I must admit, I suck at keeping blogs. But today is Christmas and I feel like I have to write something here.

So just to recap, December (and November) has been pretty hectic for me because of all the events that were pushed back because of Ondoy. But we all survived that, thank God. The interesting parts of those months were my La Union surfing coverage for Aloha Boardsports where I had to learn how to surf. Not surprisingly, I sucked at the sport and was eaten by the waves. Nonetheless, it was fun and I got to take Lomo photos again like these:

Surfing in San Juan, La Union

After 3 days, we headed back to Manila. I had a one day time off before I go to Davao with my family on the 2nd of December. It was my dad’s birthday and we wanted to celebrate it out-of-town. I found Davao a very nice place. On our first day there, my Uncle Myking invited us to have dinner at his house. We were treated to grille panga ng tuna and tuna sashimi. Since he has work the next day, we were left to wander the city alone so I asked my office mate Joyce, who happened to be a Davao local, on which places to go to. She gladly pointed us to the yummy cafe called Lachi’s and the pasalubong center called Aldevinco. The accessories in Aldevinco were really, really cheap. One fabulous necklace cost about P150 while the normal, everyday kinds can be bought 3 for P100. Quite a bargain right? And since Davao is known for its pomelo fruit, we bought one crate to take home to Manila. And speaking of specialties, we also wouldn’t leave Davao without bringing home some fine Tuna. My parents bought the first class kind from Damosa Park. And I had to stop for Durian Coffee at BluGreys before going to the airport. Here are some pictures:

After Davao, I headed to Fontana in Clark, Pampanga for our office Strat Planning and Christmas Party. For the Christmas Party, the theme was Kiddie Party. I came as Oliver Twist and took home Best in Costume. Haha!

And now, I’m officially on vacation until January 3. Since it’s Christmas, I was thinking the other day about gifts I received for the whole year. I think I was extremely blessed this year. I received one special gift last September 12, 2009. And we’re going to be together again on January 8, 2010. He is the best gift of 2009. Thank you Lord for this man!

Now, it’s still a few more days before the New Year but I already feel the joy of the coming year. It may not be at all easy, tough even, but I know I am strong and I have faith in myself and in others. So 2010, I’m ready to take you by the balls!

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 issue of SUNSTAR Davao A COMPLAINT from the homeowners of Hillside Subd

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 issue of SUNSTAR Davao

A COMPLAINT from the homeowners of Hillside Subdivision in Buhangin, Davao City has been given attention by the Davao City Council.

City Council floor leader Danilo Dayanghirang said Tuesday that the letter of complaint has been forwarded to its proper committee.

“A resolution was already filed and passed to the committee on housing, rural and urban development (chaired by City Councilor Arnolfo Cabling). There will be committee hearings on this which will be attended by the complainants and the respondent,” Dayanghirang said in a phone interview.

More than 90 homeowners of Hillside Subdivision have sought the assistance of Dayanghirang against the officers of the Hillside Bajada Neighborhood Association (HBNA) for their unjust acts that “have caused them agony, inconvenience and embarrassment to the residents who are mostly ordinary people living in a socialized housing project.”

Dayanghirang interpreted the problem as a misunderstanding among the homeowners of the subdivision.

“They (complainants) went to my office and I heard them out. Ang problema nito is wala sila nagsabtanay ba (there’s misunderstanding here),” Dayanghirang said.

In a letter to Dayanghirang dated November 4, homeowners of the Hillside Subdivision are questioning the construction of a guardhouse at the main entrance despite the subdivision having other entrances and several exits.

According to the letter, the guardhouse was constructed above the main water pipe of the subdivision, which is a violation of the city building code. A septic tank was also constructed beside the structure, endangering the main water pipe, which is the source of potable water of the subdivision, the letter said.

Their complaints include the issuance of car vehicles sticker for those entering the premises using the main entrance, mandatory collection of P50 monthly due, and the misuse of the guardhouse.

“A sign of ‘No Sticker, No Entry’ is prominently posted (at the main gate). As such, drivers need to surrender an identification card to be allowed entry even if you are a resident homeowner of the subdivision,” the letter stated.

A P50 monthly due is collected without the mandate of the majority of the homeowners. The monthly dues are requisites before homeowners are issued purok clearances, GKK certificates, barangay clearances and vehicle stickers.

“The guardhouse, manned by Cafgu (Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit) personnel, has become a beerhouse where people eat, drink liquor and loiter anytime,” the letter stated. (JCZ)

Ti’s might be the season of noise and laughter, but isn’t it also a time to take a break and ponder of the past year that we have had. The how, why’s, what’s and the would’ve, could’ve we have in the past year.

What ever this New Year might bring us, still nature has its own way of bringing us back to ourself, and that to be truly aware of what we want we have to be awake.

This group is composed of pretty different individuals. There’s a businessman in the group(Tito Wing2x), a wedding photographer(Tito Bingbong), a teacher (Tita Deinne), students(Tito Paul & Tita Bhing),a registered nurse/professional tambay(Tito Ton-ton), a net cafe attendant(Tito Lalaw), and an online gamer/auditor for a certain company(Tito Oliver) together with wife/mc donalds manager(Tita Malou). A diverse group as you might think but all of us has the same taste of how to go out and have fun.

Anyways, we thought of putting up this humble site for the sole purpose of documenting our Odd-ventures as we call it from time to time. Also, we want to share this oppurtunity to show other people the beauty of friendship captured in the most vivid perspective that we can offer.

1. rea and kris john are both in cebu. they are two of the best people in my life. they will surely be a family to me every time i’m in cebu.

2. i love the malls. it’s not too small, it’s not too big yet i still get lost. haha. but really, i love spending the night in ayala. lights are playful and people are edible. :p

with the gang @ bistro ecila, ayala

3. the smoking thing was one of the best experiences i had in cebu. i still ask my friends from time to time if it’s safe to smoke here and there and they’d just tell me, “wala ka sa davao, cebu ni! bisag asa pwede.” whoa, imagine how that thing made my stay worth-smoking. haha

because yow makes the coffee experience perfect!

The Lone Tree of Turtle Sanctuary in Matina Aplaya, Davao City

The trip to this place was just a side trip of my Mt. Apo climb last April 2009. I asked a favor to Rhonson Ng if he can take me to the sanctuary. He fetched me at my inn around 4am and drove us to the place. I was surprised when I found out that our destination is just located in the city, Punta Dumalag, Barangay Matina Aplaya to be exact.

The turtle sanctuary is a property of Aboitiz but it is turned over to the DENR and to the city of Davao. It is now manned by Task Force Pawikan Davao, an organization tasked to protect and conserve the area. The place is guarded. After the turtles lay their eggs, it will be transferred to a hatchery to protect it from poachers and predators. The eggs must also be protected from rain and seawater.

Year End again.

It seemed only last month when i was with the la-single ladies… waiting in line for VTO’s and party the night away.

Last year we had that exchange gifts with the codenames.. which obviously backfired.. when one decided he was “MARIAH”, the other one “BRITNEY” and the last one “PALAKA” wala na obvious na…

I dont need to remember all the other details that this time last year, all i know is time flew by so quick! Faster than i could say… times first break muna! This year have been very different… this was the year of years as i have predicted in my year-end entry last year. LIFE LOVE LAUGH have been totally ahhumm in the year of the OX.

I was of course still so Blair-ish.. but without the chuckinator.. i got the mother chucker of it all (hehe) but then again.. very NATE-ly and so lonely boy.. Ive met a lot of good friends too this year.. so far so good more Facebook friends than usual hehe. Last year at this time i thought facebook was lonely.. i had 20 friends to start with, sad, everyone adores friendster then. Until boom! Online farming became the next best thing after google. Toodles friendster.

This was the year of the BIG BANG. Michael Jackson died, along with Cory Aquino and my pet goldfish Wiggy. My feelings died too.. only to be sweetly resurrected 6months later heheho! As tita mayet said, to be young and inlove ahahay! Korek ka dyan tita!

2009, i got hooked with TMZ (you know it shows daily in HBO) and laughed with the hosts as celebrities make fool of themselves in the real world. This was the year of never its-too-late-for-romance, ask mar and korina. (Sed texted me, he would never wait till he is 55 to get married ). The year of the New Moon, Harry Potter 6, and Paranormal Activities… i hated all the other movies. Except two when i was kilig from start to end coz someones holding my hands (but thats another story).

To review this year, it will take me till next christmas to complete the details. With all my misadventures, heartaches, happiness, palitaw and a stranger than Katorse teleserye life, ill say it has been a good one. Oh on a great one!

Next year will be another good one i suppose, and best of all it will be with my family in the ceettee of promise DAVAO! I couldn’t be more excited, i couldn’t be more happier.

Here’s to 2009, my barok english, my iyalurve, my sedfrey star, my happy mom and dad, my taller than me younger brothers, my beautiful baby sister and to my lala love.. you survived another year! HAYPAYB!

720 meters long, up to 60 meters high, reaching speeds of 100 kmh and zero adrenalin rush, maybe just some anxiety. There must be something wrong with me. Goshdarn water bottle was producing drag and spun me to the right hence the awkward position. I’ll be back for an inverted zip, maybe that would get my blood flowing. And bring my camera for the ride. View the world through the lens at 100kmh upside down, now that would be a blast.

I forgot to ask which Nikon they used to take pictures of the riders. It was already past 5pm and somewhat dark when we zipped down which explains the fuzzy picture.

Was it worth the cash and the tiring 15 minute hike to the top? Definitely!

I SHALL RETURN!!

p.s. I would like to thank Joie, Jo-Anne and Cathy for letting me tag along. Sa uulitin
