Bridge construction including girder erection will continue for the Harry Hines/I-35E/Trinity River bridge structure from Jamison/Bachman Station to the west side of the levy on the Spur 482 Frontage Rd.

* The nights of December 1 and 2 (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.), southbound I-35E near Northwest Hwy/Harry Hines will be closed. A detour map for the I-35E closure is available on DART.org.
* The nights of November 30 and December 1, 2, 3 and 4, westbound Spur 482 and the ramps to westbound Spur 482 are closed.
* The night of December 3 (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.), the ramp from eastbound Spur 482 to eastbound Northwest Hwy is closed.

-Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) employees are collecting donations of new socks, blankets and toys and inviting their customers to join them in helping area agencies with “stuff-a-bus” campaigns. More info can be found Here.

-DART Thanksgiving Schedule: Most DART services will operate on a Sunday schedule in observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday, Thursday, Nov. 26 and a modified schedule on Friday, Nov. 27.

* DART bus and light rail services will follow a Sunday schedule on Thursday and a Saturday schedule on Friday.
* The Trinity Railway Express (TRE) commuter rail service will not operate on Thanksgiving Day. On Friday, it will follow a modified schedule.

-One lane is closed on eastbound Frankford Road at the rail guideway. There will be various lane closures for approximately 4 weeks while paving work is done around the median.

Today at the Mockingbird Station, there was some really cool things that were happening. There were people from Time Warner on motorized sooners with laptops on them for people to try out the new Road Runner Moblie 4G Network. It’s like from the cell phone company’s where you get internet from them and you just hook-up a USB and there you go with the internet, and now it’s from the cable company. There is going to be an event on December 9th at the House of Blues from 6-10 where you can test drive the system with your own laptop, concerts, and a chance to meet Danica Patrick.

So, it is Thanksgiving week and what to do with the kids? Or those out of town guests? If you’re anywhere near Dallas, head to the Dallas Zoo! Tomorrow, Tuesday, November 24 is Dollar Day at the Dallas Zoo. They’ll offer $1 admission and $1 deals on food and gifts all day! Make it an adventure and save yourself the potential parking headache by taking the DART Red Line.

Don’t forget you can bring in a picnic lunch too!

Ontem recebi a visita do amigo Flávio Batata. E o Ford e o Camaro, a visita do Dodge brabo, mas com fucinheira, do meu amigo querido. Deu uma bruta saudade do meu 72, em que pese as diferenças dos motores, mas isso é outro papo. E assim, a garagem formou o trio completo, Ford, Dodge e Chevy. Gostei das fotos, aí estão elas. As melhores são do Flávio, que fotografa muito melhor do que eu.

Nachdem ich über unseren ersten Besuch im Pinup Koblenz ja schon (ausführlich) gebloggt hatte, an dieser Stelle ein kleiner Bericht vom gestrigen Pokerabend.

Wie der Homepage des Pinup zu entnehmen ist, findet derzeit ein fortlaufendes Turnier statt, dessen Finale am 30. Januar 2010 ausgetragen wird. Jeden Dienstag ab 18 Uhr kann man sich für dieses qualifizieren. Man muß “nur” an einem der drei Tische, die man an einem Abend spielen darf, erster oder zweiter werden.

Warum man nur drei Tische am Abend spielen darf? Weil es ein Freeroll Turnier ist, es kostet also keinen Buy-In. Das ist dann wohl auch ein bisschen das Problem des ganzen. Einmal das es sehr voll war und zum zweiten, um es vorsichtig auszudrücken, Spieler angezogen werden bzw. wurden, die bei einem Turnier mit Buy-In sicher nicht erschienen wären.

Zum ersten Problem, der Masse an Spielern. Es waren gestern sechs Tische im Eventraum aufgebaut. Wartezeit für meinen ersten Tisch war geschätzt eine Stunde, für den zweiten Tisch geschätzte zwei Stunden. Spass sieht dann doch irgendwie anders aus.

Zum zweiten, dem Spielerproblem. An meinem zweiten Tisch schien sich die Jugend aus dem nahen “Problemviertel” Lützel versammelt zu haben. Nichts gegen den Stadtteil und seine Bewohner im allgemeinen, trotzdem muss man sagen das Vorurteile doch häufig bestätigt werden.

Jedenfalls waren die Worte “Alter”, “Pisser”, “Checker” und “Spasst” die häufigsten die ich am zweiten Tisch hörte. Das der Dealer den Tisch nicht wirklich unter Kontrolle hatte kam noch erschwerend hinzu. Schade.

Prinzipiell sicher eine gute Idee ein solches Turnier. Allerdings sollte an der Umsetzung dringend gearbeitet werden! Es sollten weitere Tische organisiert werden. Die Dealer sollten, wie sonst auch üblich, dafür sorgen das außer den Spielern niemand mit am Tisch sitzt. Teilweise hatte man das Gefühl das hinter einem 20 Leute stehen, um das Geschehen zu beobachten.

Wenn der nächste Dienstag ähnlich verläuft, besonders was die Wartezeiten angeht, werde ich wohl auf den kostenlosen Poker”Spaß” verzichten.

He now meets Simon Whitlock in Wednesday’s final group games, although will need to improve his finishing after missing almost 30 doubles against Mardle.

“The crowd were still on my back but I’ve got through it and that’s all that matters,” said Hankey. “I played better than I did on Sunday but I missed too many doubles.”

Hankey now meets Simon Whitlock on Wednesday, with the Australian securing a second successive victory with a 142 finish to defeat Scott Waites in the deciding leg of their clash.

Today there is some good news that I’ve been dreading to hear. The Routh and San Jacinto intersections are now open. Kaum sind wir mal ein paar Tage nicht da… Die gleiche sonderbare Datenbörse, die bereits anfang April auf ein sonderbares Sprechercasting für ein EA Projekt namens DART verwiesen hatte, präsentiert nun einen Auszug aus einem angeblichen Skript mit so etwas wie Dialogzeilen. Bei DART soll es sich demnach um die bereits im Casting-Aufruf erwähnte Computerstimme handeln.

Auch wenn im Internet sowohl Leute aus dem Umfeld dieser Datenbörse als auch auf der scheinbar unvermeidlichen Nachrichtenplattform cvg bereits keinen Zweifel daran aufkommen lassen wollen, daß es sich bei DART sowohl um Project RedLime als auch um Syndicate handelt, wir zweifeln.

Weder aus dem früheren Casting-Aufruf, noch aus dieser jüngst aufgetauchten Skriptseite geht eindeutig hervor, daß es sich bei DART um Syndicate handelt. Nichteinmal ob DART tatsächlich mit dem real-existierenden Project RedLime im Zusammenhang steht ist eindeutig auszumachen.

Das Pinup Koblenz hat am 24.10.2009 eröffnet und wurde, so war der Eindruck, in kürzester Zeit ins “Industriegebiet” Metternicher Feld gebaut.

Das Pinup verfügt über einen großen Parkplatz so das man den Eingang recht schnell erreicht. Betritt man das Pinup fühlt man sich zunächst sehr klein, weil man in einem Riesenraum steht, zur rechten die Bowling-Bahnen, zur linken die Raucher-Lounge und gradeaus der “Check-In”. Wie wir gestern gelernt haben, sollte man diesen zuerst ansteuern um sich seine Karte, auf der spätere Speisen, Getränke und Aktivitäten gespeichert werden, zu holen.

Hat man seine Karte kann es also losgehen. Wir hatten vor zunächst zu essen, also ging es an den nächstbesten freien Tisch. Einige Tische sind entlang der Bowling-Bahnen gelegen, andere auf einer Galerie und es gibt auch Tische im hinteren Bereich. Wir zogen einen Tisch im vorderen Bereich vor um uns ein Bild der Bowling-Bahnen zu machen.

Wir bestellten zunächst Getränke und später Essen. Die Frauen bestellten Pina Colada da es im Pinup Happy Hours gibt, während der jeder Cocktail nur 4,90 € kostet. Leider wurde nur ein Teil unseres Essens geliefert, da die Bedienung die Ofenkartoffel meiner Frau bei der Bestellung vergessen hatte. Kann passieren, besonders wenn davon auszugehen ist, das das Team dort recht neu zusammengestellt ist und evtl. noch nicht viel Erfahrung in der Gastrononie hat.

Das Essen war jedoch sehr lecker und ist auch preislich in Ordnung. Da wir zum Billiard spielen dort waren ging es also wieder zum Check-In um uns die Kugeln zu holen. Wenn ich richtig gezählt habe gibt es acht Billiardtische im hinteren Bereich des Pinup. Nachdem wir unsere Kugeln bekommen hatten waren alle Tische belegt. Ebenfalls im hinteren Bereich des Pinup sind drei Dart-Automaten.

Gegen 21 Uhr begann im Pinup das Disco-Bowling. Die Musik wurde lauter und die passenden Videos werden durch Beamer an die Wände “geworfen”.  Wir waren uns schnell einig, das man selbst als Besucher der nicht bowlt, durchaus Spass am gesamten Konzept haben kann.

Am Ende haben wir fast zwei Stunden Billiard gespielt und dafür 12 € bezahlt. Ähnlich wie beim Bowling wird auch Billiard nach Zeit berechnet und über die aufladbaren Karten abgerechnet. Am Ende des Besuches geht es dann zum Check-Out, dort erhält man dann sein Guthaben auf der Karte wieder ausgezahlt.

Fazit: Ein rundum gelungenes Konzept, tolle Location und für jeden was dabei. Interessant auch die Möglichkeiten rund ums bowlen, also den eigentlichen Sinn einer Bowling-Bahn. Wir sind uns ganz sicher das das Bowling Center an der B 9 sehr starke Konkurrenz bekommen hat.

Einziger Minuspunkt: Das System mit den aufladbaren Karten. An sich ist die Idee wirklich gut. Allerdings weiss man wohl beim ersten Besuch noch nicht wirklich wie viel Geld man einzahlen sollte. So kommt man schnell in die Situation das die Bedienung bei einer Bestellung sagen muss “es ist kein Guthaben mehr auf der Karte”. Weitere Einzahlungen werden also fällig. Eventuell kann man an diesem System noch feilen, der Rest hat uns wirklich überzeugt. Wir werden wieder kommen.

The closures scheduled for November 12 and 13 have been canceled. Bridge construction including girder erection will continue for the Harry Hines/I-35E/Trinity River bridge structure from Jamison/Bachman Station to the west side of the levy on the Spur 482 frontage road. Certain aspects of bridge construction will require full closures to avoid work over live traffic. Beginning approximately Tuesday, November 10, Little Denton will be closed between Empire Central and Lovedale.

On Tuesday, November 17, there will be a lane shift on Denton at Wyman. Two way traffic will be maintained.

Dallas to See $1.6B DART Orange Line

November 8, 2009 – With the goal of keeping the construction of the Orange Line on track, Irving and DART officials are hurriedly sorting through funding and routing details associated with the train which is to connect Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport with downtown Dallas. Presently, $40 million in necessary land acquisitions are at the center of the debate of the $1.6 billion project.  But the good news for Dallas contractors is that all parties appear to be devoted to the actualization of the project.

The DART Orange Line construction is planned to be completed in 2013, and should bring hundreds of construction jobs to the area.  As officials sort through the final planning and accounting details, Irving contractors and Fort Worth contractors wait expectantly for construction details to be announced.

The junk mail change purse with the bottom sewed.

I apologize for the long delay in posts, but I’ve been rather busy with several different projects.

The Junk Mail Change Purse: I’ve sewed the bottom together, but the material is so stiff that I really wasn’t able to pull it tight. There are a lot of gaps, the thread is visible, and overall I’m just not very proud of it, so I’m not going to bother putting on a zipper.

The Candy Wrapper Change Purse: I have two of the three rings completed for this progect, although I want to rearrange the wrappers on one of them; the colors are a little too clumped for my liking. I should finish with this one soon, in the meantime, here are pictures of the finished rings.

The Crocheted Coin Purse: I saw this pattern online and couldn’t resist making one. It was simple, it only took me about 45 minutes (with Law and Order: SVU distracting me) and the yarn left over from an old project. I think I might give it to a friend, she really likes things like this.

My Sister’s Birthday: For my sister’s birthday, I embroidered a birthday card and crocheted her a poison dart frog – her favorite animal for as long as I can remember. The dart frog I actually completed a while ago, it was the second amigurumi I ever made. I’m not happy with the seams, but overall I think it’s pretty cute.
