In a PR Blitz that even caught the Associated Press’s attention, QVC Monday announced it is looking to give brick-and-mortar stores a run for shoppers’ money on Black Friday.

In a press release, QVC claimed it “is seeking to redefine Black Friday by offering all of the deals shoppers are looking for, with none of the craziness.”

To kick off “The New Black Friday, QVC is inviting America to get a jump-start on its post-turkey gift shopping with 28 hours of nonstop holiday shopping,” we are told.

The games Thursday, Thanksgiving evening, at 8 p.m. and continue until Friday at 11:59 p.m.

QVC Host Dave James

“When conventional retailers zig, QVC zags,” Claire Watts, QVC’s president of U.S. Commerce, said in a prepared statement. “This year, we’re joining the Black Friday fray – but in our own way – to make holiday gift shopping easier and more enjoyable than ever. The New Black Friday event at QVC offers a welcome escape from the mayhem – no long lines, no traffic, plus our customers can rest assured, knowing that they found really special gift ideas, at exceptional values.”

In addition to five hours of all-new, specially priced gifts Thanksgiving evening, QVC will offer three Today’s Special Value offers, items presented at exceptionally low prices, for a specific period of time. Holy crow!

AP’s David Bauder — who is a very nice guy, by the way — reported that QVC host Dave James will stay up 28 hours straight to do “telethon-like coverage” of the Black Friday event.

QVC shoppers will also get a sneak peek at the TSV for Saturday at QVC.com.

The nonstop shopping continues throughout the day on Black Friday, as QVC will offer a specially priced offer in every hour of programming. There will also be additional, specially priced offers at QVC.com.

QVC’s Black Friday programming will include, keeping with that Thanksgiving theme, “a cornucopia of terrific holiday gift-giving ideas”, the press release says.

Those include: the Nintendo Wii Gaming System with accessories, case and games; Panasonic HD Video Camera; Clarisonic Facial Cleansing System (enough with that damned Clarisonic!); and Philosophy Merry-Mint Chocolate Box 3-in-1 Shower Gel Duo.

Throughout the holiday season, QVC has extended its returns policy; gifts purchased between now and Dec. 23 may be returned up until Jan. 31 next year. But that’s not special: HSN and ShopNBC have done the same.

It doesn’t matter whether or not you like Bill O’Reilly. What does matter is that this interview was the first time Barack Obama had to answer some hard questions. Even Associated Press reporter David Bauder had to admit this when he wrote:

The Democrat waded into cable TV’s blood feud, between Keith Olbermann of MSNBC and Bill O’Reilly of Fox News Channel, becoming as much a bit player as any even-odds presidential candidate can be.

In one interview Obama had to fight — not always successfully — to keep from being shouted down. In the other he couldn’t succeed in keeping a straight face at the ease of the softballs tossed at him.

We’ll leave you to guess which is which.

Even though there were no shout-downs on O’Reilly. But still, it is a huge admission as to the bias of NBC.

I think it best that the general public get a chance to see all of the videos and make their own decisions, their own camparisons between the O’Reilly interview and how Obama got treated on other networks.

By: John Keitel The network and cable coverage of the Iraq War has all but disappeared. David Bauder

By: John Keitel

The network and cable coverage of the Iraq War has all but disappeared. David Bauder, of MiamiHerald.com, writes;
“Statistics clearly illustrate the diminished attention. For the first 10 weeks of the year, the war accounted for 3 percent of television, newspaper and Internet stories in the Project for Excellence in Journalism’s survey of news coverage. During the same period in 2007, Iraq filled 23 percent of the news hole.

The difference is even more stark on cable news networks: 24 percent of the time spent on Iraq last year, just 1 percent this year.”

The big reason for this precipitous drop in “news” coverage is that improvement and progress is occurring in Iraq. That is against the political mantra of the leftist media. They believe if they say it will fail enough, people will begin to believe in failure. Which is what they want anyway, failure or the belief it will happen. This being a political year failure of Iraq is the only way Iraq will be in the news. Successes in Iraq spells doom for the Democrat party line, get out now the war is lost.

The secret is that a large majority of Americans think the surge is working and that we will win in Iraq. The people are right success is occurring. Political progress is being made. And combat deaths are down below 30 a month. in contrast, 20 years ago yesterday Saddam Husein gased 3,600 Kurds to death in one day with an attempt at genocide.

Brauder also writes; “It’s possible to pinpoint the exact week that the switch turned off. The war averaged 30 minutes per week of coverage last year on the three network evening newscasts up until Gen. David Petraeus, commander of the U.S. forces, testified in September about the surge’s progress, according to news consultant Andrew Tyndall. In the last 15 weeks of the year, the broadcasts collectively spent four minutes per week on the war.”

Great job Gen. Petraeus, you have taken the fight to the enemy, you’ve saved lives, you’ve built lives, and are putting lives back together. And at the same time sent the old media hiding. As long as they stay off of the subject they will do less harm. But could they actually help?

Yes, they could, but that would mean having patriotism, a uniting the likes of WWII. Calm down, this won’t happen. Since the 1960’s the media has been trained with the intent of instilling the most marxist ideals possible. This is antithetical to Freedom, so the ideals they have learned are for the purpose of destroying our Republic. Not supporting it.

They do not want our country to united they only seek to divide us into categories, labels to place upon us to oppress us. Martin Luther King taught to measure by character. People of character would ban together in a unified spirit to lift this country up. Not wish and work towards its demise.

David Bauder of the Associated Press, writing on the shrinking audience for NBC News and Brian Williams, notes some numbers, and then writes:

To be fair, the nightly news audience traditionally drops when warm weather arrives, and it has been a slow news period.

Bauder, and by extension, NBC Nightly News, has apparently missed a few issues, including that the United States is fighting at least two wars; that a Presidential campaign is underway with a couple of dozen candidates; that the President is disliked and hated by more people every day; that the world faces an environmental catastrophe that could wipe out life on the planet; that Congress is embroiled in an incredibly dangerous series of battles with a power-hungry and oligarchic Presidency; and that the press and the media have sunk to a level of competence that makes Mike Brown of Katrina fame look like a frigging genius.

Slow news period? Jeez, Bauder, someone ought to make you put your journalism credentials back in the cereal box from which you stole them.
