Let’s start with last night and move backwards-

1. The Anaheim Duck vs. Phoenix Coyotes game was okay.. My radio decided that when the game started it would have the screechy sound. So my dad helped in the fact that he found a site where I can listen to it. And since there was all this comotion, I missed the whole 1at period. Luckly no one got a goal..

It ended in 3-2 in OT. Vandermeer got 2 and Lombardi got the other. Nice job boys:)

2. Coyotes vs. Dallas Stars was AWESOME! 5-2?! Thank go we got 5 but it would have been nice to just leave it at 5-0. Thanks to Z, Aucoin, FIRST AND SECOND GOALS BY KORPO!, and.. crap. I forgot. But anyways I was happy for Korpo, 1st and 2nd goals same period and game! Well done!

3. Thanksgiving weekend was okay also. I went to El Paso with my parents, aunt and niece (but for my whole life I’ve been convinced that she was my cousin. I was wrong!). Me and my cousin were in my uncle’s room, yes at his parents’ house (my grandparents) he was looking up, let’s just say, not appropriate things on YouTube and besides they BLOCK THAT STUFF! Embarrassing. For him at least.

He broke my dad’s cott and instead of being an adult about it, he blamed it on me and my cousin saying that we were jumping on it! I cried cause my dad said “Great, another thing I buy that gets ruined.” It escaleted into something that wasn’t even funny anymore! My mom called me and told my uncle that I never cry or lie, and I hate that he wasn’t like an adult and just admit it like, “Hey Ed, I’m sorry but I broke your cott.” Adults acting like children are ridiculous.

Right now I’m staying home.. I don’t feel like going to school. And besides I have cramps so that’s not good.

Next games I will be attending!
*VS Calgary Flames
*VS Ottawa Senators
*VS Minnesota Wild
*VS San Jose Sharks

Well, it’s been a busy few weeks since I last wrote. I haven’t abandoned the Stars, I h

Well, it’s been a busy few weeks since I last wrote. I haven’t abandoned the Stars, I haven’t missed watching a game but I haven’t had time to sit down and really write anything either. But today, I have my first day off since I don’t when, and I don’t have anything I have to do. I slept until noon. I can’t remember when I’ve done that. And then the three of us settled down in the living room with the big screen for an entire day of hockey watching. EXCEPT, we have FIOS so we won’t be watching the Stars game on TV. BOO. We have watched the Devils and Sabres win and are now watching the Pens v Islanders. I’m glad the Devils and Sabres won but it didn’t help my fantasy team at all. I have a lot of Flyers including Emery. Bleh. Oh well.

We had a very nice traditional Thanksgiving at Hub’s cousin’s house in Richardson. The food was fabulous. Nothing fancy, just the traditional menu but we love that! There were 16 of us with the Kid being the youngest, so nothing too wild. Just a day full of eating, talking and football. The kids get along really well, so there wasn’t any “when are we going home?” whining either. So really great day over all. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday as well!

The night before we took advantage of the half price sale the Stars were having and bought tickets in the lower bowl for my birthday present. My b-day was Monday. I’m not saying how old I am but JFK was assassinated the day before my first birthday if you want to figure it out. I haven’t looked at the recording of the game yet to see if you could see us. We were 10 rows up from Marty, so I guess it’s possible. We’ll see. It was fun to be so close to the action on the end. I wouldn’t want to sit there all the time because you can’t see the other end worth a darn but it’s great for getting a feel for the intensity of the battles in the corners. As for the game, it was kind of like a mini version of the Stars’ season. It was up, it was down. They did well, then they didn’t. The final minutes in regulation were pretty exciting but OT was not. And I have grown to HATE the Shootout. I don’t know how many we have seen them loose in person this year. Eck. I had a kid sitting next to me who said it wasn’t his first hockey game but that he hadn’t been to one in a long time. So I chatted with him throughout the game explaining various things. He was adorable and about the Kid’s age. I fought the temptation to introduce him to her and say to the Kid, “here, why don’t you sit here and explain it all to him.” I think she would have killed me. I don’t think the young man would have minded too much, since the Kid was looking pretty hip. Oh well.

Since we lost, I’d say my favorite part of the game was getting my new Stars Calendar for 2010. Good Golly! The Stars have out done themselves this time. If you haven’t checked it out yet here is the link to the Stars Home Page. I can’t wait to get it signed. I love having mine up at my office. All the guys like to give me a hard time about it at first and then it’s always the same, they take a second look and go, “Is that signed?” For some reason that always impresses them. I love it!

Ok, I’ve been avoiding talking about the game itself. I think this quote from Andrew’s Dallas Stars Page by Brad Richards, pretty well sums the game up.

“It was a sloppy game. We started out doing what we wanted to do, but for some reason we decided not to do it anymore,” said Stars center Brad Richards, who had two assists in the game. “That’s not how we wanted to play. We started turning pucks over and not doing what we did in the first 10 minutes. We weren’t going to keep them to zero shots for the whole game.”

So frustrating. Also, as to the fight between Ott and Brewer, I couldn’t help myself, I had to checkout the SBNation’s St Louis GDT to see what those clowns had said. It’s like watching a train-wreck over there. I tell myself I’m not going to look but I still do. Apparently according to them, Brewer destroyed Ott. Funny, the fight happened right in front of us and I didn’t see Otter getting destroyed. He skated off with a grin on his face and as far as I could tell unscathed. ** I was so glad to see Otter responding to Brewer’s crosscheck to the back of Otter’s head. Most of the time Otter will just take it and skate away with a grin on his face knowing that he was able to draw the other team into a penalty. This time he gave as good as he got. No matter what the Blues fans might think. I think I’m going to have to write a separate post on how to increase the comment count on DBD, SLB GDT style. It should be fun.

I thought Barchie had a good fight and a good game overall. He hasn’t been doing so well at either of late. We love Barchie at our house as well and feel like he deserves a little love for what he does for this team. And speaking of players we love, how about our Robi! Another slam-bang of a goal for him! So fun! And he and Otter each had ten hits a piece. Imagine what Ott could of done if Brewer hadn’t “destroyed” him. Let’s see what else can I say about the game. Oh, yes. Brad Richards. Hello, B-rad. I continue to be amazed at what he is doing this season. After that last game he is now ranked second in the NHL on assists behind Thornton and fourth over in points. Pretty impressive. Very impressive indeed.

Ok, I’ve saved the best for last. The Brett Hull ceremony. I’m not a very big Hull fan as a GM but as a player he was, well, he was Brett Hull. I must confess that I was getting all emotional when they started following him from the Stars dressing room where he was being congratulated by Lehts and Modano. And then as they followed him down the hall being congratulated by various family and friends. It was pretty cool and then suddenly he stopped at a table, a table which held the one and only Stanley Cup! Which he then picked up and carried out onto the ice. I must say I was completely overcome by it and felt totally ridiculous by being so! It made for an amazing moment. Hull’s speech was perfect and the crowd was great. It was awesome to get to experience it. Thanks to the Stars organization for putting on a great ceremony.

And since I can’t watch the game tonight, I’ll be hanging out on the great Defending Big D site. Come and join us!

**UPDATE — Apparently, Brewer suffered an “upper body” injury when he was “destroying” Steve Ott. HeHeHe.

Top of the morning, hockey fans! Here’s hoping Last week we defended the snow-white virginal honor of one Bill Belichick; this week, I was planning on penning a paean proposing punitive pressure on pumpkin-punching pain perpetrators –head shots have gotz to go– but when my hearing-ear dog Chocolate Satan woke me up this morning, I was reminded of the horrifying abyss that many of you refer to as Turkey Day.

"Hey, are you going to eat that?"

First, a quick history lesson: the origin of Turkey Day comes from our Founding Fathers, who, in remembrance of their harrowing escape from the dank depths of a Turkish prison, solemnly perform the Throttling of the Fat Brown Bird Ritual every year. This demonic ritual annually reminds us of the nightmarish terror of sinewy half-undead forms being tortured by hairy, sweaty hooded men by forcing us to watch the Detroit Lions.

But Turkey Day isn’t just about unspeakable suffering; it’s also about having dinner with your family. Indeed, it’s said that our Founding Fathers refused to sit at the same table with their in-laws unless it was written in-the-law that it was mandatory to do so; many say the choice of turkey as the centerpiece was chosen specifically for it’s bland, taste-free repulsiveness. For many early Pilgrims, an Indian massacre was a welcome respite from awkward family conversation.

But enough about ancient history: this Turkey Day, I’m coming to you live (bet you didn’t think journalists could do that, huh? Well, we can, we simply choose not to for metaphysical reasons) from the table of one Gary Bettman, who has locked his family in a wooden crate on an icefloe and invited some hockey luminaries to share this special day instead.

Me: Thanks for having me over, Gary, I really appreciate the chance to break bread, talk turkey and suck stuffing with you today.

Gary Bettman: No problem, Todd..er… did you bring the black tar heroin like I asked?

Me: (whips out garbage bag full of discarded Target receipts) Got it right here, my friend!!

Gary B.: In that case, Welcome to El Casa de Dolor, my palacial estate, built upon the bleached bones of those that would question my decision-making ability. What do you think?

Me: (glancing around) There’s definitely a lot of stuff in here I’m thinking about stealing.

Gary: I kno–wait, what?

Me: I said, ‘Gary Bettman is a name synonymous with effective, results-driven leadership and shall go down in history with the greatest Napoleon complexes of all time.’

Gary: That’s what I thought! Here, have a seat. (motions me between Chris Pronger and Brian Burke)

Could this finally be the year?

Me: Sweet! ‘Sup, Li’l Chris? What it is, B-Dawg? WOOF!!

(Burke throws a haymaker, Pronger launches an elbow as I duck. They belt each other in the face)

Me: Cool! I’ve always wanted to do that!

Burke: I’d ring-a-ding-ding your coconut, if I could wipe away enough of my own blood to open my eyes!

Pronger: Why are my elbows covered in ketchup again? Is the food here already?

Burke: That’s not ketchup, you imbalanced imbecile! That’s the Blood of Odin that runs through my veins and on to your Members Only jacket!!

Pronger: Actually, it’s a Prongers Only jacket.

Me: Speaking of nosebleeds, where’s the grub? Where are the other guests of honor?

Gary: My enemies are as ruthless as they are dumb. To ensure that those who disobey me do not come near my dinner, I have set up an intricate series of puzzles and quests, which one must solve in order to pass to the Boss Level… where they will face the robotic clone I send in my place to all public speaking engagements, press interviews and Stanley Cup-awarding ceremonies. Then they must answer me these questions thr–

Me: Waitaminute, why I didn’t have to go through any of that?

Gary: Are you challenging me? Next question!

Pronger: Me! Me! Pick me!! Hey! Why do they call it “taking” a dump, when I’m only picking it up to fling it at passing motorists and Red Wing forwards?

Burke: (angrily) So it was YOU that flung feces on my Escalade!! Lemme at ‘im!! (jumps over table, picks up serving spoon and starts going to town on Pronger’s cranium)

Pronger: My brain tickles. I must be thinking about something important.

Gary: Brian!! Cease your truculence this instant!

Burke: (decks Bettman in the chin, starts foaming at the mouth) NEEEAAAAAGGGHHHHGGGG!!

Gary: (twitches on the floor, soils $45,000 pants) Collin… thhhavve me…

Me: That’s my cue. (grabs Burke’s wallet, containing half of Toronto’s salary cap in unmarked $100s) If you guys need me, I’ll be in Tijuana with Thora Birch and four sticks of Land O’ Lakes unsalted butter. Toodles!

Pronger: Ok, bye!

I’ll update the remainder of my Turkey Day from the El Jefe Airlines flight I’m on to parts unknown. Tune in next week when I visit some Pittsburgh-area homeless shelters with Sidney Crosby — their relentless Crys-by taunts may surprise you.

One of the most maddening teams I’ve ever followed continued its up-and-down performance over

One of the most maddening teams I’ve ever followed continued its up-and-down performance over the past couple weeks with a 3-2-1 record since the curbstomping in Columbus. I’ll go at this with a game-by-game approach. The Wings are a different team every night, both literally with all the injuries they have had, and figuratively with the collective effort they bring (or don’t) on a nightly basis.

Red Wings: 3 Canucks: 1 – From my perspective, this was the most impressive game the Wings played in the last two weeks. They were outshot 32-29, but Jimmy Howard looked as good as I’ve ever seen out of him in net. The Wings were the aggressors, out-hitting the ‘Nucks 34-20. Brad May decided to hold his own in a fight (but still fell down I think). Henrik Zetterberg dominated the game, scoring a beauty of a goal for the game-winner.

Red Wings: 7 Ducks: 4 – I wasn’t able to watch this game, but still took part in the post-game festivities thanks to Z’s hat trick. Saturday games are a pain to watch, especially when there’s college football going on. 82 games in the NHL season vs. 12 (or 13 for the good teams) in college football? There’s a reason this game wasn’t on ESPN. And stop being cheap Arby’s. Give me a damn sandwich after a hat trick. Either that, or switch to Little Caesars for this promotion.

Stars: 3 Red Wings: 1 – Brad May almost gets the first Red Wings’ GHHT since this blog’s existence, but it is instead ripped out from underneath him by Dennis LaRue. Yeah, May still needed an assist too, but that call was absolutely criminal. The Wings didn’t play well enough to win, but the NHL’s handling of that call was a joke. It’d be like your dentist winning a lawsuit because he “intended to numb your mouth” before performing a root canal.

Panthers: 2 Red Wings: 1 (OT) – I didn’t watch this game either, but apparently Ozzie let in a softy in OT and the Wings reverted to their old ways for one game. Via Snipe Snipe, Dangle Dangle:

What I learned:
Having twice as many shots on goal as your opponent does not mean that you will win a hockey game.

Red Wings: 3 Canadiens: 2 (2-1 SO) – Yes the Wings won, but I’m fairly certain 99.9% of Wings fans would have gladly taken a 5-0 loss instead of an overtime win and an injured Kronwall. George LaRaque was given a 5-game suspension for the knee-to-knee hit. It’s not entirely fair that he misses 5 games while Kronner misses a couple of months, but had it been the other way around I wouldn’t be complaining too much. More importantly, I discovered another reason why my girlfriend is a keeper: she texted me score updates while I was at the store purchasing goodies for my social gathering later in the evening.

Predators: 3 Red Wings: 1 – A poor effort by the Wings yet again when they’re on Versus. Seriously, when is the last time they won when the game was on that channel? The lack of Ken Daniels, Mickey Redmond, and Larry Murphy in the building definitely had something to do with the Wings’ poor effort last night. On the other side, the Predators seemed to be playing at a playoff-like intensity. Without a doubt, last night will be one of their top-5 best efforts of the season and they still weren’t able to put away a half-asleep, injury-depleted Red Wings squad.

Overall, the Wings have regressed a bit since they destroyed the Blue Jackets, but the loss of Kronwall for a couple months is yet another huge blow to a team already devastated by injuries. The Wings are back in action tomorrow night against the Atlanta Thrashers.

I’m not sure how much posting I’ll be doing over the holiday weekend, but at the very least I’ll have recaps for the Wings, Lions, and Pistons up by the end of the week. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Before we launch into tonight’s open thread, we have a few thoughts:

1. You know what sounds really disgusting? Having a broken — or even partially broken — kneecap. Zubrus has our sympathy, at least when we’re not throwing up from how disgusting that sounds.

2. One of the reasons we love this time of year is that we cash in all our credit card reward points and spend it all on Williams Sonoma Christmas candies. The crown jewel of those candies is the Peppermint Hot Chocolate, and last night we broke into our stash, thereby officially kicking off the holiday season at stately IPB Manor.

We aren’t complete Christmas freaks, though — we only staged this photo on that “5 Golden Rings” dessert plate because we just bought it and haven’t found a cupboard place for it. It was sitting on the counter, and it was closing in on midnight, and we hadn’t taken our 365 picture for the day. We’re just lazy.

So when we bought the hot chocolate, we decided that it was going to be a couple of weeks before we were going to get around to making marshmallows, so it made sense to buy some of the gourmet marshmallows Williams Sonoma sells. We had to choose between chocolate and vanilla flavored ones, and opted for vanilla. As it turns out, they did not taste like vanilla. You know what’s even more disgusting than a broken kneecap? Peppermint hot chocolate with butterscotch marshmallows.

3. We kind of had no idea the Devils were playing the Stars tonight. WOO HOOO! Patty and Myra and Hub and the Kid are all gonna be cryin’ into the butterscotch/peppermint hot chocolate Gatorade of losers tonight, while we drink deep from the flagon of Champagne of winners.*

*Or vice versa. We’ll see.

Top of the morning, hockey fans! Here’s hoping the Stars‘ loss to the Phoenix Tippetts didn’t drive you to an early grave; indeed, when the Stars surrendered a goal in the first and last minutes of the second period in that game, a wave of nostalgia for the Tippett Regime swept over me like a bunch of trains and skyscrapers, and I started crying –although it may have been because I was chopping onions and listening to Morrissey records at the time. Ah, Tipp, we’ll miss those competent-for-57-minutes games…. or will we?

Above: Former Stars coach Dave Tippett silently offs Stars center Mike Ribeiro

Last week we delved deeply into the dark depths of depravity –i.e., the NFL– with my Unfounded 4th-and-99 Insanity Theory. This week, I was planning on railing incoherently on the Stars in all-caps (FIRE NEAL HE SUX), but in lieu of last night’s impressive road victory over the surging Detroit Red Wings, it’s come to many observers’ attention that we may, finally, have every 600-level fan’s dream. No, not a pay-per-view zero-G Ice Girls honey-wrestling battle royale (not yet), but the one thing that’s eluded fans of all but a handful of teams over the past decade: a Goalie Controversy.

After Alex Auld stoned the once-potent Detroit attack (including ending their incredible run of 50% powerplay effectiveness in recent games) –and considering Turco’s lifelong troubles winning there– it may be time to consider giving him a slight increase in ice time, somewhere in the range of 73-77 games’ worth. To discuss this intelligently, I’ve brought a panel of professional experts –Andy Moog, Eddie Belfour, Mike Ditka, Vladislav Tretiak, Ken Dryden, Stephen Hawking and Darryl Reaugh– to weigh the possibilities of a goalie change in net for the Dallas Stars.

Me: Gentlemen, thanks for coming.

Professional Experts: (everyone jibber-jabbers at once)

Me: So, gentlemen, do the Stars have a ‘goalie controversy’?

Professional Experts: Nope.

(three minutes of awkward silence)

(Ditka coughs)

Stephen Hawking: HEY, ARE YOU GOING TO EAT THAT?

Me: Security!!

So that’s that then. More to the point, the sports world is all abuzz about something marginally related to hockey: New England Patriots Czar Bill Belichick’s decision to “go for it” on 4th-and-2 from his own 28 yard line in the final minutes against the Colts. As some of you may have heard, the move backfired, the Colts got the ball and drove down easily for the game-winning touchdown. As some of the rest of you may have heard, a three-time Superbowl-winning coach is now the Schmuck of the Ages, the greatest moron since sliced bread, a hobo-lookalike dumber than a bag of dildos.

Ahhh, pundits… is there anything they don’t know? As I’ve railed incessantly since the beginning of this column 137 weeks ago, You Play to Win the Game. The media reaction to Baffled Bumpkin Belichick’s Bupkus reminds me of my high school buddy Chris –now a high-priced lawyer– who had a fool-proof strategy when he played me in Axis & Allies. His plan was always the same: pick the Axis, build up your forces until they’re impregnable, and never attack. My strategy: throw everything I had minus one infantry at him from turn 1. Guess who won 100% of the time? Clue: it was me and my idiotic strategy.

Belichick consumes six cans of this before every game for strength, inspiration

Point being, when you’re playing a game, go for the win. There’s no Special Prize for Who Keeps the Most Troops (although the Lady Byng Trophy is pretty much exactly that). Your offense had gained 450 yards up to that point, averaged 6.7 yards per play, and you need 2 yards –two yards– to win the game. Punt it to Peyton Manning, and depending on the punt return, he now has two full minutes to drive 60 yards. Manning just drove longer than that in less time –do these pundits really think Manning is some sort of unknown commodity? The guy will win the game if given two full minutes and the ball. Period. Put some faith in your offense –you know, the part of the game that you actually control– and get two yards.

Of course, lining up five-wide with an empty backfield and throwing to the guy least likely to make the first down was another matter. But the decision to go for it was solid; punt there, and you avoid blame but lose the game.

Same mentality should be applied to the NHL: play to win, don’t play ‘not to lose’. This is why Tippett is cleaning scorpions out of his skates every morning and Marc Crawford is coaching a Cup-caliber roster in one of hockey’s big-revenue markets. Crawford, for all his faults, sends his guys in waves at the enemy gates, and would rather they score than hang back, play the prevent defense/trap and hope for the best. Pshaw. Hockey is a game: go for the win! You’ve got nothing to lose but your career and your health!

That’s it for this week’s Visigoth-friendly Cupcheck. Tune in next week when we chastise Crawford for not pulling his goalie when he was up by two goals in the final minute of the Detroit game.

Stars 3 – Red Wings 1 Final

The NHL is asinine at times.

Seriously.

No goal. Brad Freaking May. The puck is in the net…And no goal?

Whatever.

Three Bar:

Right Post – Jonathan Ericsson again seemed to find a way to get the puck into the Red Wings net. That trend needs to stop. I understand he’s huge and was clutch in the playoffs. He also managed to somehow blow my prediction that I thought was assured, and was solely responsible for a goal against. Thanks.

Left Post – The Red Wings did not seem to have the same jump the whole night. Admittedly, I missed a good portion of the game while out at a dinner. However, from what I saw, it wasn’t like against Toronto, but it was a mediocre effort. We’ve been over this. A mediocre effort isn’t good enough anymore with this team.

Crossbar – Hank keeps the train rolling. He continues to be on fire, and I love how he is finally getting some respect in these parts. He does not get talked up enough by the sports media or fans (including myself). This guy is a model of consistency. Maybe we don’t talk as much about him because we don’t marvel at his plays like we do Datsyuk or Lidstrom at times, but Z is for real, and is a special player. Thanks Hank for showing up night-in and night-out.

Empty Net/Final Shot of the Night – Seriously NHL. Your review process blows. Intent to blow the whistle is atrocious. I can’t even begin to write about this tonight. I’m livid. At least it wasn’t Brad Watson who made that call tonight…

Fight of the Night:

Shanny vs. Adam Foote. Classic.

Dallas Stars vs. Detroit Red Wings November 18th 7:30pm, Joe Louis Arena Game Notes: Jimmy Howard is

Dallas Stars vs. Detroit Red Wings

November 18th 7:30pm, Joe Louis Arena

Game Notes:

Jimmy Howard is once again starting in net. Osgood is still battling the flu, so Daniel Larsson has been recalled from Grand Rapids to fill that bench-warming, face-off counting, backup goaltender spot.

Khan reports that the same lineup from the last 3 wins will be on the ice tonight. This means that while Maltby is healthy, he will be seeing some press-box time while Brad May and Drew Miller stay in. This has to eat at Maltby a little bit. Hopefully when he gets back in he’ll be pissed and playing for a more permanent spot. This competition is good I think. I can see why Babcock is sticking with the lineup though…if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Marc Crawford is coaching the Dallas Stars now. Yes the man who brought hockey a new respect for hair-spray and general freak-outs while bench coaching. He coached Colorado during the first few years of the hey-day of that rivalry. He also was the coach who was accused of ordering our own Big Bert to sucker punch Steve Moore in the back of the head while coaching Vancouver. Great track record…

Dallas has been mediocre so far this year, but Marty Turco has been turning it on of late. The former Wolverine goaltender is 5-1-1 in his last 7 starts with decent peripheral statistics. Fortunately, Joe Louis Arena has always seemed to be his kryptonite. He manages to look so good elsewhere, and then be non-existent when he plays here. Yay for home games.

The Red Wings do not have a regulation loss at home yet this year…dang it…hopefully I haven’t brought about a change tonight to that statement by mentioning it here.

Drew at NOHS has his Pointless Preview up again. Always worth it.

Bold and Stupid Predictions:

Marty Turco plays well and keeps the game close for Dallas. (Yes, in JLA this is very bold.)

Brad Stuart decides he is fed up with Kronwall getting all the offensive love and pots a goal of his own tonight.

Jonathan Ericsson is not solely responsible for a goal tonight. Miracle.

Brad May does NOT get in a fight.

Final Score: Red Wings win 5-3.

Ahh Bissy.. as I call him. He looks so silly with that toothless smile but yet he’s a good fig

Ahh Bissy.. as I call him. He looks so silly with that toothless smile but yet he’s a good fighter. He seems to fight more than battle for the puck. Well, technically he is battling.. err fighting. Just like Sean Avery! Except he’s not always a jack-you-know-what and doesn’t call ex girlfriends those 2(how should I say it) dirty words.

Our game against the Dallas Stars went better than everyone expected!

In shorter words:
1. TURDco’s lack of knowing physics helped the Coyotes get.. goals. Sadly I forgot the whole score.
2. Hooray for Schlemko!! He got his moment! Well done, Schlem!
Only 2 good things?!

Yesterday’s game went 180*. Tampa Bay Lightning- 4 Coyotes-1.

Here are the things I’m happy about:
1. NO MOTHER LOVIN EMPTY NET!!!
2. My boy, Adrian Aucoin got the Coyotes 1st and sadly only goal of the night.

Marty St. Louis- You inspire me. But since you were the ‘enemy’ of last night, I’ll let that slide. You stick up for all those short people in the NHL or just in hockey alone. I salute you. XD

Steven Stamkos. Or how my dad called you, Steven “Santos”. I know right- how’d you get that?

You’re only like a year older than my brother, but screw that, you were like FEWMM and VOUSHHHH! Not really but eh.

So my brother got us tickets to see this Saturday’s game against the Phat Philly Flyers! I hope it gets full like the Red Wings game. Where the score went back and forth AND SENT ALL YOU RED WINGS FANS HOME CRYING!! Ha!

I’m thinking of a sign.. but the brilliant idea won’t come until after the game. Boo.

Dallas Stars' Trevor Daley, right, and San Jose Sharks' Dan Boyle (22) fight for the puck during the first period of an NHL hockey game Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, in San Jose, Calif. (AP Photo/Ben Margot)

The Sharks were playing like one of the best teams in the NHL against their Pacific Divisions rivals Tuesday night at HP Pavilion, getting a 2-0 lead that looked like it would ensure the Sharks a second straight victory. But Stars defensemen Stephane
Robidas had other plans scoring the only shootout goal that guaranteed his team a 3-2 shootout victory over the Sharks, preventing them from becoming the first NHL to reach 30 points this season.

The Sharks looked like they were going to cruise to an easy victory after they took a substantive lead through the second period and why not, the team had been 10-0-1 with any lead at that point this season. The Sharks took the lead in the second period on goals by Dany Heatley and Ryan Clowe, just 2:11 apart. Heatley scored the goal with help from Pavelski, who swept behind the net with the puck and centered it on the stick of Heatly who scored his team-high 12th goal of the season.

Exactly 2:11 later, Ryan Clowe would add another goal to the Sharks lead when his 46-foot wrist shot got through the traffic created by Pavelski and past Turco. The lead would not last for long as the Sharks got out hustled and out played going into the third period by the Stars who had their own two straight goals this time only separated by only 1:45. The Stars Jamie Neal would score the first goal that was more of a fluke than anything after it bounced off Sharks
Jason Demers skate and got past Evgeni Nabokov.

Veteran Mike Modona would score the second goal that would tie up the game after he pounced on a loose puck and turned it into his first goal of the season. The game would end in overtime with neither team scoring and ended up going to a shootout in which the Sharks hoped would go there way. Evgeni Nabokov would stop Jamie Neal and Jamie Benn before Stephane Robidas
would score the game winning goal and hand the Sharks a loss before starting their road trip in St. Louis.

The Sharks had plenty of chances to score goal with nothing going their way even though the team had 36 shots on goal. While winning can’t happen every time lets hope the Sharks can get their shots to the hit the back of the net and not the cross bar.

Till next time, SharkGirl
