Hey guys! I’m back in rainy old Melbourne now sorting out the final details for the EP–a

Hey guys!

I’m back in rainy old Melbourne now sorting out the final details for the EP–album art, track listing, and the like! Be sure to mark your calendars, because on May 1st I will be making a radio appearance for a show on 98.9 Northwest FM in Melbourne. You’ll get to hear the album version of the new single Babe, You’re No Good, as well as a live acoustic performance on the air! If you’re not in Melbourne, you can tune in and listen HERE.

The whole recording process was absolutely amazing (You can find out more about it by watching the video blogs posted here on the webstie!) and I miss waking up and starting work in the studio everyday already. Although, I’m definitely enjoying having a couple of days to relax at last–I’m sitting on the couch watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas in the middle of April!!! Scott has flown back to Sydney where he will be playing bass for a slew of shows with a Sydney based band called Chi Chi and the Go Go’s, which you can check out on Facebook HERE! If you’re sydney based, go out to a show and be sure say hello to him!

Stay chipper, kids.

It’s nearing the end of another long day in the studio! Today we worked on tracking some Bass lines and rhythm guitar. The drums recorded yesterday are sounding fantastic, the songs are all really starting to come together with the addition of Scott’s pieces on the bass guitar! It’s after ten p.m. now, and Scott and I are still up working out the finer details of the bass sounds–can’t wait for you guys to hear it all happening on the EP! Can’t wait to crash out sometime (hopefully) soon and get some much needed rest before tackling lead guitar and the rest of Scott and mine’s guitar work early tomorrow morning, and the rest of the percussion with our session drummer Marc tomorrow afternoon! Check back soon for the next video blog!

Yesterday was the first day of recording for the new EP, which was spent in a church from the 1800

Yesterday was the first day of recording for the new EP, which was spent in a church from the 1800′s that has been converted into a bar called God’s Kitchen. We spent over ten hours laying down drum tracks for each song on the EP and watching our amazing session drummer Marc start to bring the project to life. It was an especially amazing experience for me as I have of course had each song playing in my head for over two years now, and I finally got to hear them all with the drums I’m always air-drumming out while writing…drums and percussion make up some of my FAVOURITE instruments!

Today our schedule looks like this: we will be choosing the best takes from the drum tracks we laid down at the church yesterday, and then we will move on to recording some lead guitar tracks with our session guitarist Phil, as well as laying down some bass lines later in the day. After such a long day yesterday, we are happy to have a slightly later start to the morning (it’s just past 9 here and I just woke up!) and to have the whole day at the studio to get things done. Check back later today for another video blog!
