สำหรับตอนนี้มาพูดถึง Bill for Collection กับ Letter of Credit นะครับ มีหลายคนถามอยู่เยอะเหมือนกันว่า B/C กับ L/C มันเป็นเอกสารเหมือนกัน มันจะทำหน้าที่ต่างกันมากมายขนาดไหน? หากมีการเบี้ยวเงินกันเกิดขึ้นแบบว่าผู้ซื้อไม่ยอมจ่ายตังจะมี process ต่างกันไหม ก็จะขอพูดในเชิงของการ Take Action ของตัวกลางอย่างธนาคารแล้วกันนะครับว่า เมื่อมีการส่งของให้กันแล้ว แล้วมีการเบี้ยวหนี้ B/C กับ L/C จะมีกลวิธีเดินเกมส์กันอย่างไร ก็เดี๋ยวมาเริ่มจาก Basic ก่อนแล้วกันนะครับ

Bill of Collection (B/C) นั้นคือเอกสารเรียกเก็บเงินลูกค้า เมื่อผู้ส่งออกส่งของไปยังผู้นำเข้าอีกที่หนึ่ง เขาก็จะผ่านตัวกลางของธนาคารเนี่ย ซึ่งถ้าเป็นการซื้อขายแบบเสี่ยงที่สุดก็จะไม่มีเอกสารให้ดูส่งไปแล้วไปรับเลย แต่พอเป็นลักษณะของ B/C นั้นก็จะมีเอกสารอยู่ 2 ชนิด คือ Document Against Payment (D/P) และ Document Against Acceptance (D/A) โดย D/P เนี่ยหมายถึงว่าผู้นำเข้าก็ต้องยอมจ่ายตังก่อนแล้วค่อยเอาของไปได้ ส่วน D/A เนี่ยก็เป็นลักษณะยังไม่จ่ายหรอกแค่ขอ Credit ไปก่อนว่าจะเอาไปกี่วันๆแล้วค่อยเอามาจ่ายที่หลัง ถามว่าอะไรเสี่ยงกว่าก็แน่นอน D/A ก็ต้องเสี่ยงกว่า D/P อยู่แล้วล่ะ ส่วน Letter of Credit หรือ L/C นั้นก็ออกในเชิงเป็นเอกสารสัญญา เช่นเดียวกันเมื่อเอกสารครบทางธนาคารมีหน้าที่ต้องจ่ายตัง

การ Take Action ของธนาคารในกรณีที่ใช้ตั๋ว D/A กับการใช้สัญญา L/C นั้นต่างกันนะครับ ดูเผินๆมันก็คือเอกสารเหมือนกัน แต่ธนาคารมีสิทธิกระทำต่อคู่ค้าไม่เหมือนกัน การที่ผู้นำเข้าไม่ยอมจ่ายตังใน D/A นั้น ธนาคารเองจะไม่มีการจ่ายเงินไปให้ผู้ส่งออก แม้จะผลัดวันประกันพรุ่งไปอีกกี่ 10 ปี แต่ถ้าไม่จ่าย ธนาคารก็ไม่มีขึ้นเงินให้ ธนาคารจะทำได้อย่างเดียวคือเจราจาให้มีการจ่ายตัง ธนาคารจะจ่ายให้เมื่อผู้นำเข้าได้ชำระเงินเป็นที่เรียบร้อยแล้ว ส่วนใหญ่แล้วการที่มีการใช้ตั๋ว D/A เพื่อออกของ ผู้นำเข้าจะต้องเซ็นรับไปว่าออกของไปแล้วนะ การเซ็นรับตรงนั้นแหละที่เราสามารถนำไปแสดงเป็นหลักฐานได้ว่ามีการเอาของออกไปจริง (แม้เขาจะไม่จ่ายเงินก็ตาม) แล้วค่อยว่ากันในกระบวนการประจานหรือเข้าสู่กระบวนการฟ้องร้องต่อไป

ในกรณีของ L/C นั้นต่างกัน ตัวนี้เป็นสัญญาที่จะต้องมีการค้ำประกันและมีวงเงินเกิดขึ้น การที่มีการค้าขายกันอย่างถูกต้องแล้ว เมื่อธนาคารเห็นเอกสารครบ ธนาคารจะจัดการชำระเงินทันที นั่นหมายความว่าไม่ว่าอย่างไรก็ตามธนาคารก็จะเป็นผู้จัดการให้มีการชำระเงินเกิดขึ้นตามสัญญา แต่ถ้าเกิดผู้นำเข้าไม่ชำระเงินหล่ะ? มันก็จะต่างกับ B/C D/A ตรงที่ว่า ธนาคารจะไม่รีรอที่จะรอลูกค้ามาจ่ายตัง แต่จะมีการไล่เบี้ยกันเกิดขึ้น โดยเมื่อธนาคารได้ชำระเงินให้กับผู้ส่งออกแล้วก็จะแจ้งไปยังธนาคารของฝั่งผู้นำเข้าให้จ่ายตัง ซึ่งธนาคารอีกฝั่งต้องปฏิบัติตามสัญญาเช่นเดียวกัน (ยกเว้นกลุ่มประเทศที่ Credit ต่ำๆ อาจจะหายหนีไปเลย) ซึ่งผู้นำเข้าก็ต้องโดนไล่เบี้ยให้จ่าย ถ้าไม่จ่ายธนาคารก็จะทำการ Take Action อย่างเช่นการหักเงินเป็นสินเชื่อกินดอกเบี้ยอะไรกันไป เป็นการบีบบังคับกันทางอ้อม ซึ่งนั่นแหละทำไมคนเปิด L/C ซึ่งจะต้องมีกระบวนการขอวงเงินด้วย

ต่างกันอยู่นิดๆนะครับแต่คิดว่าน่าจะเป็นประโยชน์ให้หลายๆคนเลย จริงๆแล้ว Term การชำระเงินมีอยู่ 4 แบบ Advance Payment/ Open Account / Bill for Collection / Letter of Credit ซึ่งแต่ละอันก็ต้องดูว่าจะใช้อันไหนตามความเหมาะสมกับคู่ค้านะครับ

This time every year, I feel Veteran’s Day is nothing more than a “FEEL GOOD” day for those who have not served in the services. They only have to acknowledge vets one day out of the year, and then they can forget about them and carry on with the lives which the vets secured. What I find amazing is many of the people who praise us of this day in November are the same that criticize them the rest of the year, seeking to remove their benefits and to take the rights that those vets fought for away from the American people.

Veteran’s Days is a Feel Good Day for those who are too selfish to serve their country. We need mandatory service to earn the right to become a citizen of this country. Before one can vote, drive, drink, own a gun, or work government jobs, one must serve this proud nation in the armed forces for at least 3 years: Honorably.

PWD says to show some class and not to boo. This echoes my sentiment I had after the LSU game.  Win or lose, this is OUR TEAM.  No one cares more about winning than Mark Richt, Willie Martinez or Joe Cox.

It is ok to be pissed off, but don’t boo YOUR OWN TEAM.  The fact that this needs to be said is a shame.

CAT 2009 Pattern

Now that most of the surprises related to the computer version of CAT have been uncovered in the last two months (except for the ones you have yet to face between November 28 and December 7 at your test centres), it’s time to take a closer look at the new Official Test Interface. Moreover, the need to utilise the tabs and buttons most effectively can not be over-emphasised at this point.

Here, computer-based examination experts from TCYonline.com help you familiarise yourself with the test interface so as to make the most out of each feature that it offers. So here’s how to master the art of managing time effectively in CAT 2009.

Know thy battlefield
The first step in the preparation process is to know the features of the test interface introduced by Prometric. The following is a snapshot of the testing interface that TCYonline.com has prepared which precisely simulates the official CAT interface:

The above snapshot shows us the four tabs. Additionally, it has also been confirmed that questions will appear one at a time as shown above. Of the four tabs, the most important are ‘Review’ and “Mark’. ‘Review’, because it is the only way one can jump through the sections and multiple questions and ‘Mark’, because, if utilised properly, it can be the perfect time-saver.

How to attempt CAT
These tips might be the same as those advised since CAT 1999 (for a paper-based test), nevertheless, the difference lies in utilising the ‘Review’ and ‘Mark’ tabs to your advantage. Here is what you need to do before starting to solve any question:

* The test will be attempted in three rounds. R-1 must take between 15-20 per cent of the total time. R-2 must take 50 per cent of the time and R-3 will take 25-30 per cent. You must, therefore, calculate the time line for the complete test the moment you read the total time on the computer screen.
* Calculate the average time per question (we’ll call it your ‘alarm time’) that you have, so that you know the maximum time a question can take. This helps you avoid getting personal with a question.
* If the initial introduction gives a listing of the sections, please take a note of the section number for your strength area be it Quant (Q), Verbal (V) or Data Analysis (DA).
* Whether you are interested or not, you MUST have at least a quick glance through the tutorial that will appear before the test.
* In order to avoid panic, please recall that:
o The only way to reset a question is to ‘re-click’ on the selected answer option. You will not find a ‘reset’ or ‘de-select’ button on the computer screen.
o In ‘Review’, you CANNOT move to a desired question unless you double-click on the question number. This is important because many of us would have practiced a ’single click’ option in their mocks and may conclude that the software is not responding properly.

Now that you know what to expect, TCYonline.com recommends the following three stages to help you escape the stress:

Round 1: Raise your confidence
Focus on attempting only the questions that are on topics you are strong in. A question that is expected to take less than alarm time for you qualifies to be taken up in R-1.

Now, you should also work smart. While attempting the selected questions in R-1, you must automatically prepare a list of questions that deserve to be attempted in R-2.

How?
Just put the ‘Mark’ tab to its best use. That is keep on marking the questions that are expected to take a little more than the alarm time, so that when you start R-2 you do not lose focus. Also, ensure that you do not mark more than 22 to 25 questions as you will not have enough time in R-2 to answer more than these many questions.

We urge you to start with the section that is your strong area, no matter if it is Section 3 of the test. You may jump sections using the ‘Review’ screen. This is how the Review screen will appear:

Remember that in DI, most of the questions appear in sets of three or four. It is recommended that one set of three-four questions should be attempted in this round. Moreover, graph / table / chart-based questions should be preferred over logical games in R-1.

In Verbal, try more questions based on grammar and vocab. You should also try a few RC questions based on some specific stanza (and not the complete passage). Avoid doing inference-based RC questions, para-jumbles and FIJ in the R-1. Do para-jumbles only if the jumbled paras are very small.

Round 2: Reaching the threshold
The main target of R-2 is to clear cut-offs and ensure high accuracy. The best way to do this is to go to the ‘Review’ screen and click on ‘Review marked’ written at the bottom. Here, since you have planned and already marked the R-2 specific questions in the R-1 itself, you should be quite comfortable. Here’s how your ‘Review marked’ screen will look:

Questions of R-2 are the ones that may require a little over alarm time and need a few more calculations than those in R-1. You must try attempting two RCs in this round. The first aim is to have a balanced attempt in R-2, for achieving which you must start working on questions from your strength areas. Remember not to get carried away with only one section in R-2 and ignoring the other two. You must do that ONLY AFTER you are certain that you have managed cut-offs in all the three sections.

Round 3: Optimising the score
We say ‘optimising’ and not ‘maximising’ since a difference in attitude can make or mar your percentile in CAT. Keep your cool and be very choosy in selecting the right questions to spend your time on.

But how would you determine which questions to do in R-3? Should you choose to ‘Review all’ or to ‘Review marked’?

Actually, in this round, the ‘Review’ screen decides your navigation. You may click on the ‘Review incomplete’ tab or select one untouched question at a time and remember to get back to the ‘Review’ screen after attempting each question. However, first you have to see whether all the marked questions have been attempted in R-2 or not. If there are still a few remaining, prefer those.

Then, check the number of questions attempted in each section and see if one section has not been attempted much. If you find that you had a balanced attempt, you may now attempt the section that is your strength area to optimise your score.

The time limit for the three rounds may vary from person to person but lies almost in the given range. We recommend you to try this method in your mocks to ensure perfection.

This afternoon DA was brought on board to help us with some finishing touches. Up to this point I have been collaborating very closely with SH. We have explored and expanded upon many of the ideas from my original draft of the piece. Our collaboration has made this the piece richer and more engaging than it was when originally conceived.

Mr. A is a talented and gifted performer and nowhere is this better displayed than his attention to the subtlety of the body and of precise, varying movement. About half way through the rehearsal process I thought it would be good to have him come on board as a consultant of sorts, but I wasn’t sure when that would be. Well, after Rehearsal #11 with S we both agreed that the piece was pretty near completion and that now was an excellent time to bring in a new pair of eyes and those eyes should be DA’s.

Run #1
I decided to finally knuckle down and run this thing essentially at about ½ speed with the sole intention of becoming familiar again with the piece. This was a wise decision as my body had lost much of its muscle memory and two transitions were a bit muddled and a lot of the subtlety and details had become lost

Run#2
I presented some basic goals of our piece to DA before he watched. I outlined the locations for the camera as well as the basis for the actions. This was summarized by me explaining that in my everyday life I often move too quickly through actions or am already beginning a second one before the first was in completed and how I wished to show this comically. Also, I was not concerned if the piece was laugh out loud funny or not. I simply want it to be crisp and consistent and engaging.

The run was pretty solid. It was not as focused as I had hoped for. DA saw the whole of the piece and asked only a few questions but made a number of excellent suggestions.

Additions
A sequence was inserted where after I attack my coat and I pop up with the coat on my head. This was inserted into an area that allowed for me to change the pacing and also bring back an element that I had discarded. I can now have one leg, then one arm, then one arm in coat, then head and then finally head with coat over it pop up.

Audibles: I found that several moments a sigh was pushed from within me. These had a variety of qualities and occurred at different times. It was decided that a few of these added to the soundtrack could be excellent additions to the piece.

The Trip: I was always concerned that many of my actions looked as if they were done in order to justify a gag verses actually being an action that had an ironic outcome. DA helped clarify this by rearranging the order of some of the actions. Also, a small bit was added where I actually trip up causing me to fly offstage. This was simple, but necessary as there was not a reason for me ending up so far off stage in the opposite direction than I was headed. This also led nicely into my return with an “attitude” of dismay, confusion and defiance.

Clarifications
Once I discard of the coat for the first time I was simply leaning over the coat three times by diminishing degrees. I have now fully committed to these moments by way of a more pronounced physical action with my arms thus creating tension, space, energy and above all clarity.

This helped alleviate another trouble spot which was my “outsmarting” or “one upping” the coat itself. I am now able to actually indicate movement away from the coat and with a simple shift of my center and then another shift whereby I can now pounce onto the coat with relative ease.

Run#3
This run was so tight and energetic that I not only felt like I could have done it three more times, I also felt like it was a whole new piece. It was clear that the combination of repetition, familiarity and new insight gave the piece new life.

Reason over Motivation
Something that DA, SH and myself share is a mutual concern for the use of motivation. It is benchmark of naturalistic acting method. It is also a huge part of much of what we do everyday. However, when I constructed this piece my goal was to worry less about motivation and work on the “reason” why something was done. At first this seems like an almost dehumanizing approach recalling the “uber marionette” movement of bygone directors; For what reason does the actor stand? The director has pulled his strings!

In some ways this is how we were working. Sure a motivation is great, but it is often colored with a lot of prior knowledge or emotion. In the context of this piece my aim is to have all of my actions happen as the result of an intention. The outcome happens for what reason? Because intent compelled me to do something. Also, working with less emotionally driven acting is essential because the costar of the piece is after all a coat. And a very smart one at that. It does the minimum required. No hyperbole no superfluousness it just “is”. It does an excellent job, it reacts only when it has a reason to.

Shivambu believes that such matters are “confidential” and “are not supposed to be discussed in public”.

He then turned on the DA, which had released a statement on the matter. Shivambu had this to say:

Hallo alle zusammen.

Seit dem Update vom iPhone OS auf Version 3.1.2 ist einiges besser, manches aber auch irgendwie instabiler geworden.
In manchen Situationen verschwinden plötzlich die Knöpfe aus der Menüleiste oder der Slider lässt sich nur noch bis zur Hälfte schieben
Auch habe ich das seltsame Gefühl, dass mein iPod langsamer läuft als der von jemanden anders, obwohl es das gleiche Modell und OS ist, nur meiner mehr Speicher hat.
Ich schätze mal, dass es daran liegt, dass ich einfach mehr Daten auf meinem habe:

Mehr Apps (die die Ladezeiten zum Homescreen verlängern?) und mehr Musik/Bilder/Videos.

Was ich übrigens sehr ominös finde, ist die Anzeige im App Store.
Bei meinem iPod steht da seit OS 3.x “Aktualisierungen” (was übrigens viel zu lang für den Button ist, sodass es dumm aussieht)
Bei dem gleichen iPod eines Freundes steht seit eh und jeh (war bei mir vor 3.0 auch so) “Updates” (Was volkommen akzeptabel ist)
Obwohl auch er das Update auf 3.1.2 hat…. Mysteriös

Alles in allem hoffe ich, dass Apple eine art “tuning-update” rausbringt, was die “alten” iPod touch 2g Besitzer wieder glücklich macht
