This is an 11 image stitch with people in the shot…moving people. The software is so good these days that it even works out where people should and should not be. The begger was shot separately to ensure the building and him were sharp.

en cette saison 2009 2010, j’assure le capitanat de l’équipe 2 senior de Sainte Luce.

A notre rdv sur le parking de la salle Marc Jaffret, on se demandait si l’écart de valeur entre les Sorinières et notre équipe était justifié : notre interrogation n’a pas mis longtemps à devenir une certitude. Nous débutons la partie pour 3 matchs simultanés :

SH2 : Wilhem perd en 2 sets

SH1 : Moi-même en 2 sets

SD1 : Christelle en 2 sets mais contre une D3

Puis SD2 : Magali perd mais en 3 sets cette fois-ci, mais elle fait peur à son adversaire au 1er set.

DH : Adil et Bruno s’inclinent en 2 sets

TOTAL : 5 à 0

=> C’est alors que Floriane entre en action pour son premier championnat.

DD : Magali et Floriane GAGNE leur double en 3 sets. Bravo les filles !

This was just a typical door at Tivoli Vecchio. Every door I went passed, was an amazing, unique piece. I have warmed, increased contrast and added a texture to frame it. Attached is also a screen capture of the layers I created to finish this print. Even simple images like these can be broken up into small pieces and finished like a fine art piece. No actions/preset in the world can do this!

Thanks to all the participants of the Photoshop workshop at L&P Digital. We went through a lot of tips and techniques and the students walked away with a lot more than they bargained for. I get so much enjoyment out of teaching others and passing on my knowledge. I look forward to many more workshops next year.

I was fortunate enough to get a gig shooting the Super X  at Burswood for Australasian Dirt Bike Magazine a few weeks ago, which was unreal.

Just being so close to the action and watching the awesome battle between Chad Reed, Dan Reardon and Jay Marmont was just amazing. These guys put themselves at risk to not only get on the podium, but also entertain the crowd. An unfortunate side effect of this type of sport are the injuries and the potential for serious, if not life changing scenarios.

But part of the entertainment away from the racing is the Monster Girl. This girl has one job to do, hold up the 30 second board, and look good while doing that!! Somehow I don’t think you’ll disagree.

Imagine being at the starting gates, psyching yourself for the holeshot, only to be distracted by, well, what was  I writing about again, oh yes, the Monster Girl…………….

Well this is my first photo post – hope you like it.

This was taken about 30 km down the Millsteam Link Road after one of those pleasant 48 degree Karratha days. I could see the storms brewing all afternoon, and just prayed that the storms wouldn’t slip inland like they usually do. I headed out straight after work and found a nice little hill to sit on, and waited.

The lightning strikes seemed to be working all around me, or just directly behind me, where the camera wasn’t pointing!! I then noticed these nice clouds starting to build, but the lightning strikes were inconsistent. I was just about to pack up, totally dejected, but then I finally got a strike, a solitary strike, and it worked.

So here is the result of that solitary strike.

Hi everyone, welcome to my blog and thanks for looking. Here you will learn the truth about dpreview.com, well some of it anyway. I don’t have the time to point out everything that’s wrong with that site and some of the idiots in the forums there. If you think I’m making up anything here please feel free to go to dpreview and see the truth for yourself.

So, to get started about dpreview I’ll say that it is one of the biggest fanboy sites on the web. In this case, fanboys (including fangirls) are people who are in love with a certain brand or model of something and will promote and defend it way beyond what any sane person would do.

Some or all of them are probably paid by a manufacturer to be a shill (viral marketer) for their products and to attack and insult anyone who doesn’t say the absolute nicest things about that brand or model. Where dpreview comes in is that they allow and encourage the fanboys and will ban people who speak out against them.

Dpreview makes a lot of money from the manufacturers of the camera gear they review through advertising dollars and they also get free camera gear on loan from the manufacturers. Their so-called reviews are blatant examples of bias and favoritism and I’m sure it’s based on which manufacturer pays them the most or loans them the most gear. I wouldn’t be surprised if they take bribes too.

The dpreview forums are run by gangs of fanboys who viciously attack and try to silence anyone who doesn’t agree with them or blindly praise the brand or model they love and are promoting and defending, and especially Canon products, which are plagued with many inexcusable defects by the way. I think that dpreview may even pay some of the fanboys to help promote and defend certain products or to stir up controversy so that there are more hits on the forums, which generates more clicks for more advertising dollars. Either that or some (or all) of the fanboys could just be regular employees at dpreview.

Dpreview has a big monetary interest in promoting and defending brands and models so that interest in those brands and models is high and more people may go to dpreview and either click on the reviews or go to the forums. Of course people love to see a train wreck, which is just what the dpreview forums are, and the fanboys always seem to outnumber anyone who speaks realistically about brands or models and it makes it appear that the fanboys are always right.

The fanboys work hard to silence anyone who doesn’t agree that their beloved brand or model is the very best and dpreview will ban people who don’t submit and agree. dpreview also selectively deletes posts that reveal the truth about fanboys and camera gear.

If you go to the dpreview forums take a good look at how the fanboys argue endlessly that their beloved brand or model is perfect and way better than all other brands or models and they will use the most inane and nitpicky things to bolster their maniacal, idiotic claims. Fan comes from the word fanatic and it certainly applies to some of the people on dpreview, and especially in the Canon DSLR and lens forums.

If anyone says anything negative about a Canon product, even when it’s true, they are attacked as though they deliberately insulted the fanboy’s mother or kids. I think some of those fanboys value their cameras or lenses more than their mother or kids and that at least some of them sleep with their cameras or lenses and I really don’t mean sleep.

Fanboys must have very low self esteem to depend on owning or lusting after a camera or lens to make themselves feel like they’re important. Some of those people virtually live on forums, promoting and defending their beloved brand or model and rarely if ever take any pictures. They think that just owning or lusting after a certain brand or model will automatically make them a great and world renowned photographer.

If or when they actually do post pictures, the pictures are almost always junk, or mediocre at best. Many of them go on and on about how perfect and awesome a certain brand or model is but the next day they’re often asking which lens they should buy or which settings they should use for their vacation in Disneyland. Anyone who doesn’t know which lens or settings to use for certain things isn’t in a position to promote or defend any brand or model.

The dpreview forums are full of wannabe photographers whose self esteem is based on being in a brand or model cult. They have the cult, mob, gang mentality and dpreview encourages it by letting them stay and banning people who speak out about it.

dpreview is a joke, and I’m apparently not the only one who is figuring that out. Amazon bought dpreview in May, 2007. At that time dpreview had over 7 million unique visitors per month. Last month (OCT. 2009) they only had about 1.3 million even though new, popular cameras (to fanboys) were announced or released, which usually generates more hits on any camera review website. dpreview deliberately lies on their site and they still say that they get 7 million unique visitors every month.

They say: “These days the site is one of, if not the, premium digital photography site with an audience of seven million unique visitors a month..”

It won’t surprise me if dpreview or Amazon do everything they can to get this blog removed. If it disappears, you’ll know why, and if it does I’ll just start it somewhere else on the web.

What a disappointment Pisa was. I arrived hoping to be blown away, however, the leaning tower was non impressive to me. Especially with all that scaffolding around it, so I only took one shot for my records of the tower. I was however, loving the surrounding buildings. Got a few cool shots off and here are two of them.

Both these shots have had some textures applied to them that were shot at those same buildings.

Our next drive through was the Toscana region. Here are some quick shots I did of the Toscana hills. This is a beautiful region of Italy which I hope to visit again someday to photograph some more. The yellow vineyard shot is a 5 image stitch. The other two are single frames.

As we drove through Brescia, we noticed this building and I took a few shots from car window as we could not get any closer to building. It was an amazing site. It almost looked drawn in the sky. There is next to no post production other then colour adjustments and the straightening of the building. That is how it looks!

Jaki system wybrać? Nikon, Canon, Sony ?
Podzielimy się tutaj uwagami odnośnie sprzętu/aparatów. Czym się sugerować przy wyborze odpowiedniego obiektywu czy lustrzanki.

Wybór aparatu.
Należy bardzo dokładnie przemyśleć zakup aparatu, którego będziemy używać do fotografii ślubnej. Pamiętajmy, że ma to byc narzędzie naszej pracy więc musi być komfortowe i pewne,niezawodne.

W zależności od budżetu jakim dysponujemy może to być aparat marki sony, canon, nikon.
Liderami od kilku lat jest bezwzględnie nikon i canon (w dowolnej kolejności).
My sugerujemy najpierw przemyśleć oraz przeanalizować obiektywy, których chcielibyśmy używać – po tym etapie będzie nam znacznie łatwiej podjąć ostateczną decyzję.
Jedno jest pewne – bez względu na to czy będzie to nikon czy canon z pewnością będziecie zadowoleni.

Nikon D700 + nikkor 24-70 f/2.8+ nikkor 70-200 f/2.8VR + sb900 (tym zestawem możecie zrobić praktycznie wszystko),
Nikon D3 + nikkor 24-70 f/2.8+ nikkor 70-200 f/2.8VR + sb900 (przyjmijmy, że byłby to główny zestaw D3 oferuje większą wytrzymałość migawki 300.000wyzwoleń oraz sprawniejszy autofokus),
Canon 5d + 24-70 f/2.8 + 70-200 f/2.8 + 580Ex (uniwersalny zestaw),
Canon 5dmkII +14mm f/2.8 + 35mm f/1.4 L + 85 f/1.2 + 135mm f/2 + 580ExII (genialny zestaw dla profesjonalnego fotografa)
W przypadku obiektywów stałoogniskowych polecamy system Canona, jeśli planujesz używać zoomów to zdecydowanie lepiej wypada Nikon.

There has been rising interest in the past few years about Vitamin D’s potential for preventing/controlling flu and other respiratory illnesses.
One notable advocate for Vitamin D as a preventative against flu is Dr. John Cannell, lead author of a 2008 review article in the journal Virology. Cannell and his co-authors build on a decades-old insight from a British researcher, Hope-Simpson, who speculated that influenza was seasonal because of a co-factor related to sun exposure. The co-factor, this article asserts, is Vitamin D and its positive effects on immunity.

The second paragraph quoted below (from the same 2008 article in Virology) reports rather dramatic evidence that African-Americans, who are especially prone to Vitamin D deficiency, might very substantially decrease their susceptibility to colds and flu by supplementing with 2000IU daily during winter months.

Vitamin D, innate immunity, and influenza

Hope-Simpson’s model theorized that an unidentified “seasonal stimulus,” inextricably bound to solar radiation, substantially controlled the seasonality of influenza. Recent evidence suggests the “seasonal stimulus” may be seasonal impairments of the antimicrobial peptide (AMPs) systems crucial to innate immunity, impairments caused by dramatic seasonal fluctuations in 25-hydroxy-vitamin D [25(OH)D] levels. The evidence that vitamin D has profound effects on innate immunity is rapidly growing.

In fact, Aloia and Li-Ng presented evidence of a dramatic vitamin D preventative effect from a randomized controlled trial (RCT). In a post-hoc analysis of the side effect questions of their original three-year RCT, they discovered 104 post-menopausal African American women given vitamin D were three times less likely to report cold and flu symptoms than 104 placebo controls. A low dose (800 IU/day) not only reduced reported incidence, it abolished the seasonality of reported colds and flu. A higher dose (2000 IU/day), given during the last year of their trial, virtually eradicated all reports of colds or flu. Recent discoveries about vitamin D’s mechanism of action in combating infections led Science News to suggest that vitamin D is the “antibiotic vitamin” due primarily to its robust effects on innate immunity.
