Heavy and Lo-Fi but it works!

Sorry for not posting in so long. I had copious amounts of homework and studying to do. The blog post that I had been working on during that time has been put on hold due to writer’s block. I will it this week though and try the keep a proper schedule through the months to come.

November 18 is my birthday and in celebration of that, I ordered for my enjoyment a 4GB SanDisk Sansa Clip+. I just received it this afternoon at 1:50PM and I am truly enjoying it’s tiny size and huge sound quality. All that is needed now are either the Head-Direct RE0 or the Denon AH-D1001S and an amp of some sort (later on). I feel sorry for my wallet already.

Mahkamah Tinggi Kuala Lumpur hari ini menolak permohonan Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya (SPR) untuk menangguhkan keputusan mengosongkan kerusi DUN Kota Siputeh di Kedah minggu lalu. Suruhanjaya itu bagaimanapun akan membuat rayuan di Mahkamah Rayuan berhubung penolakan penangguhan tersebut. Isnin lalu, hakim Datuk Alizatul Khair Osman Khairuddin memutuskan bahawa kerusi itu kosong selepas penyandangnya Datuk Abu Hassan Sarif tidak menghadiri dua persidangan DUN tahun ini. Dalam keputusannya, hakim menegaskan bahawa SPR bertindak secara tidak wajar dan keputusan suruhanjaya itu bahawa Abu Hassan masih merupakan wakil rakyat bagi Kota Siputeh dan kerusi DUN itu tidak kosong, perlu dibatalkan. “Meskipun saya bersetuju bahawa SPR mempunyai kuasa untuk menentukan kekosongan berlaku secara kebetulan, namun saya tidak berpendapat SPR dapat mengatasi kuasa Speaker mengikut Perkara 51 Undang-undang Tubuh Negeri Kedah,” katanya dalam penghakimannya. “Pada pandangan saya, Perkara 51 menjelaskan syarat yang menyebabkan kerusi menjadi kosong dan responden pertama (Abu Hassan) telah menepati syarat tersebut,” kata hakim itu lagi ketika membenarkan semakan kehakiman yang difailkan oleh Speaker DUN Kedah Datuk Dr Abdul Isa Ismail. Speaker DUN itu memfailkan semakan berkenaan pada 1 Oktober, selepas SPR membuat keputusan bahawa tidak berlaku kekosongan dalam kerusi DUN Kota Siputeh dan Abu Hassan masih merupakan wakil rakyatnya. Abdul Isa memohon mahkamah mengisytiharkan bahawa Abu Hassan bukanlah wakil rakyat berikutan kegagalannya menghadiri dua persidangan DUN berturut-turut iaitu pada 19 April dan 9 Ogos tahun ini, dan kerusi itu adalah kosong. Sorry to say that, the Democratic Action Party (DAP) is practicing hypocrisy on the usage of the infamous legislation – Sedition Act 1948.

At one time, its secretary-general was a “victim” of the Sedition Act.

If my memory serves me correctly, Lim Guan Eng was found guilty under the Section 4(1)(b) of the Act for causing ‘disaffection with the administration of justice in Malaysia‘. He was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment and he was released on 25.8.1999.

Since then the DAP has passed numerous resolutions, to urge the Government to repeal the Sedition Act, and called it as draconian law.

However on the recent developments, DAP seem forgetful over its stands against this draconian law.

Firstly, its party president, Karpal Singh, have suggested to the Attorney-General’s Chamber, to prosecute the “not-so-sane-lawyer” Lingam under the Sedition Act. This was reported on the media on 18.11.2009.

Subsequently on the next day, its secretary-general followed the step. Lim Guan Eng has pressured the police to investigate the seditious rumours which are against the state government under the Sedition Act 1948.

For my curiosity, is DAP favour or against the Sedition Act? Will they repeal the Act if they came into power?

Obviously, if Sedition Act is a bad law (or unfair), then why would DAP suggested it to be applicable?

By the way, Karpal Singh is facing a charge under Sedition Act. He is alleged to have uttered seditious words during a media conference relating to the Sultan of Perak on 6.2.2009.

Will the stand be different, if Karpal Singh was found guilty?

Perhaps DAP has more to learn from Thomas Jefferson.

Sewaktu  pucuk  pimpinan  MCA  mengambil  keputusan  menyerahkan  kepada  Central  Delegates  menentukan  halatuju  Parti,  pemimpin-pemimpin  yang  bertelagah  memberi  pengakuan  yang  mereka  bersedia  patuh  dan  menuruti   kehendak  para  Perwakilan.

Keputusan  tersebut  telah   memberikan  keyakinan  baru  kepada  pengamal  politik  dalam   Parti  Politik   terbesar  bagi  orang-orang    Tionghua.   Telah  direncana   MCA  akan  pasti  kembali  kelandasan  asal   sebaik   sahaja  selesai   EGM  pada  10  haribulan  10.    Akan   dibuktikan  yang  semua  kritikan  yang  dilempar   terhadap  mereka  sebelum  ini  adalah  salah.

Perkara  yang  paling  utama  yang  telah  diputuskan  oleh  para  Perwakilan  pada  EGM  tersebut ialah   hilangnya    kepercayaan   terhadap  Presiden.   Dengan  lain  perkataan  mereka  mahukan  Presiden  Ong  berundur  secara  terhormat.   Bagi  memberi  keadilan  kepada  Presiden,  mereka  juga  tidak  bersedia  memberikan  kembali  jawatan  Timbalan  Presiden  kepada Dr. Chua.  Para  Perwakilan  bersetuju   mengembalikan  hak  Dr.  Chua  sebagai  ahli  yang  sebelumnya  telah    dipecat   oleh  Majlis Presiden.

Tuan  Presiden  yang  sama  sekali  tidak   menyangka    akan   menerima  hukuman   seperti  itu  lalu  merujuk  Perlembagaan  untuk  terus  berkuasa.     Terdapat  satu  Fasal   dalam   Perlembagaan  Parti    yang  menyatakan   Tuan  Presiden  tadi  tidak  secara  otomatis  telucut  jawatannya     memandangkan  usul    hilang  kepercayaan tersebut  tidak  mendapat  majoriti  yang   diperlukan   seperti   yang  terkandung   dalam  Perlembagaan.     Kaedah  yang  sama  juga  terpakai  bagi  orang    Nombor  2   dalam  Parti.   Akhirnya  Dr.  Chua    kembali  berkongsi  kuasa.

MCA  terus  bergolak.   Hari  demi  hari  berbagai  pemecatan  mengambil  tempat.   Ada  pihak-pihak  yang  merasakan  mereka  boleh  menyelamatkan  Parti  dengan  menganjurkan  satu  lagi  EGM.    EGM  yang  dimaksudkan  ini  boleh  membuat  ketetapan  supaya  barisan  kepimpinan   tertinggi    dipilih  semula.     Walau  bagaimanapun  usaha-usaha  pihak  berkenaan  gagal  mendapatkan   restu   walaupun   kuota  memangil  EGM mencukupi.    Kini   pemikiran  seluruh  anggota  MCA   tertumpu  kepada    Agenda   28/11    sama  ada  ianya   boleh/akan     berlaku.   Sekiranya    akan  ada  satu  lagi  EGM    mampukah  ia  melakar  satu  keputusan  yang  lebih  mutlak  dari  apa  yang  terungkai   dalam  EGM  10/10.

Kita  tidak  tahu  apakah  masaalah  sebenar  yang  dihadapi  oleh  MCA  dan  sejauh  mana  ia  menjejaskan  BN.     Mereka  mengambil  masa  begitu  panjang   untuk  membaikpulih  rumahtangga.    Nampaknya   orang-orang  yang  memimpin  MCA  sudah  berhenti  berpolitik.   Sudah  tidak  kedengaran  lagi   suara-suara  pemimpin  yang  sanggup  menjadi  penyelesai  masaalah.    Ruang  Arena  yang  begini  luas   hanya  diguna   untuk  bercakaran  sesama  pemimpin.   Setiap  hari  cakap-cakap  yang  kita  dengar  hanyalah  berkisar  kepada  pemilikan  kuasa.    Agenda    kuasa  ini  sajalah  yang  sedang  berkumandang.    Memang  benar  kuasa  itu  penting.     Tetapi   apa   gunanya   kuasa    jika   pertubuhan   semakin   lemah.     Lebih  menyedihkan  apa  gunanya    kuasa  jika  sudah  tidak  ada  yang  percaya  kepada  perjuangan.

Masih  bolehkah  diharapkan  kepada  MCA  untuk  menggalas  harapan   sebilangan  besar masyarakat?   Kehidupan  mesti  diteruskan.   Kepada  yang  merasakan   mereka  hanya  membuang  masa  sebenarnya  masih  belum  terlambat  untuk   bersama-sama  Chua  Jui  Meng  dalam  PKR   atau  DAP  yang  sentiasa  membuka  pintu  seluas-luasnya  .    Walau  bagaimanapun  MCA  belum  lagi  layak  menjadi  bahan  sejarah.    Tetapi  jika  para  pemimpinnya  terus  mendesak    dan  mengalih  segala   kepentingan,    apa  lagi  pilihan  yang  ada?

SHAH ALAM, 17 Nov: Dewan Negeri Selangor mencalonkan Dr Syed Husin Ali (gambar) dan Ramakrishnan Suppiah sebagai senator untuk sessi akan datang.

Pencalonan Syed Husin, Timbalan Presiden PKR, dibuat oleh Menteri Besar, Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim dan disokong oleh Exco Datuk Dr Hassan Mohamad Ali.

Ramakrsishnam pula dicadangkan oleh Teresa Kok dan disokong oleh Yaakob Sapari. Beliau adalah ahli DAP yang merupakan seorang pensyarah yang juga anggota Majlis Perbandaran Petaling Jaya.

Kedua-dua mereka akan menggantikan Datuk Ikhwan Salim Sujak dan Datuk Yip Kum Fook yang akan tamat tempoh perkhidamatan mereka pada 6 Disember ini

What gag order that James Masing has ordered to his PRS army will not deter SUPP from having a go at PRS says a Professor with a Local University. Very simple,Taib has not forgotten how Masing has backstabbed and had the open confrontation with him during the height of the Dayakism era.

 This is the opportune time to use SUPP to have a right go at James. Its PRS who started the fight and the SUPP  towkays are not exactly very happy and they will use their hatchet man to bleed PRS dry.  Excuse me for using such harsh words as someone needs to shake and rattle PRS as they seem to have forgotten where the $$$$$$ came from to start the party. Short memory and this will surely see to a demise.   

SUPP has nothing to fear as what they have asks for on the additional Assistant Ministership has fallen on deaf ears. Time to pick a hole or two on PRS and show to CM Taib that SUPP is still relevant and not the punching bag for DAP.

Even Affendi Jeman who now wears two caps and has lost some credibility being protem Chairman of ARBS and JPUNS says that they will assist SUPP in whatever ways possible to ensure that losts seats are won back by the BN coalition.  

SUPP is bankrolled by a number of big and established giants in the business/economic world and PRS needs to watch what they say. Even a small fry and untested leader like Youth Chief Sih Hua Tong can get James to come out an issue a “GAG ORDER” James is of course trying to preserve his own position but his mouth pieces are actually playing the “DOUBLES GAME“

CM Taib is very aware that at any time PRS as a party minus a few CM loyalists Yang Berhormats might leave the coalition at the eleventh hour before the state elections. It has happened before an PBS(Party Bersatu Sabah) has done it.

The KM1 and KM2 has failed but a yardstick could be how Lim Kit Siang failed in Penang and today who is the CM of Penang. Does audie 61 need to write it out and spell it out here. James is really under the wings of CM Taib and soon he will try to find a gap to manouvere and the timing is vital to succeed.

He needs to win back his dignity and as one PBB Senior member said James was a new breed of special politician when he first appeared on the scene. Somehow he has losts his way and out when the struggles that he steadfastly held in his palm and next to his chests.

James has reached 60 and soon if Winston Churchill is his mentor at 62 who was elected the Prime Minister of Britain. What is his famous slogan,”  ”Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never – in nothing, great or small, large or petty – never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never, Never, Never, Never give up.’ 

 History will rewrite itself and James has of course that ambition and his able lieutenants has even met up with opposition leaders on number of occasion before 916. Who doesn’t want to be Chief Minister of Sarawak..? Don’t you if given that chance..? Seriously,if not you should not be reading any more political blogs and just read entertainment news…hmmm.

PRS on coalition with SUPP. No surprises here as PRS leaders are not exactly sharing the same ideals and respect for each other. Even a SC member of PRS once said to me openly,’SUPP should look over their shoulders as PRS has equal number of  legislators in the State” Don’t over exploit the situation and PRS with so many former PBDS legislators will not give in so easily and for that matter bullied by SUPP. I was taken aback and I realise that with enough support and power there is nothing that PRS fears.

CM has seen that very clearly and that is why he uses Larry Sng (partyless Assistant Minister) to the maximum. Wouldn’t James if he was the CM of Sarawak use this tactic of DIVIDE AND RULE. He has learnt from the bests and he will surely unleash all that he has kept in his heart and strengthen his position.  

PRS has already done her housekeeping and there are only a few loose ends to tighten the noose around SOME NECKS and James will just push his finger and the automatic lieutenants will give their all.

There is no point anymore for James and his troops to go underground but to fight the war on a level playing field and attack the coalition partners without FEAR and taking out the hatchet man in the respective parties. There are too many HIDDEN HANDS involved in this battle and PRS will know whatever they do they have already been booby trapped.

Politics has a way of reengineering itself and soon we shall see whether the path of collision is averted. Nothing is won easily and only when blood is shed one would appreciate the struggles…………

Anwar Ibrahim as gay as he always been is now the advisor of finance for the state of Selangor. As gay as it sounds, he was the finance minister of Malaysia. He was stripped and fired from that job due to corruption and gay attitude.

PAS which fooling around with Islamic faith to get votes in every general elections and by- elections stated that every member must swear in the name of God not to leave party or they will be divorced from their wives. Crazy as they always been, family ties to them seem to be so not important and well embraced like any other normal human being.

DAP are very quite at the moment as MCA is doing a relatively good effort to stabilize the party. Some might say MCA could be on a rough edge as they are internally fighting against each other.

Rumor has it that another sale is coming soon to shopping malls near you. Spend your money wisely, pay your debts and don’t forget to invest money for your future. And yes, please donate blood too.

Datuk  Abu  Hassan  jelas  dalam  Dilemma.  Timbalan  Presiden  Partinya  membuat  arahan  yang  beliau  mesti  hadir  keDewan  Undangan  Negeri Kedah  yang  dijadualkan   akan   bersidang   besok (17.11.09)  manakala  yang  terbaru  berita  dari  Mahkamah  Tinggi  Kuala  Lumpur  memutuskan  yang  kerusi  Kota  Siputeh  kosong  dan  sekaligus  mengarahkan  SPR  mengadakan  Pilihanraya  Kecil.

Sebagai  Ahli  UMNO  Datuk  Abu  Hassan  boleh  dikenakan  tindakan  tatatertib  jika  ingkar  kepada  arahan  Pucuk  Pimpinan  Partinya.  Sebagai    seorang   rakyat  pula   beliau  terbukti   Menghina  Mahkamah jika  beliau  berdegil  juga   lantas   hadir  sebagai  Ahli  Dewan.

Menyingkap  berita  secara  online sebentar  tadi  Barisan  Nasional  akan  mengemukakan  Rayuan  terhadap  keputusan  Mahkamah  Tinggi  tersebut.    Kita  terpaksa  menunggu  dengan  penuh  sabar  akan  perkembangan  selanjutnya.    Walau  bagaimanapun  perhatian  sudah  pasti  berpusat   diDewan  Undangan  Negeri  Kedah  pada  besok.

Sebagai  orang  biasa  kita  mungkin   akan   dapat  melihat  satu  lagi  sejarah  tercipta.  Berbagai  kemungkinan  boleh  berlaku.   Sedang  semua  pemikiran   tertumpu   diKota  Siputeh   mana  tahu  tiba-tiba  tiga  territory katak  diPerak  juga  diistihar  kosong.    Anggota  Parti  dalam  Pakatan  perlu  juga  bersiap  siaga  kepada  kemungkinan   tersebut.  Jentera   kita  sudah  boleh  dikemaskini  walaupun  BN  sedang  sibuk  mahu  membuat  Rayuan.

Dalam minggu-minggu ini kita telah dikejutkan dengan isu bai’ah yang dilakukan oleh sebuah parti Politik iaitu PAS terhadap ADUN-ADUN nya. Bai’ah ini telah memperuntukkan janji semua ADUN  didalam lafaz yang dibuat oleh mereka terhadap kedudukan ikatan perkawinan atau dengan lebih jelas lagi  suami dan isteri.

Pelbagai sangahan yang telah dibuat oleh puak puak PAS untuk menafikan isu Bai’ah ini. akan tetapi saya kata kan gagal untuk menafikan.

Penafian Nik Aziz:

KOTA BHARU, 10 Nov: Mursyidul Am PAS, Tuan Guru Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat mendakwa isu bai’ah menceraikan isteri dengan talak tiga, segaja ditimbulkan oleh pihak yang dengki kepada PAS.

Dalam satu sidang media di pejabat Menteri Besar Kelantan siang tadi, Nik Aziz memberitahu perkara itu tidak ada dalam pengetahuan beliau dan tidak pernah kedengaran di negeri itu.

“Benda ni tak ada dalam kepala saya, tidak ada bai’ah -bai’ah (talak tiga) ni, tidak ada bunyi khabar pun benda ni di Kelantan,” katanya.

Isu tersebut dakwanya dicetus pihak sekular anti Islam yang berusaha mencari jalan untuk menggugat kedudukan PAS.

Apa lagi yang hendak diperjelaskan lagi… mmg benar lah apa yang didengari oleh saya semasa rundingan diantara BM perak untuk menubuhkan Kerajaan Campuran bersama PAS tidak lama dahulu.

Any known side effects ?

DAP isn’t a drug and it’s totally safe to use. Sadly, it isn’t a guaranteed solution to every stress related problem found in our pets. Occasionally it doesn’t seem to make any difference to a stress related problem and at other times it works amazingly well. It’s likely that DAP will always make some difference to the stress levels in our dogs but if those levels are very high then it’s likely that some other methods of stress relief will need to be incorporated into the treatment regime. There are a number of techniques that are used to bring relief to stressed pets. Although remarkably simple, some of these techniques are not particularly obvious to the pet owner, so advice should be taken.

On the eve of polling in the March 8 2008 general election, a close friend enquired whether Anwar Ibrahim could be trusted or not, given his chameleon-like political career that saw him change his affinity in rather dramatic ways several times.  This question about Anwar Ibrahim’s trustworthiness has become all the more topical now that he is scheduled to come back to our Malaysian political arena on full steam next week.

Even before the general election, there was widespread mistrust for Anwar Ibrahim among the Chinese electorate, because of his perceived sins committed against Chinese education during his tenure as Education Minister.  One could argue that, as Education Minister, Anwar Ibrahim was implementing the education policy of UMNO, but that would still not diminish the burden of his rather huge political baggage.

The Chinese community has always had ambiguous feelings for Anwar, even from the early days when he was involved with ABIM as a young radical Islamic activist.  His Islamic credentials may have been an asset for his career, first in UMNO, then as an ally of PAS when he was banished to the political wilderness ten years ago. But for many Chinese who suffer from Islam phobia, Anwar Ibrahim is often perceived by many as a mildly threatening enigma.

In the ten-year existence of PKR, right up to the time of the general election last month, I was constantly bombarded with the question of whether Anwar Ibrahim would return to UMNO, just like Ku Li did in the 90s after fighting UMNO in vain with Semangat 46 as his political vehicle.

The assumption underlying such doubt is clear.  PKR is the personal political vehicle for Anwar.  If eventually he would return to UMNO’s embrace, there is no point in supporting PKR and Anwar.  This was a view greatly encouraged by MCA.

Then again, on the eve of the 2008 general election, Dr. Chandra Muzaffar issued an ominous warning to the nation.  If Anwar Ibrahim should become the prime minister of Malaysia, then the country would be heading towards an “unmitigated disaster”.  This much celebrated activist claimed that Anwar is certainly not the “knight in shining armour”, as many perceive him to be.

I have known both Anwar and Chandra personally for over two decades.  For me to comment on them based on my skimpy personal knowledge of their private world is a betrayal of my privilege.  So I would not do it.  There should be honour even among politicians, activists, and writers.

Nevertheless, Anwar Ibrahim is such a political phenomenon in Malaysia that one should try to make sense of his personal significance in the public life of the nation.  One can do this with justice, if one examines the evolution of political values among Malaysians and political practitioners with a view of exploring the possibilities for a more enlightened democracy in years to come.

I shall not repeat some PKR stalwarts’ observation that Anwar has been transformed by his incarceration for more than six years in “hotel California” in Sungei Buloh.  Prolonged unjust imprisonment does do different things to different political leaders.  It may break some, and it may transform others and distil, refine, and readjust both their resolve and their political orientation.

Some political leaders often do change their basic belief more than once in his lifetime.  Sir Winston Churchill did cross the floor in the House of Commons, more than once, if my aging memory serves me right.  Party-hopping may be a sign of opportunism in India or Sabah, but it is not always motivated by self-interest and greed elsewhere.

I have two ways of responding to this issue of Anwar Ibrahim’s trustworthiness, and the first is related to the second.

In order to mobilise the masses of humanity for a common purpose, an outstanding and ambitious political leader will either deliberately or inadvertently project a personal charisma to draw political support.  The poor demos indeed feel pretty helpless in matters of state generally, and often welcome a “knight in shining armour” – or a prophet from heaven breathing fire and brimstone – to deliver them from evil and suffering.  This is an abiding element in basic mass psychology.

Nowhere is this more obvious than the DAP of old when they seemed condemned to be in eternal opposition.  Some of their leaders actually welcome ISA arrests or other forms of political persecution so that their sacrifice in personal terms facilitates their public image of a Prometheus-like tragic hero.  Hero-worship can work wonders during general elections indeed. 

The trouble with these political heroics is that sometimes the hero may turn out to be a great oppressor of the people they claim to have liberated.  Mao and Castro come to mind.  More topically, the pathetic picture of Robert Mugabe, desperately clinging to power by all means, is a reminder of how a senile former hero can slide to such great moral depths!

As the late great Lu Xin – arguably the greatest literary figure in China in the 20^th century – wrote once, the ideal state for any country is when the need for heroes no longer arises.  The need for, and existence of, tragic heroes is a clear indication that injustices in the society have been so entrenched that individual efforts to root them out almost always end in failure!

What you need is structural transformation in the erection of healthy mechanisms and effective institutions within the body politics so that the built-in democratic checks and balances will ensure political growth for the future of the nation, despite the will of individual political leaders.  The rule of law must replace the rule of man.

Therefore, whether Anwar Ibrahim is a “knight in shining armour” or not is beside the point in the larger historical backdrop.  The real question is this: has Anwar been a powerful instrument to bring meaningful change to the moribund democracy prior to March 8?  My conclusion is a resounding “yes”.

Without Anwar and his multiracial PKR as the catalytic bridge amalgamating the two opposing tectonic plates of the DAP and PAS, the loose alliance would not have been possible.  The political tsunami on March 8 would likewise have been impossible.  He was the one critical linkage that made possible the congruence of factors that changed the political sky in Malaysia irreversibly.

In a country with an enlightened electorate who have been nurtured in the art of critical independent thinking, the people’s political judgement would not be coloured by nameless fear.

There need not be fears that Anwar or any political leader will bring “unmitigated disaster” to the nation if he comes to power, as long as the people insist that there are healthy institutions that play by ethical and clear-cut rules.  As long as the democratic process is heading in the right direction, no matter how wobbly, top political leaders will be controlled by the rakyat, and not the other way round.  At this point, the crucial change that Malaysia needs so badly is to make an alternative government possible at the federal level first.

Frankly, the magic and the halo around top political leaders tend to be exaggerated.  These people are realistic, fallible men.  The secret is not to make them into icons, and political leaders must indeed be vigilant so that they themselves will not believe in their illusory public image.  This vigilance will guarantee the sombre humility so necessary for authenticity, in this the dirtiest of all dirty businesses!

In the end, voters must get their heads in the right space.  All political leaders and their political parties are but the instruments for the rakyat and history.  In a meaningful democracy, the people must be the masters of their own nation.  That means they have to learn to use politicians and political parties to further the interest of the rakyat, rather than being used by politicians to attain wealth, position, and power.

A certain amount of trust in public personalities and the institutions of state is definitely crucial for the survival of a nation state.  Without that trust, there would not even be any social cohesion that allows law and order to exist.

But that trust must not be blind or unconditional.  The trust of the people in the leading men and the laws of their land must always be conditional and tentative.  The whole idea in the evolution of democracy in world history is precisely premised upon this mistrust for people in power.

That is why we have the doctrine of separation of powers, and other checks and balances within our political system.  Again, to quote the often misquoted dictum of Lord Acton, “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power tends to corrupt absolutely.”  Good political leaders will not demand blind uncritical trust from their followers, but will welcome all kinds of checks and balances to be applied to them in the most rigorous manner possible.  They are supposed to have nothing to hide.

Therefore, the question is not so much whether we can trust Anwar Ibrahim or any other leading political figure.  The question is about whether we can trust our good judgement, our wisdom, our instinct, and our collective strength in determining our own fate.

La teoria originaria del disturbo di panico afferma che si tratta essenzialmente di un disturbo biologico, cha va trattato con una terapia farmacologica.

La versione invece più attuale della teoria è più specifica e riconduce questo disturbo ad un’ipersensibilità del sistema somatico d’allarme. In altre parole le crisi di panico sono falsi allarmi che si verificano quando la persona si trova di fronte a quella che lei ritiene sia una minaccia.

Infine invece la teoria cognitiva afferma che gli episodi di panico sono la conseguenza di un’interpretazione errata di tipo catastrofico di alcune sensazioni corporee.

Quindi l‘eliminazione o comunque la correzione di queste errate interpretazioni dovrebbe prevenire gli episodi di panico ricorrenti. Per saperne di più contattaci.

Il ministro della Giustizia Alfano ha sospeso dal servizio il responsabile degli agenti del carcere di Castrogno, Giovanni Luzi

Il comandante della polizia penitenziaria della casa circondariale di Teramo, Giovanni Luzi, in un concitato colloquio rimproverava un assistente di polizia penitenziaria per aver pestato un detenuto in sezione, davanti agli altri reclusi, invece di averlo portato “sotto”, cioè nel reparto di isolamento, dove abitualmente al riparo da sguardi indiscreti avvengono i pestaggi, le “punizioni”.

Secondo il comandante, l’agente aveva solo sbagliato il luogo dove massacrare il recluso. Registrato con un telefonino, l’audio riversato su un cd, è perveuto in forma anonima al quotidiano locale La Città. La voce riconosciuta è quella del comandante delle guardie che ha ammesso la circostanza e le frasi dette:

“Abbiamo rischiato una rivolta perché il negro ha visto tutto. Un detenuto non si massacra in sezione, si massacra sotto…” (ascolta in integrale L’audio: “il detenuto si massacra di sotto, non davanti a tutti”)

Giovanni Luzi è stato sospeso dal servizio.  Una inchiesta della magistratura teramana è in corso per chiarire le circostanze del pestaggio del detenuto.

Anche se l’intenzione di riaprire il super carcere di Pianosa sembra per il momento rientrata, di fronte alla ferma opposizione della ministra dell’Ambiente, Stefania Prestigiacomo, la proposta avanzata dal guardasigilli Angelino Alfano suona come un sinistro presagio. Il governo ha brutte intenzioni se è vero che con grande disinvoltura tenta di rimettere in funzione una delle più brutali carceri speciali che l’Italia abbia conosciuto. Roba da far impallidire persino Guantanamo e Abu Ghraib. Da circa un decennio, l’isola è diventata un parco ambientale di alto valore naturalistico. Nel 1997 è stato trasferito l’ultimo detenuto rinchiuso nel reparto 41 bis, e dall’anno successivo a presidiare la vecchia struttura sono rimasti solo una sparuta pattuglia di agenti di polizia penitenziaria e alcuni detenuti semiliberi, provenienti dalla vicina casa di reclusione di Porto Azzurro, sull’isola d’Elba, che si occupano dei terreni agricoli. Aperta nel 1858 dal Granducato di Toscana, fu solo nei primi anni del Regno unificato d’Italia che la colonia penale agricola della Pianosa assunse la struttura attuale. Nello stesso periodo vennero create delle succursali nelle isole limitrofe dell’arcipelago toscano, alla Gorgona e sull’isola di Montecristo. Quest’ultimo insediamento fu però abbandonato nel 1880. Negli anni successivi e fino al 1965, l’isola divenne un reclusorio per detenuti ammalati di tubercolosi. Ma la casa penale della Pianosa si è guadagnata anche la fama di carcere per detenuti politici. Nelle sue famigerate celle sono passati l’anarchico Giovanni Passannante, che nel 1878 tentò di accoltellare Umberto I, e durante il fascismo il socialista Sandro Pertini. Ma fu nel maggio 1977 che, insieme alla sezione “Fornelli” dell’Asinara, la diramazione “Agrippa” della Pianosa conquistò un posto centrale nel circuito delle carceri di “massima sicurezza”, ideato dal generale dei carabinieri Carlo Albero Dalla Chiesa. Nel giro di due giorni, grazie anche all’utilizzo di grandi elicotteri bimotori da trasporto truppe Chinook, i reparti dell’Arma trasferirono 600 prigionieri. Un decreto interministeriale, oltre ad attribuire poteri eccezionali a Dalla Chiesa, sospendeva le norme vigenti in materia di appalti e concessioni edilizie (qualcosa di simile è stato chiesto dall’attuale capo del Dap, Franco Ionta). Furono edificate sezioni di massima sicurezza, oltre alle già citate sezioni Fornelli e Agrippa, anche sull’isola di Favignana e nelle carceri di Cuneo, Fossombrone, Trani, Novara, Termini Imerese, Nuoro, Palmi, Messina. Un enorme giro di miliardi da cui scaturirono anni dopo inchieste giudiziarie sulle famose “carceri d’oro”. In un documento fatto pervenire all’esterno, i primi prigionieri politici rinchiusi a Pianosa descrivevano così il luogo: «si tratta di un’isola-carcere, nel senso che la totalità del suo territorio – circa 12 km quadrati – è adibito a istituto di pena. L’isola consta di 4 diramazioni indipendenti. 4 carceri nel carcere. La più grande di esse, chiamata “Agrippa”, dopo aver subito una completa ristrutturazione è divenuta un vero monumento al sadismo repressivo dello Stato borghese». Pianta a forma di quadrilatero, doppio muro di cinta sormontato da filo spinato e un numero sproporzionato di fari. All’interno, celle molto piccole con arredo cementato al pavimento e alle pareti, «mura dipinte con colori speciali che provocano menomazioni visive e disturbi psichici; aria ridotta a mezz’ora la mattina e mezz’ora il pomeriggio, in piccoli cortili. Non più di sei per volta». All’arrivo – scrivono sempre i detenuti – si viene «sottoposti a un brutale pestaggio, dimostrazione del potere assoluto della direzione carceraria». Testimonianze del genere si moltiplicarono negli anni successivi. Il 31 marzo 1981, all’interno della sezione Agrippa avvenne uno delle più brutali violenze della storia carceraria. In una dichiarazione resa pubblica dai familiari, tenuti lontani dall’isola per 15 giorni, si informava che 70 detenuti della sezione speciale erano stati rinchiusi in isolamento dopo essere stati denudati e bastonati e i loro effetti personali distrutti. Ancora nel 1992, quando sull’onda della nuova emergenza antimafia il braccio di massima sicurezza accolse detenuti accusati di appartenere alla criminalità organizzata, i racconti non si discostavano da quanto accaduto negli anni precedenti. «Un litro d’acqua da bere al giorno, 200 grammi di vitto con dentro cicche di sigarette e pezzettini di vetro. La domenica è il giorno più sicuro per consumare la cena, all’apparenza si presenta senza scorie, diversamente dal pranzo dove si trova sia nella pasta che nel secondo un po’ di tutto, tra sputi, cicche, carta, plastica, vetro, preservativi e spaghi» (cf. Il Carcere speciale, sensibili alle foglie 2006). Nel 1993 un rapporto di Amnesty International raccolse le testimonianze denunciando le brutalità subite dai reclusi della sezione Agrippa.

Pada  dasarnya  Pakatan  Rakyat  mahu   mentadbir  negeri   berjiwa  rakyat.   Sehingga  untuk  melantik  Ketua-Ketua  Kampong  beserta  dengan  Ahli  JKKK  pun  diserah   mengikut  kehendak  rakyat.   Ahli-Ahli  Majlispun   dianjurkan  terpaksa  melalui  berbagai  saringan.   Proses  melantik  Ketua-Ketua  Kampong  dan  Ahli-Ahli  Majlis  dimulakan  dengan  memberi  penerangan  kepada  ahli  Parti  diikuti  dengan  mengundi  untuk  memileh  Ketua-Ketua  Kampong  dan  beberapa  Temuduga  bagi  melantik  Ahli-Ahli Majlis  Kerajaan  Tempatan.  Walaupun  telah  melalui  peraturan  yang  memakan  masa  yang  begitu  panjang  keputusan  muktamatnya  tetap  tidak  demokratik.  Jika  dalam  Bolasepak ia  disebut  “sudah diatur”.

Oleh  sebab  tiadanya  orang-orang  cerdik  dikalangan  ahli-ahli  maka  Ketua-Ketua  Bahagian  yang  kalah  Pilihanraya   terpaksa   dipilih   bagi   mengisi  kerusi  Ahli  Majlis  Kerajaan  Tempatan  dan   selebihnya  pula  ia  diisi  oleh  orang-orang  kepercayaan  Ketua-Ketua  Bahagian.   Dan  ini  tidak  termasuk  agihan-agihan  bagi    mengetuai  GLCs.    Melihat  kepada  realiti  sebegitu  sepatutnya  tidak  perlu  langsung   diujudkan    berbagai  saringan  dan  proses.   Dari  awal-awal  lagi  sepatutnya  ditegaskan  kepada  ahli   yang   segala  keputusan  yang  dibuat  oleh  Pimpinan  adalah  muktamat.   Ahli-Ahlipun  tidak lah  terbuang  masa  hadir  temuduga  dan  saringan.   Tidak  kah  para  pemimpin  sekelian  sedar  yang  mereka  telah  terlalu  banyak  membuang  masa?     Sikap  mementing  diri  dikalangan  pemimpinlah  yang   menyebabkan   Pakatan  Rakyat   tewas  diseparuh  jalan.

Kini,  semua  ahli  diminta   berkerja  keras  bagi  menjamin  kemenangan  sekiranya  Pilihanraya   akan    berlaku  didalam  masa  yang  terdekat.      Lain  pula  yang  dilakukan  oleh  para  pemimpin.   Mereka  nampaknya  lebih    sibuk  mengadakan   Poll Status  Calun  didalam  Blog  bagi  meninjau  populariti   sambil  mengumpul   peratusan  yang  tertinggi  supaya  tidak  ada  orang  lain  yang  mampu  bersaing.    Bila   kita   kata    mereka  datang  keParti  ini  membawa  budaya  UMNO  bukan  main  marah  lagi  sampai  ta`  nampak  telinga.

Tentu  ramai  yang  ta`  senang  dengan  tulisan  ini  tetapi  untuk  berlaku  Adil cakap-cakap  mereka  saja kah  yang   betul  dan  perlu  diikut?      Saya  akan  berasa  amat  bangga  sekiranya  Datuk  Seri  Presiden  PKR  sendiri   dapat  mengambil   sedikit   perhatian.

Perteguh Pakatan Rakyat

Konvensyen Pakatan Rakyat Negeri Perak yang telah bersidang pada 31 Oktober 2009 bersamaan 12 Zulkaedah 1430 telah merumuskan resolusi berikut :-

1. Kesepakatan dan perpaduan Pakatan Rakyat perlu terus diperteguh dan diperkasakan bagi menumbangkan UMNO/BN. Segala bentuk prejudis dan prasangka buruk sesama rakan Pakatan Rakyat perlu dihindari.
2. Meningkatkan amalan prinsip ‘collective decision’ melalui meja rundingan sebagai kaedah penyelesaian masalah.
3. Mengukuh dan menggerakkan organisasi parti dengan penekanan serius kepada menubuh dan menggerakkan majlis pemuafakatan Pakatan Rakyat di semua peringkat parti.
4. Menghapuskan doktrin perkauman sehingga ke akar umbi seterusnya meningkatkan hubungan sesama rakyat, kakitangan kerajaan, ahli politik, NGO dan Istana.
5. Menampilkan calon berwibawa dan berintegriti sebagai asas dan fokus kemenangan calon Pakatan Rakyat di DUN dan Parlimen. Fokus kepada program pembangunan jatidiri seluruh ahli parti terhadap perjuangan masing-masing.
6. Meneruskan prinsip 5 K Keadilan, Kewibawaan, Ketelusan, Kebajikan dan Kebebasan sebagai asas bekerja dan memerintah.
7. Menerus dan memperbanyakkan siri dan media penerangan keseluruh negeri agar rakyat menerima maklumat yang tepat dan pemikiran rakyat tidak dijajah oleh Umno/BN.
8. Program mewujudkan ‘kebersamaan’ antara parti komponen Pakatan Rakyat perlu segera dilaksanakan agar seleruh ahli Pakatan Rakyat memahami perjuangan rakan seperjuangan.
9. Munajat yang berterusan bagi memohon pertolongan dan keredhaan Allah swt sama ada sewaktu dilanda krisis mahupun tidak.
10. Jawatankuasa resolusi mencadangkan agar gagasan Pakatan Rakyat disegerakan pendaftaran diperingkat nasional dengan penggunaan 1 logo .
