Ich hab gestern mal aus Spaß an der Freude Memes durchwühlt, wobei ich im übrigen festgestellt hab, dass es Zensursula sogar zu “Know Your Meme” geschaft hat. Dabei kam ich auch mal wieder an den Daft Hands vorbei und dachte mir: die hatte ich noch nicht in diesem Blog und das geht eigentlich so garnicht. Also…

Wird dann auch Zeit, dass die bei Know Your Meme “Und alle so Yeaahh!” übernehmen.

With the emergence of the Internet and the current addiction of people to video sharing sites, the appeal of the boob tube is somehow faltering. YouTube, Vimeo, Veoh, and whatever video sharing sites (or even internet tv) is what’s in today. Face it, our society is somehow vain that is why we want to be stars of our own show.

Não é novo (apesar de que, Daft Punk sempre será novo pra mim) mas me passaram por esses dias essa “interpretação” de “Harder Better Faster Stronger”. Muito criativo! Tem as versões Hands também (aliás, foram as primeiras), mas a Bodies é muito mais legal. Bastante coordenação:

I have a crush on Donghae. My favorites are Yesung and Sungmin. But Eunhyuk is hot. I wish the dance battle was longer! Eunhyuk was just great! & i think it would have been better though if it was between him and Donghae! ;p

Since i’m not really a follower of Super Junior and it’s only recently that i got to memorize all their names hehe i was a bit surprised to find out that Donghae is the 9th among  all male stars to have the most number of fans! Wow! Donghae!! <3!! 9th??! (see here)

I actually didn’t know him before i got to watch that Come To Play episode where they were the guests. The only ones i knew were the ones who are usually on variety shows like Heechul, Kangin, etc.. So i really had no idea that he’s actually one of the famous ones. When he’s not on TV pretty much like the other guys. So yay for Donghae! (& Eunhyuk too who’s #8!ü)

I actually love the song they used for the 20-second dance battle between Eunhyuk and Shindong! It’s one my fave tracks from Body Jam 36 when i used to attend Body Jam classes at Fitness First. I miss those times! & it’s also the song used in one of the coolest videos i’ve seen on youtube. I’m the kind of person that’s easily amazed with the silliest of things so i find this really fascinating LOL.

Daft Punk came up on my playlist and what does that make me think of?  Oh right those nights in college I spent “studying”, ie. trying to learn Daft Hands!

A wonderful remake to “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” using words written on someone’s hands! VERY SWEET.

If you’ve never heard of Daft Hands, you clearly do not spend enough time on YouTube.  I kid.  But for real, check this guy out.  His videos are pretty effing sweet.

Como vão, pessoas? Hoje venho falar de algo muito interessante: Daft Punk. Pessoalmente, não sou muito fã do gênero da música eletrônica, especialidade da dupla francesa. Mas como muitos de vocês, conheço (e curto muito) algumas das músicas, em especial One More Time e Harder Better Faster Stronger, uma das mais famosas.

Essa última ganhou atenção nos últimos anos graças a alguns vídeos. No mundo do YouTube, a primeira criação foi Daft Hands:

Bem criativa, a “dancinha de dedos”  brincando com a letra da música foi um sucesso e inspirou várias versões, de diferentes autorias, incluindo várias versões aceleradas. Em seguida, veio Daft Bodies:

Mesma idéia, aplicação diferente, outro sucesso. Esqueci do hit por alguns meses, e esta semana me aparece este brinquedo:

idaft é uma brincadeira com Harder Better Faster Stronger, que permite ao usuário “montar” a música, que se baseia nessas 16 opções.

Fiquei brincando alguns minutos, até que me lembrei da primeira vez que vi Daft Punk, em algum momento da minha adolescência. Na época, tanto a música quanto o clipe me chamaram atenção de cara – ou talvez mais o clipe, em estilo Anime (desenhos japoneses), do qual eu era e ainda sou um grande fã.

Lembrei de ter visto dois ou três clipes, e o mais legal de tudo é que cada um deles era um capítulo de uma história. Resolvi pesquisar.

Primeiro passo da pesquisa: Descubro que Harder Better Faster Stronger, One More Time e outras fazem parte do mesmo disco, Discovery.

Segundo passo: Descubro que todos tem em comum os clipes em estilo anime.

Terceiro passo: Descubro Interstella 555

A verdade é que todos os clipes do disco realmente foram feitos de maneira episódica, integrando, juntamente, o musical Interstella 555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem. A história, com várias ligações com as músicas, acompanha uma banda de quatro alienígenas humanóides, que são raptados e levados à terra, onde são transformados em estrelas da música. Em especial, novamente voltando ao que já foi falado, o segmento em que têm suas aparências e memórias modificadas é o mais legal, sendo ao som de – adivinhe? – Harder Better Faster Stronger.

Uma pesquisa rápida ao YouTube revelou que toda a história está disponível, dividida em episódios ou tudo junto (abaixo):

Now that we’re all familiar with the basics, let’s move on to specific terms:

Blog–Meaning “weblog”, it is a web page that the author uses to keep others updated about their personal life, business, and opinions.  Though there are many fine blogs out in cyberspace (http://kylebaxter.wordpress.com comes to mind), most blogs are sounding boards for people who don’t like President Bush.  On these “blogs”, you can leave “comments”, which relay information back to the author about your appreciation or displeasure about the content of the blog (now would be a great opportunity for you to practice by leaving lots of comments for me to peruse; I’m doing it for your learning benefit, after all).

Vlog–Meaning “video blog”, it serves the same function as a blog, except that the information is relayed primarily through video and sound.  A vlog is also commonly a misspelling of blog, being that the b and v keys are right next to one another.

Avatar–This is a user-created cartoonish representation of him or herself.  Typically, the avatar in real life would weigh approximately 92 pounds less than the user.  I have yet to see an obese avatar.  Even if they exist, I’m sure no one uses them.

Blavatar–An avatar that is used on a blog to represent the author.

Vlavatar–A 17th century Eastern European warlord.

RSS–Short for “Really Simple Subscription”, it is an Internet tool that sends an e-mail notification to the subscriber every time new content has been posted by the author of a website.  If you’ve never done this before, now is a great opportunity to become more Internet savvy.  Go to the right-hand side of the screen right now, find RSS, and click it.  Enter the appropriate information, and you will be able to receive updated information about your favorite blog.

Online Fantasy Football League–In this, you join a group of other team owners, and you draft a make-believe team of real NFL players.  Each week throughout the NFL season, your “team” plays another “team” from your league, and whoever’s team scores more points wins the game.  In order to not get lost in the massive world of fantasy football, you MUST create a team with an original and thoughtful name.  Since no one wants to give their team a name that makes it sound like it will lose every week, those names are very thoughtful and up for grabs.  I encourage you to use these kinds of team names.  Some names that have never been used  are “The Losers, “The Underdogs”, “The Throwbacks, or “The Chiefs”.

MMORPG–Also known as the mouthful of “Massively Multi-Player Online Role Playing Game”, this is where nerds go after they get off work.  It works basically like this: every person in the game has a character that he or she (everyone knows girls don’t like video games; they just like cooking and vacuuming) controls within an online world.  They all run about, battling orcs, collecting treasure, and asking one another “r u a girl? wanna im?”.  Of course, these are all pointless goals, as defeating orcs online will not yield any real prestige, collecting online treasure will produce no real bounty, and talking to a 40-year-old man pretending to be an 18-year-old girl will produce no opportunities at love.  Surely, this is an exercise in futility.

eBay–A website that allows users to buy and sell real goods or services to others around the world.  Many times, the items are purchased using an “online auction” system, which works just like a live auction.  In an online auction, as in a live auction, one bidder will place a base bid for an item, another bidder will bid above the first bidder, the first bidder will send a hateful e-mail to the second bidder, the second bidder will send a virus to the first bidder, thereby eliminating competition.  The item is won in two bids, every time.

Viral Video–A term reserved for videos that make their way quickly across the Internet and into the homes of unsuspecting families.  A great example of this is the “Leave Britney Alone” video that made its way across YouTube (I do not recommend its viewing, as the very sight of it will cause your eyes to boil in your head and leak out your ears).  Another, less popular, viral video is the “Daft Hands” video.  I encourage you to watch this.  It totally makes the song better.  Viral videos are rampant in the sports world, and as many times as I would like to see any assorted high school running back hurdle over a defender, I’m just not impressed any more.

I know this is a little old, but I like this video. It is a testament to both the beautiful creativity and the intriguing plasticity of the human mind.
