Akshan Ish and I paired up to work around Dandi Pull located near Sabarmati Ashram. Dandi Pull was constructed when the Dandi March happened so as to cross the Sabarmati river. Gandhiji crossed the bridge along with his supporters to march towards Dandi but never returned as later he got involved in the freedom struggle.

Also this year in April, the pull had caught fire and now lies in a dilapidated state. We sought to work around the bridge to establish it as a symbol of activism and freedom struggle and also to leave it for people as a “source to take inspiration from”.

We came up with two different ideas. One idea was to create panels and show past, present and future. We also wanted to use the iconic ‘Gandhiji’s three monkeys’. We identified five values associated with the preachings of Gandhiji. And did the illustrations for it.

The other concept that we worked on was to project tweets from twitter on a panel which talked about Gandhi and Gandhian ideologies. Here is a screen shot of this concept as well!
