll forgive me for being absent around Thanksgiving.

Also hopefully, I’ll be able to figure out the darned delayed posting thingummie that wordpress (so thoughtfully) provides in time, and make it so you guys don’t notice my absence… erm.. well, except for the fact that I just… um… told you. Just now.

P.S. – That last bit owes itself to a nifty little show called NCIS, a guilty pleasure for anyone of refined taste, but well worth it anyway for the cast. The cast has an amazing amount of chemistry for being in yet another csi rip-off, and the characters are so well realized that one wishes that NCIS had been the first, and not CSI.

As a new week begins…so does a GREAT line up  of television shows to fill your nights! It may be hard to get up on Monday morning  but Monday night is certainly easy to stay awake for… get ready for a  fantastic TV Night!

Here’s what I’m watching tonight:

DWTS: Finale- The Final 3 couples dance for Mirror-ball supremacy, and an even more enticing,  extra couple of months in the fame spotlight!
Will it be…

Donny Osmond- his smile is legendary, his name is iconic…but will his dancing be enough to propel him past the ladies? Donny has been solid throughout the competiton, and a couple of weeks ago I had him pegged as the potential winner…last week he fell slightly flat for me (and the judges), so it will be interesting to see if he can revive his once stellar ability to hide his inadequacies behind his smile and showman-flair!

Mya- She’s starting to be memorable now…for instance, this week I remembered her name without having to look it up. She still needs some of Donny’s personality, and some of Kelly’s edge…but technically she’s probably the most precise (could it be her previous dance training?…no I will not let that go!) She will look hot, she will have hip-action and pointed toes…but will she stand out? If I can still remember her name tomorrow, she could have a shot!

Kelly Osbourne- Came out of the gate as the surprise of the season…surprise in that she has shed her bratty image and has a mega-watt smile that seems to make people forget how much they hated her 6 or 7 years ago! She is definitly a crowd/fan favourite, and although she has not been as strong throughout the competition, she has some serious voter support, she is quirky enough to stand out, and she is getting stronger at the right time— don’t count her out (she WAS on Ellen today for a final push!)

tune in for the finale tonight on ABC/CTV 8pm

CSI Miami- I get some really mixed reviews on this show, and it all comes down to the love or hate for (insert dramatic pause) …Horatio Cain. It still breaks the top ten every week, and I’ve heard it continues to be the most watched TV show internationally. Love him or Hate him…Horatio will solve another crime, put another bad-guy in cuffs and ride off into the Miami sunset again tonight, CBS/CTV 10pm

Leafs vs Islanders - This is really billed as Leafs vs John Tavares. The Leafs are coming off a great game on saturday night, whereby the “rally helmets” came out and inspired a shoot-out win. Looking to continue and win ANOTHER (gasp!) game tonight vs the returning-local-phenom. Hey, they managed to beat Ovechkin… Tonight 7pm RSO

Other Mentionables:

John and Kate plus 8…its over, this is the LAST time you’ll have to sit through John being interviewed on his dull couch, in his faded jeans and Ed Hardy Tee…The LAST time you’ll have to watch Kate sitting in the same dull couch (John-less), oppposing whatever John just said and playing Mom of the Year. So if you think this is worth watching because it has historic significance… Tonight at 9pm on TLC (unfortunately I cannot promise you will never see these two again, Kate has a talk show in the works…and John continues to breath.)

Whatever you decide to watch, have a great TV Night.

Com o feriado se aproximando nos EUA, diversos programas de esporte na TV a cabo e com as principais emissoras começando a reprisar sua programação devido ao fim do ano, a maioria dos shows exibidos na quinta tiveram queda. Somada toda a programação, a noite teve uma queda de 4% em relação a semana anterior. Ah, claro que a CBS ganhou a noite.

A emissora ficou em primeiro lugar com as exibições de ‘Survivor’ (12.3 milhões e 3.7 pontos) em queda de 5%, ‘CSI’ (15 milhões e 3.5 pontos) em queda de 15% e ‘The Mentalist’ (15.8 milhões e 3.7 pontos) que subiu 1% em um episódio mitológico relacionado ao Red John. Foi a segunda maior audiência da série nesta temporada.

A ABC exibiu ‘FlashForward’ (8 milhões e 2.4 pontos) em queda de 8% – menor audiência da série até aqui, ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ (14 milhões e bons 5.0 pontos na demo) caindo 11%, ‘Private Practice’ (9 milhões e 3.1 pontos) caindo péssimos 21% atingindo sua menor audiência na temporada.

A NBC e a Fox empataram no terceiro lugar. A primeira exibiu ‘Community’ (5.1 milhões e 2.0 pontos), ‘Parks & Recreation’ (4.6 milhões e 2.0 pontos), ‘The Office’ (7.4 milhões e 3.7 pontos – caindo 12%), ‘30 Rock’ (5.9 milhões e 2.9 pontos) estável e ‘The Jay Leno Show’ (4.8 milhões e 1.4 ponto) também estável.

A Fox exibiu ‘Bones’ (9.8 milhões e 2.7 pontos) em queda de 7% e ‘Fringe’ (5.9 milhões e 2.0 pontos) em queda perigosa de 15%.

A CW ficou em último com a exibição de ‘Vampire Diaries’ (3.7 milhões e 1.7 ponto) em queda de 11%. ‘Supernatural’ fez 1.3 ponto na demo qualificada e atingiu 2.6 milhões de pessoas.

Otto Bahn vient de livrer le 8e épisode de Yosemite Groove chez www.robertneveutpaslire.com. Les épisodes 9,10, 11 et 12 seront livrés prochainement, puis les 7 premiers épisodes seront entièrement réécrits et le tout sera édité aux États-Unis, traduit par Roxanne Sanders. Il sera publié chez une maison d’édition papier de San Francisco et contiendra des photos et de la musique originale. Ainsi prendra fin une expérience qui était partie pour le moins modestement.
L’original français numérique sera bien sûr disponible chez Robert.

La entrada de Lauren Fishburne en la serie CSI Las Vegas ha propiciado que, en la décima temporada de la serie, se haga éste guiño a Matrix. Recordemos que Fishburne interpretaba a Morfeo en la ya mítica película de los hermanos Wachowski, y por ello que mejor que realizar éste pedazo de travelling por las estancias del laboratorio utilizando el efecto Bullet-Time. Su calidad es tremenda, algo que ya nos tiene acostumbrados la franquicia CSI.

CSI scende ma vince comunque la serata del giovedì contro Grey’s Anatomy, anch’esso in calo, che però fa sempre meglio nel pubblico giovane. FlashForward continua a perdere pubblico mentre Bones migliora leggermente il risultato della scorsa settimana. Anche The Mentalist migliora, soprattutto nei rating. Tutte le altre serie, compreso The Vampire Diaries, scendono.

• Torna Chuck, si sposta Heroes e Trauma si allunga
  Ci siamo! La NBC ha annunciato la data di ritorno per una delle serie più attese del network. Chuck tornerà domenica 10 gennaio con un doppio episodio per poi spostarsi, già dal giorno dopo, al lunedì in accoppiata con Heroes che traslocherà alle 21.00. Avremo quindi tre episodi nuovi della serie in due giorni. La NBC crede molto in Chuck nonostante a maggio il rinnovo per una terza stagione sia stato in dubbio fino all’ultimo. La serie è stata inoltre allungata, dai tredici previsti originariamente, a diciannove episodi e il cast completamente riconfermato ad eccezione di un solo personaggio che non apparirà più regolarmente. Tra le guest star annunciate di questa stagione segnalo Angie Harmon, Brandon Routh, Robert Patrick, Kristin Kreuk, Armand Assante, Steve Austin e Vinne Jones. Heroes, come già detto, si sposterà alle 21.00 dopo un doppio episodio che inizierà la seconda parte della stagione il 4 gennaio; si spera che l’accoppiata con Chuck risollevi la serie che è sempre più in difficoltà. Infine a sorpresa, la NBC ha ordinato altri tre episodi della serie Trauma che portano quindi la stagione a sedici episodi: dieci andranno in onda fino a Natale, mentre i rimanenti sei lungo il 2010.
• Fissata la data di inizio per Lost
  Era una delle notizie più attese e finalmente è stata annunciata. Lost inizierà la sua sesta ed ultima stagione martedì 2 febbraio alle ore 21.00 con una season premiere di due ore che sarà preceduta alle 20.00 dal solito speciale riassuntivo della stagione precedente. La serie è stata spostata dallo spazio che occupava l’anno scorso, e cioè mercoledì alle 21.00, a causa della nuova Modern Family che ora occupa quello slot e sta iniziando ad ottenere risultati discreti. In questo modo Lost andrà a scontrarsi di nuovo con American Idol su FOX. È stato anche annunciato il cast fisso della serie e che sarà composto da: Naveen Andrews (Sayid), Nestor Carbonell (Richard), Emilie de Ravin (Claire), Michael Emerson (Ben), Jeff Fahey (Frank) Matthew Fox (Jack), Jorge Garcia (Hurley), Josh Holloway (Sawyer), Daniel Dae Kim (Jin), Yunjin Kim (Sun), Ken Leung (Miles), Evangeline Lilly (Kate), Terry O’Quinn (Locke) e Zuleikha Robinson (Ilana).
  Sono inoltre confermate anche apparizioni di: Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet), Ian Somerhalder (Boone), Rebecca Mader (Charlotte), Dominic Monaghan (Charlie), Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond) e Katey Sagal (Helen).
• ABC lancia una serie web legata a Grey’s Anatomy
  ABC ha fatto partire ieri sera Seattle Grace: On Call una Web series collegata  al medical drama di successo Grey’s Anatomy. Il primo di sei episodi è apparso  su ABC.com subito dopo la messa in onda della puntata di Grey’s. Girata in stile documentario, si svolge all’Emerald City Bar, il locale frequentato dai dottori durante le loro pause. Alcuni attori di Grey’s, come Gloria Garayua e Brandon Scott che interpretano ruoli minori, appariranno lungo i sei episodi e ci saranno riferimenti alle trame della serie madre. Curiosità: sponsor dell’iniziativa è l’italianissima Bertolli.
• Il film televisivo di Smallville ha un titolo
  Abbiamo già parlato del TV movie di Smalville, ma continuano ad arrivare novità. I due titoli originali degli episodi (Society e Legends) sono stati cambiati in uno unico, Smallville: Absolute Justice. Il film andrà in onda il 5 febbraio e non il 29 gennaio come annunciato precedentemente. Infine, ecco come apparirà Hawkman interpretato da Michael Shanks (Stargate SG-1).
• The Oprah Winfrey Show finirà nel 2011
  La notizia è così epocale che non può passare inosservata in uno spazio che si chiama TV USA. Oprah Winfrey ha deciso di chiudere il suo famosissimo talk show per settembre 2011 e non rinnovare il contratto che la vedeva legata ad uno dei programmi più remunerativi della storia televisiva. La prossima mossa della Winfrey sarà quella di passare completamente al suo canale via cavo OWN e, probabilmente, lanciare un nuovo talk show. Oprah Winfrey è considerata una delle persone più influenti del paese nonché una delle più ricche. Intanto si parla già del dopo-Oprah per tutte quelle stazioni televisive locali che mandano il programma in onda in syndication e la NBC spera di poter piazzare il proprio talk “Ellen“, condotto da Ellen DeGeneres nello spazio che rimarrà vuoto. Curiosamente la DeGeneres appare proprio questo mese sulla copertina del rivista “O, The Oprah Magazine“. Sarà un caso?
• Un dietro le quinte di “Law & Order – I due volti della giustizia“
  Law & Order – I due volti della giustizia con ben venti stagioni alle spalle è senza dubbio il veterano dei telefilm attualmente in onda. La serie sembrava essere stata rinnovata l’anno scorso più come omaggio al prestigioso traguardo dei venti anni che non per un’effettiva volontà della NBC di portarla avanti ed invece i buoni risultati che sta ottenendo potrebbero spingere il network a continuarla per un’ulteriore stagione. Quello che vi propongo di seguito è un piccolo dietro le quinte dell’episodio in onda stasera in USA che vede come guest star il famoso attore Elliott Gould (che ricordiamo in televione per MASH, E.R. Medici in prima linea, Friends).

Tutti ricordano la colonna sonora del film di Donnie Darko, Mad World. Pochi sanno però che questa canzone è uno dei successi dei Tears for Fears, pubblicata nel 1982 come terzo singolo dell’album di debutto del gruppo, The Hurting. Ad essere passata alla storia è infatti la sua cover firmata da Michael Andrews e cantata da Gary Jules che è diventata colonna sonora di importanti film e serial come Csi, E.R. – Medici in prima linea – Cold Case, Nip/Tuck, Smallville e anche per la pubblicità del videogioco Gears of War per XBox 360. Quando la nuova Mad World venne trasmessa lo stile vocale di Jules fu paragonato a quello di Michael Stipe, voce dei R.E.M.

Al di là della melodia, dolce ma ossessivamente ripetitiva, c’è un passaggio nel testo che rende Mad World fondamentale per qualsiasi compliation malinconico/evocativa: And I find it kind of funny/I find it kind of sad/The dreams in which I’m dying/Are the best I’ve ever had/I find it hard to tell you/I find it hard to take/When people run in circles/It’s a very very/Mad world/Mad world. It’s Thursday …which means we’ve made it back to the best night in TV (although tuesday gives it a run for its money these days…)!

Survivor, CSI, Greys Anatomy, The Office, 30 Rock, even a Leaf game…You definitly need to call off every plan you’ve made tonight …it’s a TV Night!

Here’s what I’m watching tonight:

Survivor- This show is all about Russel at this point… will he continue to wield his power over his tribe and Shambo?  The ’swing’ vote seems to emerge around this time every season, and this time it is definitly Shambo (her fem-mullett needs a trim…). Will she be loyal to her “old tribe” or succumb to the charm that is…Russel. Old Galu seems to think they still have the upper hand in terms of numbers but here is how it REALLY stands:

Foa Foa= 4 (+ or – Shambo)
Galu=6 (+ or - Shambo)

Therefore, it will all depend on who makes Shambo feel more welcome, important and loved… let the rear kissing begin! Even if Shambo joins Russel and his clan, He will still have some work to do to secure one more vote. That will be like childs play for him. Oh, and remember…he found the other, OTHER immunity idol. Tune in tonight Global/CBS 8pm

Greys Anatomy- Izzy’s back, and Alex is really regretting marrying her. Will he hook-up with the Short-haired, Doe-eyed Lurker in pure frustration? I saw a teaser for tonight where a young blonde lady shows up and professes she just may be McSteamy spawn (explains why she’s so darn attractive)…question, is she older than Lexie? Because that wouldnt be awkward. Also, I think  it was pretty obvious in the last episode that the new hot heart surgeon has it BAD for Yang’s man (Owen)…prediction…this will not end well! (think fight between Uma Thurman and Vivica Fox in Kill Bill) ABC/CTV 9pm

CSI- I’ve missed NOT seeing Dr Ray every other night like last week…And I love the return of Sara Sidle (my personal fav)…so I am definitly watching tonight. What (heartwarming) topic will be tackled tonight? Suicide, Homicide, Prostitution, Serial Murder ? tune in tonight at 8pm CTV

Y es que parece que nuestro jugador estrella de la NBA parece que le ha cogido gustillo a eso de las cámaras y los platos de rodaje. Después de aparecer en la serie ‘Numbers’ interpretándose a si mismo, el pasado lunes apareció en ‘CSI Miami’ metiéndose en el la piel de  Víctor Emparo, un alto cargo de una compañía de videojuegos que se vio inmerso dentro de un accidente. El capitulo fue estrenado en Estados Unidos y en España no se vera hasta dentro de un año, no seré yo quien lo destripe, por que ya lo han hecho muchos medios pero Pau muere en el capitulo.

Gasol ha demostrado que es un crack jugando al baloncesto, eso nadie lo discute, parece que actuar no se le da nada mal pero sin duda lo que no esperábamos es ver al jugador de los Lakers ¡CANTANDO!… si cantando en un anuncio del juego de Play Station Singstar en una versión con canciones del grupo Mecano.

Este chico vale para todo. Juzguen ustedes mismos.

Thursday.  I will be so happy when the weekend is here.  Thanks to the Syracuse Heroes Expo being moved back, I will have a weekend free of anything official going on.  I still have a lot planned for the rest of my week, but at least I don’t have somewhere else that I have to be.  I got up this morning and got myself going for the day.  I took a shower while Heather got the kids ready for their day.  As I got out of the shower, Heather left for work and I sat down and ate breakfast with the kids while we watched “The Early Show” on CBS.  They were starting to get excited about not only Thanksgiving coming up, but Christmas as well.  Little do they know that most of them are getting just what they want for Christmas.  It’s  a good thing they can’t read my blog, but Ruth already has a Nintendo DS coming for her (we found one relatively cheap on Ebay) and Austin will be getting all the Star Wars stuff he wants and Tara is getting some Hello Kitty stuff among other things.  I got done eating and then I was off to work while they were off to school.

I got to school and set things up for my day.  My classes are already split in what they are doing thanks to the half day yesterday.  I really don’t like it when we have split days like that because it sets my classes off from each other which means that I have each class in different places which means I have more preps for each day.  I don’t think other teachers and administrators consider that when planning schedules.  I call it tunnel vision.  I made it through my day and many of my classes at least started with their first music history lesson and some didn’t even get that far.  I will be so happy when I finally have a full week of classes to make sure that I can get those things done and we can get underway completing these assignments.  But, that won’t happen till after Thanksgiving, if even then.

I got done with my day and headed home.  I got home and helped the kids with their homework, which ended up being a rather dramatic moment for both Austin and Tara.  They were making things harder than they needed to be in their homework.  I then talked with them about their report cards, including Ruth.  All my kids had a decent start to their classes this year.  Austin and Tara could do a little better, but I can’t complain about how they are doing.  They are starting to catch up on reading skills and I have to say that I’m proud of Austin because he is really getting a lot done and the only bad grade he has is band.  We discovered that he has a bad band grade because he’s afraid of missing important information in the classroom.  I can appreciate that, but I told him that taking and instrument is a responsibility.  We talked about solutions.  We then all ate dinner together.

After dinner, I went downstairs and started to play some more of “Call of Duty 4″ on my PS 3 and have decided that I’m going to work toward a Gold RPDfor the game.  I played for about an hour and a half and then watched my usual shows including “Survivor”, “CSI”, and “Fringe” on tape.

Okay, so let’s talk about Part 3 of Chapter 17 of “Star Wars – Medstar I:  Battle Surgeons, A Clone Wars Novel” by Michael Reaves and Steve Perry……Chapter 17 (Part 3):  I-Five said the assassin stole something from them and they were getting ready to pursue, and then he was suddenly on a spice-smuggling freighter.  I-Five then speculated that Lorn had deactivated him to save him while he saved a female friend of his.  Den said he wished he had been around to tell the story and I-Five said he would not want this story because this Zabrack is far more dangerous than even the Black Sun.  I-Five then said that this story has no end since it’s now a decade later and he had no idea if Lorn Pavan was live or dead and that his entire story was hushed up at some extremely high governmental level.  Den said it sounded interesting and that he would see what he could dig up. I-Five said he was deactivated for about twelve weeks after the incident and that he was part of some barter arrangement.  He was then part of the Kessel Run for six years until he was confiscated and auctioned to a merchant captain.  I-Five said that there are then huge gaps in his memory banks.  Once the war started, I-Five was then sold to The Republic and he ended up working for a Naboo noble family member and said he still wishes he could get drunk.  Den said that the droid’s lucky that he hasn’t had a mind wipe as most people don’t like uppity droids.  I-Five said he’s kept himself in check but that he has been somewhat lonely.  He said that he’s tired of the carnage and tht he thinks a maintenance droid could run The Republic better than it is being run now.  Den pointed out that it’s sedition and I-Five suggested that he should get his disgust damper recharged.  Den pointed out that maybe he should just become organic.  I-Five then sarcastically said tht he must leave and take care of bandages since that is a better use for his computer mind instead of solving Chun’s Theory of Reductional Infinity.  After I-Five left, Zan began to play a melody that matched Den’s mood.  He could not believe a master had granted a droid equal status.  He wasn’t shocked by an emancipated droid, but it gave him another reason to drink.

Tras 193 episodios de “CSI”, ayer AXN emitió el capítulo final en el que el alma de la serie, porque lo es, Gil Grissom abandonaba su puesto de supervisor del CSI de Las Vegas dejando como su relevo, más o menos, al profesor Raymond Langston (Laurence Fishburne).

Una pena que Grissom se vaya porque, a pesar de que sólo he visto a Langston en dos capítulos, nadie puede sustituirle por lo que sí que le voy a echar de menos, hasta tal punto de que me da pereza ver la serie sin él. Pero, como no creo que le queden muchas más temporadas que la que actualmente están emitiendo en Estados Unidos, ya tengo que acabar de verla.

Con el capítulo de ayer podía haber acabado la serie porque el final fue… Grissom dejó el laboratorio mirando sala por sala para ver a sus compañeros una vez más, mientras sonaba una música de fondo, hasta llegar a la última sala donde estaban Catherine (Marg Helgenberger) y Brass (Paul Guilfoyle) y ella le guiñó el ojo. Así, Grissom apareció en medio de una selva armado con su sombrero, mochila y un aparato del tamaño de un móvil que le indicaba dónde había algo para acabar en un campamento donde se reune con Sara (Jorja Fox) y se besan. Qué romántico y qué buen final.

Grissom, te echaremos de menos y para el recuerdo queda esa gran frase de “las pruebas no mienten, las personas sí”.

A Body Between Them

Eric: “We draw a line in the sand. From here on in no one mentions this to anyone else. You all got that? From now on, this never happened. We get rid of it and it never happened.”

After scraping a line in the wet sand with his white trainers crusted with dirt, he stood on his own, the wind blowing through his scraggly hair, the grey clouds formed over a Midlands shore. A group of five people stood awkwardly on the other side of the line, the sound of the rhythmic waves puncturing any hope for true silence, where thoughts manifest themselves unhindered by the outside world. In front of them was the body.

Eric: “Well?” His weather-beaten face was screwed up, pulling a desperate expression. The grey evening gave these people no real light, their faces pale and gaunt and lifeless expressions plastered all over them. The face of the body before them still had his final emotion clinging to it – Rigour-mortis had kept his mouth forced open, statued in fear.

One of the five, a woman with her head down and tears dripping down her face in reverential silence, muttered, “We should phone the police Eric…”

Eric: “No! No one call the pigs! That is the last thing we want to do! This was not our fault! This was not my fault! But do you think they’ll believe that? Well?” He stood at his side of the line. Alone.

The grey filter in which we see theses people does not fade. There is no defining epiphany to make things clear, no divine answer. Instead six people stand uneasy with a body between them, until one of them, balding, his eyes stricken with fear said, “I’ve got a shovel in the back of my car.”

Then debate from the five.

“We can’t bury a body in the sand. It’s not deep enough…”

“There’s a forest a couple miles from here…”

“We can’t do this… this is insane…”

“We have to. Eric’s right… they’ll never believ…”

“We have to decide soon okay. We’re out in the open here…”

“We can’t know what the police’ll think…”

“What if somebody finds us out. Then we’re fucked…”

“No one needs to know. Not if we bury it deep enough..”

“The police…”

“How are they going to even know it was us. There’s no way they’ll…”

“I’ve seen CSI and shit like that. They’ll find prints and DNA and…”

“Not if it’s buried for long enough. Fingerprints fade. So does DNA…”

Eric: “This. Is the only way.”

They stood in silence once again. Eric moved towards the body, over his line, and raised it by the armpits. Eric: “Is somebody going to help me here. I can’t do this on my own.”

The two men of the group stepped forward and grabbed a leg each, raising the body off the ground completely. Eric: “Right Patrick, we’re using your car since you’ve got the shovel. You’ll have to get rid of it later.” He nodded towards the three girls. “One of you get Marie’s phone off ‘er. We’re not getting the pigs into this mess. Alright?”

One of the women moved towards Marie and began searching the pockets of her anorak until her mobile phone was found. Marie looked into the eyes of the complicit woman that stood in front of her and said, “Becky…. we can’t do this.”

Becky looked right back and weakly replied, “We have to.”

The men struggled up the beach, a body between them, the women following close behind. They reached the sand banks that led to the car park and the three men dropped the body, panting vociferously. Through struggled breaths, adjusting his glasses, the balding man said, “I didn’t think this would happen on a day-trip to Grimsby.”

Eric: “No one did.”

“I mean, it’s meant to be Britain’s second best beach. Who could have thought that he would just come at us and then… well then Marie would flip…”

Marie paced up to the balding man, her hands balled into fists, “How the bloody hell would you know what happened? That man attacked us! He attacked us for Christ’s sake…”

“So you claim…”

“So I claim? You don’t know what you’re talking about! Fuck you!” Marie pushed the man before her, knocking him off balance – knocking him onto the body. As his shirt connected with the blood-strewn green t-shirt of a dead man, he screamed. He ambled off the body, his glasses falling off his face and into the sand, his body shivering, his eyes watering, hands shaking, body shaking, heart pulsing, alive. He ran at Marie, “you fucking sick bitch!”, and grabbed her by the lapels of her shirt. Eric ran at him, pulling him forcefully off her and pushing him away. The sand sat silently underneath them, feeling the stances of six people and the dead weight of a body.

Eric: “Patrick, shut the fuck up and calm down. We’ve got work to do and we need to it as soon as possible. After this, you two don’t even have to talk. For now, let’s be civil. Go to your car and start the engine. Marie, you’ll take the weight Patrick was carrying. Now let’s hurry up.”

Patrick picked up his glasses then walked unsteadily away from the group with his face crimson. Then the body was again picked up for the journey to the car. They struggled, two women walking reluctantly beside them. Dead eyes were staring up at Eric. He was looking forward. Always looking forward. They reached the car and piled it into the boot with no help from Patrick – he was sitting in the drivers seat with his face still deep red, staring out of the front window at nothing in particular.

Eric shut the boot, an action that snapped Patrick out of his hypnotised glare, causing him to wind his window down and say, “I don’t think we’ll fit everyone in my car. It only seats five.”

Eric: “Someone can sit on someone else’s lap.”

Patrick spluttered and said, “But what if the police pull us over? I could get a fine for something like that you know!”

Eric: “Patrick, you have a dead body in your boot. If the pigs pull us over then a fine’s really not what you should be worrying about.”

Eric then turned to the other man, his mousy face silent and scared. Eric: “Are you alright Jez? You haven’t said anything since…”

“I’m fine,” He snapped, “Let’s get in the car.”

Eric: Yea. Sure. Let’s go.”

The group piled into Patrick’s car. Eric sat at the front. Eric: “How long ’til we get to the woods?”

Patrick muttered, “Fifteen minutes.”

The group in the car were silent. The car hummed, the occasional splutter of an unhealthy engine interrupting their brief respite. At regular intervals, Patrick looked into the rear-view mirror at Marie, his anger refusing to wane.

No solutions are set in stone. As a car with a body in its boot speeds towards a thick forest on a grey Grimsby evening, a group of police officers sit in their station watching television and drinking endless cups of tea. A group of MPs are sitting around a restaurant table discussing foreign policy. A gang of youths hang around on a street corner doing nothing in particular. People around the world are asleep, out drinking, working, living their lives. As a car with a body in its boot speeds towards a thick forest on a grey Grimsby evening, nothing is different. What people don’t know can’t hurt them. Still, the stress of the situation slowly turned these people’s collective cognitive functions into ones of paranoia, and when paranoia becomes an overwhelming facet of a human being no solutions are set in stone. No solutions make sense. A respite let this group of people think.

The car reached the edge of the forest and then stopped dead. Eric: “Why’ve you stopped the car? We can’t bury a body here Patrick.”

Patrick looked at Eric with sand stuck to his thick-rimmed glasses and said, “This isn’t right.”

Eric: “This isn’t right? What do you mean this isn’t right? You were the one boasting about your shovel ownership not forty minutes ago!”

Patrick took his hands off the steering wheel, “Well… I’ve had time to think now and I’ve changed my mind.”

Eric: “I don’t care any more. We’ve gone too far to not bury this. How are you going to explain the fact that we piled a body into your boot before contacting the pigs? Were you planning on telling them we were handily trying to deliver the body to save them a bit of effort? We’re gone if we don’t do this, especially now. We have to do this. This is already done. Now drive.”

No one else spoke. Patrick placed his hands back on the steering wheel. The car began to drive into the forest, trees that have lived for hundreds of years looming over it and rendering it a minuscule speck in the spectrum of time. Eventually, it drove off-road, over mud and grass with only its headlights aiding it in the murky darkness of nature. Then it stopped, its headlights still glaring. The group got out in silence, Eric making his way to the boot. He dragged the body out and dropped it onto the ground. Then he grabbed the shovel. Eric: “Let’s start digging.”

Patrick spoke up again, “I-I still don’t think this is right. This isn’t even our mess. We all saw what Marie did! We all saw her…”

Marie looked spitefully at Patrick and said, “It wasn’t just me Patrick and you know it. Still… we have to phone the police.”

Eric: “We don’t call them. We’re not going to.”

Jez suddenly sparked, “Who put you in charge exactly? What makes you such an expert at what’s right for us? We’re gonna get found out, whether we bury the body or not. Nothing stays buried forever Eric. This is Tell-tale Heart shit right here!”

Eric: “Jez, don’t you start as well. I don’t need this from you…”

“Oh piss off Eric.”, fumed Jez, “Just ’cause I don’t say much in the office, doesn’t mean I’m gonna put up with your bossy shit when the body of a man’s at stake. This has gone too far…”

Eric: “We can’t call ‘em. Just can’t. This wasn’t our fault…”

“This was all of our faults Eric,” Jez replied, “You can convince yourself otherwise but deep down you know the truth. We did this, all of us. We’re calling the police.”

Patrick looked at Becky and the other woman and said, “Are you two with us or Eric?”

Becky muttered, “You.” The other woman nodded in agreement, shivering in shock.

“Five against one. That’s it then. Your way’s gone Eric,” said Patrick, with a sneering finality in his tone.

Eric screamed, “No! No! This is not how this is going! Fuck you Patrick!”

“Oh what are you gonna do leader-man?”, exclaimed Patrick, “Shut us up? Kill more people?”

Eric’s eyes were going insane, “I’ll kill all of you if it means I don’t go to prison! I’m not going there again!”

Everyone’s expressions were suddenly glazed with confusion. Marie said, “What do you mean again?”

Jez: “Prison? I’ve known you for years. What haven’t you told me?”

Eric turned towards Jez in a darting frenzy, “That’s not important! You people don’t know ANYTHING! Nothing about me. NoTHING about each other. You’re not even sure who killed THIS FILTH! None of it, none of IT’S important! What’s important is are you still phoning the fucking pigs? WELL?”

Jez: “We’re still phoning them Eric. Put down the shovel. You’re crossing a line here man. Put down the shovel. Now.”

Eric stopped holding the shovel lazily and gripped it tight, a weapon at the ready, “FUCK you Jez! Fuck ALL of you! YOU’RE all dead!

Eric ran towards Patrick with his shovel raised above his head, screaming insanely. Jez sprinted towards Eric, tackling him to the ground. The shovel flew far away from Eric, onto the mud and the grass and the darkness that was faraway from the headlights of the car that was warm and safe and clean apart from the boot which reeked of the stench of death and guilt-ridden consciences that do the right thing eventually. Jez stayed sitting on Eric, no chance of escape, and said to Marie, “Call them now. Let’s get the truth over and done with.”

Marie got her phone from Becky and dialled 999.

Then it began to rain.

We know nothing.

Domani sarà giornata campale, come ripeteva spesso il vecchio tabaccaio bolognese di via bentivogli, anche se non ho mai capito a cosa si riferisse l’anziano signore visto che il curanderozapatista acquistava appena un pacchetto di caramelle prima dell’ennesima giornata di studio. Ad ogni modo, metteva di buon umore. Oltre all’enfasi, quasi celebrativa, di ogni saluto. Adesso il tabacchi lo gestisce il figlio insieme alla moglie di origine domenicana. Segno dei tempi.

Domani si decide parte del futuro del cz, almeno quello ufficiale, sacrificato sull’altare del quiz a risposta multipla. Nel dubbio è più probabile che sia vera, sono molte di più le cose che non si conoscono. Il curanderozapatista si presenterà in alta uniforme, pigro di testa e ben vestito, e con stilografica d’acciaio di fabbricazione sovietica marcherà l’anonima carta democratica.
