Apple spot interno – EasyPay

Dear God…Please bless Noah Biorkman…

Please bless and watch over Noah and his family. Give them health, strength and peace. Let this holiday season be filled with love and joy and answered prayers.

Amen.

Does anyone remember the 1996 movie, “Dear God” starring Greg Kinnear?

In it, a cynical con man must take the only job he can get (in the dead letter department at the post office) as a condition of parole. While there, he finds out there is an entire bin of undeliverable dead letter mail, including dozens of “Dear God” letters. Some of it contains cash, jewelry and other goodies.

Although he initially intends to steal the unclaimed money and valuables from this undeliverable mail, he ends up having a change of heart and leads his colleagues in answering prayers found in the letters.

Most of the time when I receive an email request to send Christmas cards to a sick child or help find a missing child, I’m a bit cynical. I check it out first on Urban Legends or Snopes. About 90 percent of the time it’s either an urban legend or expired (e.g. the missing child was found 2 years ago).

So when my colleague Linda Gonzales sent a request to mail Christmas cards to Noah Biorkman, a young boy with neuroblastoma in Michigan, whose family planned to celebrate Christmas early this weekend, I checked it out first. To my pleasant surprise, it’s a legitimate request. There were links to the local radio station WYCD and Noah’s Care Pages. (The only hiccup was they already celebrated their family Christmas last weekend.)

Here’s the most recent posting from Noah’s mother on Care Pages:

Posted Nov 11, 2009

We received 80,000 pieces of mail on Monday alone! We even received mail today on Veteran’s Day! Yes, the Post Office is closed today, yet, we still got mail!

My garage is so full that we asking for everyone to please send all communications to Noah’s father’s house. Everything should go to the following:

Scott Biorkman
3480 Petoskey Way
Milford, Michigan 48380

Please post on all Facebook accounts the address change.

Merry Christmas!!

Posted Nov 9, 2009 12:23am

What a week! Scott and I have had a hard time wrapping our brain
around how much support and compassion we have received from people
all around the world!!! Noah was the 17th most googled topic on
Thursday and 12th on Friday!! Unbelievable!!!!!!!

Thank you to everyone for the support! Thank you to everyone that listened to my requests for peace…

So for the cost of a stamp and five minutes of your time to write a note, address the card and put on the stamp, you can be part of God’s love and a child’s Christmas miracle.

Dear God…

Please bless and watch over Noah and his family. Give them health, strength and peace. Let this holiday season be filled with love and joy and answered prayers.

To Military Personnel & Veterans, Your Country’s Free Citizens Say Thank You By Michelle C. Carr

To Military Personnel & Veterans, Your Country’s Free Citizens Say Thank You

By Michelle C. Carr-Crowe

Every year, as Veteran’s Day and Thanksgiving closely coincide, my heart goes out to those currently serving, and those who’ve served in the past. I, and your country’s free citizens, say, “THANK YOU.”

With the tragedy at Fort Hood, Texas, Veteran’s Day becomes more real and poignant. It’s easy to write a column or blog thanking veterans in general. It’s easy to put out the American flag in front of the house. Many agents like to decorate the houses in their farm areas with little flags in the yards.

However, in the past several years, I’ve formed a new, more meaningful tradition. On Veteran’s Day, I simply ask people around me if they’ve served in any of the U.S. Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marine Corp.) I ask agents, I ask grocery store clerks, I ask the people waiting in line with me at the post office—basically anyone God happens to lead into my path that day.

Whenever he or she says, “yes,” I shake that soldier’s hand, looking straight into their eyes, and speak a grateful, “Thank you and God bless you.”

Sometimes it turns out the person is a mother, father, sister, brother, wife, husband, daughter or son of a soldier. I do the same thing, only I ask them to also pass on my thanks to that loved one.

In addition to my brother and several cousins, in the first year I had enough courage to ask strangers this question, I discovered two of my teammates had served, as had two of my current clients.

I don’t really know whether my gesture meant anything to the people I spoke to or not. They might have thought I was a kook or a bit eccentric. Yet I felt better knowing I made a personal effort to reach out to those who put their lives on the line for me, my family, and the freedoms we enjoy as Americans.

In my opinion, a personal and heartfelt “thank you,” is a gift that anyone, even in this economy, can afford. And it’s a gift our servicemen and women deserve to receive.

Would this simple gesture have made a difference to Major Nidal Malik Hasan, the Army psychiatrist who killed thirteen people at Fort Hood? Who knows? We do know, based on statements from fellow soldiers and family members, he felt conflicted in his values, and unsure if serving in the military as a Muslim was “doing the right thing.” Maybe a gesture like this would have reassured him. Maybe it would have generated a conversation to clarify his values. Maybe it would have made no difference at all.

However, to the families of the thirteen people killed by him, I offer my condolences and sympathy with a heavy heart. And I reach out my hand, look them in the eyes, and say, “Thank you and God bless you.”

Independence is not enjoyed in old age homes where most seniors have to depend on someone for everything.
Saratoga Senior Salvation-A Tax Credit for Move-DOWN Saratoga Buyers By Michelle C. Carr-Crowe Lost

Saratoga Senior Salvation-A Tax Credit for Move-DOWN Saratoga Buyers

By Michelle C. Carr-Crowe

Lost in the hoopla about extending and expanding the “up to” $8,000 credit for new homebuyers is the credit for existing homeowners. In my opinion, this can be “Senior Salvation” – a tax credit for move-DOWN Saratoga buyers.

I called my broker, my local real estate board, the California Association of REALTORS®, and even the IRS to ask my question: does this credit apply for move-down buyers?

So far the answer is, “As long as they qualify and have a tax to apply the credit to, it looks like YES.”

To summarize:

A first time homebuyer is one that has not owned a home for at least three years.

A repeat homebuyer must have owned their current home for at least five consecutive years out of the last eight years.

The maximum purchase price for the new home is $800,000.

If single, your earning maximum to qualify is $125,000; if married, it’s up to $250,000.

There’s no gap between the prior deadline (November 30th) and the new credit period, which ends April 30th.

While you must be in a contract to purchase your new home on or before April 30th, you have until June 30th to close the transaction.

To prove you qualify, you’ll need to attach proof of purchase to your tax return (most likely a HUD-1 or final closing statement).

Caveat: please, please check with your tax professional and attorney before making any real estate commitments.

However, this may finally be a tax credit that helps seniors who’ve lived in their homes for more than five consecutive years of the past eight.

For example, a senior couple selling a 1.5 million dollar single family home in Saratoga Lynbrook they’ve owned for the past 10 years, then buying a single-level 3 bedroom condo in San Jose for $650,000 not only get to keep their $500,000 tax-free capital gains benefit and transfer their tax basis, they can also now use up to $6,500 as a tax credit.

Tax Credit and Unemployment Benefits Officially Extended & Expanded

By Michelle C. Carr-Crowe

The existing tax credit for first-time buyers, originally set to expire at the end of the month, has been extended, expanded and approved by the House, Senate and President Barack Obama.

The new measure benefits a larger group of potential home buyers. It allows both first-timers and existing homeowners to take advantage of thousands in the form of a tax credit. All properties must close by the end of April.

The measure would continue giving an $8,000 tax credit to first-time buyers. In addition, it provides a $6,500 tax break to qualified homeowners looking to move up to middle-market homes that cost no more than $800,000.

The legislation also significantly raises the qualifying income levels to $125,000 for individual income tax filers and to $225,000 for joint filers.

Finally, the bill would extend unemployment benefits 14 more weeks nationwide and 20 more weeks in California and other hard-hit states. That would give the long-term unemployed nearly two years’ worth of benefits.

Did you know there are at least 10 ways to make a difference in the world daily—even when you have no cash? It’s true, easy, and can be done in less than 10 minutes each day.

One is to simply smile, and be sure to give your smiles away. Everyone needs encouragement. Besides, it makes you look younger.

Two through seven are clicking various websites to donate support. The way it works is generous corporate sponsors, such as The Nature Conservatory, World Parks Organization, Mercy Corps and the Helen Keller Foundation, will donate resources for every daily click.

Two thru Seven are clicking daily to generate monetary support from generous corporate sponsors for important causes

Click to feed the homeless animals

Click here to feed the hungry children of the world

Help provide mammograms to needy women

Provide life-saving vitamins, prosthetics, surgery, disease testing and vaccines to children

Help save a portion of the rain forest

Help teach children to read and love books.

I love this program. I’ve been telling people to view and click these six “sister” sites since 2005.

Number eight is to pray for these needs, the people giving and receiving them.

Nine is to sincerely thank at least one person each day, whether it’s a family member, friend or stranger.

Number ten is easy – tell your friends! You can become a FaceBook fan of these sites, blog about them like I did, write a published newspaper article about them like I did, forward an email of this article, text message or simply call your friends. Like you, they’ll likely be grateful to know there are nine things they can do daily to make the world a better place.

Be sure to write these down, and make a commitment to repeat all nine steps daily.

YES! You can click these daily, but only once. J

Thanksgiving is a special holiday celebrated all over America by young and old people alike. The whole family gathers at the dinner table to enjoy each other’s company and indulge in the traditional holiday feast. Some seniors who live far away may not get that opportunity to spend Thanksgiving with their families as they may find it difficult to travel. But when they choose to make Chateau Cupertino their home, the end result is a whole lot different.

Chateau Cupertino based in Cupertino, California is not like any other old age home where a strict regime is followed. You can invite your family members to celebrate the holiday with you, in case you don’t feel like spending it all alone. You can engage in loving conversation and enjoy special meals prepared by the management. All you have to do is reserve place in the Family Dining Room and inform the management that your family is planning to visit you. So if you are planning to switch senior housing homes, choose Chateau Cupertino.
Whether you live in Cupertino, San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale or Los Altos, your property’s value benefits from being in the Fremont Union High School District (commonly referred to as “Cupertino Schools”).

Today, Measure G is on the ballot. Below is a synopsis of the proposal. Basically, it is an extension of the existing parcel tax at the same amount of $98, which is set to expire, as well as an annual adjustment for inflation. The measure exempts homeowners who are seniors and/or disabled. Please remember to exercise your right to vote today!

NOVEMBER 3, 2009: MEASURE G
To provide stable, local funds needed to protect teaching positions, and assure that Cupertino, Fremont, Homestead, Lynbrook, and Monta Vista High School students are prepared to successfully compete for college admission, shall the Fremont Union High School District replace its existing, expiring parcel tax with a tax at the same annual rate of $98 per parcel to be adjusted annually for inflation, with all funds benefitting local high schools, and offering an exemption to seniors and the disabled?

According to information for the 2007-2008 Fiscal Year from the California Dept of Education, following is some basic information on district funding dollars per student as compared to all of California as well as other nearby districts with high-performing academic scores.

Fremont Union High School District $9,255

Statewide Average for all High Schools $9,433

San Jose Unified $9,818
Los Gatos-Saratoga HS $11,264
Mountain View- Los Altos HS $12,699
Palo Alto Unified – $13,509

Boyfriend and I double dated with Brandee and Brian at Fatima restaurant in Cupertino! It is a Chinese Islamic restaurant and most dishes can be served with either beef, chicken or lamb. They also have an extensive seafood selection as well.

I had been instructed by my co-worker to order the sesame bread with scallions. It was definitely popular as we noticed practically every table near us with an order of it. The star of the dinner was definitely the homemade knife shaved noodles. To my dismay, I am in love with carbs and these noodles were perfectly thick and chewy. The thing I liked the most was that the noodles were not greasy. There is another Chinese restaurant in Mtn. View that I go to for their knife shaved noodles but those are greasier and heavier.

We all picked a dish to order. Brandee chose cashew chicken, Brian chose the noodles, Boyfriend chose shrimp with snow peas and I went with the dry fried string beans. This has become my signature dish to order at Chinese restaurants and I really liked them here a lot. They were very flavorful and not soggy.

The next time I go, I will most definitely get the noodles again! I’d also like to try one of the soups because every table near us also had soup or hot pot ordered.

Buying a home is something that needs to be planned and prepared for.

Buying a home is something that needs to be planned and prepared for.

A family may one day decide that they need to find themselves a new home. That is a major decision and one that needs to be taken with a great deal of thought. But taking a decision is just one step down a long road. Implementing it is a process that requires analysis, investigation and understanding. Miss out on any of these steps and you could lose out on buying the home of your dreams.

Analysis is essential so that you are able to evaluate the kind of home to buy.

Should it be a house for sale by owner or a new house for sale? Will your family be better off if you buy a condominium or should you look for a town house for sale? Once you are sure of what you need and can afford, you will have to start the investigation process to find the right locality for your family. Should you look at Sunnyvale, Milpitas, Cupertino, Mountain View, Silicon Valley or somewhere else? You will need to plan to stay in your new home for a long time, so you have to be sure of all these factors. And that brings us to the understanding issue. Collecting all the data you need to make a decision is one thing, but being able to make sense of it and using it to point you in the right direction is another. In fact, for most people, this is a task that is beyond their abilities. To successfully find the right home for sale requires experience and expertise.

Real estate solutions

That is why having the services of someone like Avi Urban, one of the most highly respected realtors of the San Francisco Peninsula & South Bay Area is so valuable. Mr. Urban has built his reputation not on just buying and selling houses, but on finding the right purchase and sale solutions for his clients. Before becoming a realtor, he bought and sold homes for his family and knows the concerns of the prospective home owner. Being able to deal with these concerns and resolve the issues is why so many satisfied home owners remain thankful to him. Unlike Many realtors, Mr. Urban does not tell you what is best for you; he discusses the various issues with you and works on your inputs. That is why he began conducting his real estate seminars – to help people understand the various issues involved in buying and selling property so that they will be able to interact with their brokers more effectively and so increase the chances of finding the right homes to live in. Those who wish to attend Mr. Urban’s free seminars, which are held regularly, may register for them on his website.

New Treats for Buyers-Congress Votes to Extend Higher Loan Limits Through 2010 by Michelle C. Carr-C

New Treats for Buyers-Congress Votes to Extend Higher Loan Limits Through 2010

by Michelle C. Carr-Crowe, ABR, ALHS, ASP, CDPE, RECS, SRES

By voting to extend the temporarily raised Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and FHA loan limits of $729,950 through 2010, Congress gave Buyers (and the U.S. economy which relies heavily on the housing industry) a great big treat. The present loan limits were set to expire at the end of 2009 and revert to previous lower limits of $417,000.

Now buyers are waiting expectantly for one more piece of good news-for the federal $8,000 tax credit to be extended in some form past the current expiration date of Nov. 30, 2009.

Due to extremely high costs of housing throughout Silicon Valley, especially West San Jose, Cupertino and Saratoga, as compared to the rest of the U.S. the good news is especially welcome.

The NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® thanked Congress for its speedy action.

“NAR commends both houses of Congress for their quick action in continuing these higher limits during a time for recovery in the housing market and national economy. The higher limits, along with the home buyer tax credit extension, are necessary to keep the markets moving at this critical time,” said NAR President Charles McMillan.

“Home sales have shown significant movement upwards in the past six months and reduced inventory in some segments of the housing market, but not in all. Home purchases in the middle-income and higher brackets have not moved much, and those markets must improve before we can experience a fully sustained housing recovery. These higher loan limits will help motivate qualified home buyers to purchase in those markets,” McMillan said.

The resolution would extend the present conventional loan limits for Fannie and Freddie through the 2010 calendar year at 125 percent of local median home sales prices, up to a maximum of $729,750 in high-cost areas. The floor for FHA is $271,050; the floor for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac conforming loan limits is $417,000.

The resolution now goes to President Obama, and he is expected to sign it today or Saturday to avoid a government shutdown.

The Best $2 Show I’ve Ever Seen-Cupertino’s Debut Choir Concert By Michelle C. Carr-Crow

The Best $2 Show I’ve Ever Seen-Cupertino’s Debut Choir Concert

By Michelle C. Carr-Crowe

When I was younger and low on cash and seeking inexpensive entertainment, I remember people suggested seeing high school games, musicals or performances as a reasonable option to higher-priced professional events. Current economic times are causing me and others to get back to basics and re-visit this money-saving habit.

So when my daughter invited me to see Cupertino High School’s Debut Choir Concert tonight, I said yes. I was even more thrilled once I heard the price!

Tonight I enjoyed a fabulous show featuring talent, poise and professionalism produced by the students at Cupertino High School-and it only cost $2! I have to compliment the students’ director Andrew Aron for his good-natured but firm and no-nonsense direction-to the audience to actually shut OFF their cell phones, behave appropriately (no “shout-outs”) and remove loud talkers from the auditorium.

Each of the four groups (Cantabile, Chorale, Cantos and Capella) performed a selection of classical, touching and at least one crowd-pleasing number. Cupertino High also boasts the only male choir in all of the Fremont High School District. Especially notable were Justin Li’s cello and guitar features and Cody Scott’s solo.

Cupertino High School Debut Choir Concert

Starting in Latin (“Music Spread Thy Voice Around” by Handel), bouncing through “Lydia, The Tattoed Lady,” hypnotizing with “The Seal Lullaby” and culminating with the Grand Chorus’ uplifting rendition of Moses Hogan’s, “I’ll Make a Difference,” the students demonstrated skill in technique, affection for their director and “the world’s greatest accompanist” Dr. Valerie Stark, and love of music. It was a celebration of joy in music.

Grand Finale of Cupertino High School Choir Concert

Next time you’re looking for reasonably-priced yet real entertainment, I recommend you look at your local middle and high school sports, band and music programs. You may be pleasantly surprised. As advertised, you could “see your students and friends in a new light.”
