Qualche anno fa ho partecipato ad un corso di fotografia digitale e il docente mi ha fatto riflettere molto sul tipo di sguardo che un fotografo dovrebbe adottare per ogni genere di foto (panorama, ritratto, ecc.), portando dei validi esempi che non conoscevo.

Ora ogni volta che fotografo qualcosa, non posso fare a meno di pensare a chi ha fatto veramente della fotografia un’arte; nulla di presuntuoso da parte mia, ma è certo che se si conoscono i “punti di vista” di chi sa fotografare, magari alla lunga qualcosa si può migliorare ed io di strada ne ho molta da fare.

Ecco perchè ho voluto tenermi archiviata una piccola ricerca sui grandi artisti del passato, che hanno saputo utilizzare la fotografia per esprimere un loro pensiero, utilizzando sicuramente anche strumenti che oggi si potrebbero definire pionieristici.

Gjon Mili

Ha scoperto l’effetto luce nelle fotografie, famose le sue foto con la partecipazione di Picasso mentre dipinge le sue opere con una torcia elettrica.

La sua tecnica è di dipingere con la luce la pellicola, lasciando il soggetto al buio, aprendo l’obbiettivo e facendo disegnare qualcosa con una fonte luminosa, alla fine un colpo di flash per fissare il tutto.

Robert Doisneau (sito ufficiale)

Il suo nome viene ricordato soprattutto per le foto riguardanti la vita di strada della capitale francese, caratterizzate da una sincera e umoristica rappresentazione della società e dell’ambiente parigino.

Doisneau amava immortalare la cultura dei bambini della strada e dei loro giochi, arrivando a conferire alle loro attività, seppur infantili, rispetto e serietà.

Steve Mc Curry

Definito il fotografo dell’anima, famosissima la sua foto di copertina del National Geographic di una ragazzina afgana di circa 14 anni conosciuta casualmente in un campo profughi afgano nel 1985, ritornata in auge nel 2001, quando scoprì la ragazza cresciuta (“Passaggio in Italia“).

Sushi, nie sushi, jedna, druga , trzecia kafejka, i jeszcze kilka galerii bursztynu. Gdzieś ponad linią horyzontu unoszące się kolejne poziomy dumnych apartamentów, a w powietrzu zapach wody, który chciałby być zapachem morza.

Ostatnio, gdy tamtędy szłam, padało. A ja w powietrzu czułam zapach migdałowców i myślałam o tym, czy Polska może być dla kogoś tak egzotyczna, jak dla nas kraje Ameryki Południowej. Ugrzęzłam w Marquezie, znowu, znowu i tylko kolejna miłość na całe życie może mnie uratować.

Tracę myśl, polskie bary sushi, polskie sushi… Antykwariat. Wyrasta na Długim Pobrzeżu i mimo, że wiem, że on tam gdzieś jest, za każdym razem wydaje mi się bytem irracjonalnym, jakby nie miał prawa tam istnieć. Bo i dla kogo?

Ja wchodzę tylko czasem, z tego samego powodu, dla którego nieczęsto odwiedzam księgarnie – bo to taki sklep ze słodyczami, na których większość można sobie tylko popatrzeć, zaostrzając niebezpiecznie apetyt. Ostatnio nigdzie się nie spieszyłam, a na wystawie świeciła książka jednego z moich wykładowców. Weszłam więc do dusznego pomieszczenia, tak małego, że zbiory aż się z niego wysypywały; książki, ustawiane jedna na drugiej torowały przejście, z każdej półki, z każdego kąta wysypywały się jakieś ryciny i mapy. Pośród nich, ledwie widoczna, niska kobieta w okularach, tak zajęta wczesnym tomem wierszy Miłosza, że na moje ochrypłe dzień dobry odpowiedziała tylko podniesieniem wzroku i przewróceniem pożółkłej strony.

Wyszłam po pięciu minutach z albumem Dalego w twardej oprawie, wydanym przed dwu laty i chyba nigdy nieotworzonym przez właściciela. Na okładce cudowne i flagowe rozpływające się zegary, w środku – surrealistyczne niebo. Dali to jeden z tych artystów, o którym mówią, że nie można przejść obok niego obojętnie; albo się go kocha, albo nienawidzi. Co czy można przejść obojętnie obok człowieka, który „opowiadał, że jako dziecko spędzał samotnie długie godziny w domowej pralni, siedząc w bali pełnej wody; sypiał nagi ze swoją matką; dawał do zrozumienia, że z siostrą Aną Marią łączyło go coś więcej niż braterska miłość”? (Salvador Dali, Poznań, 2007).  Część opowiadań należy chyba włożyć między bajki, wierzyć należy tylko w jego obrazy, które są pełnym i pewnym świadectwem umysłu i ręki mistrza, który już w wieku 25 lat był przekonany o swoim geniuszu.

Teraz kilka wczesnych dzieł Salvadora (1904 w Figueras na katalońskim Costa Dorada- 1989 w Figueras). I ciekawostki: w dzieciństwie perfumowano mu głowę (podobno dzieci ustawiały się w kolejkach, żeby ją powąchać), a matka i babka uwielbiały chłopca na tyle,  że we wszystkim go wyręczały. W wieku sześciu lat chciał być kucharką, zaś siedmiu – Napoleonem. Od dziecka przejawiał talent plastyczny, a gdy zarzucono mu, że namalowane przez niego wiśnie nie mają szypułek, nastoletni Salvador po prostu je dokleił. Po szkole rysunku trafił do Akademii Sztuk Pięknych San Fernando, gdzie szybko dał się poznać jako kontrowersyjna postać. Więcej rewelacji i dojrzała twórczość Dalego – w następnej notce.

La bella y talentosa hija de Serge Gainsbourg y Jane Birkin ha tenido un excelente año. Primero ganó la palma de Oro en Cannes por su actuación en Antichrist y además la intensa experiencia que vivió en el rodaje de la cinta la llevaron a hacer su tercer disco, titulado IRM, y producido por Beck (este carajo en serio no para)

El primer video promocional está dirigido por Keith Schofield (vean en su página las genialidades que ha hecho), se titula Heaven Can Wait y es una JOYA!

pd: Es idea mia o a Beck se le están notando los añitos ya?

La edad de oro (L’age d’or) es una película surrealista del director español Luis Buñuel, autor del guión con Dalí, producida por el vizconde de Noailles, marido de Marie Laure, el amor ultimo de Oscar Dominguez. La película, que ataca con virulencia a la sociedad burguesa y a sus guardianes, curas y policías, fue considerada la película “maldita” en Tenerife. La anunciada su proyección produce una tensión muy fuerte entre Gaceta de Arte y la representación conservadora católica de la sociedad tinerfeña, que logra del Gobierno su prohibición. La película se proyectará al año siguiente, en mayo del 36, si bien en sesión privada, a pesar de que el gobierno en la España del momento era el del Frente Popular.

La cinta de La edad de oro se perdió después de una proyección en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Parece que quedó en manos de un alemán, muy interesado por el nuevo cine, que, temeroso ante el estallido de la Guerra Civil española, enterró la película cerca de su casa, en un lugar quizá hoy ocupado por los cimientos de algún edificio.

Me encanta buscar aquí, en el Jardín de Las Hespérides, conexiones inesperadas con uno de mis queridos Maestros de cine.

Ja nu är jag officiellt med i den hemliga gruppen på jobbet. Vi hade en jättetrevlig kväll. Vi började kvällen på Moderna museet där vi såg utställningen av Salvador Dalis verk. Vilka fascinerande målningar. Jag blev imponerad av hans märkliga detaljer i sina verk. Undra hur många hästar han hade hemma

Efter det besöket så åkte vi hem till en kollega där vi blev bjudna på mat och dryck. Så himla gott och vilken härlig inredning hon hade i sin lägenhet. Hög mysfaktor. Efter middagen så blev det en kort ritual med sång och uppläsande av klubbens stadgar och därefter när jag tackade ja till att vara med i klubben så skålade vi i champagne. Nu är vi 7 medlemmar i denna klubb. Inför nästa umgänge så funderade vi att ta med oss en guide från matkaravanen och strosa runt i Stockholm. Det turen går ut på är att man vandrar, doftar och provsmakar mat från olika kulturer och regioner i ca två timmar. Låter kul tycker jag.

Två dagar senare dvs i torsdags så var jag på bio med en kollega och såg Disneys film “En julsaga”-i 3d. Filmen var helt ok. Hade dock ingen aning om att den var animerad. Den första kvarten satt jag på helspänn dels av alla människor runt omkring mig och dels av känslan att sitta och titta på en 3d film. Paniken lurade runt hörnet men efter ett par minuter så kunde jag slappna av och njuta av filmen.

På jobbet har det varit mer än hysteriskt. Jag hade en kurs att ta hand om och försöka hitta boende samt restaurang och se till att all material och så vidare finns tillgängligt för 30 kursdeltagare är inte så lätt alla gånger men allt flöt på rätt bra.

Imorgon så ska jag till läkaren och prata om beteendeterapin jag gått igenom. Ja mina vänner 10 veckor har nu gått och jag är klar med terapin. Hur det har gått kan jag berätta för er i ett annat inlägg. På tisdag är det möte med middag på jobbet och på onsdag är det dags för lite gympaträning på friskis. Ja, som ni ser så är mina dagar späckade och jag längtar verkligen till jul och lite vila.

Little Ashes, un producción inglesa rodada en Barcelona, España; Cuenta la historia de tres jóvenes españoles, que en 1922 comienzan sus estudios en la Residencia de Estudiantes de Madrid.

Salvador Dalí (Robert Patttinson), Federico García Lorca (Javier Beltrán) y Luis Buñuel (Matthew McNulty) son tres jóvenes estudiantes con aspiraciones ambiciosas y con ideales revolucionarios. “No hay límites” para el arte, la literatura, ni el amor, cuando las amistades comienzan a transformarse, y el afecto y el deseo rompen los esquemas tradicionales de una sociedad conservadora.

Little Ashes, es una película de bajo presupuesto, dirigida por: Paul Morrison y escrita por: Philippa Goslett, que se estrenó en el año 2008 y que probablemente no llegue a las carteleras nacionales (Sin embargo se puede conseguir por internet) A pesar de que en líneas generales, es un film bastante sencillo, vale la pena verlo pues muestra una parte de la historia que no conocemos o que no hemos visto en la gran pantalla.

Warum träumen wir?

Traum, verursacht durch den Flug einer Biene um einen Granatapfel, eine Sekunde vor dem Aufwachen

Eines gleich vorweg: Diese Frage, die seit Jahrhunderten viele kluge Köpfe beschäftigt, werden wir natürlich keinesfalls mit einem Beitrag beantworten können. Doch wir können uns auf die Spuren eines extravaganten Geistes begeben, der dazu seine ganz eigenen Auffassungen hatte und diese zelebrierte.

Traum oder Trauma?
Wer kennt ihn nicht: Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dalí i Domènech, Marqués de Púbol, den weltberühmten Maler, Bildhauer, Filmemacher und grandiosen Selbstinszenierer. Als einer der Hauptvertreter des Surrealismus entdeckt er sein Hauptsujet in der Welt des Unbewussten, die in den Träumen erscheint. Die Traumbilder Dalís sind derart pedantisch-realistisch dargestellt, dass sie schon wieder beunruhigend real auf uns wirken und nicht ohne Grund “Traumphotographien” genannt werden. Seinem “System” der gelenkten Träume folgend, erteilte er einmal den Rat: “Wenn Sie malen, denken Sie immer an etwas anderes.” Woran aber denkt Dali beim Malen seiner Bilder, die Rückschlüsse auf entweder eine grenzenlose Phantasie, gespeist aus lebendigen Träumen, oder auf Kindheitstraumata nahelegt?

Von Dalís bewegter Kindheit wissen wir, dass zu seinen frühen Eigenheiten Wutausbrüche, Einnässen, Lügen und Tagträume gehören. Der kleine Salvador beschlagnahmt das “Waschzimmer” des Elternhauses, den Dachboden, um darin seine Gedankenschlösser aufzubauen. In seiner Phantasie wird er zum “Weltenherrscher” und malt Bilder auf die Deckel von Hutschachteln. In Dalís Selbstbiografie heißt es: “Im Alter von sechs Jahren wollte ich Koch werden. Mit sieben wollte ich Napoleon sein. Und mein Ehrgeiz ist seither stetig gewachsen.” Die Schulzeit überbrückt er mit Zukunftsträumen, genau wie sein Lehrer Traite, der auch nur in die Schule kommt, um dort zu schlafen.

Als man Dalí – nach einer von ihm selbst überlieferten Anekdote – im Alter von fünf Jahren eine angeschossene Fledermaus mitbringt, beschäftigt er sich innig mit dem neuen Freund, umringt von Gläsern, in denen er sich Marienkäfer und Glühwürmchen hält. In der Waschküche, die er bereits zur Naturforschungsstation umfunktioniert hat, redet er mit der Fledermaus, küsst sie auf den behaarten Kopf und liebt sie mehr als alles andere auf der Welt. Aber schon am nächsten Morgen ist der Schrecken groß, als er die Waschküche betritt und die Fledermaus, noch halb am Leben, von “wahnsinnigen” Ameisen übersät vorfindet: “In ihrem Gesichtchen standen winzige Zähne, gleich denen einer alten Frau.” In einer Kaskade von unüberwindlichen Gefühlen wie Mitgefühl und Ekel führt er sie sodann zu seinem Mund und will sie küssen. Stattdessen beißt er ihr aber beinahe den Kopf ab und wirft sie, vor sich selbst schaudernd, in das mit schwarzen, überreifen Feigen getränkte Waschwasser. Seit damals hat er eine Abneigung gegen schwarze Flecken, die ihn an dieses Erlebnis erinnern. Und doch werden Ameisen zu einem immer wiederkehrenden Motiv in seinen Bildern. Das Trauma lässt ihn wohl nie los und kehrt stets in seinen Träumen zurück.

Das verlorene Paradies
Dalí behauptet zudem, sich an das Leben innerhalb der Gebärmutter zu erinnern. Ob dieses Vorbringen auch nur seiner überaus blühenden Phantasie zuzuschreiben ist (Picasso vergleicht sie nicht ohne Grund einmal mit einem ständig auf Hochtouren laufenden Außenbordmotor) oder doch ein seltener Fall von Traumbewusstsein vorliegt, wissen wir nicht. Jedenfalls unterstützt er dabei Dr. Otto Ranks These, die er in seinem Buch “Das Trauma der Geburt” äußert, dass die Zeit im Mutterleib dem Paradies gleiche und die Geburt damit dem biblischen Mythos vom “Verlorenen Paradies” entspreche. Dalí beschreibt dieses Paradies als warm, unbeweglich, weich, symmetrisch, doppelt und klebrig. Auch hier entsteht eines der für den Künstler charakteristischen Themen.

Spiegeleier auf dem Teller ohne den Teller

Die Spiegeleier, die er zum Beispiel in seinem Bild “Spiegeleier auf dem Teller ohne den Teller” darstellt: Angeblich wurde seine Faszination für derlei unbestimmte Formen freischwebender Spiegeleier, die er sich sein Leben lang bewahrte, durch den Druck der Fäuste in der typischen fetalen Haltung vor seinen Augenhöhlen hervorgerufen. Diese Lichtwahrnehmungen kann man sich auch nach der Geburt vor Augen führen, wenn man bei geschlossenem Lid auf das Auge drückt. Versuchen Sie es einmal! Vielleicht schlummert ja auch in Ihnen ein Surrealist.

They say life is short, and so live every moment to the fullest. Very few of us can really do it and we often give in to the pressures of life. Among the few who I say had the guts to challenge their routine way of life was Arun Veembur.

The first time I met him was five years ago at a press conference held by the Railways at the Bangalore City Railway station. I might have met many reporters at many press conferences, but I don’t know why I so distinctly remember meeting Arun for the first time. Perhaps, it was because of his intelligent questions or the smart way he asked them.

He was reporting for the Deccan Herald then. I was a newcomer into the field and had looked at him in awe at the in depth knowledge he had on railways. His beard, glasses, folded sleeves and a back pack would fool someone into believing that he was another regular youngster in the crowd. Only when you spoke to him you realized that when he started into blank space, which he very often did, he was actually planning to push his limits to excel.

We joined MiD DAY some where around the same time, and he happened to occupy the work station just next to mine. I got to watch him work very closely.

How much ever was the pressure of work, he never got worked up. He not only remained cool, but was witty and humourous even at the toughest moments. He designed page 2, and found hunted for Kannada words and phrases to feature on the page. The same page also has the MiD DAY mate and he had to find them. Some times when he found most of the mates looking the same, he sought my opinion on which mate was better. I should admit he had a fine taste, for he always selected the aesthetic among similar looking bikini clad women. Many may feel, this was a cool job, selecting a hot babe for the page, but even this could not stop Arun from breaking free.

He knew what he wanted from life. The city couldn’t chain him, or the cushy office. He had a path to tread, a road to explore, a mark to leave. He left MiD DAY to travel. Yes, that the reason he gave, “I want to travel the North East,” he said and bid us good bye.

While on his travels in Assam, he heard of the Ledo Road, which was built during the Second World War, by the allies to transport supplies from India to China. The explorer that he was, he moved to China to tread every inch of the road and write a book on it. He made Dali city of Yunnan province in China his home. He went along the road even to the interiors of Myanmar. As always, he had become an expert on the Ledo Road too. At 28, he had accomplished his mission. He had done what his heart willed. He had followed his dream.

On Monday, while hiking in the mountains of Yunnan, he had a fall and died.

Very few people die while living their passion. Arun is again among the very few. I can only say, “Arun I bow before you in admiration. We will miss you and remember you for your break free attitude.”
