Mondays really suck.

I didn’t finish my computer science programs sunday night, so I ditched math and physics lecture to finish my homework. I’m going to do my cs lab right after finishing this entry, I need to not do that again.

Had lunch. Three instant noodles don’t cut it, but its the best I can do for the time that I have.

In my upper divison Eng. Econ class we learned about simple interest. I am one of two freshmen. I really don’t know what to think. I haven’t got the book yet, which is a problem. I’ll do that today after cs lab.

After class I synced up the cordless phone with google voice, so my new number is (805) 409-0167.
That number will ring my gizmo (computer), dorm telephone (physical handset tied to the pptn network), and cell phone.

Alvin came over and crashed. We got Korean food and Alvin was too tired to perform a 8 squad assault on 2 different nationalities of soldiers.

Lauren’s parents freaked, as predicted and she just had to yell. Not that I didn’t anticipate this, but I always feel like I’m always walking her through damage control. I don’t blame her, that brown fuck that thinks he’s her “dad” really needs to cut her some slack.

Talked with svetlana =D

Monday, 28 Desember 2009, I attended a super seminar performed by Mario Teguh in Sabuga (Sasana Budaya Ganesha). I knew the information through a invitation to an event, sent by a friend who works in Rumah Zakat Indonesia, which is partnered with Mario teguh to held this super seminar for teachers.

Arrived at Sabuga, I was surprised that there were long queues to get entrance pass. There were also another lines of queuing to pay some amount of money to get the book and CD. Met some old good friends there (ooh, how I miss them much). This super seminar for teachers was being held in Bandung for the first time. Later, other cities will be visited by Mario Teguh where he will perform another super seminar for teachers.

It was a good seminar, that motivates us to do our best as teacher and teach our pupils with their full potential. Meanwhile, as a teacher we have to keep our dream and do our best too to reach that dream. Do not hesitate to dream. Dream a big one, and that will drive us to do harder to reach the dream. I like that. Since I still have many dreams that I want to make it true. And one of the dream is … I want to be a better teacher, a super teacher. Insya Allah.

University of Missouri system students and staff have varied opinions of UM System Gary Forsee’s letter to US Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer, urging him to oppose “clean energy” bills. Forsee’s letter stated that the passage of these bill could cost the university system millions of dollars.

Finally, the third and the most backbreaking semester (yet) has come to an end. As for academics, well my cg has improved ever so slightly. I have moved out of the 8.6 bracket and scored an 8.7755 this semester. It would have been better if I hadn’t missed an 8 in EEL 201 (Digital Electronics) by a whisker. I do take some plus points from this sem. I finally have a steady quizzing team (me, Sidharth and Gaurav aka Gainda) and we have started making the cut in most non-comp events in IITD. And, my pool skills showed vast improvement towards the end of this sem. Also, I have put on some weight this semester, though I still think it is not enough for people to start calling me pregnant.

Anyways, after a grueling December, i have finally found time to update my blog, maybe i will make this a daily thing this vacations. So here goes the first of my daily digest :

I’d start off with what I love the most when I come home i.e eating and sleeping. So, after sleeping for more than 10 hours, I had my favorite Dal Parathas for breakfast, complete with malai and milk. For lunch, I had authentic Punjabi Sarson ka Saag and Makki ki roti, with adrak ka achar and gur (just thinking of it is making my mouth water). And dinner, was of awesome seviyan that i ate too much of for my own good. The rest of the day was interspersed with me having generous doses of pinniyan.

Ok, now for the rest of the day. First, found out that for some reason internet is not working on my ubuntu even though it is connected to the wireless network. Maybe, i will fix that tomorrow. Then spent the morning and afternoon watching season 1 of The Bing Bang Theory. Really liked the characters-ultimate nerdy. Sheldon is a real laugh. Though Raj has stereotype written all over him. Will catch up with the rest of the episodes in the days to come.

Read some linear algebra in the evening. Hopefully, will be done with binomial forms in a couple of days. Will start with Hilbert spaces after that. The night was spent writing this entry and chatting with friends.

I think that I beginning to like the pattern emerging. Maybe I will add a nap in the afternoon. I’d like to time it to match the hour long power cut. Thats all for today.

ToDo for tomorrow:

Wake up for gym

Solve internet problem in Ubuntu

Get a haircut

Register for TOEFL

Start with Bilinear Forms

Start looking for summer interns

Its a tradition among the elders of the Wancho tribe of Arunachal to blacken their teeth by chewing some special herbs and roots found in that region. They believe that the blacker their teeth, the beautiful they look and the stronger they are! Apparently, it was believed that only wild animals and evil spirits had white teeth and this tradition was also followed in other South-east Asian countries, including Vietnam. Read more..

My mother passed away on 7th November after hospitalized for more than two weeks, struggled with stroke that paralyzed her. I was off from school for several days, leave my poor students (and colleagues, for sure). Why poor? Because I am the only Art teacher, other teacher could not replacing my work. How would they teach the students to sing when they don’t know the song, yet sing the song “correctly”? How would they teach the students to make such an artwork when they don’t know the method on making the artwork?

Well… anyway, my colleagues teacher could find another program so my students still do some activities when I was off from school. They make greeting cards for me and my late mother. Those are such beautiful works. They made it beautifully, and it represent the students’ feeling, their empathy for me, their teacher. Thank you, my dear students (and colleagues, for sure)

Ideally I would do church administrative projects, charitable projects,180 and every other thing I am engaged in, in my own personal time. I’m a very “one kind” type of person- I know, Uncle tells me, Slim tells me and some others have too. When I’m asked to do something, like most people, I’d rather not do it if I am going to do a substandard job. So when I say “personal time” I mean uninteruppted, not just rushing back in from work, church etc etc. Just uninhibited time. I feel like I cheat a project when I don’t give it timelines, a proper project management xls (because I learnt from someone I want to use it at every opportunity-lol!) and a block of uninhibited time. I think I could do it all so much better under the perfect conditions. Alas I lack perfect conditions. Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant. If they watch every cloud, they never harvest. Eccl 11:4 Did anybody else ever do that science project at home? Plant a seed in a cup full of soil, you water it diligently, it has it’s own light, shade etc, perfect surroundings- till your little brother knocks it over. Till that event it grows. Well the seeds that a farmer plants, there is no guarantee of every single one growing- crows, insects, harsh weather conditions- there is no perfect condition, but the farmer must sow. So as I and some others peeps around me have seen- there is no perfect time- but the right time might indeed be now. As the “Guv” says “now sow some seed”…

Towson University’s Daily Digest provides student and faculty with information and events occurring around campus.
On November 11, 2009- a post titled NAME THAT BUS! was posted, curious to see what it was about I followed a link for more information, and this is what I found.

“The Collegetown Shuttle is primarily successful because of the students who ride it. So, doesn’t it make sense for you to have input on the name of the bus? The Collegetown Shuttle will ALWAYS be called the Collegetown Shuttle, but, we’re looking to change the names of the Red Line and Blue Line. Yes, it’s a transit service, but that doesn’t mean the names can’t have a student or Baltimore twist to them.

Click on the link and submit your idea to rename the lines. If your suggestion is chosen, then you will win a $50 gift card to a Baltimore hotspot. Two other finalists will win a $25 gift card to a Baltimore hotspot. Please only one entry per person. “

How exciting! If you have any good ideas, maybe you can win one of the prizes!

These girls are refered to as the ‘first generation learners’ simply because no one from their previous generations has ever gone to school. I don’t quite like the word because I dont agree with this concept! Having stayed in their tribal village ‘Mozda’ I know for sure that the knowledge and wisdom of this community is far superior than most of the people like us who’ve been through formal education!

I spent quite some time observing these kids pickup a poly-bag with some left-over meal in it. Both of them seemed really hungry and nibbled on some crumbs bit by bit. When there was a last chunk of bread left, the elder one happily offered it entirely to the little one, without hesitating a bit. It made me sit back and think that all of us were selfless as kids but somewhere in the process of growing up, this innocence disappears and gets overpowered by greed.

Deary me, my social (media) life has gone somewhat downhill of late! I am officially horrendous at keeping in touch with you my internet world…

I’ve had a tremendously busy couple of weeks (or months, I cant keep count anymore!). I actually thought the time was 9pm as I’ve only just sat down after getting in from work and putting the tea on – but infact it is 10:49pm – woe is me indeed!

I just thought I’d write a quick catch up blog before, well, bedtime really!

Basically, I’ve been working hard and playing harder! Theres been fancy dress, fireworks and actual FIRE… and some lovely flowers too. Man, it’s been ‘fabulous’ for more of a better ‘f’ word. AMAZING. Anywhoo, I would post some pic’s but I’m currently being selective with my face (and my friends faces for that matter) and the internet. Just because there are some unkind folk who would prefer to have an over active imagination and not think about getting caught in the act. LOLZ indeed. But this is by-they-by.

Lots of exciting fashionable stuff going on at work and home. I have lots of recent purchases to share and restaurants to critque!

But for now, I am off to bedfordshire for I am shattered!

Goodboo.
