Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has been offered a major syndicated TV talk show by reality show producer Mark Burnett but turned down the deal, Newsmax has learned.

One of country’s sought after speakers on the political circuit, Palin, Burnett believed,  could be turned into the next Oprah. He offered to produce a daytime TV talk show hosted by the conservative icon herself.

But so far, Palin has said no — though the deal is not completely dead, say insiders.

The sticking points have been over location and money, people familiar with the deal say.
Burnett has insisted that Palin do the show from either New York or Los Angeles, which would require her to move for a significant portion of the year from her residence in Alaska where she lives with husband Todd.

Palin has a distaste for cultural elites in the Big Apple and LA, one person familiar with the discussions said.

Another top Hollywood studio executive tells Newsmax that Palin was ultimately willing to move to either city, but “she passed over money.”

“I don’t think she closed the door,” he added.

Asked to comment about the offer, Palin told Newsmax via email: “Todd and I have always loved working with Mark Burnett, and our family is always up for adventure, so never say never.”

Burnett’s office declined to comment on the matter.

The terms of Burnett’s deal have not been disclosed, but typically a new host would receive a fraction of advertising and syndication fees.

British-born producer Burnett, called “the king of reality TV,” launched “Survivor” back in 2000 and “The Apprentice” with Donald Trump in 2004.

In addition to “Survivor,” he currently has three other reality shows on the air, “Celebrity Apprentice” with Trump, “The Voice,” and “Shark Tank.”

He also produced, along with his wife, actress Roma Downey, the wildly successful miniseries “The Bible,” which aired on the History channel in March.

Palin previously hosted the TLC cable TV show “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” in 2010-11, which was produced by Burnett’s production company.

The IMDB credits her for appearing as Katherine Chancellor in 1006 episodes of The Young and the Restless, a tally that must surely fall short considering that she first appeared in 1973, the same year the show premiered on CBS. A single Daytime Emmy award is an indictment on the Emmys more than a statement of her acting abilities. Her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame sits at 6801 Hollywood Blvd, a location I will surely visit when I am in California later this year.

Cooper was a legend in her own time if there ever was one, the dame of an era of television that the world left behind. America once loved its morning show anchors, evening newscasters and late night hosts who came into our lives on a daily basis. All of those daily institutions went into decline as entertainment options fragmented, including soap operas. Once-standard shows like All My Children and One Life To Live are gone and only four remain.  My grandpa surely went apeshit in his grave at the cancelation of his beloved Asa Buchanan. OLTL recently returned as a 30-minute series on Hulu, but Grandpa Julius ain’t got time for that. Asa belongs on television with the Cubs and Crossfire, dammit.

The Young and The Restless has not been immune from the decline even though its ratings improved after last year’s housecleaning of on- and off-screen talent. It still leads the other four remaining sudsers in all categories. Y&R is making a clear move towards youth in its talent and fresher, more modern sets, indicating that it probably knows it needs to keep and attract younger viewers. As it does, though, they will be coming into the show in a different way than past generations.

Soaps used to be passed down like a family heirloom. My mom’s dad passed Asa on to her, she passed Y&R on to my sister and me. If either of us ever has children, they may take it from us. That connection to their closest relationships is part of why soap fans are so incredibly tied to their shows. As more viewers come to the show without that connection they will be more difficult to retain.

Soap operas will then rely more on another connection unique to the genre. I obviously only knew Cooper in the way that all viewers did, but she and her co-stars have been a part of my life every weekday for half the time I’ve been alive. That might sound a little odd, to say that television stars we never meet can be a part of our lives, but think about it: Five days a week, for years on end. What other parts of your life are that frequent, that consistent? I’ve watched stars like Joshua Morrow and Sharon Case go from their 20s to near their 40s. Christel Khalil began her role as Lily Winters when she was 14 years old. We literally watched her grow up. A viewer cannot help but feel a connection when it devotes 39 minutes to them day after day, year after year. Soaps will need new viewers to stick with the show often enough and long enough for that connection to take root in them the way it has for so many of us for generations.

And through it all, there was Jeanne Cooper. Not young, still restless, forever the dame of daytime television.

I hadn’t tried Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow foundation (£25.50) until I worked for the brand, and I honestly don’t think I would go back to another foundation. The shade “Honey” is an excellent match for my face, I apply with my finger tips during the day, two pumps is plenty for an entire face application. It is really build-able, three pumps give a fuller coverage, but I am a light/medium coverage kinda girl.

My next step is Fakeup (£18.50) – this handy little hydrating concealer is my new skin saviour! Late nights and early mornings are the culprits, leaving nasty dark circles under my baby blues. A quick sweep of Fakeup below each eye, blended with my ring finder and I look like I’ve had my full 12 hours beauty rest!

I set my base with Hello Flawless (£25.50) pressed powder foundation, this can be used on its own as a foundation but I like to use it on top of my liquid foundation and concealer to make them last a bit longer.

To add some colour to my cheeks I apply Fine-One-One (£23.50) to the apple of my cheek up to my temple and blend. (full review here)  Fine-One-One has a highlight, blush and contour shade all in one! This saves me sooo  much time in the mornings! Swipe, blend and I am ready to go!

Moving onto my eyebrows, the frame of my face I can’t live without Brow-zings (£23.50) I was once guilty of over plucking my precious brows, I now aspire to nice full eyebrows! I fill me eyebrows with the wax & shadow, it doesn’t take more than 2 minutes in the morning and lasts all day.

Benefit recently introduced their handy World Famous Neutral (£23.50) eyeshadow palettes, the one I use on a daily bases is the Most Glamorous Neutral, an obvious choice for me! The kit contains two creaseless cream eyeshadows and 4 longwear powder shadows. I have created countless combinations with these colours, but the kit also comes with two handy tutorials. I use a touch of Badgal waterproof liner (£15) on my top lash line and smudge with my ring finger, finishing off with two coats of They’re Real mascara (£19.50) for the long lashes we all desire.

Not to leave me lips out, my fave gloss is the Ultra Plush Sugarbomb (£14.50), its not sticky or slimey, I love the shade it is is long wearing. I might reapply two or three times a day.
