I dined out at David’s in Prahran recently, ostensibly to fill in time before seeing Valentino: The Last Emperor at the Como, which is one of my favourite cinemas in Melbourne. The funny thing is, my friend and I ended up missing the film because the meal took nearly three hours. Talk about reclaiming the lost art of the long dinner. We arrived at seven, and left at 10pm.

I’ve always had a mild fascination with going to David’s, as I love yum cha and their Shanghainese, Chinese-herb influenced menu is rumoured to be very good. Our mistake was in ordering one of the banquets (I know, I know – banquets are the gringo of the menu), based on the fact that many of our favourite classic dishes made an appearance (steamed rockling fillets, Peking duck, spicy squid etc).  While the subtly flavoured rockling fillet rested placidly in a vegetable stir fry so delicate it looked as if it has been prepared by an otherworldly creature with baby-sized fingers – and the peking duck was good – the pork and prawn san choi bao was refreshing but bland and the spicy squid’s greasy residue and toughness would not have been out of place at a gang fight in the Smorgy’s carpark. I know that pan-Chinese food such as spicy squid is not what David’s is renowned for, but I also figure, hell if you can’t do the classics well, it hardly encourages me to try the rest. Waiting time between dishes is supposed to create anticipation that makes the experience sweeter; wait too long for food that’s less appealing than the sum of its parts and the minutes turn into a domino effect of disappointment.

Who said smoking was banned from commercial kitchens?

The black bean rib eye was, admittedly, unrecognisable in quality from its cheaper suburban counterparts: richly textured, Mile High calibre beef served with crunchy Shanghai cabbage and fried rice teeming with large prawns. The highlight, however, was the dessert, an almond pudding that combined the viscosity of an exploded marshmallow with the syrupy flavour of smoky caramel. It came scattered with crumbs that bore an uncanny resemblance to cigarette ash. A beautiful cremation of an un-necessarily protracted affair.

That said, this is a great place to go if you want to spend the evening staring into the milks of someone’s eyes and watching them slowly curdle with the stagnancy of time (no seriously, we covered all manner of topics, ending with some really out there get rich-quick -schemes). Or you could just bring a hell of alot of booze and get really shit-faced. Unfortunately I wasn’t in the drinking mood. What a waste.

I concluded that the food we ate was like a well-tailored, expensive beige suit. It fits well in all the right places,  it’s certainly not cheap, it’s got the requisite designer label, and it’s just good enough to ensure you receive a high level of service at the David Jones counter. But… it’s a little bit boring if you know what I mean.

O holandês Davids – que na verdade nasceu no Suriname – vai fechar contrato com o Bragantino. Por meio de sua acessoria de imprensa Davids chegou a se comparar com o Fenômeno Ronaldo:

“Hoje tem dinheiro girando no futebol brasileiro, e pouca exigência profissional. Os craques, mesmo veteranos, tem mais futebol que os mais jovens. O nível está baixo.”

O caso que mais chama atenção é o do italiano Vieri, que já aposentou por 3 vezes e agora está acertado com o Botafogo de Riberão Preto. Segundo o próprio ex-atacante do Milan e da Internazionale os torneios no Brasil são interessantes também por outras razões:

- Mulheres bonitas, festas e muita praia. Os gringos são adorados no Brasil. É uma beleza. Cravou o sorridente artilheiro, talvez acreditando se tratar de uma proposta do Botafogo do RJ.

This week Leicester have failed to beat local rivals Derby County, beat a poor Palace team and be linked with a world class midfielder, oh, I meant former world class midfielder. I have read that some other Leicester followers do not want to take a risk on such a player, but I am in the camp of, he used to grace the Nou Camp, the San Siro and many world cups, so he can only be a benefit for the clubs progression. He is a winner, and we have a young squad, they can learn a thing or two about commitment, dedication and a hunger for winning games. Fair enough, we’re not doing that bad at the moment, yet his presence could be the difference between missing out on the play-offs and being a maybe force for promotion.

When mentioning the prospect of signing Edgar to friends, we’re on first name terms, they all supporting other clubs, still thought the signing would be a major coup for the club. They’re right as well. Who was the last player to play for the club that had a major reputation in world football. Roberto Mancini at the age of 37? I struggle to think of other players that have been there and done that in Europe.. You could argue that Bruno N’Gotty had played for AC Milan, yet he hardly made an impact on the world stage. Edgar Davids has, and still is an icon of the game. I remember him featuring in Nike commercials with his striking dreads and his trademark goggles.

If he does sign for the club, I would be chuffed to say the least. The shirt sales will go through the roof, as will the number of Oakley’s being sold in Leicester on match days.

Will he sign? Probably not if I’m honest, I see it as a publicity stunt, driven by Milan Mandaric. But if he does, you will see me with a Davids shirt, wearing goggles and attempted dreadlocks at the Walkers soon.

Voglio parlare di un campione che ha vestito la maglia bianconera dal 1997 al 2004 il cui soprannome è anche il nick che ho scelto per scrivere su questo blog: il pitbull Edgar Davids.

Fui impressionato da Edgar già dai tempi in cui poco più che ventenne contribuiva ai successi di un Ajax già molto forte anche se poi non fece esattamente una bella figura al cospetto del centrocampo juventino dell’indimenticabile notte del 22 maggio 1996 guidato magistralmente da Conte & Deschamps.

Quando il ‘direttore’ nel 1997 lo portò  a Torino dopo la deludente parentesi in rossonero non mi entusiasmai più di tanto in quanto avevo il forte dubbio che fosse poco adatto al campionato italiano di allora. Ebbene, dovetti ricredermi. E presto anche.

Calciatore dalle doti fisiche fuori dal comune e dotato di una tempra che ho riscontrato solo in pochi altri ‘esemplari’, polmone inesauribile e cursore di livello eccelso, era un tipo di centrocampista che sapeva alternare le randellate quando era necessario lottare a giocate degne del miglior Cristiano Ronaldo, e non credo di esagerare.
E’ forse stato il giocatore che più mi ha fatto incazzare e smadonnare quando puntualmente beccava un giallo o ci lasciava uno in meno per un eccesso di agonismo. Ma che grinta ragazzi, che personalità, che leader: insomma, che gran pezzo di giocatore. Chi non ha provato scariche di adrenalina pura quando mordeva letteralmente le gambe degli avversari con il suo classico andamento saltellante o con un tackle rubava palla all’avversario che lo guardava ripartire come un fulmine creando spesso la superiorità numerica che ci consentiva di concretizzare in goal l’azione? Chi non ha desiderato almeno una volta indossare quegli occhiali diventati simbolo di grinta e determinazione e catapultarsi in campo per lottare con lui durante un match da recuperare o da vincere a tutti i costi? Un guerriero, un lottatore, uno che non si risparmiava mai e che sapeva conquistarsi il posto da titolare non con le parole ma con prestazioni di livello assoluto.

Mi manca un giocatore così e credo che più di tutto manchi alla mia Juventus.

Mesmo tendo perdido a Copa América para o México, a Seleção Brasileira concluiu o ano de 1999 com importantes amistosos, contra fortes seleções. Comandados por Vanderlei Luxemburgo os brasileiros perderam uma e venceram outra contra os argentinos, e ainda tiveram dois empates contra o Holanda e Espanha.

Em nove de outubro de 1999, o adversário era a Holanda. Pouco mais de um ano antes, as equipes se enfrentaram pela semifinal da Copa do Mundo da França, na partida que ficou conhecida como a final antecipada da competição. Fato que não se consumou na decisão.

De todo modo, eram duas das melhores equipes do mundo na época. O Brasil ainda tinha os astros de 98, como Ronaldo, Rivaldo e Roberto Carlos, e tentava se renovar com as presenças de Roque Júnior, Vampeta, Juninho Pernambucano, Felipe e principalmente Ronaldinho Gaúcho.

Tudo isso para enfrentar uma equipe com craques como Seedorf e Bergkamp, que tinham a companhia dos matadores Kluivert e o jovem Van Nistelrooy, o rápido ponta-esquerda Zenden, além de Ronald de Boer, improvisado na lateral-direita e do ótimo goleiro Van der Sar. Ainda ficaram de fora jogadores como Cocu, Frank de Boer, Davids e Overmars.

Apesar de contar com dois meias com bons chutes – Rivaldo e Felipe – além de dois matadores – Ronaldo e Élber – o Brasil acabou contando com os laterais para marcar. Cafu e Roberto Carlos foram os que balançaram a rede de Van der Sar. Os comandados de Frank Rijkaard chegaram aos seus gols com Zenden e o craque Bergkamp. Dida, em ótima fase, ainda pegou um pênalti.

Na mesma data, em solo brasileiro, mais precisamente na cidade do Rio de Janeiro falecia o poeta e diplomata brasileiro, João Cabral de Melo Neto. Autor de ‘Morte e vida Severina’ entre outras obras, o pernambucano faleceu aos 79 anos e torcia pelo América do Rio.

Replay of 98 antecipated final, drawn all over again

After losing the Copa América to México, the Seleção finished 1999 with some major friendlies. Coached by Valderlei Luxemburgo the brazilians had a win and a loss against rivals Argentina, and two draws against dutch and spaniards.

On octobert 09th 1999 they would face Netherlands again. Over a year before the two powerhouses faced each other in the 1998 World Cup semifinal match, a game known then as an antecipated final. As we know this fact would not be fulfilled at the final game.

Anyway, those were two of the best teams in the world at that time. Brazil could rely on its 1998 stars such as Ronaldo, Rivaldo and Roberto Carlos and tried some fresh faces as Roque Júnior, Vampeta, Juninho Pernambucano and Felipe, but most of all Ronaldinho Gaúcho.

All this power to face a squad with players like Seedorf and Bergkamp, that kept company of the strikers Kluivert and the young Van Nistelrooy, the fast winger Zenden, besides Ronald de Boer improvised on the right back and the great goalie Van der Sar. They left out of that game players such as Cocu, Frank de Boer, Davids and Overmars.

Altougth Brazil could count on their midfielders Rivaldo and Felipe, or on the strikers Ronaldo and Élber to score, the backs Cafu and Roberto Carlos eventually stepped up to put up one a piece. Netherlands scored with Zenden and the great Bergkamp. Dida was in a good moment and stopped a penalty kick.

On a side note, that same day in Rio de Janeiro passed away the great poet João Cabral de Melo Neto, author of “Morte e Vida Severina”, among others. He was 79 and supported América from Rio.

Apalagi pas tau record prestasinya sebagai pengeloksi gelar Scudetto terbanyak, tambah cinta gw sama ini club. Squad Juventus favorit gw, waktu masih ada pemain seperti Zinedine Zidane, Edgar Davids, Angelo Peruzzi, Didier Deschamp, Fillipo Inzaghi, Del Piero (masih ada koq sampe sekarang) dll. Tapi pemain2 yang sekarang juga oke. Juventus bisa membuktikan mereka menjalankan regenerasi yang baik. Dimana klub2 besar lain kebanyakan mengimport pemain asing *cough*inter*cough*

Del Piero ato panggilannya Alex, entah mengapa kepincut sama pemain ini. (Ya iya lha orangnya ganteng aj ). Raja free kick ini  sempet jadi pemain terbaik Italia and beberapa kali pemegang gelar topscorer di liga domestik, and yang bikin Roberto Baggio hengkang dari Juve karena Baggio merasa tersisihkan. Tapi ga ada yang bisa ngusirAlex dari squad Juventus kecuali klo dia yang mau retire sendiri. Dari banyaknya pemain baru and muda yang mengisi quota pemain depan sampai kasus Calciopolli, Alex tetep loyal and setia sama I Bianconneri. Salut juga buat pemain loyal lainnya seperti Gianluigi Buffon, Pavel Nedved, David Trezeguet, and Mauro Cammoranesi. Di usia yang sudah 34 ini moga2 Il Pinturicchio masih bisa memberikan kontribusi buat klub baik di liga domestik and internasional. Bravo Alex!!!

Een aantal verhalen vragen om een vervolg, een follow up. Want nooit heb ik vertelt hoe mijn belevenissen met Edgar Davids zijn afgelopen, nooit heb ik meer gerept over het relletje op het werk en nooit heb ik jullie geïnformeerd over hoe mijn woonsituatie is. Is het geen schande?

Ik vind van niet.

Maar toch. Mijn huis is eigenlijk niet zo picturaal dat het een foto nemen waard is. Misschien dat het ooit nog een keer zover komt als ik slachtoffer van de verveling word, maar tot op heden is dat moment nog niet aangebroken. Nog even geen foto’s van mijn onderkomen.

Het relletje op de werkvloer is afgedaan met een beloofde rectificatie die uiteindelijk nooit in de krant is gekomen. Dat kan in Suriname. En Davids heb ik nooit gezien bij kickboksen. Dat had niet zozeer met hem te maken, maar met mij. De afgelopen weken ben ik niet meer naar de sportschool geweest. Ik was druk met andere dingen.

Zoals wat dan, vragen jullie je nu massaal af. Van alles, is mijn antwoord daarop. Met mijn dagelijkse bezigheden zal ik jullie niet vermoeien. Dat doe ik expres niet omdat ik een beter verhaal om te vertellen heb.

Wat dan, vragen jullie weer. Ik zal het vertellen.

Komt-ie hoor.

Ik wist het niet en toen ik vlak na aankomst in Suriname hoorde dat er dolfijnen zwemmen in de Surinamerivier dacht ik dat ik werd bedot. ‘Aan mijn hoela. Dolfijnen zie je uitsluitend in hemelsblauwe wateren zoals dat van Curaçao. Niet hier in het okerkleurige water.’ Maar ik had het mis. Ik voel me niet te groot om dat toe te geven. Er zijn hier wel degelijk dolfijnen. God zij geprezen.

Want wat een prachtige beesten zijn dat. Het is dat wijlen Duke ervoor heeft gezorgd dat de hond altijd op nummer 1 zal blijven staan op mijn lijstje van lievelingsdieren, maar de dolfijn is een goede tweede. Dat staat bij deze genoteerd.

Afgelopen zaterdag (15 augustus) gingen we met een grote groep vanaf Leonsberg de Surinamerivier op. De meeste mensen zag ik voor het eerst, van de groep van twintig man kende ik er misschien drie. Dit kwam omdat de mensen die meegingen mensen waren van de stage van iemand die ik dan wel weer ken. En de moeder en tante van iemand gingen ook nog mee. Ja, zo zit het. Maar dit is Suriname, dus het maakt allemaal niet. Suriname is gezelligheid.

De kapitein die ons knusse bootje bestuurde had een tactiek om de dolfijnen te lokken waar ik in eerste instantie mijn vraagtekens bij zette. Hindoestaanse muziek zou ervoor moeten zorgen dat de dolfijnen naar ons toe zouden komen. Nou ben ik niet vies van een portie alternativiteit, maar dit ging mij eigenlijk te ver. Ook dit kon aan mijn hoela.

Maar het werkte wel, verdomme nog aan toe. Het is natuurlijk lastig tellen hoeveel unieke dolfijnen je hebt gezien, maar we hadden bekijks genoeg. Het was consternatie alom op de boot.

En allemaal hadden we last van het zelfde euvel. Het fotograferen van deze fraaie beesten is een drama, het leverde talloze foto’s op van niets meer dan stromend water. Ik verwijs jullie door naar onderen voor de beste foto’s die ik heb kunnen schieten.

Maar het was geweldig. Dolfijnen die op een meter afstand van de boot kwamen om even ‘hoi’ te zeggen, dolfijnen die vreugde sprongen maakten, vader en moeder Flipper die gezamenlijk met Flipper Jr. om de boot heen zwommen. Ik vond het indrukwekkend.

Ook dit kunt u, de trouwe lezer, op uw lijstje To-do-in-Paramaribo bijschrijven; de dolfijnen tour. Je gaat genieten, let maar op.

En nog even dit; foto’s. Op iemand haar hyves las ik als synoniem voor het woord foto ‘Het vastleggen van momenten.’ Ik voelde een kleine walging in me opkomen toen ik deze misplaatste taalvervorming zag. Geen idee waar deze frustratie vandaag komt, maar ik walgde ervan. Even maar want ze is beeldschoon, dus mag ze wat.

Hoe dan ook, de dolfijnen tour was fijn. Het fameuze duo en mijn journalistieke partners in crime Jacqueline en Bo hadden dat slim goed geregeld. Het zal sowieso in de top drie eindigen van mijn belevenissen hier in Suriname. Dank.

Ik had het nog niet gemeld, maar ik heb wel met Edgar Davids aan één tafel gezeten. Ik kan je vertellen, ik vond dat best koning. Mijn huisgenoot heeft een vriendinnetje en die kent een vriendin van Davids. We waren met zijn allen even wat drinken en Davids kwam mooi bij ons zitten.

Het begin van de donderdagavond was al goed

Okee. Ik zit hier nu drie week en een paar dagen en het hoogtepunt van mijn verblijf in Paramaribo heb ik al bijna beleefd. Fraai is dat. What happened? Het volgende.

In Paramaribo heb je een club die heet Havana Lounge. Echt een toffe tent, maar voor één uur hoef je er niet te komen; tot die tijd dansen de Surinamers alleen maar salsa en damn, die mensen kunnen dat. In Zusjes de Boer kan je de Hollandse trien nog wel voor de gek houden met quasi soepele Van Binsbergen-pasjes, maar hier is dat onmogelijk. Nederlanders zijn lomp. Het is echt waar.

Tot één uur mijd je dus de dansvloer en doe je niks anders dan met je bakrakop Parbo bier drinken in de hoop dat je heupen op die manier de souplesse van een neger krijgt. Altijd tevergeefs. Maar ondertussen heb je wel de tijd om je bezig te houden met een andere kroegdiscipline en dat is eentje die ik bijzonder goed beheers; het mensen kijken.

En dat deed ik gisteravond dus ook. Ik zag tot mijn grote genoegen dat de vijver weer alsvanouds groot was en ik was dus stilaan mijn voorbereidingen aan het treffen. Alhoewel ik al een jaar of vijf  met regelmaat op stap ga, blijft de vrouw een moeilijk te peilen prooi en daarom besloot ik nog even te wachten met het vergezellen van mijn matti’s op de dansvloer. Mijn Parbo biertje vond het ook nog te vroeg om te dansen.

En verdomme nog aan toe, wat was het een goede keuze om te blijven chillen. Ik beweer hier al tijden dat barhangen en gewoon slap lullen tijdens uitgaan minstens zo leuk is als ingewikkelde danspasjes en ik begin gelijk te krijgen. Dat moeten ze zelfs hier nu toegeven want je raad nooit wie mijn kant op kwam lopen.

Edgar Davids!

Er schoot van alles door mijn hoofd. Het is niet de man van de poster die ik als jongetje boven mijn bed had hangen, dat was Kluivert, maar what the fuck, Davids komt mijn kant opgelopen! Natuurlijk heb ik geen moment het gevoel gehad dat hij doelgericht naar mij toeliep, maar dit was wel mijn kans om de good-old Ajacied nog te bedanken voor het winnen van de Champions League in 1995.

Maar nee, blijkbaar had ik nog niet genoeg Parbo gehad. Ik durfde hem niet aan te spreken.

De rest van de avond heb ik daarom als een malloot door de Havana gestuiterd in de hoop nog een glim van deze held op te vangen. Maar helaas, hij was al weg.

‘Godverdomme nog an toe’, dacht ik en ik besloot me verder onder te dompelen in de drank. Ik was ontroostbaar. Nou ja, bijna dan.

Later, veel later op de avond in de taxi van Havana terug naar huis vertelde ik aan mijn huisgenoten dat ik Edgar Davids in levende lijven had gezien en ik dacht daarmee het verhaal van de avond te hebben. Niet dus.

Ik had hem dan wel gezien, en hem in theorie een panna kunnen geven, zo dicht kwam hij langs me lopen, maar dat was niks in vergelijking met wat mijn  kickboksmaatje had meegemaakt. Dat is tenminste wat zij zei en na afloop van haar verhaal moest ik der gelijk geven.

Het zit zo. Donderdagavond is één van de kickboksavonden waaraan ik meestal meedoe. Alleen, net deze avond niet. Omdat ik een dinertje had, haakte ik af en kwam dus niet op kickboksen. Mijn kickboksmaatje ging wel en jahoor, godverdomme, wie was daar. Edgar Davids! Het schijnt dat hij bevriend is met onze kickbokstrainer.

Wel verdraaid. Ik was in alle staten. ‘Waarom was ik gaan eten en niet naar kickboksen gegaan.’ Ik schreeuwde het uit. Niet dat het etentje niet aangenaam was,  integendeel, maar toch. Pas nadat zij vertelde dat Davids wss vaker gaat meetrainen op donderdagavonden kalmeerde ik weer een beetje. “Wat zei je nou? Davids gaat vaker meetrainen?”

Ja, ik hoorde het goed. Edgar Davids (oud voetballer van Ajax, AC Milan, Juventus, Barcelona, Internazionale, Tottenham, 74 interlands) gaat kickboksen waar ik ook kickboks! Dit schrijf ik op vrijdagmiddag en over een week sta ik dus samen met Davids op de mat! Hooeoeoeo

En wat gaan jullie doen volgende week? Hehe. Ik vind dit zo mooi.

Dit tot zover, want ik heb meer beleefd dan dit alleen. We zijn een weekendje weggeweest naar Republiek. Dat is een recreatieoord ten zuiden van Paramaribo waar alleen de mensen heengaan die het zich kunnen veroorloven. Bijna niemand dus, maar wij bakra’s natuurlijk wel. We waren daar met een groep van ongeveer 25 man, waarvan zo’n 10 Surinamers.

Resultaat: veel lekker Surinaams eten, heerlijk zwemmen in colakleurig water, leuke mensen, veel drank en een knallende koppijn. Tip: als je de kans krijgt, ga Kingzen met Suri’s. Je weet niet wat je meemaakt.

Verder weer een hoop leuke mensen ontmoet waarvan ik de meeste ook al weer heb moeten uitzwaaien omdat dit net een periode is waarin de meeste stagiaires weer richting Nederland vertrekken.

Stage is in orde, gaat goed. Heb mijn eerste rel al meegemaakt, maar dat vertel ik wel een andere keer. En ik beloof jullie plechtig dat in mijn volgende verhaal meer te lezen is over mijn dagelijkse habitat.

2. Ate from Silverworks is really awesome that she didn’t let me suffer from the two stud-shots on my left ear. The piercing process was just a snap, and it, surprisingly, did not hurt.
3. My black Bench backpack is bery beautiful (did you see that?).
4. When I finished shopping, I went straight to David’s. It was closed. So, I then went to Fix. Two of their nearby branches were fullybooked so I am currently doomed with my hair.

12AM – MAY 30

From the inside

I sent a text message to my TL (team lead) last Friday, two hours before my shift, that I can’t come to work because “my stomach feels really bad that I can’t leave the bathroom.” Maybe two minutes after I texted, he called back; his voice was authoritative and formal. He spoke in English.

“Stomachache? LBM? Again?” he said. “That was the exact reason why you were absent three days ago. I think you should see a doctor.”

I could sense the annoyance in his voice (knowing that his bonuses depend on the absenteeism rate of his team, which, unfortunate of him, I am part of). After clearing my throat, I immediately backed up my resolve to absent (since we are going to Nasugbu and I can’t let anything, including work, to hinder me).

“I know that this day is a critical workday, TL,” I paused. “As much as I’ve wanted to take calls later, I can’t. I still have two SLs left, and I want to use one now.” You should have heard how convincing my tone was.

And after that phone call, I hurried to my room and, euphorically, packed my things, because we are leaving for Nasugbu in two hours.

3AM – May 30

There was a slight delay but, who the hell cares, anyway?

There we were, nine excited souls inside Kuya Don’s Starex. The other four was riding their motorcycles. I really enjoyed the road trip, not only that Kuya Don did his driving smoothly, but also because the car was very spacious that I can sit whatever position I fancy.

We took our unplanned stop-over in 7-11 Tagaytay. That was my first time to set foot on Tagaytay and it didn’t fail me. All those fogs and wide road, and friendly people? No room for disappointment. (Good thing my sister copied ALL my songs on her phone. God bless her. I had bluetooth-ed all of them back to my phone with a brand new memory card. Screw you, Lenard.)

The 20-minute “lifejacketless” boat ride was crazy and exciting, also. Imagine, 20 suicidal minutes without a lifejacket after the sea mishap that left 12 people dead? Yes, in Batangas. But all in all, amidst large, angry sea waves and my mom’s terrifying shrieks, we are safe.

There is nothing much to say about Nasugbu, honestly. For someone who have seen Maribago Bluewater, VistaMar, and Plantation Bay, Nasugbu is just a typically so-so beach. The sand is not-so-white-and-fine. I think I’ve said on my previous post that I am missing the beaches there in Cebu. I, seriously, consider to go there before Christmas. With whom, that I am not sure of.

I won’t name the resort but it IS a nice place. The room rate is a little pricey but hell, irony aside, the rooms are fully airconditioned and furnished. I enjoyed the room that I slept 8 straight hours there, and it was amazing.

Of course, I would have probably enjoyed the resort more if I am with my 100% perfect boy. LOL.

In general, the experience was a little different because it was my family I was with, and hey, we were complete.  This experience is just as rare as a combined Sexbomb and Pussycat Dolls concert, or Eraserheads playing for free. Or Panic at the Disco playing one more time in Manila — the type of experience you are most likely to treasure as you grow older.

Alla fine della partita, tra la metà della capitale delusa, ci sarà una caccia all’inglese. Il Liverpool va in vantaggio con un gol fortunoso di Neal: lo scontro tra Whelan e Tancredi in uscita, poi la carambola su Nela finito a terra. Per i Reds comanda Souness, per i giallorossi l’ansia. Quando poi su cross di Conti il bomber Pruzzo pareggia di testa allo scadere del primo tempo, è una liberazione. Nella ripresa occasioni per Dalglish e Nicol, poi i supplementari, quindi i rigori. Fuori Pruzzo per colica e Cerezo per crampi, si consuma il gran rifiuto di Falcao, mai digerito.

In porta per i Reds c’è Bruce Grobbelaar, un africano dello Zimbabwe, ex combattente in Rodhesia, ex giocatore in Canada. Ai limiti del regolamento, Grobbelaar farà di tutto per disorientare i giocatori. Inizia Nicol e sono “bad news”: alto. Ago, il capitano, la piazza alla destra del portiere. Anche Neal spiazza alla sua sinistra Tancredi. Poi è il turno di Conti. Grobbelaar, movenze disordinate da burattino, sotto ai baffi se la ride, parla tra sé, pantaloncini verdi tirati su esageratamente, chiede l’arrivo dell’arbitro, poi si ferma. E Conti manda alle stelle. Souness fradicio di sudore mira sotto all’incrocio sinistro mentre Tancredi vola altrove. Ubaldo Righetti, il marcatore di Rush, copia Souness, e spiazza Grobbelaar.

Il rigore di Rush è l’unico rasoterra debole ma efficace. Poi arriva Ciccio Graziani, ma all’appuntamento trova la “scimmia” di Grobbelaar: barcolla da ubriaco, lingua in fuori, fa finta di cedere sulle ginocchia mentre Graziani, calzerotti tirati giù da ultima spiaggia, si affida al segno della croce. Ma è la testa quella sera che non appartiene ai giallorossi, tiro centrale che tocca la traversa e se ne va mentre Grobbelaar schizza via felice da una porta che comincia a scottare. Tocca al numero 3, Alan Kennedy. Tancredi appena si inginocchia. «È il giustiziere mancino, il suo è l’ unico rigore della serata realizzato alla destra del portiere», racconta Gianni Brera. Passano 12 anni. Arriva il 22 maggio del 1996 e Roma, dopo la parentesi della finale mondiale Argentina-Germania, torna ad ospitare una finalissima: Ajax contro Juventus. La Juventus è una squadra che cerca di vincere senza ombre la Coppa Campioni, che nel frattempo, dal 1992 è diventata Champions League, con formula rivoluzionata: entrano anche le seconde. Ma soprattutto sono passati undici anni dalla vittoria contro il Liverpool dell’Heysel, e la ferita è ancora aperta. Nel frattempo il calcio è cambiato. Le follie dei bagarini di Roma-Liverpool sono un ricordo, ancora più speculazione, anche stavolta i biglietti finiranno in procura: per la Juve ci sono solo 19.783 biglietti, da dare in esclusiva ai club sparsi in Italia, ma molti saranno venduti con pacchetti viaggio onerosi. I club dei tifosi bianconeri arriveranno alla denuncia.

«Loro sono i pittori fiamminghi, noi i tosti piemontesi» dice l’Avvocato. La Juventus della triade Moggi-Giraudo-Bettega è una squadra molto muscolare, che aggredisce il campo, con soli tre stranieri, ma di grande esperienza internazionale: il portoghese Sousa, Jugovic, già vincitore in CL con la Stella Rossa e Deschamps, anche lui vincitore con l’Olympique Marsiglia. Il resto sono gregari alla loro grande occasione: Di Livio, preso a 27 anni dal Padova in serie B, Torricelli, prelevato dalla Carratese nel ‘92 tra i dilettanti e Pessotto. Poi ci sono i futuri senatori Ferrara e Conte, l’eterno Vierchowood, il giovane Del Piero che insieme a l’ex sampdoriano Vialli (in cerca di rivincite internazionali) e Fabrizio Ravanelli forma l’attacco a tre punte. Ma è anche la Juventus di un giovane terzino sinistro, Andrea Fortunato, 23 anni, colpito nel ‘94 dalla leucemia e morto un mese prima della partita. A lui la Juventus dedicherà una partita che rovescerà da sparring partner a protagonista, spiazzando la presunzione del professor Louis van Gaal.

Dopo 12 minuti Frank De Boer sbaglia un disimpegno da scuola calcio, Ravanelli ne approfitta e dalla linea di fondo segna il gol della vita. La partita è a senso unico, la Juventus va più volte al tiro. Il solo Musampa e un guizzo di Litmanen impensieriscono Peruzzi e alla fine del primo tempo nasce il pareggio. Poi i rigori: Davids incerto tira centrale e Peruzzi para. Poi Ferrara tira angolatissimo e forte. Litmanen capocannoniere di CL con 9 reti, spiazza Peruzzi, Pessotto ancora più angolato. Scholten segna. Idem Padovano che però rischia grosso. Ma poi Peruzzi si supera, perché il 33enne Silooy sbaglia. Jugovic no. Finisce ancora una volta 5 a 3.

La Roma, due anni dopo il Liverpool, perse di nuovo in casa una partita fondamentale, lo scudetto contro il Lecce. Dopo Roma, per la Juve arriveranno le brucianti sconfitte con Borussia, Real e Milan. Non solo per l’Ajax, arriverà nel ‘96 il primo calcio mercato dopo la sentenza Bosman. Sono passati altri 13 anni, ora tocca al nuovo calcio di Manchester e Barcellona.

Sì, ok, sono tornato su Facebook, ma non è forse più interessante sapere che ne pensa Felice degli ultimi sviluppi del calciomercato?

Tutta quella tiritera nel primo post, tutto quel blabblare di fagioli e Spuntì, e poi ci sono tornato: e allora? Non siamo mica i tifosi della Juve che dicono di no a Cannavaro e forse di sì a Conte!

Non provo vergogna alcuna nel dire che ci sono tornato solo perché ci sono tutti (anche se poi non è vero che ci sono proprio tutti: io, per esempio, non c’ero; e mica possiamo fare sempre il solito vecchio valzer delle punte della Serie A!) anche se, curiosamente, pure essendoci molta gente – molta gente di cui mi interessa qualcosa, voglio dire – la prima cosa che ho fatto non appena ho riattivato l’account è stata eliminare più del 50% dei miei “amici” – che, detta così, sembra un’azione da vero bastardo, ma in fondo non è altro che quello che fanno anche Vieri o Davids quando fanno le valige e se ne vanno a giocare rispettivamente il campionato brasiliano e quello argentino: eppure giocavano entrambi nella Juventus, una volta…

Non crolla mica il mondo! Erano contatti di persone che non vedevo, che non salutavo, che non conoscevo: non aveva senso tenerli, e mi intasavano anche lo spazio con le loro cazzo di frasette idiote e i video e tutto il resto!

Sono cose con cui non si scherza, i rapporti, e Facebook non è un gioco come il Fantacalcio, nel quale puoi fare quel cazzo che ti pare e magari trovi anche uno come Felice che ti dà le dritte giuste: bisogna andarci coi piedi di piombo, ricordare sempre che sotto qualunque forma essi (i rapporti) si manifestino, si manifestano e non ci son cazzi; e sono loro anche se non li riconosci, e ti sbagli se pensi che il fatto che si ha davanti un computer e non una persona in carne e ossa sia un buon motivo per fare lo stronzo. Ecco perché io elimino le persone che potrebbero farmi diventare stronzo.

Ai rapporti non si sfugge, e Facebook altro non è che un gigantesco rapporto a cui è impossibile sfuggire: se non hai un account, prima o poi qualcuno te ne parlerà (lo sto facendo io ora) (non ringraziarmi), e nel momento in cui te ne avrà (avrò) (ho) parlato, sarai (sei) nel rapporto: ti ha (ho) fregato!

È chiaro, non parlo di rapporti particolari, ma del rapporto in sé. Non si sfugge. Comunque, spero di resistere un po’ prima di disattivare di nuovo l’account o morire di noia.

Pode parecer bom, mas é uma notícia meio temerosa.

Vieri rodou por vários clubes nas últimas 4 temporadas e, na última especificamente, jogou pouco mais de 290 minutos – somados todos os jogos. Já Davids, que defendeu o Ajax na na temporada 2007/08, está sem clube desde então.

Back in the city. Like it a little more than I expected maybe? I basically think I should recap this last week, and I can in one word: AMAZING. I have the best bfff in the world. Duh! I’m pretty sure we spent too much money going out this week. But I didn’t really care, we were having too much fun for it to matter! We went to Applebees x2, Five Guys [delicious], BWW’s [always a good time], Waffle House, and Rita’s! Going home is always so yummy! Went out with A [bff] e-v-e-r-y-n-i-g-h-t. Sometimes boys were involved, like three of the nights, the rest was just us two. We saw Duplicity, and Fast and the Furious 4 big screen. We watched Knocked Up, Final Destination 3, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY ASHLEY, on the little screen very late at night. The earliest night was 12:30a, the latest was 5:00a. Loved it! Got to catch up, goof off and have a little good clean fun. We went laser bowling too, that was with the boys. FUN NIGHT. Survived A driving Z’s big black truck… that has a hemi. [Ha, like we girls care what that means!]

Also went out to lunch with my Mom and Aunt twice, that was nice catching up with the related ladies. Went to church with the family, that is always nice too. Seeing those that I knew since I was just little. Placed the order for our flowers, picked the bridesmaid dress, made all the save-the-dates, picked my top three favorite gowns. Chose the wedding color, it’s clover. Davidsbridal.com. Talked about getting custom jewelry made for the ladies in my party, S is doing it. I’m really excited.

A and C are here spending the week. Classes started, they are hanging at MOA spending all their money. Wish I had money to spend. Boo. Out of work last week since I was home, but that’s okay. Being home was better that being at work. Sitting in Media Design. I think it’s going to be an okay class, and I’m really hoping that I’m going to get some good portfolio work out of this. Group work gag, but who knows, but maybe it won’t be so bad. Guess I’ll have to get used to it.

Went to Famous Daves last night. DELICIOUS. Basically, filling, the end. Best meal ever, beef brisket, amazing. I need to stop talking about food, totally starving right now. Two more classes tonight, then I can call it quits. I like having class only two days a week. I will feel a lot less stressed, which will be amazing. I was/am getting a little burnt out between AT and school, maybe this will give me a little breathing room. Now that K has a full time DAY job he won’t be working so many nights so we’ll have some quality dating time again, that will be super nice. We have a long way to forever and we better not let things get dry and over comfy now.

Bought a Twins hat last night, well K bought me one. We are hopefully going to the game tomorrow night. That will be awesome. It makes me happy because that means that spring and warm weather are coming. It’s 48 degrees right now, back in PA there is snow! Ha, I got out of there just in time.

I have class until “11″ hopefully it really won’t take that long. I’ll cry. I’m supposed to meet A, C and K at NBA tonight to grab some food. Again with the food I know, I’m still starving… another subject please. I suppose though that this post is long enough and maybe it’ll get some views this time around. Who knows, maybe I’m not as interesting as I thought… ha! Wouldn’t really surprise me.
