Yes Baba Ramdev is Fake Baba and so are we.

Lately been reading in headlines that ,Baba Ramdev is fake baba. I kind of agree with, baba being fake. But he started a movement and a revolution. People started to talk about Yoga. People started doing Yoga. My father,learned yoga with Baba Ramdev early morning five clock . And also started drinking juice of bottle gourd ,which is rich in Iron and helps in reducing chances of heart attack. Baba , corporates and nations , each one of them have an agenda.For corporates its the bottomline , for nations ,its about having a bigger say in geo-politics and for Baba ,it was and is to share certain basic facts of yoga and life, practice ,cherish and share.Why is Baba fake? is it because he has build a mammoth business empire worth of Rs 1100 crs . Would baba ,had been still fake ,if he had not had created his empire .There are baba’s who have left behind thousands of crores and they are considered equal to God or God ,himself/herself. Simply because they were confined to business of God and did not intent to be a rebel and try to stir up the society and the nation as a whole. Each one of us have an agenda. Be it the communist ,who are no more relevant to the society ,but do still exist and so does their ideology.Without an ideology , we will never be able to identify ourselves with others. To conclude Baba is a fake ,but what about the political parties and their manifestos and the issues on which they win election and do nothing about the issues?What about each one of us ,who may hate our jobs and or bosses but still work with same organization or bosses? What about those women ,who fake orgasms? Atleast , among all the fakes ( that is us) Baba is a Karma yogi. We may or may not agree with Baba’s way of functioning , we may not be sure that the motives of Baba are political. But we need a rebel and a revolution.

Uprooting ,corruption in the country is in the swing. first with Anna Hazzar and now with Baba Ramdev going on a fast from June 4 2011. The news channel coverage is quite interesting. The senior ministers from cabinet ,meeting Baba Ramdev and convince him not to sit on fast.Baba flew to Delhi in a private plane to see the preparations. And the ground has the capacity to hold atleast fifty thousand people , as I understand from news channel reports. So the question is who is funding the whole event? And who is going to gain out of this Satyagraha ? The government is being dragged into one scam to another ,starting from CWG to Adarsh land scam to 2 G scam . Though Baba ,has raised a very important question of bringing back the black money stashed overseas.Both Major political parties are quite Congress I and BJP . The politicians or Political parties are involving in malpractices is one big question to understand . The election commission say a candidate can spend Rs 10 lakhs to campaign,but the fact is the cap may be just say hypothetically between 0.1%-1% of total amount shelled out to win an election. The candidates may get tickets at regional level on basis of bank balances and not due to competencies . So the funding of expenses of parties at regional is not hampered. Possibly Reddy brothers from Karnataka can be a similar example , irrespective of there competencies to be good people’s representatives.What is most important is to make the donations to political parties legit and bringing transparency in the whole process and the political parties filing tax returns and so should the religious organization do. We been seeing the so called religious gurus ,converting black money into white .As long as the comman man is tricked by politicians by subsidies ( which ,may not reach him ) or the freebies as distributed by DMK ruled government in T.N. and so has the new government of Jayalaithaa has promised. The Fiscal deficit of the state is suppose to Rs 13,507 crores in 2011/12. Which is nothing but a dent on the taxpayers pocket.And where does the big sum of money flaunted into.? Of course the corporates. The corporates are in rat race to get a bigger pie of the market and serve the purpose of the shareholders , irrespective weather they like it or not. The bigger question isn’t who is corrupt but who is corrupting ? The biggest problem is people and the media don’t track a politician by his work track record but by his/her political speeches to the bookhi and naagi jaanta ( Hungry and naked people) from heartland. The politicians should be elected on only basis of there agendas and outcome at the end of the tenure. The religion based politics has not helped anybody’s cause.To conclude lastly , Madam and PM will have a few sleep less nights .And the center of attention will be Baba Ramdev . Many more news will break .Some one’s loss is some one’s gain. Who will gain is something worth to wait and watch.

Seeing today’s morning newspaper with headlines He’s Gone, But Are we Safe? And then I saw a video of President Obama ,addressing USA and world formally announcing the killing of Osama Bill Laden.The war in Afghan cost US about $1 trillion dollars ,6000 dead soldiers and about 55000 injured soldiers while not taking into consideration of innocent civilians deaths. Well thanx Mr.Obma and team USA to put down the deadliest terrorist , the late Osama. Who made Osama ? Who supported him? Obviously none other then USA. And why did Osama turn back on USA, when USA put up their defence bases in Saudi. If we look closing it was never terror . The war was fought for resources. Be it the death of Saddam Hussain or Osama ,they were just distraction strategy adopted by US. Government. Giving US Government a legit reason to enter those foreign lands and establish there bases and also gain access and control over the untapped resources essential for USA. According to an article Afghan is having untapped minerals worth $ 1 trillion dollars and where as Iraq it is the second biggest and largest unexplored oil ( Petroleum ) fields in world. The whole circle of the war is to get rid of pilled up ammunition, get some exposure to the defense forces , give more order to arms manufacturers and at last have control over critical resources like oil and minerals ,which can make or break an economy. The reserves available in Alaska in USA are biggest then the oil resources in Middle east ,which may be still be remain untouched and one can understand why? In the movie spider-man , spider-man ,killed the villain Green Goblin ( Norman Osbon). And in spider-man 2 . The son of Norman Osbon ,funded Doctor Dr. Otto Octavius to kill Spider-man. And in context of killing of Osama . There are many who will fit in shoes of Son of Norman Osbon, Harry Osbon ,who will and who shall fund many more Dr.Otto Octavius in coming years. An columnist ,wrote an article titled “ Life Won’t Be Any Different Post Osama” in today’s ET. Which is the fact. Anyways Congrats Mr.Obama and Team USA , you have definitely won some brownie points here.

*Writing without an agenda may or may not be a good exercise. Specially if every bit of writing is agenda less like mine at this point of time. Why writing or what makes us write is critical. It takes sheer time and patience to write. I felt strongly that writing is one thing I can pick and then take it to next level. Then there arises issues , infact very critical issues , what do I write about ? I felt though I spoke decent english and write reasonably ,but I felt and know that there is a vacuum. In terms of vocab , in terms of expressing the emotions ,particularly when we try writing fiction. And writing non-fiction seems much easier and comes easily there is a flow of words ,which is the key to the aspect of writing I suppose. Non-fiction is more based on observations ,on references and on thoughts by and large. I did like to try to write essay. The only things, which bothers me is to get more technically sound. I am afraid ,while trying to get technically sound or grammatically wise , the drive or urge may not be of the same intensity. Writing on MS word and writing on wordpress platform are quite different. The mind set are quite different in both the cases. I am not quite sure why it happens so. Possibly there is more of introspection or thinking happening while writing or typing on MS word then on a blog platform. The art of writing or debate or arts will always be confined to very few . The reason is we don’t understand the significance of “Expression”. Yes we all genuinely believe we express ourselves. But the expression we are upto is either our angst or frustration or by and large the dissatisfaction . And most of the talking happens just like that and the consequences can swing either side. But when one writes there are better chances of avoiding the same unless it is intentional to hurt or demark someone. Reading and writing or other way around go hand in hand. I love to read and possibly that is what makes me write as well. Now the issue to tackle is to get organized as a writer , to know and understand what I am good at and how can I explore the same. Yes non-fiction it is for me and need to foucs on the same. We should read because there are experiences from others lifes and we can’t afford to make all mistakes and correct them. And we write because we experience.

Being on fast and making more laws is no out of box thinking for problem of corruption.Lets ask some questions to understand why corruption exist?

1.Why people indulge in unfair practices?

2. What leads people to indulge and encourage corruption?

3. Why individuals choose Money over Values and Conscious?

4.What is the parameter and definition of success in a society?

Since evolving to be one of the biggest consumeristic and individualistic society ,where I comes before us.where possession comes before ethos.This is just the beginning.A financial planner wrote it is not about the dal and roti . It is about lifestyle, which is creating chaos.

So , welcome to era of corruption . The last but not the least question , Can wisdom win over irrationality.

THE FINAL THREE WISHES OF ALEXANDER ,THE GREAT.

There is very instructive incident involving the life of Alexander, the great Macedonian king. Alexander, after conquering many kingdoms, was returning home. On the way, he fell ill and it took him to his death bed. With death staring him in his face, Alexander realized how his conquests, his great army, his sharp sword and all his wealth were of no consequence.

He now longed to reach home to see his mother’s face and bid her his last adieu. But, he had to accept the fact that his sinking health would not permit him to reach his distant homeland. So, the mighty conqueror lay prostrate and pale, helplessly waiting to breathe his last. He called his generals and said, “I will depart from this world soon, I have three wishes, please carry them out without fail.” With tears flowing down their cheeks, the generals agreed to abide by their king’s last wishes.

“My first desire is that,” said Alexander, “My physicians alone must carry my coffin.” After a pause, he continued, “Secondly, I desire that when my coffin is being carried to the grave, the path leading to the graveyard be strewn with gold, silver and precious stones which I have collected in my treasury.

“The king felt exhausted after saying this. He took a minute’s rest and continued. “My third and last wish is that both my hands be kept dangling out of my coffin.”The people who had gathered there wondered at the king’s strange wishes. But no one dare bring the question to their lips.

Alexander’s favorite general kissed his hand and pressed them to his heart. “O king, we assure you that your wishes will all be fulfilled. But tell us why do you make such strange wishes?”

At this Alexander took a deep breath and said: “I would like the world to know of the three lessons I have just learnt. I want my physicians to carry my coffin because people should realize that no doctor can really cure any body. They are powerless and cannot save a person from the clutches of death. So let not people take life for granted.

The second wish of strewing gold, silver and other riches on the way to the graveyard is to tell People that not even a fraction of gold will come with me. I spent all my life earning riches but cannot take anything with me. Let people realize that it is a sheer waste of time to chase wealth.

And about my third wish of having my hands dangling out of the coffin, I wish people to know that I came empty handed into this world and empty handed I go out of this world.”

Alexander’s last words: “Bury my body, do not build any monument, keep my hands outside so that the world knows the person who won the world had nothing in his hands when dying“.

With these words, the king closed his eyes. Soon he let death conquer him and breathed his last.

God does exist or not is a topic for debate between two set of people . One who believe only in evidence and others who have a gut feeling about the GOD’s existence. As the buddha says take the middle path always. My take on GOD is , he does and he does not exist as well. I am not sure , I am confused. In desperate times we do fall back on GOD , infact GODS . During our exams , irrespective weather we have studied or not. The scene from 3 idoits , where one student was offering milk to snake. The other guy in the shower praying let me pass this exam and I will stop teasing a girl.The mothers and wives of Indian cricketers can tell you on whom they relied more on the GOD or talent and skills of there children or husbands,who recently clinched the World Cup.A politican may not have delivered the goods in his previous tenure as a MP or MLA ,but once the elections are in air , the politicans line up at all sorts of temple and doing all of pujas and yagnas to please the Almighty ( Not Forgan Freeman or Jim Carry).As we know or believe that God is Omnipresent including on the web as well, which is a recent phenomenon. Of course the pujaris ,the swamis ( who have followers with non-disclosure agreements) who are minting/milking money on the Goodwill of God. We Indians ( urban) are almost civilized beast , but sometimes desperate times need desperate measure. A Consultancy near to my home , had its own issues of stinking urine pissed on its wall. And guess what , they did not rely on the CCTV or paste / paint on the wall ,stating stop passing urine you morons in more diplomatic way or use there gurads ,who sit at the entrace on the gate.Yes they did fallback very much on GOD infact GODs. The consultancy got the wall painted for what reason I am sure and there came the superblow to escape from meance of stinking smell. The tiles of various GODs were put up. It was pure genius instinct.This is what is called as customization . Customization of GOD or GODs.The tiles which are used in the pujaroom of houses found place on the walls to get rid of rascals .Now the question is Who else needs God and what is the next customization?

I did like to wish to each one of you a very happy valentines day. Though I wonder . As it is routine to visit stores on the weekend . I was Visiting Garuda Mall on saturday ( 12.2.11) , I saw Tanishq with offering for Valentines day. I had a glance about 10-15 designs of Ear pendants for Rs 999/- . Today I happen to be in Mast Kalandar , for my lunch . The shop was decorated with heart shape balloons . And also each table had a small candle lit. There was also a special combo called Valentine day combo as well.I was reading in ET , there were offering from restaurants to finest hotel. A offering had a price tag of Rs l lakh. A small price tag to express love , I suppose. Today morning I was reading an article and the title was “ Cosmetic surgery, the perfect Valentine’s day gift” And the surgeries available in the menu were1. Check bone treatment -50k-60k 2. Lip fillers treatment-20k-30k 3.Botox injection-5k–10k . Anything for love.And mostly women underwent these procedures. When women take such a brave stands , why should not we men also consider ? Though I doubt , would it still be considered cosmetic surgery. Last but not least Size does matter. You perverts. I meant of the heart.

Every end is a beginning.

They were with her, but she never bothered to read them.And all she had was stylish clothes the coolest watches , numerous new pair of sandals , loyatly cards and credit cards.

They were friends as everyone knew. But there was a different tune in his mind.He did like to hang out as much as possible with her .And just listened to her on the most of the occasions. It was talk about the new cool pair of jeans on sale. The new movie playing in the theaters. He was not sure , what was it ? Her face, her smile, her beautiful eyes. He thought , he could spend rest of his life by watching those eyes. He was not sure if she knew or felt something for him too. He cared for her. She had her set of friends with whom she did hangout on most of the occasions.She was good at studies .Was quite popular as well.Neither of them remember ,how did they happen to be friends. One day they happen to catch up .And they thought hard but neither of them had clue. And had a laughter . And sipped the cold coffee.Lately he realized he had started to loose himself.He start to repeat the sentences she spoke to him. While looking in the mirror.Mean while he happened to get opportunities one after another ,where it was just two of them. And it was the shopping spree for her, sales here , sales there. 50% , buy one get one free ,kept her on toes. Swiping the credit cards , carrying the bags .There were no conversations, but just two exhausted people.Lately he started to see her love for things. His cupboard had dresses ,which could be counted on fingers.In last few days , he happen to know more about brands, offers and there prices .Which was something he was never interested in. He was just very much himself.He knew ,himself .He had instincts and went after them.He was not poet but was turning out to be one.And days went by. On the corner was Valentines day.Lately to him every meet was a moment and which he kept capturing in the possible words he could.And finally the day came as it suppose to come. Valentines day.Every other boy was buying gifts, chocolates, roses and every other possible thing one could think off .It was not roses for him. He did even forget that roses is part of the tradition.Mean while it was roses , gifts showering on her.He did not bother much about them.And with a smile ,which did not last long either , said to her I have something for you.And handed her, the letters , in the car parking ,which would be the last place on the earth . Those letters were forgotten to be opened. After all they were just few bits of paper .A few gifts made her muse, a few did disappoint her and the roses were in the dustbin.It had been a while since they had seen each other.He felt the ache. It was of course the mildest one.And as days went by ,he could not even visualize her face. And lately ,he was very much himself.And there was no more a poet alive in him. Just him and his new cubicle of his new job.She also started off with a job in one of the companies . Accidentally,she happens to see him one day , calls his name loud on the road. He saw her , being hanging out of the bus , smiled and waved his hands and disappeared in a minute or two in the traffic.She felt quite strange and few of the moments in her mind came live. And few more months pass by. During one of the lunch breaks , she happen to hear a remark about her, that she is mannequin of the malls.On the way back to home from office, she kept thinking over and over again about the remark “mannequin of mall” and it was turning out to be the longest drives ever .She went into her room and looked round there were clothes everywhere, fashion magazines ,discount coupons , perfumes and few old mobile phones ,which she used no more.She was in tears.And there was sought of rage in her. And she started to tear the fashion magazines, the invitations for the parties as if she felt she was sort of mannequin.And from no where in her hands were the letters along with heap of bills , invitations. The first three letters were already torn to bits and the last one was almost torn to pieces accept a portion ,which could still be read.That night and the next day were the hours making her mad. She was again on the same road during the same time hoping to meet him today as well. It was one of those moments as if she had been waiting for the same for too long. The car was in service and the taxi in which she was traveling the other day broke down. And she had to get down on the same road , where she spotted him.And there he was , she saw him. And tears rolled down her eyes.He was quite surprised to see her and tears in her eyes made him puzzle. And when he asked her , what she was doing here and in reply all he got was a slap. The couple of lines with his signature with love read ” My love is not a commodity and it is priceless.”

PIRACY :- EXIST FOR A REASON.

It is not a new sight to see people selling pirated music and films. one can be amazed , a movie which was released on friday is available with the hawker. There are numerous reason for piracy to survive and thrive.

1.In my home town Jodhpur , a few years back , if one had to see a English movie, one had no other choice but to rely on the video shops ,renting movies (pirated) . Though a few English movies exhibited in theaters were dubbed in Hindi.

2.Recently a Hindi movie called Baand Baja Bharat , was released. On a week off day , like this one (Thursday). I wanted to see the movie and cost (which I checked on website of multiplex) was Rs 500 per ticket.The multiplex uses differential pricing. And if one wants to munch something then it will cost another Rs 120 or so. The tickets are priced differently depending on the time of the show. So if a family of 3-4 wants to watch a new movie , then one may need to spend anywhere from Rs 1000-2500 approx.

3.The shelf life of music specially of movies is having the most shortest span ( particularly , Hindi music,of which I am aware to an extent) A music cd , will cost about Rs 170 or so. And to our surprise or disappointment a track or two are the best and rest of the stuff is either ok or just forgettable.

4. The sales of music is also getting affected largely because now the way of listening has changed . It is either digital( laptops , desktops) or music on ipods /mobile phones .

5.piracy exist because the producers of movie ( I can say so about Hindi movies) spend millions of Rs on lavish sets, costumes, item nos ( Munni Badnam huvi darling tera liya) foreign shooting and over priced stars and to find the movie didn’t had a story at all .Recently I happen to see a 3rd in series of a famous franchise in Hindi movie, which was suppose to be a comdey but fact is it was quite boring, lousy .And that movie was declared a Hit.The last movie I remember with a good story was Rocket Singh.

6.piracy is here to rule. In era of multiplex , the audience is a niche segment.More over a movie even before it is released books profits by selling music rights, television rights, overseas release rights, release rights in local market, product placements in movies and lastly the movie rights on DVDs, VCDs format.To a producer may be his movie is a product and on which he has booked his profits.

7.Recently 3 idiots ( Hindi movie) was released on DVD . And the collectors edition was only launched with price tag of Rs 550/600. And at the same time the movie was also been shown by one of the cable channel.Then the movie was released on regular edition with price tag of Rs 300 or so.While the original release took a few months and the hawkers were selling the same from next few days of release of movie.

Lastly as a nation, we have not understood the concept of the INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY , including myself.To us the movies are nothing but a lousy way of entertainment with some Naach, Gaana , todha dekha , todha sarmana.And the regular bolloywood stuff.

CHENNAI , I NEVER KNEW ABOUT.

Reached , today morning around 6 am to BANGALORE from CHENNAI . And this time opted for a Sleeper bus instead of a semi-sleeper. It is another thing that I needed to put brakes on my bladder . Until the driver thought of having tea around 4 am. My aunt ( father’s elder sister ) use to live in CHENNAI , in 90′s , we did visited them a couple of times on Rakhi . Well the CHENNAI , I never knew , is something to do with the stories about the stubborn chennaites not preferring to speaking any other language then Tamil.

1. The lodge, where I put up , a elderly person spoke good Hindi.

2. The hotel , where I had my breakfast and lunch , also spoke Hindi , pretty well.

3. The travel agency , where I booked my tickets, as well spoke Hindi.

The most striking thing is I never spoke to either them in Hindi. As if it was written on my forehead , that I am Hindi speaking lad.

On my last visit to CHENNAI , which was a few days back. I happen to Watch Hindi movie Band Baaja Bharat, a good number of people were the Tamil Speaking audience.

And to my surprise all the guards at the EXPRESS AVENUE are from eastern part of India, who communicate by and large in Hindi only. In food court of EXPRESS AVENUE , a tamil speaking guy has taken up the franchise of RAJDHANI ( a resturant) which serves Thali ( north indian ).And the Manager ( a Tamilian ) spoke good Hindi.

Its high time to correct our notions to an extent about CHENNAI. For whatever reasons , be it for sake of commerce, be it for cost or be it an effort to blend .

Atleast from my perspective CHENNAI and CHENNAITIES are changing.

Note:- Our customer service associate ( a couple of them) know to speak Hindi . And attain the Hindi customers ,who are looking for a new mobile handsets.

Idiot Box and Talk shows.

I exactly don’t remember ,when I started watching the talk shows.Oprah’s show was quite popular one on the cable. I didn’t enjoy it much. Expect for one episode where she gave away a brand new car to every audience seated in that episode.I happen to be watching ” The Larry Sanders show“ a sitcom,aired in US from 1992-1998 on HBO,staring Garry Shandling . And it is quite good . I thoroughly enjoy it.Couple of days back ,heard about Larry King did bid adieu ( talk show Larry King live on CNN) .Larry , with 25 years and 50,000 guest , cool record. I have seen a few of episodes on CNN.It is very different one from Jay Leno‘s show NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.And that of David Letterman‘s show Late Show with David Letterman on CBS.

In mid 2000′s Shekar suman started off talk shows on same lines of those of Jay Leno and David Letterman and was quite good.Back then I suppose we as an audience must not have understood what exactly talk shows are about. Now I don’t know off and think there are any talk shows with same punch as that of Shekar. I use to watch that show on daily basis.

Most of the talk shows are more political like , The Devil’s Advocate by Karan Thapar on IBN CNN . I think , it is time we Indian’s should have atleast a couple of talk shows of our own. And for God sake that would be least thing on the tele with the unwanted Melodrama of daily soaps.

The Monologues are the life of the talk shows and the content is quite fresh and not mundane like the daily soaps , which is been churned day in and day out , old wine in bottle and to add to them the reality shows with lot of melodrama is the last thing to be watched on the tele.

There is another show on IBN CNN called The Week that wasn’t by Cyrus Broacha. Which is quite good.But I don’t think it can be termed as a talk show. Mock , to an extent yes. It is a good one. Haven’t seen one lately.

Last but not the least talk shows are good entertainers. Ekta are you listening? Mr. Shekar Suman, I think its time to make some money by being an host then just laughing. Don’t laugh at the talent you have.Time to make a come back?

Lifestyle means “A lifestyle is a characteristic bundle of behaviors that makes sense to both others and oneself in a given time and place, including social relations, consumption, entertainment, and dress. The behaviors and practices within lifestyles are a mixture of habits, conventional ways of doing things, and reasoned actions.”

I have come back to Bangalore after a span of about twelve years , which been my home for about fifteen or so years. The city has changed immensely .One can see more Coffee Cafe Day outlets , ( according to wikipeida, there are six outlets in a 2 km (1 mi) radius and over 140 cafes in Bangalore alone ) then the huts ( not literally) and now Dominos and Pizza hut ,pooping up every where besides the malls. But the fact is the city is very much the same , it is the people who have changed.

Today evening it just started to drizzle and wanted to get back home without being drenched further. I just stopped an auto. The autodriver , asked for Rs30 , the minimal fare will be Rs 20. After my persuasion, he agreed for minimal fair. And another passenger also hopped in along , who spoke in Hindi and autodriver , demanded Rs 40( for his destination) and no further bargin . The auto driver commented ” I am charging you Rs 20 becuase you are speaking Kannada” .Another strange instance happened today,while traveling by bus as usual from Majestic , a Hindi speaking chap was kicked by leg by one of the fellow passenger , for what reasons I am not sure . The chap sweared the best he could. While,” The autodriver also claimed there is hardly any people,who speak kannada, anymore in Kormangala “( the area ,where I reside)

Is Bangalore city in state of chaos , a silent , very silent one. Is there a time bomb ticking somewhere .

Since I happen to see a glimpse of cricket match somewhere , so I decided to drop in a coffee shop near by and watch the match ,while sipping some hot coffee ,since I was a bit drenched. Next to my table , there were two guys and a girl seated. And they were conversing in English.The girl said to them ” I don’t flirt with him, but I flirt with all other men” And has the match progressed , so did there conversation , then the girl said ” He thinks I don’t smoke , but I do”.And as India got close to winning the match , the girl asked for the cigarette lighted it , had a puff or two .

Yes , Bangalore has entered , very much in era of Pantyhose/stockings and shorts ( which are shorter then my underpants/boxers). So what exactly are we talking about ? A word came to my mind “lifestyle” And how can one not see girls wearing certain tops and one side of there strap been lowered then usual?

It was sunday, last sunday , since I visit our store in Brigade road ,once in while . I was on my way to the store , a bunch of guys were standing outside a store on the pavement and they said ” firstly they ( girls) wear revealing clothes and try to cover the same” and laughed.

Guys , what are we upto as a whole , as a society? I don’t know why all these events occurred on the same day? A girl kissed a guy on his cheeks in one of the mall I visited today.We are falling for PDA , are we.

Bangalore is truly a cosmopolitan city and has welcomed everyone .Have we embarrassed the city in the same true spirit ( not exaclty one which Mr.Mallya offers) is a question we need to ask.

There are numerous people from different parts of country and speaking different languages . Most of people , specially ,who work in specific sectors of industry and to acquire professional degrees , who may / may not be belonging to three tire kind of cities and really want to enjoy (there so called freedom) with ofcourse disposable incomes at there end, need to understand there acts do have an impact and since imitation is the easiest form of learning ,after all.

Yes , we have every right to live our lifes , the way we want . But not at expenses of hurting the sentiments and spirit of a city. Lastly we need to mingle with people , with culture of the city and blend and gel with point of views as well.

In 90′s, a family from some part of India landed in Bangalore . And the children , were not comfortable mingling with local-ides , for whatever reasons. I heard sometime back , the daughter of same family got married to a local guy.

A cousin of mine back in 90′s was in Bangalore for his internship during engineering . He and his friends learned a few words in kannada , which meant ” I don’t know kannada” , and that sentence bought a smile on the faces of bus conductors often.

If one can not embrace us as a whole , the city , people and the language and if one does not identify oneself with the rest , then at least be humble.

These days Tata sky has aired few new adds. I have seen couple of them . 1. Where amir is a Milk man and the other where he is a salesman. There are too good. And quite entertaining. It is quite amazing to express the message ,while also being creative and humors, its one of the toughest job. Hats off to admakers! The concept are called “Truchoice” and ‘subscription holiday’ service

After playing a cantankerous elderly Sikh man and a newly wed bride and groom in previous Tata Sky commercials, Aamir Khan has now donned the guise of a milkman in the latest brand campaign.

In the commercial, Khan is surprised when he gets only half a month’s payment from a customer for the milk. When the customer explains it’s because the family were away on holiday for the other half of the month, Khan gets his entire payment out by insisting the cow gave milk for the entire month. He overrides the man’s protests and even manages to get an additional day’s money by reminding the customer the previous month had 31 days. The ad ends with the voiceover telling the viewer not to give money when they go on holiday to the milkman or even to Tata Sky thanks to a new ‘subscription holiday’ service by the company.

Anup Chitnis, executive creative director of Ogilvy & Mather, said of the new character for Khan, “We’re always looking for Aamir to play interesting roles. In the case of this TVC and the one for the Sardaar, inspite of being the brand ambassador, he doesn’t play the protagonist. The idea was just ‘Jabardasti ho raha hai’ [it’s happening by force] if you go on a holiday and get charged by the milkman or newspaperman.”

Back home there is a book in my cupboard ,in which I have been penning . And now I have a diary with me here. Piyush ,my younger brother ,was interested in reading comic books and other children magazines. I suppose ,while being in class 8th or 9th , we started reading a childrens magazine called “wisdom”, which is still in circulation. The content of that magazine is and was amazing, but what got me hooked to it was the quotes on each page. On the bottom of the page ,there were quotes. And I don’t ever remember why and how I started penning them. And I still do the same ofcourse , I don’t buy the magazine anymore ,thanx to interent. Now there are few e-mails in my inbox ,which have quotes in them. I think ,who I am is largely is due to those quotes ,which I have penned and glanced . These quotes have been my energy boosters. Those numerous quotes are my mentors. I don’t know ,if those quotes were never invented and penned ,what would have been my state. And some of my favourite quotes are

Every morning when I get up , I have a toughest question to answer. What is purpose of my life? I have just joined the group of office goers and in the short span , I have started asking what is the point of making a living. I have no clue. Yes we go to school to college to office to marriage to children and finally to grave. That is the cycle , which everyone has to go partially in the same order until one hoops to grave .What is that one thing which gives meaning to all these things ? I am puzzled. Are we suppose to chase our dreams . What are we suppose to do? I feel the vaccum in myself. I just thought and felt , I must have stopped learning. So now I learn a few new words and few new tricks here and there .And the emptiness still lures.I pray , I read , I listen music and watch movies and I am still the same. Can somebody out there tell me or share how to make my life meaningful from meaningless.I hope atleast someone out there will have the same dilemma as mine. At times I am ok with this emptiness and sometime it kills me. I ask myself, why do I wake up in the morning ? or why the urge to write? Is there a button ,by which we could forward the reel called life and see how we fared in our lifes and then relive from this present moment.Am I getting too filmy.Finally the cruz , what are we suppose to do with our lifes? Awaiting for your reply.

On the way back to home from warehouse at Domlur on just the half way on left side of pavement a boy starts putting things into place. A table on which he palces a weighing machine , a box ,which has glasses three sides and one side is open. Firstly he warms the ghee in the frying pan by burning wood below in a cylindrical bhanti (oven ) .During winter season back home in jodhpur, specially on social occasion like weddings , a big pan in which milk is hoted and stirred for quite a good time with lot of saffron ( Kesar) until then the water content of the milk evaporates . And there after the milk is juggled from one jug to jug before being poured in a small cup made of mud ( Kulada) with pieces of sliced pistachio (Pista) not salted ,of course.There are certain sweets ,which are first fried and then are dipped into a thick sugar syrup , so the sweets just don’t be crunchy and crispy but sweet as well. To name a few Iimatri, Jalebi, Malpuva ,Ghevara and Mava Ki Kachori.The boy ,who we left at Domlur is from Rajasthan. I just forgot his name. Lapse of memory you see. He once offered a cup of tea and he insisted, the tea tasted good , masla tea is irresistible to turn down.Once the ghee is warm enough , he takes the dough in a cloth ,which is almost a 1 1/2 times of a handkerchief ,which is to withhold the dough and then he let the dough through the cloth in the pan in a circle motion at a time in different spots of the pan.And then uses a chimti ( ), to turn both the sides until the dough ,which is evolving into crispy and pinkish in colour.And when a whole batch of those dough in the pan is pinkish ,they take a swim in the pool of sugar syrup and here is the Jalabei ready. Hot , crispy and tasty.Now I will share the Math of Jalebi from a sweet shop point of view Jalebi = Dough +Ghee+ Sugar Syrup. The trick to make good margins is let the jalebi from pan to pool of sugar syrup is ,let it be immersed in the syrup for a quite a good time, once that is done . The lesser numbers of Jalebi will weigh , purely because the sugar syrup has more weight then the Jalebi itself. So back home during winters and the marriages of course , a counter is placed ,where on one side Jalebi is been made ( In different sizes and different sweetness) besides the milk counter on the other hand. A Jalebi ,which is less sweeter then the jalebi usually cost more. A sweet shop @ jodhpur charge about Rs 30-60 extra for a Kg for Jalebi being less sweeter.I prefer less sweeter.

I was quite amazed to find out Mr.Sanjay Leela isn’t just the Director but Music composer as well.The music is very situational and one can releate to songs ,once when we see on the screen alone.The songs are very much based on theme.I did still suggest to listen atleast three tracks.

I recently came across a line , I don’t remember where I did read it and line was ” MBA is about ethics” .It stuck me hard ,very hard in fact. Other day a classmate of ours started a group on google and we got a e-mail asking us what had we learnt in last six months since we passed out and now working in different organization and the responses were just the silly talk and nothing much.I have been recently been reading a book called “First things first by Stephen covey” .It is an amazing book. If we read the book one could understand the crux of the book was introspection and awareness. In B-school we were never thought what introspection is ? The direction of the institute did propose to introduce yoga to us but none of us were interested , yoga can be a good tool for awareness. The book emphasis on the value system and integrity .I happen to see the movie “Rocket singh” by Yash raj banner, the movie is one classic management movie. The movie should be watched, least discussed and mostly practised. Particularly I remember a scene where the protagonist says to the ex- employer ” You were always obsessed about numbers and concerned about numbers only but the fact is the when people who work with you are happy the numbers increase by themselves”. The protagonist says in another scene “Business is not a scheme or a crookedness but people and people alone “. The protagonist forms his own company called Rocket sales corporation with people of AYS ( there present organization) who were not given there due, the receptionist , the peon . And Rocket sales corporation soared to success because they were a ” Value driven ,quality driven and above all there were people driven ,who were treated and given all due credits “.In another scene ,where Rocket sales corporation accepts a big order for computers and the supplier of parts was small, one of the partner suggest to source the parts from elsewhere the Protagonist ( Ranbir Kapoor, Harpreet Singh Bedi) turns down the opinion and quotes the supplier was one who trusted and helped them to build the business by giving credit and when Rocket sales is growing , he will not just let the supplier be left out. You may say its fiction , its a movie . I will certainly agree with both the facts and they will remain the same until we practise them and build organizations like Rocket sales corporation of our own or atleast build a value system in the organization where we work. At last I did forget to mention you the protagonist in this movie was not an MBA and just passed his B.com with 38% or 36%.He was not jargon ,ego and attitude oriented ,he was just value oriented and people oriented.And “Integrity” was essence of their business.

RETAIL MAY BE DYING

Retail may be dying. The title is very much confined to things I have come across and experienced. Any one can tell the growth in retail industry is going through and the number of job it is creating is just amazing. I am part of the industry for last 5 months or so. I genuinely felt that the excitement is just missing. A friend of mine who has joined an organization and in three months of her tenure she is feed up with the work she is being doing. Once one understands the process , which one has to deal with then it is quite boring. It happens with me as well. Out of nowhere I did quote her an example of our mothers. For instance my mother is suppose to cook, clean , be the family PR and she is doing the same thing for last 25 years or so and still does same things in an impeccable way.Retail may be dying is because I see many more mannequins then the stores do have. I am talking about the CSAs ( customer service associates). They are the face of the organization , they create impression in minds of customers. In short they are our brand ambassadors . A vendor of ours ,with whom I happen to speak , he said “Retail is Detail” . And he is and was very true. Yes detail, who crafts those details, we do in our offices and the CSAs are one’s who execute the same. I have always felt that there is a vacuum . I have seen in most of the coffee cafe day outlets ,they are process driven company. And the execution is quite good to brilliant. The coffee outlets to Mc Donalds to pizza hut to Taco bell, they are purely process driven. Being a process driven is a feat in itself. The process driven company from inception evolve purely because they are Knowledge oriented and the companies consciously spend time , money and energy in facilitating the process of learning.If we look at the attrition rate in retail is because after a point of time a CSAs may choose to exit because there is no more value addition to him and to his knowledge. The HR practices and point of view is very very crucial in developing the intangible assets ( not mentioned in balance sheet) the “Employees” particularly the CSAs .Me being an alumni of a B-school was never imparted the so called soft skills. I have on day to day basis issues with tackling with people , what will be fate of those CSAs who may be 10th or 12 th class pass/fail . I know you will say the margins are like thin wafers , I absolutely agree in contrast to Pizza hut or coffee cafe day the margins may not be that high . Either a retailer can grow as a whole or a retailer can grow in terms of space it holds. It is important to understand issues , it is important to motivate the CSAs , it is important to think from there perspectives. It is important to be a CSA with a CSA often. Retail is here to bloom for another decade or so but will an organization bloom /flourish will depend on are we just profit centric organization or are we people centric, knowledge centric and profit centric organization. Either Retail may be dying or I am lying. What is your thought , do share?

In the evening on saturday I was going to my library to return and pick books. I just happen to see a queue . Wow! The association of queue to me in kerala was always with the liquor shops or say the queue at the ticket counter at the railway station or at best a theatre, now the multiples. Back before joining the course of PGDM at our school in DCSMAT,Trivandrum our admission officer to impress us said we would be having washing machines, but to our disappoint the buckets were the spin tub ( unless you soaked the clothes in the detergent) .The other campus at Vagamon did have washing machines , I am not sure about girls hostel, we stayed at the boys for couple of days when companies came to hire us with course in the last phase. And the entire washing was manual for us , from scrubbing ,rubbing to removing the soap from clothes to drying them as well. And few of us who were either lazy or didn’t knew how to iron the clothes, hostel watchmen who was suppose to guard the hostel got a an0thre stream of income by ironing clothes besides washing as well.I was even lazier of the lot, since my most of the clothes I bought from home while the course started was not pure cotton and it was mix of both (synthetic) and after washing and hanging them by using a hanger , there were not many wrinkles ,which could be denied or neglected, atleast I did until I bought Lenin shirts.In banglore I stay in Kormangala and there is a shop which takes your clothes in lot of Kgs . I happen to ask the guy on the counter a few days back ,how it works out. A Kg of clothes cost Rs 40 and on an average A kg of clothes can be around 4-8 max, unless you want to give your underpants as well. Lets say A kg of clothes is 6 ,so 40/6 is about 6.5 Rs per cloth after washing and ironing . Yes the queue I was talking about was people lined up to give there clothes to wash and iron. Amazing isn’t it. Yesterday night I did go to forum mall at Kormangala for what even I don’t remember, but I still don’t know and understand the concept of window shopping ,anyways there was a standy and it was all about the shoe cleaning , precisely it was about snickers. Wow ! clothes ,snickers and what should be next? Since saturday was week off , which is a rare incident I washed the wash basin in my room , which was not dirty but still I wanted it to be clean. And may be next week off or so I need to wash my snickers and yes its time to bring down the clothes from the terrace ,which I washed on saturday and make a ginger tea in my kettle( with milk ,ofcourse) and head to office by having breakfast on the way. I will have idli , how about you? Have a great day!

Today while brushing my teeths a word came to my mind “Money” . And here I am here infront of my lap typing this post.

Money has two sides like that of a coin . A positive and a negative side. There isn’t much to talk about the positive side of money because people who have made heck of money and use moeny as a tool to evolve as a individual and help others to evolve as well.

I am more interested in the Negative side of money . Negative side is nothing but the ego , the attitude and the arrogance and delusion which comes as the package .

Weather a person has money,no money will still leave under a roof with four corners , will still eat through mouth, breathe through the nose , wash the anus with hands ( faucet ) still use hands and kiss using a tonuge.

Who gives a damn about quality. The rich with (negative) attitude might wear brands , a common man will wear clothes. The rich might buy a luxury car a common man will buy a second car or a two wheeler. Looking at the traffic , the 45 lakh worth of car moves at pace of snail. I think I can reach faster by walking then by traveling in a four wheeler.

The point of being rich ( negatively) is to be as no one else . Eat through nose , see through mouth etc……………otherwise what is the point in being rich ( negatively) and what is the difference between a rich (negatively) and a common man.

The rich may eat Basmati rice and a common man ordinary rice and next morning it is nothing but human facet and which flushed down.

These days any one can walk in Mcdonalds to have a Burger for Rs 25 or Rs 30 . The customer service associates in my organization have better handsets like Blackberry and etc…. then me. Though those are second hand but still the brand like Nokia and model like E73 or E 72 ( if am correct) is what they possess.

I have seen a few customers ,who think they are the kings , the tone there voice, there body language makes the most sickest people on the earth. These people ” DERIVE THE POWER FROM THEIR POSITION RATHER THEN DERIVING THERE POWER AS A HUMAN BEING” Its seems they are people who have those invisible horns which they wear every day and every moment ,even while sitting on the commode ” I AM X OF Y COMPANY”.

Surplus money in the back account is the sign that one is lucky that one’s hard work and perseverance has paid off and he is lucky to be working with a team which has clicked collectively.

If you are rich ( negatively) then live under a roof with 5 corners, have a mobile phone implanted inside yourself, go to office by a flying car or dress differently may be like that singer , lady Gaga. You got to be different from us , in all your ways. That is only way you can differentiate yourself from us , otherwise there is no point you having money and exhibiting . At the end of the day you and common man will use tonuge for almost same purpose excluding the exceptions.

Lastly while being thirsty ,rich (negatively) and common man both drink plain water . For rich (negatively) it must be branded and a common man its just water.

Mr/Ms Rich (negatively) you call only break hearts with money you have but never mend hearts.

Life is about numerous moments and not only money (negative) alone.

Note:-Under ESOP the workers of SKS Micro Finance have become millionaires, after the company got listed (IPO). That is the money ( positive) . Me becoming one will take another decade . I am optimist. How about you?What would you like to be Money (positive) or Money ( negative) .
