MOVIE TRAILER :

Since I mentioned Without A Paddle and canoeing trips in a previous post
I now just have to tell the stories that had to do with them.

(May 2003)
The first canoeing trip was when I was in 6th grade.
We always had school trips in the end of May
and this was the first one where we were going to spend the night,
so they had all kinds of activities prepared for us.
One of them being canoeing.
Unfortunately we were uneven number of kids,
so I had to share canoe with our teacher, who I hated.

Ever since I was a kid I’ve been a bit scared of lakes and oceans
because the risk of drowning since they’re nothing like swimming pools,
where you can choose to be at the low or deep end.
My teacher had no respect for the fact that I was a bit scared.
She kept leaning, making the canoe almost tip over and getting water init.
Plus, she kept complaining that I was paddling on the wrong side.
I was in the front of the canoe and she kept switching side all the time,
did she expect me to look behind me to see which side she paddle on?!
The only thing that kept me happy, was the thought of that when school
ended in June I never had to have classes with her EVER AGAIN!

(August 2004)
The next trip was in 8th grade and it was a traditional trip
everyone had to do in the beginning of 8th grade.
We travelled to a town called Bengtfors and jumped into canoes there.
The teachers told us we were going to be canoeing for a couple of hours.
To me “a couple” means two or three, but here it meant EIGHT HOURS!
Plus it was rain and thunder during the whole trip.

We started canoeing at 10am and had garbage bags with our bags in them with us.
We were going to make a lunch stop at an island.
It toke five goddamn hours to get to that “island”,
which was just a piece of land with a forest onit.
After lunch we went back to the canoes
and me and my friend Linda switched places
’cause one of my teachers told us she was better at steering
and I was better at paddling. I guess that’s something I can put on my resume.
We were a long way behind the rest of the class
’cause we sucked at paddling and just hated being there,
but luckily the sun came out and shed some light on us.

After about 1-1,5 hours we reached the next island
where we were going to carry our canoes to another river.

Carrying the canoe - sucked!
Being stared at by kids from other cities camping on that island - sucked!
Having to paddle again - sucked!
It starting to rain again - sucked!

Then after about 1hour of paddling,
we were just about 10-15 football fields away from our camping place.
We had to paddle around a corner and the water decided to stream against us,
and we barely had any energy to paddle after the previous couple of hours,
so me and Linda could barely make it anywhere.
On top of that our teacher pushed our canoe further away,
so he could get through and said; “You guys have to paddle harder”. Douchebag!
Then everyone paddle to the camping place
while we and our friend + substitute teacher were stuck.
But our friend and the teacher managed to paddle to the other side of the river
and got stuck there ’cause they were too tired.
While me and Linda got our canoe backwards and couldn’t turn it back
so we had to to paddle like that and managed to stop at the land nearby.

We ended up just sitting there until anyone began to miss us.
After about 30mins a family in a boat came by and asked us if we were stuck,
so they said that they could come back and help us later.
But luckily we saw two of our teachers come to rescue our friend.
So we just had to wait until they’ve taken them to the camping
and then come back and get us.
But the Hell doesn’t end there!

 When we got to the camping Linda lost her shoe on the beach,
’cause we had to walk a few feet in the water while carrying the canoe
and the wet sand decided to eat her shoe.
Luckily she found it.
Then we got to know that we were going to spend the night in military tents
that had fireplaces in the center and then plastic covers on the ground around them.

We all decided to hangout in the camping building next to the tents
and play some cards and talk before heading to bed.
Later we had to light the fireplace in the tents,
me and my friends tent was the last one to get our fire going.
That’s because our tent lit on fire!
We had to use lighting fluid (I think that’s the correct english word)
but it refuse to work, so we went and got our chemistry teacher to help us.
He manage to get a fire going and said;
“I’m just gonna pour one more time so it will last”.
Then POOF! and we got a big flame in our tent.
One sleeping bag was on fire, the fluid bottle, someone’s pants
and then my friend Linda’s hair.
Luckily, her hair was so wet that she only lost some small pieces
and some of her eyebrows,
but she got some burn marks on her hands after putting the fire out.

Linda had to spend the night in the teachers tent
so they could help her with the burn marks.
Me and the rest of our friends had to go to another empty tent
which didn’t smelled like burned shit.
Me and one of our friends decided to go to sleep
while the other three hungout with some people by the beach,
unfortunately we never managed to sleep ’cause when playing with the flashlight
we noticed a bunch of big spiders right above our heads!
So we did the only right thing,
woke our teachers up, asked them to scooch over and make some room for us.

The next morning we talked about the whole incident while eating breakfast
and checked so everything was okay with everyone.
After that we had to put our bags in a wagon
’cause we were going to travel by railbikes to the train station
where the bus home were waiting for us.
The beautiful and sunny view we got while riding
kinda made it up for the shitty night and day we’ve had.

Around the time this trip happened the movie Without A Paddle was released
and since I’m a fan of Seth Green, I asked my sister to download it for me.
When I watched it the first time I kept getting flashbacks from this horrible trip,
so I just had to show it to Linda and since then this has somewhat become our movie.

In this indie movie, Gael Garcia Bernal (“Y Tu Mama Tambien”) and Michelle Williams (“Brokeback Mountain”) play a couple whose lives start unraveling when Bernal flirts with infidelity on a business trip in Thailand.

The story also focuses on their live-in Filipino nanny, which is exciting since very few Filipino actors breakthrough in Hollywood. “Mammoth” even features subtitles for the actors speaking the Tagalog language. With more than 1,000 votes on IMDb.com, the film has received a 7 out of 10 rating.

♥ “Salt”

This espionage thriller was originally set to have a male lead, but when Tom Cruise (“Collateral”) dropped out of the project, the role was re-written for Angelina Jolie (“Girl, Interrupted”), naturally. Jolie is Evelyn Salt, a CIA agent, who is framed for a plot to murder the president. She must prove her innocence while on the run from authorities. Leaps unto buses ensue.

♥ “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time”

Jake Gyllenhaal (“Jarhead”) stars in this adaptation of a video game where he, along with a princess (Gemma Arterton from “Quantum of Solace”), must stop a villain from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world.

It sounds lame when you put it like that, but from the trailers, it looks like the film has a good dose of comedy. It’s even produced by powerhouse Jerry Bruckheimer (“Pirates of the Carribean”). Sir Ben Kingsley (“Gandhi”) and Alfred Molina (“Spider-man 2″) also star. Lionsgate and Relativity Media previously released a trailer for “Brothers,” which I posted here. This is the second trailer of the drama, which stars Tobey Maguire (“Spider-man”), Natalie Portman (“Closer”) and Gyllenhaal.  It’s better if you view it without reading a synopsis first, so take a look:

It’s based on Cormac McCarthy’s novel which tells of the end of the world. Hardly anyone is left but Viggo Mortensen (“A History of Violence”), Charlize Theron (“North Country”) and their son, newcomer Kodi Smit-McPhee. Guy Pearce (“Memento”) and Robert Duvall co-star. Dimension Films has also released two trailers for this Oscar contender. They are distinctly different as one is more dreary than the other. Disney is going back to its roots with this animated movie. Beating the likes of singers Jennifer Hudson and Alicia Keys, Anika Rose (“Dreamgirls”) as well as Terrence Howard (“Hustle and Flow”) and John Goodman (“Coyote Ugly”) voice the characters. A teaser trailer and full trailer below:

♥ “Inception”

Here’s a film that’s been kept under wraps so much so that all IMDb.com states is this: “Corporations have developed a technology to enter dreams to extract information from certain people’s heads. A CEO (Leonardo DiCaprio) enters dreams and things begin to escalate, taking a turn for the worst.”

The buzz surrounding “Inception” is mostly due to its director, Christopher Nolan, who also did “The Dark Knight” and “Memento.” However, I’m watching it for one of my favorite actresses, Ellen Page (“Juno”). Marion Cotillard (“The Diving Bell and the Butterfly”), Michael Caine (Miss Congeniality”), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (“Brick”) and Cillian Murphy (“Batman Begins”) are in it as well.

♥ “Green Zone”

Although it’s by the same people who brought us “The Bourne” movies, I think some would hesitate to watch it since it’s another war movie. Still, Matt Damon gives it some star power.

♥ “Invictus”

Damon is one hot commodity as he also stars in this Clint Eastwood film, otherwise known as an Oscar contender. Based on a true story, Damon plays the captain of a rugby team who is enlisted by Nelson Mandela (Morgan Freeman) to win, thus, uniting the country. Prepare to hear Damon speak with a South African accent …

♥ “Gentlemen Broncos”

Some have have predicted that “Broncos” will be a cult hit, perhaps in the same vein as “Napoleon Dynamite.” (They have the same director.) “Broncos” is a comedy about a science fiction author who steals the idea of a student (Michael Angarano from “Will and Grace”) for his next book. Jennifer Coolidge (“Legally Blonde”) is also in the movie, playing Angarano’s mom.

♥ “A Single Man”

Colin Firth (“Bridget Jones’s Diary”) plays a gay man who tries to carry on after the death of his partner. Julianne Moore (“Children of Men”) joins Firth, who is a potential Oscar nominee. Based on Christopher Isherwood’s novel, I must say the trailer is pretty original. It eerily plays on with no words the entire time. The film itself received an 8.6 rating on IMDb.com.

♥ “New Moon”

As the second part in the “Twilight” saga, we find  Bella (Kristen Stewart) left to gather the pieces with Jacob (Taylor Lautner) since the vampire Edward (Robert Pattinson) left her. This time around, Stewart finds herself among werewolves and vampire royalty, the Volturi.

♥ “The Book of Eli”

Denzel Washington (“Man on Fire”) stars in this action movie set in yet another future depicting the end of the world. To salvage what’s left, Washington has to protect a sacred book. Mila Kunis (“That ’70s Show”) co-stars.

♥ “Nowhere Boy”

I don’t know why, but this feels like the most refreshing trailer out of the bunch. ”Nowhere Boy” is John Lennon (newcomer Aaron Johnson) of The Beatles. It chronicles the band’s beginnings and Lennon’s life. Kristin Scott Thomas (“Life as a House”) is part of the supporting cast.

♥ “The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus”

Perhaps better known as Heath Ledger’s (“The Dark Knight”) last film, Dr. Parnassus (Christopher Plummer) strikes a deal with the devil, trading in his daughter at the age of 16. Parnassus tries to rectify his mistake by offering his daughter’s hand in marriage to whoever can help him. Jude Law (“Closer”), Colin Farrell (“Minority Report”) and Johnny Depp (“Blow”) all stepped in to finish Ledger’s role.

♥ “When in Rome”

In this romantic comedy, Kristen Bell (“Forgetting Sarah Marshall”) takes some coins out of a fountain only to have the men who threw them in fall for her. The lovesick puppies include Josh Duhamel (“Transformers”), Will Arnett (“Blades of Glory”), Jon Heder (“Napoleon Dynamite”) and Bell’s real-life beau, Dax Shepard (“Baby Mama”).

♥ “Dear John”

Another Nicholas Sparks’s book, another movie adaptation. By now, I should know better than to fall for Sparks’s sap, but the trailer was enchanting. Channing Tatum (“Stop Loss”) and Amanda Seyfried (“Nine Lives”) fall in love, but Tatum, a soldier, has to return to war. *Tear*

♥ “Pirate Radio” (aka “The Boat that Rocked”)

Richard Curtis, the man behind the darling “Love Actually,” brings a new movie to the big screen. The film already has more than 11,000 voters rating it 7.6 out of 10 stars. “Radio” is a comedy about DJs who air their show on the high seas. Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman (“Doubt”) joins the ensemble cast.

♥ “The Messenger”

IMDb users give this movie 8.6 stars. “Messenger” centers on the soldiers, Woody Harrelson (“Zombieland”) and Ben Foster (“Alpha Dog”), who are tasked with notifying the loved ones of their fallen comrades. Things are complicated when Foster gets involved with a soldier’s widow. Acclaimed actresses, Samantha Morton (“Minority Report”) and Jena Malone (“Stepmom”), round out the cast.

♥ “Alice in Wonderland”

This Tim Burton film hasn’t been released yet, but it’s already won an award. “Alice” was proclaimed the Most Anticipated Fantasy Film at the 2009 Scream Awards. If that still doesn’t convince you to see it, Oscar nominees Anne Hathaway (“Rachel Getting Married”) and Depp are in the movie.

A NBC pode ter encontrado uma excelente substituta para Maura Tierney na série Parenthood, a atriz Helen Hunt está negociando com o canal para entrar no elenco. A atriz é conhecida no mundo das séries por ter estrelado a ótima série dos anos 90, Mad About You.

Maura Tierney ( a Abby emE.R), intrepretou o papel no episódio piloto de Parenthood, mas teve que sair do elenco para se dedicar ao tratamento contra um câncer de mama, diagnósticado em julho.

Parenthood tem um ótimo elenco com Peter Krause (Six Feet Under), Dax Shepard (Bem Vindo à Prisão) e Erika Christensen (Traffic). Helen Hunt é uma excelente atriz, que infelizmente teve poucas chances no cinema, chegou a ser indicada ao Globo de Ouro em 98, pelo filme “Melhor é Impossível”, mas seu último grande filme foi em 2000 em “Do Que as Mulheres Gostam”. Kristen Bell (“Veronica Mars”) and Josh Duhamel (“Transformers”) star in this cute looking romantic comedy about a woman who is unlucky in love but her luck seems to change after a trip to Rome. What can I say…I’m always game to see a good rom-com movie!

Beth Harper (Bell) is a young, successful real estate agent … but she’s completely unlucky in love. However, when the New Yorker travels to Rome to see her newlywed sister, she impulsively steals some coins from a reputed fountain of love, and is then aggressively pursued by a band of wannabe lovers.

The film also stars Academy Award winner Anjelica Huston. I’ve really liked Bell’s work on “Veronica Mars” and ever since the show ended in 2007, she has really made an excellent transition from TV to Movies. Up next for Bell is “Astro Boy”, which will be coming out in theaters this October. Josh Duhamel’s last romantic comedy role was “Win a Date with Tad Hamilton” and currently he can be seen in the “Transformers” movie franchise.

Idiocracy

Written and directed by Mike Judge, this catastrophe of a movie tells the story of how an average man (Luke Wilson) and woman (Maya Rudolph), after agreeing to participate in a top secret government experiment, end up waking up in the future and finding themselves to be the smartest man and woman on the planet. It’s an interesting idea but it had an egregious execution; instead of telling an intelligent story about people with low IQs, it becomes another forgettable, stupid-funny movie full of slapstick and unnecessary gay jokes. Don’t even get me started on how most people below the IQ of 25 could still function like a normal being (walking, talking, et cetera) without taking into account the sensitive issue of people who are severely mentally retarded. To me, this is a one-joke movie that did not deserve a green light from the studios. At first I could tolerate it when the film tried to point out how stupid society already is in year 2005. But when the movie fast-forwarded five hundred years later, it still had the same jokes but more obvious and unfunny. Good actors like Wilson, Dax Shepard and Justin Long were left with nothing to do except make themselves sound like college students smoking weed. If this was meant to be a commentary about the younger generation’s apathy to anything remotely intellectual due to the recent popularity of certain types of music, lifestyles, technologies, and brands, it just doesn’t work because it failed to show the positive sides of those elements. If one is to make a successful farce out of something, one should not present it one-dimensionally. And it’s not like it tried either. This film is nothing but one-dimensional and I found myself feeling upset while watching it. I might’ve lost a few brain cells while watching this garbage so I insist that you avoid this movie at all cost.

NBC has pushed the debut of its new drama series Parenthood from Sept. 23 to their midseason schedule due to an unspecified medical matter involving star Maura Tierney, 44, according to a statement NBC released July 10.

The show, which is based on the 1989 movie starring Steve Martin, was scheduled to begin production on July 27, has been pushed back for 2 months and will resume in late September.

Parenthood explores the relationship between four siblings (Tierney, Peter Krause, Erika Christensen, and Dax Shepard) and their parents (Craig T. Nelson and Bonnie Bedelia). The new medical drama Mercy will take Parenthood’s spot this fall.

Smother
★ / ★★★★

This movie’s greatest weakness is its writing and it is ultimately its downfall. Diane Keaton stars as an overbearing mother who moves into her son and daughter-in-law’s (Dax Shepard and Liv Tyler) house because she’s having marriage problems with her husband (Ken Howard). If her annoyances are not enough, an awkward writer who’s a friend of Liv Tyler’s character (Mike White) moves in with them to work on his potential science fiction/war movie script. With the exception of Tyler, I found everyone to be really annoying. I feel like the characters are more like caricatures of people with extreme personality problems instead of actual complex people with good qualities and bad qualities. Keaton tends to overact and I felt her desperation to be funny in every frame. It was painful to watch in the least. Shepard is also very unfunny; in fact, his character is pretty unkind to his mother even before she moved into the house. If I was in his shoes, even I would try to hear out my histrionic mother’s problems. Shepard’s character needed more heart and his frustrations in his own marriage and jobs are not enough of an excuse to warrrant his behavior. I also didn’t like the fact that Vince Di Meglio, the director, was too obvious in regards to telling his audiences what’s funny and what’s not funny. What I noticed was, most of the time, when something funny was happening, a character would scream or yell. Someone always has to be the butt of the joke and it’s utterly unappealing to me. The movie even resulted to two characters trading remarks at a funeral. It’s supposed to be funny but it’s ultimately not because it’s just plain pathetic. That funeral scene cements how immature and self-centered the characters are. This is another one of those bad comedies that you try to forget but cannot quite get there because of how demeaning it was for the actors who are usually pretty entertaining.

NBC unveiled a strong lineup of broad and diverse quality programming for the 2009-2010 television season announcing the pickups of six new series featuring four new dramas including “Trauma,” “Parenthood,” “Mercy” and the event series “Day One,” as well as two new comedies including “Community” and “100 Questions.” Four returning series pickups were also announced today including “Heroes,” “Southland,” “Parks and Recreation” and the addition of six new episodes of “Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday” skewering today’s top stories in live half-hour primetime shows.

The new and returning series will launch next season and the epic event series “Day One” is slated to premiere out of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

“The Jay Leno Show” will be broadcast Monday-Fridays, 10-11 p.m. ET beginning in the fall. Previously announced series pickups include “The Office,” “30 Rock,” “The Biggest Loser,” “The Celebrity Apprentice,” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” “Friday Night Lights,” and new alternative series “The Marriage Ref,” “Breakthrough With Tony Robbins” and “Who Do You Think You Are?”

New Dramas

PARENTHOOD
From the executive producers of the box-office hit “Parenthood” — Ron Howard and Brian Grazer (Oscar winners for “A Beautiful Mind”), and writer/executive producer Jason Katims (“Friday Night Lights”) — this contemporary re-imagining of the blockbuster film depicts the colorful and imperfect Braverman family — four grown siblings sharing the headaches, heartaches and joy of being parents. The star-studded cast includes Peter Krause, Maura Tierney, Craig T. Nelson, Dax Shepard, Bonnie Bedelia, Monica Potter, Erika Christensen and Sarah Ramos. When Sarah Braverman (Tierney, “ER”), a financially strapped single mother, returns home to her parents and siblings in Berkeley, Calif. after packing up her Fresno apartment and uprooting her two inconvenienced kids, Amber (Mae Whitman, “In Treatment”) and Drew (Miles Heizer, “ER”), she is greeted by her opinionated father, Zeek (Nelson, “Family Stone,” “Coach”), and strong mother, Camille (Bedelia, “Heart Like a Wheel”), who are privately dealing with their own marital issues. As Sarah is reunited with her siblings — sister, Julia (Christensen, “Traffic”), and brothers Crosby (Shepard, “Baby Mama”) and Adam (Krause, “Six Feet Under”) — all struggling with issues of their own, it’s clear that the Braverman reunion is just what they need to face the everyday challenges of modern family life. “Parenthood” is a production from Imagine Entertainment and Universal Media Studios. TRAUMA
Executive producer Peter Berg (NBC’s “Friday Night Lights”) delivers “Trauma,” the first high-octane medical drama series to live exclusively in the field where the real action is. Like an adrenaline shot to the heart, “Trauma” is an intense, action-packed look at one of the most dangerous medical professions in the world: first responder paramedics. When emergencies occur, the trauma team from San Francisco General is first on the scene, traveling by land, by sea or by air to reach their victims in time. From the heights of the city’s Transamerica Pyramid to the depths of the San Francisco Bay, these heroes must face the most extreme conditions to save lives — and give meaning to their own existence in the process. Starring in “Trauma” are Derek Luke (“Notorious”), Cliff Curtis (“10,000 B.C”), Anastasia Griffith (“Damages”), Aimee Garcia (“George Lopez”), Kevin Rankin (“Friday Night Lights”) and Jamey Sheridan (“Law & Order: Criminal Intent”). “Trauma” is a production of Universal Media Studios and Film 44. MERCY
“Mercy,” a new medical drama with a unique point of view, portrays the lives of the staff at Mercy Hospital as seen through the eyes of those who know it best — its nurses. Nurse Veronica Callahan (Taylor Schilling, “Dark Matter”) returns to Mercy from a military tour in Iraq — and she knows more about medicine than all of the residents combined. Together with fellow nurses Sonia Jimenez (Jamie Lee Kirchner, “Rescue Me”) and Chloe Payne (Michelle Trachtenberg, “Gossip Girl”), Callahan navigates through the daily traumas and social landmines of life and love both inside the hospital and out in the real world. The cast also includes: James Tupper (“Men in Trees”) as Dr. Chris Sands, a new doctor at the hospital who complicates Veronica’s life; Diego Klattenhoff (“Supernatural”) as Mike Callahan, Veronica’s husband; and Guillermo Diaz (“Weeds”) as Nurse Angel Lopez. “Mercy” is a production from Universal Media Studios and Berman Braun. New Comedies

100 QUESTIONS (fka “100 Questions for Charlotte Payne”)
Emmy winner James Burrows (“Will & Grace,” “Friends”) directs “100 Questions,” a new comedy series written and executive-produced by Christopher Moynihan (“For Your Consideration”) that provides hilarious answers to 100 questions about love. Charlotte Payne (Sophie Winkleman, “Peep Show”) is looking for love and has rejected multiple marriage proposals — but she has yet to meet Mr. Right. When she joins a popular online dating site, she gets a little help from her dating counselor Ravi (Amir Talai, “The Ex List”) – who requires her to take a 100-question compatibility test. The questions aren’t easy for Charlotte to answer, and each one requires her to recount a poignant and humorous time in her life with friends Leslie (Elizabeth Ho, “Women’s Murder Club”), Jill (Joy Suprano, NBC’s “Law & Order”), Mike (Christopher Moynihan “For Your Consideration”) and Wayne (David Walton “Quarterlife”). The test becomes a journey of self-discovery for Charlotte who begins to realize what she truly wants in a relationship. Ron West (“Psych”), Kelly Kulchak (“Psych”) and Michelle Nader (“King of Queens”) join Moynihan as executive producers. The series is produced by Universal Media Studios and Tagline.

COMMUNITY
From Emmy Award-winning directors Joe and Anthony Russo (“Arrested Development”) comes “Community,” a smart comedy series about higher education — and lower expectations. The student body at Greendale Community College is made up of high-school losers, newly divorced housewives, and old people who want to keep their minds active. Within these not-so-hallowed halls, “Community” focuses on a band of misfits, at the center of which is a fast-talkin’ lawyer whose degree has been revoked (Joel McHale, “The Soup”), who form a study group and end up learning a lot more about themselves than they do about their course work. In addition to McHale, the series also stars: Gillian Jacobs (“The Book of Daniel”); Yvette Nicole Brown (“Rules of Engagement”); Danny Pudi (“Greek”); Alison Brie (“Mad Men”); and comedy legend Chevy Chase (“Saturday Night Live”). “Community” is a Krasnoff Foster Entertainment, Harmonious Claptrap and Russo Brothers production in association with Sony Pictures Television and Universal Media Studios. Without A Paddle 2004

Sam – I’ve seen this enough through other TBS airings that it didn’t matter that I wasn’t in the office to see this on this particular day.  I don’t HATE this movie, but I’m definitely not a fan.  I am however a fan of Dax Shepard for some reason.  I really liked him in Idiocracy and Baby Mama.  The one thing that really bugs me about this movie is when the three main characters find their most prized trinkets that they left behind and it just so happens that Seth Green’s character left a C3PO figure.  It was well known even before the days of Robot Chicken that Seth is a fan of lil’ plastic things and it was obvious to me when this scene happened that he definitely had some input as to what his character’s most prized possession would be.  I think it’s just jealously that Seth Green has had a successful venture because of his love of toys and I just have a massive debt, boxes upon boxes in storage of crap I can’t display and a wife that goes retarded when she runs into him at San Diego Comic Con.  Hey Seth, do you have a clear Wraith variant?  I’m still missing that one.

Tim –With Scream airing only a few days before, I had already met my Matthew Lillard quota for May. But, I watched this anyway, without the Sam Wells/Jimminy Cricket over my shoulder telling me it was my duty to the blog to view Without a Paddle. The whole time I was was half watching it, I couldn’t get out of my head what the pitch meeting for this film must have been.  Won’t you join me in my brain for a minute?

SCENE 1: Screenwriter walks to executives office. Executive is intersted because he knows “dude comedies” make all kinds of money. Screenwriter, sweating, says “Okay…listen to this:  It’s PORKIES..” Executives ears perk up, evil grin passing over greasy face.  Back to screewriter. “Meets DELIVERANCE.”
