All this gift-guide/ gift-giving / thinking about other people stuff, has really got me thinking about myself and my love for fashion. I never said I wasn’t selfish! Here’s a little  interlude brought to you by Kimberly Ovitz (xox the Brown connection). Her collection is great and any one of her pieces would make a great gift gift! More about Kimberly:

Kimberly Ovitz has quickly made her mark in the fashion industry since launching her eponymous label in Spring 2009. KIMBERLY OVITZ is a lifestyle collection for women consisting of timeless minimalist pieces with a modern edge. The collection, which embodies Kimberly’s personal style, was inspired by two core influences in her life – the minimalist art and design she was exposed to while growing up and equestrian lifestyle. So in case you haven’t heard, aside from the over-the-knee boot, the biggest shoe for fall/winter is actually a shoe-boot hybrid.  Welcome, the shoetie!  These are destined to be classics and we will see them for seasons to come.  The shoetie works with almost any outfit you throw at it.  Great with pants, denim to trousers, it has you covered.  Cute with skirts and dresses (don’t forget your tights! another big trend this fall), the shoetie is totally appropriate for the office and with enough “go-get-em” to stand out for date night afterward.  It’s slightly more substantial than your average heel but with a lot more visual interest than a basic boot.

This is our new friend, Denise.  She comes from Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent and has a lot of dramatic styling.  Starting with a fun peep-toe and the lace-up front which is another important detail in shoes this fall, Denise extends the drama to open side detailing featuring decorative lacing. (Remember the whole caging/cut-out trend? This is clearly echoing that feeling.) Denise wraps things up with a zipper up the back of the heel.  This is a killer shoe: architectural, well-made, interesting details, accessible height, and fun, fun, fun.

Also, from Cynthia Vincent is the party heel to end all party heels.  This one is incredibly hot and really nails the caged heel thing. You will absolutely turn heads in this shoe.  And it’s comfortable enough that you’ll actually look forward to wearing it again and again.  The holiday party season is just around the corner, make sure you have something that will POP!

Received another A-M-A-Z-I-N-G delivery from Cynthia Vincent.  Talk about special pieces; these are show-stoppers and again, it’s all in the details.  First, pictured above, is this stunning dress.  Unassuming from the front, this stretch rayon number is clean and simple, but with an incredible back.   This drapes at just the right places, hitting at the small of your back.  Plus, with an ingenious swath of almost tribal metal beads across the back, you can actually wear a bra with this one- making it fabulous and functional.   Another detail-rich piece from Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent are these silk charmeuse camisoles in black and ivory.  They feature light, delicate ruffles at the scoop of the neck, perfect for peaking out of a deep v-neck sweater or cardigan but substantial enough to wear on their own.  A nice lady-like detail on a basic staple of every woman’s closet.

Details don’t end with your clothes, for Cynthia Vincent they also extend to your shoes and purses.  I’ve written of the great texture in Cynthia’s shoe/handbag collection before but I need to reiterate: it’s all pretty fly.  For instance, take this dark purple cross-body messenger bag in croc-stamped leather.  The luster of the leather is undeniable and the stamped pattern is at once subtle and luxurious.  An everyday piece of luxury? Yes, please.

Autumn gets ushered in with greens turning golden and bronze, a slight nip in the air near dawn and dusk, and boots!!!  There is no better way to mark the changing of the seasons, at least sartorially, than with a killer pair of boots.  Make ‘em ankle booties, cowboy, over-the-knee, or slouched- boots announce the coming of colder weather, and the need to bundle up.  This season at Veridis we have a couple beauties to share with you.
