By far my favorite news snippet of the day (from CNN. com): Push to make porn star a senator no stun

By far my favorite news snippet of the day (from CNN. com):

Push to make porn star a senator no stunt, fan says

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (CNN) – Fans of porn star Stormy Daniels are drafting her to run for the U.S. Senate seat in Louisiana now held by Republican Sen. David Vitter. And it’s no racy gimmick, they say.

Stormy is "best suited" to fulfill the senatorial duties, so says the DSc

The Draft Stormy Web site says that “2010 presents the Pelican State with the opportunity to start with a clean slate — to elect a representative that we can be proud of, who will work tirelessly, and who will challenge the status quo. We at the Draft Stormy campaign feel that Baton Rouge native Stormy Daniels is best suited to fulfill these duties.”

I realize that, lately, Washington has proven a bit underwhelming in the “representatives we can be proud of” category (President Obama notwithstanding, of course), but… I can’t help but think that the Draft Stormy campaigners are serious fans of hyperbole because, “will work tirelessly” I’ll definitely let slide, but “best suited”? really? OK, to be fair, let’s hear the DSc out:

The Draft Stormy campaign was started by New Orleans resident and Daniels fan Zack Hudson, who insists it’s for real. Daniels, 29, isn’t affiliated with a party but is embracing the idea of a possible candidacy. ”Originally, the focus wasn’t even about making me as a candidate,” Daniels said. “I think it was about bringing attention to the Senate race in general. Then the response was overwhelmingly positive. And I think everyone is just running with it.”

She said she’s planning a “listening tour” around Louisiana to talk about a range of matters, including the economy — which along with women in business and protection of children are the three issues listed on her Web site. When told Vitter can be a tough opponent, she said she’s “always up for a good fight. I think anyone that knows me … is more than aware of that,” Daniels said. “Politics can’t be any dirtier of a job than the one I am already in.”

Touché Stormy, touché. And I mean, hey, the whole “listening tour” thing seems like a nice learning experience for you — and might equate to more vetting than Sarah Palin had before she opened her big, unintelligent mouth in the public spotlight. So, who knows? It could totally work for you.

But the Draft Stormy campaign becomes even more entertaining when we consider the Republican senator whom she’ll be battling. Let’s learn a bit more about Senator Vitter:

Senator Vitter is very sorry

Vitter is famous — or infamous — for his link to the “D.C. Madam,” the woman who ran a prostitution ring. Elected to the Senate in 2004, he admitted to “a very serious sin in my past” in July 2007 after his phone number turned up in records of an escort service run by the late Deborah Jeane Palfrey, known as the D.C. Madam.

Running for re-election, Vitter said his wife has forgiven him and is banking on the same sentiment from his constituents. Will the Draft Stormy move mean stormy weather for Vitter?

The senator’s office didn’t return calls by CNN. But a spokesman for the state GOP said voters “are concerned with real issues that affect their everyday lives and not with political or publicity stunts.”

If the Daniels campaign is meant to remind voters of Vitter’s D.C. Madam link, the move could backfire. Clancy DuBos, political director of the New Orleans alternative newspaper Gambit, said Vitter is a brilliant politician with a campaign war chest worth $2 million.

“You are going to need someone better than a porn star, or a lap dancer, or a sex worker to nail David Vitter on this,” DuBos said. “You need a serious opponent who is himself, or herself, not guilty of something like that to say, ‘Let’s talk about family values, shall we?’ “

Low blow, DuBos. Family values, sheesh. Not everyone has a family for whom they establish values, duh. Way to be mean to the grass-roots girl with the pasties. As the DSc states:

“We eschew partisanship and labels, instead judging our leaders on their integrity, character and effectiveness.”

So there.

Dave Navarro is not Stormy's campaign manager, but that could be fun

Some good people in Louisiana are sick and tired of the same old politicians leading their state. Wh

Some good people in Louisiana are sick and tired of the same old politicians leading their state. Who can blame them? Louisiana ranks about last in most state categories and has never come close to recovering from Hurricane Katrina.

Enter Stormy Daniels. Stormy is a current porn star but, more importantly, she is a concerned member of her community. With the state overrun with corruption and incompetence, a group is petitioning Stormy to run for senator. They have even set up a “Draft Stormy” website.

If you are like me, you are probably thinking, “Is this some kind of joke?” Being slightly skeptical, I did a little bit of research. What I found was almost shocking. Besides the fact that she is apparently a wicked awesome porn star, she is also imminently qualified. Not only was she the editor of her high school newspaper but she was also president of her local 4H club. If that isn’t a set of quality qualifications, I don’t know what is. (Besides, it’s Louisiana for God’s sake. The bar is not exactly set high).

Here is a photo of the brilliant political superstar to be:

It is pretty obvious by just looking at her, she is the real deal. (Looks like this photo was maybe taken at the “Mammy Awards”?)

Unfortunately, if Stormy does get elected as senator, she will then be the hottest American politician of all time. I say unfortunate because my loyalty to Sarah Palin runs deep. But, c’mon, are you kidding me?

Stormy will soon be launching a “listening tour” around the state. I don’t know what that means but it might be porno talk. In any event, there is little doubt in my mind that if she puts her mouth where her money is, she can get as many votes as she wants.

Of course, if she were to make it to Capital Hill, there would no doubt be a serious a** kicking waiting for her in the ladies room by Hillary Clinton. Hill doesn’t take kindly to women that refuse to wear pants suits. Plus, let’s be honest, Bill is going to be all over the senate chambers looking for Stormy. Even the gay senators are probably going to start switch hitting.

Just think, in 2012 you could have the Sarah vs. Stormy presidential contest. The Barracuda against The Beaver…or something like that. There would no doubt be a record number of presidential debates that year. Some would probably take place in tubs of oil or chocolate pudding. In fact, they would likely all be pay per view events and we would all pony up the fifty bucks.

God’s speed Stormy. If you do become a senator, please do not allow Ted Kennedy, Robert Byrd, or Barbara Boxer to be in any of your movies…no matter how much they beg. The American people just couldn’t take it.

Just recently, a story hit the news about a D.C. MADAME that “threatened” a US senator, a deputy secretary of state, and the man who created the doctrine of “shock and awe.” And just how did this woman “threaten” these and other powerful men? She ran an escort service they used. Now, given the ignoramic double standard in this country—prostitutes go to jail and the johns go free—I have to cogitate very hard to understand in what way this woman was a threat. It was certainly in her best interests to keep the matter quiet, and as far as I can tell from the news coverage of the case, and as business sense would dictate, discretion would be an asset.

Now for some reason, this one was considered so dangerous, that despite the numerous other escort rings in the area, hers has been the only one prosecuted. And why? Supposedly, she was laundering money: a total of $2 million over 13 years. In an attempt to legitimize this courtroom theatre of the absurd, an IRS agent produced records of a lower than middle class lifestyle bought by this “high crime” Madame. Oh, please, give me a good production of Lysistrata any day!

And all of this supposedly required a full investigation into the sexual acts performed along with the release of 132 women’s names, some who hadn’t worked there for years, including being subjected to vituperative, fatuous questions demanding a need to know bodily-function-details such as, I kid you not, asked of a 63-year-old former escort by prosecutor Catherine Connelly, “Did you specifically discuss what happened when you went in the shower?”

The witness explained, “I was having sex.”

“What would happen if you were menstruating?” Connelly then asked.

A travesty of justice? A mockery of it? NO, that and a vilification of women.

X Does NOT Equal Y in this system:

These women, including a naval officer who worked there for only a few months and the now 63-year-old with a Ph.D. will lose their jobs, and according to most of the blogs I’ve seen, both men and women think they deserve it.

SEX….Euwww! Women having sex for money……….Euwww! And the men, or “johns,” including Senator Vitter, a GOP family values crusader, what happens to them? NOTHING. That’s right, nothing. No jail, NO names published, NO fines. Kinda warms the cockles of your heard, doesn’t it, to see the patriarchy in such great form protecting its own. But of course, we all know it’s the woman’s fault; she’s evil [Eve’s to blame]; men can’t help it; women ought to be pure. Or is it, how dare women have power over men; how dare men have to pay for sex; how dare women be able to decide what to do with their bodies when they are supposed to belong to men! I forget, is it the evil woman, sex is bad or the need to keep women in their place and control what they can and cannot do with their bodies or a mishmash of the two?

Gender inequality is an inescapable fact. I witnessed it firsthand only a few years ago as a teacher, as if the women’s movement had never taken place. My female students constantly worried about their looks, felt inadequate if they didn’t have a boyfriend, were made fun of by the males if they weren’t attractive, and were pressured by their peers to have sex to be cool, then labeled sluts, whores, bitches, tarts, teases, etc. And the boys, they bragged about having sex, were studs, operators, stud muffins, with not one bad word for one who slept around. While if a female tried to assert her own will, she was quickly cowed by being called a “feminazi.” In fact, none of them wanted to be associated with being a feminist—though they wanted all the rights from the fruits of the movement. Such a hatchet job the powers that be have done, once again, on women.

I could overwhelm you with stats that back up my assertions of discrimination women face, from studies done where the exact same paper got an A when signed by a male and a B or lower when signed with a female name to FBI Crime Statistics of 2003 where 63.2 in every 100,000 women were raped [and that’s only the reported ones] to the fact that we still do not receive equal pay for equal work. What I find most disturbing are the women who perpetrate 2nd class status onto their own daughters and other women, as in the treatment that Anita Hill received during Justice Thomas’ hearings; her information was not put on trial, but she most certainly was with such rabid emotional responses, giving immediate clues that a deeper issue has been triggered than innocence or guilt.

So let me leave you with what should be two troubling, thought provoking trends:

In India and China, where the status of females is at the level of about what it was in the 1800s here [remember, it took women over 100 years to get the vote and we didn’t get it until 1920; read about the political prisoners conveniently “lost” in women’s workhouses for protesting for the right to vote], 90% of known female fetuses are aborted or killed after they’re born, and in India, married women die in deliberate fires set by husbands rather than divorce and give back the dowry while the police look the other way.

In parenting books for Christians that have become quite popular, the advice given for parents of girls, honored for their ability to give birth and suckle the child, is to adamantly stress obedience, for they must learn to honor their fathers and then transfer that obedience to their husbands.

One last, but not to be overlooked nor forgotten, note; this “dangerous,” “powerful,” “threatening” Madame excoriated in our not so just justice system, committed suicide after her cold and wicked betrayal. For that is what it was, a betrayal. Legalize prostitution and regulate it, as is done in sane countries and parts of Nevada, and truly honor a woman’s right to control her body instead of giving the notion lip service. And please, spare me the moral outrage. Going out to dinner and a movie in which the man pays and then going to bed with him is prostitution. Negotiating the amount or time allotted for sex in a relationship is prostitution. Selling your body at a job every day IS prostitution. Capitalism is prostitution, and we’ve seen what unregulated capitalism looks like.

D.C. Madame, Ms. Deborah Jeane Palfrey, I promise I will not forget what you have suffered at the hands of an unjust society.

OK, I try not to talk too much politics. But the nomination of Sarah Palin as McCain’s running mate was the most brilliant move that campaign has made.

Why? Because she is qualified? Naaa…she seems to have about as much experience as Obama, and reportedly wasn’t even sure what a Vice President did.

Because she ain’t too hard on the eyes? Well, that never hurts. Though I think she looks like a cross between Megan Mullally and Deborah Jeane Palfrey. But, no, that’s not it either.

It’s brilliant because people are actually talking about his campaign now. It’s someone from the McCain camp who is on the cover of every tabloid and gossip rag. It’s McCain who is on the fingertips of bloggers across the country.

While Palin’s story would seem to make her an unlikely conservative candidate, it’s somewhat refreshing to see someone who isn’t as polished and fake running for office. Here we have a fairly young woman, who, if you do the math, was knocked up prior to her own wedding. Whose 17 year old daughter has found herself in a “family way” with a mullet-wearing good-ole-boy whose myspace page was littered with profanity. Who last week was alleged to have pulled a Bree VanDeKamp and pretended to be the mother of her own grandchild. Who, by her own admission, gave a speech halfway across the country and then flew home to Alaska while she was in labor.

I’m reminded of a line from the Birdcage: “THIS IS ENQUIRER HEAVEN!!” For over a year, no one has given a rat’s patoot what John McCain had to say. Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama haven’t been able to break wind without an analyst and two photographers present. Now, with the addition of the storied Palin, the interwebs are abuzz with half truths, outright lies, speculation, and rumor about McCain’s VP pick.

It was brilliant, I say. On the heels of his historical nomination, no one is even talking about Barack Obama this week.

Palfrey told former NSA official that call girls had picked up information concerning foreknowledge of attacks

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet
Monday, May 5, 2008

Former NSA analyst and Navy intelligence officer Wayne Madsen tells the The Alex Jones Show that one of the key motives behind the DC Madams murder may have been the information her call girls picked up from Washingtons top brass concerning foreknowledge and government complicity in the 9/11 attacks.’;

Former NSA analyst and Navy intelligence officer Wayne Madsen tells the The Alex Jones Show that one of the key motives behind the DC Madam’s murder may have been the information her call girls picked up from Washington’s top brass concerning foreknowledge and government complicity in the 9/11 attacks. Madsen also connected another suspicious death – that of former CIA agent Roland Carnaby who was gunned down by Houston police last week – to another individual who was involved in both the 9/11 cover-up and the D.C. Madam scandal, disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff. Noting that Palfrey and her defense team had tried to invoke the Classified Information Procedures Act in the U.S. District Court in Washington, which is only used when classified information or the names of people who are intelligence officers needs to be discussed, Madsen said Palfrey, “Had information which could have a bearing on the 9/11 attacks that some of her employees may have picked up information beforehand that would have been very useful to the 9/11 investigation.”

Madsen added that most of Palfrey’s call girls had been active around the area of McLean Virginia, which is where the CIA and other intelligence agencies are based and where Dick Cheney lived at the time. Host Alex Jones recalled that during interviews Palfrey had told him that her escort service was in fact being used as an intelligence operation to gather intelligence on individuals who used the service, particularly those connected to the military. Madsen, who spoke personally to Palfrey on numerous occasions, recalls one conversation at dinner about a month a go with Palfrey and her asset forfeiture lawyer where Palfrey told him, ‘I have information that would have been of great interest to the 9/11 Commission – there’s information that they have (her call girls) that would have been very important for the 9/11 Commission to know having to do with intelligence they picked up about 9/11 before it happened’. The former NSA official noted that some of Palfrey’s call girls were being chauffeured by Sherlington Limousines to poker parties attended by former CIA director and co-chair of the Joint 9/11 Intelligence Inquiry Porter Goss. One of the reasons cited for Goss’ abrupt resignation in May 2006 was his alleged involvement in a prostitution scandal where lobbyists were holding parties for GOP lawmakers that featured hookers and gambling at the Watergate Hotel in D.C. On the morning of 9/11, Goss was having breakfast with the head of Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) General Mahmoud Ahmad, the man who ordered a wire transfer of $100,000 to alleged lead hijacker Mohammed Atta.
Deborah Jeane Palfrey.

In addition, Madsen pointed out that Jack Abramoff, who was also connected to the DC Madam scandal, allowed at least two of the 9/11 hijackers to use one of his casino boats in the days before 9/11, and this is what Palfrey was probably referring to when she spoke about her call girls picking up information about 9/11 before it happened. “There’s the link, when you’ve got Abramoff and you had two of those hijackers on his casino boat a few days before 9/11 – I just wonder if that’s what Jeane was talking about,” said Madsen, “Because now I’m looking at this crazy incident in Houston with Roland Carnaby, a retired CIA guy who was still contracted to the CIA, being gunned down in broad daylight by the Houston police department – now I’ve been told by Agency sources in Houston that one of the people he was looking at was Abramhoff and the casino boats – so here you’ve got two people in the same week, looks like they were both assassinated in broad daylight,” he concluded. Many readers will recall that Newsweek reported that military brass in Washington received a warning the night before the 9/11 attacks which led to a September 11 flight being cancelled. “NEWSWEEK has learned that while U.S. intelligence received no specific warning, the state of alert had been high during the past two weeks, and a particularly urgent warning may have been received the night before the attacks, causing some top Pentagon brass to cancel a trip. Why that same information was not available to the 266 people who died aboard the four hijacked commercial aircraft may become a hot topic on the Hill,” according to the September 13 2001 issue. The connection to 9/11 is tantalizing and provides a key motive for why numerous power brokers would have wanted Palfrey to be shut up for good before she had the opportunity to release information in court that her call girls picked up about 9/11 pointing to foreknowledge and government complicity
in the attacks.

——————————

Senate Ethics Dismisses Vitter Complaint The Senate Ethics Committee informed Sen. David Vitter (R-L

Senate Ethics Dismisses Vitter Complaint

The Senate Ethics Committee informed Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) today that it was dismissing a complaint against him for his alleged patronage of a call-girl service that emerged from the so-called “D.C. Madam” scandal.

The letter explained that the panel was dismissing the matter because “the conduct at issue occurred before your Senate candidacy and service; as alleged, the conduct at issue did not result in your being charged criminally; as alleged, the conduct at issue did not involve use of public office or status for improper purposes.”

But the committee did add that its decision to dismiss the matter “should not be taken as personal approbation or acceptance by any of the Members of the Committee of the kind of conduct alleged in this matter. In fact, if proven to be true, the Members of the Committee would find the alleged conduct of solicitation of prostitution to be reprehensible.”

Vitter acknowledged “a very serious sin” in his past but has not given any further details about his behavior after his name surfaced in the investigation into the prositution ring run by Deborah Jeane Palfrey, who was convicted on multiple federal charges on April 15 and committed suicide last week.

During Palfrey’s trial, Vitter was on a list of potential witnesses submitted by Palfrey’s lawyer, but he was never called to testify.

Ahh… American justice at work. Provide a service Vitter used and paid well for and you end up dead.

Vitter?

What scandal?

There are corporations in America that employ illegal immigrants, which we often forget is totes ill

There are corporations in America that employ illegal immigrants, which we often forget is totes illegal, and aren’t prosecuted by the government. Other global corporations pollute our planet, abuse their workers, and force children to work in sweatshops. Far too many employers pay an unequal wage to women — thus making a profit right off the bat from gender discrimination.

So what do you think about Deborah Jeane Palfrey — the so-called DC Madam? You read about her in the papers, sí? She ran a corporation, so to speak, and made a living in the ‘escort service’ industry. Ms. Palfrey was tried and convicted of money laundering, using the mail for illegal purposes, and racketeering.

Deborah Jeane Palfrey’s Suicide Notes: Death Was My Only “Exit Strategy.” – Politics on The Huffington Post

Is it too political for me to speculate that Ms. Palfrey was convicted for having the audacity to trade in and profit from the commodity of sex? Is there no place for a discussion about work — and what some people really do for a living in America — on a blog about Human Resources?

I have some questions, Suckers. Let’s start with the basics.

Is prostitution a real crime?

Was Ms. Palfrey prosecuted and harshly sentenced based on her gender?

Was suicide her only way out?

Would the abolition of the income tax and the implementation of a consumption tax ensure that pimps and prostitutes pay their fare share of taxes?

Anyone have answers? I’d love to know what you think. (Personally, I think this is tragic and sickening. I heard the 911 call made by Ms. Palfrey’s mother and I thought, wow, a woman killed herself over a poor career choice — a career that’s in demand in the marketplace, no less. Sigh.)

An impending prison sentence wasn’t the only reason Deborah Jeane Palfrey, DC Madam extraordin

An impending prison sentence wasn’t the only reason Deborah Jeane Palfrey, DC Madam extraordinaire, hanged herself. Let’s just say that Deborah — or DJ as I called her — was a close friend of mine. Don’t jump to conclusions based on the picture the media is now painting. DJ was a bright, enterprising, beautiful and all-around wonderful lady. True, she was no stranger to the world of racketeering and prostitution. But who among us hasn’t broken some law? She saw a niche market, and she availed herself of it. Is that so wrong? Between the summer of 2005 and last month, DJ and I spent many romantic weekends sneaking around Georgetown, enjoying Early Bird Specials with her creepy mom in Florida and generally enjoying one another’s company. But DJ wanted something I couldn’t give her — something more stable, more traditional. Because in her heart of hearts, that’s what she was: stable. Traditional. My marriage, my job and my certainty that some day soon, the governor of New York would fall, prevented me from giving myself entirely. She deserved more, and I ended our relationship, albeit reluctantly. DJ didn’t take it well. The trial, the notoriety … it was too much for her. She couldn’t go back to prison, and she … couldn’t go back to anyone else, if you catch my drift. She was ruined. Do I blame myself? A little. But it feels good to confess. It really does.

The “D.C. Madam” left her mother and sister a suicide note before she took her life. De

The “D.C. Madam” left her mother and sister a suicide note before she took her life. Deborah Jeane Palfrey just couldn’t fathom going back to prison for what she had done. She felt that she was a victim of a “modern day lynching”. Please. This woman knows nothing of the sort. She is just one who the “system” has turned on. I can’t even say the system turned on her. She had her day. She made her money. Yeah, sure, maybe some of the big political movers and shakers were in her clientele group…you never know. Either way, they didn’t save her. They had to save themselves.

How one can pen a suicide note, as if that will leave the family with some “peace” about your selfish decision, is beyond me. If you have the mental capacity to sit down and write the note, then you have the same ability to get help for your suicidal thoughts or just to man up to your punishment. I don’t cut anyone a lick of slack for their belief that “there was no other option”. Please. Everyone is up against something at one point or another in their life. If suicide was the way out, everybody would take that route. It’s a way for quitters. It’s a method for losers.

I feel sorry for her mother and sister. I’m sure they don’t agree with your reasonings. Your reasons were real weak, if you ask me. Oops. You can’t ask me anything. You’re no longer here.

Oh well. Maybe if you come back as a cow, you can read this on moomoo.wordpress.com
