The most inconvenient thing during pregnancy is the process of modifying your dresses to your ever i

The most inconvenient thing during pregnancy is the process of modifying your dresses to your ever increasing stomach and or choosing what to wear that will not make you look like a tent. Today you don’t need to wear your husbands clothes to hide your belly. The only thing that it will do is make you look dowdy and uncouth. Neither do you have to wear dresses made as if there was only one standard model called pregnant and nothing else.

Today the options for pregnant women to choose from are humungous. The clothing takes into consideration that there are some women who like to show off their bump and then there are some modest conservative ones who would rather hide it than flaunt it.

Companies that have launched maternity ranges have conducted research prior to developing the entire range to ensure that it includes options for those who carry their weight high or low. Specially designed clothes enable you to emphasize the more flattering parts of our body while reducing the focus on the belly. Care is also taken to provide support to the increasing weight of the breasts. These aspects can only be kept in mind by trained designers and so do not resort to wearing overalls with no cut which have been recommended to you by your grandmother. Rather be the modern mom of today and dress nattily even when you are supporting a huge stomach.

We can today bid a permanent goodbye to boring white, black and beige tent houses and skirts that fall sloppily and look at the bright colored options that these companies provide. Colors which match the mood of the expecting mother like orange, red, turquoise are definitely more apt and suitable.

Other than alternatives in color you can also take your pick from among skirts, tops, trousers, track pants and long flowing gowns which will mesmerize you at first site. Never has shopping for clothes during pregnancy been more interesting and amusing. These days the tables have turned a complete 180 degrees wherein the choice is so much that it gets confusing. This at times even gets annoying because though you would like to pick up the swankiest of options available, you are aware that they can last you only for a very short period of time. Even if you do not lose enough weight to get back to your original size, you are definitely not going to have that huge belly forever.

Today I’ve been going through all the old recordings of previous bands and projects I’ve

Today I’ve been going through all the old recordings of previous bands and projects I’ve been involved with. I’m sending a cd to the guys from my first “real” band in high school. It’s going to be a collection of some of the good and bad music I’ve been a part of. For some reason all this music isn’t on my ipod or computer but I think it’s buried deep on one of my external harddrives. It’s very strange listening to music I wrote/recorded 10 years ago and haven’t listened to in 5. Surprisingly, some elements still hold up or interest me while a lot of it is pretty much unbearable to listen to. I’ve always had a hard time listening to myself especially singing but either I’ve gotten better or can tolerate it more over the last few years. Maybe I’ll try using some of the material from my high school and college years in some other context.
As I mentioned, tonight is the first show of my new band which we’ll call MPF for the moment. MPF has really come together in just a few months. It doesn’t look like our turnout is going to be very good tonight but you never know. I’ve learned not get upset or frustrated at how many people do or don’t show up. I’m planning on doing a whole segment on people coming to shows and the psychology involved. Regardless, MPF is going to be a lot of fun tonight and it will be nice finally testing out a lot of things that we’ve never tried in other bands. I’ll try to write up a brief and hopefully not too boring review of the show later. Once again no pictures. Boo hoo.

I had two choices. Either I lose my sanity and do the musical this year, or I keep my sanity in chec

I had two choices.

Either I lose my sanity and do the musical this year, or I keep my sanity in check and just focus on school and running instead.

Guess which option I chose?

If you’re thinking the first one, you’re an idiot. I may be crazy enough as it is, but I still have my sanity. I think.

Anyway, they changed the musical to “The Wiz” and I was like, “see ya!” And, that’s that. I’m done. I chose my road, remember? It doesn’t involve the yellow brick one that probably appears in “The Wiz.” I chose the lovely red brick one.

So, instead of spending my nights at the school, I’ve gotten stuff done. Good stuff.

I did a project on the novel Jane Eyre. It definitely had the “wow” factor to it. I made a powerpoint, and modeled the sentences after the Dick & Jane books. (Ex: See Jane. See Jane run. Jane runs fast. Run, Jane run!) The best part? Because I was trying to get the point across that Jane Eyre is, in fact, gothic literature, I used Emily The Strange as Jane. Yeah, that’s right. 13-year-old Emily starred in my little movie as Jane Eyre. I was so proud of myself, and I could tell that my AP English teacher was impressed. The icing on the cake? The cherry on top? “Aha!” by Imogen Heap accompanied Jane (Emily) on all of her little adventures. I will never tire of that song. Ever.

Ever since I decided not to be involved in the musical, my life has gotten better. I have no unnecessary stress. Right now I’d be down at the school, but instead I’m here. I’m writing for two newspapers, a website, my blog, doing homework and running cross-country…I don’t have time to participate in silly musicals. There’s no point. It’s hard to walk away, but what’s done is done. My presentation wouldn’t have turned out as well as it did if I had had to be at the school rehearsing last night. And, that’s that.

The 2008 romantic comedy Definitely, Maybe has all the right elements to make a fabulous and charmin

The 2008 romantic comedy Definitely, Maybe has all the right elements to make a fabulous and charming movie — a phenomenal cast, a talented writer and director, an innovative storyline, a heartwarming theme — yet somehow these pieces fail to come together in the ultimate product, rendering the film slow, tedious, and absolutely painful.

Definitely, Maybe, the brainchild of writer/director Adam Brooks (who has fantastic light comedies such as Wimbledon and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason under his belt) focuses on single dad Will Hayes (Ryan Reynolds) narrating his life story to his young daughter Maya (Abigail Breslin), who then attempts to guess which of the three women in his life ultimately became her mother. The choices run down to sweet and innocent Emily (Elizabeth Banks); sexual and ambitious Summer (Rachel Weisz); and cute and silly April (Isla Fisher). As the tale twists and turns, the audience becomes embroiled not only in Will’s life story but invested in finding the ending which will make Maya smile, a clever twist on what would otherwise remain the basic romantic comedy formula.

Though the storyline of the film certainly stands out from the others in the genre and seeps with the creativity of a writer indulging himself, somehow this film fails to work properly in its entirety. The script attempts to illustrate the complexities of each of the three women, spending long amounts of time on each of the relationships, and throw off the audience in any attempts to guess at the final identity of Maya’s mother by twisting and turning Will’s attention amongst them all; however, because Brooks is so eager to delve into all of the characters with his trademark realistic comedy, the film becomes incredibly tedious and slow. Each of the relationships, without the silliness of mainstream humor and antics or the melodramatic nonsense of modern drama, seems to last millenia, and all of the changes in Will’s affection makes him seem fickle at best and at worst irritating. By the time Maya accurately guesses her mother’s identity, the audience sighs a breath of relief for not having to worry about another painful change of heart, only to discover that Brooks has thirty minutes left to bring Will’s true love back into his arms.

In the hands of any other crew, the potential in the concept of Definitely, Maybe could still have shone through, but Brooks seems to have sadly indulged himself in his team and his position as well. The directing seems to emphasize all of the scripts faults in pacing and increased the tedium throughout the film, and none of the film’s technical aspects, such as editing, cinematography, soundwork, or even music, can salvage the brilliance the project must have originally promised, especially considering the rather average quality of the work — rather surprising, considering the caliber of crew working on the project, notably Florian Ballhaus as cinematographer and Clint Mansell as composer.

However, because of the slow pace of the film, the astute film junkie can take the time to deeply assess the acting involved in the film. Indeed, in scenes that seemed to last ages, Fisher shines like the sun, embodying the wit, fun, strength, and joy that exists within her character and acting as the perfect female lead for any romantic comedy. Reynolds works competently as the single father, basking in his shallow though substantial chemistry with the charming Breslin, whose winning smile and sweet laughter steal the heart of any watcher.

Yet Banks and Weisz fade in comparison to these three likeable actors. Banks’s naive college sweetheart character seems annoying after the first scene, missing the endearing side of innocence and landing on the pretentious, while Weisz’s vivacious and ambitious Summer comes off as hollow, flaky, and — dare I say it? — rather bitchy.

In the end, however, I must praise Brooks on a fabulous idea, though I must also put the brunt of my criticism at his feet for changing a great concept into something it never should have been — a demonstration of tedium marring the potential of what this film could have been.

a list of things I definitely believe in.

that wikipedia is a better* timesuck than facebook
that gender is not binary
that my mother makes the best banana milkshakes in the world
that there is a higher power, & that god is a really useful 3 letter word for said higher power
that no one is actually “too lazy to use proper capitalization”**
that fighting against social injustice is always important
that the word ‘lover’ should only be used in the following circumstances: in poetry, in the phrase “I’m a lover, not a fighter”, or by Leonard Cohen whenever he likes, & if it must be used to describe a relationship, said relationship should be over*** (“we were lovers a few years ago”) or long distance (“I have a lover in Chicago”****), & the word should never be used in conjunction with the person’s name (oh hi, L word, “my lover Cindi”)
that Las Vegas has a negative influence on at least 70% of the people who live there
that my queerness was hardwired from birth
that sex is better when you love the other person(s)*****
that marriage shouldn’t be handled by the state; civil unions should
that I will never get tired of Joni Mitchell’s Blue
that most pizza is better cold
that contrary to popular opinion, Jeff Buckley’s cover of Hallelujah is not actually better than L.C.’s original
that once it’s on the internet, it’s forever

*not that it’s better AT it, although in my case it is, but that it’s of better quality. with wikipedia, you look up steampunk jewelry & wind up reading about the invention of the cuckoo clock. with facebook, you run into a picture of an ex with their tongue down the throat of ANOTHER ex, & what good does that do anybody? wikipedia: there might be drama [THAT ARTICLE IS BIASED! CITATIONS NEEDED!], but at least it’s not about you [unless it is, in which case you're fucked].
**we are just jerks with a preference.
***even this is iffy. really: just don’t. say that you fucked. say that you were friends, & a very important part of your friendship was tying each other up & inserting popsicles into various orifices. just . . . lover. really. must you?
****entirely hypothetical, & if I were to take an out of town lover, I’d pick someone who lived somewhere I actually wanted to visit. I’ve been to Chicago enough; it’s ok. Give me a beach, or something.
*****’better’ is different than ‘hotter’. also, this is purely opinion. I know some of you are having mind-blowing sex with complete strangers from Craigslist, totally. I respect that. use condom sense. also, I put the optional S in because while I might not be poly, who’s to say how many people can be madly in love with one another? not me.

Laser hair removal might not be many people’s first choice of hair removal methods, however, i

Laser hair removal might not be many people’s first choice of hair removal methods, however, it is definitely one that should be given some serious thought. With virtually no pain and extremely long lasting results, it is definitely one of the best around.

How Effective Is It?

Laser hair removal is a fairly gentle procedure that can remove hair from any part of the body. It involves a laser beam being targeted at hair follicles and it can sometimes take around 15-45 minutes to treat each different area of hair. These treatments are often done over a number of different appointments and are usually not done all at the same time.

So, does it actually work? Well, it definitely seems to! The laser gives off a certain amount of heat energy and different body tissues then absorb that energy. The color of the laser beam is what determines which body tissues absorb the energy and once it is absorbed, it destroys targeted cells under the surface of the skin. It does not damage any surrounding areas; it only damages the root of the hair follicles and prevents further growth.

This means that results are permanent as long as you go back for your remaining treatments. If you find that the results aren’t permanent, you will see that any hair that does re-grow will be paler and weaker than it was before. Generally, you will need around three sessions before you notice any real results.

Are There Any Disadvantages?

Despite it being really effective most of the time, there is no getting away from the fact that it is quite expensive! Considering that you can pay up to $500 per session and most therapists suggest you have at least six sessions, it can be extremely expensive.

Another disadvantage, as mentioned earlier, is that some people still notice a little re-growth despite treatment. The hair is weaker and less noticeable, but it is still a disadvantage considering how much you pay for treatment.

The treatment is also thought to be slightly riskier if you have darker skin. Pale skin is generally a lot safer with laser treatment than darker skin is and even people who have a tan need to be wary of the risks. It tends to be less effective if you have un-pigmented hair, which is generally gray, red and blonde.

Finally, some people find that the treatment can be painful to a point where it is unbearable. If you do notice any pain while having the treatment done, it is important to let the therapist know.

Overall, laser hair removal can and does work, but it definitely does not produce brilliant results on everybody. As with other treatments, there are always risks involved. The treatment is expensive, so you need to make sure you have enough money to pay for at least three treatments.

AUDIO: ‘May, might, will, definitely’ audio – Q2 p.82 of our textbook

In Tuesday’s Pre-Intermediate class we discussed ‘prediction’ words – those like may, might, probably, definitely, will, and on and on and on. We also welcomed Kyoung Won! Hello!

But what do they mean? Below is an explanation of these terms and their meaning:

‘will definitely’

We use this phrase when we are sure something will happen eg. ‘We will definitely go out on Friday night’.

The negative of this phrase is definitely won’t

‘will probably’

This phrase is used when we are fairly sure (perhaps 75% sure) something will happen eg. ‘We will probably go to the movies tonight’

The negative of this phrase is probably won’t

‘may / might’

These verbs are used to say that something could happen / that it’s possible something will happen

eg. We may / might go out on Friday night

The negative of these verbs is may / might not and people will say mightn’t

eg. I mightn’t be able to see you on Friday night / I may not be able to see you on Friday night

Will people use mobile phones in the future? Will they write letters? Will people spend more time at home? Will they still play computer games? Will people still read books? Will people still use CDs? Will we use the internet? Will computers replace teachers?

1. Definitely
2. Sacrilegious
3. Indict
4. Manoeuvre
5. Bureaucracy
6. Broccoli
7. Phlegm
8. Prejudice
9. Consensus
10. Unnecessary.
