Aluks on noloja karsintoja, sit tiukkaakin tiukempi vegasviikko. Ja sieltä sitten karsitaan top 20 varsinaiseen “ohjelmaan” 10 miestä ja 10 naista.

Ite ohjelmassa tanssiparit arvotaan ja joka viikko sit arvotaan parille myös tanssilaji. Siellä on esim moni b-boy ollu paskat housussa ku arpa on osunu vaikka quickstepin kohalle. Siinä on kyl yks perkele tanssilajiks, huhhuh. Hiki kirpoo otsalle pelkästä kattelusta. Ei ne tuomarit sitä turhaan kutsu termillä “kiss of death”

No juu, mut joka viikko kolme vähiten ääniä saanutta paria joutuu tanssiin vielä soolot ja ekana viitenä viikkona tuomaristo päättää ketkä mies ja nainen tippuu pelistä pois. Sit top 10:n kohalla kaikki valta on katsojilla aka jenkkiäänestäjillä, joiden äänet määrää ketkä tipahtaa. Kisassa etsitään siis jenkkilän suosikkitanssijaa, ei niinkään aina “parasta”. Mietin pitkään et mikä tekee tästä niin paljon idolsii hienomman formaatin ja tajusin, ettei täs tuu ollenkaan sitä myötähäpeen ja yleisen vitutuksen tunnetta, ja se jos mikä on priceless! Ja tietty varmaan yks tekijä on sekin et tanssin itekin, niin tää kolahti senkin takia ihan täysillä. On toi tanssi vaan hieno liikuntamuoto ja upee taiteenlaji! <3456677

En tajua miten oon pystynyt missaa ton sarjan näin pitkään. No mut parempi kai myöhään ku ei milloinkaan, nyt oon siis kattellu nettitelkusta ekat viis kautta kokonaan hävyttömän lyhyel aikavälil ja kutoskautta sitä mukaa ku se jenkeis ilmestyy! Oottekos te muut seurannu kyseistä sarjaa?

This is one of my favorite covers from back in the day. Korean American come KPOP stars Teddy & Danny of 1TYM and J did a special stage collab where they covered the song ‘Thank God I Found You (Make It Last Remix)’ by Mariah Carey x Joe x Nas.

I remember loving this as they brought a little bit of their home western flavor to a very poppy sounding industry back then. In hindsight the performance wasn’t perfect, but its still just as entertaining.

Oi? Pois é. Durante uma sessão de perguntas e respostas em Toronto, o escritor Stephen King soltou essa bomba aí. Ele está mesmo escrevendo uma continuação para “The Shining”, seu livro lançado em 1977.

Para quem mora numa caverna e não sabe, foi esse livro que deu origem ao filme “O Iluminado”, de 1980, dirigido por Stanley Kubrick.

Sem revelar o final do livro/filme original para quem ainda não leu/viu, digamos apenas que a nova história conta como um dos personagens, chamado Danny, está. Ele tem agora 40 anos, mora em Nova Iorque e trabalha em um hospital ajudando doentes terminais a “passar para o outro lado” em paz. Por isso, segundo o escritor, o título pode ser “Doctor Sleep”.

King, talvez percebendo que entregou demais, terminou dizendo que ainda não se comprometeu a escrever o romance, mas que ele já está em andamento desde a metade do ano. Quem viver, verá.

Carnavalsvereniging De Fluiters organiseert tijdens het tweede weekend van december een gezellig Winterdorp met skihut en de nodige glühwein. Drie dagen lang draagt het Kermetaplein de gezellige kerstsfeer uit in een prachtig kerstdecor. Hoogtepunt is de fraaie kerstlichtstoet op zaterdagavond op een nieuw uitgestippeld parcours.

Op vrijdag 11 december van 17 tot 21u kan je deelnemen aan een wandeltocht en zal de fanfare Sint-Cecilia zorgen voor het muzikaal kader. Telkens vanaf 14 kan je op zaterdag 12 december tot 21u en zondag tot 20u er ook terecht voor een kerstmarkt met levende kerststal en oude ambachten.

Apotheose is echter de kerstlichtstoet op zaterdag vanaf 19u met een nieuw parcours. Muzikaal wordt er leven in Winterdorp gebracht op zaterdag vanaf 19u30 door lokaal talent Kaylie, Danny Kerkhofs en Outback. Zondag vanaf 14u klinkt Tiroler muziek en ambiance uit de instrumenten en met zang van D’Rauf und D’Ran.

Last night, i accepted an invitation to see the World’s Greatest Wrestler, Hulk Hogan! A friend of mine, Ben Rosenthal, is a massive wrestling enthusiast/nerd, and has been trying to drag me to a ‘fight’ for years. “But it’s fake, and the result is pre-determined, so what’s the point?” i’d say to him. To which, he’d reply (in blog form of course);

Ask yourself a question; Do you go to the movies?  Were you entertained by it?  Guess what, movies are FAKE!  Read a good non-fiction book recently, like Lord of The Rings or Wayne Carey’s autobiography – FAKE!  My point being, just because you know something isn’t real doesn’t mean you cannot be entertained by it.  Wrestling, just like tv, books and movies, is an escape from the day to day drull that is life.  For an hour or two you can boo the evil bad guys, cheer the wholesome good guys, or be confused by the tweeners (wrestling lingo).

Thanks Ben, NOW GET THE HELL OUT OF MY BLOG! 

He actually makes a pretty good point. I cheer for Batman at the movies. I cheer for Dexter on the television. I cheer for Team Jacob when i’m reading…..err….i mean, nothing. *clears throat*

My night at the wrestling was hilarious. Before the wrestlers get down to business in the ‘fight’, they partake in a 10 minute role play. They call each other names, they flex their muscles, they tell their opponent what they plan to do to them, and they flex their muscles. Did i mention the muscle flexing? Cool. It’s kind of like the dialogue in a porn film before they get down to business. Only the acting in porn is more believable. 

The ‘fight’ itself is even funnier. Chess is more of a contact sport than wrestling. A three count with your opponent on the floor equals victory. The referee will count to two and a half at least ten times per ‘fight’. Apparently this is suspenseful. They stamp their feet on the mat for sound as they throw faux-punches that rarely land within a metre of the target. The crowd cheers. The crowd boo’s. One of them is hit over the head with a chair that looks suspiciously like it’s made out of cardboard, and then a winner is announced. Pretty simple formula really. 

This year, inspired by the Danny Wallace book ‘Yes Man’, i’ve decided to say yes to more opportunities. Last month i went to a Britney Spears concert. There, i said it. This blog is fast becoming a form of therapy. But it brings me to my new game (drumroll), welcome to HULK, BRITNEY, OR BOTH? Simply pick one of those three options for each of the following;

- Performed in front of thousands of people at the Burswood Dome?

- Provided a fake performance?

- Failed to speak to their fans once?

- Had a show with an abundance of leather, lycra, knee high boots, sequins and exposed nipples?

- Main drawcard was a slightly out of shape blonde thing waddling awkwardly around a stage?

If you answered ‘Both’ to all of the above, congratulations, you’re absolutely correct!

A brief update

I’m writing this post from the living room couch of my in-laws’ home in California. We arrived in town late last night and met our cute and cuddly niece Grace for the first time.  She’s is so much fun! I have to say that I am so thankful for the wonderful families my husband and I have.  I am grateful for parents who love the Lord and  in-laws that love the Lord.  I am also thankful for my wonderful husband who loves the Lord and loves me. I am so blessed!

This morning I read Psalm 20 as a part of my devotional time and it really speaks to me where I am right now…I do pray that the Lord will continue to answer when I call on Him.  In fact, this Psalm is one of those answers from Him.  He is a God who answers. I am thankful for that!

Well, the stage is set. You remember the post about using Twitter to find a job? Perhaps that was a misnomer. Perhaps the post should have been titled, Tweeting to land an interview because my friends, I have done just that.

On December 11, 2009, I, Danny Cox, will complete my first interview with a Chicago agency. Which agency you ask? The same one that opened my eyes to the possibility of social media as the great equalizer, spanning great distances and formalities and granting the user nearly magical direct access with people who have the ability to make a difference: Weber Shandwick in Chicago.

A note: the greatest utility of social media is not necessarily its ability to connect you with the one person who has  the ability to make the difference in getting you an interview. Rather, its best function is in helping you build your own mini-network of those who have the insight, knowledge, and existing connections to put you in the right place at the right time. Without everyone else’s help along the way, I don’t think this would have ever come to be, and for that I am truly thankful. As I’ve learned over the past few weeks, the buzz-phrase of the young professional in Public Relations is to “Pay it forward.”

Just like Morpheus could only show Neo the door, if you use it well social media can only put your foot in it, you have to show up and show that you’re worthy of letting in. But it can get that foot in the door, no postage on a shoe necessary.

There was a Pre activity before this – Tokyo Trooper on the Streets and Comrade Kodomut has got the shots!

Bien entendu l’opération est filmée et seule une anesthésie locale aura suffit au cowboy.

Alors bien sur c’est les US donc, chez nous il faut 1 an pour remarcher, Danny lui mettra 2 mois avant de reskater.

This past weekend there were a lot of events/activities going on at Mac. I attended most of them, and I thought it would be a good idea to share some of them with you to give you a feel of what a college weekend can be like.

Starting on Thursday at 8pm, all the way until Friday at 8pm, Fresh Concepts, the improv comedy group at Mac, did a 24-hour improv comedy show. I sat in for about an hour to watch some skits on Friday afternoon after my classes, and I had a great time. One skit involving a Scottish couple (and some hilarious Scottish accents) was particularly entertaining, so I’m looking forward to future performances by Fresh Concepts.

On Friday night I saw a breakdance dance-off, hosted by Macalester’s hip-hop group, Bodacious. Local breakdance crews from the St. Paul/Minneapolis area came to Mac compete, and showed off their moves. Most of the participants were really young, actually, (one kid looked like he couldn’t have been older than 12!) so that added to the entertainment value. I had a really cool time, and it was an awesome event to break up the standard “weekend routine.”

On Saturday evening I went to the monthly Poetry Slam, which was a nice event. Any Macalester student is welcome to perform at these monthly slams, and that is what makes them so great. Every slam poet has their own unique rhythm and writing/performing style, so all of the performances are really different. There were funny poems, sad poems, political poems… one girl even sang portion of her poem. I’ve been to two of these slams so far, and I loved them both.

Also, over the past few days this semester’s play, Tartuffe, has been going on. I heard it’s pretty good, so I’ll definitely be looking into that…

Finally, tonight is the Leonid meteor shower, which a bunch of people are going out to see in the wee hours of the morning. But, I’ll have to see just how late I want to stay up, and whether I actually want to go check it out, because I’ve heard the meteor shower peaks around 3 am… Regardless, I’m sure it will be awesome, it’s just a shame it will likely be difficult to see the shooting stars, due to Mac’s urban location.

Anyway, just wanted to give you a taste of some of the random activities that can happen on campus from weekend to weekend. Hope this was helpful.

Print Club London are going to be weilding the pencils of Yuletide in December.  Print Club is an East London based screenprinting studio that came to my attention because of the great summer show they do.  Lots of previous Heavy Pencil artists have been involved and made beautiful prints with them so it was only a matter of time.  Rose stallard is the co-founder and she’ll be bringing, Chrissie Abott, Hand Wash Studio, and Danny Sangra along.
