<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>ATI seems to be on the right track with their HD5xxx series, since their cards become just faster and faster and there’s no stopping them. A few days ago, their latest crop – the Radeon HD5970 – made its way to the retail stores and awaits you there with a pricetag of $600.</p>

<p><!--more-->The HD5970 has two separate Cypress cores with 1GB GDDR5 memory each. The engine clock goes up to 725 MHz (the HD5870 one is 850 MHz), while memory runs at 1000 MHz. And it has full hardware support for DirectX 11.</p>
<p>Looking at the specs table made by tomshardware.com you can see that the new HD5970 is exactly twice the HD5850 was (even price-wise). But prepare for a huge power drown – at full throttle the HD5970 uses 300W and combined with the board power reaches a bit under 400W. If you want Crossfire with two of these 1 kW power supply is the minimum requirement for you… plus a bag full of cash.</p>

<p>In most of the benchmark tests made by tomshardware.com, the HD5970 show almost similar performance with a Crossfire configuration of 2x HD5870 and outperforms all NVIDIA contenders.</p>

<p>How I did not notice it sooner is a mystery to me, especially since there is good reason to take note. There&#8217;s no <a title="Sephora" href="http://sephora.com/" target="_blank">Sephora</a> in Boulder yet, so Cypress fulfills an important need: specifically, the &#8220;my-skin-is-starting-to-feel-and-look-like-a-crocodile-now-that-it-is-winter-in-Colorado-can-you-please-help-me-brighten-it-up&#8221; need.</p>
<p>They stock top makeup brands like Smashbox and Cargo, as well as high-end skincare products like Dr. Brandt&#8217;s and Skinceuticals. And unlike Sephora, they actually have&#8230;sales! Woo hoo! Today they had 20% several entire product lines and the (very friendly) staff let us know that facials (they also have skin spa services) were on special today for $49.</p>
<p>I foresee a fun girls&#8217; day out ahead: Stop next door at <a title="Lindsay's Boulder Deli" href="http://www.lindsaysboulderdeli.com/" target="_blank">Lindsay&#8217;s</a> for some Häagen Dazs pralines and cream, then head over for a facial and makeover at Cypress.</p>

<title><![CDATA[HD 5970, szalone połączenie dwóch kart.]]></title>

<p>I o to mamy kolejną dwurdzeniową kartę graficznę od ATI.  Po jeszcze nie tak dawnym debiucie Radeonów HD 5850 i 5870 na świat przychodzi kolejne &#8220;dziecko&#8221; Radeona, czyli HD 5970. No właśnie skąd się wzięło w nazwie te 59 ? Karta ATI nie jest typowym 5870 x2, ani 5850 x2.  Inżynierowie zaprojektowali kartę z GPU HD 5870 oraz taktowaniami HD 5850. Hmm&#8230; posunięcie bardzo podobne do tego co zrobiła Nvidia. Tworząc swoje monstrum, czyli GTX-a 295. Kanapka dwóch GTX 285 z taktowaniami GTX 260.  Wraz z debiutem HD 5970 to właśnie ta karta może się poszczycić mianem karty najwydajniejszej. Pytanie tylko jak długa będzie trwała jej dominacja&#8230;</p>

<p>Hemlock (ang. choina) został wyposażony w tak samo jak HD 5870 w 1600 jednostek SP, 32 ROP-y i 80 TMU. Oczywiście karta jest wyposażona w dwa rdzenie, dlatego te wartości musimy mnożyć razy dwa. Karta na pierwszy rzut oka powala. Jej rozmiary są iście olbrzymie, a wykonanie perfekcyjne.  Rozłożenie elementów jest przemyślane w niesamowity sposób. Można by się tak długo zachwycać nad pięknem jej kondensatorów, rezystorów i innych elementów, ale jedno trzeba przyznać inżynierom należą się owacje na stojąco. Kolejnym atutem jest programowa zmiana napięcia GPU i RAM to też na pewno gratka dla osób chcących diabelsko podkręcić swoją kartę.  Drugą sprawą jeśli chodzi o nowego Radeona i jego wykonanie to układ chłodzenia. Na śledziu zamontowano wyloty powietrza, a całą kartę schładza ogromny radiator i umieszczony po prawej strony karty wentylator ATI.</p>
<p>Karta po pierwszych testach wypada bardzo dobrze. Po podkręceniu wyprzedza SLI z GTX-ów 295 ! To jest szok. Dzięki OC HD 5970 dostajemy 20-sto % zysk wydajności za darmo. Wydajność takiej karty wystarczy nam na kilka lat dodatkowo na wysokich rozdzielczościach. Niestety przypadłością kart dwurdzeniowych są mikroprzycięcia. Wg. wielu testów HD 5970 nie jest kartą z którą pozbędziemy się tego typu zjawiska.  Na szczęście wydajność karty wyklucza problemy nawet przy wysokich rozdzielczościach. Ciekawą sprawą jest jakość generowanego hałasu oraz temp. karty. Karta w przeciwieństwie do Cypress-ów generuje spory hałas. W wielu testach przekraczał on 55 db w stresie. Są to wartości naprawdę duże i mogą odstraszyć potencjalnych cicho-wielbicieli. Temp. karty myślę, że nie zaskoczyły. Karta nagrzewa się po podniesionych napięciach do 90 C. Oczywiście wentylator wtedy znacznie przyspiesza swoją pracę.</p>
<p>Ostatnią sprawą, którą poruszę w tym artykule będzie pobór mocy Hemlocka. Karta mimo 40 nm konstrukcji wcale nie zachwyca w tej materii. Pobór mocy całego zestawu z HD 5970 kształtuje się na poziomie 390 W. Mimo 40 nm jest nie wiele mniej oszczędny od GTX-a 295, który pobiera na 55 nm GPU 420 W.  Wiadomo, że ten co ma sprzęt za kilka tysięcy nie będzie patrzył ile mu karta pobiera mocy, a szkoda ponoć mieliśmy pomagać ekologii&#8230;</p>
<p><strong>Czas na podsumowanie. </strong></p>
<p><em>Radeon HD 5970 od listopada 2009 może się szczycić mianem najwydajniejszej karty graficznej na rynku. Czy wprowadził coś nowego ? Niestety, ale nie dla zwykłego użytkownika jest to kolejny behemot rzucony dla najbogatszej loży odbiorców. Karta dodatkowo była na siłę uciskana pod poziom 300 W w TDP co przyczyniło się do ograniczenia taktów z HD 5850. Również jeśli chodzi o mikroprzycięcia i generowany hałas sprawa nie wygląda najlepiej. Na szczęście na te wszystkie problemy zasłonę kładzie wydajność i Bogu dzięki ! </em></p>

<p>With the holiday season fast approaching, some parents are wondering, <em>&#8220;Should I buy my kid a camera for Christmas?&#8221;</em> While it&#8217;s ridiculous for one person to tell another what they should or shouldn&#8217;t do for their child, (although it&#8217;s done all the time,) I am going to tackle this question by answering it with my experience.</p>
<p>I have three children:  a 12, 9 and 5-year-old, and they all have access to cameras.  They all love them.  They don&#8217;t have a <a href="http://digital-photography-school.com/how-to-buy-a-dslr-camera">DSLR</a> like mine; theirs are mere <a title="point and shoot" href="http://www.digitalcamera-hq.com/digital-cameras/point-and-shoot_ratings.html" target="_blank">point and shoots</a>.  I share the Lumix with my oldest.  The middle one has a hundred dollar something, we bought last Christmas.  And the little bittle has a pre-school type camera, a$50 something and my iPhone.  (Sometimes when I&#8217;m busy working, I lend my phone to keep her occupied.)</p>
<p>The decision to purchase a camera is kind of a big one.  <em>Do you really want to spend all that money on something that could get lost or broken?</em> They are kids after all.  Kids lose and break things.  But then I weighed something else&#8230; photography is something we ALL can do together.  There are so few things in this world that whole families can equally participate in and enjoy.  We can&#8217;t competitively play sports together.  We usually can&#8217;t find a movie that we all like to watch together.  But photography&#8230; we ALL can go out and shoot.</p>
<p>Of course, their images don&#8217;t turn out like my images&#8230; I&#8217;m a pro.  But interestingly enough, I love looking at my children&#8217;s images.  It&#8217;s great fun to see what they find worthy of shooting.  For instance, the girls have a million pictures of our dog.  My son, the eldest, shot a picture of a Copperhead snake on our recent vacation in the Smoky Mountains.  (He also warned the nearby tourist of its presence, saving them from nearly stepping on it.)</p>
<p>I love their kids eye view perspective.  The shots from the ground up to mommy, or the shots of their feet dangling over the car seat are absolutely precious.</p>
<p>Photography teaches you to see the world around you with new eyes.  It forces you to stop and look&#8230; something that perhaps in our modern world of hustle and bustle, we don&#8217;t do enough of.  So whether you purchase a camera for your kids or not, well that&#8217;s up to you.  Only you as a parent can ultimately decide what is right for your family.  But from my experience, it was a good choice, and continues to be a good choice.</p>

Elizabeth Lambert granted an interview to The New York Times in which she <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/18/sports/soccer/18soccer.html?_r=2&#38;hp">apologized for her various violent actions against BYU opponents</a>, which included hair pulling, punching, elbowing and kicking. <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JC-pF3OHY1c">The clip</a>, which was featured on news programs nationwide and viewed over six million times on YouTube, turned Lambert into a national villain. But she says it&#8217;s all a misunderstanding:</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I look at it and I&#8217;m like, &#8216;That is not me,&#8217;. I have so much regret. I can&#8217;t believe I did that.</p>
<p>I think the way the video came out, it did make me look like a monster. That&#8217;s not the type of player I am. I&#8217;m not just out there trying to hurt players. That&#8217;s taking away from the beauty of the game. And I would never want to do that.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>The video makes Lambert look like a monster because she&#8217;s acting like a monster. It isn&#8217;t camera tricks or selective editing; she did those things and it&#8217;s not the camera&#8217;s fault she did.</p>
<p>Also, the &#8220;that&#8217;s not me&#8221; defense is acceptable when the incident in question is isolated, but it doesn&#8217;t work when the actions are repeated throughout a whole half of soccer. It&#8217;s not like Lambert just threw a kidney punch after getting nudged in the stomach with an elbow. She did that, plus the hair yank, plus the tripping, plus trying to take out another player&#8217;s legs. Lambert might not think she&#8217;s that &#8220;type of player,&#8221; but the video suggests otherwise.</p>
<p>The junior was deluged with calls and letters after the video went viral. Some of those were threats, but others came from men who wanted to ask her out. She was disgusted by both. In the interview, she tried to analyze why her actions became so infamous:</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I definitely feel because I am a female it did bring about a lot more attention than if a male were to do it. It&#8217;s more expected for men to go out there and be rough. The female, we&#8217;re still looked at as, Oh, we kick the ball around and score a goal. But it&#8217;s not. We train very hard to reach the highest level we can get to. The physical aspect has maybe increased over the years. I&#8217;m not saying it&#8217;s for the bad or it&#8217;s been too overly aggressive. It&#8217;s a game. Sports are physical.&#8221;</p></blockquote>

<p><span style="color:#000080;">My take on the matter is that this is a situation of an athlete getting frustrated. This frustration came from not being as &#8220;physically athletic&#8221; as her opponent. This situation happens a lot and can be prevented by continually improving one&#8217;s strength, power, speed, agility, reaction and confidence. <p>Several injury prevention programs exist that are aimed at placing female athletes into safer biomechanical postures (4).</p>
<p>Altering specific aspects of jumping, landing, and changing direction have been the primary targets of these injury interven-<br />
tion programs. The most common techniques are to: 1) change ‘stiff’ landings into ‘soft’ landings by having athletes bend<br />
their hips and knees upon landing from a jump; 2) make athletes consciously aware of maintaining proper knee alignment<br />
upon landing from double leg and single leg landings; and 3) replace the one-step stop or change in direction with multiple,<br />
small steps.  These simple modifications will improve biomechanical aspects of many common movements found in soccer,<br />
volleyball, and basketball.  In addition, by modifying biomechanical aspects of landing from jumps, beneficial alterations in<br />

<p>It snowed 10 cm up on Cypress Mountain recently according to their twitter account.  Isn&#8217;t that the best news you&#8217;ve heard all month?!  If it keeps dumping like this then we&#8217;ll get to start boarding in a couple of weeks!  I don&#8217;t know about the rest of you but I can&#8217;t wait.  I&#8217;m tired of watching snowboard videos, getting extremely pumped, and then coming to the sad realization that I can&#8217;t do a friggin thing about it except put on my gear and stand in front of the mirror like a jackass.</p>

<p style="text-align:left;">Kto wie co by się działo, gdyby HD 4850 zadebiutował wcześniej,  jeszcze przed 8800GTS G92 ? Co wtedy by się działo ? Nie ma jednak co gdybać. ATI odniosło sukces i poszło za ciosem.</p>

<p>Seria HD 58XX już po pierwszych testach wykazała nie bywałą wydajność jak na karty jedno rdzeniowe. HD 5850 rywalizuje z GTX-em 285, a HD 5870 z kartami dwurdzeniowymi ! Kolejne pytanie w którym miejscu znajduje się GF, kiedy zadebiutują karty na rdzeniu GT300 ? Co ciekawe zieloni wcale nie celują w półkę HD5850. Oni chcą pójść jeszcze dalej, gdzie ? Półka powyżej 1500 zł  ? Być może są to tylko plotki mające na celu wprowadzenie w błąd konkurencji, która na pewno liczyła by na taki krok&#8230;</p>

<p>Teraz może troszkę więcej informacji na temat DX-a 11. Kolejne zmiany w cieniowaniu, tesalacji, które przeważnie prowadzą do spadku wydajności niż poprawę grafiki.  Zadanie dla programistów, bo to od nich zależą poszczególne zmiany zachodzące w grach. Sukces odniesie ta gra w której będą widoczne zmiany, a wydajność nie spadnie nam drastycznie w związku z nowinkami. Zagłębiając się dosyć mocno w DX-11 możemy wyszczególnić kilka elementów:</p>

<p>Szczególnie dwie pierwsze zmiany dają wymierne efekty. Pierwsza z nich wykrywa słabo oświetlone elementy graficzne, które poprzez funkcję HDAO są jeszcze bardziej przyciemniane.  Druga z funkcji wprowadza nowinkę techniczną jeśli chodzi o realizacje wyświetlania cieni.
