Lets see how to mount the image files (*.iso, *.nrg etc) without burning into a CD/DVD. All you need is a software to mount the file. Daemon tools, is one of the best optical media illusions among Alcohol 120% & others.

Installation (Windows XP / Vista/ 7):

1. Download the daemon tools from the following website.

Daemon Tools Lite  V 4.35.5

2. Follow the steps given below:

Choose English as the Language. You can also choose other languages if you’re comfortable with it.

The first screen will appear with the above information. Choose Next to continue.

Read & accept the EULA (End User License Aggrement) to continue.

 

There are 2 licenses available. Paid license is for commercial purposes & Free for non-commercial use. I’m choosing Free License since its for my home PC.

Choose the components to install. Click Next to continue.

Check ‘Browser’s start page’ if you want to set your browser’s home screen to Daemon-Search. Click Next to continue.

Choose the destination folder to copy the files. Click Install to proceed with the installation.

Installation in progress..

In order to finish the full installation, you need to reboot your computer. You can reboot immediately after installation or at after some time.

Click Finish to exit the installation.

Steps to Mount the Image file:

After restart, the following message will appear in the desktop screen.

 

Choose Daemon Tools Lite shortcut from the all programs menu or desktop.

The daemon tool shortcut will appear on the taskbar.

Click the icon & choose Device O

Now select the image file from the open menu.

After opened, go the My Computer & you’ll see the contents of the image file is mounted in the virtual hard drive (in Devices with Removable Storage).

You can also set another virtual drive & mount the image. For additional options, right click the icon in taskbar & view.

By using Disk Imaging, you can also create an Image file from CD/DVD or existing virtual drives.

It may be having lesser seek quality, visualizing quality, etc. but it is a highly reliable media player basically for videos. This software should be installed on one’s computer for those situations when one is cheated by all other media players. It can be installed on any Windows.

DAEMON TOOLS

Daemon Tools is used for advanced copy protection emulation with the help of implemented virtual DVD ROM drive. It enables the user to play almost CD copies available.With the help of this one can play CDs and DVDs without inserting them into CD drive.It is hardly 1mb in size. It can be installed on Windows95/98/ME/NT/2000/2003/XP/Vista.

Ich habe wieder ein paar Kleinigkeiten installiert. Nachdem ich am neuen Paint fast verzweifelt bin (Hübsche “Ribbons”  aber leider finde ich nichts mehr) habe ich das gute alte Paint.net installiert.  Kein Problem, geht einwandfrei. Und sieht aus und funktioniert wie immer .

Das Gleiche mit Winamp, kein Problem. Winamp brauche ich z.B. für die praktische Auto-Tag Funktion und Internet-Radio.

Dann wurde es schon schwieriger: Daemon-Tools. Die Installation der aktuellen Lite-Version 4.304 kommentierte Windows sofort mit einer Warnmeldung wegen bekannter Kompatibilitätsproblemen. Nach etwas googlen fand ich SPTD 1.60 den man angeblich installieren sollte, was ich auch tat. Win-7 meckerte die DT Installation immernoch an aber es liess sich installieren. Bisher noch kein Problem festgestellt bis auf die Warnmeldung von Windows beim Start. Trotzdem warte ich auf ein Update, das in ein paar Wochen wenn Windows 7 offiziell raus ist, hoffentlich kommt.

Danach habe ich ein paar Spiele installiert. Die Vorgehensweise ist dabei immer die Gleiche. :

1. Spiel installieren + Updates machen (wegen eventueller Registry-Einträge wegen der Version).
2. Installationsverzeichnis umbenennen (kann später gelöscht werden wenn alles geht) und den gesicherten Ordner aus Vista statt dessen einfügen. Der Schritt ist vermutlich nicht immer notwendig aber manche Spiele speichern auch noch irgendwas im eigenen Verzeichnis oder es sind diverse Mods vorhanden die man behalten möchte.
3. Savegames Verzeichnis auf der Vista Platte suchen und in Windows 7 einfügen, ggf Dateien ersetzen.

Die Einstellungs- und Savegame-Dateien liegen in folgenden Verzeichnissen:

Far Cry 2 c:\Users\xxxx\Documents\My Games\  ;  c:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Local\My Games\Far Cry 2\

În tutorialul video de mai jos v-am explicat pas cu pas instalarea unei imagini cu ajutorul renumitului program dedicat acestei instlări şi anume „ Daemon Tools ”. Nu ştiu ce părere aveţi despre calitatea acestui clip, însă e făcut în scurt timp, şi sper să fiu cât de cât înţeles de cei ce-l vizualizează. Daemon Tools is great, but I always wanted to be able to right click an ISO and mount it.  I wanted to keep the default (double-click) action opening ImgBurn.  For whatever reason this info wasn’t readily available on Google if you searched for “right-click” or things along those lines.  But Daemon Tools has command line options too, and you can just create your own menu item, here’s how to do it.

Note this will only add the right click option for one virtual drive, and one file type.  It’s not perfect but really I mostly use ISOs and you can just repeat the steps for whatever other drives you want right-click-mountable, or whatever other filetypes you want to right-click on.

Open My Computer, go to Tools > Folder Options, File Types.  Hit “i” on your keyboard to jump down to the files with extensions starting with “i.”  Find ISO, click the Advanced button, click the New button.  Now, the “Action” field is what will display in the right click menu.  If you want a shortcut key in that menu, precede the letter you want with an ampersand.  Since my virtual drive is drive E: I entered this as the Action:

   &Mount as drive E:

So “M” is the shortcut key after opening the menu.

Next, the Application field.  If you have Daemon Tools Lite installed in the default location, and want to mount the selected ISO on your first virtual drive, this is the code:

   "C:\Program Files\DAEMON Tools Lite\daemon.exe" -mount 0,"%1"

If your installation is in another location, adjust the command line.  If you want to mount on your second virtual drive, increase the number after mount to 1.  After the comma is the file location for the ISO, Windows will insert that in place of %1; enclose it in quotes or it won’t work on filenames that have spaces.

And there you go.  You can leave “Use DDE” unchecked; Windows seems to check it later for you anyway.  Click OK, OK, and try right-clicking an ISO.

Daemon Tools may show you a security prompt when you mount an image this way.  You can check a box on that prompt to not prompt you again once you’re satisfied everything is working.

I feel like it’s time to share my huge (ahem…) knowledge of free Windows software to the world, so now I’m going to make a list of software I use a lot and gladly recommend.

• Web browser: Google Chrome [Fast, clean and incredibly smart. Love.]
• Email client: Mozilla Thunderbird [I haven't really tried so many mail clients, but I don't miss anything in this one. You might need to do quite a  bit of tweaking if you want it to work in your prefered way.]
• Music player: foobar2000 [The most advanced and competent music player on the market, with endless upgrading and tweaking possibilities. And that it uses less to no memory at all isn't exactly bad either. The spectrum visualization looks amazingly cool as well (I even use it to "take a look" at the music I make myself to find flaws).]
• File converter: MediaCoder [Extremely advanced, yet easy to use. I can't find anything this little thing can't convert between. It works for both audio and video.]
• Uninstaller: Revo Uninstaller [Easy to use and way better than Windows' own software for this purpose. This uninstaller doesn't only have the ability to force remove things (remove registry entries), it will also search for left over files.]
• Registry cleaner: Piriform CCleaner [My first choice for removing registry junk and left over file extensions etc. Looks very nice and works fast and well.]
• BitTorrent client: µTorrent [Incredibly tiny (you don't even have to install it), fast, reliable and competent. Nice.]
• Anti-virus: avast! [Perhaps not the best on the market, but all the things you get in the free version is hard to beat. My only real complaint is that virus searches are very slow, but hey, not that many anti-virus softwares have the option of a free license, which weights up a lot of things. If you want a free anti-virus, choose this one. You won't get much better than this.]
• CD/DVD burner: CDBurnerXP [This is fast, well equipped and smart burning software. You will miss nothing and appreciate everything. Go get it!]
• ZIP utility: IZArc [This is the best free extractor I've found yet. Looks nice, and does a good job. Recommended.]
• Music tagging: Mp3tag [It's quite amazing how much junk info that hides in the metadata of files. No music player (except perhaps foobar2000) can show and edit all the metainfo of the music files, therefore other software is necessary. Mp3tag allows you to see every info-field that's stored in your music files. And it supports all of them. The competition doesn't stand a chance against this.]
• Video player: VideoLAN VLC Media Player [This plays everything. Literally. Even things it shouldn't be able to play. You will never need to think about downloading something else like this again. It has all the functions you need and more. This is the "market" (it's free) leader for a reason. If you watch video on your computer, you NEED VLC Media Player.]
• Mounting tool: DAEMON Tools [This is the most famouse one, and the free version allows you do all the mounting etc. you need. Recommended.]

That’s all the software I can think of now, that I use a lot, and want to share with all my (non-existing) readers. If I think of anything else I will update this post.

So you are on Windows and want to mount an image file (iso for example). How do you do that? Right, you can’t do it with shipped programs. So the first step is finding an application that is able to just do that.

At this point I used to go to the Daemon Tools website, but since I became a happy GNU/Linux user I tried a little harder a few days ago and found a great piece of software called ImDisk. As you may have guessed it from the title of this article, it is opensource and does not install anything like a useless toolbar or set another startpage in your browser (Daemon Tools likes to do that). Nor does it have a limited number of virtual drives (the only limit seems to be that Windows assigns letters for each drive, so when you run out of letters you get a problem, DT limits the virtual drives to 4 in the basic version). Like DT it also works with Windows 7 and supports the x86_32 as well as the x86_64 architecture and is easy to use through a GUI.

So if you use any Windows OS beginning from Windows NT 3.51 and need to mount images, you can just go ahead and give it a shot:

Te explico: con este software instalado podrás montar imágenes virtuales de CDs o DVDs que hayas creado o bajado desde la web. Lo instalas y por defecto creará una Unidad Virtual en tu PC. Cuando vayas nuevamente a MI PC notarás que al lector de discos que tenías, se ha agregado otro. Para usarlo sólo debes buscar la imagen que deseas montar (formatos como .ISO, .NRG, .DAT, etc.) desde el ícono que quedará en la esquina de la barra de herramientas al costado del reloj.

Hoy voy a poner aquí una “solución” a algo que me ha estado dando algún que otro quebradero de cabeza :S!

Resulta, que ahora tengo como sistema operativo Windows 7 (como copia de evaluación, cualquiera lo puede descargar, está en funcionamiento hasta julio  de 2010, creo recordar), por unos problemillas que tenía en mi pc, y que contaré en otra ocasión xD. La cuestión es que una vez que voy a instalar Daemon Tools, ocurre lo siguiente: de entrada me dice que hay problemas de compatibilidad, a lo que hago caso omiso (en la mayoria de los casos no pasa nada, en otros como en el partition magic 8, te destroza los discos duros..), se hace la primera parte de la instalación correctamente, hasta el momento en el que pide reiniciar; renicias, y aquí esta el problema; comienza la instalación desde 0 nuevamente.

Realmente no se la causa por la que sucede esto, pero como necesito un montador de cd/dvd, ya que tengo practicamente todo a partir de .iso, pues encontré otro programa llamado Virtual CloneDrive, también gratuito, y que funciona a las mil maravillas.

Então, recebi ordens de arranjar o The Sims 2.  Sabe-se lá Jesus como…

Não vou entrar em detalhes, mas a internet 2.0 ajudou na minha situação.

A parte mais “dificil” foi conseguir rodar o jogo sem o CD. Ainda bem que existe um programa chamado Daemon Tools, bem útil se vc quiser rodar um .ISO sem um correspondente físico.

24 horas e 2,5 GB depois eu consegui rodar o jogo sem erros.

O jogo é bem gay, hein… Vc pode “andar saltitando” (não estou mentindo!).

Ele oferece muitas ferramentas para criação de personagens, de fato, acho q o meu carinha ficou bem parecido comigo.

Não, não vou colocar uma imagem dele…

Quem realmente gostou do jogo foi a minha irmã, q adora ficar horas nesses joguinhos de maquiar, criar, colocar roupinha….

From time to time I find myself with an ISO image file of a disc. I don’t want to waste a blank CD if I am only gonna use it one time. This is where DAEMON tools comes in to help.

DAEMON tools creates a virtual CD drive in your computer and it enables you to mount these ISO images as if they were CDs. However, I have been using Windows 7 since the Beta came out and i had not been successful at installing DAEMON tools correctly. Every time I tried, the system keep rebooting and at startup it would just start the installation over again until now.

This is what I did to make it work

First you need to download and install the latest SPTD Driver here:

32-bit

64-bit

After the installation is complete, you will need to reboot your machine.

When Windows starts up, download daemon tools if you have not already done it and install it.

That is all you have to do.

I have used it for about a week and it has yet to fail on me. If you have any problems, questions or comments go ahead and contact me.

Hace ya un rato que me olvidaba de cargar un archivo iso. En ubuntu esto es cosa de niños. Pero en el windoze es otro asunto, antes lo hacía mediante DaemonTools pero sus ultimas versiones son muy malas. Además de que el proceso de instalación es tedioso y ya no hablemos de desinstalarlo porque es de lo peor. Existen otras opciones, como Alcohol.
Gracias a Dios encontré otra forma más sencilla de montar (proviene del mundo linux) un archivo .iso y verlo como un disco virtual.
Simplemente descarga y descomprime este archivo (Microsoft Virtual CD-ROM) en la carpeta de tu elección.
Ejecuta el archivo VCdControlTool.exe
Da clic en DriverControl y luego en Install Driver, selecciona el archivo VcdRom.sys y da clic en Start y OK
Ya tenemos en funcionamiento el controlador, ahora hay que agregar una unidad virtual dando clic en Add Drive, esto agregara una entrada en la lista con la ultima unidad disponible (por lo regular Z:)
Solo resta dar clic en Mount y seleccionar el archivo .iso que queremos montar.
Para quitar la unidad basta con seleccionar la unidad y dar clic en Eject, opcionalmente puedes quitar el controlador.
