Un administrador de blog es, entre otras cosas, una aplicación desde la cual podemos escribir artículos para nuestro blog, administrar los posts, subir y editar imágenes, guardar posts para  continuar su edición después y poder publicarlos.

If you are a Firefox 3 user and have a Blogger, LiveJournal, or WordPress hosted blog, you can use separate client called Deepest Sender to post entries.

Why do this? It might be more convenient and you can prepare entries while you are offline.

One thing I like about Deepest Sender is being able to type a blog entry in the side bar of my Web browser while being able to view or copy and paste from a Web page in the main browser window!

Another thing I like about it is that it is cross platform. I can use the same extension on my PC and my Mac!

What don’t I like about it? There is no tagging function.

Als ich eben etwas im Netz gestöbert habe, bin ich über eine nette Möglichkeit gestolpert, offline Beiträge für WordPress und andere Blogs zu verfassen. Die Lösung heißt deepest sender und ist eine Erweiterung für Mozilla Firefox. Der Vorteil ist, dass das Programm sehr klein, im Quelltext verfügbar und insofern Platformunabhängig, als dass es überall läuft, wo man eine Firefox-Installation hat.

Die Installation ist selbsterklärend, die Erweiterung kann man sich direkt von der Projekt-Homepage installieren. Während der Installation wird nach einer Datei namens xmlrpc.php gefragt, hierzu fand ich hier Hilfe. Es ist ganz einfach, wenn der blog unter beispiel.wordpress.com zu erreichen ist, dann lautet die URL der Datei beispiel.wordpress.com/xmlrpc.php. Wenn das Progrämmchen erst einmal bei Firefox installiert ist, dann kann man es mit Extras -> Deepest Sender aufrufen. Es gibt auch eine Tastenkombination, die bei mir aber nicht funktioniert hat.

Man kann deepest sender online als alternative Oberfläche für wordpress nutzen, aber auch offline, um zu einem anderen Zeitpunkt seinen Beitrag hochzuladen. Dies halte ich sogar für die interessantere Option, da man so auch schreiben kann, wenn man gerade keine Internetverbindung hat. Die Blogbeiträge lassen sich abspeichern. Allerdings hat es bei mir nach dem Abspeichern und erneuten Laden sämtliche Absätze entfernt und der ganze Text war eine einzige Soße Beim zweiten Versuch waren dann alle Absätze doppelt so weit voneinander entfernt wie geplant, aber beim Posten hat sich das von selbst erledigt.

Wie man oben sehen kann, ist die Oberfläche recht spartanisch, bietet aber trotzdem die meisten Funktionen an, die man so braucht. Nur die Möglichkeit offline Bilder einzubinden und mit hochzuladen habe ich vermisst. Desweiteren müssen Kategorien und Tags im Nachhinein online hinzugefügt werden (im Onlinebetrieb steht zumindest für die Kategorien eine Funktion zur Verfügung). Diesen Beitrag habe ich übrigens mit deepest sender verfasst. Tags, Kategorien und den Screenshot natürlich im Nachhinein hinzugefügt. Alles in allem ist Deepest Sender ein ganz nettes Progrämmchen und angesichts der minimalen Anforderungen, die das Programm stellt kann man für die meisten Zwecke sicher auch mit den oben erwähnten Einschränkungen leben.

So far the only issue seems to be that I can’t upload files directly, but I can always go to the WP.com website for that. As it is, I don’t really have a lot of files that need uploading. The WP.com interface’s slowness has often bugged me (hey, internal spellcheck!) so this would be much MUCH better.

This add-on called “Deepest Sender” claims that I can post to my wordpress.com account without going to the site all the time. I have just added this and am going to try this out. The installation was as simple as installing any other add-on to the Firefox. Next when I selected “Deepest Sender” from the “Tools” menu of the Firefox, it asked me for some one time information about the blog I use, the account user name and password. It went on and logged in without any errors (so it shows up as of now) and a nice small interface poped up for me to type. This is going to be interesting if this works it claims. This is going to be my first post from the firefox add-on called “Deepest Sender” to my wordpress blog. Let see if this works! ~exec post~

Oh well this did worked (All excited). This did posted my scribble to word press. This is a wonderful add on. I was looking for to have some option like this where I can post to my blog without having to login to wordpress and then click here and there before I end up with the pad they provide for scribbling.

On a quick look at this add-on, they have a “post history” which list all the posts on my wordpress account. Once from the retrieved history, I can edit any post just by selecting the post and click on “edit”. (I am editing this post using the mentioned way). They also have a save option so that I can type and save those, for a rethink/recheck and a postponed post. Another feature they have is a offline mode, which I am yet to try. This sounds like saving my effort on saving the posts as XML if I am offline and then open to post it when I come online again. This offline mode should make the posting while offline transparent. I can add the post to one or multiple categories. So far I found one thing that will make me go to the website, wordpress.com is to add/edit the tags for the post. It doesnt seem “Deepest Sender” lets you add tags for a post. But thats the only feature missing that I felt straight away. Good so far. I really am going to try the offline mode today evening once I leave office.

I think those who are lazy like me to login each time to post a blog should atleast try this software. Well, Happy Bloggin…!

Расширений для FireFox много, но реальную ценность представляют единицы. Одним из таких является ScrapBook. Создано расширение было для ведения записной книги, в которую можно сохранять страницы выделять нужные слова, предложения четырьмя типами маркеров, а также редактирование самой страницы и перенесение отредактированного материала в соответствующий каталог. Чем он отличается от обычного сохранения в папки? Многим. К примеру, ты захотел скачать статью с сайта с wiki-движком. Многие замечали, что сохраняется лишь текстовая информация, буквально text/plain. ScrapBook сохраняет страницу полностью с подключаемыми css/js файлами в папку. Несколько каталогов помогают отсортировать информацию, можно также выделить на странице часть слова или предложения и сохранить лишь выделенное. Целиком и полностью must have.

AdBlock Plus

А это расширение поможет любителям различных сервисов переполненных рекламой. Можно вырезать рекламу из Google с почтовых web-интерфейсов, по размеру изображение, адресу целиком и по regexp. Для любителей считать траффик – must have.
