Anoche Fox acabó de emitir la tercera temporada de esa gran serie llamada “Cinco Hermanos” (Brothers & Sisters). Esta entrega no ha sido tan buena como las anteriores, que no por ello mala, porque ha habido alguna trama de relleno como la de Sarah (Rachel Griffiths) con Greenatopia y hemos tenido que aguantar al pesado de Ryan Lafferty (Luke Grimes), el verdadero hijo secreto de William Walker (Tom Skerritt).

Por lo demás, Kitty (Calista Flockhart) y Robert (Rob Lowe), que tuvo un infarto, han acabado con una gran crisis en su matrimonio y es que el senador se ha distanciado un poco y ella casi se lía con otro después de haber adoptado al pequeño Evan, Justin (Dave Annable) y Rebecca (Emily Vancamp) se casan y Tommy (Balthazar Getty) está en México por hacer fraude en Ojai para intentar echar a Holly (Patricia Wettig) de la empresa familiar. Qué manía con poner a Holly de mala si lo que la mujer quiere es velar por sus intereses.

Y Nora (Sally Field)… intentando que su familia permanezca unida. Aunque también le ha quedado tiempo para el amor ya que se juntó con un atractivo arquitecto que realizó el proyecto de la casa de ayuda para los pacientes de cáncer y sus familiares que ha creado sin ánimo de lucro.

Espero qe no tarden tanto en emitir la cuarta temporada, que casi ha llegado a la mitad en Estados Unidos, como han tardado en dar la tecera, porque a los Walker se les echa de menos.

When did this happen exactly? When did going around, looking like Don Johnson from Miami Vice become cool again? Granted, Hugh Laurie from “House” has had that 12 o’clock shadow going on for as long as the show has been running and Dave Annable from “Brothers and Sisters” has gravitated between a stubbled stud and clean-shaven saint for a couple of years now. Even Thad Luckinbill from “Young and the Restless” has exhibited some stubble now and then, although his facial hair is so light it is hardly noticeable unless actively searching it out. Three or four actors sporting this look I can handle, but things have gotten out of control. On TV this season, there has been an explosion of men who are letting their whiskers get out of control, sprouting in really unattractive ways. Jesse Spencer from “House” has gray patches amongst his stubble; Jon Foster from “Accidentally on Purpose” now looks like a middle-aged man instead of the 22-year-old that  he’s supposed to be playing with his new heavy crop of facial hair (thanks for toning it down in the episodes since); Chris O’Donnell from “NCIS: Los Angeles” has stubble that is patchy at best, causing him to look like a homeless person and the list of messy looking men goes on and on.

News Flash, guys- these stubbled looks are not cool!!

The only thing that it succeeds in doing is letting the opposite sex, watching your shows, know that you don’t care about your appearance enough to run a razor over your face in the morning. I do realize that some of you need the stubble to define your tortured characters, but come on guys, some of you need to begin to take little more pride in your character’s appearances.

Think of it like this- most guys expect women to shave their legs regularly, creating a hair-free environment on the face should follow the same principle.

It’s a total turnoff to the female viewer to see a bunch a bescraggled (if this isn’t a word yet, I call dibs!) guys trying to play viable leading men. Your faces are highlighted everytime that your shows air. Why do you want to look like you just rolled out of bed and came to work sans shower and shave? Such disregard for one’s appearance makes the viewer wonder what you’re trying to hide under that mess.

As far as I am aware, we have not travelled back in time to the 1800s where facial hair was all the rage and basically a prerequisite for distinguished men. Stubble, no matter how short, still has the nasty habit of catching stray food. Plus, the prospects of  making out with a stubble grower are not generously accepted by any girl, let alone actresses, due to the subsequent rug burn that follows such a session.  

It is also worth considering what message this behavior is sending to our too-young-to-shave-yet guys. If I were one of these souls, it would speak to me in the following way, ”Don’t give a crap about your appearance. The slacker/stoner look is just fine. “  But the problem is that this look is not fine and Hollywood pushing the bescraggled visage is upsetting.

So a bit of advice, Hollywood men, and please do take this to heart. Go find those razors and use them everyday without fail because a beautiful clean-shaven face is a horrible thing to squander.

He has scored very big with the Spanish TV serials and Spanish movies. Everyone knows that Spanish gentlemen are generally treated sexy. Thus this guy is no special exception. As of now Javier Barden happen to have 3 films in pipeline. What gets me about this guy is the sheer number of awards he has won in his lifetime. In fact his winnings are more than his just nominations. Javier Barden has won 62 various awards for acting and has been nominated 27 times. Top 8th among the top 10 sexiest men in the world is no one other than the Legend! because he is legend. I’m sure I don’t have to explain as to why Will Smith must be among the sexiest. We all have seen how he saves the kitten when killer robot was at his back in iRobot! keeping that apart, born on 25th September 1968 in Philadelphia Will Smith happens to be multi talented chap. Well on the 7th slot of top 10 sexiest men in the world, we have Dave Annable, born on 15th September 1979 in New York, and he had his childhood in Walden. Success of Dave is very recent. In fact he got well noticed from the show that aired in 2005 on FOX named Reunion. He actually started making it big in the year 2006 when he got the permanent role in the serial Brothers & Sisters aired on ABC channel. And for the people who hate college, Dave dropped out of college and finished his diploma from SUNY very very recently, on 15th may 2009. May be this is one more factor which adds to his sexiness. So guys the moral is very clear. Drop out of college and then later finish it after a long gap! you’re sure to be noticed. That was our 7th guy among the top 10 sexiest men in the world.

6. Johnny Depp

6th on the list of top 10 sexiest men list, we have Johnny Depp. I hope the list would change once the Public Enemies reaches every corner of the world. Born on 9th June 1963 in Owensboro, Johny Depp became know world wide from his character “Jack Sparrow” in the Pirates of the Carribean. It is a fact that all the films that have featured Johny have grossed more than 4 billion dollars worldwide. Johnny Depp has won 3 Oscars and has won other 34 awards and has been nominated for 48 awards. He also became popular because of the serial aired on Fox channel, “21 Jump street”. And I believe he became very sexier with the pirates of the Caribbean and he’ll also be seen in the upcoming “Alice in Wonderland”.

5. James McAvoy

Guess who just got sexier among the top 10 sexiest men in the world? Yeah! that’s right! Our “Wanted” guy. I didn’t know that dodging bullets would make one sexy! (I should start learning it). We’ve all seen James coupled with Angelina Jolie pulling off some cool action flicks in “wanted”. Born on 21st April 1979 in Scotland James got his first role in “The Near Room” in 1995 and went on to star in Regeneration. His drama serial Shameless won him comedy awards. He took off with his film The “Last King of Scotland”. And here is a quick info.. He was nominated for the best kiss award for the movie “wanted”. I’m sure he is really WANTED for so many hotties out there. That was our 5th among the top 10 sexiest men list.

4. Brad Pitt

To whom does the sexiest lady on earth go to? 4th among the top 10 sexiest men in the world? Hmm.. May be that is one reason why he has come down in the sexiest list. If Brad were alone, I believe he’d have been the top 1. But look at all those girls (and guys too) who still find him sexy!. Born on 18th December 1963 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, he was raised in Springfield. His early acting began in “Dallas” right from 1987 (gosh! I was just born in that year). He found himself recognized when he took the role of supporting actor in twelve monkeys. But his breakthrough came when people found him in Fight club and Ocean’s series. And try not to forget the Benjamin Button! It swept the 2009 Oscars!. Brad both acts and Produces and does Husbandry for Jolie too! Way to go Brad!. 3. Ryan Reynolds

Oh come on! who says you should have Oscars and Armani to be sexy! look at the 3rd boy among the top 10 sexiest men in the world, Ryan; he doesn’t have that long tailed career, but yet has climbed up to the 3rd spot. How? looks does matter!. Born on October 23, 1976, has been ever since noticed as one of the brilliant Canadian TV actor ( majorly “Two guys and a girl”). He was born in Vancouver. Ryan began his career in the movies in 1993 with the “Ordinary Magic”. Ryan has been better noticed by the comedy roles that he has played, although he acted in the horror movie “The Amityville horror”. And we definitely saw how sexy he looked in the X men origins! Too bad he recently got himself a partner. Ryan stands 3rd among the top 10 sexiest men in the world.!

2. Patrick Dempsey

Who is running behind just one position among the top ten sexiest men in the whole world?? answer is Patrick! Born on 1966 Jan 13 in Lewiston was raised in Buckfield. What many people know about him is the fact that he is a race driver. Now how sexy is that! who doesn’t find the people with leather sexy? Dempsey appeared first on Torch Song Triology, and since then his career has been going upwards. Patrick has also been a great icon on the TV shows. Proof? Go watch Grey’s Anatomy which airs even today on ABC channel. If you don’t know ABC pays him 225000$ for every episode that he does in Grey’s Anatomy. I’m sure I don’t have to explain you why he has to be the sexiest. Just grab Bourne series and cup it up with “The Departed” and the Oceans series, and what do you have? THE SEXIEST MAN IN THE WORLD! Born on 8th October 1970 in Boston, Jason has a long list of career successes to boast about. He got his break from the movie “Goodwill hunting”. The movie did sweep the box office and got Jason.. I mean Matt loads of awards and nominations. Then came his hit movies Fallen Angel and Stuck on You which too got him lot of credits. Matt has lots of movie coming this and the next year. All in all the conclusion is that the dark and amnesic characters are more prone to be sexy. I still wonder where did DeCaprio go? and what about Hugh Jackman? (tratto da Nuovo Oggi di venerdì 23 ottobre 2009) – Ieri fuoco e fiamme per l’ultima grande giornata prima della due giorni che vedrà la consegna dei premi minori e maggiori e la proiezione di gala dei film vincitori.
Tre eventi di cui parlare e da sottolineare. I fratelli Coen con ‘A Serius Man’, Meryl Streep con ‘Julie & Julia’ e l’evento più atteso dai teenager avvero il red carpet e la presentazione (20 minuti di scene) di ‘New Moon’, secondo capitolo della saga di ‘Twilight’.
Il film dei Coen ironizza su una certa categoria della società statunitense e lo fa in modo assolutamente graffiante. Difficile quindi ridere a crepapelle, si ride a denti stretti e se non è così allora il sospetto è quello che la pellicola non sia stata ben capita. Cosa possibile visto che il tutto è piuttosto difficile da interpretare fino in fondo e non è certo il lavoro più lineare dei registi premio Oscar.
Un film “decisamente americano”, che racconta la storia di un ebreo in una cittadina del Mid Wed e dove anche parte dei personaggi sono “attori locali”, hanno ammesso i fratelli Joel e Ethan riguardo alla loro opera fuori concorso. “Il film è girato nel posto dove siamo cresciuti – ha spiegato Ethan Coen all’Auditorium – ma nella storia non c’è nulla di personale, di autobiografico. Il luogo è stato il punto di partenza, tutto il resto è finzione”. Protagonista del film è Larry Gopnik, interpretato da Michael Stuhlbarg, anche lui presente alla conferenza stampa, nei panni di un professore di fisica in un’università del Mid West che, alla ricerca di perduto equilibrio, chiede consiglio a tre diversi rabbini. “Michael è cresciuto in California e vive a New York”, ha detto Joel Coen, “ma mio padre era del Mid West, quindi chissà”, ha scherzato l’attore.
“Volevamo fare un film su personaggi ebrei, – ha detto Joel Coen – in un contesto specifico, in un’epoca specifica”. “Noi siamo ebrei – ha aggiunto Ethan Coen – e questa è una parte enorme della nostra identità ed ha un’influenza enorme su quello che facciamo. Forse chissà, in questa identità c’è anche un certo pessimismo”. Nel film si racconta la sensibilità ebraica del Mid West, hanno ripetuto più volte i fratelli Coen.
“Quella di Woody Allen – ha aggiunto Joel – è invece una sensibilità ebraica tipicamente newyorchese, diversa da quella di questo film”. “Se Antonioni fosse cresciuto a Minneapolis, chissà, – ha detto Ethan Coen – le cose sarebbero andate diversamente”. “Non so se il film descrive il vuoto della società americana”.
Se “A serious Man” sia una commedia o meno? Per Ethan Coen “è semplicemente una storia”.
Molto più divertente, limpido ed apprezzabile è invece la pellicola che vede protagonista la mitica Meryl Streep. Peccato solo che non si sia trattato di un’anteprima ma che in realtà in Inghilterra, ad esempio, è già nei cinema da diverse settimane.
Una pura celebrazione del gusto per la vita. Meryl Streep seduce la folta platea di giornalisti condensando il cuore del suo nuovo film “Julie & Julia”, che racconta due vite parallele ai fornelli, quello della famosa tv chef Julia Child negli anni ‘50 e l’attuale emula con tanto di blog: “Quello che conta è l’amore il sesso e cibo e’ la gemma che brilla in questo film, il messaggio che si nasconde. Il potere soldi carriera sono elementi che mettono in ombra le cose che contano nella vita”. Simpatica e brillante, strappa applausi ad ogni risposta, è un’emozione solo a vederla nella sua calma serafica e nella signorilità piena di charme con cui sopporta problemi tecnici di traduzioni (tra cuffiette che non funzionano). Ogni volta che si parla delle sue interpretazioni, si ricorre a complimenti superlativi: “Ovviamente ringrazio moltissimo, mia mamma mi ha insegnato le buone maniere. Tutti questi riconoscimenti e superlativi non incidono più di tanto perché io conosco i miei difetti e debolezze. E’ proprio la fragilità umana che mi interessa esplorare come attrice, ciò che non e’ perfetto. Sono sempre alla ricerca di qualcosa che mostra fragilità e difetti” Ha conosciuta la vera Julia Chiald? “No, mai incontrata purtroppo. Ma ho avuto uno scambio con lei per posta perché nel 1989 ero attiva nel movimento dello slow food cercavo di promuovere il concetto di mangiare bene e sano. Si chiamava Mothers and Others. La contattammo ma fu scorbutica, non ci diede nessun sostegno, poi e’ diventata più aperta, si era lasciata influenzare da persone che lei rispettava”. E rivela “Con questo film volevo rendere omaggio a mia madre, aveva la stessa età, era della stessa epoca, aveva la stessa gioia di vivere. Quando entrava in una stanza la illuminava, era bravissima a comunicare il suo entusiasmo. Il film è stata per me l’opportunità di interpretare una donna esistita veramente ma tenendo presente una donna che ammiravo, un’opportunità di interpretare una donna che sceglie di guardare alle cose belle della vita”.  Sul caso Polanski: “Mi spiace che si trovi in carcere”.
Sta al gioco anche con le domande più bizzarre, se la frase clou della diva chef “tutti possono disossare un’anatra” poteva ispirarsi al motto di papa Woytila, e lei replica: “sono d’accordo col papa e con Julia sull’anatra, bisogna provarci con tutte se stesse. Una delle opportunita’”. Sul premio Nobel a Obama, commenta: “Sono d’accordo col Nobel a Obama per cuo’ che lui ha promesso, forse non gli abbiamo dato tempo per mantenerle ma e’ sulla buona strada. Lui ha conseguito qualcosa di sostanziale nel cucire amicizie importanti nel mondo”. Quando dichiara di evere 60 anni, fioccano gli applausi in sala, e se tempo fa una diva di Hollywood rimasta anonima ha pubblicato una lettera su un noto giornale in cui chiedeva alla figlia di non fare l’attrice elencando tutte le spiacevoli e negative situazioni, lei commenta: “Non potrei mai scrivere una lettera cosi, la mia e’ stata una vita fortunatissima, nella nostra professione ci sono carriere diverse. C’e’ chi incarna il glamour io non mi sono mai concentrata su questo, ma sul mio essere attrice. E come attrice potevo fare un uomo una donna una vecchia signora grassotta, e ho sempre pensato a me come fatta d’argilla da plasmare. Adesso l’attenzione asfissiante ad essere magre e bellissime. Sotto questa pressione si perde la capacita’ di fare bene l’attrice. Sono felice ma anche preoccupata per le mie figlie attrici, quando arrivano le critiche criticano te e il tuo modo d’essere. Se un giornalista ricorda l’emozione di quando bambino vide Il Cacciatore, lei risponde: “Sono sorpresa che sua madre le abbia lasciato vedere il Cacciatore quando era piccolo, non si fa”. Si ispira a qualcuno: “Ho tratto ispirazioni da tante, rubo ancora, anche dalle attrici con cui lavoro. Meglio rubare agli uomini cosi’ non se ne accorgono”. Invidia?: “Si per Jessica Lange, che ottenne la parte in Sweet dreams”. All’Oscar ci pensa?: “Per me e’ interessante pensare al lavoro più che ai premi. Ho vinto il mio ultimo Oscar 25 anni fa, e sono onorata quando ricevo nomination, sono gi attori a votare. E’ bello che siano i colleghi a valutare. Poi il voto dipende dall’Academy”. Ha un regista preferito? “Non ho un regista preferito non ho neanche un colore preferito o un cibo, mi piace tutto. Forse con alcuni registi non mi sono divertita tanto, ma sono viziata, ho lavorato con i migliori”. Pensa alla regia un giorno? “Alcuni registi direbbero che gia’ l’ho fatto o ci ho provato. Ho opinioni su tutto e parlo anche di cose che non mi riguardano. I grandi mi permettono di collaborare tantissimo”. Con chi vorrebbe lavorare? “Vorrei che Martin Scorsese avesse interesse per un personaggio femminile per una volta, ma non so se ci sara’ tempo”. E se le si ricorda il gala di attori che la celebrarono anni fa, dice: “E’ stata una delle più straordinarie esperienze della vita, volevo morire. Sono passati cinque anni, una serata straordinaria, avevo il cuore gonfio dalla gioia non pensavo di sopravvivere. Era all’American Institute. Quest’anno dovro’ celebrare Bob De Niro per il più importante premio che un artista puo’ ricevere, saro’ io a presentargli questo premio e sto mettendo a punto il discorso, siamo grandi amici”.
Infine un invasione di giovani e giovanissimi per il red carpet di parte del cast di ‘New Moon’, presenti Jamie Campbell Bower, Charlie Bewley, Cameron Bright e la sceneggiatrice Melissa Rosenberg. Il gruppo ha presentato alcune scene del film in anteprima assoluta prima alla stampa ed a seguire al pubblico. Per quel poco quindi che si è visto il prodotto finale sembra migliore di ciò che ‘Twilight’ ci aveva offerto. Se il primo artisticamente era un prodotto deludente, commercialmente vincente comunque, questo seguito potrebbe offrire una nuova prospettiva anche ai più negativi. Fatto sta che sarà vincente sul piano economico anche questo, vista la mole di ragazzine urlanti in cerca di un atografo e visto che è già in fase di realizzazione il terzo episodio, quello che potrebbe concludere la serie televisiva come ci ha spiegato la Rosenberg.
Con ‘New Monn’ il Roma Film Fest si prepara alle molte premiazioni che avranno luogo già da questa mattina e staremo a vedere se il nostro pronostico si avvicinerà alla realtà. Con ‘Up in the air’ (Reitman, Clooney), trionfante per il pubblico e ‘L’uomo che verrà’, di Giorgio Diritti, sul podio più alto per la giuria.

(Season 4, Episode 3)

I spent most of the episode not remember where the hell Sarah has been through all this Kitty drama. It looks like the writers heard my confusion and will fill in all the blanks with next week’s foreign flashback edition.

But before we can get to that, we have to deal with the fact that Kitty has stage 3 lymphoma, which is serious but still treatable. Which treatment is up for debate, and Robert and Nora are up for debating between them. The big thing is telling the family, which Kitty decides to try doing during a Walker family dinner.

Which makes me think Kitty has memory loss, or she’d remember that there hasn’t been a Walker family dinner not end in disaster in the past three years. Why should that change now?

I wasn’t sure if we’d be following Justin to med school, but I’m glad we did. I love his new partner, the new Doogie Howser. With Justin’s war experience and the kid’s book smarts, they just might be able to pull one another through Anatomy. That’d be one class down. This is going to be a lot harder than Justin thinks.

Back to Kitty, and because Justin in med school reminded me of it, Robert made another one of his patented “calls” to secure Kitty a spot in the clinical trial in Boston. In the end, though, Kitty chose to go with the support structure she would have at home, and traditional chemotherapy treatment.

In the end, the family comes together as they always do. This time with an impromptu dinner at Robert and Kitty’s house. And there appears Sarah, apparently oblivious to everything.

Clearly Kitty’s cancer is going to permeate through the entire season, but I’m glad it won’t dominate it. Kitty’s insistence that Justin and Rebecca keep their wedding plans in place just goes to show that life does go on. And Kitty as the matron of honor gives her something to fight for.

If her struggling marriage and son aren’t enough that is. I love the caliber of the acting on this show, and it continues to amaze me week after week. Particularly poignant was the moment when Kevin found out about Kitty’s condition and his subsequent confrontation with her about it.

I’m normally not a family soap kind of guy, and this show has every bit of the trappings of the best of them, but with acting at this level, how can you not appreciate its moments of brilliance. Plus, they can play suspense and mystery better than anyone.

Just what is William Walker’s nemesis up to, sabotaging Ojai’s attempts to get into the cheap wine business. He’s pissed at William so intends to take it out on his company and possibly his family. What is his plan and how far is he willing to go?

(Season 4, Episode 2)

You know, with the caliber of the actors on this show, they can throw almost anything at them and they’ll just nail it every time. The work that Calista Fockhart and Rob Lowe alone give this week is stunning, and then there’s Sally Field. She is the consummate matriarch as Nora! Even Justin and Rebecca weren’t annoying this week.

All of this was perfect so that the episode could properly focus on the bombshell heading Kitty’s way. But what I loved even more than that, was how it played out when she went to talk to Robert about it. It was so believably raw, considering the state of their marriage and the crisis Robert was dealing with.

When she finally threw it in his face, the expression of shock, horror, and bewilderment on Rob Lowe’s face was priceless. It was a brilliant piece of acting. Then, they followed that up with the scene later where she didn’t want to tell him because she didn’t want him to stay because of that. And she “wanted” to believe that he’s staying because he loves her.

There are no easy roads for the Walkers. Even the extended Walker family, Saul and Holly, are in for a rough road it seems. With the economy down, Ojai Foods wines aren’t selling nearly as well. And you know, I’d actually completely forgotten about Ryan after his no-show last week.

But here he is trying to help– Oh yeah, he’s still pretty bitter. But what’s going to happen with the numbers he gave to that man I don’t know. It can’t spell good news for Ojai Foods, Walker Landing or really anyone still affiliated with William’s old building.

We were also treated to a very nice moment between Scotty and Nora, after Kevin dumped his husband at his mother’s house to run off and help Robert deal with his own political crisis. It’s nice to see characters that don’t get a lot of intimate screen-time together opening up and talking about what they’re feeling.

There was no sign at all of Sarah this week, but I guess the only drama in he life, probably, is a continuing string of bad dates. She’ll get roped back in soon enough as soon as Kitty is ready to reveal that she has lymphoma.

I know this show is just like the soap operas. Rich pretty people leading scandalous lives rocked by drama and shock after shock, but it’s just so well done I can’t help myself.

(Season 4, Episode 1)

Every year it still amazes me that I got sucked into the Walker family drama. The last family saga that really got me was Party of Five, and before that it was Little House on the Prairie, but those had dramatic exeptions. Five was kids basically raising themselves while Little House fed my love for those books as well as historical drama.

So how did the stereotypical rich family soap opera antics of the Walker clan not only pull me in, but keep me riveted for going on four years now? I chalk a lot of that up to an amazing cast, brilliant acting and some great dramatic writing.

But the opening sequence for this episode with Justin and Rebecca– That was down-right mean!

You made me wait the entire episode to find out if that car hit them, and of course you know I figured it did. Shit like that’s always happening to someone in the family.

I guess in a way, it still did. Kitty’s diagnosis, whatever it is specifically, is clearly like being run over by a car, only figuratively. As if she didn’t have enough to worry about with her marriage on the rocks and her own feelings of guilt.

As for Justin and Rebecca, I am ready for him to gain some control of that temper. It seems like this couple are fighting so much, you wonder why they stay together.

Then you think of the rest of the Walkers. Every family dinner devolves into a rioutous screaming match so a lot of that seems to be how they communicate. Look what happened at the engagement party.

First, Justin took out his frustrations about the bad meeting he had at med school on Rebecca, and then Nora  and Holly almost got into a catfight over the engagement gifts, revealing Holly’s connection to the family for the first time to Nora’s mother, Ida (Marion Ross).

I loved seeing Ross again. She’s an absolute hoot as the judgmental maternal figure for Saul and Nora. And while it was refreshing to see Nora finally stand up for herself, it was perfectly within character for Ida to not only fail to learn anything from the experience, but to be indignant to the end.

My only hope is that Kitty’s illness and her marital problems don’t push Rob Lowe off the show. I love his character, and what he brings as an actor to the ensemble.

Okay, to be fair, I’m still catching up. I just got inot Brothers and Sisters and I am completely obsessed with the show. I don’t think I’ve fallen this in love with a show since Gilmore Girls. I’ve made it through the first season but I haven’t found a store that sells the 2nd season in town yet.
I have been able to catch up on the Kevin/Scotty storyline thanks to youtube videos. Which I’m thrileld about, they are easily my favorite couple. Luke Macfarlane and Matthew Rhys blow me away. But while I know the main points, I haven’t caught all the action. Even so, with what I do know…
1) I hope Justin and Rebecca can work things out. I don’t know all the middle stuff but Rebecca really fits well with the Walkers. To be honest, I think she helps Nora a lot. And I used to hate Emily VandeCamp as an actress. Everyone went on about her in Everwood, and I never understood it. I do now. She’s absolutely lovely. Holly can die, but Rebecca is different. I’d like Justin to be happy too.
2) Kevin and Scotty. Can they please just be the incredibly odd couple on television that stays together without cheating or any major issues? Please, please, please.
3) Nora. Sometimes I want to kill her and have to remind myself that she is a mother. But I really want her and Roger to be able to work something out. I don’t like that he left his wife, but I guess they had that open relationship thing. I just hope he can begin to understand the devotion to family and she can be able to separate a little.
4) Kitty. Oh, Kitty. She worries me.
5) Sarah. Sarah needs a good man and at the same time she needs to be alone for a little while. Maybe just like 6 episodes into next season.
6) Tommy is a bastard. People can try to explain his actions all they want but I still think Tommy is a complete asshat. End of story.
7) Julia though, I love. I wish she wasn’t gone. Or maybe they can bring her back. After all, Elisabeth’s real dad still loves her. I’m not saying Kevin will go straight or anything wierd but it would be nice to keep Sarah Jane Morris is absolutely brilliant. Finally, I am trying desperately to believe that Ryan as the other child has shown up more because the writers wanted a half-child and the original chemistry between Emily VandeCamp and Dave Annable made it too difficult to keep Rebecca as the half-sister. Because I despise Ryan. Both the actor who plays him and the character. Ugh!
But I need to find the 2nd season and get truly caught up, then the 3rd so I can wait obsessively for the 4th season like everyone else.

Stephen McPherson, president, ABC Entertainment Group, outlined ABC’s plans for next season and unveiled the network’s 2009-10 fall schedule before the advertising and media communities at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall.  

New fall and midseason series include “Cougar Town,” “The Deep End,” “Eastwick,” “Flash Forward,” “The Forgotten,” “Hank,” “Happy Town,” “The Middle,” “Modern Family,” “Shark Tank” and “V.” “Better Off Ted,” “Castle,” “Scrubs” and “True Beauty” join previously announced returning series “America’s Funniest Home Videos,” “The Bachelor,” “Brothers & Sisters,” “Dancing with the Stars,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Lost,” “Private Practice,” “Supernanny,” “Ugly Betty,” “Wife Swap” and “20/20.” “Saturday Night College Football” will also return.

“Our focus is always on delivering the best stories with the most memorable characters on TV, whether that’s established audience favorites or innovative new shows,” said McPherson. “This year we’ve got the best of both. We’re headed into the season with a strong slate of returning series as well as great new shows from one of our best development seasons ever.”

For the 2008-09 TV season, ABC claims four of the top 10 highest-rated TV series in Adults 18-49, including the top two scripted shows with “Desperate Housewives” and “Grey’s Anatomy.” For the fourth straight season, the Network remains a top destination for upscale viewers, delivering five of the top 15 highest-rated TV series and three of the top four scripted shows among Adults 18-49 in homes w/$100K+ annual income. During the fall, the Net finished No. 1 in the November Sweep among Adults 18-49 for the fourth year in a row. ABC’s audience is growing in 2009, delivering across-the-board gains over the same point last year: Total Viewers +2%, Adults 18-34 +14%, Adults 18-49 +4% and Adults 25-54 +3%.   

Fall premiere dates will be announced at a later time. However “Shark Tank” will premiere over the summer following the special 10th anniversary primetime return of “Who Wants to be a Millionaire,” and will then move to Tuesday nights at 8:00 p.m. Please note shows picked up but not listed on the schedule will debut later in the 2009-10 season.

“CASTLE” When viewers first met Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) — a famous mystery novelist and divorced father raising his teenage daughter (Molly Quinn as Alexis), while being kept grounded by his Broadway diva mother (Susan Sullivan as Martha Rodgers) — he was bored with his own success. He then found out that a real-world killer was staging murder scenes depicted in his novels. Castle was questioned by NYPD Detective Kate Beckett (Stana Katic), a bright and aggressive detective who kept her investigations under tight reins, especially the years-old unsolved murder of her own mother. Though they instantly clashed, sparks of another sort began to fly, leading both to danger and a hint of romance as Castle stepped in to help find the copycat killer. Once that initial case was solved, together Castle and Beckett built on their new relationship investigating more strange homicides in New York – as much fun as one could have with death and murder. In the season finale, Castle, against Beckett’s direct order to stay out of her mom’s case, unearthed information in that homicide which may end his relationship with her forever.  Also starring in the series are Ruben Santiago-Hudson as NYPD Captain Roy Montgomery, Tamala Jones as Medical Examiner Lanie Parish, Jon Huertas as NYPD Detective Javier Esposito and Seamus Dever as NYPD Detective Kevin Ryan. “Castle” is produced by ABC Studios. “LOST” After Oceanic Air flight 815 tore apart in mid-air and crashed on a Pacific island, its survivors were forced to find inner strength they never knew they had in order to survive. Having left behind Seattle Grace Hospital and a broken marriage, Addison has moved to Los Angeles for sunnier weather and happier possibilities. “BETTER OFF TED” “Better Off Ted” is a satirical office comedy about successful good guy, Ted, who runs research and development at the morally questionable Veridian Dynamics. No achievement is too far-fetched and no invention too unorthodox for Veridian. Need cow-less meat grown in a test tube? Done. Need pumpkins that also double as weapons of mass destruction? No problem. Ted’s a single dad to a seven-year-old girl, and he loves his job, but he’s starting to take a closer look at the company’s extremely dubious practices. Do you manufacture the best teeth whitener ever if it could also kill off all of the planet’s fish? Probably not, but… Ted’s also fighting an attraction to co-worker Linda, who enjoys small acts of rebellion against Veridian (she’s secretly stealing and hoarding all the company’s creamer packets). But he holds back about his true feelings. He’s already had his self imposed “one office affair” with überboss Veronica. “SCRUBS” This irreverent and offbeat comedy received two consecutive Emmy nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2005 and 2006, and was named TV.com’s “Best of 2007” in Comedy. “Scrubs” focuses on the unique point of view of Dr. John Dorian, or “J.D.” (Zach Braff). After surviving his internship and residency, and year as an attending physician with his own class of unmanageable interns at Sacred Heart Hospital, J.D. is moving on to greener pastures. He continues to face many challenges in his personal and professional life trying to balance his roles as doctor, father to Sam, devoted live-in boyfriend and friend to his very quirky companions at Sacred Heart. In its debut year, “Scrubs” was nominated for two Emmy Awards and a People’s Choice Award. It has received a total of 16 Emmy nominations, and it won an Emmy for Outstanding Multi-Camera Picture Editing in 2005 and another for Outstanding Sound Mixing in 2007. “AMERICA’S FUNNIEST HOME VIDEOS” “America’s Funniest Home Videos” will celebrate its 20th season when it returns in the fall. Hosted by Tom Bergeron, “America’s Funniest Home Videos” is the longest-running primetime show in ABC history and has been entertaining viewers for decades by showing what happens when adults, children and even inanimate objects are at their spontaneous best, “America’s Funniest Home Videos” has given away over $10 million in prize money and evaluated more than half a million videotapes from home viewers. “THE BACHELOR” ABC’s “The Bachelor” is the original primetime romance reality series that offers one lucky man and 25 lucky women the unique opportunity to find true love. The new Bachelor will get to know 25 women via a series of social gatherings and exotic, romantic dates – some in groups, some individually. He will introduce some of the women to his family, and will visit their hometowns for a slice of their life in an effort to determine the woman with whom he is most compatible. “The Bachelor” is hosted by Chris Harrison and produced by Next Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon Television. Mike Fleiss and Martin Hilton are executive producers.  

“DANCING WITH THE STARS” Hosted by Tom Bergeron (“America’s Funniest Home Videos”) and Samantha Harris (“The Insider”), “Dancing with the Stars” challenges celebrities from the worlds of Hollywood, sports, and beyond, to perform choreographed ballroom routines ranging from the foxtrot to the cha cha cha. Celebrities are paired with some of the top professional ballroom dancers in the world and their live televised performances are judged by renowned ballroom judge Len Goodman and dancer/choreographers Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba. “Dancing with the Stars” is the U.S. version of the international smash hit series, “Strictly Come Dancing.” This version is produced by BBC Worldwide Americas. Conrad Green serves as executive producer and Rob Wade and Matilda Zoltowski are co-executive producers. Alex Rudzinski directs.  

“EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION” Put together one very run-down house, a deserving family, several opinionated designers, seven days and what do you get? The answer is “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” The show has won two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Reality Program, plus the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Reality Show/Makeover and the Family Television Award for Best Alternative/Reality Program. Each episode is self-contained and features a race against time on a project that would ordinarily take at least four months to achieve, involving a team of designers, contractors and several hundred workers who have just seven days to totally rebuild an entire house – every single room, plus the exterior and landscaping. The lives of the lucky families are forever changed when they learn that they’ve been selected to have their home walls moved, their floors replaced and even their facades radically changed. The result should be a decorator’s delight… if it can be done in time. “SUPERNANNY” “Supernanny” is in its fifth season with Jo Frost criss-crossing America, taking on some of its toughest parenting challenges. She can tame the wildest toddler, soothe the savage six-year-old and get the most difficult child to overcome problems with behavior, sleep, mealtime, potty training and other challenges that have vexed parents around the world for centuries. The series debuted in America in early 2005 and captivated the country with Jo’s practical, no-nonsense style, honed over 20 years of nannying. “Supernanny” is now an international phenomenon; it airs in 172 territories, almost all of them with Frost as Supernanny. The series has been nominated for a People’s Choice Award. Nick Powell is the creator and executive producer of both the American and British versions of the show. Nick Emmerson and Stephanie Schwam are executive producers of the American version. “Supernanny” is produced by Shed Media US.  

“TRUE BEAUTY” What makes a person truly beautiful? From executive producers Tyra Banks (“The Tyra Banks Show,” “America’s Next Top Model”) and Ashton Kutcher (executive producer of “Punk’d” and “Beauty and the Geek”), beauty is redefined in the popular ABC series “True Beauty.” Gorgeous female and handsome male contestants assume they’re being judged solely on their outer appearance, but they’re only half right; outer beauty is just one component the judges are looking for. Contestants, unbeknownst to them, are also being evaluated for their INNER beauty as they’re tested in challenging situations that require them to make moral decisions. Each episode will showcase an outer beauty and an inner beauty challenge, during which contestants will be judged on everything from how well they perform in photo shoots to how well they respect their elders. The three judges will observe and critique the contestants’ behavior and eliminate one person each week. Only after someone is eliminated will the truth about the show be revealed to him/her, as they watch a video montage of their behavior captured by a hidden camera during the shoot. At the end of eight episodes, one winner will be declared, a person who is truly beautiful inside and out. “WIFE SWAP” Each week two very contradictory families from across the country participate in a two-week-long challenge: The wives exchange husbands, children and lives (but not bedrooms) to discover daily life in another woman’s shoes. This astonishing experiment repeatedly changes lives and redefines families. In the first week of the swap, the wives move in and adopt their new family’s lifestyle, no matter how different it may be. They agree to follow a manual written by the departing wife that sets out the rules of their new household – how they parent, shop, do the house work, manage their budgets and their social life. In the second week, everything changes. The new wives take charge. They introduce their own set of rules and get to run the new household their way. It’s a radical shock to both families. I just finished taking my online personality quiz to find out what cast member I would be. Turns out I am Justin, and he’s my favorite character so that kind of made me happy.
My answer for the quiz read, “You’re easy going, warm and fun to be around. And maybe you partied a little too hard at times in the past, but who can blame you? Your family and friends are crazy, and you’re the first one they confide in when something goes wrong. But you need to stay happy and healthy, so remember your own needs come first. It pretty much describes me down to every little detail, I know. I must be just that amazing! Though the Justin I have come to know and love, isn’t anything like this. The Justin I know is an emotional wreck, he can’t really handle a relationship, and he formerly had a drug addiction. So the person they described on ABC.com is a completely different person than I thought he was, which I find very interesting. Though Justin is my favorite character, I’m not sure if I would want to be him.
He’s my favorite character because a lot of unusual drama revolves around him. The show is based on drama, but Justin has to deal with the stuff that isn’t always normal. Like I mentioned in an earlier blog, Justin is dating Rebecca, who he once thought was his sister. Last time I checked, stuff like that doesn’t happen on a daily basis, to anyone. I also like Justin because he is finally getting his act together. He’s applying for Medical school and hopes to become a doctor, and I respect him for that.

Who Sienna should have been F-ing instead of the married dude

Sienna Miller confirmed that she is now single. Word on the street is Balthazar Getty is going back to his wife. I’m only mentioning this because this weekend I watched about 6 hours of that show Brothers & Sisters. Sienna should use her magical vagina claws to grab up the guy that plays Justin on the show. I just Googled him – the name is Dave Annable and he’s a cutie. That’s a picture of him above with a dog to make you swoon. Happy Monday!  Oh, and remember ladies & gents, f-ing a married dude never works out for anybody.

Britney’s tatertot Jayden James is in the hospital but it’s not as serious as other sites were reporting this morning.  Turns out that little JJ just ate something that didn’t agree with him.  He DID NOT have a seizure and K-Fed is NOT on his way to Louisiana.  JJ will likely be discharged tomorrow.

In other Britney news, she will be spending Thanksgiving in Europe. According to her official website, she’s going over to Europe to perform on Star Academy in France and X Factor in the UK. This is really very exciting news, y’all. It’s a sound decision by her team to have her first performances be on European shows. Sure, we will all get to see the You Tube clips, but the audiences over there tend to be a little nicer and less critical than here in the states.  This comeback is really happening.       

Mariah Carey told the Daily Mirror that her and her baby-hubby Nick Cannon did not have sex until after they were married.  And there you have it. Golddiggers of the world take note.  Nick did this thing right.

Lindsay Lohan told Harper’s Bazaar that she is a bi-sexual.  Well, maybe.  Yeah, she is.   But, maybe.  Yeah.  And she also told them she is definitely not a lesbian.
