The 90s. I miss it. A lot of good music came out in this decade, especially in the beginning of the decade. A lot of quality tracks in many different genres that still get the respect they deserve today when played for crowds, young and old. There is no doubt that there are some low quality tracks that are really cheesy, but for someone like me, they just bring back some great memories of being young. In the days when it was easy to have fun and not have to worry about money, health, or any of that adult mumbo jumbo.

This brings us to the theme of this mix. 90s club music, including house, dance-pop, eurodance, hip house, and more. As cheesy as some of this stuff is, especially to the teens of today, it was fucking great to us, just like the music of our predecessors was to them. None of the music was threatening or too sexual, just innocent lyrics about dancing and love that could only do a few things, make you happy, put a cheese on your face, and make you want to dance all night long.

$elling Out (Out $elling) i$ thi$ weekend$ mixtape. I came up with the platform for thi$ mix during my night$hift$ in the early $ummer month$. I thought it would be a good idea to have $ong$ that were “commercial” and have chopped/ma$hed/$pliced/de$troyed ver$ion$ of them all on a mixtape together and i al$o decided, that, ju$t to take away from the whole ma$h up feature i would throw in a few remixe$ of $ome other “commercial” $ong$ i like a$ well. I fir$t $tarted putting thi$ mix together in June, i let $ome friend$ hear a demo ver$ion of the mix at a pre-Union of Knive$ BBQ on the 25th of June….the night Michael Jack$on died……the mix went down rea$onably well but there were one or two element$ of it that i wa$n’t happy with $o i changed a few bit$ and bob$ and made the fini$hed article. It took me quite a while to get round to fini$hing the mix a$ a whole and there wa$ one $ong that no matter how much i altered i couldn’t fix the quality, $o i’ll apologi$e in advance for the bad $ound quality on the mp3 of the Metro $tation remix, it i$ noticeable, you can hear the $ound drop radically and it $ound$ really di$tant but thankfully it only la$t$ a few minute$ then the quality i$ back to normal for the re$t of the mix. Once again, plea$e accept my apologie$…i’ll make up for it with $omething $pecial.

Cateva repere importante din istoria Cerbului !

In martie 1968 la Teatrul Dramatic “Sica Alexandrescu” din Brasov debuteaza Festivalul International  de Muzica Usoara “Cerbul de Aur”.

22 de solisti din 28 de ţări au concurat atunci pentru cucerirea Trofeului, care a plecat în Belgia cu Jacques Hustin. Deşi abia la început, evenimentul muzical organizat de România a fost supranumit “Festivalul din est care arată ca în vest!”

Un an mai târziu, Trofeul “Cerbul de Aur” revine acasă odată cu câştigarea concursului de interpretare de către românca Luminiţa Dobrescu.

Difuzat pe întregul glob în anul 1970, festivalul devine tot mai cunoscut, iar căştigarea unui premiu în concurs este unul de palmares pentru orice solist. Nume celebre astăzi, precum Julio Iglesias sau Christina Aguilera, care domină topurile şi au mii de fani în întreaga lume, au cântat pe scena braşoveană la început de carieră.

Therese Steinmetz (Olanda) în 1970 şi Anne Louise Hanson (Suedia) în 1971, sunt câştigătorii ediţiilor desfăşurate până la întreruperea festivalului, în anul 1972.

i could really do with another summer of 1992. gcse exams finished early, by june i had three months in which to do exactly nothing.

so, i sunbathed, wandered around with my friends and watched mtv. a lot. having cable was still a novelty, and watching a channel broadcast from another continent was fun. the vjs spoke in broken english, the adverts were a long way from aquafresh and hovis.

i hold mtv europe squarely responsible for the success of acts such as culture beat and ace of base. there were other, weirder acts that didn’t quite penetrate the uk but existed for those of us hooked on this european wide window.

i loved how i could come in at midnight and stare at trippy ambient videos like x-mix the likes of which i had never seen before. i loved ray cokes

once mtv uk set up in camden, everything went sharply downhill.

Afro-Amerikaner mit großen Uhren um den Hals  buhlen mit abgehalfterten Rockstars um die Gunst halbnackter Weiber,  während fernsehgeschädigte Teenie-Kackbratzen in knappen Bikinis  in aller öffentlichkeit jemanden zum Pimpern suchen. Und das obwohl doch da drüben sowohl die Bikinis als auch das Pimpern als unzüchtig gelten.

Aber ich schweife ab. Es ging ja um YouPo… äh, YouTube. Genau. Musikvideos. Find ich persönlich beschissen. Wo soll ich mir denn jetzt die Hits der 90er reintun? Für so einen altbackenen Bockmist gebe ich doch kein Geld aus. Ich möchte als freier Mensch trotzdem weiterhin das Recht haben, mir jeden noch so sinnlosen Scheißdreck im Internet anschauen zu können. Also enteignet diese GEMA-Gierhälse, verstaatlicht die Musikindustrie, schmeißt das ganze Pack raus aber sorgt um Himmels willen dafür, dass das abgehängte Prekariat seine Hip-Hop-Videos wieder anschauen kann, sonst merken die noch, dass sie arbeitslos sind und randalieren hier rum.

i made my first trip to the ministry of sound that year and was almost perplexed by the alcohol free bar and bizarre location. a million miles from the clubs up and down the country who were rocking the hell out of ‘oh carolina’ and ‘mr vain’ and peddling test tube cocktails.
