I originally got all riled up about the University of East Anglia email leak.  I don’t know what all the emails say, but when I sit back and think about it.  I have learned nothing new from the emails I have read.  Lindzen and Soon had been saying that stuff all along.  It comes down to this, the models are based on assumptions and the assumptions constantly change as new observations are made.  The modelling reports are not ashamed of this.  It is their method.  They use the word “correction” instead of “trick” in the official reports, but it is not hidden.

According to a 2004 investigation titled, “Increase of carbon cycle feedback with climate sensitivity: results from a coupled climate and carbon cycle model”, performed under contract W-7405-Eng-48 of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) it appears “corrections” to the models are made all the time when predictions don’t match observations.

Initial coupled simulations showed that when IBIS2 was coupled to the PCTM, precipitation biases typical of current climate models caused vegetation errors that, in turn, amplified precipitation biases in regions where surface–atmosphere moisture recycling is known to be important. This erroneous feedback resulted in unacceptable vegetation in some areas, particularly parts of the Amazon. To remedy this, a precipitation correction scheme was implemented…

In practice, the precipitation correction employed here is similar to the surface heat “flux corrections” used in early coupled ocean–atmosphere models. It would be better not to have to use it, but until model improvements obviate the need, a correction is required to generate a reasonable coupled control case. (Govindasamy 155)

There is no deceit or trickery.  When model predictions deviate from the desired results, the models are simply adjusted.  No big deal.  It is published that way, people just need to read and stop watching Glen Beck.  It takes some time to read through reports, but at least you come out with some understanding and grounding.

Another aspect of the emails was the supposed repression of “skeptic” articles and conclusions in IPCC reports and science journals.  So what?  That’s freedom baby.  You have a right to free speech, but you don’t have a right to printing presses, distributors or even a piece of paper and pencil.  There is nothing wrong with a magazine, newspaper, or web site that doesn’t want to publish an article or support an idea. Even if it is truthful article or idea, the owner has the freedom to print or not print anything it wants.  Granted who owns what surrounding IPCC stuff is very messy.  Anyway, Michael Mann put this point very well in a recent interview.

Scientists all choose journals in which we publish and we all recommend to each other and our students which journals they should publish in. People are free to publish wherever they can and are free to recommend some journals over others. For an example of this behavior in daily life, people make choices and recommendations all the time in their purchasing habits. It is highly unusual for a chief editor and half of an editorial board to resign and that indicates a journal in turmoil that should possibly be avoided. Similarly, authors are allowed to cite any papers they want, although usually the editor will note incorrect or insufficient citing.

People like Lindzen and Soon have been saying the major journals and media outlets have been refusing to present the evidence presented by skeptics.  While it makes life difficult for them, Lindzen never says that they should have to publish his articles or any other skeptic articles.  Soon, in a Q & A at UCLA flat out says that journals like Nature have decided not to publish skeptic articles.  This just means that they lose credibility on the issue in the eyes of people who see that skeptic evidence is valid. It is the choice of Nature.

Climategate was going to happen eventually.  The modelling method was crap from the beginning.  it was only the athoritative language behind IPCC reports that held it together.  With the spread of these emails, which are written in plain language, rather than scientific jargen, the average person can see how meaningless the predictions of computer models actually are.  They can also see that pressure had admittedly been put on skeptic scientists and journals.  It will be intersting to follow how this unfolds.

As most people know by now, Copenhagen will host the climate meeting Cop15 in December.
It has been around for a while and the time is closing in! – will Obama join? will the different politicians take any decisions? Will the African nations be heard? Will Nepenthes save the threes and WWF save the pandas or polar bears?
The questions are many and only time will tell. Or what?

The other day I watched a board discussion hosting: Knud Pedersen, Vice president at Dong Energi, among others. He presented Dong´s strategy to become a more CO2 neutral company. During the next 30 years the will shift the figures from: 15% CO2 neutral energy and 85% Goal driven energy – to 85% CO2 neutral energy and 15% energy containing CO2 emissions. This is a pretty hardcore strategy to become a Co2 friendly company. If the companies are ready to deal with the climate issue, and the politicians are too, then why are we talking about the fact that there might not happen anything during Cop15? if it all is just one big scam and get-together, then why even bother having it? What is the energy concumtion of hosting that meeting gonna cost compared to how much it will safe?

There are many things that I am curious to see in December!
Kadaver have been in contact with a broad perspective of people dealing with small events, happenings, campaigns, conferences, exhibitions etc. A lot of things are going to go down at the same time, and most of it is extremely interesting.
Then there is also the whole aspect of all the travelers coming to Copenhagen to stay during Cop15. The hotels has been booked for quite a while now and great initiatives like: New Life Copenhagen has been established in order to host people from a grassroots level too. the Couchsurfing network is heated and a broad specter of activists are preparing for December.

The Demonstration on December 12th, is estimated to have approximately 60.000 participant! All yelling for climate change! If you know of any great initiatives thats gonna happen, then feel free to drop a comment or an email. Then we will post it here on the blog for others to see and participate.

DECEMBER is just around the corner! And that means two things: CHRISTMAS & MY BIRTHDAY; I absolutely love the holidays and I’m PROUD SAGITTARIUS! I remember I used to be obsessed with astrology back in high school. I bought books and literally analyzed my horoscope every single day! Times have shifted, but I still find it interesting to read stuff like this every now and then; I ESPECIALLY LIKE THE BOLDED AREAS:

A Sagittarius woman lacks tact and her flat, on-the-face statements may make you feel like running away from her. Then, suddenly, she will say something so charming that you will feel as if you are on the seventh heaven. There you go again! You will be trapped in her charm once more. Once you have been enamored by a Sagittarius girl, you will be staying with her for a long time. She is pleasant, friendly, outspoken and very talkative. Her forthrightness comes form the fact that she has no illusions about the world.

She sees it exactly as it is and says what she sees. At times, you may wish that she were not so honest. But then, she would be like any other girl, wouldn’t she? In all probability, you will not like it. A Sagittarian female is very optimistic, but she is not irrational. She will judge the entire situation as per the facts, analyze its probable outcome and still believe that things will get better. Usually, she is very calm and composed. However, when you become rude to her or offend her, she may become like the fire-spitting dragon.

Sagittarius women are quite independent and love their freedom. They are attached to their family, but not too much. If you want to get something done from a Sagittarian female, just ask her; don’t order. She will never ever do it. She is your better half and don’t you dare forget that. So, you will be expected to balance politeness with firmness.

I know it’s difficult – but then, since when was winning someone easy. With a Sagittarius girl, you will never have to guess. She says what she thinks and how she acts shows what she feels. This bluntness may cost her heavily at times, even to the point of ending the relationship. Still, she would act as if she’s not hurt at all and it is just one of the many harmless flirtations she’s had. People will even believe all this, while inside she will be weeping and nursing her wounds. All this time, she will be analyzing what went wrong and when.

The word ‘marriage’ makes a Sagittarian female a little nervous and you will need to tempt her in order to make her settle down. She is a little hard to catch and tends to be one of the boys all the time. That doesn’t mean she looks or acts like a man! Infact, she is as female as any other girl is. The society and its norms do not matter to her. She can never be the hypocrite that some people are and tend to wiggle a few tongues. Her honesty and brusqueness further add to the negative opinions.

Don’t be fooled by them. Look deep inside a Sagittarius female and you will find a woman who is so enthusiastic about life and who trusts easily. Infact, this extreme belief makes her heart vulnerable and defenseless. It gets broken too often, but then, she knows how to move on with life. You will be tempted to care for her. It’s natural. There are hardly any people who can resist the bright and charming disposition of a Sagittarius girl. She will not be too good with money and will most probably be on the extravagant side.

She is very sentimental and emotional, though it seems otherwise. It just that, where her feelings are concerned, she becomes too shy. After marriage, your house will always remain sparkling clean, even if you don’t have a maid to do that. She cannot stand sloppiness, it doesn’t appeal to her sensibilities. She may not be too good at cooking, but she will also not burn your egg every day. A Sagittarian girl may pass the most sarcastic comments when she is angry, but she will forget the resentment soon enough. Then, she won’t understand why are you so upset.

As a mother, she will be very friendly with the kids. Infact, she will be more of a chum, than a mom. Only, you will have to teach them to take her bluntness with a pinch of salt. Apart from that, she will be wonderful and make them as independent as she is. She will be a lovely hostess to guests and make them feel at home. Just let her be what she is. Don’t try to change her and don’t curb her individuality. She will brighten your life with her optimism, boost you with loyalty, trust you blindly and shower her affection on you. She will encourage you to see dreams and help you in making them come true!

well, hi there!  things have been a bit crazy around here this past week- I put a wholesale order in the mail today (yay!) and have been getting ready for all of my upcoming shows.  December is going to be crazy, but, it’s a wonderful time and I can feel the momentum kicking up a notch!  as my husband and I prepare our vegetarian steak and guinness pie for tomorrow, I am thinking about all that I am grateful for-

this year, I am grateful for:

my perfect partner,

my wonderful in-laws,

my far-away friends (you know who you are!),

and being able to make beautiful jewelry every day.

I hate December. And the end of November. I really do. There’s always so many things to do. Everything happens at the same time. I have seven big tests in just ten days.. But in just three weeks hell’s over. OVER. And I can take it easy and enjoy the holidays. Maybe I just should retire right now?
I need to get rid of at least one of the tasks I have, so at the moment I’m writing a paper about Jeanne d’Arc.  She had a pretty interesting life, short but full of adventures. Do you know anything special about d’Arc?

Anyway! Acne… ah, where to start? I LOVE THEM. And these shoes.. are… incredible! Really amazing. Just gotta save my money and find a store where they have the shoes. Maybe someday in the future.. *sigh*

Breezine is the last installation of the 2009 compilations. It features some tracks we have saved throughout the year. In short, it is basically the music we listen to. There is no specific concept to the album but it ranges on the stratosphere of  mid-tempo and instrumentation that is less computerized and rawer. We hope you like this offering, it’s early so that you get it before the break and because we are going to be head to South Korea / Philippines in an hour or so. The staff of the Elma Ross Public Library would like to extend to all our patrons and friends, a very blessed and happy Thanksgiving.  Without you, our patrons and friends, the library would not be what it is today.  Thank you for making this library a success.  The library will be closed on Thursday, November 26^th and Friday, November 7^th in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. 

            We hope that everyone has a great Thanksgiving and can spend it with people that they care about.  And of course, there is the food.  Lots and lots of food.  All kinds of good things to eat.  What are your favorites?  After doing a brief survey, we came up with the following best foods of Thanksgiving.  They are: turkey and dressing, ham, candied sweet potatoes, green beans, corn pudding, asparagus casserole, homemade yeast rolls, and desserts.  There are just too many good desserts out there; we don’t have room to list them all.  If you want some great recipes to use for this Thanksgiving, come and browse our cookbook selections.  We have many cookbooks to choose from.  Be aware that we tell anyone who checks out a cookbook from us that they have to bring samples of what they made to us at the library when they return the book.  That’s only fair, right?

            Here is our schedule for December:

            December 4^th – Gingerbread House Family Night at 7 p.m.  Reservations are required.  Space is limited.  Hear the story of the “Gingerbread Baby” and make gingerbread houses out of graham crackers, frosting and lots of candy.  This is really lots and lots of fun

            December 7^th and 21^st – Toddler Time will be offered these days at 11 a.m.  All toddlers and their parents are invited to hear stories, crafts/coloring, and a light snack.  Toddler Time at the library is great fun.  Please join us!

            The library will be closed December 24 – 36^th in observance of the Christmas holiday.

Tis the Season

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!.  I personally want to wish you a year filled with wonderful opportunities, interesting karmic lessons, abundance, good health and lots of laughter!  May 2010 be one of the best years you will ever remember.

What a great time of the year!  We are busily buying and wrapping gifts and going crazy trying to find something special for everyone on our holiday list.  But how are we supposed to know what is appropriate for a niece, nephew, grandchild, child or partner?  There are so many things that I am unfamiliar with that when my 26-year-old daughter asks for a specific thing, I must have a blank look on my face because she replies, “It’s on my Amazon list.”  Phew.  Thank God for Amazon.  Other than supporting local small businesses when I can, I usually buy on Amazon or eBay since getting the most for our dollar is on everyone’s mind these days.

Of course, this season’s focus should not be on buying gifts; it is about Jesus Christ being born and about how his teachings enter into our lives.  I tell my metaphysical students that, “Jesus had a great idea and then man-made religion.”

It is up to the individual to believe in Jesus or not, but his teachings are noteworthy.  His message is about love and compassion.  It’s about giving a helping hand to those in need or just to be there for someone if they need a friendly smile or someone to talk to.  You can also honor Jesus by attending mass on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day even though as many of you know, December 25^th is not his actual birth date.

When was he born? That’s another mystery and it’s suggested that he was born somewhere between 6 – 4 BC when Herod was King.  It would be so interesting, as an astrologer, to know his true birth date.  I always wondered why no one thought that the actual date of his birth was not considered a noteworthy piece of information that should have been written down somewhere, possibly in the Bible.  Some feel he was born in the autumn and was probably a Libran (compromising, fair, non-judgmental, compassionate, giving, loving and kind), but many belief, as do I, that he was born in the sun sign of Pisces.  Why?  Because Pisces is ruled by water and therefore is very compassionate, mysterious, caring, serious, spiritual and contemplative.  Many of the stories about Jesus are about water — whether he was teaching his disciples how to fish, his walking on water or turning water into wine. Then there’s the martyr aspect of the sign and we all know Jesus was the ultimate martyr who died for mankind’s sins. I guess we were never meant to know the exact truth of his birth so that everyone could add their own take on the story.

Whether you believe that the three Wise Men were astrologers or business men from the East is not important.  The Star of Bethlehem, which scientists determined was a comet, was seen by all who were looking for signs that the King of Kings would be born.  Whether you believe that St. Mary had Jesus in a cave, a manger or in the lower level of an ancestral home where the live stock was kept during the winter (as some scholars believe), we know he was born from the many stories and miracles reported throughout the times and in the Bible stories.

Celebrate the holidays in whichever way is appropriate for your family and you.  Add a moment or two to contemplate, meditate or pray to your saints, God, Goddess, Guardian Angels, Spirit Guides or Universal Spirit. Thank him or her for all of your blessings, especially for having family and friends at your side during these stressful times.  Remember, the holidays are not about the gifts; it’s about the love that family and friends share during this time. It is hard to remember but the smallest thoughtful gift outweighs the lavish useless gift.  Great things come in small packages!  So if you can’t afford something expensive for those you love, give a thoughtful gesture and I’m sure it will be much appreciated.

Again, I wish you a happy holiday season and may the New Year find you getting all the things that are truly meaningful for your family and you.  And most importantly, remember to be careful for what you wish for!

Be careful about spending over your budget for the holidays.  You can get many wonderful holiday gifts on sale so check out newspaper flyers and local store ad campaigns.  Circumstances arise where you may be disagreeing on where to spend the holidays, what to buy a certain person or how to spend your money.  Miscommunication with family is very probable, so with the holiday spirit in mind, try to lighten up and go with the flow so that your holiday will be one to remember with happy times and lots of love from family around you.  Taureans are taking work and pressure too seriously now so prioritize and get things done one at a time and then you can feel that you have accomplished what you needed to do and have a clear mind for the holiday celebrations ahead.

GEMINI – May 20 – June 20

You are being extremely creative and innovative now, so have fun.  You can play with children, create stories, and have a truly great time with whomever you spend time with.  This is a fantastic period to organize your holiday and communicate all of your enthusiasm to your family and friends about seeing them and looking forward to a wonderful new year ahead.  Things seem to be working out well for you now as you are able to get more secure and stable with finances and can now figure out what your next steps are in paying back your debt, including friends, family and credit cards, etc., so that you will start the new year with less of a financial burden than has been with you throughout this year.

CANCER – June 21 – July 21

There are a lot of great changes starting in your life. You begin to see things from a different point of view and are having fun discovering your new interests and feelings.  Romance is highlighted now, so if you are in a loving relationship, things may go to the next level.  If not, you may meet a romantic significant other.  Good friends push you into having more fun and getting out of the house more.  All work and no play makes Jack (or Jacqueline) a very dull boy or girl, so be adventurous and have the time of your life.  Fun, games, romance and trying new things help you enjoy the holidays more than you have in a long time.

LEO – July 22 – August 21

Tis the Season

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!.  I personally want to wish you a year filled with wonderful opportunities, interesting karmic lessons, abundance, good health and lots of laughter!  May 2010 be one of the best years you will ever remember.

What a great time of the year!  We are busily buying and wrapping gifts and going crazy trying to find something special for everyone on our holiday list.  But how are we supposed to know what is appropriate for a niece, nephew, grandchild, child or partner?  There are so many things that I am unfamiliar with that when my 26-year-old daughter asks for a specific thing, I must have a blank look on my face because she replies, “It’s on my Amazon list.”  Phew.  Thank God for Amazon.  Other than supporting local small businesses when I can, I usually buy on Amazon or eBay since getting the most for our dollar is on everyone’s mind these days.

Of course, this season’s focus should not be on buying gifts; it is about Jesus Christ being born and about how his teachings enter into our lives.  I tell my metaphysical students that, “Jesus had a great idea and then man-made religion.”

It is up to the individual to believe in Jesus or not, but his teachings are noteworthy.  His message is about love and compassion.  It’s about giving a helping hand to those in need or just to be there for someone if they need a friendly smile or someone to talk to.  You can also honor Jesus by attending mass on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day even though as many of you know, December 25^th is not his actual birth date.

When was he born? That’s another mystery and it’s suggested that he was born somewhere between 6 – 4 BC when Herod was King.  It would be so interesting, as an astrologer, to know his true birth date.  I always wondered why no one thought that the actual date of his birth was not considered a noteworthy piece of information that should have been written down somewhere, possibly in the Bible.  Some feel he was born in the autumn and was probably a Libran (compromising, fair, non-judgmental, compassionate, giving, loving and kind), but many belief, as do I, that he was born in the sun sign of Pisces.  Why?  Because Pisces is ruled by water and therefore is very compassionate, mysterious, caring, serious, spiritual and contemplative.  Many of the stories about Jesus are about water — whether he was teaching his disciples how to fish, his walking on water or turning water into wine. Then there’s the martyr aspect of the sign and we all know Jesus was the ultimate martyr who died for mankind’s sins. I guess we were never meant to know the exact truth of his birth so that everyone could add their own take on the story.

Whether you believe that the three Wise Men were astrologers or business men from the East is not important.  The Star of Bethlehem, which scientists determined was a comet, was seen by all who were looking for signs that the King of Kings would be born.  Whether you believe that St. Mary had Jesus in a cave, a manger or in the lower level of an ancestral home where the live stock was kept during the winter (as some scholars believe), we know he was born from the many stories and miracles reported throughout the times and in the Bible stories.

Celebrate the holidays in whichever way is appropriate for your family and you.  Add a moment or two to contemplate, meditate or pray to your saints, God, Goddess, Guardian Angels, Spirit Guides or Universal Spirit. Thank him or her for all of your blessings, especially for having family and friends at your side during these stressful times.  Remember, the holidays are not about the gifts; it’s about the love that family and friends share during this time. It is hard to remember but the smallest thoughtful gift outweighs the lavish useless gift.  Great things come in small packages!  So if you can’t afford something expensive for those you love, give a thoughtful gesture and I’m sure it will be much appreciated.

Again, I wish you a happy holiday season and may the New Year find you getting all the things that are truly meaningful for your family and you.  And most importantly, remember to be careful for what you wish for!
