Besiktas stod i den 5:e omgången av Champions League för en jätteknall, man slog giganterna Manchester United på bortaplan och som Galatasaray Supporter kan man inte vara annat än stolt och glad över denna seger, fy fan vad bra spelet. Ännu än gång är det Fabian Ernst som visar vägen och han är enorm den spelaren, dessutom går Ismail Köybasi från klarhet till klarhet, skulle inte förvåna mig om han inom några lämnar BJK för spel i någon annan Europeiskklubb!

Dessutom ska Ibrahim Uzulmez ha all creed han kan få, den gamla gubben sliter häcken av sig och han visade en mycket fin attityd mot Fener i helgen för att idag mot United visa att han har riktiga “cojones”, riktigt bra!

Men man ska inte glömma Rustu i målet, sicken målvakt, räddar på övertid inom loppet av 1 minut två nickar från nära håll, vi talar om guds hand, RUSTUS HÄNDER!

I den sista omgången blir det nu en direkt avgörande match för Besiktas som ligger 3 poäng bakom CSKA Moskva, en seger med fina siffror där skulle leda till fortsatt spel i Euro League, FORZA BLACK EAGLES!

Igår kväll testade jag en tradingteknik som jag sällan använder. Brukar undvika CL-matcherna, men eftersom jag trodde att det var ytterst liten risk att CSKA skulle göra tidigt mål mot Man U, så bokade jag 2-2 med avsikt att gröna ut efter 20 minuter. Oddset för 2-2 stod i 34. Vid matchstart lade jag en stängningsorder på 55. 

Finessen med denna strategi är att oddset stiger från start så länge det är mållöst. Och gör favo mål så kan man fortfarande göra marginell vinst. Risken ligger förstås i dogmål. Nu hade CSKA den goda smaken att vänta till 25:e minuten med att göra mål, och då var jag ute sedan 3-4 minuter…

Marknaden för Correct Score är väldigt spännande och det finns massor av strategier att tillämpa här. Kan bli föremål för framtida inlägg. Någon i läsekretsen som brukar dutcha eller köra andra strategier på CS-marknaden?

The second half of the group stage gets underway today and several big clubs have work to do if they want any chance of advancing to the knockout stage.  In today’s games, Bayern Munich needs a win against Bordeaux, while the winner of the mouth-watering AC Milan/Real Madrid clash will be in the drivers seat in group C.  In Wednesday’s matches, Liverpool is desperate for a win at Lyon after only gaining three points from the first three fixtures.  Spanish powerhouse Barcelona has struggled in group F as three teams have four points going into Wednesday.  Barca was “upset” by Rubin last time out, while Inter has failed to establish the same form that has them atop Serie A.  Check out the complete standings here.

El equipo del Bayern München recibió en el Allianz Arena a la Juventus de Turín. El que llamado a ser uno de los mejores partidos de la fecha terminó en un aburrido 0-0. Es el segundo empate consecutivo para Juventus en la copa.
En el partido que completaba este grupo, Girondins Bordeaux logró romper la defensa del Maccabi Haifa israelí hasta el minuto 83. Ciani cabeceó un corner y marcó el 1-0 definitivo.

GRUPO B

Se tuvo que ir arriba el Wolfsburg en el marcador con el cabezazo de Džeko al 56’, para que los red devils reaccionaran. El partido estaba cerrado hasta que llegó el gol visitante, entonces tres minutos después un tiro libre cobrado por Ryan Giggs se desvió en la barrera y el Manchester igualó el tanteador. A falta de 12 minutos para que finalizara el juego, después de varios pases en el área de Wolfsburg el balón llegó a Carrick, quien soltó un zapatazo que se clavó en el ángulo para sellar la victoria de Manchester United.
El partido de CSKA Moskva y Besiktas se jugó más temprano debido a la diferencia de horarios entre Moscú y las demás ciudades europeas. Los moscovitas ganaron 2-1 con los tantos de Dzagoev al 7’ y Krasić al 61’. El primer gol ruso fue un remate de fuera del área y el segundo una excelente jugada personal de Krasić que finalizó con un tiro raso y cruzado. El descuento cayó al 92’ por Ekrem Dağ con un balazo cerca del punto penal.

AC Milan sigue dando pena. Esta vez cayó en su casa ante el modesto FC Zürich por 0-1. El golazo de taquito de Tihinen al 10’ fue suficiente para los suizos. El AC Milan lo intentó de todas formas, pero esta vez ni Inzaghi fue capaz de vencer al arquero visitante.
El que sigue con su buen paso es el Real Madrid, los blancos golearon en la segunda parte al Olympique Marseille con dos goles de Cristiano Ronaldo y otro más de Kaka’.
El primer gol del portugués llegó al minuto 54 después de un trazo largo de Pepe, y Ronaldo con un toque raso batió al arquero. Al 60’ Diawara derribó a Cristiano en el área y el referí marcó penal y expulsión. Kaka’ anotó el penal al 61’. La cuenta la cerró Cristiano Ronaldo rematando en el área chica un pase de Benzema. los merengues son líderes del grupo con 6 puntos de 6.

GRUPO D

Otra vez un solitario gol de Anelka (18’) le da una victoria más al Chelsea, en su visita al APOEL Nicosia. Los blues encabezan el sector D con 6 puntos.
Porto espero hasta el segundo tiempo para vencer a un Atlético de Madrid que no la está pasando nada bien. Un gol de taquito de Falcao al 75’ y otro de Rolando cazando un rebote al minuto 82.

Let’s see…on Tuesday, Liverpool’s defense sucked once again in a 2-0 loss to Fiorentina. (Another thing that I just found out: it’s the first time Liverpool hasn’t scored in a Champions League game in two and a half years – yikes) In other group E action, Lyon smashed Debrecen, 4-0. In group F, Inter was lucky to play Russian champ Rubin Kazan to a 1-1 draw after going down to 10 men in the second half. Sevilla and Arsenal both went top of groups G and H, respectively.

There are several good matches on Wednesday, including Bayern hosting Juventus and Wolfsburg at Manchester United.  The winner of the Wolfsburg/United game will have an early edge to lead the group.

The 2009/10 version of UEFA Champions League football is here!  The group stage kicks off today with half the teams playing today and the other half playing Wednesday.  There are some solid matchups today, including Marseille vs. AC Milan. Milan has looked lackluster in Serie A so far this year, but perhaps a fresh start in a new competition will give them some life.  Manchester United has no easy task ahead of them either as they play Beşiktaş in what is proclaimed to be one of the loudest stadiums in the world.

Goles

Having the start of the UEFA Cup’s round of sixteen right after the conclusion of the Champions League round of sixteen is a little bit like listening to the bootleg copy of the awesome concert you just went to on the drive home: yeah, it’s still good, but there’s really something missing. I mean, I can understand not worrying about conflicting with other sports or other world events…but maybe trying to not conflict with other UEFA events would be a good idea. Hopefully this is a situation they’ll look to remedy with the Europa League next year, but I seriously doubt it comes up.

One nice thing about the UEFA Cup is that all the games are on the same day. For me that’s good, because I don’t have to pretend to be an expert on a team I know absolutely nothing about just because it accounts for 12.5% of the total column (admit it, you can’t name five starters for Panathinaikos without looking it up either).

Hamburg vs. Galatasaray

While this match is technically a German team against a Turkish team, in reality it’s a German team against a slightly less German team; seven of Galatasaray’s players hail from Germany. The parallels between these two teams (who’ve never played each other) don’t stop there; both are in fifth place in their respective leagues, and both are within striking distance of winning said leagues (Galatasaray are three points behind Turkish Süper Lig-leading Sivasspor; Hamburg are four points behind Hertha).

All of this underscores the real matchup: Ayhan Akman’s Head vs. Ayhan Akman’s Resolve. Akman is Galatasaray’s captain, and the last time he faced German competition was in the Euros this summer. Playing for Turkey, Akman collided with Simon Rolfes going for a header; gushing blood but not wanting to stay out of the game, Akman had his head stapled shut on the sidelines and missed maybe seven minutes of game play. Best soccer moment of last year for me.

Dynamo Kyiv vs. Metalist

For the first time ever in the UEFA Cup, two Ukrainian sides are facing off against each other. The Ukraine is actually heavily represented in the UEFA Cup this year, with both of these teams and league champions Shakhtar Donetsk still hanging around in the round of sixteen. The good news for Dynamo Kiev is that they’re sitting pretty high on top of the table with 49 points; the bad news is that one of their two losses was suffered at home to second place Metalist (38 points) earlier this season. Metalist similarly acquiesced at home to Dynamo Kyiv, though, which makes this a potentially interesting matchup.

In some ways, really, this matchup is everything the UEFA Cup should be (yes, I’m looking at you, Aston Villa). Both coaches are thrilled to still be involved in the competition, with Dynamo Kyiv beating Valencia and Metalist beating Sampdoria just to get here. It’s a chance for some international recognition from teams that aren’t normally heard of, and in a way it’s kind of a shame that this game will be next to impossible to find to watch anywhere.

History, incidentally, does not favor Metalist; since Ukraine’s independence in 1992, Dynamo Kyiv have won 27 of their 35 matches outright.

Manchester City vs. Aalborg BK

Man City came into this year’s UEFA Cup having never played against a Danish Superliga side.  Since then, they’ve played Midtjylland and København, beating both. Aalborg’s also coming into this game as only the second non-English team to ever play both Manchesters (City and United) in the same season.

In possibly related news, Aalborg’s never won a game against an English team in European competition, and coach Magnus Pehrsson has never faced an English team at all. So, you know…this will probably go poorly for the Danes.

Manchester City, of course, represents England’s only remaining hope in the UEFA Cup; Portsmouth was knocked out in the group stage, and both Aston Villa and Tottenham were knocked out in the round of thirty two.

This game will be televised on Fox Soccer Channel.

CSKA Moskva vs. Shakhtar Donetsk

This is a very blue-collar kind of match; CSKA Moskva is traditionally supported by the Russian military, while Shakhtar literally means “miner” in Ukrainian. It’s also a matchup of unbeatens; CSKA Moskva is undefeated in Europe, while Shakhtar’s won their last four and has only lost to Sporting Clube de Portugal this season (this includes a win over Barcelona at the Camp Nou in the Champions League group stage).

These teams used to play against each other way back in the days of the Soviet Union, but haven’t met since then. CSKA Moskva is winning the all-time series, having won 36, lost 22, and drawn 15…but that’s history that’s been established before most of these players were kicking a ball.

Paris Saint-Germain vs. SC Braga

Paris Saint-Germain are desperately trying to do something no team in France’s Ligue 1 have done since 2001: unseat Olympique Lyonnais as champions. They’re sitting only a point behind Lyon, and have actually won more games; Lyon’s ability to scrape a draw out of a bad performance instead of capitulating to the loss is all that’s keeping them ahead so far. You could forgive PSG for being a little distracted going into this match, though.

SC Braga aren’t enjoying similar success in Liga Sagres; they’re currently fourth in the table in Portugal. They did manage to amass more points in their third-place group finish (in a much more difficult group, to boot) than PSG…but that’s probably not an indicator of further success in the tournament. They advanced this far by beating out Standard Liege in the round of thirty-two (there have got to be better names for these rounds).

In international corporation inttrigue, I’d imagine that Emirates Airlines are desperately hoping for a Hamburg-PSG final for the UEFA Cup; both clubs (as well as, obviously, Arsenal) are sponsored by the Dubai conglomerate.

Werder Bremen vs. Saint-Etienne

You’d be forgiven for thinking that AC Milan would be the default winners of the UEFA Cup; that was a pretty widely held opinion prior to the round of thirty two. It was widely held by everyone except Werder Bremen, who knocked them out with the help and fantastic play of Brazilian midfielder Diego. Success in the UEFA Cup may be Bremen’s last chance at salvaging some silverware from the season; they’re currently sitting at tenth place, thirteen points out of fifth place, in the Bundesliga. They actually started out in the Champions League, managing to come a point shy of advancing to the round of sixteen and eliminating Milan’s other soccer super club.

Saint-Etienne is having an abyssmal Ligue 1 season; they’re currently sitting in seventeenth place in France’s top flight. They haven’t lost in European play since 1982…but that run only includes about twelve games. Les Verts also don’t have a particularly fantastic record against German clubs, winning only three of their fifteen games. I’m trying hard not to make a “France surrenders to Germany” joke, but sometimes they just write themselves, don’t they?

Udinese vs. Zenit St. Petersburg

Welcome to Serie A’s lone hope of European success this year. After Roma, Inter Milan, Juventus, and AC Milan all flattered to deceive internationally, it comes down to the eleventh-place team to salvage Italian football glory on the international stage. Fortunately for them, they’re coming into this game with several factors aligning just right: namely, they’ve only lost once in six games and are playing an out-of-season Russian team without one of their star playmakers (after Arshavin’s transfer to Arsenal). This run of form includes their earlier Russian opponent, Spartak Moskva, whom they beat 2-1 in the group stage.

Zenit are on the same run of European form (only losing one of six), but they’ve got the added albatross of having never won against an Italian team. They qualified for the UEFA Cup through the Champions League, where they were third in a group that included Juventus and Real Madrid. Their only win in the Champions League was over BATE Borisov, and if one were so inclined I’d imagine there’s a joke about head coach Dick Advocaat beating BATE somewhere in there.

Olympique de Marseille vs. Ajax

Simply put, Ajax owns Marseille in European competition. Or at least they have in the past; of the four games they’ve played, Ajax has won three and lost once, with the one loss not being enough to save Marseille (it was the return leg; Marseille won 2-1 after having previously lost 3-0). Of course, they met most recently in 1988, so whether that form really applies twenty years later is up for debate.

On current form, though, it’s not a much better story. Removing penalty shootouts from the equation, Marseille has only scored once in their last four European matches, against FC Twente; of course, two of those games were in the Champions League against Liverpool and Atletico Madrid, who were in a tight race for first in their group at the time. Ajax most recently slew Italian side Fiorentina in the round of thirty two (2-1 on aggregate).

- Cambiasso.

- Ja, men vad heter han på svenska?

- Ja, alltså, han heter Cambiasso. Jag minns inte hans förnamn nu.

- Men vad säger vi på svenska?

- Vi säger Cambiasso, precis som du heter Weman. Det heter Weman på alla språk. I Italien och i Argentina också. Och precis som Zlatan heter Ibrahimovic.

Normalt brukar han rusa runt och fäkta lite uppfodrande aggressivt med armarna när han gjort mål. Men inte denna gången. För det var speciellt. Jag satt kvar en stund i soffan och funderade på var jag senast hade sett ett så lyckligt leende efter ett mål, som det Zlatan visade upp efter sitt makalösa 4-2-mål i UEFA Champion’s League mot CSKA Moskva i går kväll.

Det tog en stund, men sen kom jag på svaret. Det var det saliga leende som min 7-årige son fyrade av när han gjorde sitt första mål i tävlingssammanhang, i pojklaget. Det var i somras och det var oförglömligt.

Det var den lyckliga känslan Zlatan visade upp på San Siro. Det var barnet i honom, det var pojkdrömmarna från Cronmans väg som exploderade i ryssarnas högra kryss. Efter matchen sa Zlatan att detta var ett av hans fem snyggaste mål. Jag tror det var mer än så. Det såg så ut.

Gerade war ich gegenüber und hab durchs Fenster der ausverkauften Halle die letzten Minuten des Spiels von Union Olimpija Ljubljana gegen CSKA Moskau verfolgt. Hat sich gelohnt … 74-72 Sieg … dank Milič, der paar Sekunden vor der Schlusssirene die Nerven behielt und das Spiel entschied.

Nur noch mal zum Verständnis. Basketball hat hier ungefähr den Stellenwert, den Fussball bei uns hat und Moskau ist einer der führenden Clubs in der Euroleague. (Deutscher Vertreter in der Liga ist Brose Baskets Bamberg.) Die haben sich hier gefreut als wären sie gerade Weltmeister geworden. Echt cool. Hör gerade noch die Leute hupen.
Klingt nach ner verheißungsvollen Saison .

Ich war auch nicht allein am Fenster. U.a. standen bzw. saßen da noch zwei Polizisten auf ihren Pferden
