I feel strongly about the classic male stereotype, particularly the negative ones. Having just seen Revolutionary Road I started thinking about Frank Wheeler, thinking about the hopeless emptiness of this sad man.

Frank Wheeler is the male stereotype that so many women meet and marry. Frank Wheeler is the man that so many women fear they will end up with. Frank Wheeler is so typical of so many men.

He is overwhelmed with fear but doesn’t see it like that. He fears that underneath there is truly nothing there (I know that because for years that was me, I was scared I would be found out, scared that the truth would come out).

He covers up that fear with concern for the children, promotion at work and a sense of responsibility for his wife. He pretends he wants to strike out for freedom, to go and find his passion, but he ends up like his mates and his colleagues. He settles for the ‘sensible’ option, a life of hard work and responsibility, such a male stereotype. He avoids the emotion but loses out on life.

Frank Wheeler is also scared of his wife, as so many men are. Not only does he not understand her, he doesn’t try to. He is afraid of her wildness and her unpredictability, he sees her as a stereotype of a nagging wife. Why can’t she be more like him, why doesn’t she make sense? Of course, she’s a woman and, like so many men, he doesn’t understand them let alone the female stereotype.

He gets caught up in her passion when they are young, but expects her to settle down when they get older, get a house and have children and that that is enough as it is for him. As the song says, “Why can’t a woman be more like a man?” In the end he just sees her as mad, needing a psychiatrist, and her death at the end just proves it to him.

Men, wake up and see your women for what they really are, passionate, wild, compelling, exotic, unpredictable, chaotic, loving and so in need of some strength and presence from their man.

You need to be a rock for her, strong and confident in yourself. You need to know yourself and you need to have conquered your fears. She needs to whirl around you and know you will still be there. She needs to have crazy ideas and know you won’t run away in fear. She doesn’t want you to control her or tell her what to do, but she wants you to understand her, even when she doesn’t understand herself. She wants you to know!

1. Start by loving yourself

This is not being selfish. If you are unable to love yourself you are unable to love someone else.

This is something men, particularly, have trouble with. They might respect themselves, think they’re absolutely amazing, but loving themselves, that’s a bit sissy.

No it’s not, it’s the basis of life and the basis of a balanced personality. Anyone has had a troubled relationship should look, first of all, to themselves, this is often where the trouble lies.

2. Tell her you love her

This means saying the words so she completely understands and is in no doubt about it. You love her. She needs you to say this all the time and she needs you to volunteer it, not say it in reply to her questioning.

The worst thing a man can say is, “You know I do.” She doesn’t, that’s why she’s asking… Duh…

3. Just love her for herself

Our women all have qualities we love in them, perhaps they’re smart, or sexy, or inspirational, or funny, or even rich. This is not why you love her, you love her just because of her, nothing else.

Your love is not conditional, it is not based on any special qualities. You love her.

Even though you celebrate everything that she is, even though you worship her for what she does in the world, she needs to know that you simply love her, no matter what. This is so crucial.

4. Live

Whilst a man in love is an emotional being he must not stop being the man he is. Your love should come from the power inside yourself, from your very soul. The love must be part of your power as a man and it must be part of how you live.

You must remain just who you are, you must be the man she met and fell in love with.

She finds excitement in your masculine strength, particularly when it laced with love. Don’t ever let her down.

5. Don’t live in the past

Life does not always treat us well and we certainly don’t always treat life well. Things go wrong and we mess up all the time. Strife in our loving relationship is something to let go of once it’s over, it’s something to let slip into the past.

We must learn the lessons and move on ensuring that we don’t go there again. But we must never dwell on the past and use it to either beat ourselves up or to judge our partner.

Move on and live, always, in the present.

6. Get to know her

How often do you hear men say, “My wife doesn’t understand me.” What they really mean is, “I don’t understand my wife.” This is basic in learning how to love a woman.

Love can only grow and deepen through understanding. You can never get to the point where you think you know everything about her, no woman is that simple. She is a complex person that even she doesn’t understand.

You need to love her and get to know her with patience and determination.

7. Count your blessings

That means the blessings you have together, the things you have achieved together , all that you are as a couple.

This should be a regular part of your life together. While I said, above, don’t live in the past, it’s ok to recount the great things in the past. This must be tempered with looking at the amazing things you are going to do in the future.

As a rule of thumb it is advisable to expect a future way beyond one that you can imagine. Expectations can lead to frustration if they limit you, expecting them to go way beyond is a good step into the future.

8. Give love, always

Love is about giving rather than receiving. Love is a creative force that grows out of the desire to give more than you receive.

Yes, it is crucial that you are able to receive the love that is offered to you otherwise it quickly dies, but you have to focus on the contribution you make to her.

‘Give and you shall receive’, but give without expecting anything in return.

9. Pay attention to her

Women need attention all the time. It is absolutely vital for all men, wanting to know how to love a woman, to understand this. Many of the annoying habits that women have are merely attempts to get the attention of a man who is not paying her any attention. Take heed of them and pay attention.

Men are focused and directed and can easily lose themselves in what they are doing. This is one of the qualities that many women love in their men, but not to the exclusion of them.

Men need to find a balance that shows how important their woman is to them without losing their passion for their mission.

10. Start afresh each day

“Start again as if it was the first day of the relationship. Welcome her into your world and look forward to your day together. Give her your love and tell her you love her. Do it again in a different way and repeat. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you where to go from here.”

This refreshing of your love will keep it alive and bring you closer to each other. Through this your love will deepen and become an essential part of everyday you spend together.

So what is love… really?

It’s an overwhelming emotion you have about another person, an emotion that you can’t truly explain but you can’t get rid of. It makes you want to be with that person, hold them, touch them, have sex with them. It shows itself as an exchange of energy, a polarity, that excites your soul. Love makes you feel great and totally transforms life. Love is worship of the other person, the woman who is divine for you. Love with the right woman is the power house behind our lives, it is the very reason to live. To bad so many of us realize it when its time to get off the stage.

Most certainly many of us students, no matter what high school they attended, ask the age old question,
“Why should I attend my class reunion?” It is a valid question, and I am sure if you expend a large allotment of time and mental effort, one could find a myriad of reasons not to make an appearance. Some of us will choose not to attend because we are concerned about appearances of all types..

We are not entirely the “same” people that took those final steps from those memorable halls years ago. Back then we were all fresh faces, some with dreams in hand and spirit, eager to stamp our own unique signature into this temporal world. Some of those dreams came to fruition. For others, dreams changed and evolved into a different and marvelous reality unfathomable as mere kids.

Whatever we have become, for the most part we are far better people than when we left the launching We are more articulate, expressive and more self assured of ourselves. We have the ability to fight through the insecurities of youth and peer pressure that limited the full potential that resided; chained deep within our psyches. For once we can reveal our true selves and in return uncover the ‘undiscovered country’ in our friend’s lives. We are more complete people.

It is a time of rediscovering why we were all friends and companions at one time , The fact that we have shared a common experience during a moment in time that was extremely blessed by God and directed by loved ones, is the social glue that beckons at the core of our souls to come home, one more time.

Since 50 Shades of Grey began dominating the charts and turning the ladies into quivering, sighing messes of goo, billionaires have become all the rage and every variation of rich, dominant men have populated the cyber shelves.

I’ve been writing about rich, privileged men for a while now, because it’s fun to fantasize about someone who can buy anything they want — including the woman of their desire — with the flick of their finger. Penny McDaniel had no idea that when she took the job as an accountant with the Buchanan brothers that the sexy billionaire entrepreneurs had a thing for curvy girls but when they make her an offer she can’t possibly refuse, she learns just how hot they are for her soft, sweet body. Soon, to her shocked delight, Penny discovers just how amazing it is to be bought by the billionaire brothers!

Penny sucked in a tight breath. This felt surreal. She surreptitiously pinched herself to make sure she wasn’t dreaming. Ouch. Nope. Not dreaming. Vince must’ve sensed her reluctant interest and pressed a little harder. “We are wealthy men. We would lavish you with anything you desired as long as you were our girl. And, to answer your next question, yes, you would belong to us both and there would be times when we’d expect you to accommodate us both at the same time.”

Penny’s eyes bugged. Both? How was that possible? It’s true she was a virgin but she had a basic grasp of the act…suddenly her eyes widened. “Do you mean…one in my mouth and one…” her cheeks bloomed with heat and her insides became slick and warm when Vince and Nolan shared a conspiratorial laugh. “Oh.” She nodded, desperately aroused at the very idea. She squirmed a little in her seat. “I see.”

“Or perhaps one in your sweet ass while the other takes your pussy,” Nolan suggested, almost conversationally. “I’ve been told that’s a particularly pleasurable way for a woman to enjoy two cocks.”

“Would you like that?” Vince asked, watching her keenly.

“I don’t know,” she answered truthfully, peeping at the brothers through her lashes. “I’ve never actually…well, what I mean to say is…I’ve never…no one has…”

Because Penny was actually considering their offer. “Let’s say I agree to this crazy idea…I would have terms as well,” she ventured, gauging their reactions.

“By all means,” Vince said. “A negotiation. Please continue.”

But that’s not what I’m writing about tonight. That’s all I had on the above subject and knew it wasn’t worth it, so I just piggybacked onto this about vegetable torture.

Let’s think for a moment about all the horrible things vegetables are exposed to on a daily basis. Every time you hear the word vegetable from now on, think of them as ground kittens. The life of a vegetable (ground kitten) in modern times is one of tumult, torture, and testicle-busting suckiness (had to get three ‘T words’ in a row. Testicle-busting was the best I could do.)

They’re yanked out of the ground or clipped from their trees, bushes, or vines, and placed immediately into dark cardboard boxes. Spanish is the first language they are exposed to, so they are confused by your English as you feel them up at the grocery store. Squeeze ‘em a little. Throw them back. But even getting thrown back is better than what happens to you if you’re selected. Most of the time your life is shortened quickly. Sometimes you end up rotting away, a slow and painful death, inside the produce drawer of the fridge. Some of their fellow inmates have left in body bags, their own bodies having liquefied into ghastly soup. Those who weren’t forgotten end up on the chopping block, usually losing a part of themselves to a sharp knife. Some are pulverized beyond recognition. Some are even julienned.

Then into the hot oven or skillet. But even that is not as bad as the pure evil emanating from the microwave. Those unfortunate enough to end up in the microwave have the most horrific death of all, especially if they’re rotating. Basically their brains begin to warp and right before they die, they’re all convinced that they’re David Hasselhoff.

You can stop this abuse by joining the PETP. People for the Ethical Treatment of Produce. I know some of you jokesters out there are going to say People who Eat Tasty Vegetables, or some such nonsense. Ha Ha. LOL. Very funny. If you’re a fourth grader. Go ahead. Make fun. Vegetables are being tortured around you every day and you obviously don’t give a rat’s ass. As a matter of fact, some of you have vegetables on your breath right now!

Hopefully very few of you will go rummaging around in the archives for my predictions from last year. In retrospect, I have to admit I erred in a few of my prognostications.

Here are some of my PREDICTIONS FROM LAST YEAR that did not turn out quite as I had predicted (Note to self: Make a note to upgrade to Crystal Ball Version 3.0 before next year):

You heard it here first: The ‘bromance’ film The Hangover 4 will nudge out Jack Ass 3D for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, and Mike Tyson will win Best Supporting Actor, for his portrayal of, well, Mike Tyson. Avatar2 will be a total commercial flop at the box office and be completely shut out come Oscar time.

Goldman Sachs, having earned record-breaking profits only two years after the financial meltdown it helped cause, will make amends to the nation and singlehandedly solve the nation’s debt crisis by offering to pay down the entire US federal debt – and still have enough left over to pay each of its executives their annual $1 million year-end bonus. (Well, I got the $1 million bonuses part right at least.)

President Obama will surprise his critics by selecting Stephen Colbert of Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report (right) to be the USA’s next ambassador to the United Nations. Colbert’s first U.N. resolution, a condemnation of North Korean ruler King Jong Il’s hairstyle (on human rights grounds), is unanimously adopted by the U.N. General Assembly.

In a period of unprecedented political bipartisanship, the leaders of both major political parties will sign a “peace accord” to end all their partisan bickering and name calling once and for all and will come together to sign the wildly popular healthcare reform bill.

After three years of trying to make sense of the phenomenon, the American public will finally figure out what the heck is the point of Twitter.

Sarah Palin, having had her 15 minutes of fame, will fade into obscurity and never be heard from again.

Okay, I admit it. 2011 was not one of my better years for prognosticating. Let’s face it, I probably won’t do any better for 2012. So this year, for a change, I thought I would gaze further into the future – 30 years out – to the year 2042. Why so far out, you ask? Because, according to my doctor, the odds are 7 to 2 that I won’t be around by then. So I really won’t care how far off the mark I was. Let’s get started.

The World: The war in Afghanistan, now in its 40th year, will show signs of winding down, due in part to the fact that there are only 167 people still living in Afghanistan.

Hopes for a permanent Israeli-Palestinian peace accord will rise when the Israeli Prime Minister extends an olive branch, offering to let Palestinians claim full control over Jerusalem as their undivided Capitol. Hopes will fade once more when it becomes clear he was referring to Jerusalem, Ohio.

Politics: The United States of America, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the People’s Republic of China since 2026, will elect its first non-human as president, when the Sony QRIO-400, Sony USA’s fourth generation robot with artificial intelligence exceeding that of any human being, will win the election. Sony QRIO-400 will narrowly defeat the 55-year-old former rock legend, Senator Gaga, from the state of Key West (the 53rd state), in the closest presidential election since New York Governor Alex Rodriguez narrowly edged out New Jersey Congresswoman Snooki in the 2028 election.

Mark Zuckerberg, Prime Minister of the breakaway Republic of Facebookistan, will announce a truce in his longstanding cyber war with the nation of Googleonia over the two nations’ longtime territorial dispute over the region formerly known as northern California.

The Economy: Thanks to new discoveries of massive oil and natural gas deposits in the Arizona region known as Texaco Cliffs (formerly known as Grand Canyon National Park), it will be another record-breaking year for oil companies. Those consumers who still drive gasoline-powered antique automobiles will benefit too, as the price of gasoline plummets to under $220 a gallon.

The employment situation will improve for the third year in a row, for robots and droids. For humans, unemployment remains flat at around 87%, thanks in part due to the fact that the only jobs currently available to humans are coffee drive-through barista, circus lion tamer and NFL cheer leader. No, wait. My bad. Just lion tamer and cheer leader. Sorry, people. The robots will have taken all the barista jobs too.

Science & Technology: 2042 will see the final demise of the Internet after decades of being plagued by viruses and slow performance. The last known Internet user – an 87-year old Inuit fisherman from Baffin Island, Canada – will pull the plug and throw his computer modem out onto the Arctic pack ice. (Correction: The Arctic pack ice will actually have disappeared permanently several years earlier, in 2026.)

The successor to the Internet, the Skin-Implanted Connectivity Chip (or SICC) will have been successfully implanted in more than 72% of humans, giving them instant 24/7 3D virtual connectivity anywhere in the world – except for a six- block section of downtown Manhattan, where reception is still rather spotty. Damn you AT&T !!!!

Transportation: New improvements in aviatic autoliners (otherwise known as flying cars) will take another step forward, now that the auto port re-fueling stations are finally open for business on the Moon (three years behind schedule). In a related story, Starbucks will announce plans to build 7,500 coffee bistros on the Moon by the year 2045.

Speaking of cars, China, the leader in auto manufacturing, will announce that the next generation of H2O-powered vehicles will get better fuel economy than previous water-fueled models. Leading the way, the new Hummer Hydrate, at an impressive 450 miles per gallon, which is easily re-fueled by means of Hummer’s patented custom-fitted garden hose (hose sold separately for $110,999). In a related story, BP will announce plans to purchase glacier-covered Greenland from Denmark, ensuring enough fuel to keep American motorists driving for at least 5 more years.

Travel & Leisure: Thanks to the long-awaited mass commercialization of time travel in 2037, time travel virtual vacations to exotic destinations will have become routine by now. Complications will emerge when 32,000 South Florida retirees travel back to the year 2000, change their butterfly ballot vote to Gore. Nice try, but Bush still wins the election the second time around.

Celebrity News: Lindsay Lohan will celebrate her 55th birthday this year by completing her latest rehab stint, proclaiming she has finally overcome her addiction to Diet Snapple Ice Tea. In her press conference leaving the Whitney Houston Clinic, Lohan hints that her next addiction will involve some type of breakfast cereal. My crystal ball’s hazy but it looks like it could be Captain Crunch.

The nation will mourn the shocking death of former President Mark Wahlberg in a fishing accident off the Pacific coast of Utah. President Wahlberg will probably best be remembered for his annual State of the Union addresses, in which he always delivered his speech without wearing a shirt. Mitt Romney running again for president again denies that Mitt Romney ever existed.

Health & Fitness: After a 15-year longitudinal study, scientists will conclude that a rigorous program of daily weight training, yoga, and aerobic activity poses serious health hazards to middle-aged people over the age of 110.

The Surgeon General will reveal what has long been suspected: A diet of low-fat, high fiber foods, low in sodium and sugar, poses dangerous health risks and recommends a diet rich in red meat, processed starch, and ice cream products. In a related story, the tobacco industry will cheer the results of new research from the American Medical & Tobacco Association that proves once and for all that a daily regimen of nicotine and carcinogens can add several years to your life.

Well, those are my predictions for 2042. Be sure to put a note in your 2041 virtual calendar to check back to this blog and see how well I did. In the remote chance in 2042, my body has become a hologram or has been stashed away in some deep freeze storage pod while scientists work on a way to bring people back to life, no worries. The options I found in the local department stores left a lot to be desired. There were big flowery skirts that no one likes or the sphanx knock-offs that suck you in until you cannot breathe. So basically my choices boiled down to ugly or unbearable. And for all of you men who are about to send this post into cyberspace with one click – not so fast!! These issues affect your wife, mother, sister and daughter. This tiny little blog could possibly keep you out of trouble when the dreaded annual bathing suit converation arises — and it will!

After this harrowing experience, and with a beach vacation rapidly approaching, I needed to find a bathing suit fast! So I thought to myself, there must be a better way to do this and I turned to my best resource

The first search phrase I entered was “finding a bathing suit” and I found at least 40 pins of the same cartoon expressing women’s frustration at finding a bathing suit that fits properly. Hallelujah! I am not alone. It was as if every woman felt the same way I did. I could just feel this pin going viral! But it was when I searched the phrase “I hate bathing suits” that I struck gold! There I found hundreds of pins on finding a bathing suit on pin boards called “Clothes I Like.” Perfectly Curvy,” “My Style,” “Lusciuous, Plus Size, Lady Fashion,” “Clothing Styles I Like,” “The Thick and Thin of It” and “Curve Appeal,” among others. There I found a whole world of gorgeous clothing for curvy women!

There were a number of online stores with swimsuits that were fashionable, flattering AND affordable! They can all be found on my pinboard here, but there was one store that I found to be especially helpful. This store does not simply sell bathing suits for curvy women, it actually helps you to determine your body type and clearly outlines the fashion dos and donts for each body type. The site even provides instructions on how and where to measure oneself (bust, waist, hips). Based on these measurements, you will fall into one of four categories: apple, hourglass, pear and busty. From there, you can decide which clothes work for you. I found this site in a roundabout way starting with Pinterest but it was not pinnable. You can find the store at http://www.evansusa.com. It would have been much simpler if I could have pinned this site back to my board. I can only hope for the day when the whole world will be pinnable….sigh.

Crystal Renn who became famous for her book “Hungry”,  as well as her curvaceous body, is no longer a curvy woman of size 16.  She is now a size 6 ( can be 8 or 10 depending on the designer).

At an event in New York, Renn looked unrecognizable as not only her weight changed, but her hair also changed from long wavy brunette to short platinum blond.

The model whose career bloomed only after she gained weight is said to be at a normal size, or “is in between the two” .

While many criticized Renn for her shrinking figure (especially after she exposed the Fashion industry that pushed her into anorexia in her book “Hungry”), the young model explained, “I feel pressure — probably more from any place — probably from the public and the media…I think that by placing a title on my head, which is ‘plus-size,’ and then the picture that these people have created in their mind about what plus-size actually is, I’ve basically failed you just with that. Because I couldn’t possibly live up to that, and at this point in my life, I would have to actually have another eating disorder to live up to that expectation.”

However, even though Renn has made hiking and yoga as part of her life, she says that she is not thin enough to be a traditional model.

Gary Dakin, her agent, mentioned to ABCnews.com that Renn is “Healthy and feels amazing right now.”

A Curvy Gorgeous Mariah!

We take a moment to digress from Style 101 for Men, to celebrate women. And not just any kind, the curvy variety.

We announce that curves on the ladies are indeed back. Healthy shapeliness in women’s fashion is finally taking a front seat after years of being relegated to the cupboard.

Although most men I know tend to prefer the voluptuous woman it’s fascinating to see how the fashion industry held on to the myth of the waif for so long, that they’ve spawned a generation of anorexic, unhappy and discontent women who literally kill themselves to look like Kate Moss.

The Hollywood fashionistas have finally given up. It’s too hard! From Mariah to Salma Hayek, Beyonce and Scarlett Johanssen, the new mode is curve, curves, curves!

It’s already known that curvaceous women live longer and that men find them more attractive but did you know that research has found that they are also cleverer?

Proof of Concept: Nigella Lawson, the hourglass shaped cooking presenter is an Oxford graduate. 
Tyra Banks, the curviest of the super model gang, is also the very savvy multimillionaire business genius behind Bankable Productions and the uber successful Next Top Model franchise. And then there’s the naturally curvy Oscar-winning actress Rachel Weisz, whose calls Cambridge her alma mater .

A study from the University of California at Santa Barbara and the University of Pittsburgh, concluded that women with lower waist-to-hip ratios (WHR) produced children with better intellectual abilities. It’s in the can baby! Hard core proof that men who all along went for women with hourglass figures, were thinking logically and strategically because the curvy girl was/is more intelligent and therefore able to produce more brainy kids than a waif-like woman. 



So go on gents, celebrate your lady’s curves. Infact tell her how beautiful they are and rest secure knowing your offspring (with her!) will be healthy, not so sure about wealthy, but definitely wise!

Looks sweet and romantic, right? Well, I actually don’t like the way they’re promoting the new show at all. Not that these people don’t deserve a shot at finding love, I’m sure they do. But I’m concerned more so by the way they describe these women. “Real“. So here is the breakdown in my head:

The antonym for Real=Fake
Woman with more curves/fuller=Real
Woman that are slimmer=Fake

So what exactly is it that makes them “real”? Their weight? And if that is the answer, does this mean that women who are slimmer and/or in shape are fake and superficial? That slimmer woman can’t/don’t encompass the same personality aspects as a fuller woman? It really sends the wrong message out and indirectly takes a stab at women who are slimmer. Granted, women with more curves have not really been included in these type of dating reality shows. They most definitely deserve that, and am excited that they are getting their chance. But why does it have to be promoted as “real women”? Can a “real woman” not be 120 pounds? And can a fuller woman not be a superficial bitch for that matter?

And to top things off, all these “real woman” are vying for a fuller man’s love and attention. Does that mean that fuller people always attracts fuller people? That a slimmer woman can’t fall in love with a heavier man? Or vice versa? Why does it have to be a common denominator? That is almost just like having a dating reality show just with Asian woman vying for an Asian man’s attention. There is nothing wrong with interracial dating, so there shouldn’t be anything wrong with inter-weight dating (or whatever you want to call it). It not only singles out the community of curvier people (not sure what the politically correct term would be, so I apologize if I offend anyone), but it also labels slimmer people as shallow, superficial, and unreal/fake. If they wanted to do the show right, they should of had a mixture of all different kinds of woman-all shapes and sizes and color.

Blame it on the current social problems course I took in college that prompted me to have a knack for catching these types of things. Or blame it me being cynical. Either way, this rubbed me the wrong way and still ticks me off every time I see it on TV. Two huge things wrong with that so-called sweet and romantic preview. Though I have a guilty pleasure for trashy television, this will be one I will not be tuning into. Think about the message you’re sending to people, Fox. Seriously.
