Teeth shattering… Lips quivering.. .and I’m shivering.

It’s below freezing outside, and it’s windy. It feels like 22F (which is -5C). Oregon is experience an extreme winter storm, the weather is so cold and windy, but there is no snow (lucky for us).

It kinda feels like “The Day After Tomorrow” movie, where it’s normally warm, but then suddenly the following day it’s subzero and everything freezes. I just hope nothing else from Hollywood comes true .

2012… I was so excited to watch this movie, I had it written down that’s how dorky i was lol. But I’d have to admit this is one of the best movies. I know there’s a lot of similarities between 2012 and the day after tomorrow. (which i did like that one too) BUT I thought it was very well done. The graphics were very well done, the story was well done. There was humor, thrill, and to be honest i was a little bit freaked out. So out of 5 braids I’ll give this one a 4.75 braids

Welcome to 2012: where every end of the world scenario and cliche concocted by man is put on display using amazing special effects. Unfortunately, even the pyrotechnics and Santa Monica falling in the ocean and some oversized space ship meant to be a modern day Noah’s ark lose their appeal after TWO AND A HALF HOURS. The plot is miserable at best and the situations are either completely predictable or entirely implausible. Apparently Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) and his wife split up because Jackson worked too much and loved her too little. Next time guys: don’t get an embittered housewife to write your script. K? Thx. Even a surprisingly comedic appearance by Woody Harrelson, as a cracked radio host who broadcasts from his motor home that’s chock full of conspiracy theories, can’t provide enough entertainment to make this trip down cataclysm lane interesting enough to actually pay attention to.

Not that can you can expect much else from director Roland Emmerich of let’s kill the super advanced aliens with a laughing skull, and run away from the COLD AIR, fame. He seems to have  a knack for ridiculous films that fail to entertain and completely lack in substance (Okay, okay, Independence Day wasn’t that bad but only cause Will Smith is made of win).

On the upside watching an aircraft carrier flatten the White House was surprisingly satisfying and, unlike most other action flicks this year (I’m looking at you Transformers 2), you can at least tell what the hell is going on. Also, seeing Danny Glover play the President did give me a nice nostalgic feeling – Angels In The Outfield was one of my favorite films as a young lad – it did not, however, give me the 158 minutes of my life back that 2012 entirely wasted.

If you’re the type of person that can stare at something shiny for hours on end then 2012 is probably for you. Otherwise avoid the brain rotting stupidity and see something else.

Will Smith og Jeff Goldblum er to barske gutter, der står klar til at tage den ulige kamp op. Og det gør de godt, hvis du spørger mig.

Ingen lytter dog mere til Harry Dalton end den kvindelige borgmester, men snart får de dog meget andet at lytte efter – lyden af eksploderende lava! I rollen som manden der kæmper mod naturen og de forstokkede kommunalpolitikere, ses Pierce Brosnan. Den kvindelige borgmester, Rachel Wando, spilles af Linda Hamilton.

Helen Hunt og Bill Paxton spiller to videnskabsfolk, der forfølger den mest destruktive naturkraft, der har hærget gennem Amerikas Midvesten i 50 år. Ved at udsætte en beholder fuld af små sensorer umiddelbart foran skypumperne, håber tonadojægerne at de bliver suget op, så man kan kortlægge skypumpernes anatomi. Men for at få placeret beholderen rigtigt, bliver de to tornadojægere nødt til at komme helt tæt på, så tæt at de næsten kan røre ved deres gigantiske og lumske modstandere.

En lille gruppe overlevende bliver fanger dybt inde i skibet og må arbejde sammen for at slippe ud af skibsvraget, der langsomt fyldes med vand. Opgaven gøres ikke lettere af, at alt er smadret og vendt på hovedet.

Filmen er endnu en moderne fortolkning af H.G. Wells’ klassiske science fiction-roman, der omhandler en fantastisk kamp for selve menneskehedens overlevelse, set gennem en ganske almindelig families optik. Ray Ferrier (Tom Cruise) må flygte for at redde sig selv og sin familie fra en skræmmende hær af trebenede rumvæsener, der udsletter alt på deres vej. War of the Worlds er et actionspækket eventyr, der nærmest eksploderer med spektakulære specialeffekter! Men for mig bliver filmen noget ødelagt af ret dårligt skuespil og en meget irriterende hysterisk pige, der skriger hele filmen igennem. Ja, du er nok kun 10 år, men hold dog kæft, så de der rumvæsener ikke kan finde dig!!

For at fejre opførelsen af verdens højeste skyskraper, holder holdet bag en fest på øverste etage. Desværre har elektrikeren brugt dårlige materialer for at spare penge. En kortslutning sætter ild til 85. etage og pludselig er festdeltagerne på 135. etage fanget. Brandmajor O’Hallorhan og arkitekt Roberts forsøger sammen at redde gæster fra ilden.

Politimændene John McLoughlin og William Jimeno er på arbejde en stille dag i New York i september, da terrorister flyver to fly ind i Word Trade Center. Sammen med andre redningsfolk kommer betjentene de indespærrede til undsætning, men ender med selv at blive fanget under murbrokkerne. Chancerne for at overleve er ikke store, men John og William nægter at give op.

Golden Gate broen styrter sammen. Pacemakeripatienter falder døde om, ingen ved hvorfor. Fuglene mister deres stedsans. Årsagen skal findes i jordens indre – kernen er holdt op med at rotere! Det har den skræmmende konsekvens, at det magnetiske felt, som jorden er omgivet af, er ved at gå i opløsning. Et hemmeligt sted i Utah arbejder en gruppe videnskabsfolk med tiden som deres værste fjende. De får kun 3 måneder til at bygge et fartøj, der skal kunne rejse ind til jordens kerne med en atombombe, som skal genstarte kernens rotation. Som astronauter- nu terranauter- er det den kvindelige Major Beck Childs (Hilary Swank), der skal styre besætningen sikkert ind til jordens kerne og tilbage igen.

Byen Huntingburg trues af en oversvømmelse. Sheriffen evakuerer befolkningen samtidig med at en havareret pengetransport bliver overfaldet af en røverbande. Men transportens chauffør, Tom, stikker af med pengene, forfulgt af banden og politiet, der ikke er så retskafne som de burde være. Undervejs får Tom uventet hjælp af Karen, der prøver at holde vandmasserne ude fra den kirke, hun er ved at restaurere. Men langsomt strammes nettet om de to unge…

Heldigvis er der en modig taxa-chauffør (Sylvester Stallone), der ved lidt om tunnelkatastrofer og ikke står tilbage for at tage på en redningsekspedition under jorden!

En hyggelig fest for at fejre Robs afrejse til et fedt job i Japan afbrydes pludseligt, da jorden i New York begynder at ryste. Forvirrede og bange styrter folk op på taget af bygningen, hvor de ser en ildkugle fare gennem luften. Så rystes bygningen igen, strømmen går, panikken bryder ud. Hud har fået til opgave at lave en videooptagelse som en farvelgave til Rob, og han lægger ikke kameraet. På den måde får vi et øjebliksbillede af, hvordan panikken breder sig, når husene rystes og gaderne fyldes af støvskyer, når skyskrabere synker i grus. Hud følger en lille gruppe på flugten, men da Rob over mobilen får fat i sin elskede Beth og hører, at hun ligger fastklemt i et af de sammenstyrtede huse, ændrer han retning. Mod bedre vidende går han mod centrum af Manhattan, hvor noget stort og dødbringende er på spil. Og mod al sund fornuft går Hud og et par af vennerne samme vej. Uhh!

En astrofysiker har opdaget, at verdens undergang er nært forestående. Solen vil snart eksplodere og Jorden vil gå under. Mens et hold af forskere kæmper mod tiden for at forhindre, at hans dommedagsprofeti skal gå i opfyldelse, forvandles verden til et sandt inferno. Med bl.a. Luke Perry og Tia Carrere.

Solen er ved at dø og sker det, vil det selvsagt få katastrofale konsekvenser for jorden og menneskeheden. Det største rumskib der nogensinde er blevet bygget, ICARUS II, bliver derfor sendt ud i rummet med en enorm atom nyttelast ombord, hvis formål er at gendanne de dele af solen, der allerede er gået ud. Ombord på rumskibet er en besætning bestående af otte astronauter. De kommer alle til at stå ansigt til ansigt med deres værste frygt.Sandsynligheden for at missionen lykkes synes mere og mere usandsynlig som de langsomt nærmer sig den frygtindgydende og overvældende kraft fra universets største og mest imponerende enkelte objekt – solen!

I’ve just recently sat through director Roland Emmerich’s latest opus, 2012, and thought I’d review it on here. I’d like to say that I was amazed and overawed by the spectacle of it all, but sadly that’s not the case. At the end of the film I felt similar to when I’d sat through ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ in Newcastle in 2004. Both films were big on action and had so many special effects crammed into them they were virtually just one big special effect. However, both left a rather unsatisfied feeling and that’s how I felt as the credits to 2012 rolled. For anyone who hasn’t yet seen it, the plot is, divorced dad and limo driver to wealthy Russian oligarch John Cusack finds out that the world, as we know it, is about to end. Dragging his ex wife and kids along, plus her new husband, they set out to make sure they survive this new planetary catastrophe. Which, unsurprisingly, they do. The problem I have is, in addition to having to suspend your disbelief 350,000 feet above the floor, the story just isn’t there. The idea that the Mayans predicted the world will end in 2012 (and that could be a whole other post in itself) is, in my opinion, interesting enough to sustain a better plot than the one that is unravelled in 2012, which ends in a much similar way to The Day after Tomorrow and Independence Day, with humanity living to fight another day and blah, blah, blah. Aside from the plot having more cheesy scenes than a block of wensleydale, it’s a film straight out of a tired old Hollywood that’s relying more and more on CGI and special effects to bring it box office returns rather than plot and story. But don’t get me wrong, it has its good points. In addition to Cusack, Woody Harrelson and Danny Glover also star in it and all turn in good, decent, performances. Also, it’s over 2 and a half hours long but this does fly by. Go see it if you like your films big on effects and like the actors starring in it. It is entertaining, it’s just not that spectacular. You have to turn off your brain when you enter to view the movie ‘2012′. Despite the title, there is almost no mention to the Mayan (and a couple other cultures) who have prophecies of a disasterious and possibly species ending event that is suppose to occur in 2012. I think I counted 3 references.

The special effects in the movie are great. But then the guys who did this also were involved in that disaster of a film – every pun intended – ‘Day After Tomorrow’ which just plain sucked. This one is better even with the major plot holes. The effects are better even if you have seen some of the same things in ‘Day After Tomorrow’.  Despite the star power – John Cusak, Danny Glover, Amanda Peet to name a few – there is no acting here. None is required. There was a lot of screaming though as though if on cue and it made the cast sound like at times they were on a rollercoaster ride at Six Flags instead of say flying through a collapsing skyscaper.

This movie is good if you want to go, sit back, be mindless for a couple hours and munch down on popcorn. If you want something that has texture, or just plain makes sense, this isn’t the movie for you. And the irony is of course that ‘2012′ will be facing it’s own life threatening event when ‘Twilight: New Moon” hits the screens in just over 48 hours from now.

Is it really coming? Is the end near? What happens after doomsday?

John Cusack stars as Jackson Curtis, a struggling sci-fi author who moonlights as a Russian mobster’s limo driver. He is divorced and wants to win back his kids love. So he takes his kids on a camping trip to re-ignite that long lost spark.

Meanwhile a scientist in India discovers that the Earth’s core is heating up thanks to the sun irradiating too many neutrinos (or some shit). A friend (Chiwetal Ejiofor) of his who works for the US government freaks out and flies back to washington to alert the President (Danny Glover).

Meanwhile back with Jackson he takes his kids to Yellowstone Park where he meets Yogi Bear and they look for picnic baskets, oh sorry, I mean he meets a creepy guy (Woody Harrelson) who lives in a Winnebago from the 70s and broadcasts a chaos theory radio show out of it.

The creepy guy tells him “the end is near” and Yellowstone is going to become one giant volcano. Of course he doesnt believe him until his wife calls screaming that she was just involved in an earthquake that split the family supermarket in two. Of course creepy guy and Indian scientist guy are right and we are off to the races dodging meteors, flaming cars, cracks that seem to only follow the actors and crumbling airstrips.

First of all, check your brain at the door. Strap on a parachute and hang on because folks, it’s going to be a bumpy ride!

2012 is just that a very, very bumpy ride.

You have so many storylines slamming into your face in the first 30 minutes two of the dumber ones could have been turfed without any complications. The lounge singers, who cares if George Segal is stuck in a Poseidon Adventure rip off? The rich art guy (Patrick Bauchau, yeah I know the guys name) who died in the same tunnel as Princess Diana was that story really necessary at all? These storylines were DOA when they appeared.

The main storyline involving Cusack, his kids, his ex (Amanda Peet) and her new boyfriend doctor/pilot is where the story moves along the best. At best the rest of the people were cannon fodder.

This movie reminded me of those amusement park rides where the fake tour guide tries to tell you the legend of the one-eyed caveman or the toothless hippo but really all you are there for is to get shook and go down a sudden drop in the dark as a grotesque dummy jumps at you.

God I love those. I went on one in Japan at there version of Disneyland called Disney Sea where Indiana Jones was our tour guide and I was in stitches the whole time because here is a perfect replica of Harrison Ford screaming at me in perfect Japanese. Anyway back to the review.

Take that ride, the crazy story is the tour guide and the utterly astounding special effects are the sudden drops and the grotesque dummy.

I really can’t say any actor was any better than any other actor in this because they were all just amusement park robots under the leadership of the master of disaster himself Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, Day After Tomorrow).

Emmerich has really out done himself on the production design, effects and well making this roller coaster work. Just too bad it clocks in at over 2.5 hours. Cause that’s a lot of time to focus on a very weak script. The script is so weak I might even compare it Emmerich’s Godzilla attempt.

I loved the thrills, the effects, Cusack’s look of bewilderment, Thandie Newton’s eyes and well to turn my brain off for 2 hours. This film will please the Transformers movie generation and it is just a good time to behold even if it is like an ice cream sandwich without the ice cream.

2012 has hit the big screen today and it’s been on everybody’s mind. This epic film is brought to you by director Roland Emmerich who’s brought us other disaster films like The Day After Tomorrow and Independence Day . The film revolves around the belief that the world will end once the Mayan Calendar does (December 20th 2012). There are a couple of main characters in this film but perhaps the protagonist in this story is Jackson Curtis (John Cusack), a down-on-his-luck writer who does everything to ensure the safety of his ex-wife, two children and even his ex-wife’s new boyfriend. From the look of the trailer this film has awesome written all over it. The computer-generated effects leave us on the edge of our seat. All I can say is be prepared to see some major worldwide icons become obliterated. The trailer can be watched below! Go buy tickets for it now, you won’t be disappointed!

1. lost angel

lost angel began pretty differently than their previous efforts with strings and a darker touch than normal dat.  That is before Misato (guitarist) comes in with a harder drive than normal.  Even misono gives a pretty good performance as well and Daisuke plays 2nd fiddle in the song.  Then after a while it seems like the song isn’t really going anywhere and has the same rhythms going on.  Yeah, I really started to get tired of it pretty quickly.

2. Soshite Boku ni Dekiru Koto

However, Soshite Boku ni Dekiru Koto is leagues better than “lost angel”.  For one thing it’s tie-in with the Tales… series is already one good point for them since “Starry Heavens” was also a tie-in through the series.  I really love Misato’s guitar riffs all over the song and could be one of his best tracks.  Even Daisuke (keyboardist) plays a bit more broader here and mixed with misono, they really made an epic track to begin the era off.  Makes me wonder why this wasn’t the A-side in the first place. 

3. more than a million miles

Oh the lulz factor.  This track had a tie-in to the movie “Day After Tomorrow” and hey what’s the name of the band?  Already from the start you can feel the melancholic sound and oddly enough an acoustic one at that.  Everyone knows misono can’t do ballads, especially as of late, but I really like this track and misono isn’t horrible which is a first.  Best ballad of misono, probably.

dat begins their final era with lost angel, but seriously the title track is pretty meh and overshadowed by both of its fellow B-sides.  Soshite Boku ni Dekiru Koto is catchy, spunky and full of dat power which is great and is one of their best B-sides.  more than a million miles was also great and showed off misono in a ballad in a good light.  Pretty good way to begin the era (minus the A-side)

You know what? I like this movie. It’s a cross between Star Wars – in water – underwater – meets Iron Man, and plenty of action, which will definitely keep you in awake. It delivers.  It’s an action, adventure, and Fantasy. Definitely fantasy, if you want to walk away from this movie. You probably walked out of every action-adventure-scifi-fantasy movie. Or probably don’t understand the plot at all.

Well, I did. I listen to the dialogue of the story very carefully and look for clues in the movie. You should do the same thing. I know I used to have a G.I. Joe doll and a Barbie Doll. I used to swap heads and put them on different bodies, that was fun to do.

Anyway, the plot is the Military have the nanobots that can destroy anything so they made a nanobot warhead missile. The bad guys heard about it and wants to destroy the world. Why?

The good guys, the G. I. Joe team. You can’t work alone, if you did, you probably be dead – think fantasy. They wanted to stop the bad guys from prevent a huge destruction to the world, starting with Paris and the Eiffel Tower.

The cast includes Channing Tatum, played Duke, he could be G.I. Joe. I didn’t know G.I. Joe got a real name like – Duke. So that was good.  The women will like him.

Sienna Miller, the beautiful and sexy woman, played the female villainous, Ana, with her sexy black hair. Hot look on her too and the ex love to Duke. She tried to blow up Paris.  I like a woman who likes to blow up stuff.

Marlon Wayans played Ripchord. You remember him, from the Scary Movies franchise. Dance Flick, Little Man, and Living color. He turned out to be a good actor.

Rachel Nichols, the girl in the red hair.  Hotter. She was the weapon specialist. She can fight.  Did I tell you she was hotter. I need ice. I need to be cool. She was also in Star Trek 2009, she played a red woman – even hotter.

Dennis Quiad, he played General Hawk. He  always played a military person. In Day After Tomorrow, he played a military officer or scientist. In Yours, Mine and Ours he played a military dad.  In Spongebob and Squarepants he played a sea captain.

Karolina Kurkova, the supermodel, the blonde in the movie, played a blonde Military officer. Remember she got stab in the chest. The bad guys could easily bop her on the head and knock her out. Keep the blonde woman. She looked hot. I need ice tea.

Joseph Gordon Levit, played Rex, the brother of Ana, but turned evil. Remember the early 1995 he was on Third Rock from the Sun, I love that show. It was funny back then.

He died in the bunker when it was blast by a missile, Duke tried to save him but couldn’t. His face was disfigured and he looked like Darth Vadar without the mask, but has a breathing mechanism.

Ray Park, Snake eyes, the silent one, who fights like a ninja. He was Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode one.

The younger one, Snake eyes, was Leo Howard, who does Leo Little Big Show on the Disney Channel. He’s a champion in martial arts since he was 5 years old. Give him food or he will kick your ass.

Byung-Hun-Lee, Storm. If you can’t pronounce his first name called him Brain.

The younger one, Storm, Brandon Soo Hoo. He looked the part and handsome young dude.

This movie delivers everything, including a dogfight underwater, which was cool.

Brandon Fraser from the Mummies movies made a cameo appearance, and so did Dwayne Johnson, The Rock. If you blink, you probably already missed it.

Overall the movie was good – for men. The women, they probably like it too.

We have an interesting video from our friends over at /Film, who not only got to sit down with director Roland Emmerich, but also taped their interview for everyone’s viewing pleasure.

They quiz the blockbuster director about his upcoming film 2012, chat about the characters in his films (past and present), his use of miniatures vs. CGI, and how he came up with the staging for some of his disasters.

Near the end of the interview Emmerich also talks about his Foundation adaptation (we reported) and how much he loved the books:

“As a kid already loved it. Was one of the… I mean, I think everybody who’s a science fiction fan has read that thing, right?”

Absolutely right. He also acknowledges that it will be very difficult to make that into a film.

Miała być dzisiaj notka o FMA, ale tak mnie wczoraj wciągnęło w ToS, że nie miałam kiedy obejrzeć nowego odcinka xD Spędziłam chyba ponad 2 godziny, żeby odpalić tą gierkę na emulatorze GameCube’a (z emulatorem PS2 wolę nie eksperymentować, aby przypadkiem komp mi nie wybuchł z przepracowania ;P). Kiedy w końcu ustawiłam wszystko na optimum i wyciągam te 20-60 klatek pozwalających przyjemnie grać, tak mnie “wsysnęło”, że hej! Teraz dopiero czuję jak bardzo mi brakowało porządnego jRPGa do pogrania

Piosenka, którą wam dzisiaj przedstawiam, to japoński opening do tejże właśnie gry – ja gram oczywiście w angielską wersję językową, która niestety ma zamiast niej zwykły instrumental. Od czego jest jednak youtube

Całkiem przyjemny utworek, który dość łatwo wpada w ucho – może nie tak jak “Ring a Bell” z Vesperii, czy “Karma” z Abyssa, ale i tak jest bardzo dobry ^^ Przypomina mi w pewnym sensie piosenki Megumi Hayashibary

Aha! Zaznaczam, że anime na podstawie tej gry ma inny opening! Swoją drogą, to w wersji animowanej seiyuu Colette jest Nana Mizuki – kiedy to zobaczyłam dość porządnie się zdziwiłam To tym bardziej potęguje moje przekonanie, że tak mangę jak i anime także trzeba zaliczyć

After the brief glimpse of the ginormous tidal wave in the 2012 teaser we are finally treated to a full-on trailer with lots and lots of footage. Catastrophe, apocalypse, Roland Emmerich. That should tell you all you need to know about the German director’s new film to be released November 13. Judging from the trailer, if you liked Independence Day and Day After Tomorrow you will like 2012 and should go see it. What to do when you only liked one and not the other (like me)? You gotta watch the trailer and judge for yourself. One thing is for sure – the special effects will be top notch, there’s going to be some tear-jerking drama and a whole lot of things will blow up.

1. Starry Heavens

We begin this mini-album with a dat track which kind of beats the purpose of a “just-only misono” song.  I continue to not find anything that’s really special about this song, but I guess since it is the bands most well-known track, I can’t argue with that.  misono does sound pretty good overall and I quite like the fact that she isn’t screaming her head off.

2. Soshite Boku ni Dekiru Koto

Oddly enough this was my first song that I ever heard from day after tomorrow and misono, so I’ve easily fell in love with it.  Why it wasn’t an A-side surprises me (which by the way this was a B-side from “lost angel).  Now this is a pretty sweet track borderlining epic because misono is just right for the song and I love the guitar riffs in the verses and the after chorus.  I have to say one of my favorite songs from them.

3. VS

Then we leave dat for misono’s solo songs and VS is up first.  Everyone states that there hasn’t been anything quite that good in misono’s career since this song, which is actually false because there’s others.  VS was a pretty nice debut overall and she sang it with pretty good vocals compared to “end=START” which I’ll agree her vocals are not as good as they are here.  I really like this track and its accompanying PV.

3. Lovely♥Cat’s Eye

Whee, the cat song comes up next and I really don’t see how this track got a tie-in through the Tales series.  Like “VS”, this track has some very exciting moments and I love the chorus to death since it’s all loud and all the various cat moments made the song even better.  I do hear some guys voice in the background during the 2nd bridge…I never heard that…well whichever, this song is still good.

5. Ninin Sankyaku

The only song to actually have Tales in the PV, Ninin Sankyaku was a breath of fresh air in the second era because this was just damn good and I was happy to hear something epic.  I really love the after-chorus where she’s backed away from the microphone, that was just too cool misono!  Still, this track was just a great song to represent the games and it shows.

6. Tales…

OH!, here as a bonus is a new track from misono…Though as I listen along to the song it actually screams day after tomorrow especially comparing the arrangement against “Ninin Sankyaku”  Actually, looking at it, it might be an unused song from the group because misono does sound a bit younger and the song sounds a little aged.  The song though sounds like a mix of the mehness of “Starry Heavens” and guitar moments of “Soshite Boku ni Dekiru Koto”.  That’s not good thing either, since the track is pretty boring still.  Oh well, but I really do think it’s an unreleased dat track.

misono’s first best-of doesn’t exactly scream NEED TO BUY, but it’s a good collection of songs from the Tales series.  I do think misono’s solo stuff outshines the dat stuff and that shows that misono is doing better sounding off as a solo artist rather than being in a group….(imagine if misono was still in dat, it’d be like GND).  The new track was different, but y’know give credit where it’s due….it’s a dat track xD
