The Road, is a movie that started as a novel in 2006 by an American writer Cormac McCarthy. The novel won the 2007 Pulitzer Prize award for Fiction. The film by the same name The Road was directed by John Hillcoat and written by Joe Penhall. The film stars Viggo Mortensen as the Man \ father and Kodi Smit-McPhee as the Boy \ son, a father and son surviving in a post-apocalyptic 2012 doomsday wasteland. Along the way, they encounter grave struggles and hardships avoiding bands of cannibals along the road. The 2012 doomsday apocalyptic event is showing the beginning of the next ice age and destruction of the northern grain belts outlined in the H2onE2 and H3onE3 books.

Within the movie common themes can be drawn between “The Road” and many other 2012 doomsday type movies, like the Pandorum movie. To truly understand this film and its deep suggestive 2012 doomsday material an understanding of the Greek Gods and Hesiod’s Theogony is a must. It is suggested that you read my write up on the Pandorum movie review first and better yet the H3onE3 book posted free online.

The first suggestive material worth mentioning is the earth quakes. The earth quakes are a verbal representation of thunder, noting the presence and work of Zeus. From Theogony Zeus the high god holds the understanding of earth’s environment and is empowered for one reason, he controls earth’s most powerful energy source, lightning and thunder. Because Zeus could control lightning he has conquered all the lesser gods in heaven. Also in Theogony it is documented that Zeus plans on destroying the current age of this population, “the Iron Age” like he destroyed all the previous ages of humanity. In the Road Cormac McCarthy is both describing, perpetuating and foretelling the destruction of earth’s current population; utilizing movie media to continue the biblical prophecy.

The biblical prophecy is important to understanding the movie the Road, it actually has a lineage that started with classical Greek mythology, and was modernized by the later Greeks with the creation of the Old Testament. This gave the classical Greek gods a more modern earthly presence. The Romans, seeing what the dyeing Greek Empire had crafted, created and promoted the works of the New Testament, designed to sacrifice the future king, Oedipus prophecy and riddle hidden in the Old Testament. The War of Religion was not over yet, because the last Greek cultural strong hold had one last card to play. John of Patmos fashioned Revelations as the final capstone of all the previous works and prophecies, which in short dooms mankind at the death of future Prometheus also known as Oedipus. Humanity is required by the prophecy to find and empower this none mythical character or they will become cannibals and on the Road of their own destruction.

When the suggestive thunder appears in the movie it is followed by an interaction with cannibals, future man. Here the movie director John Hillcoat is suggesting that Zeus has forced the environmental disaster and here the thunder / earth quake is confirming his work. One of the thunder scenes, one that includes cannibals occurs when the young mother and child are killed by the large gang of hungry cannibals. This event is soon followed by a church scene where a painting of the Holy Grail at a Last Supper is shown. Here the movie director and writer is hinting that the Greek gods and their 2012 doomsday prophecy has been evolved into Linear Western Religion, both the Old and New Testaments. And, that the last supper and the offering of a body and blood sacrifice is in fact a cannibalistic act. This scene is telling the aware and educated members of the audience that the prophecy of the Greeks is the same prophecies in Christianity and they both end on the same road, The Road.

The second most important element in the movie pertains to the reference of Fire. In the mention of fire, here the movie takes on elements of the classical Greek story of Prometheus, who stool fire for the betterment of mankind. The boy turns out to represent a modern variation of Prometheus when his father epitomizes all of the Greek God Pathogen, in many different scenes. In the movie scene where the Man \ father swims through frigid rough water to search a partially sunken fishing boat offshore, he takes on the powers of Poseidon. The scenes where the two characters take refuge in caves the father takes on the reference of the god Hade; god of hell and the underworld. When the father picks his son up and runs from the cannibals he represents the Greek God Nike and when he is armed with an axe he represents Hephaestus, the Greek god of the Forge. Many scenes reflect back to the Man’s wife who is a representation of Aphrodite, the Greek Goddess of Love. His wife’s death is never shown for one reason alone, because you cannot kill a god, at least not in the realm of myth and science fiction.

The story well outlines the two primary characters from the H3onE3 book; H3one3 Universal Facilitator, Universal Sacrifice and Holy Pi. The two hidden and prophesied characters in all media aka (music, literature, plays and movies) are both shown as Homeric Heroes and sometimes Sacrifices. It could be said that there is no Zeus or UF without a Prometheus a US, as in the understanding that a classical comedy plays against and with the understanding of a tragedy and vice versa. The two primary characters uncovered in the H3onE3 work are divine figures, mixed and blended in all Homeric media as a mechanism of population control. In the Road the Man represents the Universal Facilitator and the boy the Universal Sacrifice.

The Road references to fire as being in the hart, maybe the hart of humanity and being human and humane, when in contrast the opposing group, the cannibals are suggested as more animal; solely thinking of themselves. The mission of the boy and man turns out to be a mission of humanity, to carry the fire to the coast, symbolized in the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor.

An interesting character appears in the movie called Eli or Ely played by, I believe an artificially aged Robert Duvall. Eli is a Hebrew name, which means High Priest and last of the Judges. (1 Samuel chapters 1-4) Eli served as the judge and high priest of Israel when The Ark Of The Covenant, contained the Ten Commandments. Although Eli was a good and righteous servant of God, he was unwilling to remove his “two” (UF and US) corrupt sons from the priesthood and this brought about his doom.

When the US and UF meet Eli an interesting geological formation is shown in the background. Clearly this geological rock formation demonstrates three erosional layers showing natures ability to end civilization but also the ages of man already ended by Zeus. Eli calls the US an angel and then later on, even more interesting a god. Here the writer is playing both sides of the coin with an angel reference catering to Christianity and as a god respecting the original, evolved Greek pathogen. It is when Eli refuses to talk about his own child where his real identity is uncovered. Eli turns out to represent of a high god either Coronus or Zeus himself. Eli’s refusal to talk about his own child, this is the key to uncovering him as the high god, both Coronus and Zeus in Theogony are noted for eating their children. It is possible here the writer is suggesting that Eli representing Zeus destroys himself when he ends the Iron Age.

The Man the UF carries binoculars near his hart, this is because he has the ability to see the future and at his death the binoculars are taken or even passed on to his son the US. The binoculars are a metaphor to the ROAD humanity is on and being able to seeing the future, the end of the Iron Age. The prophecy will be forced upon humanity as a Revelation. Many references in the movie regurgitate a need to stay off the road, meaning that humanity survives by not continuing down the road, the same road, the road humanity is on.

The Three Great Masters, yaitu Leonardo Da Vinci.

Venice is one of the world’s biggest tourist destinations, so it doesn’t need much selli

Venice is one of the world’s biggest tourist destinations, so it doesn’t need much selling from this blog. What I would like to say though, is that when you go, slow down. Venice is such an easy place to get caught up in sight seeing. The Basilica di San Marco, The Doge’s Palace, The Accademia, Le Fenice, La Torre dell’Orologio, Rialto bridge, the legendary “Bridge of Sighs,” the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, the Palazzo Ducale, and of course the endless arrays of the famous Murano glass are all unmissable sights and it takes a lot of focus to make sure you catch them all; as a result, people tend to come for a couple hours, knock the names off a list, and head out. In fact, the first time I went, that’s what I did. Staying there is expensive and the endless mass of tourists in La Piazza di San Marco are strong deterrents for an extended stay, I get it. But, if you make Venice a day trip, you wont love it.

The sights are amazing, but they can’t be done quickly. The Doge’s Palace is huge. Particularly after a comparatively momentary walk around the Basilica di San Marco, it will have felt like days by the time you exit. But, if you are going to get lost in time, the palace is a great place to do so.

The Accademia houses so much fantastic Italian art, even with a strong pace, you can’t get out in more than a couple hours. Somehow your feet get bogged down in Titian’s deep reds; time slows as you ponder da Vinci’s mesmerizing “Vitruvian Man;” you have to shove through Veronese’s crowded works after climbing, inch by inch, out of the depths of Tintoretto’s perspectives; you find yourself frozen in front of Giorgione’s “Tempest,” admiring the incoming storm, only to find yourself finally glancing at a watch while rushing a cursory scan of one a Liss snap shot of life. After doggedly leaving the gallery, a lazy drink during a Venetian dusk is the only thing you’ll want to do- three more stops before grabbing the late train really isn’t realistic. But, if you are on a time crunch and have to do Venice in a weekend, bite your lip, dig down and sight see for a day; because then you can spend a day as a Venetian.

After spending Saturday running around from stop to stop and bottle of water to bottle of water, Sunday should be for hanging. Back track to those labyrinthine streets that you wondered through, lost, from the train station to (what you thought was the unavoidable conclusion to every street) Basilica di San Marco. Find that lazy piazza with the umbrella covered tables, savory aromas leaking through windows, with the kids playing calcio and old men people watching, cane in hand, Compari not far from reach.

Sit down and be lazy and take in the atmosphere and history of Venice. Sitting around with Venetians, your mind will drift back to its days of commercial superstardom, when the streets were full not of tourists, but velvet and silk clad merchants- Dutch, German, Turk. When master mask shops were flanked not by souvenir stands, but brothels and inns. As you day dream, a procession suddenly emerges from one of the alleys- an entire congregation walking, in song, behind some forgotten relic. An off duty gondolier, exhausted and enjoying a cigarette next to his vessel on the canal, begins a beautiful and tragic song. Even the locals stop for a moment, put forks down, pick up the ball, or turn off the hose to hear the lament.

Un-categorical, Venice is the tourism capital off the world, but remains a place where you can experience that true rustic feel of Italy. So, don’t miss the true gem. When you schedule your next trip to Venice, make sure to leave a day of nothingness, so you can have a cappuccino and some sardines and jam on toast and experience the life of a Venetian for a day.

Hazel’s morning lecture has thrown up yet another thing to think about, in the generation of ideas. We have been given a new method of creating ideas, that looks someting like this:

I doubt I’ll be using this method to create more ideas for this project inparticular – any more things buzzing around my head at the moment and I might explode! – but I will definitely be using it for the next one!

Something I forgot to mention a while back:

We were all asked to design something that DaVinci never got around to doing. DaVinci was clearly a busy man.

For a bit of inspiration in what was a very vast spectrum, I decided to link this back to my food project. After several ideas along the lines of packaging, and making comfort food, I settled on a doughnut hole puncher. You just know Leonardo loved his doughnuts!

This will hopefully be exhibited alongside the Museum of Science and Industry’s Da Vinci exhibition that’s going up sometime soon.

Other than that, the food cushions are coming along well, looking nice and squishy, just like I intended.

Will be looking into making a life-size gingerbread man, for a bit of a change from cushions. He could be used as a hug-buddy, a rug, a scarf…

Siapa Mona Lisa?

Lantas, siapakah Sophia?

The Home Of The Lady Our Redeemer.

ha scolpito nella mente un pensiero deciso;

Listen me..you don’t say me Because Because

Tu mi sembri sincera, metterei me stesso in gioco
è che purtroppo credo ancora nell’amore quello vero.

Quella sera quel sorriso e quello sguardo l’ho cercato: tu ballavi e io fermo incantato..

Finalmente stasera primo appuntamento

TAINT / GRUNDLE : (noun) The prime piece of real estate located conveniently between Scrotumburg/Vaginaton and Anusville.

RULES OF THE TAINT-GRUNDLE GAME:
1. Replace a word in the title of a movie, book, album or song with the word grundle or taint inorder to achieve maximum hilarity.
2. The first person to offer the suggestion “The Taint,” or “The Grundle,” is dragged outside and beaten.

SOME FACTS:
As early as 1517, Da Vinci’s painting was starting to flake. By 1556—less than sixty years after it was finished — Leonardo’s biographer Giorgio Vasari described the painting as already “ruined” and so deteriorated that the figures were unrecognizable. In 1652 a doorway was cut through the (then unrecognisable) painting, and later bricked up; this can still be seen as the irregular arch shaped structure near the center base of the painting. It is believed, through early copies, that Jesus’ feet were in a position symbolizing the forthcoming crucifixion. In 1768 a curtain was hung over the painting for the purpose of protection; it instead trapped moisture on the surface, and whenever the curtain was pulled back, it scratched the flaking paint.

A first restoration was attempted in 1726 by Michelangelo Bellotti, who filled in missing sections with oil paint then varnished the whole mural. This repair did not last well and another restoration was attempted in 1770 by Giuseppe Mazza. Mazza stripped off Bellotti’s work then largely repainted the painting; he had redone all but three faces when he was halted due to public outrage. In 1796 French troops used the refectory as an armory; they threw stones at the painting and climbed ladders to scratch out the Apostles’ eyes. The refectory was then later used as a prison; it is not known if any of the prisoners may have damaged the painting. In 1821 Stefano Barezzi, an expert in removing whole frescoes from their walls intact, was called in to remove the painting to a safer location; he badly damaged the centre section before realising that Leonardo’s work was not a fresco. Barezzi then attempted to reattach damaged sections with glue. From 1901 to 1908, Luigi Cavenaghi first completed a careful study of the structure of the painting, then began cleaning it. In 1924 Oreste Silvestri did further cleaning, and stabilised some parts with stucco.

By Cara Sulieman

WORK IS getting underway to preserve one of Scotland’s most famous and important chapels.

Rosslyn Chapel in Midlothian starred in the blockbuster Da Vinci Code and has seen a massive increase in visitor numbers since.

But thanks to a botched repair job in the 1950s the roof is crumbling and has been sealed off for some time.

The Rosslyn Chapel Trust is looking to secure a further £1 million to ensure that a £9 million restoration can be completed within the next year.

Work is set to start next month on a brand new roof for the chapel, restoring the building to its former beauty.

It is famous for the intricate carvings that line the walls of the small chapel, and the rumoured connections to the Knights Templar.

Work has already begun on restoring the stained glass windows in the main body of the building.

An Italian art expert says evidence suggests Leonardo da Vinci once painted a nude version of his famous Mona Lisa.

Renzo Manetti, a Florentine art expert and da Vinci specialist, said he believes the artist created “heavenly” and “vulgar” versions of the same portrait, a practice common among other Renaissance artists inspired by Neoplatonic philosophy, ANSA reported Monday.

“Even though the (nude) painting has been lost, there are at least 10 reproductions or comparable works, painted by pupils or disciples, which enable us to reconstruct the original,” Manetti wrote in his new book, “The Mona Lisa’s Veil.”

Manetti said a work by da Vinci’s student Andrea Salai, Monna Vanna, is especially compelling as a piece inspired by the nude Mona Lisa.

The researcher said da Vinci’s lost painting is believed to be in the same pose as the Mona Lisa, but on a balcony with one breast exposed.

Do you have any problems with your vision? I don’t necessarily mean “vision” in the sense of seeing with your eyes. I’m talking about your vision that uses your imagination. The vision that allows you to “see” what you want the world to look like in the future. If you have such a “vision,” then what does it look like? Is it blurry or clear? Is it the way you want it to be and/or the way you think it will be? Is it a vision that allows you to be what you want to be? Do bigger dreams or visions generally mean big results?

The previous paragraph points out, in question form, some of the different ways we deal with vision. Many successful people have big dreams and have manifested those dreams or visions in various ways. Isaac Asimov, a popular science fiction writer from the twentieth century, had monstrous dreams or visions. He wrote over 300 books, wrote numerous short stories and won many awards while always manifesting a vision or dream that allowed him to go back and forth from fiction to non-fiction. When he wrote fiction, he very seldom expressed himself through a character that we might remember. Instead, most of his characters would be discreet, while allowing us to envision the story through their minds.

Da Vinci envisioned and lived the renaissance.

Asimov’s ability to have the reader see his vision was powerful. Through his writing, one could see into his mind. At least, that is the way I felt as I read some of his books. I remember reading, “I Robot” while in high school and then later on, seeing films based on some of the short stories from the book. Asimov’s vision and the vision I had in my mind regarding robots, were one and the same. Of course, my vision was most likely strongly influenced by his writing. That alone was great, but after I saw a short story from the book portrayed on the movie screen hosted by Boris Karloff, I realized how good Asimov was at clearly revealing his vision to us. The screen version was almost identical to what I had in my mind.

Of course, most of what I read from Isaac Asimov was science fiction, yet he wrote in such a way that my friends and I felt it was real and we understood it. He wrote from a point of view that all could understand science. That was a big vision.

Einstein envisioned a different order for the universe.

People who have big visions have had great impacts on civilizations. Examples like Socrates, da Vinci and Einstein come to mind. Socrates for his vision of a Western Philosophy, da Vinci for his Renaissance vision and Einstein for his special vision of physics.

We also have had people whose visions were negative. Hitler comes to mind almost immediately. He had a grandiose vision, but from my point of view, it was an irrational model for our society. His New Order was a vision that excluded many people for reasons of birth, relationship and/or ethencity. It was a vision that wasn’t good for a world that is as diverse and rational as ours. Again, Hitler’s vision was wrong for our world, but was somewhat a reasonable vision, if applied to, for example, animals in a zoo.

Hitler envisioned a world of exclusion.

So, what kind of world would you like to see in the future? I believe your vision for the world helps shape your life. It helps give you purpose and a sense of accomplishment.

We need to create a vision for our world that, unlike Hitler, is inclusive, fair-minded and positive. It should be a vision that enables all of us to contribute toward the improvement of everyone in our world. It should be a vision that helps our world be in “good shape.”

What’s your vision?

Before I begin, I must mention that along with an outstanding continental breakfast spread, our hotel makes the most beautiful cappuccinos you’ve ever seen. Seriously. As my husband says, they are latte art! Coffee here is serious business. I think hubby’s probably going to cry when he has to return to the watery espresso of Indianapolis as compared to the real-deal Italian version.

the most perfect cappuccino ever!

Lots to report from the past few days, but not much food-related! After Thursday night’s dinner and gelato, I awoke Friday feeling like crap. My tummy is still trying to figure out just what the hell I’m trying to put it through and decided to stage a major revolt. Perhaps not coincidentally, I realized that the two times I’ve felt ill on this entire trip have been after eating gelato. Alas, no more of the frozen concoction for me. I’m not really a frequent ice cream eater anyway, so guess I’ll just go back to the occasional Haagen Daz at home.

So, my breakfast Friday morning consisted of hot peppermint tea. For lunch, I shared a few peanut butter crackers with the toddler and ate a pear. I felt somewhat recovered by dinner time that night, which was a quick crudo/mozzarella sandwich at hubby’s trade show and the rest of the fresh fruit cup that the toddler didn’t finish. Still not sure exactly what crudo is, will have to research. It’s like a super-salty meaty proscuitto kinda thing. You find paper-thin slices of it in sandwiches and salads and such; like bacon, a little goes a long way for flavor.

Speaking of the trade show, we got an opportunity on Friday to check it out and see just what hubby’s been up to all week. The EICMA show took place at Fiera Milano, a HUGE-ass convention center. This event was enormous – something like 18 full-size pavilions bursting at the seams with all things motorcycle. TONS of people (mostly men, surprise, surprise) everywhere. Supplies, equipment, racing schwack, the bikes themselves – it was absolutely overwhelming. The toddler and I took a cab to the show and somehow managed to locate hubby’s exhibition stand amid the chaos. It was seriously something to see and I’m glad we went to understand what all the fuss was about. The toddler had a blast running up and down the aisles; he was so excited by all the lights and noise and motorcycles, I thought his little head would explode.

A quick tangent – It’s interesting to note the difference between public reactions to the toddler here and in Germany. Last week, people didn’t really pay him much mind, with a few exceptions here and there such as the kind Asian gentleman at our hotel. Here, he is a total rock star. Nobody looks twice when he makes a high-pitched squeal in a restaurant. In Germany, I was half-expecting someone to ask us to leave when that happened. Women fawn all over the kid in Italy (even more so now that we’ve taught him to blow kisses on command). He’s got the female staff at the hotel absolutely wrapped around his little finger. Even at the trade show, people we didn’t know were smiling at him and taking photos of him sitting on the bikes. It’s all very sweet, really.

Saturday was perhaps the best day I’ve had here in Milan. I have to say, Milan did not make a good first impression on me, but I’ve slowly warmed up to it within the past few days. It’s kind of a hard place to get used to right off the bat, but after a week, I feel like I’ve sorta gotten the hang of how things work. A little bit anyway. I actually gave someone on the street instructions on how to find the right tram line yesterday! In English, mind you, but I still knew the answer!

Got up yesterday and headed out on our daily walk. On a whim, I decided to give “The Last Supper” one last go. The toddler and I were never able to board the tram line that would have taken us to the nearest stop, so we just boarded the one we’ve been riding to the Duomo all week, got as close as we could and walked the rest. As it turned out, this was a happy accident. The section of town we strolled through to get to Santa Maria Della Grazie was the most beautiful area I’ve seen all week.

We got to the church at 11:45 a.m., I entered the ticket office and crossed my fingers. I told the man behind the desk that we didn’t have a reservation, but wondered if there might be any cancellations this weekend. I don’t know if he was being honest, or if he merely cut me a break because I was pushing a stroller all around downtown Milan, but he hooked me up with a ticket for a viewing at 12:15. SCORE! I was thrilled! And it was just enough time to feed the toddler some lunch, another bonus.

Small groups of around 25-30 people are allowed to view the painting in 15-minute increments throughout the day. They keep things moving on a strict schedule; at five minutes prior to your allotted time, they call you in. Visitors are herded through two vestibules on the way in with doors that keep each crowd self-contained in one small space at a time. Finally, you enter THE room.

The painting is huge – 15 feet by 30 feet, I believe – and takes up an entire wall of what was once a church dining hall. There is now nothing else in the room, with the exception of a couple benches and another huge painting of the crucifixion opposite “The Last Supper.” All the focus is on the art. The painting is massive, and honestly, breathtaking. A docent gave a little narrative about it in several different languages, all of which I missed as I was keeping an eye on the toddler, overjoyed at being allowed to run free for a few minutes within the closed room. On the way into the church, I was furious to realize that my camera battery had gone flat, but as it turned out, it didn’t matter. They are deadly serious about not allowing any photos inside. A Japanese man kept trying to sneak one in, and they busted him every time. On his last attempt, a big booming voice came over an unseen P.A. system announcing “NO PHOTO!!!” I about jumped out of my skin; it was like an edict from God. I kept looking around for armed guards to storm in and take the poor man away.

After 15 minutes, you’re ushered out again and that’s that. It really isn’t enough time to take it all in and appreciate the level of detail that Da Vinci put into this commissioned work. No wonder it took him something like three years to complete. The painting has gone through several restorations over the years, the most recent taking place within the past few decades. I just can’t begin to describe how impressive it is. If you’re ever in Milan, this is definitely something you should try to do. It was well worth all the trials and tribulations I went through to get there.

I was enjoying this new area I’d discovered so much that when the toddler nodded off in his stroller, I just let him snooze and found a not-quite-rip-off cafe overlooking the Piazza del Duomo for my own lunch. Again, nothing fancy, just a Caprese panino (no tuna this time) and a Coke. I enjoyed it at my leisure while people-watching and taking in the lovely Duomo.

We caught the tram back and I decided to get off a few stops early to explore a promising-looking street market I’d glimpsed earlier on the way downtown. Turns out, the few stands I’d seen from the tram were just the tip of the iceberg; this market continued on down one of the side streets for about six blocks! Unlike the Paris markets, there weren’t many food vendors, and what they had wasn’t nearly as top-shelf. However, this seemed THE place to be for designer knockoff shoes, purses, wallets and belts, plus a bunch of other clothing vendors and some trinkety stuff. I bought a beautiful (and seems to be nicely made) brown leather wannabe Prada bag for 30 euros, and a silky cashmere-ish sweater top for 20. FINALLY, some shopping I could afford in Milan! Now I actually can go back home with something to show for my visit.

We’d been away from Il Pavone for two nights in a row, so were due for a return last night. Dinner was good, although I have to wonder if Maria’s got it in for me somehow. There was the whole steak confusion last time, and then last night, she forgot my salad. Feeling up to tackling some pasta again, I filled up on spaghetti bolognese and a little taste of hubby’s pizza. It was good, as everything is, but not the best thing I’ve had there.

After busting ass all week, hubby’s hoping to get things wrapped up at a decent hour tonight. Today’s the last day of his show, and I’d really love to take him back downtown and introduce him to my newly discovered territory from yesterday. We’ll see, hopefully it will work out. Tomorrow, we’re off on a road trip to Ducati, the Rolls-Royce of the motorcycle world, and hope to pay a visit to the world-famous Dario the butcher and taste some of his culinary delights. I’m excited to get out of the city and see some of the Italian countryside. A domani, mi amici!
