This girl took longer than expected to create. Since I saw LAQ’s Alva skin, I had the idea to design a shape emanating gentleness with a soft, youthful appearance. She had to be both realistic and idealized, suggesting the nostalgic sense of the eternal youth.

My first shape based on a MG skin was an anime inspired, dolly type – Bomi.

This time around I was striving for a slightly more realistic, feminine and somewhat idealized look, inspired by some of my favourite models. (Think Gemma Ward, Lily Cole and perhaps Natalia Vodianova, with their youthful fresh appearance.)

Sasha is a stunning glamour model. She features a sultry fit body, young realistic face and the attitude of an accomplished girl.

I’ve just created yet another shape that comes in 2 face options, 8 body type each, as always. This is my third shape with 2 faces – the others are Linnea and Olivia.

She was inspired by the elegance and royalty of the 1960s retro beauties. I called her Bridgette – as a tribute to the famous French actress and model Brigitte Bardot.

Features:

• feminine and sultry body, with a thin waist and wider hips.
• slender and toned legs
• breasts with a natural form.

This time, the 2 faces are completely different from each other.

Both faces feature:

• beautifully slanted eyes
• voluptuous lips
• thin elegant nose.

Differences:

• Bridgette f1 option (face 1) has a wider square-ish face form with a lower jaw-line and wider eyes. She has a more refined, model-type look.
• Bridgette f2 option (face 2) features a narrower heart-shaped face structure, an upturned nose, narrower eyes and fuller lips. She has an overall sweeter baby-face look.

I used one of my favourite skins of all time to design Bridgette – Tess by LAQ. In case you’ve missed it, I have yet another shape for this skin – Poppy, which is an anime doll type.

I made it again – I created a shape with 2 face options. I was smitten with the need to make a choice and I couldn’t. So, I added both of the faces in the shape pack. This – adding 2 face options – might be the tendency for my future shape releases. (In case you don’t know, the first shape with 2 face options that I released was Linnea.)

Overall, Olivia is an innocent and sweet looking type of a girl, with childlike appearance. Still, her pouty face suggests she is not naïve and there is something dramatically provoking in her character.

I created her ultimate body slim and tender to match her face features. But in case you prefer more curvaceous and feminine type of bodies, or the ultra high look, she comes again in 8 body types for each face option.

So, it’s 2 faces X 8 body types each.

The common between the 2 faces: narrow slanted eyes, pouty voluptuous lips and salient cheekbones.

The difference:

Olivia f1 option (f1 stands for face 1) has a wider chin, thinner upturned nose and lower cheekbones. Olivia f1 has a more feminine look.
Olivia f2 option (f2 means face 2) has a thinner chin, slightly wider and downturned nose, more curved eyes, higher cheekbones and narrower lips with more pronounced cleft.
Olivia f2 is the one with the definitive childlike look.

For this one I used the new Linnea skin by LAQ.

I wanted to create an innocent and sweet-looking, yet sensual and provoking type of girl. Her body is feminine and sultry (in the beginning I used to make more skinnier looks, but now I prefer more rounded ones). As for the face, I came up with two designs that I liked so much I couldn’t choose between.

So, I decided to include them both in the shapes pack. Each of them also comes with 8 body types, as usual.

• Linnea f1 option (f1 stands for face 1) has voluptuous lips, wide childlike nose and beautifully curved eyes.
• Linnea f2 option (f2 simply means face 2) features a thinner nose, more slanted eyes and changed lips form.

How come I ended with two faces this time?

I could say something about the shapes creating process. This one deserves a whole blog post, and even a long one.

But in a nutshell, this is how I do it.

I start with the skin I want to design a shape for, and with a shape I already have – the one I think fits the skin next to the best (for the moment).  I used to start from a Linden template before, but I find the new method more rewarding and producing far better results.

Then, having this basis to upgrade upon, I make slight or drastic changes in the form of the face, the eyes, the mouth etc. As soon as I reach some outcome that satisfies me, I save the new shape with the name of the skin it’s designed for (for example, Linnea shape).

Then I could say to myself, “Wait, what about fuller lips?” or “What about more slanted eyes?” Thus, I make the desired tweaks. This time I save the shape again, with a new name giving a hint about the change I’ve made – for example, “Linnea shape slanted eyes”.

This way I may save 5-6 shape options, sometimes even more. Then I give myself a day or at least a few hours before I have a fresh look at the shape and make a decision which of its variations with be the final (or the ultimate) one.

Usually I decide in favour of one of the shape options, but this time I simply couldn’t decide. I even asked a friend about her opinion, she said she loved them both. Then I said to myself, “Hey, why not give both face options to the customers this time?”

And I did it.

• The first and the third models wear Linnea f2, and the second and the fourth models wear Linnea f1.

Furthermore, this loose shirt costs only 100 lindens, can you imagine! And it’s perfect for girls with smaller bust sizes. Otherwise the chest prim of the shirt is going to stay a bit open and you’ll need to resize it.

Since I saw Trinity vampire skin by Redgrave for the first time, I knew I had to design a shape for it.  I was astonished by its subtle glow and possibility for achieving perfection. It took me almost half a year to create the “ultimate” shape for this skin. It was my perfectionism again, standing in the way and preventing me from delivering earlier.

• I see Trinity as a sophisticated and stylish vampiress. She is known for her refined manners, pompadour coiffure and exquisite lifestyle. She is interested in high fashion and modern gothic culture.

While I was in the process of making it, I was thinking about things like elegance, sophistication, refinement and finesse. These ideals were guiding my aesthetic decisions while I was also choosing the hair, dress and overall style for Trinity’s presentation.

The choice of hair was easy. I wanted an up-do hairstyle, openly displaying the face, yet falling gracefully and framing softly its features. SHOP SEU’s pompadour hair is one of the tried and truly impressive hair-dos which make a strong statement. I use it for one of my all time best-selling shapes – Mona – and clients have shown lots of interest in this styling.

• Again, as in Mona’s face, I put the accent on her lips. It took a while to make them in such a way so that they could express my ideas of refinement and  delicacy. Actually, for me the lips are the hardest part to model of all the face features, have you experienced that?

It took some time to figure out how to dress her. I wanted to go beyond the traditional gothic and vampire styling, think of Morticia Addams and the like. I was striving for a more modern, refined and contemporary look. What about a vampiress who is interested in high fashion, for example? I was looking for a new gothic look à la Yves Saint Laurent.

I googled lots of phrases with no desired effect whatsoever. Somehow it occurred to me to type in “second life steampunk” and eventually I came across this blog post in Uma’s Style diary. It’s a shame the author is not blogging anymore, because this blog is an abundant source of styling inspiration. It turns out that LeLutka had exactly what I was looking for. In its store Ultra section one has a good choice of high fashion inspired attire.

• To obtain some artistic asymmetry in Trinity’s look, I added the fur/feather arm accessory that is part of the ALB AUDREY outfit by Analee Balut. I used only the left arm part of the fur, so that it completes well the pompadour hair falling on the right shoulder.

So I made Poppy.

She is inspired by the anime girls’ look and the fashion dolls in the contemporary pop culture (think My Scene, Bratz and the like). She balances both innocence and sassiness, seductiveness and childish playfulness. Her features are:

• dramatic slanting eyes
• puffy pouty lips
• doll face form
• distinctive emotive face expression
• sultry body

The choice of her name is not random. Poppies are one of the prettiest flowers, fragile by touch and seductive by colour. Hence the name Poppy suits her ambivalent nature best.

Note that I had previously designed only two non-realistic shapes: Belle and Monique; Poppy becomes the third one.  All of them have the exaggerated face features which are common for the anime & dolly styles I was striving to replicate;  at the same time the three of them are very different looking. Lately I try to create shapes who have certain features and backgrounds, are alive and breathing and not simply bodies without “character”. Tasha is inspired by the power women in comic books, especially the Black Cat superheroine. The main source I used for reference was this image by xplixit I found on deviantart:

I even tried to find exactly the body suit that the Black Cat wears for the screenshots, and after some research I chose this one from Graves:

Tasha has a strong, athletic, yet feminine and voluptuous body build, with curvy thighs and sassy booty. But, for the clients who prefer skinnier body build, as always there are leaner bodies in the shape pack I offer for purchase (as some of you should know, I sell all my shapes in packs of 8 to 13 different bodies).

My choice of hairstyle though is far from the comics image, I decided to use a 60s style big hair (complicated to stylize and keep stylized) to illustrate a certain idea. I tried to imply the character’s double lifestyle; she may be the perfect housewife by day, the stunning party host lady in the evenings, and a glorious invincible superheroine by night.

The hair is Doris by DBS.

The eyes are the same I used for Marie, and are included with the purchase of Tasha.

I wanted to make a modern version of the historical figure Marie Antoinette, the way I imagine her in our epoch. I believe that the real Marie Antoinette actually much more resembled a plump and well-rounded lady of a piece by Rubens than Kirsten Dunst.

For my aspirations though the latter version was more appropriate. The other contemporary embodiment of Marie Antoinette in the pop culture I used as inspiration was the Bulgarian pop-folk singer Emanuela in one of her videos (WARNING! This music is profane mass pop folk – turn off the sound if you have refined music taste).

Her tender and frail body build was exactly what I imagined to be perfect for the present-day Marie Antoinette.

For a long time I’ve also had plans to create a shape using a skin by Pulse. Lorac Farella creates skins with a gentle and delicate type of beauty, which was exactly what I needed to express my ideas. The face of Marie as I see it should balance innocence and sensuality in a specific way, which the Honey/DREAM skin achieves.

The dress I decided to use for the shot of the shape is Marie by LIKKA HOUSE. It has just enough of the modern flair I strive for through the front opening and the bare knees it exposes.

The choice of the hair for the showcase of the shape wasn’t that easy. I wanted a tall, big and sophisticated hairdo with a lot of volume, curls and embellishments. Preferably – in blond, silver or white colour. I tried many alternatives until I finally took a decision.

The first hair I tried was Diorsis Hair – Francheska.

I think it is amazing, has the curls and the tall-ness, the only thing I didn’t find appropriate was the fringe that hides the forehead, and I wanted as much of the face as possible to be clearly visible. (By the way, while I was there at the Diorsis shop, I received a very cool hairstyle as a gift from the letter board. And it wasn’t a discounted or a freebie hair, it was the new Sara hair that has a regular price of 295 L$.)

The second place I checked for the hairstyle I was looking for was Sky Everett Designs. I tried the very popular Cerdwin Rococo style in Silver.

While I was there, I also decided to try The Wayward Dutchess hairstyle.

The Dutchess hair is to-die-for. The hair-dress is to-die-for double. If there was another colour option, I would have taken it.

There’s also this place called ZsaZsa’s House of Beauty. ZsaZsa Withnail provides wigs and accessories for drag queens. What about the Zsazsa’s Victoria Wig in pink?

Fascinating colours, but a little bit too much, isn’t it?

So let’s move quickly to my ultimate hair choice – Antoinette by Curl Up and Dye Salon.

This one has everything I was looking for.
