David Archuleta Fans as volunteers for Children’s Wish Society (CWS)

Do you love durians? Would you like to bless some children while eating all the durians you can?

Here’s an awesome opportunity presented!

We Ate For Charity II is a charity event organised by Children’s Wish Society of Malaysia to raise funds to “bring a smile back to the unfortunate children around us who are in pain and suffering from the illness that has afflicted them.

With a minimum donation of RM10 per person, you can participate in this event and enjoy the bounty of fruits the organizers will be bringing in to you. If you wish to have the collector’s item event t-shirt that’s going to be drawn by Reggie Lee, Malaysia’s famous caricaturist, a simple donation of RM20 or more will suffice. All proceeds from the collection will be channeled to the Children’s Wish Society.

Date:      July 5th, 2009 (Sunday)
Place:     Subang Parade
Time:     11 am to 7 p.m or until the the durians run out
Cost:       Minimum donation of RM10 per pax
Note:     The durians are expected to arrive at Noon.

This event came to our attention and we got in touch with CWS enquiring if the fans of David Archuleta can offer a helping hand on the day of the event.

Message from CWS:-

We are short of volunteers this year.  If you can organized a group of
10 to 20 volunteers from your group, it will help us tremendously.  As
the event is until evening, we need the volunteers to come in two shifts.
eg 10.00 am to 2.30 p.m and from 2.30 pm until the durians run out.

The tasks can be anything from crowd control, registration,
manning game stalls, unloading the durians, selling drinks, etc. and
having fun.

3. Your choice of colour – please indicate the “preferred colour” or “none”

You will notice that a set of the 6 different colours cost USD100 (ie USD16.67) which works out to be cheaper than purchasing a single colour (USD20).

If we are unable to co-ordinate the colour preferences, we will be purchasing them as single bracelets.

The actual cost will include the bracelet cost in USD, the shipping cost from US in USD (shared out) and the local postage in MYR - and it will depend on the currency exchange rate (currently 3.57) and total weight shipped out.

Michael Jackson – The Legend

Michael Jackson passed away at 5.21am Malaysian time after he was rushed to the UCLA Medical Centre when he collapsed at his home due to a cardiac arrest.

Just when I feel the last smidgen of exhilarating sports had exited with the Kobe’s manhandling the Magic, tennis, golf, hockey and a most surprising competitor raised the stakes. Game 7 for the Stanley Cup proved watchable. Drama filled the women’s French Open final, even if the men’s final was a snoozer. Some newbies and a relative old-timer (Hey Duval!) crashed the US Open and Bethpage Black. What else can I handle?? After all, it’s summer – the greatest lull in sports.

So today brings another tense chapter. This morning, Sharapova is eliminated in the first round of Wimbledon after showing so much promise in the French. And tonight, LSU pummels the Horns for in the deciding game to garner their sixth national title in a relatively short span. Dynasty material?

A five run 6th broke open the championship game of the 2009 College World Series in Omaha, as the LSU Tigers claimed their 6th CWS championship with a 11 – 4 victory over the Texas Longhorns at historic Rosenblatt Stadium.

The Tigers ended the third game of the series as they began the first game, with Mississippian Louis Coleman on the mound, but the game was never in doubt after the 6th.  In an inning which featured several Texas miscues, LSU sent 10 batters to the plate.

Two of the night’s stars were also members of the LSU football team, Jared Mitchell and Chad Jones.  Mitchell hit a line drive 3-run homer in the first, and scored the go-ahead run in the 6th inning.  Jones relieved starter Ranaudo with one out in the sixth and pitched to two batters, striking out both, along with a scoreless 7th  to keep the Longhorns at bay.

LSU has defeated Texas 7 – 6 in an exciting 11-inning shootout in Game 1 of the 2009 College World Series at historic Rosenblatt Stadium.

Texas took a 6-4 lead into the 9th inning, but was unable to close the game as LSU rallied for 2 runs to tie it up.

Texas managed five home-runs against Tiger starter Louis Coleman, but they were all solo blasts, allowing LSU to remain within striking distance.

LSU closer Matty Ott pitched three scoreless innings to get the victory.

Before tonight’s game, Texas had been 39 – 0 when leading after 8 innings.

Make that 39 – 1.
