… isn’t she just GORGEOUS!  I’m biased, I know, but really, she’s just perfect and beautiful.  I drove out to Salmon Arm today to meet her and visit my sister.  I had to tear myself away when it was time to go.  The little angel only opened her eyes for a few seconds in the absolute worst lighting EVER while the nurse tried to burp her.   Awww, can’t wait to do a full-fledged shoot with her next week.  But shhhhh, haven’t told Nikki I’m coming over with all my “stuff” yet. lol  Anyways, enough rambling… here she is one and a half days old:

Ik heb nu een tijdje de Nikon D700 in bruikleen en ik begin er meer en meer van te houden. Samen in combinatie met de Nikon 50mm f1.8 vind ik voor mezelf de beste combinatie voor headshots bij weinig licht.

Vandaag had Anja een nieuwe bril en daar horen, wat dacht je nu zelf, foto’s bij. (en hier was er echt weinig licht…)

While visiting with family in Eugene OR, we traveled down to Cottage Grove and stopped at several of the covered bridges there.  This image is from one of them.

Hey everyone sorry its been a little while, trying to find a house….. bloody hard work haha.
But here is a shot from the French Alps, this place was the most amazing of our trip, just driving up the apls for about an hour to see this was worth every second.

Wczoraj razem z chłopakami z GKJ-otu wybraliśmy się o 6 rano na plener pod wrocławskie lotnisko.
Miał być piękny wschód słońca, a było mleczne niebo. Udało się za to upolować Pumbę
Ciekawe tylko kto był bardziej wystraszony- ja czy on.

Wracając do domu udało mi się upolować jeszcze jednego zwierzaka. Biegał na skwerze pod blokiem.
Złapanie takiego kitajca nie było łatwe, ale od wczoraj mieszka już ze mną.
Nie chce ktoś przygarnąć królika-zguby?

The Pro-Youth Rodeo is in town this weekend and some of the best kids in Texas are competing here in Stephenville. These kids were born on a horse and make the most difficult moves with ease. Nice to see a lose rein and a snaffle on this one…he is a broke horse, going for the win!

Having just written encouraging you to give some money to support the Digital Journalist website, there’s actually an article that I think is worth looking at there too. It’s a review of the new Leica M9 by David Lykes Keenan.

For a long time I’ve been wondering about the digital equivalent of my Leica M6 with its 35mm f2 lens. I’ve used a Leica alongside my Nikon’s for about twelve years, initially with the slightly unusual (but distinctly more affordable) Leica CL with 40mm lens (very dainty…), then when I sold my house, with my M6. It’s beaten up and clunky to use, but still wonderful.  I’ve tried to find various digital combinations that worked in anything like a similar way (discrete, quiet, fixed lens, thoughtful). I’ve used a Nikon D200 with a 20mm lens (so a 30mm equivalent), and more recently a D700 with a really old Nikon 35mm f2 lens. This is the most satisfying option, but is still a fairly large camera, and doesn’t make you think in quite the same way as a rangefinder does.

And there is that thing that I really don’t like about the D700, which is the pop-up flash, which to me is a very vulnerable point. I’ve actually taped up the whole top of the prism, to prevent the flash accidentally popping up while it’s on my shoulder, and potentially getting damaged as it swings around.

So the new Leica M9 is here, and offers pretty much what you’d have asked for – full-frame, better (much better) colour rendition than the M8/M8.2 original digital Leicas, very similar handling to the original M6 etc. But still not a patch on the latest Nikon or Canon bodies at low-iso’s which is still a major issue – they’re just so good, that the Leica has to be very impressive to challenge. And they do just cost so much – Calumet list it at £4850 including VAT – the D700 is ‘only’ £1765 – not far off 1/3 of the cost. They don’t do the same thing, but that is quite a stretch…

So, like my thoughts on the Nikon D3s – I’d like one, but probably not at this time – it’s more of a financial decision than a practical one. If I had £5k hanging around, I’d have to do a lot of justifying to myself for a Leica M9 to make sense for my business. But, but, but – the M6 was a heart not head purchase too, and some of my favourite pictures that I’ve made were on Leicas. And that’s not just romance – the way you use a Leica/rangefinder informs all your other work too – allowing space and time for things to happen around you, allowing activity to come into your frame, rather than pursuing it.

Podzielimy się tutaj uwagami odnośnie sprzętu/aparatów. Czym się sugerować przy wyborze odpowiedniego obiektywu czy lustrzanki.

Wybór aparatu.
Należy bardzo dokładnie przemyśleć zakup aparatu, którego będziemy używać do fotografii ślubnej. Pamiętajmy, że ma to byc narzędzie naszej pracy więc musi być komfortowe i pewne,niezawodne.

W zależności od budżetu jakim dysponujemy może to być aparat marki sony, canon, nikon.
Liderami od kilku lat jest bezwzględnie nikon i canon (w dowolnej kolejności).
My sugerujemy najpierw przemyśleć oraz przeanalizować obiektywy, których chcielibyśmy używać – po tym etapie będzie nam znacznie łatwiej podjąć ostateczną decyzję.
Jedno jest pewne – bez względu na to czy będzie to nikon czy canon z pewnością będziecie zadowoleni.

Sugerowane aparaty/zestawy do fotografii ślubnej:
Nikon D700 + nikkor 24-70 f/2.8+ nikkor 70-200 f/2.8VR + sb900 (tym zestawem możecie zrobić praktycznie wszystko),
Nikon D3 + nikkor 24-70 f/2.8+ nikkor 70-200 f/2.8VR + sb900 (przyjmijmy, że byłby to główny zestaw D3 oferuje większą wytrzymałość migawki 300.000wyzwoleń oraz sprawniejszy autofokus),
Canon 5d + 24-70 f/2.8 + 70-200 f/2.8 + 580Ex (uniwersalny zestaw),
Canon 5dmkII +14mm f/2.8 + 35mm f/1.4 L + 85 f/1.2 + 135mm f/2 + 580ExII (genialny zestaw dla profesjonalnego fotografa)
W przypadku obiektywów stałoogniskowych polecamy system Canona, jeśli planujesz używać zoomów to zdecydowanie lepiej wypada Nikon.
