I had never worked with Cubic Zirconia Beads or components prior to making this piece.  I knew CZ was a less expensive alternative to diamonds and was often seen in settings similar to those you would find for diamonds and precious stones but did not really consider them as something I would use in my jewelry.  So when Artbeads.com asked if I would try designing something with them, I was excited by the challenge.  I quickly realized that CZ beads come in a number of shapes and colors and as soon as I saw these long teardrops, I knew this was what I wanted to use.

They are absolutely gorgeous, sparkly with rich colors and facets that play with the light.  I laid them on a blank piece of paper, took my pencil in hand and started sketching.  I came up with the idea to create squiggles out of wire to separate the CZ teardrops.  After considering silver and copper, I decided on brass and I knew I wanted to darken it to accentuate the golden and red tones of the CZ’s.  I also added crystals in warm colors with the exception of the tiny olive crystals that cool down the heat of so many warm, fiery colors.  Black spacer beads and two lengths of handmade brass chain complete the design.

I have a box that is en route to my local FFL. This box is a very classy sort, and extremely lefty oriented. It’s hardly ever in stock – not due to popularity, but due to filling such a niche shooting role that it isn’t profitable for gun stores to keep them in regular inventory. This makes my waiting game very, very uncomfortable, simply due to the fact that I’m terrible at the waiting game.  Needless to say, once that game is over – expect a detailed box thread. Maybe even a range report of said box thread.

Speaking of range reports, I have still yet to take my CZ-82 out to the range. That poor thing is starting to turn into an unintentional safe queen, despite its C&R goodness and lack of delicacies that normally attribute to a safe queen.

And speaking of C&R goodness, I’m STILL waiting for my application to return to me from the BATFE. In retrospect, I don’t think I actually made a post about my filing of the application for a C&R 03 FFL. I did so about a month ago, so hopefully in another month I’ll be able to use it to make financially irresponsible impulse purchases of historic militaria items.

And speaking of irresponsible impulse purchases! I’m mildly craving a Marlin Model 60, for some reason. That reason is relatively unknown to me, though. But… at just around/under $100, how can you resist? Here’s to hoping I don’t stumble upon one at a pawn shop or something in the near future…

Y es que qué genial, que bien me siento de haber visto este gran anime.

La historia gira en torno a una chica llamada Pacífica Casull. Ella es una princesa que fue abandonada al nacer, ya que la profecía Grendel 5111 decía que ella era “El veneno que destruiría el mundo”, algo pasaria a sus dieciséis años. Debido a este hecho, ella fue arrojada a un precipicio cuando apenas era una bebe. Sin embargo, sobrevivió y gano el nombre de “La Princesa Abandonada” debido a su destino.

Ella fue rescatada y adoptada por los Casull (una familia humilde). Su Hermano adoptivo Shannon, que es un espadachín, y Raquel, que es una magus, desde ese momento la protegieron. Ellos se la pasan viajando de pueblo en pueblo con el fin de proteger a pacifica de los numerosos intentos de gente que quiere asesinarla por temor a la profecia. Conforme avanza la historia, se pueden ver las tremendas habilidades tanto de Shannon con la espada como de Raquel usando magia. Hablando de la prota, Pacífica es una chica normal y muy linda que esta proxima a cumplir sus 16 años. Siempre depende de sus hermanos, ella por si sola  no tiene la capacidad de defenderse. Es toda una princesa en el sentido de que es muy mimada, pero nunca actua como tal XD.

“Scrapped Princess” goza de una magnifica animación (BONES), la banda sonora, compuesta por Hikaru Nanase y el argumento son muy buenos.

A Stone that’s been on My machine for at least of month.  I decided to remove My mind from things and complete it yesterday.  Stone cutting (for Me) is quite relaxing..repetative.  I may do another today. 

I thank you for the support offered in your comments, links sent, etc.  I expressed thoughts to releave the ache in My stomach and in the attempt to calm My thoughts.  I’m embarassed by the actions of My child…I cannot undo his/her mistake.  I did not write to request sympathy, only to relieve something.  I would ask that you understand this, and perhaps you already do.  Thank you

De los nuevos animes de la temporada que  estoy siguiendo (7) + los animes que vi en ese tiempo (3) hay chicas que me llamaron muchisimo la atención *__*.

Actualmente sigo los animes de  Darker Than Black – Ryūsei no Gemini, 11Eyes, Kiddy Girl-And, Kobato, Inuyasha Kanketsu-hen, Seitokai no Ichizon y Bakemonogatari. Los tres animes que vi fueron son Scrapped Princess, Ichigo 100% y Hatsukoi Limited. Y los animes que sigo desde la pasada temporada de anime y aun no acaban son DBKai, Umineko no Naku Koro ni y FMA Shintetsu.

Euro-surprizele nu mai contenesc din partea liderului ceh Vaclav Klaus. Vineri, cu ocazia vizitei la Praga a preşedintelui Parlamentului European Jerzy Buzek, Klaus a adus în discuţie un nou amendament, un fel de notă de subsol la textul Tratatului de la Lisabona.

“Ultimul nostru Guvern nu a negociat excepţiile de la Carta Drepturilor Fundamentale, incluse în Tratatul de la Lisabona. Spre deosebire de Polonia şi Marea Britanie, Cehia are nevoie de o clarificare în acest sens. Aceasta ne-ar garanta că decretele Benes nu pot fi anulate de Tratatul de la Lisabona”.

Vaclav Klaus a vrut să exprime, de fapt, temerea faţă de revendicările germane în regiunea sudetă şi să capteze, astfel, bunăvoinţa susţinătorilor săi din tabăra naţionalistă. Decretele Benes sunt acel pachet legislativ prin care, după cel de-al doilea Război Mondial, au fost confiscate bunurile a milioane de germani alungaţi din Cehoslovacia.

Preşedintele Parlamentului European a încercat să liniştească spiritele, aruncând o lumină de optimism – chiar şi reţinut – asupra evoluţiilor de la Praga:

“Republica Cehă trebuie să decidă ca un stat independent. Nu ştim cum arată rezultatul însă lucrurile sunt, astăzi, mult

mai clare decât erau acum câteva zile. Voi face totul pentru a găsi soluţia”.

Blocajul pe care îl provoacă preşedintele Klaus irită, însă, lumea, la Praga. Propunerea de vineri a fost o iniţiativă pe care şeful statului a luat-o de unul singur, a explicat ministrul de externe Jan Kohout.

În opinia parlamentarilor cehi, Klaus îşi depăşeşte atribuţiunile, mai ales că ambele Camere ale Parlamentului s-au pronunţat, deja, în favoarea tratatului european. Spre deosebire de politicieni, politologul Petr Robejsek priveşte evoluţiile mai detaşat:

“”E datoria lui Klaus să semneze Tratatul de la Lisabona. Dacă nu ar face-o ar exista, la nivel european, şi un plan B – fără Klaus. Dar la Bruxelles sunt destul de mulţi lucizi care ştiu că semnătura lui Klaus e doar o chestiune de timp“.

Un posibil plan B, nu neapărat cel vizat de Bruxelles şi invocat de Robejsek, caută, între timp, şi Parlamentul de la Praga.

Perseverenţa cu care Vaclav Klaus a găsit motive să nu ratifice Tratatul de la Lisabona a încins lumea politică de la Praga într-atât de tare, încât aceasta s-a pornit să identifice metodele legale de o posibilă debarcare a şefului statului.

iderul de la Praga a refuzat până în prezent să-şi aştearnă semnătura pe Tratatul de la Lisabona, deşi noua formulă de constituţie europeană a fost aprobată de ambele camere ale Parlamentului cehesc.

În consecinţă, după ieşirea din scenă a irlandezilor, care în al doilea referendum au aprobat tratatul, Klaus a devenit ţinta, protagonistul şi purtătorul tuturor privirilor, speranţelor, ameninţărilor şi  temerilor europene.

Fiindcă de şeful statului ceh va depinde, în cele din urmă, ratificarea finală şi intrarea în vigoare a acestui Tratat ce propune modificarea din temelii a Uniunii Europene.

Într-adevăr, odată validat, Tratatul de la Lisabona ar schimba şi faţa, şi esenţa Europei. Uniunea Europeană s-ar preface dintr-o organizaţie economică şi comercială, într-una politică. Potrivit adepţilor Tratatului, restructurarea Uniunii e deopotrivă necesară şi stringentă, fiindcă altminteri, o Comunitate ajunsă la un număr de aproape 30 de state membre, n-ar mai putea fi condusă şi ar risca paralizia.

Vaclav Klaus, cel mai proeminent – dar nu şi singurul contestatar – al Tratatului, sperase într-un nou vot negativ al irlandezilor. Această nădejde i s-a spulberat. Klaus nu se mai poate baza nici pe un refuz al omologului său naţional-conservator de la Varşovia.

Singurul său aliat cu pondere politică a rămas şeful conservatorilor britanici, David Cameron, care i-a adresat o scrisoare, cerându-i liderului de la Praga să amâne semnarea tratatului până după viitoarele alegeri din Regatul Unit.

Fiindcă acest scrutin promite să dea un clar câştig de cauză forţelor de dreapta. Al căror lider a promis să organizeze un referendum pe tema Tratatului. În privinţa virtualului rezultat al unui astfel de plebiscit britanic opinia  analiştilor politici este unanimă.

Proiectul constituţional european, eşuat iniţial în Franţa şi Olanda, simplificat şi rectificat ulterior şi supus apoi doar în Irlanda, în forma sa actuală unui verdict popular, ar eşua într-un referendum britanic.

Dar ce-i reproşează documentului euro-scepticii, al căror ultim purtător de cuvânt dotat cu influenţă politică autentică a rămas, pe continent, Vaclav Klaus?

Om politic de dreapta, Klaus e un fervent adept al economiei libere, de piaţă. În opinia lui, europeismul profesat de promotorii Tratatului de la Lisabona e, în esenţă, o doctrină neo-socialistă şi expresia unui romantism utopic elitist, anti-liberal, de care profită doar stânga, birocraţia de la Bruxelles, precum şi ţările mari ale UE, în detrimentul tăcutei majorităţii continentale.

Ca lider al unei ţări victimizate şi de nazişti şi de comunişti, preşedintele ceh se teme că, pusă pe făgaşul propus de Tratatul de la Lisabona, Comunitatea s-ar putea lesne transforma într-un soi de nouă Uniune Sovietică, Cehia devenind din nou victima marilor puteri. Klaus, un adversar vehement al ecologismului, pe care-l consideră un nou comunism, vrea o Europă a liberului schimb şi al cooperării dintre guverne naţionale suverane.

Dar poziţia sa riscă să devină intenabilă. Ultimul său atu e Curtea Constituţională cehă, care judecă în prezent două plângeri depuse împotriva tratatului. Dar odată petiţiile respinse, preşedintelui ceh, acuzat că-şi izolează mica ţară, îi va fi extrem de greu să-şi menţină refuzul.

Majoritatea analiştilor consideră că, de îndată ce se va vedea în corzile oprobriului public, la care l-au şi condamnat de altfel mass-media şi clasa politică vest-europeană, Klaus va sfârşi prin a ceda nervos.

Întrucât însă preşedintele ceh nu s-a temut niciodată să işte controverse, ţine mult la convingerile proprii, iar obiecţiile sale sunt de ordin principial deznodământul actualului conflict e cu totul incert.

If so, you may want to visit former motorcycle and auto dealer and racer Frithjor Erpelding, a man who claims to have the second largest private museum in Europe dedicated to race motorcycles. Located in the Eifel mountain hamlet of Jammelshofen, near the ‘Ring, the museum houses 200-some bikes and a half-dozen of his championship-winning race cars.

Among the units on display: AJS, Aprilia, Ariel, Bimota, BSA, CZ, Egli, Gilera, NSU, Koenig, Moto Parilla, Moto Guzzi, MV Agusta, Matchless, Maico, Triumph, Norton, Greeves, Jawa, Puch, Wanderer, Harris, BSS, Benelli, Laverda, Royal-Enfield, Harley-Davidson, Horex, Honda, Gilera, Kawasaki, Kreidler, Linto, Suzuki, Scott, Seley, Yamaha, Rickman, KTM, Ducati, Montessa, NSU, Vincent, Velocette and Zuendapp, etc.

I asked Erpelding which of the 200 units is his favorite. “The Norton,” he replied without pause. Erpelding has two Norton Manx. “The chairman of Cambridge University recently contacted me, asking if I would sell one of my Manx. I told him ‘No’. He offered Euro 100,000 and I declined. Then he offered Euro 200,000 and I again declined. Finally, I cut to the chase and told him I wouldn’t be selling the bike no matter what the price.”

But, Erpelding is willing to sell certain units. He says he recently sold a Vincent to a collector in the United States for Euro 80,000. “He deposited the check in my bank account before even receiving the bike. I called and asked him why he trusted me, and he said, ‘I’ve heard you’re a trustworthy guy’.”

Erpelding is a fella who loves telling his stories. If you’re planning a visit, be sure to leave time to have beer at his Race Museum Bar. He’ll tell you about his run-ins with racer Agostini and Yamaha bosses; his thoughts on Triumph, MZ and KTM; his trips to Goodwood; and his days of racing Honda motorcycles and cars.

Leica X1 to be based on GF-1

Yep, everyone is raving about the M9 but little do they know that Leica is going to launch itself in the M4/3 arena with a spiffy new camera, the X1. Now we do not know for sure if the X1 is going to be called the X1 when launched but as sure as the sun rises from the East, Leica will be on the M4/3 wagon soon enough.
For some years now, Leica has had a pact of sorts with Panasonic. Together they built the 4/3 system which gave birth to the likes of the Digilux, Lumix LX and D-Lux series of cameras. But one thing is for sure, Leica never had the technology to make AF work on its cameras. Take a look at the massive failure of the R series cameras and you’d know what I mean. Also the only surviving legacy to the Leica lens are in the form of M mount manual lenses. For AF lenses, they have worked with Panasonic.
Leica’s long time competitor, Carl Zeiss, is already way head in supplying lenses to the likes of Nikon and Canon. It makes AF lenses exclusively for Sony DSLRs. It was Leica’s involvement with Minolta in the 70s, with the Leitz Minolta CL that started the ball rolling. Since then Minolta has folded into the Sony brand and thus the relationship continues. Carl Zeiss also supplies lenses to the likes of Sony Ericsson and Nokia cameraphones—making CZ far more successful commercially than Leica.
Leica is hard pressed to find success in the camera lens business. The M mount lenses doesn’t sell enough for it to be a major market player while the M series lenses are hampared by their lack of AF capability. All this doesn’t bode well for Leica and its latest offering, the S series cameras is a make or break attempt to consolidate its position in the camera market.
With this in mind, Panasonic intends to make use of Leica glass to further its digital camera ambitions. A new M4/3 Macro lens sporting Leica glass is about to be introduced and judging from the success of the M4/3 format, Leica would do no wrong to jump into the bandwagon.
The X1 is a replacement for the DLUX-4, and will co-exist with its current line of S, 4/3 and M lens systems.

So far, the 4/3 system has proven to be a failure as the big boys advance forward into full frame and APS C size sensor based cameras. M4/3 has some semblance of hope and Leica needs to lock this success if it is to survive the cut throat camera market of the 21st Century. The X1 is not the answer to its woes, instead consumer upgradable lens systems is the key. The Micro 4/3 is the way to go and this is how the Leica name will live on.
