If you’re over 21, you can now play slot machines based on two of your favorite shows, “American Idol” and “Sex and the City.”

Both slots were new releases at the 2009 Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas. In “American Idol,” slot players can trigger a bonus round that lets them become one of three judges — Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi or Randy Jackson — and then plays video clips of past contestants, good AND bad.

According to Sphere.com, Paula Abdul was the lone holdout participant even BEFORE she announced she was leaving the show. Innnteresting.

Meanwhile, the “Sex and the City” slot machines are subtitled “Change of a Dress.” Clever, no? They feature bonus rounds that include video clips of all four women plus Mr. Big.

International Game Technology spokeswoman Julie Brown told Sphere, “There’s shoes and purses and lots of bling and big bonuses and the music track, and it’s a very interactive game.”

Miranda es una abogada de prestigio que se lincenció en Harvard y actualmente trabaja en un buffet de abogados, en donde ha conseguido hacerse un hueco en un mundo mayoritariamente masculino. Una mujer de éxito, a pesar de ser vista por muchos como fría y sarcástica. De las cuatro consigue ser la primera en comprarse una vivienda en Manhattan: un lujo que puede permitirse gracias a su trabajo e instinto ahorrador. Es la mejor amiga de Carrie, la voz de su conciencia y la que siempre le da los consejos más sensatos. Su personaje ha tenido una gran evolución. Comenzó como una abogada con un rol un tanto masculino y poco a poco ha ido sufriendo un cambio muy favorecedor; siendo una mujer mucho más femenina  y coqueta. Además de esta alteración, su vida sufre una inesperada sorpresa: se queda embarazada de su antiguo novio Steve. Esto le planteará serias dudas en su papel de madre preocupándole la combinación de estas dos facetas de su nueva  vida.

Cynthia Elle Nixon, de cuarenta y tres años, cuenta con una gran trayectoria a sus espaldas y una gran profesionalidad. Sus inicios en el mundo del cine tienen su origen en su niñez. Consiguió hacerse  con una importante reputación que logró gracias al esfuerzo y trabajo que ponía en sus proyectos . Su primera actuación surge  a la edad de 12 años en su propia escuela, una función de teatro llamada “The Seven Wishes of a Rick Kid”, que fue emitido por la ABC en 1979. En ese mismo año ganó un premio en su debut en Broadway interpretando a “Dinah Lord” en el revival de “The Philadelphia Story”. Esta  representación la dio a conocer en los carteles y la hizo merecedora de un gran éxito. Ha podido alternar el cinecon el teatro al igual que otras muchas actrices, contando en su curriculum con intervenciones como: “Prince of the City”, “I am the Cheese”, “The Manhattan Project” y “The Murder of Mary Phagan, entre otros. A diferencia de sus compañeras, Cynthia, a pesar de haber pasado por la serie ‘Sex and the City’, no ha logrado el estrellato que han obtenido las demás. A nivel personal, estuvo unida durante quince años al fotógrafo Danny Mozes con quien tuvo dos hijos, pero dicha relación culminó en junio del 2003 y  pocos meses después se conoce la nueva pareja de Cynthia, en esta ocasión una mujer. Una noticia que tuvo una gran repercusión, llegando incluso a protagonizar portadas en todas las revistas. La nueva tendencia sexual de la actriz no ha supuesto ningún rechazo por parte del equipo, ni por parte de los millones de seguidoras con las que cuenta la serie.

Dal set di Sex and the City 2 continuano ad arrivare foto delle protagoniste in splendidi outfit. Quindi ho deciso di darvi un first look su ciò che ci aspetterà nel film..dal punto di vista dell’abbigliamento.

Partiamo dalla protagonista, ovvero Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker). Nella prima foto indossa un abito Halston Heritage abbinato ad una clutch Chanel e delle decoltè Chirstian Louboutin d’orate. Nella seconda foto indossa sempre un abito Halston Heritage e delle decoltè Christian Louboutin. Gli occhiali tondi ed un pò stile retrò sono Jee Vice.

Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) indossa invece un abito color senape abbinato a delle Trib Two YSL color carne. Bisogna dire che queste scarpe sono sempre più amate da star (vedi Victoria Beckham) e dalle attrici, che le indossano sui set. Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) sceglie invece un total look di Christian Dior, il tutto rigorosamente rosa.

Gay rumors in Hollywood are as old as the proverbial hills – from Cary Grant’s roommate to John Travolta’s apparent disregard for the conventions of the man hug. Any given week, Gawker’s blind item roundup includes at least one item about a closeted gay actor, and many of Lainey Gossip’s blind items address gay rumors (check out Cuba and Chocolate, Trailer Visits, and Two Boys in the City. And then there’s the one about the Flying Star.)

In light of this recent article in in the LA Weekly, and Nikke Finke’s response, we thought we’d take another look at gay rumors in Hollywood, some notable comings-out, and ask the questions: Do the rumors really matter? Is coming out career suicide? Or is America finally ready for its girls-next-door, action heroes, and/or certain well-known Scientologists to come out of the closet? (Hint: the lawyers don’t think so.)

Before we begin, we might take a step back and consider how rumor plays into the formation of star image. A few years back, I (Annie) published a piece in Jump Cut on Perez Hilton and celebrity gossip blogging. In addition to exploring the role of gossip blogging in the “new” game of star production, I considered how Hilton’s dissemination of rumor (especially concerning homosexuality) functioned: does speculating something about a star have the same weight as asserting it? Put differently, how do certain rumors potentially alter what that star signifies or “means”? A star may not, in fact, be gay – but how does hinting at homosexuality damage (or elevate) his/her image?

If gossip and rumors weren’t powerful, they wouldn’t be prosecutable. As multiple defamation and libel suits have claimed, associating someone’s “good name” with “bad behavior” may damage his/her potential as an earner. This argument was most forcefully articulated in Tom Cruise’s 2001 defamation suit against Chad Taylor, aka Kyle Bradford, who sold his story of a homosexual encounter with Cruise to a Spanish tabloid. Cruise’s lawyers claimed the following:

“Bradford’s defamatory remarks are of the kind calculated to cause Cruise harm in his profession and his ability to earn [...] Losing the respect and enthusiasm of a substantial segment of the movie-going public would cause Cruise very substantial sums. While the plaintiff believes in the right of others to follow their own sexual preference, vast numbers of public throughout the world do not share that view and believing that he had a homosexual affair and did so during his marriage, they will be less inclined to patronize Cruise’s films…” (Complaint is available in full at The Smoking Gun.)

Cruise and his lawyers thus construct rumor – and rumor of homosexuality in particular – as economically damaging. Cruise sued Bradford not only because Bradford’s story, according to Cruise, was not true – but also because even the implication that it might be true could damage Cruise’s career.

Perez Hilton and others have attacked this standpoint, arguing that it represents an antiquated and anachronistic understanding of society and its growing tolerance of homosexuality. Indeed, some celebrities are arguably more famous and successful after they come out of the closet than before: Ellen DeGeneres, Neil Patrick Harris. Additionally, some celebrities seem to be unaffected by admission or rumors of homosexuality – see the examples of Cynthia Nixon and Jake Gyllenhall.

Cynthia Nixon, most famous for her role as Miranda Hobbes on Sex and the City, was married to a man and raising children during the early part of the series (while her character, a ball-busting lawyer with short hair and tailored suits, was commonly mistaken for a lesbian).

Nixon began a relationship with a woman in 2003, which became public in 2004, shortly before the end of the series. Arguably, Nixon’s personal relationship has had no major impact on her career; Sex and the City: The Movie (2008) had the biggest recorded opening for a film starring all women, and Nixon has played both homosexual and heterosexual characters since the series ended. Nixon has said she felt more stigma revealing her battle with breast cancer than her homosexual relationship.

Jake Gyllenhaal made his name in the early part of this decade play brooding, sensitive (heterosexual) types in films like October Sky, Donnie Darko, The Good Girl, Moonlight Mile and Proof. In 2005, he won popular and critical acclaim playing a gay cowboy in Brokeback Mountain. He has been in serious relationships with actresses Kirsten Dunst and, recently, Reese Witherspoon.

At the same time, he is most famous for a role where he played a gay man, and he is strongly associated with E! Online columnist Ted Casablanca’s four-year-old blind item Toothy Tile, about a young, up-and-coming actor who pretends to be straight by maintaining high-profile relationships with women, but is secretly dating a man/men. There are entire blogs devoted to guessing the subject of this blind item – and Gyllenhaal is often the only, repeated guess. Yet, his star is also undoubtedly on the rise – he is up next in the eagerly-anticipated Brothers and the big-budget Prince of Persia, and appears weekly in tabloids with Reese Witherspoon and her children.

So why don’t revelations like Nixon’s, and the rumors like those surrounding Gyllenhaal, matter? Let’s look again at the underlying assumption of Cruise’s lawyers’ claims, namely, that insinuating gayness = defamation. That such an argument stood in court – and would most likely continue to stand – speaks loudly as to how far we haven’t come in terms of tolerance and acceptance. But it also implies that what’s really scandalous about ‘maybe gaybe’ rumors is not only the implication of homosexual sexual activity, but the revelation that a star has duped his/her public.

There’s an interesting tension here: the stars most fearful of gay rumors or scared to come out may be those with traditional (read: hetero) sex-symbol status, like male action stars or women who star in romantic comedies. This tension seems to have everything to do with the implicit contract negotiated between stars and fans, e.g., “I am what my image says I am.” When that contract is based on sex appeal (rather than talent or identification) and it is broken — usually through some sort of scandal, generally sexual — fans rebel, renege their fandom, or become generally disillusioned.

What’s at stake with ‘maybe gaybe,’ then, is not only the suggestion of “non-traditional” sexuality, but whether a star has duped or defrauded his/her public. Thus the reluctance of the anonymous celebrities and stars cited in the LA Weekly article: they’re scared not only of the massive task of renegotiating their images (even with the help of coming-out facilitator Howard Bragment), but of how such a renegotiation would compromise their relation to fans.

But let’s be clear: more than anything, these stars are scared. Scared of losing roles, of the new labor that would be required to establish themselves (and their lifestyles) as the type of ‘gay’ that’s palatable (think Ellen), of losing their livelihood altogether. And that fear is justified, as much as we’d like to believe it isn’t. For Neil Patrick Harris and Ellen are in many ways the exceptions that prove the rule: Americans have not yet demonstrated their willingness to financially endorse a homosexual actor in non-niche, non-television roles.

But who knows? Maybe a star could announce his or her homosexuality and continue to play diverse, entertaining, and profitable roles. Fact is, we don’t know how the public would react if one of our leading heartthrobs announced that he was gay – whether that be Cruise, Travolta, Will Smith, or Zac Efron – because no one ever has.

In other words, it’s one thing for a niche star like T.R. Knight or Neil Patrick Harris, or a new star like Adam Lambert, to announce or confirm his homosexuality. It’s quite another, as underlined above, to admit to inveigling your audience for years. Thus, it’s this fear of the unknown – of what could happen when that contract between star and fan is so brashly broken – that reinforces and sustains the culture of silence and secrecy in Hollywood.

So, does ‘maybe gaybe’ matter? Gossip theorists believe that talking about the lifestyles and personal choices of stars and celebrities is a way of talking through our own identities – in other words, we displace issues and anxieties that have bearing on our day-to-day lives onto the lives of those in the magazines, making it easier (and less threatening) to work through sensitive issues. While rumors of homosexuality are by no means novel, they have certainly become more salient, and, to a certain extent, more audible, as the internet facilitates both the proliferation of blind items and potentially incriminating photos and the speculation they generate.

Maybe we talk more now about ‘maybe gaybe’ stars because we talk more about gayness and its place in society in general. And while it’s still somewhat dismaying that public opinion and public action don’t always correlate – as evidenced in Tuesday’s election – we may nevertheless think of how stars, and rumors about them, open up space for discourse and potential, if plodding, social change.

Melissa: Yeah, I know, but God, why me??  I mean…a bus, a robbery, an accident…but Lyme Disease!?
Mickey: Hey, look, you’re not the one who HAS Lyme disease, right…?

Fifteen year old Scott (Rory Culkin) is having a difficult, confusing time in several areas.  His parents are clearly unhappy together, he gets bullied at school, and the girl, Adrianna (Roberts), he’s been friends with for years (and has a huge crush on) seems to be interested in some other guy.  When Scott’s brother, Jimmy (Kieran Culkin), visits while on leave from the military, even more family drama erupts.  Meanwhile, Adrianna’s parents, Charlie (Hutton) and Melissa (Nixon) are dealing with their own marital problems.  Charlie has Lyme disease and hasn’t been able to work or do much else.  Melissa can’t understand what’s wrong with him and is tired of carrying the family on her back.

This is one angry movie.  Everybody is either depressed, grumbling, or straight up yelling about something most of the time.  There’s fighting, lying, and arguments at every turn.  So much so that by the end of it I was just worn down by it all.

I guess I’d say most of the performances were good, but all that’s saying is that the actors effectively made me dislike them.  I liked the romance between Scott and Adrianna, but that was sprinkled in throughout constant scenes of turmoil.

And what does it all amount to?  What’s the point of the movie.  It’s called Lymelife, and yes there’s a character with Lyme disease, but that struggle isn’t the central point of the movie, and frankly I don’t really see the point of bringing it into a coming of age movie at all.  Maybe I’m too dense to understand the parallels being drawn between Charlie’s struggle with the disease and the struggles of the other characters in the film.  It all just didn’t mesh for me.

Having a friend who suffers from Lyme disease, I’ve heard plenty about the daily struggles, depression, misdiagnosis, etc., and the movie did an okay job of expressing that.  I just wish they hadn’t painted the character as being so pathetic.  Maybe, being set in the 70s, the disease was even less understood and acknowledged back then, so they were showing how frustrating and damaging it could be.  I’m not sure.  I just know that it added even more to the unpleasantness of the movie.

To sum up:  it looked good, was acted well, and was borderline unwatchable.  I think the scenes between the kids saved it.  Even if Emma Roberts’ acting ability tends to run hot and cold…

Keep an eye on those tick bites.

Like every other girl on the planet… I can’t wait for the next installment of SATC!!! First off, I’d like 2 say Kudos to the genius behind all the fabulous outfits, Patricia Fields. Everything from the clothes, to the hair, to the makeup takes us on a remarkable fashion journey, a good blend between extremely wild eccentric pieces yet quintessentially relevant.

The first movie was all about the “Studded belt”, who would have thought you could wear them and look cute and stylish. Fascinating how a simple piece can truly transform a look.  And of course the gorgeous wedding dresses. *sigh*

While the 2008’s “Sex and the City” took about 145 minutes to watch, it has been revealed that its sequel won’t be that long. In a recent interview with MTV, one of theromantic comedy stars, Kristin Davis, gave clues on the runtime of “Sex and the City 2” in addition to some other details.

Asked whether the second movieadaptation of the popular HBO series will be as “big” as the first movie in term of length, the Charlotte York depicter said, “Oh no. This one is not going to be that long. It’s like condensed soup.” When MTV reporter Josh Horowitz questioned if “every minute will be meaty”, she responded, “Yes! And different, and adventure and rich, and like, there’s music involved.”

“Sex and the City” star Kim Cattrall and Matthew Macfadyen, who played Mr. Darcy in the 2005 film version of “Pride and Prejudice,” are to star in the West End in a new production of Noel Coward’s 1930 comedy Private Lives.

It will begin performances Feb. 24, 2010, prior to an official opening March 3, for a run that is booking through May 1. Prior to the West End, it will preview at the out-of-town Theatre Royal in Bath, beginning performances Feb. 10 for a run to Feb. 20.

The production will be directed by Richard Eyre, and produced by Duncan C. Weldon, Theatre Royal Bath Productions and Sonia Friedman Productions.

In the play, which was last seen on Broadway in 2002 in the transfer of a West End production that starred Lindsay Duncan and Alan Rickman, Amanda and Elyot have been divorced from each other for five years. Now both are honeymooning with their new spouses in the South of France. When by chance they meet again across adjoining hotel balconies, their insatiable feelings for each other are immediately rekindled. Without a care for scandal, new partners or memories of what drove them apart in the first place, they hurl themselves headlong into love and lust.

The British-born Cattrall has previously appeared in the West End in productions of Whose Life Is It, Anyway? at the Comedy Theatre in 2005 and David Mamet’s The Cryptogram at the Donmar Warehouse in 2006. She is best known for playing Samantha Jones in the HBO TV series “Sex and the City” (for which she won a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award and five Emmy nominations) and the subsequent 2008 film version. She is currently filming “Sex and the City 2.” Other film roles include appearances in the forthcoming Roman Polanski political thriller “The Ghost” and “Meeting Monica Valour”, as well as “Porky’s,” “Police Academy,” “Bonfire of the Vanities,” “Star Trek VI,” John Carpenter’s cult classic “Big Trouble in Little China,” “Mannequin” and “The Tiger’s Tail.” She was also seen in the TV movie “My Boy Jack,” opposite Daniel Radcliffe. Richard Eyre was previously director of the National Theatre from 1988 to 1997. He is currently represented on Broadway by his co-direction of Mary Poppins, and he next directs Bizet’s Carmen at New York’s Metropolitan Opera House, beginning performances Dec. 31. He has won five Olivier Awards, four Evening Standard Awards, three Critics’ Circle Awards and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Directors Guild. His has also directed the films “The Ploughman’s Lunch,” “Iris,” “Stage Beauty” and “Notes on a Scandal.”

Sex and the City 2 shooting heads to Morocco

Sarah Jessica Parker, her six-year-old son James Wilke and the child’s nanny were photographed leaving her Greenwich Village townhouse on Monday afternoon en route to the airport for a flight to Morocco.  While the trip’s main purpose is to continue shooting the Sex and the Citysequel, it may have doubled as a birthday treat for James, who will turn seven on October 28.

Wouldn’t the newly redone La Mamounia – the 18th century palace of Moroccan Prince Moulay Mamoun and a film location for Alfred Hitchcock’s The Man Who Knew Too Much – provide an excellent venue for his birthday celebration?

Parker’s actor-husband Matthew Broderick, the couple’s twin daughters, Marion and Tabitha (born four months ago with the help of a surrogate) and quite likely another nanny or two have presumably remained at home in New York City.  It appears shooting in “the City” where this entertainment franchise is primarily set wrapped last week with highly publicized scenes in which Penelope Cruz, Liza Minnelli and Mylie Cyrus are reported to make appearances.  Us magazine provides a quick clip of some of the movie’s New York City filming in the video at the end of this article.

According to Life & Style magazine, the Moroccan scenes will be shot in the cities of Erfoud, Rabat and Marrakech.  The film’s style guru, Patricia Field, told People magazine, “[We're shooting] there for about six weeks.  You’ll probably see belly dancers and Bedouins!”  The Moroccan film location was decided upon after Dubai officials denied the production access to shoot there, fearing the resulting movie would be too racy for Middle Eastern standards and would reflect poorly on the country.

Calling all “Sex and the City” fans! You’ve seen their 80’s pics with their long pearls, big tutus, and huge hair leaving you in question, but look no further, we have some details!

According to PEOPLE, “style guru” Patricia Field gives some info on the anticipated “Sex and the city 2.” “It was in the beginning of the movie,” Field explained. “Carrie was waiting to meet her girlfriends and she was thinking about when she first moved to New York in the ’80s and how she met Samantha and Charlotte. They’re all, in real time, meeting to go shopping. And in her flashback time, she is thinking of when she first met each one of them.”

Field also says Miley Cyrus is definitely in the movie.  “Cyrus recently filmed a scene with Kim Cattrall, where the two ostensibly showed up to a movie premiere in matching outfits.”

Also, the cast is broadening out their locations. The first “Sex and the City” movie they were in Mexico and the next film they’ll be shooting some parts in Morocco.

The film will also have guest appearances by Liza Minnelli and Penelope Cruz.

So there you have it!

“Sex and the City 2″ is said to be released in 2010.

Hilary Duff is in the city to film her latest flick “In the Business of Falling in Love” – and falling she is!

The star took a (staged) tumble in the middle of a busy crosswalk Wednesday for the romantic comedy, which has a plot very similar to the “Sex and the City” series, according to the UK’s Daily Mail.

Duff plays a young fashionable magazine columnist who writes about her dating struggles in the city (hello, Carrie Bradshaw).

Though Duff’s character ends up going undercover to snag a rich banker, her flashy handbags, sexy dresses, and sky-high stilettos scream “SATC,” according to the Daily Mail.

But the movie isn’t the only thing keeping the 22-year-old busy.

She recently joined the cast of “Gossip Girl” to play Olivia Burke, a young celebrity looking for a normal educational experience.

“Everyone’s been really, really gracious to me and sweet to me,’” she told People.com. “They called me and said come and do a few episodes. I jumped at the chance.”

Because I am such a massive fan of Sex and the City (SATC) and have seen all of the episodes loads and loads of times. Along with the movie, and with the build up to the second movie in full swing because of all the on-set pictures. I decided that I am going to revisit every episode thanks to my DVD collection which just happens to be in a small shoe box . . . yes I have the full lot all in one box. So I am going to review each episode . . . This could take a while or it could not take too long at all. So  . . . watch this space . . .

Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda are going to be watched and enjoyed yet again, along with their many men over the seasons and years and of course Mr. Big.

I will be putting in my views on the main issues in each episode.

…e a melhor coisa desse filme?

PS1: Para mim, a Charlotte é a personagem mais autêntica e decidida, pois desde o início, e estou falando desde os tempos do seriado, ela soube e correu atrás do que queria.

PS2: A Carrie atingiu o auge da chatice nesse filme, mas são dela três boas frases:

a) Some love stories aren’t epic novels.  Some are short stories but that doesn’t make them any less filled with love.

b) Maybe some labels are best left in a closet.  Maybe when we label people – bride, groom, husband, wife, married single – we forget to look past the label to the person.

c) You can’t stop being who you are because you’re afraid.

What a crazy night! The blistering winds of New York City have arrived! I stood from 6pm to about 1:00am but I wanted to get some great footage for all you fans!

I has interviewed by a national German news station (RTL)  -who were amazing!  We shot a few different things throughout the night –chatting about the gossip on the set, to what was going on behind us.

I  happened to see some stars and there were MANY MANY MANY fans there just for Miley –including small children!  The crowds were insane and the NYPD was quickly called.

Instead of me writing- it’s easier for you to watch!

Were you there? I couldn’t be in D.C. in person last Sunday, but I watched on C-SPAN and tweeted with #NEM as high profile movie stars, musicians, writers, activists and other leaders followed one another in rapid succession with their powerful voices for ALL civil rights. Lady Gaga, Judy Shepherd, Julian Bond, Cynthia Nixon, Kate Clinton, Stacyann Chin, Billie Myers, Michelle Clunie, Dan Choi, Cleve Jones, Lance Black – the list seemed endless. It was a long afternoon, but since I tuned in late I hung out till the very end. Here are some of the lines I found most moving:

Michelle Clunie: “This is no longer a gay rights movement – this is a civil rights movement.”

Staceyann Chin: “Every right for every resident!”

Angela Green: “We either educate our children, or we bury our children.”

Cleve Jones: “There’s no such thing as a fraction of equality.”  “You must promise to go home and do the work that is necessary. It won’t be as exciting as this march.”

Dan Choi: “Patience is not a plan. Silence is not a strategy”

Julian Bond: “We have a lot of real and serious problems in this country, and same-sex marriage is not one of them.”  “No people of good will should oppose marriage equality.” “Rights for Gays and Lesbians aren’t special rights … It isn’t special to be free from discrimination.”

I saw a great tee-shirt: “Homophobia – now THAT’s a choice!”

And there were some pretty good tweets:  “Iwomoto: Instead of asking is sexuality nurture vs. nature – ask is bigotry biological?” (via @rodmccullom). “Inter-racial couple holding sign @ National Equality March in DC today saying ‘our marriage was once illegal too.’ That says it all” (via @sourbear).  “If you hear the word LOVERS and all you can think of is a MAN and a WOMAN, then you have straight privilege” (via @blogdiva)

Probably it was Judy Shepherd who moved me most, in spite of being brief. My son came out to us as gay barely a month before the death of Judy’s son in 1998. I was terrified then and I am still terrified by the hate that rages in the hearts of too many Americans. Here are her words:  “When you leave here today, don’t forget, the work is being done by you. The President CANNOT do it alone.”
