We all love house music, David Guetta, Laurent Wolf, Armin Van Buuren, even Tiesto for those accustomed to that deeper shit or have been to Amsterdam. But let’s be honest: is there a place for house in mainstream American music? We’ve already seen it start happening, the release of Sexy Bitch catalyzing interest into the genre across the board, particularly in college students. House music = instant party. Let’s take a look at the lyrics to a typical David Guetta song compared to “Sexy Bitch”…

Let’s compare the two. “Love Don’t Let Me Go” is all about partying and love, ecstasy (in both senses). “Sexy Bitch” takes a more ‘traditional’ American rap-lyrical approach with themes pertaining to “the way that booty movin” and other sexually deviant remarks – not exactly the more ’spiritual’ side of house music that its fans can attest to. “Sexy Bitch” is a step towards American mainstream and a step towards selling out – the beat is subpar and the lyrics of David Guetta, usually performed by the incredible voice of Chris Willis, are being ‘dumbed down’ to assimilate to typical American standards. I did enjoy several other tracks on One Love, though, as they proved that Guetta still has the ability to deliver some great beats for the club-hopping community. “When Love Takes Over” is a better example of a European house/American pop fusion, with Kelly Rowland’s incredible voice balancing out with the addictive bass and catchy piano-loop (despite the fact that it is a clear Coldplay rip-off).

The height of ridiculousness just might be described as David Guetta, an iconic symbol of music and culture throughout Europe, on Lopez Tonight, a low-tier late-night talk show having little to no credibility in the television-watching community. I dread the next David Guetta album – the day you have house music on the radio is the day house music is OVER.

I made the monthly quota of at least 1 post per month! Yay me!

Super Mario is the greatest freaking game ever created in the history of forever. I would write more and try to be funny or something but I have to play more Mario so i’ll make it brief.

I’ll never get bored of it, and i’m sure you won’t (but maybe I should speak for myself cause I can’t make it past the first level in this version of the game (I can in others, i promise)), but to spice things up, here’s a suggestion:

-Put the game on mute, and play techno/house (david guetta’s sexy bitch, daft punk’s harder better faster stronger,  or kanye’s stronger as personal pump-up favorites of mine) as you play, and you’ll feel a totally new connection with mario/luigi and play harder, making you feel invincible. The downside is that you’ll be like 10 times more crushed when mario dies.

To make more time for Super Mario:

-play on a laptop, you can bring mario anywhere (unless of course you have a nintendo GB, GBcolor, or anything along the timeline up to DSlite).

-eat dairy products, and bring mario to the bathroom when the baby starts a-kickin’ (of course this implies that you’re lactose intolerant and that you have a laptop).

More tips later, maybe. So much for brief.

My friends and I wanted to grab tickets to the David Guetta show at the commodore on Dec 30th, but since he did ’sexy bitch’, he has apparently become the new MJ. The tickets (which were going for $75.00) were sold out on ticketmaster.ca by 11 am. The cocksuckers who bought 14 tickets at a time started lighting up Craigslist to sell their tickets to the highest bidder. Tickets were going for $250-$350.

Some people, however, are not out for money. Check out this guys Craigslist ad and try to realize that this is serious. I would like to thank Arv for finding this ad and sharing it with me. The two have “broken” the charts with “When Love Takes Over”, so they have decided to repeat the success by joining forces again on Kelly’s next album. “I’m actually already working with her on her next album. We’ve just done a few songs at the moment and it’s all fairly top secret. We’ve become really close friends over time.  Check out the cover for Kelis new single ”Acapella” produced by David Guetta. The song is off her new LP due out spring 2010. While I’ve heard the electric track it’s still got a while to go before it’s fully grown on me. Somewhat I’m still a bit iffy on the cover, I like it but I dont like it. Theres somewhat an animal that Kelis is reminding me of here but i cant put my finger on it.
