<title><![CDATA[Tuparí Ethnomusiciology Project/Indigenous Culture Primer]]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p style="clear:both;">South America, refuge of the last uncontacted tribes on the planet, is a land of stunning contrasts. On the southeast coast lie São Paulo (seventh largest city in the world) and Rio de Janeiro, home to Copacabana and Ipanema Beach and sprawling slums known as favelas. Journey west to the Pantanal region of Mato Grosso, where you’ll find the world&#8217;s most diverse assortment of wildlife, and then north to Manaus, gateway to the Amazon and well known for it’s indigenous history, adventure sports, and a spectacular selection of natural fruit juices.</p>
<p style="clear:both;">However idyllic the continent may seem, its beauty belies a dark history of cultural conflict. From the arrival of the Jesuit missionaries and subsequent partition of the continent between the Spanish and Portuguese, to the exploitation of indigenous populations in the mid- to late-20th century (i.e., the Dâw people <a href="http://www.vimeo.com/7479075" target="_blank">http://www.vimeo.com/7479075</a>), cultural imperialism has left an indelible mark on Brazilian society and culture.</p>
<p style="clear:both;">What remains of the millennia of indigenous culture that predates the entrance of “enlightened” culture in South America? Frankly, not much. Even in relatively remote regions of the Amazonian selva, one is almost certain to find Coca-Cola, Yankee baseball caps, Toshiba televisions, and Nike sneakers. Western clothing is standard, and tribal dress is a novelty, generally reserved only for celebrations or other community ceremonies. Yet, it’s in these ceremonies that we may find the last vestiges of “pure” indigenous culture. Often led by the tribes’ oldest members (by necessity), the tribes’ traditional songs and dances provide the best glimpse at the history of these storied people.</p>
<p style="clear:both;">Yet, even these traditions are dying out, not for lack of talented off-spring to pass them onto, but for the simple reason that indigenous culture just isn’t “cool” to the younger members of these tribes. Raised on American pop music, subtitled Jackie Chan movies, and often outlandishly crude and graphic Brazilian TV, the young indigenous are learning that the criteria of cool “cool” include light-skin and plenty of reais. Shows on Brazilian television typically portray the “token indigenous character” as a foolish, uneducated, and laughable type, not to be taken seriously, and in reality not quite on the same level as “the rest of us.” (Much like the role of the dumb dad in many family sitcoms in the US). </p>
<p style="clear:both;">This latest form of cultural imperialism may turn out to be the most effective, and ultimately most dangerous incarnation yet. Whereas before, indigenous culture had to be pried from the hands of the tribe members, now, the young indigenous are practically begging to trade in their unique indigenous identity for a chance to be “normal.&#8221; Often this results in a kind of hybrid lifestyle: Rice and beans cooked over an open flame in rusting pots at night in the village, texting and Orkut.com at the city’s public school during the day. Other times, it results in a complete abandonment of the traditions of their tribe—in the words of Caedmon’s Call, “one more brick in the Tower of Babel.”</p>
<p style="clear:both;"> Last summer as we wrapped shooting a documentary on the Dâw people (see Vimeo link above) we traveled to Chapada dos Guimarães in the state of Mato Grosso to Ammi, a seminary and language school geared toward preparing indigenous Christians to become pastors and missionaries among their own tribes. Here we met <a href="http://www.andrewandaimee.blogspot.com" target="_blank">Andrew and Aimée Janzen</a>, proud Canadians and professors at Ammi, where they&#8217;ve had the chance to encourage many of their students in developing new songs and dances in their tribes&#8217; style.</p>
<p style="clear:both;">But this isn&#8217;t just any ol&#8217; feel-good arts camp. There will be no macaroni, popsicle sticks or Elmer&#8217;s glue. Andrew lectures on Cultural Anthropology and Aimée has quite a bit of experience with ethnomusicology, and they&#8217;re using these skills to address the deterioration of indigenous culture at its roots. </p>
<p style="clear:both;">They believe that the fundamental problem is a lack of self-esteem, a lack of appreciation for one’s own culture that stems from years (really, centuries) of other cultures dominating their own. Naturally, the inability of these indigenous peoples to fend off these attacks leads to a belief that they are in fact inferior, thereby resulting in a desire to abandon an indigenous identity and do anything possible to convincingly assume a “western” identity.</p>
<p style="clear:both;">The way Andrew and Aimée see it, the best way to fix the issue of self-esteem is for members of the heretofore dominant culture to take an active interest in not only preserving the existing songs and dances, but encouraging the creation and development of new art in the traditional style.</p>

Jak informuje firma </strong><a title="link do informacji" href="http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?navid=54&#38;itemid=39871&#38;langid=1" target="_blank"><strong>Digidesign</strong></a><strong> aktualna wersja oprogramowania Pro Tools, czyli 8.0.1, jest ostatnią obsługującą peryferia z serii MIX, czyli 888&#124;24 I/O, 882&#124;20 I/O, 1622 I/O, 24-bitowy ADAT Bridge I/O, a także komputery PowerPC Mac, interfejs Mbox (pierwsze modele, Mbox 2 i wyższe będą pracować z nowym oprogramowaniem) oraz Expansion&#124;HD Chassis.</strong></div>

<p><strong>Czas na zmiany&#8230;</strong></p>
<div>Czas szykować się do zmiany komputera. Najlepiej od razu na taki, który będzie miał 8-rdzeniowy procesor, ponieważ szykowana na przyszły rok aktualizacja Pro Tools będzie oferowała lepsze wykorzystanie jednostek wielordzeniowych do natywnej obsługi DSP.</div>
<div id="_mcePaste">Decydując się na upgrade programu Pro Tools musimy wymienić nie tylko komputer, ale i karty. Przesiadka ze sprzętu PCI na PCIe w przypadku trzech kart (jedna Core i dwie Accel) uszczupli nasze konto bankowe o mniej więcej 9.000 zł. Dodając do tego ok. 10.000 zł na nowy komputer luksus pracy na najnowszym oprogramowaniu Pro Tools będzie nas kosztował 19.000 zł.</div>

<p><strong>Jest jednak nadzieja</strong></p>
<div id="_mcePaste">Można pokusić się o skorzystanie z oferty firmy Magma, która oferuje rozszerzenie PE6R4 (za 2.200 dolarów), wyposażone w sześć slotów PCI i PCI-X (także dostępne w radośnie niskiej cenie karty Farm). PE6R4 można podłączyć do nowego maka przez PCI Express i dzięki temu zaoszczędzimy 9.000 zł mogąc korzystać ze starych kart pod nowym Pro Tools-em. Choć Avid zapowiada wsparcie dla produktu Magma to jednak trzeba się liczyć z tym, że ta &#8220;przelotka&#8221; nie zapewni takiej wydajności jak nowe karty.</div>

<div>Na stronie Digidesign można znaleźć przedpremierowe wersje PT 8.0.3 w odmianach M-Powered, HD i LE (dla systemu Snow Leopard), dostępne za darmo dla zarejestrowanych użytkowników wersji 8.0. W przypadku LE będzie potrzebny kod autoryzacyjny od 8.0, a w przypadku HD i M-Powered kluczyk iLok. Firma M-Audio udostępniła już drivery pod Snow Leopard dla MobilePre USB i Fast Track Ultra 8R. Sterowniki do pozostałych interfejsów znajdują się w fazie beta. O wszystkich problemach związanych ze Snow Leopard i Pro Tools sporo piszą użytkownicy na <a title="forum Digidesig" href="http://duc.digidesign.com/forumdisplay.php?f=53" target="_blank">forum Digidesign</a>. Wersja przedpremierowa Pro Tools 8.0.3 nie do końca obsługuje wtyczki Hybrid, Strike, Structure, Transfuser oraz Velvet, i nie współpracuje stabilnie z peryferiami wideo Avida, więc należy ją traktować raczej jako ciekawostkę, a nie funkcjonalne narzędzie pracy.</div>

<p><strong>Zostajemy przy 32 bitach</strong></p>
<div>Wiadomo już, że PT 8.0.3 nie będzie wspierał nowych technologii Apple, takich jak technologii GrandCentral (lepsze wykorzystanie procesora wielordzeniowego &#8211; Digidesign twierdzi, że ich rozwiązanie wcale nie jest gorsze) i OpenCL (wspomaganie grafiki, które według twórców Pro Tools utrudnia obsługę strumieni audio w środowiskach wymagających niskiej latencji). Pro Tools 8.0.3 pozostaje 32-bitową aplikacją, a przedstawiciele Digidesign oficjalnie nie planują przejścia na 64 bity.</div>

<p><strong>Komentarz</strong><br />
<em>Przeskok z Pro Tools 8.0.1 na 8.0.3 dla tych użytkowników, którzy pracują jeszcze na starszych makach będzie dość bolesny finansowo i stawia pod znakiem zapytania sensowność całej inwestycji. Nawet jeśli zdecydujemy się na nowy komputer to pozostaje jeszcze kwestia wymiany kart. Oferta firmy Magma wygląda atrakcyjnie ale jest to swego rodzaju półśrodek, a nie ostateczne załatwienie sprawy. W lepszej sytuacji są tutaj właściciele stacji roboczych postawionych na komputerach PC, którzy wydadzą mniej na upgrade sprzętu. Dla niektórych nie do końca przekonanych do maków (a są w ogóle tacy&#8230;?) może to być silny impuls zachęcający ich do przejścia na Windows, który to system w wersji 7 wygląda bardzo obiecująco jeśli chodzi o audio, czemu już wkrótce przyjrzymy się znacznie uważniej. Choć OS X w dalszym ciągu powszechnie uważany jest za wzorcowy system operacyjny, to jednak developerzy oprogramowania audio nie zostawiają suchej nitki na magikach z Apple, którzy co rusz coś zmieniają w systemie zmuszając ich do ciągłej aktualizacji swoich produktów. Zamiast więc pisać nowe wtyczki i aplikacje developerzy mnóstwo czasu poświęcają na poprawki w już funkcjonujących softach, by nadążyć za zmianami w kolejnych jabłczanych drapieżnikach.</em> •<br />

<p><span style="font-style:italic;font-weight:bold;">Phoenix and Ashes</span><span style="font-weight:bold;"> by Mercedes Lackey</span><br />

<p>This is the third book in her Elemental Masters series. Which, I can now proudly claim that I have read all of them; out of order and with gaps in between each book, but still.</p>
<p>Anyhoo, I highly recommend any person who enjoys fantasy books to pick up this series (or any other of Mercedes Lackey&#8217;s books). They are extremely entertaining and well written. The kind of book that you can submerge yourself in and almost be in the setting with the characters. If you are like me, you probably have this intense movie going on in your head as you read (and on a later day wonder what the name of that movie was or what actor was in it&#8230;) I mentioned the series, but they can be read as stand alone books since they don&#8217;t have continuing story lines, but some characters do crossover or are mentioned.</p>
<p><span style="font-style:italic;">Phoenix and Ashes</span> is the story of two elemental masters (students really), Eleanor &#38; Reginald, and all the hardship they face to become elemental masters. Set during World War I the two characters start out with hardships as the country is strained by the war: Reginald is a pilot called to fight and Eleanor must work miracles with all the rationing imposed. This story is a re-telling of the classic <span style="font-style:italic;">Cinderella</span> fairytale. It&#8217;s got all the elements: a wicked stepmother, two spoiled stepsisters, a &#8220;fairy&#8221; godmother, a handsome rich &#8220;prince&#8221;, a hardworking, enslaved &#8220;<span style="font-style:italic;">Cinderella</span>&#8221; and a royal ball, complete with a misplaced article of clothing. Over the years, I&#8217;ve read many retelling of fairy tales, but Mrs. Lackey&#8217;s are the best. She takes the underling story plot of the the fairy tale and builds her own story on top to the point where you can almost separate the two and not remember you are reading a retelling. She comes up with new, exciting ways to tell the same story and keep you completely glued to the book. Truly wonderful.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight:bold;">Favorite Part:</span></p>
<p>Eleanor&#8217;s journey through the Tarot as part of her education to become a Fire Master. Mrs. Lackey presented the journey with such detail and symbolism that I found myself picturing the Major Arcana as Eleanor walked among them. I only wish she would have had enough space (or time) to go through all the cards with the reader. But that&#8217;s just my personal interest in the Tarot shining through.</p>

<p>พราว (Proud) ได้รับมอบหมายให้ทำงานปฎิบัติมากกว่างานอ่าน และนั่นคือนิสัยของพราว    ชีวิตช่วงที่เด่น ๆ ของพราวคือช่วงมัธยมปลายและปริญญาตรีตอนต้น   เพื่อนของพราวคือ Daw พวกเขาเรียกงานที่ทำร่วมกันทั้งหมดว่า &#8220;ProuDaw&#8221; ซึ่งมีหลายงานด้วยกัน</p>
<p>Proud ถูกเลือกให้ได้รับตำแหน่ง &#8220;หลอน&#8221; ฝ่ายหญิง (ฝ่ายชายคือ ขุนพล) และ &#8220;Error&#8221; ฝ่ายหญิง (ฝ่าชายคือ พิชญ์แคว) ทั้งหมดถูกจัดทำขึ้นในปีสุดท้ายของมัธยมปลาย   พราว ไม่ได้ไปรับรางวัลแรกด้วยตัวเอง คนที่รับแทนในวันงานคือ ดาว เพื่อนของเธอ    ส่วน Error หญิง ฟังแล้วไม่ค่อยน่าภาคภูมิใจนัก แต่เพื่อน ๆ บอกว่า มันหมายถึงพวกใช้เวลากับ Computer มากกว่าคนอื่น และ พราว กับ พิชญ์แคว เหมือนกันในจุดนี้</p>
<p>พราวถ่ายภาพยนต์สั้นเรื่อง The Spooky Kids Live in MWIT โดยแสดงคู่กับ ดาว ทั้งสองช่วยกันเป็นตากล้อง พราวเป็นคนตัดต่อ และทำ Animation ทั้งหมดของเรื่องนี้    งานเรื่องนี้ไปได้สวยมาก เพราะพวกเขาสามารถเปลี่ยนมุมมองที่ผู้ชายมองผู้สาวได้ คือพวกเขาบ้าพอที่จะสนุกมากกว่าความสวยงาม</p>

<p>พราว ได้ชื่อว่าออกไปดูงานนอกสถานที่มากที่สุดในโรงเรียน และเธอเป็นที่รู้จักของอาจารย์หลาย ๆ คน  เมื่อบางคนพูดถึง ดาว เขาก็ต่อท้ายด้วย ดาวเป็นเพื่อนของพราว   ดาวดูเหมือนมีปัญหาเกี่ยวกับสมองในช่วงนั้น และเธอเคยหยุดเรียนเพื่อรักษามัน    เธอยังมีปัญหาเกี่ยวกับขา ซึ่งเธอผ่าตัดไปแล้ว   เธอประสพน์อุบัติเหตุจากการวิ่งไล่จับแมว ซึ่งเป็นสัตว์โปรดของ บาส เพื่อนสนิทในห้องเรียนของเธอ</p>
<p>พราว ยังเป็นที่รู้จักอีกด้านคือเธอชอบเพลงลูกทุ่ง และเพลง Rock   เธอเคยชอบวง L&#8217;Arc~en~Ciel จาก นาฏลี, เมอน่า และ เมย์ เมื่อเธอย้ายโรงเรียนไปอยู่มัธยมปลาย คนส่วนใหญ่ไม่รู้จักวงนี้    พวกเขาหลายคนเรียน พราว ว่า &#8220;ฮิเดะ&#8221; จนกระทั้ง พราว ต้องศึกษาเกี่ยวกับคนคนนี้อย่างจริงจัง และเธอก็ชอบมัน    วงของมันหลอกหลอนเธออยู่ในช่วงปีแรก และนั่นเป็นปีที่เลวร้ายที่สุด    พราว ฟังเพลง Rock ที่มีความรุนแรงมากขึ้นเรื่อน ๆ ในช่วงนั้น และเพื่อนร่วมห้องของเธอ สุ หรือ ฮิตเบล้อ เปรียบเทียบ พราว กับ เพื่อนเก่าของเขาว่า พราวไม่มีทางเถื่อนได้เหมือนเพื่อนคนนั้นหรอก</p>
<p>ปีต่อมา โรงเรียนย้ายห้องทั้งหมด พราวมีชีวิตที่ดีขึ้นกับเพื่อนร่วมชั้นเรียนกลุ่มใหม่ เพราะพวกเขาค่อนข้าง &#8220;เพี้ยน&#8221; มากกว่าเพื่อนกลุ่มเก่าที่ดูจะ tradition and formal   ห้องเรียนใหม่ มีความทะเยอทะยานที่จะโด่งดัง และเจ๋งที่สุดในระดับชั้น พวกผู้ชายส่วนใหญ่มาจากกลุ่ม &#8220;มีพลัง&#8221; ซึ่งขยายใหญ่ขึ้นเรื่อย ๆ หัวหน้าห้องห้องนี้คือ นายต้น เป็นแฟนกับ แอร์ ในปีสุดท้าย ต้น ยังถูกรู้จักจากคนนอกกลุ่มว่าเป็นหัวหน้า &#8220;กลุ่มมีพลัง&#8221; ทั้งห้องได้ไปเที่ยวเกาะสะเม็ด ก่อนที่ห้องเรียนอื่น ๆ จะไปกัน และห้แงเรียนนี้ จึงเป็นห้องเดียวที่ไม่ถูกทำโทษ</p>
<p>ครั้งแรกเมื่อพวกเขารู้จักกัน หลายคนไม่ชอบ พิชญ์แคว เพราะหลายคนบอกว่า เขาเห็นแก่ตัว  แต่ในปีสุดท้าย ห้องเรียนนี้ได้ประกาศให้ทั้งโรงเรียนรู้ว่า เขาจะเชียร์เพื่อนร่วมห้อง และรักเพื่อนร่วมห้องของพวกเขาทุกคน</p>

<p>พราว ซื้อเบสราคาแพงจากหลังกระทรวงกลาโหม และเธอไม่ชอบเมื่อคนอื่นพูดถึงมัน   เธอเรียนมันอย่างรวดเร็ว และเธอสามารถสอบเข้าคณะดุริยางคศาสตร์ได้ แต่เธอสละสิทธิ์ในภายหลังเมื่อเธอตัดสินใจเปลี่ยนอนาคต</p>
<p>ทำไมถึงเป็น Proud Paradox?<br />
Proud เป็นชื่อใน Visa และเป็นการเขียนภาษาอังกฤษของชื่อเธอมาตั้งแต่เธอเกิด แม่ของเธอเป็นคนตั้งให้<br />
Paradox เป็นวงดนตรี ของประเทศไทย วงโปรดของทุกคนในห้องเรียนโปรดของเธอ และเพื่อน ๆ อิจฉาเธอมากเมื่อ เธอ ไปดูการแสดงของ Paradox จนเข้าเรียนวิชาชีววิทยาสายในเช้าวันต่อมา<br />
เมื่อเธอมี e-mail เป็น ProudParadox และเธอติดต่อกับอาจารย์ของเธอ เขาบอกว่าเธอเป็นกวีที่เล่นคำได้สวยมาก</p>
<p>ในสมัยมัธยมปลาย พราว ยังสมัครร้องเพลงภาษาอังกฤษถึงสองครั้ง และเพื่อนของเธอหัวเราะเธอ เพราะมันแย่มาก พราวร้องเพลงของ X Japan แต่ข้าพเจ้าจำไม่ได้ว่ามันเป็นเพลงอะไร   เธอถูกมอบหมายให้ทำประวัติวง X Japan เพื่อนแสดงในบอร์ดโรงเรียน และนั่นคือบอร์ดที่ไม่ใช่งานศิลปะ    รุ่นพี่คนหนึ่ง ตัวใหญ่ และชื่อ ใหญ่ เป็นนักเปียโน เขาชอบ X Japan และเขาก็ไม่สนใจมันแล้วในเวลาต่อมา    ปัจจุบัน ใหญ่ ได้สนใจการถ่ายภาพแนวศิลป์มาก   และพราวอาจจะกลับไปเป็นเหมือนสมัยมัธยมต้น  ที่เธอไม่ชอบอาจารย์สอนสังคมศึกษาในมัธยม 3 เอามาก ๆ เพราะอยู่คนละขั้วทางการเมือง</p>

<p>พราว ยังเป็นมือเขียนภาพที่ทุกคนปฎิเสธไม่ได้    งาน Power Point ของเธอได้รับการยกย่องว่าสวยและน่าสนใจที่สุด ทำให้เธอไม่ชอบอ่านหนังสือ    ตอง และ ดาว เพื่อนสนิทของเธอ เชื่อว่าเธอฉลาดมาก เพียงแต่ไม่ตั้งใจเรียน และชอบหลับในห้อง และยังไม่ชอบทำการบ้าน    พราวเคยบอกตองว่า เธอชอบสัปดาห์สอบที่สุด เพราะมันไม่มีการบ้าน</p>
<p>เธอมีความสนใจเรื่อง Animation มาก สังเกตุได้จากความฝันในวัยเด็ก นาฏลีพูดกับพราวในขณะที่ดูการแสดงเพลงของโรงเรียน และเธอบอกว่า เธออยากทำ Tetsu L&#8217;Arc~en~Ciel เต้นจนจบเพลง Stay Away และสิ่งนั้นไม่มีแล้ว</p>
<p>เมื่อใคร ๆ อยากถามเรื่องเพลง Rock เขาวิ่งมาหาเธอ และเขาทำเช่นเดียวกันเมื่อต้องการเพลงลูกทุ่ง    เธอเคยทำการ Presentation ที่เป็นสิ่งที่น่าอับอาย เพราะเธอนำวงที่เธอชอบมาเรียงบนสไลด์ แล้วถามคนในห้องว่ามันคืออะไร</p>

<p>The piano was released from NI the other day. The sound is from my hardware to a bad quality in the sound however in the 90&#8217;s.</p>
<p>Field Sound was released from NI the other day. However, I was a quality in the sound that was worse than the library that was recorded with My iPhone and edited.</p>

もうA型の人間が使う宅スタではなくなってきてます。MPCでのビートメイキングはほぼ終わっているんですが、ちょっとした手直しや追加制作する時なんかの時はセットすらしないで床に置いて叩いてます(笑)<br />
たまに発狂しそうになりますが、これでも大分慣れてきました…これでアップライトが一台あれば完璧なのだけど。さすがにマンションでは無理そうですね…。</p>
<p>プロセス自体はまだまだな所です。コラボレーションするとはいえ、有りもんっちゃ有りもんというレベルではダメだし、かといって自分色ばかり出してしまっても出来上がりが予想出来ちゃいそうで。<br />
まだしばらく、このゴチャゴチャ環境で頑張ります。</p>

<p>Ora volevo segnalarvi qualche plugin interessante, che sfutta le qualità relative a questo nuovo standard. Questi sono utili in fase di mastering (compressori) e in fase di mixing (il riverbero è molto carino).</p>
<p>Il primo è un bundle che contiene riverberi, compressori, phaser, &#8230; Si chiama INVADA. Potete scaricarlo da <a href="http://www.invadarecords.com/Downloads.php?ID=00000264">qui</a>.</p>

<p>The above diagram shows the signal flow in a basic digital recording studio setup. In our case, we use a Software DAW to perform the functions of a Multi Track Recorder and a Mixer (The boxes in Red). Analog to Digital Conversion, and Digital to Analog Conversion is done with the help of a Sound Interface/ Sound Card (The boxes in Blue). So, basically, the sound is captured using, say, a mic. It then goes to the Sound Interface where the Analog signal is converted to Digital so that our Software DAW can understand it! The performance can be recorded using the DAW on the computer Hard Drive &#8211; the signal flows to the Mixer within the DAW as well where it can be processed with effects etc. and finally goes back to the Sound Interface for Digital to Analog Conversion. This Analog signal is then sent to the Studio Monitors from which sound is generated. You should also note that when the performance is played back, the recorded digital audio flows to the mixer and on.</p>
<p>This post will probably come across as something very obvious to you, but it&#8217;s very very important to keep these basics in mind! You&#8217;d be surprised at the number of times people get confused at these &#8211; It&#8217;s just a matter of understanding and reinforcing the basic concepts!</p>

<p>So we went back to Japan and this time it was to demo to over 870 people! It was a fantastic day in the heart of Akihabara. Roland Japan did a great job in putting the event on.The event kicked with a video from  Alex discussing the new features of SONAR 8.5. Greg then gave a great speech on  new technologies like Windows7 and of course SONAR. Then it was on to our demo.  Brandon ran an  i7 machine running Windows 7 (64-bit) and a VS-700 and I was running a quadcore  vista (32-bit) with a VS-100. The demos went off without a hitch. The final part  of our demo was a performance with Brandon playing leads with Rapture on his rig  while I triggered the Matrix on mine.</p>

<p>Following our demo various Roland Japan  staff  and guest demonstrators gave demos covering various parts of SONAR and the V-Studio 700 and 100. They did an  excellent job and both Brandon and I learned some demo tips and tricks.</p>

<p>There were three demo areas, the  street entrance running VS-100 and SONAR VS, a mid hall stage for VS-700 and the  main stage at the end of the hall.</p>

Già <a href="http://axeldamage.wordpress.com/2009/02/05/lv2-il-futuro/">tempo fa</a> avevo espresso un parere su un giovane standard, che piano piano, ora sta emergendo. Ma diamo uno sguardo globale alla situazione</p>

<ul>
<li><strong>LADSPA</strong>: Standard affermato,<em>&#8220;vecchio&#8221;</em> e molto diffuso, ma ha delle grosse limitazioni (assenza di GUI, poco estendibile&#8230;)</li>
<li><strong>DSSI</strong>: Prometteva bene nel campo dei software synthesizers, ma al giorno d&#8217;oggi, sembra morto.</li>
<li><strong>LV2</strong>: uno standard giovane, nato per colmare le lacune di LADSPA (Ladspa Version 2), e sembra riuscirci.</li>
</ul>
<p>Qualche dettaglio in più sullo standard LV2</p>
<p>LV2, offre uno standard ben studiato. Architettura modulare ed estendibile, e specifiche ben ordinate. Offre la possibilità di creare delle <strong>GUI</strong> (Graphical User Interface) tramite dei costrutti interni (se si necessita di GUI semplici), oppure con qualsiasi altro toolkit, per poter dare maggiore flessibilità ai programmatori in caso si necessiti qualche particolare feature.</p>
<p>LV2 prevede una catalogazione dei plugin in diverse tipologie per facilitare la ricerca all&#8217;utente finale. Oltre alla catalogazione per tipo, vi è anche una separazione tra quelli che sono i plugin di elaborazione del suono, e quelli di generazione del suono (es. synth). Proprio come avviene nel caso dello standard <strong>VST/VSTi</strong>, in cui si ha una separazione netta, tra plugin di elaborazione e i cosidetti <em>VST Instruments</em>.</p>
<p>Bene&#8230; ulteriore ordine.</p>
<p>Tuttavia, l&#8217;enorme diffusione di LADSPA, frena l&#8217;ascesa di questo standard, anche se oggi, si può contare un certo numero di plugin molto interessati e votati ad un ambito professionale (un paio di esempi: <a href="http://www.invadarecords.com/Downloads.php?ID=00000264">INVADA</a>, <a href="http://nedko.arnaudov.name/soft/lv2fil/trac/">lv2fil</a> dei quali parlerò meglio in un altro post).</p>
<p>Per usare questi plugin, oggi ci sono solo un paio di alternative valide</p>
<ul>
<li><a href="http://ardour.org/"><strong>Ardour</strong></a>, da ricompilare con il supporto a LV2 (-SLV2)</li>
<li><a href="http://home.gna.org/zynjacku/"><strong>zynjacku/lv2rack</strong></a>, host per Jack di plugin LV2</li>
</ul>
<p>Sulla compilazione di Ardour con il supporto LV2, non mi voglio inoltrare troppo ora. Ci sono comunque delle guide in rete. Ma vediamo cosa ci offre zynjacku/lv2rack.</p>
<p>In realtà non è un solo software ma sono 2. Zynjacku è un host per LV2 instruments, quindi caricherà solo synth e <em>generatori</em>. lv2rack invece è l&#8217;host per caricare i plugin di elaborazione (es. riverberi, compressori, flanger, &#8230;). Così come il più famoso jack-rack, offrono una semplice interfaccia per inserire in un rack virtuale i vari plugin LV2.</p>
<p>Anche questo è da compilare. Scaricate i sorgenti tramite <strong>git</strong> digitando da terminale il comando</p>

<p>Orasiete pronti per la compilazione&#8230; con la mia karmik non ho dovuto installare dipendenze, anche perché ne avevo già un po&#8217; installate, quindi non saprei dirvi cosa dovete scaricarvi per compilarlo <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />  (beh&#8230; una cosa che potete fare per cominciare è installare almeno le build-essentials <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' />  )</p>
<p>Ora non vi resta che avviare Jackd e avviare a vostra scelta zynjacku o lv2rack.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Gerade für Beginner die am Computer Musik produzieren wollen steht wohl erst einmal die finanzielle Perspektive ganz oben auf der Liste und so geht eigentlich kaum ein Weg an Mixcraft 4 von Acoustica vorbei, denn hier bekommt man sehr viel Leistung bei sehr geringem finanziellen Aufwand!<br />
Das Audio / Midi Sequenzer Programm alá Apples Garageband der Firma Mixcraft kommt wirklich sehr komplett und es ist sichtbar, (und natürlich hörbar <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' />   ), wieviel Mühe sich die Firma Acoustica damit gegeben hat, mit Mixcraft ist es nicht nur erstaunlich einfach selbst Musik zu produzieren sondern es gibt auch immer wieder neue Überraschungen über die Funktionsvielfalt die diese DAW bietet.<br />
Zudem wird eine riesige Loop Bibliothek und zahlreiche gut klingende VST Instrumente und Effekte mitgeliefert.<br />

Ich habe selbst Mixcraft ganz am Anfang als das Programm noch nagelneu war beim deutschen Vertrieb Klemm Music bestellt und arbeite seit dem mit dieser <a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Audio_Workstation" target="_blank">DAW</a> auf meinem Laptop.</p>
<p>Ganz besonders gut gefallen haben mir die bei Mixcraft schon enthaltenen Instrumente hier ist vom Klavier oder Flügelsound bis zu klassischen Orchester Klängen und abgefahrenenen Synthesizer Tönen wirklich alles enthalten.<br />
Das ganze ist auch noch GM also <a href="http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_MIDI" target="_blank">General Midi</a> kompatibel, die Sounds sind wirklich hörenswert und sorgen hier und da für ein echtes Aha Erlebnis, weiterhin hindert Euch nichts daran auch VST Instrumente oder Effekte mit einzubinden.<br />
Mixcraft einfach als einen Apple Garage Band Klone für den PC zu nennen, wird diesem Audio / Midi Sequenzer Programm absolut nicht gerecht.</p>
<p>Wer mit Loops arbeiten will der kann mit Mixcraft sehr gut und flexibel zu schnellen vorzeigbaren Ergebnissen kommen, Audio Aufnahmen sind auch kein Problem und die Aufnahmen via Midi oder USB Masterkeyboard geraten auch schnell, und dank der Möglichkeit auch externe VST Plugins einzubinden, professionell.<br />
An Effekten liefert Acoustica Mixcraft vom Delay, Chorus, Flanger bis zum Reverb alles mit, ich habe mit Mixcraft sogar schon einen Podcast geschnitten, das funktioniert prächtig oder mal eben einen Song erstellen, no Problem die mitgelieferten Loops bringen uns schnell auf ganz neue Ideen.</p>
<p>Die in Mixcraft enthaltenen Loops können in der Tonart und Geschwindigkeit an das Projekt Tempo angepasst werden, eine Bearbeitungsfunktion der Loops wie in einem Wave Editor ist ebenfalls möglich.</p>
<p>Eine ganz interessante Sache bietet uns Mixcraft bei dem Spiel von enthaltenen Mixcraft Instrumenten oder bei den extern einzubindenden VST Instrumenten, diese können mit anderen VST Instrumenten kombiniert werden und dann entweder über Splitpunkte der Tastatur oder über Velocity (Anschlagsdynamik) Werte unterschiedlich angesprochen werden, das ganze kann dann noch mit zahlreichen VST Effekten verfeinert werden und ist dann als einzelnes Preset in Mixcraft speicherbar.</p>

<p>Yes Work. I went to work. Pharmacy Technician.</p>
<p><em>Pharmacy Technician defined as someone that does everything a pharmacist does but get paid 6x less</em></p>
<p>It started off with a cup of DD coffee, totally ruined by a damn newbie. I asked for a Medium Light n Sweet using Half n Half with Hazelnut. Tell me&#8230; How the hell, Why the hell, Would you, add the sugar LAST. That&#8217;s fucking dumb and it ruins the coffee. On top of that I couldn&#8217;t even taste the hazelnut. Don&#8217;t you even know COFFEE terms?!!?</p>
<p>Ok I&#8217;ll go easy&#8230;being that I actually worked at a Dunkin Donut&#8217;s ages ago. I also never knew the coffee terms. But it sure does feel good to gloat and bitch about newbies =) (It&#8217;s a cycle)</p>
<p>Anyway at work, this odd couple came in. Old (50s/60s), Lightly Wrinkly, the guy kept dropping his umbrella in front of the condoms while looking at Lubricants. The black guy, was actually kinda sweet to his white gigantic boobie (plastic?) lady lover. They talked casually about lubricant flavors (apple and strawberry), sexual positions, all right in front of me&#8230;.</p>

<p>There was a patient who came in hoping the pharmacist would break the NY State Law for her. LOL&#8230;. If the doctor wrote a drug name and he never wrote in the &#8220;DAW BOX&#8221; that means, we can dispense the generic even if its the brand name. So she goes off yelling why we didn&#8217;t fill the Brand name. Well bitch&#8230;. your doctor never wrote anything in the &#8220;DAW Box&#8221;. This argument began via phone for over 30 minutes which case she hung up, came to our store, bitched, and the manager came down and turned red demon on her. I mean seriously your just a regular Customer! You are ignorant! We know our Shit! Seriously everyone living in a modernize country ought to get basic science education otherwise your just a dumbfuck.</p>
<p>As I left work, a customer came in with 8x$50 gift cards, to buy a $400 gift card. Dude like What the fuck are you thinking? Buying a gift card with multiple gift cards!?!!? Sure it would have made sense if you actually showed a STATE ID to prove who you are. Even more disturbing he asked his friend to come in to pull the same con. Just what the fuck.</p>
<p>Oh and to top it off, my manager was able to actually put in my sick-pay. But I&#8217;ll have to wait until my next paycheck just to be sure =/</p>

<p>Ako uzmemo u obzir ozbiljnije sekvencere:</p>

<li>Pro Tools</li>
<li>Cubase</li>
<li>Nuendo</li>
<li>Studio One</li>
<li>Sonar</li>
<li>Ableton Live</li>
<li>Magix Samplitude</li>
</ul>
<p>U principu svi oni zvuče isto, i kvaka je samo do Vaše zvučne kartice. Sve ostalo je placebo efekat <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /><br />
Mnogi kažu, ali pro tools zvuči baš pro ! Pa jeste ali Pro Tools koristi specifični hardware (zvučne kartice) te ga nemožete pokrenuti na običnoj zvučnoj kartici &#8211; u tome je kvaka. Oni su se dobro osigurali. Za pokretanje jednog PT LE potrebna Vam je DIGI002 ili 003 kartica koja košta od 500 &#8211; 1200 EUR, pa sad skontajte zašto zvuči tako PROOOOOO !!!</p>
<p>Specifični (bundled) programi kao što su:</p>
<ul>
<li>FL Studio</li>
<li>Reason</li>
<li>Magix Music Maker</li>
</ul>
<p>imaju za nijansu drugačiji zvuk (specifičan) zato što su osmišljeni da sve dobijate u paketu i da ne mislite previše o njegovom finalnom produktu &#8211; songu koji napravite, tako da već kod izlaza po defaultu koriste kompresore, limitere i slično te stoga zvuče drugačije. Po meni su ovo dummy programi, znači drag&#8217;n'drop &#38; play&#8230;</p>
<p><strong>Savjet:</strong> ne prihvatajte sve zdravo za gotovo po razno raznim forumima, jer mnogi ljudi kažu da ako hoćeš da praviš dobru muziku treba da koristiš programe kao što su E-Jay ili Magix Music Maker i slično&#8230;</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Svi već to znamo da je zvučna kartica uređaj koji se koristi da bi se talasni signal iz računara prenjeo do naših zvučnika.<br />
Stoga neću pričati o samoj filozofiji jer za to treba jako dosta vremena. Ovdje bih fokus bacio na samu razliku.</p>
<p>Mnogi od Vas se bave zvukom bolje ili lošije, duže ili kraće, ali mnogi od Vas vjerovatno nikada nisu ni čuli za DSP kartice.</p>
<p>U tu svrhu i imamo ovaj blog, zar ne ? <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>Naime, imamo dva tipa zvučnih kartica</p>
<ul>
<li><em>Obične kartice</em> (da ih tako nazovem)</li>
<li><em><strong>DSP</strong> kartice</em></li>
</ul>
<p>Obje vrste kartica obnašaju apsolutno istu ulogu u samom sistemu samo rade na različitim principima. Obje vrste kartica pružaju mogućnos više kanalnih ulaza i izlaza itd&#8230;</p>
<p><strong>U čemu je onda kvaka ?</strong></p>
<p>Obične kartice srećemo svaki dan, čak su  od prije par godina sastavni dio matičnih ploča. Pored integrisanih kartica koje su i najlošija varijanta, bar za dužnosti koje nama treba, imamo i PCI, PCIx, USB, Firewire kartice koje variraju od lošijih do dobrih itd&#8230; ali opet spadaju u koš pod nazivom &#8220;obične kartice&#8221;</p>
<p><strong>Zašto ?</strong></p>
<p><strong>DSP</strong> kartice (<strong>D</strong>igital <strong>S</strong>ound <strong>P</strong>rocessor) na sebi imaju ugrađene zvučne procesore i pri obradi zvuka se koristi upravo ta njihova snaga, dok obične kartice koriste CPU snagu u tu svrhu, pa koliko je jak CPU toliko će i obrada biti jednostavna.<br />
Stoga mnogi na svojim računarima imaju problem sa krckanjem na izlaznom signalu i slično jer im je procesor preslab i ne može da odradi sve zadatke (procesiranja) koja smo naložili nad određenih zvukom ili grupi istih.</p>
<p>DSP kartice se također u većini slučajeva isporučuju sa pripadajućim pluginima &#8211; plugini namjenjeni isključivo za rad sa tim karticama.</p>
<p>Eh, sada još jedna jako važna stvar. Svi će sada poletiti i reći &#8211; eh, super idem nabaviti onda DSP karticu. I tu postoji kvaka&#8230; <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /><br />
DSP kartice su jedno 10 puta skuplje od običnih&#8230;.</p>
<p>Ako uzmemo npr. neke standardne cijene, to izgleda ovako:</p>
<ul>
<li>(za obične) M-Audio Audiophile / EMU / RME / Creative / itd.. &#8211; se kreću od nekih 170 KM pa negdje do 800 KM</li>
<li>(za dsp) Focusrite / Fairlight / Sonic Core / UAD / Digi / TC / itd&#8230; &#8211; se kreću od nekih 900 &#8211; 15000 KM <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />  u principu nema je ispod hiljadarke !</li>
</ul>
<p>Zato možda i niste čuli za njih <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />  Evo recimo kod Artista nekih<a href="http://www.audiopro-croatia.com/mex/kategorija_sa_artiklima.php?glavna_kat=17&#38;kat=113&#38;pod_kat=154" target="_blank"> cijena DPS karitca</a>.</p>
<p>U principu sve se vrti oko kanala i oko broja procesora, tako da je otprilike 2 x 2 (in/out) dps kartica start nekih 900 KM, kako se penje broj kanala ili broj procesora tako je i skuplja &#8211; logično zar ne, kao i kod običnih.</p>
<p>Stoga, u kućnoj verziji, hobi, polu-profi radu, kombinacija dobrog računara i bolje obične kartice će da zadovolji sve potrebe, ali ne očekujte previše !</p>
<p>Profi rad, imate studio (planirate da imate) itd&#8230; DSP je <strong>obavezan</strong> izbor.</p>
<p>Mislim da je neka srednja optimalna kombinacija &#8211; dobar računar i neka UAD-2 kartica (kao ova dole UAD2-Quad) i bit ćete sasvim zadovoljni <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>

<p>Glad I tried this first, I was almost fooled in buying a new Mac Pro. My G5 Quad is still a very capable machine, so I hope it will run at least another year.</p>
