Levell Crump better known as David Banner, stepped onto the Hip-Hop scene with his gritty lyrics and pleasantly plump figure telling all the “real girls to get down on the flo.” Soon thereafter he shocked the world by dropping several LBs and turning into a fit and trim community activist.

As previously reported Banner acted out after the sad and perilous Derrion Albert beating by organizing a rally in the Chicago community. Now he’s lending a helping hand out to the community once again this time by promoting his tips on health and fitness.

Banner is teaming up with fitness company Pump One for a new I-Phone application called “David Banner’s Workout or Die.” The new fitness program will feature workout videos of fitness routines David finds helpful.  It will also feature live streams of the new fitness guru available to consumers at no extra charge.

His I-phone application will not be available until early next year.

Rapper and actor David Banner has partnered with interactive fitness company PumpOne to create an application for the iPhone and iPod Touch that will allow fans to benefit from what Banner learned during his personal weight-loss and fitness journey.

“David Banner’s Work Out or Die” offers subscribers videos of the various workout strategies that Banner has found effective and a host of tools to support their decision to attain and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

The application also allows Banner to record streaming-video content as often as he wants, which is then delivered to those who have purchased the app at no additional cost.

“People are really interested in how I lost weight,” Banner told AllHipHop.com. “One of my friends that works at Apple said, ‘You need to take it to your people and stop talking about it. You’re helping people’s lives. That’s a way for you to continue that movement.’ And I decided to do it.”

PumpOne, which launched it’s first iPhone/iTouch application in 2008, creates both interactive programs and traditional resources like books, corporate fitness programs, personal trainer memberships and physical therapy.

The company has also partnered with Men’s Health, Women’s Health, and Shape to create applications that eliminate the need to clip fitness advice from the pages of those magazines.

In 2008, after having ballooned to more than 255 lbs, David Banner dropped an impressive 58 lbs in just three months.

His decision to lose the weight was motivated by a need to improve his health condition.

Prior to dropping the extra pounds, the rapper suffered from high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and was dangerously close to falling prey to diabetes as well.

So great were his health concerns that an emergency room doctor who treated Banner after a motorcycle accident was more interested in treating and resolving his high blood pressure issues, than treating the injuries from the crash.

After speaking to AllHipHop.com about his health, Banner said the staggering number of young Black and Latino fans who approached him about sharing those issues prompted him to share what he had learned about maintaining a healthy eating and exercise regimen.

Banner’s weight-loss also helped him and his physician discover that his high blood pressure was in fact a genetic issue, thus allowing them to develop a plan to keep him healthy.

“David Banner’s Work Out or Die” will be available in early 2010.

Planet Hulk is one of the best graphic novels I have read since the Watchmen, real talk bee! My man Jay let me hold it at work and I fell in love with the story. Basically it involves Reed (Bitch) Richard, Doc Strange, Black Bolt and Ironman. These 4 bitch niggas tricked the Hulk to leave Earth then BOOM sent him to another world where he would become a slave. On the new planet Hulk is very weak and must regain his strength over time, but we all know the angrier Hulk gets the stronger! If you into the graphic novel thing or not, It’s an all around good read. Oh yea IT’S THE HULK BEE!!!! HHTT APPROVED

Some would have ventured to say that Jay-Z had lost his influence over the game. Up until the release of “D.O.A.,” a majority of the people would have agreed with that statement.

Two years away from the game, Jay-Z pretty much said that he was tired of rappers using the auto-tune machine. Just like that, it seems like urban radio stopped playing auto-tune filled music. Since the release of that song, Ron Browz has pretty much disappeared.

While Jay-Z did the true hip hop fans a service by putting the auto-tune machine to rest, he gave birth to the over-reliance of the sequel album. Since the release of his The Blueprint 3, rappers such as Fat Joe and Raekwon are also following up their most notable albums. Next year, add Ja Rule to that list when he releases Venni Vetti Vecci.

Now that it appears that the album title thing will become an epidemic, the “death of…” titles in music will be the next thing. The first rapper to imitate Jay-Z’s “Death of…” title will be David Banner when he releases his free online album, Death of a Pop Star. Jay-Z deaded the auto-tune trend, but he has seeminly embraced the pop star trend in hip hop.

Seeing how most of the artists considered as “pop” are making good music, no one has said anything. It has been one year since David Banner has had any new music out, so he must see a chance to re-emerge into the game. The pop rappers have taken over, but they have yet to slip. David Banner is just letting them know in advance with this album.

David Banner wants to thank all those who were in support in making the “Something is Wrong” rally in Chicago a success, and offers an opportunity for everyone to save our kids.

CHICAGO — The community rally and video shoot for David Banner’s “Something’s Wrong,” originally scheduled for Tuesday (October 20), won’t be happening until mid-November. According to a press release from Banner’s Heal the Hood Foundation and 247HH.com, the event was postponed due to an increase in the anticipated number of attendees and resulting safety issues.

Despite the event’s postponement, Banner was in good spirits when MTV News caught up with him in Chicago. “If we would’ve been doing ‘Girls Gone Wild 17,’ everything would’ve went smoothly. Honestly, nothing went wrong,” Banner said. “The truth this time is that there was an overwhelming response, and it was too big.”

Banner said they were only expecting 500-700 attendees, but that number quickly grew to an anticipated 2,500. He said the projection showed him that “people are sick and tired of talking, and they are read to move. They’re just waiting on somebody to move them in the right direction.

“Sometime you have to make a decision that’s better for the people,” Banner continued. “If we would’ve had 2,500 hundred people, it wouldn’t have had the proper security. If anything would’ve went wrong, they would’ve said, ‘Look at them rappers. Look at MTV. Look at David Banner.’ So I made the decision: Since we know that we have this power, and people know that we’re in the position to make something move, let’s push it back and organize it.”

Banner planned to film the video for the remix of his song “Something’s Wrong,” featuring Twista, Naledge of Kidz in the Hall, Rhymefest and Scooter. Though the remix is dominated by Chicago artists, Banner said that in the original song, he wasn’t just talking about the Windy City.

“Whether America wants to admit it or not — whether you’re Christian, Muslim, whether you believe in Buddhism — whatever you believe in, we know in our spirit that right now something is not right,” he said.

The politically correct David Banner dedicates this track to Derrion Albert who was beat to death in the cold Chicago Streets…[Pause] Let me elaborate about the gang life in Chicago…I was born and raised on the Southside of the Chi…As a matter of fact Ma Duke went to Fenger High School, and Derrion was killed right around the corner from “Tha Crib”…In no way am I glorifying the gang life, but in Chicago there’s really no way of avoiding the gang culture…It’s everywhere.  As a young’n I lost PLENTY of patnas to gang violence…It’s not something you can choose to do, or not to do. It’s just a way of life.  As much as I support the need for change in Chicago, IT WIIL NEVER HAPPEN! 9th Wonder is the National Ambassador of Hip Hop Relations and Popular Culture for the NAACP. How long you think it took him to learn that title?

The Derrion Albert murder shook the nation to its core, spotlighting a growing problem in the Chicago area. Especially touched by the tragedy was David Banner who teamed up with producer, 9thWonder for the release of the song “Something’s Wrong” in tribute to the young boy and others affected by the Windy City’s violence. Now Banner’s enlisting the help of some of his Hip-Hop affiliates for the video shoot which will also serve as an anti-violence rally.

Contributing to Banner and 9^th Wonder’s cause are Twista, Rhymefest, Naledge, Skooda Chose, AK , Crucial Conflict, Malik Yusef and The Cool Kids. Also in attendance will be Tiffany from the Bad Girls Club, family and friends of victims of violence, Chicago public school students, community churches, politicians and local residents.

MTV is highlighting the event and sending Sway to cover the video shoot for an in depth documentary on violence in the area.

Very important message here with many great lines that I will be expanding on soon. This will not be the last time I will be writing about the death of Derrion or the future of our youth. This issue isn’t something that will become outdated. If it is still happening in our neighborhoods then it is still an issue. Remember all of those videos of studio sessions with David Banner and 9th Wonder? Well here is another one of those tracks from those sessions. This song comes in response to the horrific violence among teens, specifically the murder of Derrion Albert in Chicago. Banner and 9th Wonder have a couple projects that they are working on that will release over the next couple of years. One of them is a comic book inspired mixtape that will feature both of them as superheroes. David Banner may not be on of your favorite artists, but you can’t go wrong on a 9th Wonder track.
