Y bueno, sé que de vez en cuando tenemos el tag de videojuegos y sólo lo hemos usado en situaciones muy especiales. Pues así como lo pusimos poco más de un año, finalmente sacó esta semana en la revista de Fumitsu, la mega noticia que ya todo mundo andaba esperando:Super Street Fighter IV revela sus siguientes 3 nuevos peleadores.

Primero que nada debo agregar que finalmente les están mostrando cariño a los que jugaron la serie “Alpha/Zero” de Street fighter. Da gusto anunciar de que Cody estará de vuelta soltando cuchillazos en su traje de prisionero con la misma actitud que le han puesto desde la alpha 3, luego, con Guy todos los fans han dado el brinco de alegría porque por lo que se vio en el video, los combos de este título estarán presentes con el detalle de que la parte final tendrá que usarse un poder EX. Nada de que preocuparse. Por cierto, la música entra de una manera bien nostálgica pero con un ritmo tecno bien ameno.

Y para aquellos que odiamos a Sagat, no hubo nada mejor que el anuncio de que Adon estará también en esta nueva versión. Uno de los detalles que noté es que tiene la propiedad de seguir con una ejecución de un poder después del golpe fuerte aunque haya puesto defensa el enemigo, esto, muy al estilo de Viper que hace su patada de fuego aunque el enemigo haya puesto defensa después de bloquear una patada fuerte.

Luego en el video muestran a los que se habían revelado hace un par de meses: T.Hawk, Dee Jay y la nueva Juri. Esta última tiene el ultra bien padre: Con su ojo obtenido por la tecnología de Sin, esta taekwondonista disfruta diciendo al final a su enemigo “eso se sintió bien no?”.

Sin lugar a dudas, uno de los mejores anuncios de la semana para los que disfrutan de los juegos de pelea.

Mario Maroto is a Miami-based, Costa Rican deejay/producer who aims to burn Beatport charts in the near future! His productions on-point with a bouncy spin to his growing tech house collection, Mario is on the right path to establish himself as a household name in any artists’ repertoire . All it’s a matter of is timing, and here is your chance to get to know this brilliant newcomer.

I choose some of my favorite tracks of the moment and managed to squeeze in my latest production called “El Mosquito Rojo” and a HUGE new track by my friends Mulattos & Dsan Powell which is what I end the mix with. 

As far as technique, I come from a Drum & Bass background and started my career as a drum & bass/jungle Dj back in the day, so you can expect a lot of “double drops” and some fast mixing. I also like to leave tracks riding on top of each other for a long time in order to make the transitions a bit more seamless. I usually don’t use a lot of Delays, Reverbs or FX, instead I try and make up for it with what I mentioned above, letting the tracks ride on top of each other for a long time, some fast mixing and “double drops” every time I can and think it will sound good. By the way for those of you who aren’t familiar with the term since it comes from drum & bass, double drops are what you call when you have two songs riding on top of each other with no beats or bass, basically on a breakdown and then they both “explode” on top of each other when the beats and bass line come back at the same time.

2. How did you get started into Electronic Dance Music?
There were two stages for me. When I was around 6 years old my dad who was working around Norway and Sweden brought me back a cassette tape from a band called “SNAP”. I listened to that tape over and over until it literally broke! He noticed I really liked the kind of music so on his next trip he got me some Technotronic and AB Logic tapes which I again listened to until they broke. I kept on looking for more music like this but living in a country like Costa Rica at that time, it was extremely difficult. I grew into my teens and developed a love for rock and punk music. I was even in a couple of bands, I was supposed to be the vocalist but in reality it was more like I was screaming my lungs out!!!

Shortly after that a friend of mine from the Netherlands introduced me to “The Chemical Brothers Exit Planet Dust Album” and I was hooked again!!! At this exact time, around 1996, 1997 the first “rave parties” started happening in Costa Rica so in all fit in perfectly!

3. What’s your sound like? Were you always into this sound, or has it changed since you started?

Well like I mentioned before, I come from a drum & bass background, having that said I’ve always been into the more “bouncy” and bass heavy sounds. I use to be into much darker & heavier music, which I still like to listen to, but when I sit down to write a track or do a Dj set then I always try and go strictly for the dance floor. I try to make music that is very Bass oriented. Very groovy and bouncy. I also try and keep a balance between what would be too dark and aggressive for the girls and what would be too bright and happy for the guys.

4. Who are some of your influences? (past and present)
Wow -I have so many influences in so many different styles of music that I would have to write for days. Going from Bob Marly to Michael Jackson to Timbaland to Iron Maiden, to Steve Miller’s Band to Richie Hawtin to Pendulum to Livio & Robi. I listen to all sorts of music and it all affects the way I play and write my own tracks. I rarely listen to electronic music when I’m not DJing or writing tracks. Twice a week on average I listen to the promos and buy tracks online. All the rest of the time I’m highly influenced by Reggae, Dancehall, old 70’s rock and even some pretty hardcore heavy metal! Ha ha ha (laughs)

Some electronic music dj’s and producers that have definitely changed my life and I want to mention are: Jeff Mills, Andy C, Sven Vath Marco Carola, Richie Hawtin, Paco Osuna, Paul Ritch, Nic Fanciulli, Joey Beltram and Adam Beyer.

5. What is one thing you’re proud of the most in your musical career so far?

I would definitely have to say it was when my first track was signed. I felt so accomplished and still do even today, every time I finish a track and can play it out on my sets. There is so much work behind a track, sometimes people don’t realize this, and I certainly didn’t, until I started making my own music. It’s a lot of fun -yes, but it’s also TORTURE!!! LOL

6. Give us one rare fact that fans may not know about you!
I go to the gym religiously 5 times a week. I find that pretty rare myself LOL

7. What are some of the things we can expect from you in the future? (projects, collaborations you’re working on?)
Right now I’m working on collaborations with my fellow friends Kabuto & Koji (Cocoon, Supernature) and Mario Miranda (Bosphorus Underground). I’m going to be traveling back to my home country of Costa Rica to spend the holidays there, so that should give me some time to be able to sit in the studio with them and make some more tracks together.

8. If you could go back in time for 24 hours, where would you go?
Saturday February 17th 2005 Club Vertigo Back To Basics Black Party. The most energetic crowd I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing in my career so far and one of the most amazing parties as a whole.

Vi è mai capitato di avere quei periodi in cui per quanto tu ti ostini di tenerti tutte le cose in mente, in realtà tu non ce la fai?

Si bene, questa è la mia situazione, perchè anche se avessi una agendina in cui scriverci le cose, avrei il coraggio di dimenticarmene lo stesso.

Sarà il tempo? O semplicemnte i residui di una anestesia che ha addormentato il mio cervello per la bellezza di 8 ore?

Mah chi lo sa, questa mattina avevo l’impressione che la pelle della fronte tirasse più del solito, effetto lifting?

Oltre ad essere così particolarmente confuso, anche quando parlo mi inceppo frequentemente, non so, è come se la lingua avesse un nodo, anzi una doppia “asola” e che non mi permettesse di pronunciare correttamente le sillabe, oltre al fatto che se sto scrivendo compio errori di prima elementare: come confondere le particelle mp con mb e cose simili.

Bah, o semplicemente con l’università sto disimparando l’italiano, e sto disimparando a comunicare, o l’epilessia galoppante oltre a dare delle strane scariche al mio cervello le da anche alla mia lingua.

Sta di fatto, che o per questo o per quello non ho nemmeno voglia di studiare, di mettermi sui libri, ho perfino mezza intenzione di cambiare totalmente facoltà, per non parlare che mi sono messo in testa di fare un provino per entrare in una Tv musicale Milanese.

Ovvio, i sogni di un bambino invece di esaurirli in qualcosa di concreto, li sto espandendo quasi come se dovessero occupare la mia vita, ed invece di avere un qualcosa che mi riporti a terra, (a parte mia madre)  la mia mente vola in posti che nessuno sa. Credo che nemmeno un tossicodipendete pieno d’erba riuscirebbe ad avere un stato mentale come il mio.

Sarà perchè non dormo a sufficienza? Sarà perchè ho un ciclo mestruale? O semplicemente sarà perchè ti amo? Come i “ricchi e poveri” cantavano… (che nome assurdo).

Mentre il mio viaggio all’interno del mio vuoto della mia massa celebrale, ritrovo a dover vivere accanto a delle persone cui se parlo di un qualcosa di profondo a volte non mi ascoltano, dicono che sono cose tristi, cose a cui non vogliono pensare perchè c’è altro nella vita ci si può anche divertire.

La TV ci ha così fottuto la testa? Dobbiamo sempre ridere come dei rincoglioniti? Guardando pseudocomici che credono di far ridere, mentre sembrano solo dei patetici burattini che penosamente cercano di far muovere le labbra del loro pubblico?

E così dopo una domenica passata a guardare gente che guida nei Go Kart, come se non bastasse passare 3 ore al giorno in macchina immerso nel traffico, vedi gente che si rifiuta nel vedere opere che servono ad aprire la mente.

Non è che sono un magnate dell’arte, non sono un sapiente, anzi ignoro molte cose, sono un gran ignorante, non conosco un mucchio di cose, sento l’urgenza interiore di sbranare un dipinto, un film, un qualcosa che si chiama opera d’arte.

Un mio amico dice che forse i miei amici sono ancora troppo piccoli, un’altro dice che non hanno la mia stessa sensibilità, io non so cosa sia questa cosa, io so solo che farebbe bene a certa gente che non sa ragionare, o ragiona con il culo.

La mia mente è in ferie, lo è da molto, e dopo la crisi in treno, penso sia partita per il deserto del Sahara. Il mio analista non dice un emerito cazzo, sto iniziando a pensare di pagarlo per niente, o forse le cose, me le dice, sono io a non metterle in pratica.

Mi manca l’amore, un qualcuno d’amare. Scopo con persone che poi non vogliono altro, Francesco dice che non mi devo lamentare, sono io a creare rapporti di questo tipo, forse ha ragione, solo che a volte adoro fare la puttana.

No, non intendo essere come Melissa P. che dopo una stagione è morta, forse ha investito i soldi dei suoi tre libri in una casa alle isole Kaiman e se li sta godendo con il suo convivente, forse facendo sesso a quattro.

Un’altra cosa che ho scoperto è quella di odiare le persone che si fingono per bene, che davanti non dicono nemmeno una parolaccia, perchè non sta bene in pubblico, dicono. La realtà è che queste persone rappresentano la falsità, non credo che Gesù cristo in croce cantasse “il waltzer del moscerino”, un pezzo dei “Prodigy” avrebbe più senso.

Si, odio le persone perbeniste, a cui non puoi dire nulla di sboccato, sempre serie.

La mia mente è in ferie e forse, è una fortuna ad avercela li!

Puntuale come un orologio svizzero Deejay Tv è finalmente partita al posto di All Music pochi minuti fa! Ancora sconosciuto il palinsesto e come sarà organizzata la tv. Di sicuro ci sarà la diretta di Deejay Chiama Italia con Linus e Savino, ancora ignoto gli altri programmi se avranno accesso anche televisivo o solo radiofonico e la tv sarà usata per trasmettere video. Beh, Deejay è, secondo me(e qui non alziamo un polverone Deejay vs 105) la migliore radio nazionale, sono contento sia arrivata anche Deejay tv!

Lume! Lume! Vă aducem la cunoştinţă faptul că sâmbătă seara la căminul cultural al comunei Eterbeek se prefigurează primul meu job, aici pe meleaguri belgiene. Voi fi deejay la o nuntă!!! Dacă tot nu am găsit ceva pentru un ‘guler-alb’, măcar să îmi utilizez talentul muzical…

Se anunţă o treabă plăcută şi relaxantă de vreo 5 ore; un old-school style mix folosind reţeta evergreen + pop = toată lumea dansează pe aşa ceva. Chiar şi o englezoaică (mireasa) şi un marocan (mirele). Plus un Dj român, se anunţă deja mega-petrecere !

The drum, the triangle, the harmonica, guitars, bass & the infamous cowbell probably make a strange combination of sounds all together. When they’re played completely wrong it sounds like detention for the devil.

I’ve come to hear many different instruments and make sounds like in “stomp” with numerous objects. They all seem to have a unique ambience they bring to music especially when you just bang them together in bars, which is what I do. It more fun after a few drinks an more people get involved =)

Still rhythm has to be felt not duplicated . My favorite to dance to is house music. And when I say house music I mean house music, not techno, not marky mark & the funky bunch, “feel it, feel it.” I get a little heated rush to my brain when people don’t know what goes on around them to the biggest degree. Im sure I know nothing about tons. Socrates said it best, “the only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing” but I’m sure Socrates had to slap some people around sometimes.

What I do listen to is sub genres of house like Disco house, vocal house, tribal, & electro house.

The reason I love it so much is because it incorporates so many sounds of the world in it. I’ve come to learn cultural music sounds & vibes just because it. At the moment Im listening to Afro-Brazilian house, in my headphones, “Esa Boca Linda” – Junior Jack remix..

They mix rock, electronica, pop, hip-hop, salsa, cumbia, and I might have even heard a polka or two. I even heard a super sick version of Cream’s “Sunshine Of Your Love.” The only problem I’ve encountered is that people don’t remember the music they heard in clubs. “Oh what was that song that was on last night, it went like ugh duh duh – -” I don’t even go to clubs anymore & still love it..

Why the hell do u people only like what they overhear? And yet complain when & that a song gets played out?

It gets played out because you can’t broaden your horizons!. Sorry to get bitter but nothing is more annoying than DJing & having Someone ask you “Can you play something we all know?”.. Ohhh don’t make me choke you with my headphones =) just because you don’t know it, no one said you were the emperor/empress of music. Granted if there’s no one dancing, follow the Smith’s song and “Hang the DJ”. Or maybe more commercial “roll into every station an murder the DJ” -Nas

I guess in conclusion, I just wanna say “Get with the program” & “become a little more complex.” if I run into another Latina that only listens to “reggaeton” I might not be responsible for my actions..

Brand new set from Richie Hawtin, and I have to admit, in my opinion this is his best set from 2009! I enjoyed it a lot. It is right up there with his Ibiza Podcast one. Quality tune selection, vintage Hawtin style when it comes to mixing and delivery, ready to go. I burned myself a copy as soon as I got it today, let me tell you it destroyed the bass in my car as I drove around. Minimal is at home and this is a home run by a longshot. Some excellent sets lately as we approach the end of ‘09…
