I didn’t realize there were early college football games on today otherwise I would have done

I didn’t realize there were early college football games on today otherwise I would have done this earlier and made some bets. Unfortunately I was stuck at work.

I was going to play Rutgers -3 and Cincinnati -20.5, but the games started before I had a chance. Other games that were playable include: Colorado State -3, Kent State +4, Tulsa -14.5, and Bowling Green -7. I got my Nebraska -10 pick in, but didn’t get to post here in time

Here are my other picks:

Pittsburgh 0 (vs WVU)

Boise State -9.5 (buy 4pts) (vs Nevada)

The Boise spread opened at -10 which would may have been fine but now it’s up to -13.5 which is too close for comfort. Nevada is a good team with a strong offense. They are on an 8-0 run after losing their first 3 and have score more than 50 points in 5 of those 8 and more than 30 in all of them. Last year Nevada only lost by 7. I may just steer clear of this game, especially since my NCAAF system is so new and untested.

NBA:

DEN -12.5 (vs NY)

PHI +12.5 (buy 7) (vs ATL)

DAL +2.5 (buy 4) (vs IND)

I’ll play Denver straight, but the other two games I’ll have to work into a teaser if I want anything out of them. I’d do PHI, DAL, and any other team I mentioned in the last post in a 7pt teaser if I were to play them.

Bolsa – 614 W Davis Street, Dallas 75208 214.367.9367

Bolsa neighborhood attempting not to look dodgy

It may already be too late to catch the wave, but Bolsa has apparently been earning accolades and rave reviews locally and is as fine a dining experience as it’s been my privilege to enjoy all year. I don’t know my Dallas neighborhoods that well – this part of Oak Cliff seemed slightly on the dodgy side to me, but that’s probably because my Ethiopian cab driver from Phoenix appears to have followed me to Dallas. So, his 15-minute cab ride from downtown turned into a 30-minute nightmare of reversing up the off-ramp from Highway 30, U turns and Amharic curse words. Thus we traveled through places that one usually and presumably wouldn’t travel through to get here, so I arrived out of sorts and slightly cranky. And was perfectly prepared to continue in that vein – if the restaurant had allowed it.

But it didn’t. Bolsa looks smart from the outside – it has an outdoor patio and a smart indoor dining area connected by a common bar where you can sit like a normal person from the indoor side and like a high hurdler if you are on the other side. All the bar and waiting staff are young and disconcertingly friendly and open. And, so they should be – because they have a restaurant to be proud of. The décor is homely, family style meets shabby chic meets earth mother meets metropolitan sophisticate…and if that all adds up to eclectic, there you have it.

It has more atmosphere at night...

The pitch is ‘slow food’ and fresh (as in delivered that day) ingredients. So the menu changes daily and is wide-ranging, locally biased and intriguing. As well as the food, the service is also on the slow side. But it’s busy because it’s popular and to be honest, when you have the quality of the food that’s on offer and you’re in good company on a pleasant Sunday evening – who really cares? We shared a bruschetta sampler between the four of us that came in four different flavors and all were excellent, including one featuring smoked salmon, pickled red onion, crème fraiche and capers – which shouldn’t have worked, but did. As the wait for the main course was longer than anticipated, our friendly waiter brought us a complimentary mushroom soup – unbelievably delicious. Also because of the wait (ha!), our Buena Vista Chardonnay had expired early and we were refreshed with a decent house substitute – again with the compliments of the house. The entrees were great – simply but beautifully cooked, tasty and not over-sauced – and notable for the freshness of the scallops, Louisiana red fish, steak and accompanying vegetables.

Not actually our waiter on the night....

If you had to think of a couple of adjectives – unpretentious and accomplished just about sums it up. You might want to throw in friendly and warm too – compliments of the house…

Food: Muy bien

Service: Magnifico

Price: No esta mal

Ambience: Si

Thanks giving

Thanks Giving

Thanks Givinig

By JAIME ARON, AP Sports Writer ARLINGTON, Texas (AP)—Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys had their way

By JAIME ARON, AP Sports Writer

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP)—Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys had their way with the Oakland Raiders, piling up their most yards of the season and getting another solid performance from the defense.

Now comes the big challenge for the NFC East leaders: Keeping it up.

Dallas beat Oakland 24-7 on Thursday for its sixth win in seven games, guaranteeing it will remain atop the division going into the final month. Because Decembers have been such disasters for the Cowboys over the past decade-plus, they can only hope this performance indicates things will be different this season.

“I think we have a lot to prove—just for this season, though,” Romo said. “I don’t think any other season has any bearing whatsoever. For us, it’s strictly about right now and this next game. We’ll go from there.”

Despite a back injury sustained four days before, Romo threw for 309 yards. He got more than 100 yards receiving from each of his two favorite targets, Miles Austin and Jason Witten, and threw a touchdown to his highest-paid receiver, Roy Williams.

Dallas (8-3) also had nice balance with more than 60 yards each from running backs Felix Jones, Tashard Choice and Marion Barber.

The defense kept Oakland (3-8) from crossing midfield in the first half, crushing whatever good vibes the Raiders generated by a victory over the division-leading Bengals on Sunday. They got within 17-7 early in the second half on the first career touchdown catch by top draft pick Darrius Heyward-Bey, then hardly threatened again.

“Trying to win two games for us has been like trying to climb Mount Everest,” cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha said. “We haven’t been able to get any momentum going.”

Coming off two lousy offensive performances, the Cowboys more than made up for it.

They gained 494 yards, sparked by lots of big plays—five of at least 40 yards, and eight of at least 25; no NFL team had done that since New Orleans in October 2006.

Witten had his two longest catches of the season and his first 100-yard outing since last Thanksgiving, and he’d been questionable to even play because of a sprained left foot. Choice had a 66-yard run that was the club’s longest since 2006, Jones added a 46-yarder for a touchdown, and Romo was an efficient 18 of 29 with two touchdown passes and no turnovers.

Still, there were things to worry about, like turning all that into only 24 points because of penalties and converting only four of 12 third-down attempts.

“We still have a lot of work to do,” said Choice, whose big run came out of Dallas’ version of the wildcat formation. “A lot of things that we’ve messed up on we have to get better. We have to stay focused coming into December.”

The defense remains an overshadowed strong point. They went from giving up 68 yards rushing in the first quarter to just 56 the rest of the game, and linebacker Anthony Spencer had his first two sacks of the season. It was especially sweet for him because his predecessor, Greg Ellis, was watching from the Oakland sideline. Ellis made a few plays early but missed the second half because of swelling in his left knee.

Romo is 4-0 in Thanksgiving starts, but this is the time of year his golden touch turns to rust. He is 5-10 after Thanksgiving, counting two playoff losses. Last season, the Cowboys came out of the holiday at 8-4, then went 1-3 and missed the playoffs. The year before, when Dallas went 13-3, two of the losses came in December.

The Cowboys are going to have to earn their way into the playoffs as their final five games are against division leaders New Orleans and San Diego, plus division rivals New York, Philadelphia and Washington.

“I think you put yourself in position well before December,” Romo said. “You have to maintain a level of consistency, then you raise it up going into January—if you’re good enough to do that.”

Austin is one of Dallas’ new wrinkles this time around. The Cowboys’ 6-1 run coincides with the seven games he’s started.

Defenses had done a better job of smothering him in recent weeks, which might’ve lulled the Raiders into going with single coverage. He responded with seven catches for 145 yards and a 9-yard touchdown.

“I don’t think me having a great game means that we’re going to have a great game,” he said. “I would say it is all of us.”

Oakland quarterback Bruce Gradkowski was 18 of 35 for 200 yards and the 4-yard touchdown pass to Heyward-Bey. On that drive, Gradkowski was 5 of 5 for 69 yards, plus a 21-yard scramble, he just couldn’t keep it up.

“There were plays out there to be made early on. We didn’t make them,” Gradkowski said. “I take the blame. I missed a couple early throws on that would have given our team energy.”

Oakland’s powerful punter Shane Lechler failed in his bid to hit the overhead video board, in warmups or in his nine tries during the game.

^NOTES: Dallas hadn’t had two 100-yard receivers since Terrell Owens and Terry Glenn in the 2006 finale. … This was the first time the Cowboys beat the Raiders at home. Oakland had been 3-0 in Dallas—well, Irving. Now the team plays in Arlington. … The stadium’s retractable roof was open for the first time since the opener. … Dallas kicker Nick Folk missed a field goal for the third straight game. … The Raiders hadn’t played on Thanksgiving since 1970.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP)—Raiders defensive end Greg Ellis didn’t play in the second half against Dallas on Thursday because of swelling in his left knee and lower leg.

Ellis was one of the captains and started against the team he played with for 11 seasons. He was in on two tackles in the first series of Oakland’s 24-7 loss.

The medical staff tried to drain the knee at halftime. Ellis said there was also swelling in his calf and shin that prevented him from returning in the second half.

“If the swelling was just in my knee, I probably would have been able to go out there,” said Ellis, who was released by the Cowboys in the offseason. “But it went down my shin and calf, and you can’t drain that.”

Ellis, who also has shoulder problems this season, missed one game after he had surgery on his left knee Nov. 4. He returned Sunday and had a sack against Cincinnati.

“It’s extremely disappointing,” Ellis said. “I wanted to help my team. I hate we lost, but it bothers me more that I wasn’t able to go out there and finish it.”

That pass meant more than just two points, more than one assist for Kidd because with that dime, his 5th of the game at the time, he passed Mark Jackson for 2nd all time in assists with 10,335.

On a day where we saw one star get pushed out of the league because of his inability to adapt, Kidd once again stands his name in the history by reinventing himself. He is not the triple-double machine he once was but by being able to understand that time passes, Kidd extended his NBA career and remains helpful on the highest level.

Well let’s just say if you live in Oakland or your a Raider fan and think Bruce Gradkowski is going to turn the Raiders around, think again. Yes he did turn in a decent performance last week leading the Raiders to a come from behind win over the AFC North leading Cincinnati Bengals, but today will be a different story on thanksgiving in Dallas. The Raiders come into the game ranking 30th in run defense and will not be improving on that number as they face the down hill runner Marion Barber, the fast and elusive Felix Jones and the versatile Tashard Choice. With Jason Witten slated to start even with a sprained foot, the Cowboys will simply have too much offensive fire power to be contained by the Raiders. Oakland has a slight chance of coming out on top, and I mean slight. Gradkowski interceptions will be a trend of the day and this one should be ugly from the moment the toe hits the leather.

By JAIME ARON, AP Sports Writer

IRVING, Texas (AP)—Greg Ellis spent the last few years bracing for his release from the Dallas Cowboys. So when it happened in June, it didn’t sting too badly.

He even started looking at the bright side—finally getting to spend Thanksgiving with his family after 11 years of playing on the holiday.

Then he signed with the Oakland Raiders and Al Davis broke the news to him.

“Greg,” Davis said, “guess who you are going to play on Thanksgiving?”

“My wife was not too happy about that,” Ellis said, chuckling. “She was like, `Man, you leave Dallas and you STILL have to miss Thanksgiving with us?”’

Ellis and the Raiders (3-7) have the chance to jump-start a season that’s already included a pair of three-game losing streaks. However, they are 1-0 under new starting quarterback Bruce Gradkowski, having beaten division-leading Cincinnati this past Sunday. Now they have a chance to knock off another division leader.

Dallas (7-3) is vulnerable, too.

The Cowboys have been shut out over the first three quarters in their last two games, a loss at Green Bay and a 7-6 win at home over Washington. Quarterback Tony Romo was kneed in the back by the Redskins and is still sore. He also might be without his favorite target, tight end Jason Witten, questionable with a sprained left foot.

And, with Ellis now playing for the Raiders, the Cowboys will be facing a guy who knows all their favorite tricks.

“He’s done a good job for them,” Romo said. “He looks good on tape.”

Ellis was the player Dallas took instead of Randy Moss in the first round of the 1998 draft. While never dominant, he was always among the club’s sack leaders, first as a defensive end, then after being moved to outside linebacker.

He feared being set up to fail when forced to switch positions, but he ended up playing better than ever. He had a career-best 12 1/2 sacks and his first trip to the Pro Bowl in 2007, when he also was coming off a torn Achilles’ tendon. He ended up being the NFL’s comeback player of the year.

Part of Ellis’ motivation that season was that Dallas drafted Anthony Spencer in the first round to be his eventual replacement. Ellis remained the starter and pass-rush specialist last season by getting eight sacks, but he knew the Cowboys eventually would need to find out what they had in Spencer.

While he would’ve preferred finishing his career in Dallas, he appreciated being released in time to land another job.

“It was never anything personal,” Ellis said. “Some players make the mistake of getting mad with the owners, mad with the organization, saying bad things about the organization. But you have to understand that football does have a business side. … It’s just the circle of life in football. You can’t play on one team forever. Enjoy the years you are there, like I did. I just wish we’d won the big one while I was there.”

He wasn’t out of work very long.

The Raiders gave Ellis a three-year contract to play defensive end, then traded for Richard Seymour to handle the other end spot. Ellis has responded with five sacks in nine games, giving him 82 career sacks, eight among active players. He’s missed one game while having arthroscopic surgery on his left knee and getting over a shoulder injury.

Spencer, meanwhile, has zero sacks in 10 games for Dallas. DeMarcus Ware’s numbers are down, too.

“Greg’s impact on and off the field is immense,” Raiders defensive end Jay Richardson said. “He’s obviously a good player, a great player, he’s a heck of a pass rusher. But he brought a leadership that we really needed right now. He gave you a model to follow, both as a football player and as a man, I think. All the young guys look up to him in the locker room and say, `That’s how you want to do it.”’

Ellis also could be setting an example of how to handle yourself before a grudge match.

On a 20-minute conference call with Dallas reporters, he insisted he had no idea that Spencer didn’t have a sack and that he is not trying to prove anything to anyone with his performance this season, or in this game.

“My intentions are to go out there like it’s another football game,” Ellis said. “I just want to do my best.”

Well, there was one swipe in saying how embraced he feels by the Raiders.

“I know I’m on a team that’s not trying to phase me out for no reason at all,” Ellis said. “I’m on a team that says, `OK, we got Greg here and we want to use him in a way that he can help us win’ as opposed to `We got somebody we just drafted and we want to get him on the field.”’

Still, Ellis admits he won’t know until Thursday afternoon how emotional this game will be. It helps having playing Dallas in the preseason and that this game will be at Cowboys Stadium, not the building that was his home the last 11 years.

But there will still be stars on the helmets, many of them worn by guys who were his teammates and friends for many years.

And, of course, it will be Thanksgiving.

In America we are known for many things. We are known to be cocky bastards who thinks our poo poo don’t stink, and we are known to eat a lot. So it is only fitting that us cocky bastards have a holiday that gives us a excuse to eat.

Am I not the only one to notice that this holiday suites us so well? This is what I do every year….

Wake up

Watch parade

Realize the parade is retarded

Take nap

Eat

Watch Football

Fall asleep after Detroit gets down by 3 touchdowns

Wake up

Eat pie

Get ready for Dallas game

Eat leftovers in the 3rd quarter

Eat pie in 4th quarter

Watch a movie

Go to bed

Now this holiday should be called Independence day since it confirms I am American, by eating, taking naps, and watching football. You see if the government really wants to get illegal aliens in our country, you will look for the people who are not eating, sleeping, and not watching football.

Americans need this day to eat away there problems, And don’t give me that crap about this day is to give thanks. Because if you were thankful you wouldn’t need a day to remind you. We celebrate this holiday to EAT and not fill guilty.

Now if you don’t mind I am going to get some turkey so I’m out.

Have a nice Thanksgiving.

Last May, the Central Dallas Community Development Corporation announced an international design competition called “Re:Vision Dallas.” The challenge was to transform a vacant inner-city block behind City Hall into a carbon-neutral community. The competition drew hundreds of entries from top architecture firms and city planners in 14 countries worldwide, but only six entries were chosen as potential designs to further explore for construction and buildout.

This week, Urban Re:Vision and the Central Dallas Community Development Corporation announced that the selected winning design is the “Forwarding Dallas”, the product of a collaboration between Portuguese-based architectural firms Atelier Data and Moov.

Considerations for the selection included:

Sustainability and reality of intent

Affordability/Constructability: Could it be built in the next few years?

Innovation and Originality

Incorporation of Sustainable Materials and Practices

Forwarding Dallas is modelled after one of the most diverse systems in nature, the hillside. The design (image above) is consisted of a series of hillside structures with public spaces, valleys and hills. Each valley will contain trees and plants within greenhouses that would be becoming more resistant as the altitude increases. Rainwater will be collected and stored for use. The community will be powered completely by renewable energy. Atop the hills, solar thermal, photovoltaic and wind energy will be harvested.

Forwarding Dallas.
The construction is prefabricated and the housing options range from studios to three bedroom flats. In the structure are also included a sensorial greenhouse, swimming pool green house and meeting point green house. Construction is expected to begin in early 2011.

Ah Thursday, the middle child. Not quite the end of the week, but close enough to incite that rush of weekend anticipation. Don’t worry, the mydeco team are here to ease your restlessness with today’s selection of the best design news.

mydeco’s pick of the top three stories:

1. Design Boom: Real Design Exhibition at Serpentine Gallery London

We love a good exhibition at the mydeco office (even more so when they are accompanied by free wine). However, there is no alcoholic incentive needed for Design Real: the first show at the Serpentine Gallery devoted to contemporary design. Curated by Konstantin Grcic and designed in collaboration with Alex Rich and Jürg Lehni, the exhibition examines items which have a function in everyday life. And yes, before you ask the above image does fit into this category – it is simply a textile wall constructed from interconnected foam tiles. Nothing unusual about that at all.

2. Inhabitat: Dallas Hill-filled design wins Re:Vision Dallas competition

Hard to believe, but the television show Dallas was not always an accurate reflection of reality. The real city is not all high-glamour, sex and murder; in fact some areas of this gigantic metropolis might even be described as ‘run-down’. Not for long however, as the winner of Re:Vision Dallas – a competition to create a completely sustainable community in the downtown area of the city – was announced yesterday. The hillside design runs entirely on renewable energy, has vertical gardens and can grow its own food. Construction is due to begin in 2011.

3. Moco Loco: Springtime chair

This design is the brainchild of Frank Winnubust, who researched various types of springs (Frank is single) in order to create a chair that would provide optimum comfort. Notice the knitted covers on the top layer, which were added to stop the chair from looking quite so much like a torture device. Cosy.

The best of the rest:

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I sure have a lot to bet thankful for recently. Namely, I thank my ge

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

I sure have a lot to bet thankful for recently. Namely, I thank my genius brain for figuring out this system that has been consistently correct 70-80% of the time. And I’m thankful that it works for basketball, football, and hockey. I’m sure it works for baseball as well, but that’s going to have to wait another 6 months or so.

So today was yet another good day for me. I won all 3 3-team teasers (2 7pts and 1 4pt). I lost my 1 straight wager for the NBA by 1.5 points. That technically puts me at 9-1 for the day but since it was only 4 teams in the teasers I’ll call it 4-1. I was 5-0 SU on those games. As for the NHL, I went 2-1 which normally isn’t bad but I tried to parlay them so it didn’t really work out for me. I’m still happy with it since I made money on the day and I’m still learning.

I apologize for being a little disorganized lately, and my posts haven’t been too in-depth. I’m still working the kinks out of my system and trying to get everything running smoothly, all while working 40 hours and exercising 14 hours a week. It’s tough to fit it all in but once I get everything sorted out I’ll be able to do the dirty work more quickly and have more time to write good posts.

Also, I know I haven’t updated the other pages in a while. I’ll get to that this weekend. I promise.

Anyway, here are tomorrow’s NFL, NHL, and NBA picks for tomorrow.

GB VS DET; GB -11.5 (BOUGHT 2PTS)

Surprisingly this is my weakest game of the three. You wouldn’t think I’d need to buy any points but I am a slave to my system so I do what it says. Stafford looked good last week but remember who he was playing. And remember how many points the Browns scored on them.

OAK VS DAL; DAL -13.5

This game scares me a little just based on how Dallas has been playing lately. I’m hoping they’ll be able to take advantage of the Raider’s beaten defense as they didn’t get much rest since their last game. Obviously Dallas didn’t get much rest either but a short week is harder on the defense than it is on the offense. And I don’t think Oakland’s offense is good enough to really “take advantage” of Dallas.

NYG VS DEN; NYG -6.5

The Giants are back on their feet while the Broncos can’t even find theirs. Giants will keep rolling while the Broncos keep falling.

I also parlayed these games as my system says they are strong. I played them in a 6pt teaser as well to hopefully offset some losses if they don’t quite cover the spread.

NHL:

Columbus vs Ottowa

Los Angeles vs Vancouver

It looks like the 2 US teams will not be so thankful tomorrow as they both are travelling out of the country and both are going to lose. I’m playing this as a parlay as well.

NBA:

CHI vs UTA; UTA -3 (BOUGHT 4PTS)

This is the only game of 2 tomorrow that has a spread out right now and the only way I can play it is if I buy 4 points. I cannot do that on sportsbook.com unless it is part of a teaser (they only let me buy up to 3). If the other game isn’t good enough to use in a teaser I’ll probably just let it go.

10. The West Wing
“What Kind of Day Has It Been?”

The first season of the West Wing was a show full of spirit and good-hearted drama. Sure, it was somber at times and dealt withsome heavy themes, but it was also full of fast-paced energy and witty dialgue. Therefore, we were all surprised to see the season end in such a vilent and dramatic manner as a group of white supremecists opened fire on the president and his staff. We were left pondering all summer; who was hit? And who survived?

9. Friends
“The One With Ross’s Wedding”

The on-again, off-again love story between Ross and Rachel in the hit comedy Friends has become a legendary staple on network television. And just when audiences thought it way have died down and that the story arc may be over as Ross prepares to marry his new girlfriend Emily, they hit us with a bombshell: Ross says Rachel’s name instead of Emily’s during the wedding vows.

8. The Office
“Casino Night”

But enough about Ross and Rachel. They’re old news. Lets get on to the new wave of will-they wont-they TV couples, Jim and Pam. In the original British The Office, Tim and Dawn went striaght to the bitter end with their sexual tension. We assumed that the Jim-Pam relationship would be much the same, until Jim took matters into his own hands. He kissed Pam outside and expressed his true feelings, shocking viewers everywhere. But the real cliffhanger would come a few minutes later when he kissed her again…

7. 24
“Day 1: 11:00 pm – 12:00am”

When 24 aired in 2001, it was stretching the barriers of TV, and so the ending of their first season was no different. In the last few mintes of the last hour, Jack Bauer finds that his wife has been murdered. At this point, fans of the show knew that the producers of the show, from taht moment on, would not be afraid to take bold chances. What would happen with Jack now? How is his wife’s death going to change the fabric of the show?

This shocking conclusion is a cliffhanger for these reasons,, yet it is also, strangely, a resolution to the season as a whole.

6. Lost
“Through the Looking Glass”

Lost has always used flashbacks as a way to tell its character’s stories, and in their third season finale, Lost used this staple storytelling device to give us the show’s best cliffhanger. DUring the two-hour seaon finale we follow the cahracters’ exploits to get off the island, while following Jack’s flashbacks intercut throughout the show. It isn’t until the very end, when Kate appears in Jack’s flashback, that we realize thatwe were never watching a flashback, but that it was in fact a flash forward. Jack and Kate had made it off the island! But how? When? What about everyone else? This revelation shocked Lost viewers and gave them a plethora of questions to ponder over the summer months.

5. The Simpsons
“Who Shot Mr. Burns? Part 1″

No one is better at homaging and spoofing great movie and televison moments better than The Simpsons. And so who better to do a spoof of the infamous “Who Shot JR” moment? This time, Mr. Burns was the gunshot victim, and everyone in town was a suspect. The producers also played up the mystery by giving clues throughout the summer and having cans write in their thoughts on who was the guilty culprit. This was the only time in the SImpsons twenty year run that theyended their season on a cliffhanger, and it was a good one. (even though it just turned out to be Maggie, but oh well)

4. Star Trek: The Next Generation
“The Best of Both Worlds: Part 1″

Usually the best cliffhangers are the ones that hit us with something completely unexpected. Something like the main characters becoming one of the enemy. That is what happened at the end of TNG’s third season, where Picard is not only captured by the Borg, but is made to be one of them. And when Picard turns toward his former crew and says “I am Locutus of the Borg”, geeks everywhere were on the edge of their seats.

3. Alias
“The Telling”

Alias was a show which seemed to end every episode with a cliffhanger. Therefore, when it came time for their season finales, they had to find ways to step up their game and bring those cliffhangers to the next level. The first season finale was okay; she was captured by who turned out to be her mother after years of believing she was dead. But the second season finale was when the producers of Alias really outdid themselves.

After all o fthe events of the final episode transpired, Sydney found herself exhausted after a fight with the agent who was doubling as her best friend, passing out onto the floor. When she awoke, however, she was in an entirely different city; Hong Kong. It was only until after she contacted the CIA and Vaughn that she, and we the audience, discover that she has been missing for two years.

2. The Sopranos
“Made in America”

Here we have a unique sort of cliffhanger; a cliff hanger in the final episode of a TV shows run (a purposeful cliffhanger, as opposed to a show which just got canceled. David Chase ended the Sopranos’ 6 season run with a scene where Tony and his family meet for dinner. Against the backdrop of an old Journey tune, a shady figure comes out of the bathroom, looking ready to make a hit. And just when we think something is about to happen, the screen cuts to black.

Fans were split on what they thought of this ending; any were angry while others thought it was a brilliant and original way to end the series. We don’t know what happens at the end, and we are never going to find out. It is a cliffhanger without a resolution, and a stroke of genius.

1. Dallas
“A House Divided”

Its hard not to put this one at number 1. Back in the days of Dallas, a season finale was simply the last episode of the airing season. There was nothing really special about them. But suddenly Dallas comes along and has their main character shot in the closing moments of the season, making TV audiences everywhere wait a whole summer to learn who the culprit was. “Who shot JR?” became a cultural phenomenon in 1980 and it built the trend of television cliffhangers which TV audiences now enjoy almost every May.

Thanksgiving is always a fantastic holiday. It’s great to be back and see all my homies back here in the ‘Sau. Happy Thanksgiving everybody. Now that we have that out of the way, let’s talk football.

Green Bay vs. Detroit (11:30)

The Lions are on the brink of losing their traditional Thanksgiving nationally televised game, and it won’t get any better this time around. They will be without Matt Stafford who played a great game against Cleveland but hurt his shoulder in the waning moments of that contest. The Packers offense was great last week, but the defense will be missing key athletes. The Pack will take care of business.

Oakland vs. Dallas (3:15)

Everybody is already writing this one off as an easy win for Dallas. Everyone is reminiscing on the success that Tony Romo has had on Thanksgiving. Well, Brucey G is coming to town with the Oakland Raiders. He breathes a bit of life into this inept offense. There’s no reason the Raiders can’t win this game. I feel confident in saying that.

New York Giants vs. Denver (7:20, NFL Network)

The Giants are in stride once again. It will be Brandon Jacobs and Danny Ware as Ahmade Bradshaw isn’t likely to play. As I previously stated, the Broncos are done this year. I can’t see the Broncos winning this game even at home. I really like the Giants in this one.

They had one thing in common. Relationships are a critical business asset, whether used to find new contacts, share address books, or provide recommendations. That’s a core part of the Tribe Blue philosophy.

It is that time of year again in America, Thanksgiving and by the way it is something people in Britain just don’t get.

We have the usual games in Detroit and Dallas along with a game in Denver this year. So if nothing else we should get alot of points. So now that i have said that it will be 3 really low scoring games.

No game looks like it is going to be a classic and if anything the chances are there will be a couple of blow outs.

First up is Green Bay beating Detriot

Or at least you would hope so, yes the Lions put up a ton of points last week but lets face it they were playing the Browns. The Packers defence is a totally different kettle of fish. I expect Rodgers to have a big game and for the Packers to win by 14 or so.

Second up is Dallas beating Oakland

Surely the Dallas offence can’t play that bad again, even Romo must get better!
In all honestly I expect this game to be over by half time and I refuse to believe that Oakland win two games in a row.

Finally we have New York beating Denver

The Giants and Eli are getting back into the swing of things and I think they will enjoy a comfortable win against a rapidly failing Broncos team.

NFL.com

A team can never go into a game against a seemingly poor team and expect to get the win. The Oakland Raiders proved that against the Cincinnati Bengals last Sunday.

The Raiders had the ball late in the fourth quarter against the Bengals and managed a scoring drive to tie the game. On the kickoff, the Bengals returner fumbled which the Raiders recovered with seconds on the clock, where they kicked a game winning field goal.

Now the Raiders are coming into Cowboys stadium with a lot of confidence.

But the Cowboys NEED to blow through the Raiders this Thanksgiving to get their own confidence back. I am referring strictly to the offense.

The last two offensive performances against the Packers and Redskins has been putrid and mainly the passing attack.

The Cowboys ran a lot on Sunday and they did quite well. That is why it makes no sense as to why the passing game could not get going.

Also, the play calling was odd in certain situations. On many 3rd and shorts, the Cowboys were in shotgun and they would run it. They need to get Romo behind the center on those situations.

In the game against Oakland, it is likely that they will run the ball heavy again. Oakland is ranked 30th in run defense.

As Nick Eatman said on The Lunch Break on DallasCowboys.com, Tashard Choice should get a healthy amount of carries since he is the freshest back from Sunday.

As far as the passing offense, you just hope that good runs can open up the pass. That is really all you can say and hope for. These receivers need to make a difference as well and hopefully Romo can be more precise with his throws.

In the past three Thanksgiving day games, the Cowboys have blown out the opposing team.

But there is a difference in the team going into this years game.

In 2006, the Cowboys were hot coming into Thanksgiving, having just beaten the undefeated Colts the Sunday before, then went into the Thursday game and destroyed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 38-10 where Romo threw 5 touchdowns.

In 2007, the Cowboys were hot all season long and they took care of the New York Jets on Thanksgiving that year, 34-3.

Last year, the team was on a hot streak after the bye, getting their third consecutive win on Thanksgiving against the Seattle Seahawks, 34-9.

This season though, the Cowboys are coming off of a win, but two poor offensive games in a row.

The Cowboys have to come out swinging in this game. They cannot even start off slow in my opinion. They need to go for the throat early and keep their foot on that throat.

They need a serious confidence booster and even though this is the Raiders, if they can also blow them out, that could do it.

But if they have another offensive lull, they might be in trouble going into December.
